If you like roguelites and boomer shooters paird with quirky anime characters you'll like this game. Its a janky roguelite that doesn't take itself seriously and I honestly don't understand why is not recommended more. Its not worth $16 but $5 and below is a good price for the game. It seems the devs put a lot of hard work into it as well.

It's really not that bad, the enemy variety really helps compensate for the stale gameplay. It's very simple but it gets the job done.

The art direction is incredible, very nice looking game that feels so cozy and fun. The story isn't anything special but it does what it needs to.

In no way would I say this is a great game, but it's a fun little experience that I believe doesn't deserve the mixed reviews its received!

I will clarify though, I got this game of sale for $2.39, the maximum I would pay for this would be $5 maybe $8, I don't believe it's worth paying the full price unfortunately.

It's pretty good if you want a somewhat easy game to brainlessly just complete in a couple hours but the fighting is easy to get around and kinda boringly repetetive if you take on all fights you can but some of the enemies will take you out fast if you are not carefull which did add a tactical need too, that being said i did not die to any of the bosses a single time (their pathing is a bit too easy if you generally just play a lot of games already) and the game was a enjoyable one but would recomend buying on sale since theres not too many hours in it and it does feel like its lacking a bit more meat on its bones ^^

Auf der GamesCom 2017 das erste Mal bei Big N angespielt. Heute endlich komplettiert, was mich knappe 3 Stunden gekostet hat. Kleiner Spiele-Snack für Zwischendurch. Story ist super, Charaktere und Dialoge schön schräg und das Setting top. Einziger Kritikpunkt ist die kurze Hit Range zum Gegner. Hat dennoch Spaß gemacht.

J'ai acheté ce jeu en promo à moins de 2€ durant les soldes steam. Le jeu était en évaluation moyenne alors je n'en attendais pas grand chose. Mais la direction artistique me plaisait alors j'ai voulu essayer malgré tout.
Comme très souvent, la plupart des avis sur steam sont laissés alors qu'on a pas vu grand chose du jeu. Résultat, on laisse des avis alors qu'on a aucune idée de ce que le jeu à offrir si on décide d'aller jusqu'au bout.

Tout d'abord je dirais que ce jeu n'est pas destiné à un public adulte. C'est sûr que si on le met entre les mains d'un trentenaire blasé ou d'un adepte des jeux fromsofware par exemple, ça ne risque pas de plaire. En revanche pour un enfant de 7-8 ans qui découvre les jeux d'action/aventure ça me parait tout à fait approprié. Ben oui les jeux vidéo c'est pas que pour les grands.

L'histoire du jeu peut tenir sur un post it : vous passez des jours tranquilles chez vos grand parents,pendant que vos parents sont partis on ne sait où sans donner de nouvelles. Un jour quelqu'un fait un trou dans le sous sol de la maison et vous décidez d'aller voir de quoi il retourne. Autant vous dire que le scénario n'est clairement pas le point central du jeu. Ne vous attendez pas à des plot twist de fou. Tout est très simple, parfois absurde.

Le jeu est un roguelike. Le but sera donc principalement d'explorer des donjons infestés de monstre. Mourir vous ramène au début du jeu mais vous gardez l'expérience accumulée, ce qui vous permet de recommencer avec des avantages. Plus vous jouez, plus le jeu est facile, et vous pourrez même débloquer des raccourcis. Et au début ce n'est pas si simple! Même si les combats sont très basiques, le mélange 3D/2D rend parfois les distances entre vous et les ennemis assez difficiles à appréhender. Heureusement par la suite vous pouvez débloquer des choses pour vous aider, comme des projectiles,la possibilité de se protéger avec un bouclier, davantage de coeur vous permettant d'encaisser plus de dégats, et bien sûr des compagnons pouvant prendre le relais pendant les combat pour vous aider.

En parlant des compagnons, vous pouvez les recruter à condition de posséder des "cubes d'amitié" et de choisir les bonnes option de dialogues en vous adressant à eux. Attention à bien choisir vos réponses, sinon vous serez condamné à recommencer une run pour pouvoir recruter le personnages que vous vouliez. Ils sont au nombres de 8 et chacun possède sa capacité. Certaines sont très efficace pour infliger des dégats, d'autres vous aiderons à gêner les ennemis ou vous soutenir. Ils vous aideront jusqu'à ce que leur jauge d'énergie s'épuise,soit en attaquant, soit en se prenant des dégats. À noter qu'un compagnon épuisé ne pourra plus être utilisé dans la run en cour. Vous pourrez leur rendre de l'énergie en leur faisant manger des burger disponibles chez le marchand, à condition que leur énergie ne soit pas totalement épuisée. À vous de choisir quel compagnon vous correspond. Sachez cependant que pour finir le jeu vous devrez recruter tous ces compagnons. En sachant qu'on ne peut en recruter que jusqu'à 3 par run. Vous devrez donc inévitablement recommencer plusieurs fois pour voir la fin du jeu.

Le jeu comporte 4 zones. Au début vous n'aurez accès qu'à 2 d'entre elles. Pour débloquer les autres zones vous aurez besoin d'augmenter votre "niveau étoile". Pour celà il suffit de recruter des nouveaux compagnons. Vous comprenez donc la nécéssité de les recruter. Recruter un certain nombre de compagnon vous permettra de débloquer telle zone où vous pourrez recruter tels autres compagnons et ainsi de suite. Concernant la structure du jeu, vous avez donc une zone, qu'il faudra parcourir pour recruter des compagnons, et trouver des interrupteurs afin de débloquer l'accès au donjon principal de la zone. Les donjons eux sont procédurales, mais on ne retrouvera que 2 ou 3 variations donc on les connaîtra très vite par coeur.

Enfin concernant les boss, ne vous attendez pas à des combats épiques contre des adversaires charismatiques à la dark souls. Avec certain compagnons ils seront même très facile à battre. Quand au boss de fin, sans trop vous en dire, le combat tient plus du mini jeu qu'à un combat. C'est pourquoi je pense que le jeu a été développé essentiellement pour un très jeune public.

En conclusion ce n'est pas un jeu d'une grande profondeur, tant dans son univers que dans son gameplay. Et une fois terminé on aura que peu d'interet à y revenir. Mais je pense malgré tout que c'est un bon jeu sur lequel on peut passer un bon moment. Je l'ai parcouru avec plaisir et curiosité.

Очень хотелось бы полюбить эту игру, но она слишком сырая. Проходил её на Nintendo Switch. Стиль интересный, но геймплейно не доработано. Фишка с превращением в других существ идёт игре в плюс, но самих существ и возможностей её использовать не хватает. Локации находятся в случайных местах (при каждом прохождении их позиция будет меняться), из-за чего мне, например, приходилось несколько раз бегать с одного конца карты на другой

'애들용' 이란 말은 성인이 하기에는 스토리는 유치하고,
난이도는 시시합니다.
가장 힘들었던 도전과제가 15번의 사망판정 이었으니 할말 다했죠.

Many ppl call this a short game but it is not so short.. you can make a run completed in 3 hours at first but that is not the end of the game.. I needed 10 hours to get all the stars for the Final Boss fight. You need multipple runs to finish it and the recruited characters are giving this game real variety. With them you can make a run much more faster. I really enjoyed the visuals, atmosphere and fighting system of the game. I purchased it on a 90% off price, I can only recommend it for that. My only problem was the weapon of the main character.. It is only a stick and it will always be.. I could imagine a sword too maybe with higher damage and bigger range to hit enemies.

"AWAY: Journey to the Unexpected" is a short (<= 3 hours) first-person action-adventure with very light randomised elements and meta-progression, where you play a boy with a stick, trying to find his parents and befriending some oddballs along the way. The story revolves around a cartoony nonsense-premise, which is kind of fresh and charming, music is really catchy and the overall presentation and drawn-spriteworks are top. I also liked the different filters that are being used if you play a different character.

That being said, the actual gameplay is (as stated in the reviews) quite barebones and the overall content is light (only four stages, two light interchanging dungeon-areas, two bossfights [with two different bosses to encounter in the first dungeon-area])
If you expect a first-person-roguelike (with the premise of roguelikes/-lites being highly replayable) you will be disappointed, also the asked price seems steep.

Nonetheless, got a fun time with it and I bought it on sale for around 3 bucks. Worth a try for a short, charming experience.

I just started this on PC hence the low game time. I've completed it 100% on Switch a couple of times and love the game. It's simple, cute, and super fun. It was made almost entirely by one guy. No one should be hating on this thing. It's awesome. It is oozing with care and attention to detail.

This game had been sitting in my inventory for ages after I originally got it in a Humble Bundle several years ago. I finally decided to play it without any prior knowledge and lost interest in about half an hour. I didn't realize it was a roguelite until I began writing this review, which might be for the best. While I understand the artistic concept the developers were aiming for, the inability to identify when an enemy is close enough to hit you or lacking animations that signal a melee attack is a significant oversight. The initial combat is too poor for me to want to give this game another chance.

The game looks gorgeous while providing incredibly shallow and monotonous gameplay. This is the kind of gameplay and artstyle that could lend itself to a fascinating open world game with differently themed areas and characters, using different characters' abilities to gain access to new areas or getting certain advantages against certain bosses/enemies or traversal in the world. Unfortunately every ally ends up being used to spam attacks on bosses without worrying about death and that's about it. There's no interaction among the characters once you obtain them, so one of the main things you'd expect from an RPG style game, character development, is non-existent.

Hell, I feel like I've almost put more effort into writing this review than they spent to come up with the story and characters for this game. Whoever did the artwork did such an amazing job though and I would love to see more games by this/these artists.

The combat in this game is terrible as well. They either need to extend the attack range for melee or they need to make it so you don't take damage simply by being run into. Never seen a first person game do this really... There's a reason the third person style of getting touched by an enemy to get hurt, isn't really done in first person. Especially when using 2D sprites as 3D enemies. The depth perception is impossible to discern almost. You eventually just get used to luring enemies to a specific choke point and letting them run into your weapon over and over.

I was so excited for this game when I first booted it and lost all that excitement within less than an hour. What a bummer. It's also super easy to 100% the game, the boss doesn't even actually require a fight, but rather a game of ping pong... It's one of the lamest, most boring end bosses in history. I didn't even miss a single shot, so I'm not sure how anybody would fail at it.

I dunno, not worth the money or the time investment, but I played it so you don't have to hopefully.

Incredibly underrated game, yes it's simple but the gameplay loop is flawless!
Earthbound mood meets first person dungeoneering is an interesting mix that feels weird at first but ramps up pretty fast and in the end works really well!
My only nitpick is that the game feels very barren for the first hour or so but after that it's smooth sailing.

A short and sweet game that took just over 3 hours to beat! Really good art style, though the gameplay isn't the most exciting, A bit too easy for me as I'm used to more difficult games, so I ended up having to die over and over again to get the last few achieves! Beat the game on my 3rd full run!
Overall an enjoyable time, but once you've played the game through 1 time, there's no need to play it again!

This doesn't feel a game that is finished with any polish, this feels like a slightly improved game jam project or capstone project. It has charming characters and music but game-play isn't great. the extremely low health means you lose to the many enemies in the room you accidentally walked into since the 2d in 3d world makes it impossible to gauge hurt box distance. Past the basic moment and attack nothing is explained so so thing are happening, journal updated, etc without knowing how to access any of that. Level design is a padding to game length since your running in circles trying to figure out where the hell your going. Its a game that could have been interesting but actually playing it isn't fun.

C'était chill, le jeu avait une DA très cool et était plutôt beau, le gameplay est pas oufissime mais pour une soirée ça fait vraiment l'affaire et les boss étaient fun à affronter. Je ne comprend pas pourquoi les gens mettent une review négative, j'ai eu aucun problème sauf avec le Steam Deck. Jeu facile à 100% aussi !

Estou escrevendo a analise logo depois de fazer 100% do jogo, oque já adiantando, não foi trabalhoso, nem chato, só envolveu um pouco de grind (20 minutos no máximo).

Jogabilidade:
É um jogo de aventura em primeira pessoa, com alguns elementos de roguelite onde algumas fases e detalhes são aleatórios, mas no geral poucas coisas mudam em cada run comparado a outros jogos do mesmo gênero, oque pode ou não pode ser um ponto negativo para quem jogar (eu não me importei com esse detalhe).

No geral ele é 100% voltado no combate, onde não é apenas sair atacando loucamente, você tem que atacar no momento correto e não ficar parado já que todos os inimigos causam dano ao tocarem em você, caso você tente jogar como se fosse skyrim ou um boomer shooter você vai morrer bem rápido.

Mas o diferencial desse jogo é o sistema de amigos, dependendo do caminho que você seguir no jogo tem a possibilidade de escolher certas combinações de aliados para te ajudar no combate, os quais é bom gerenciar pois são bem uteis durante todo o jogo.

Dificuldade:
Depois que pegar o ritmo do combate o jogo se torna bem fácil, não chega a ser entediante nem nada do tipo, já que você ainda tem que ter um certo cuidado e gerenciamento com a saúde do personagem e energia dos aliados, por conta da falta de dificuldade em certos pontos o próprio jogo te barra de entrar na fase final se você não tiver feito amizade com os 8 aliados disponíveis no jogo, caso contrário seria muito rápido fechar o jogo (e um pouco frustrante).

Sobre o progresso, cada morte no jogo te libera algumas melhorias para o personagem e detalhes para agilizar a próxima run, assim você pode ir diretamente para oque importa no jogo.
Você também mantem todas as moedas e Bombas acumuladas nas partidas anteriores, oque agiliza MAIS AINDA o progresso no jogo.

Fazer 100%:
Não envolve nenhum tipo de grind maligno, números de materiais ridículos de se obter, pelo contrário ao fechar a campanha do jogo só restavam duas conquistas que eram conseguir 999 moedas (mais rápido do que parece) e morrer 15 vezes (esse foi mais demorado, mas só precisei me jogar no acido 10 vezes).

Pra quem eu recomendo:

Recomendo para alguém que só quer jogar um jogo simples para se divertir, e obviamente não está esperando nenhum tipo de história complexa que te faz questionar oque é a vida. Pois esse é o tipo de jogo que você pega em uma promoção por estar barato e curioso do que se trata, joga em uma tarde e zerar no mesmo dia. Não me arrependo de ter comprado o mesmo ele é divertido, relaxante e não envolveu nenhum tipo de dor de cabeça.

The game is neither really good nor bad. It is very repetitive after 1-2 runs. To get to the final "boss" you have to collect all 8 stars. You get stars by collecting companions. You only get them if you choose the correct dialog option and if you choose the wrong one you have to start the run from the beginning.

The final boss fight is very easy and anticlimactic.

Overall, the beginning is quite good and entertaining and the rest is bad. For 17€ it is not recommendable as it has neither real replay value nor a good story.

GAMEPLAY

For brevity, I’ll call the game “Away”. “Away” is a first-person adventure game with rogue-lite elements, featuring randomized encounters and dungeons. Controls feature movement, attacking, jumping, and sprinting. The game comprises of levels with enemies to defeat and secret areas to explore, presenting challenges such as… Deciphering damage mechanics.

"Away" is a game that gets on with it quite quickly, presenting logos and seamlessly integrating the intro with the main menu, thus allowing the Player to jump right into the action. That’s good! The game boasts stylish, anime-inspired visuals, featuring neat environments and peculiar 2D Character sprites… Though the human Chaacters seem off-putting. The story is presented in typical JRPG fashion, utilizing text boxes for dialogue.

While gameplay instructions are generally clear, minor issues like depth perception with enemies and interaction methods arise, though they are easily overlooked. The sound effects and music are decent, inspired by anime (as can be expected). The main “funky” mechanic of Character switching introduces a captivating visual filter. Overall, the game's presentation is fantastic, with only slight exceptions.

STORY

The Player assumes the role of a Character living with their grandparents, who discovers a mining company causing chaos in the basement. The company's actions are not environmentally frienly an so, armed with a stick and the help of affected individuals, the Player addresses the situation, involving table tennis.

The narrative is nonsensical and, while it serves as a vehicle for the gameplay, it lacks significance or impact, offering minimal choices that do not greatly affect the experience at all.

CONCLUSION

6/10. A very pretty, and decently entertaining, game. It is a bit tedious to get through, but I’d recommend it to more casual gamers, or I’d suggest getting it for your children (no younger than 7, if you’re letting your kids do anything on a computer and they’re 7 or less years old, you’re doing some silly stuff).

It’s more fit for the bag of mediocrity, yet I feel as though it shines brightly enough to warrant a spot under my belt.

It's a cute game with some awesome visual style and I appreciate the roguelite mechanics but it's got a few major problems. First is that I had to stop playing because I was getting motion sickness. I don't know if it's the view bobbing or FOV or what but it hit me pretty fast. Beyond that, the other major problem is that the combat just doesn't feel very "fun." Melee doesn't line up well (and that's all you start with) and projectiles feel floaty. Enemy variety and "AI" also seems very lackluster. I might give it another shot later but I think I'm done with this for now at least.

Een vrij eenvoudig te begrijpen Rogue-lite, niet zo moeilijk als je eenmaal begrijpt hoe het spel werkt!
Van tijd tot tijd had ik niet de behoefte om vijanden in een heel gebied te doden, vooral omdat de vrienden die meespelen in je play-through een energiebalk hebben en als deze eenmaal leeg is, is er geen manier meer om dat personage bij te vullen.

AWAY: Journey to the Unexpected gives you a stick and sends you off to an artistically gorgeous but unengaging world with a gameplay that leaves a lot to desire and causes the game to lose its charm.

The gameplay doesn't feel as special as the art style does and it's not particularly memorable in anything it tries to do. Most of the core mechanics used are well-known, but the game twists them in weird ways for no reason and turns it hard to make things out. Besides, despite claiming to be a roguelite, AWAY has close to no replayability value or experimenting to be done.

Now, on to the technical issues. There's no aspect ratio control and changing the resolution doesn't change the aspect ratio either, just the render resolution. If you're playing on an ultrawide display, half of the UI gets cut off and thanks to the aforementioned lack of aspect ratio control, the only way to fix it is to play the game in windowed mode.

A Short and Flawed yet Cute and somewhat entertaining Game. Too bad it slightly falls short of a recommendation.

[Long Review]
I wanted to recommend this game. At the beginning I was enjoying myself, however during the late game and Achievement Hunting this games cracks started to show. In the beginning this game was kinda fun I enjoyed going through Procedurally Generated dungeons in First Person killing charmingly animated enemies with only a stick it was interesting. However it was the repetition that worn me down. The Combat wasn't good but serviceable it was hard to tell the distance between you and the enemy. This made it hard to avoid damage in some cases. I admit there was a Dot that changes color when near an Attackable or Interactible Object however it was too small and wasn't enough to determine distance. The Procedural Generation wasn't varied enough creating stages that were exactly the same as other runs. The Stage Design combined with the Procedural Generation wasn't engaging enough to keep the gameplay interesting. The Game lacked enough Enemy Variety to keep the gameplay engaging and challenging boiling down to samey boring gameplay on repeated playthroughs. The Boss variety was also not very good with about Three different Boss encounters in all. The Story wasn't great or In-depth which would be fine, but the Characters lacked the Personality and Characterisation to carry it or match the Art-Style. More Character Dialogue sequences and Interactions would have went a long way towards fleshing out these characters. Lastly the Support Characters are pretty OP. I guess this was an over compensation for your character being a kid with a stick. There could have been more strategy implemented in the combat to keep it interesting. Overall Away was a charming game with a charming Art-Style but the constant replaying of levels for Unlockables and Achievements dragged the gameplay down. I honestly hope these Game Developers try again. This game was very unique with a charming Art-Style.

Игра способна приятно удивить сложным коктейлем из жанров, оригинальным дизайном локаций и персонажей и общей необычной атмосферой, но скорее всего расстроит недостаточным объяснением игровых механик и неудобной системой сохранения прогресса. В довершение всего проект обладает очень небольшой продолжительностью, осознание чего внезапно свалится на вас, как только вы достаточно освоитесь с основными тонкостями её геймплея. С другой стороны, игру всё-таки можно порекомендовать всем, кто ценит неординарные проекты, ставшие возможными благодаря свободному полёту фантазии их разработчиков.

I'm recommending this because I have no real reason not to, but it's pretty unmemorable.

It's not a great game, nor is it terrible. It's just simple and repetitive. The characters and story have no real depth, and the gameplay is bland, although the graphics are pretty nice.

It's probably better for children or inexperienced gamers than others (in the time I played, I saw no offensive content), and I bought it on a pretty heavy sale, which may repeat in the future.

The tutorial is bad and the idea of the game is not made clear from the beginning. There are different routes that lead to the same ending. You will have to take routes multiple times to complete the game. Betweens routes and deaths your progress (items and level) is kept. The dungeons are slightly randomized, but do not expect too much from it. Got this for free from in a random bundle and it was a surprisingly fun 3.5 hours of game play. The price they ask is way too high. Similar game I have played is Windscape.

To summarize, fun little time waste on a boring night, but do not expect much.

I just can't recommend this game. The visuals are amazing, but the gameplay itself is just meh at best. If you die, you have to do EVERYTHING again. yeah, everything. it doesnt matter how far along you've made it, you gotta do it all again. the combat mechanisms are repetitive, and enemies can hurt you in odd ways and from large distances. also kinda laggy and jumpy in general.

I beat the game. Took longer than it should've because I was looping back to the start many times and didn't know where to go.
I'm not a big fan of looping games. It's a little bit lazy in terms of game design.

This game is gorgeous to look at and the combat is fun. Level designs are random and can be kind of fun. But the looping and short length of the game make it a no buy.

Only get this if you're really attracted to the look and awant to spend some time in an anime style world like this. For that it's not bad. 4/10

This game is sort of a rogue-like game where you play the game till you die then restart the game but with permanent benefits gained each life. Your gold and items also carry over. It was a fun little game with scenic music and interesting, creative artwork which go along side simple but fun game play. What I didn't like about the game was that there was no save so that if you left in the middle of the play through it would restart you to the beginning without any progress made. Spoiler alert! [spoiler] Another thing I didn't like about the game was you had to restart if you missed a "speech check" and that made the game a little repetitive because you need to pass those speech checks to progress sometimes. Lastly the ending was kind of a let down. [/spoiler] I received this game from a humble bundle so it was sort of free that's why that box is checked

Cute aesthetic
Simple controls
Fun dialogue
Unique characters
Somehow made me feel nostalgic
Dying is rewarded with permanent upgrades so it feels less punishing to start over

Short , 4-7 hours to complete
Low replayability once 100% completed with the story
It could provide a bit more assistance getting the first few friends unlocked for newer players.

Impression:
This is a fun little game that I'd recommend to anyone who enjoys platformers or is new to gaming in general. Definitely buy this game when it goes on sale.

I really wanted to like this game. It's clear the developers are very creative and imaginative! However, the combat just sucks. Enemies can peel away at your health from behind or glitch into you without warning. Multiple times, enemies just straight up glitched through the floors while I was trying to fight them. Also, the filters over the friends' vision made them a lot harder to use to the point that they felt like a power down in some regards.

While I really wanted to enjoy this game, I find it hard to. Despite less than an hour of playing I can say, without a doubt, that the combat and environments drag this game down hard.
The art style is the biggest positive this game had; all of the characters are expressive, well drawn and lovely to look at, and the music is decent to boot. However, the environments were bland, with even the randomly generated caves feeling like bloat and just being a bore, and the main character has an incredibly short ranged melee attack only that was unfun to use, making combat something to avoid. Almost any other character was better to play as, which you can only do for a certain amount of attacks, making me want to avoid combat even more. This game was really dragged down by the poor combat system and environments, the only thing worth getting it for would be the art, which you can just watch a video for.

[h1] Story [/h1] Wir spielen einen Jungen der bei seinen Großeltern lebt. Seine Eltern hat er schon Lange nicht mehr gesehen, er weiß nur das sie auf einer Geheimen Mission sind. Als dann plötzlich Merkwürdige Wesen bei uns Zu Hause durch den Keller einbrechen, machen wir uns auf ins Abenteuer um heraus zu finden, wer oder was dahinter steckt

[h1] Gameplay [/h1] Wir bewegen uns in der First Person Ansicht und können sowohl entweder mit Maus & Tastatur oder mit einem Controller spielen. Beides funktioniert wunderbar. Wir beginnen in unserem Zimmer und können uns frei durchs Haus bewegen. Hier gibt es aber kaum etwas zu sehen. Durch den Keller können wir dann ins Erste Level gehen. Hier gibt es dann 3 verschiedene Random Generierte Dungeons in denen wir Schalter finden müssen um eine Tür zum nächsten Bereich zu öffnen. Dabei stellen sich uns verschiedene Gegner und Fallen in den Weg. Manche Gegner schiessen mit Projektile und andere können halt nur uns im Nahkampf angreifen. Wir sind ausgerüstet mit einem Stock, der uns als Einzige Waffe zur Verfügung steht. Leider muss ich sagen, das ich die Hitboxen sehr Merkwürdig fand, es fühlt sich einfach nicht ganz richtig an. Man kann nicht richtig einschätzen wann man den Gegner trifft und wann der Gegner uns trifft. In den Einzelnen Level, sammeln wir Gold, was wir dann beim Händler ausgeben können für Powerups wie z.B. Kracher (Bomben), die wir jederzeit werfen können. Man kann auch bis zu 3 Begleiter bzw. weitere Spielbare Charaktere rekrutieren und jeder Zeit wechseln. Diese haben allerdings keine Lebensanzeige sondern Energie und wenn diese verbraucht ist, kann man den Charakter nicht mehr verwenden, es sei denn man kauft sich Burger. Wenn man stirbt, startet man wieder in sein Zimmer aber alles was man gesammelt hat (Gold & Items) bleiben erhalten (Rogue-Lite Element). Zudem erhalten wir Erfahrungspunkte durch das töten von Gegnern (diese werden uns allerdings erst angezeigt wenn wir gestorben sind, es füllt sich dann ein Balken und man schaltet nach und nach Verbesserungen frei wie z.B. mehr Leben oder eine stärkere Attacke). Das Spiel an sich ist relativ kurz und man kann es sehr flott beenden. Ich hatte beim durchspielen das Gefühl, dass das Spiel nicht wirklich fertig geworden ist und man einfach nur gegen Ende hin gerusht hat. Das Intro hingegen ist Fantastisch, es ist ein Anime Opening mit Guter Intro Musik. ich habe schon gegoogelt ob es davon einen Anime gibt aber scheinbar ist es nicht so

El nombre lo dice claramente

Sos un guachin que los viejos desaparecieron y tenes que encontrarlos. Despues de pegarte un porro y hablar con animales te vas a un mundo fantastico lleno de gente rara que tienen un bardo con una supuesta empresa de construccion que les esta haciendo pelota la tierra que podes reclutar como aliados si le respondes correctamente a sus broncas y otros tantos bichos del OGT que directamente te vienen a fajar.

Claramente estamos ante un port de Android dedicado a los mas pequeños. Engatuzado por la intro detras del menu principal inspirada en personajes de Akira Toriyama, te ponen en un juego que visualmente no esta mal, hay que decirlo, pero es todo lo que tiene para aportarle al juego. Despues lo de los aliados es mas que nada una cosa obligatoria para poder terminar el juego, ya que tampoco se explota mucho.

Resumiendo, si es para tu bendicion, compralo. Si es porque tenes ganas de jugar un RPG que se vea bonito, quedate con lo bonito porque de RPG no tiene un joraca.

I wanna like it, but not at the price tag. The art assets are great and I think with a lot more time in the oven and a greater focus on plot or expansion of abilities would have helped this greatly. For 16ish USD its tough to recommend but its ok for around 5 bucks. I hope the developers keeps on trying to make new games. Plenty of potential at least.

Got this game in a humble bundle so it was 'almost free' and for that it's absolutely worth it!

Love the art style, and the cute characters. Combat is satisfying and it's even more satisfying when you realise you're a kid running around with a stick killing space robots. Story is short but good and I had a lot of fun playing. The companions and the looping style of gameplay is quite rewarding.

Would recommend picking up on sale for a few hours of fun.

This game looks really cool, it even has some cool ideas, and has some pretty silly jokes and character. But sadly, it's shallow, grindy gameplay, lack of functional settings and controls, straight up broken game mechanics, buggy characters doesnt get outweighed by it's positives. This game seems like something SOMEONE had put a lot of passion into, then something happened and they pushed out a crappy buggy mess. It's really sad honestly, this game seems like something that could have been a classic gem, but instead it's just a polished turd where a jewel could have laid.

Great Indie game.

Its combat is not very impressive, you just need to try and click when it looks like the enemy is close enough. This is mostly because of its art style and the 2D sprites inside a 3D world.

The art style is really pretty though and is engaging enough with the "companions" you can recruit, which are used for other combat styles. (eg. Shooting fireballs / golden bullets, creating health, doing extra melee damage.

Everytime you die, the game is reset and possibly unlocks more content which are just more maps with a few more enemies and some new companions to make use of.

Its a really cute game and definitely worth buying on sale. But the normal price is probably not worth for what you get.

Is a wonderful rogue-like that felt challenging to learn but relatively easy to master, by the end making you feel very powerful just through improvements at the combat.

Pros:
Amazing art style
Satisfying skill curve
Characters are pretty fun and unique

Cons:
Combat is a little simplistic though fun
Game is probably worth <£5 since the experience is 3-4hrs long
Story is quite simplistic

God I want to like this game, the art style is so cute and the levels are pretty. But that's it.
The combat is clunky and you can get chain attacked by just touching the enemies and it's really hard to judge when an enemy will hurt you or not based purely on their distance from you. And when you die you have to go right back to the start of the game unless you unlock checkpoints either by levelling up or by progressing further.
The levels are also too big, most of my play time was just getting to places so dying was extra punishing.

This game is horrible… I was actually positively surprised when I started the game, because of its unique art style. I really like the cardboard stand look of the characters. But I then got to play…

After being fascinated by the look of my character’s room, I immediately got disappointed. There is no story. The game starts weirdly by letting a dog tell you, that someone broke into your basement. You then go out and explore three mines to activate levers and open the factory. Wow. Impressive. But this is just the beginning. I don’t want to spoiler you. I just intended to give you a short inside.

The main characteristic of this game is the melee combat. You are in the first person and you need to fight those creatures with a stick. All you do is left click on your mouse. Yes. That’s the whole combat system for instance. And the problem is how horribly bad it was made. The hit boxes are incredibly stupid, the range is strange and it all just feels weird. Furthermore, you only have 3 lives. Once you lost them, you need to replay the whole level from the beginning. How is this still a thing in 2021? Especially for such a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. I don’t have a real problem with having to redo levels generally. But in a game, in which the melee system is badly done and therefore enemies easily hit you or snipe you from a far distance… wtf… it is just a bad idea to implement this feature.

Despite that misery, you can find bombs in crates or use special characters with long range to kill enemies at distance. But the characters are limited by their energy and the bombs by the amount you found.

The boss fight was okay, but I recommend being at full life when going in.

I must agree with other reviews. I really wanted to like this game, but you can’t like a game whose main gameplay feels like it was coded by apes. This is unfortunately a no-go for me, which is a pity, because the art style is really well done.

Bon, le jeu est mignon mais c'est malheureusement une des seules choses que l'on peut lui attribuer.

Globalement le "jeu" est répétitif est globalement assez vide.

Niveau gameplay c'est pas bien riche, on a du kiting à foison et les seules différences qu'il y a se trouve dans les compagnons que l'on peut recruter. Par ailleurs l'un des seul intérêt qu'à le jeu se trouve dans le fait de recruter les compagnons ce qui se fait à travers une boite de dialogue et qui revient la plupart du temps à trouver par hasard la bonne combinaison.

Naturellement le jeu boucle tant que l'on a pas recruter un nombre suffisant de compagnons, chaque nouveau compagnons apportant une étoile, nécessaire à la progression.

Les ennemis n'ont globalement rien d'intéressant il doit y en avoir une 20aine de différents en comptant les bosses.

Donc non le jeu n'est pas bon, mais ça fait une "démo" potable si elle était gratuite.

Une répétitivité décevante...

AWAY: Journey to the Unexpected est un jeu qui, de première vue va vous accrocher la rétine, vous surprendre. Visuellement c'est très agréable, coloré et l'utilisation de la 2D pour les png est très originale.

Répétitivité, oui c'est un peu le but pour un Rogue-Lite, malheureusement quand les donjons et les bosses des mondes/biomes sont les mêmes on ne peut qu'avoir mal au ***.Malgré ça, l'utilisation de plusieurs "amis" rencontré pendant votre run changera votre gameplay ainsi que votre vitesse de run.

Un jeu sympa, à prendre en promoUne belle DA, un bon gameplay mais un level design vraiment répétitif

just the worst melee combat imaginable. I think it would be fun if not for that. but you spend a lot of time hitting things with sticks in the game, and the dynamics of what hits and what doesn't are just boring. A FPS mod would be amazing, though.

The game play gets repetitive. I like the different world views for allies. It just feels hard to justify because it just feels unfinished and a lot of interesting elements don't get expanded on or polished. I have almost all the awards, but didn't feel like playing more for the last one and I feel like that says a lot.

I can't say enough nice things about the graphical style. It definitely drew me in. I love the colors and the environments and especially the visually appealing characters.

This game is a difficult game to recommend to just anyone, but is also not a bad game to not recommend.

While the game's design can seem rather basic, it is a rather unique take on the roguelike genre. There is not much hand holding, not much of a tutorial and it relies more on the player trying things out. discovering and figuring out what to do on their own with minimal help.

There is not much complexity and it is also rather short once you find your way around and how to play it to reach the end goal. The length is not a negative factor, but instead a positive due to how the game is designed to replay levels a few times. The random dungeon generation helps a little, but you will encounter much of the same after a few deaths.

Those without much patience should skip this game, otherwise the flaws and sometimes confusing design choices can become frustrating without coming in with an open mind.

If the art style appeals to you and the statements above have not dissuaded you yet, give it a shot during a sale and you may find a short and enjoyably experience.

This guide is more around neutral than positive, but we don't have that option on steam. I enjoyed this rogue-lite game a lot and it was easy to get to 100% but there are things that could have been better.

At the start, the game felt quite hard. I had heard that others have beaten the game before they got the achievement for 15 runs and my first 5 runs went horrible and I didn't even come close to the first boss fight. So I expected that I'm just horrible at this game and would need a bit more time. After a while, I got used to how the hitboxes in this game worked and found some very helpful friends which give you in-game abilities. And I was able to beat the game in around 10-11 runs, so the achievement for 15 runs was also my last one.

The goal of this game is to find friends and beating areas to be able to find more friends. This part sounded fun but was tedious. To recruit a friend the first time, you have to choose the right options in a conversation, and you can only have the conversation with them once each run. So you should learn from your mistakes and choose other options the next time. After a while, this was just annoying, and I'm very glad that once you've recruited them the first time, a new run you only have to talk to them if you want to take them along your new run.

My biggest pet peeve is how big the maps are without much interesting in them. Going to a friendship cube (Which you need to be able to recruit a friend) and walking back to a friend takes ages while there is not much to do on the map. I think that maybe 20 to 30% of my game time was walking on the map from A to B. It felt like a way to make the gameplay longer but with that a lot more boring. If the maps were smaller and just easy to pick things up and get to the NPCs (friends) to talk to them it would feel a lot better.

I do recommend this game because it is fun and an easy 100%, but I wish it was a lot more fun. It had a lot of potentials.

It's not overly long, and a large part of the game relies on you re-treading what IS there.
However, what IS there is charming. The music is great, the aesthetic is wonderful, and it feels like a fun little action platformer from days of old.

It feels like an utterly fantastic student game, or perhaps a really low budget game made by industry veterans. On sale, I'd say it's worth picking up.

The Positives: Music, Theming, the attention to detail like every character having their own vision type, the beautiful animation, and the decent boss fights.

The Negatives: Sound bugs: Many SFX are not properly tied to the SFX volume slider. As such, they are max volume at all times. Unfortunately, these are also all of the loudest/worst SFX that this could happen to: Exploding lightbulbs, breaking cameras, and robot death, to name a couple. "GO" from the space knights appears to have this issue, and there's more besides.

Also negative, the very basic hit system. Basically there is a half second window where you can hit the enemy, but they can't hit you. This is pretty annoying, and until you figure it out it's not very obvious why you are taking damage. You have to get close to hit them, but then you get hurt every time. You have to figure out there's this tiny zone where you can hit and they can't, and manage all enemies in that zone.

And last negative: Really pretty short. What's there is polished, particularly visually, really well. But the intro animation, aesthetic, and honestly standard price point really leads you to think there's going to be more game for your game. The dev's claim 5 hours-ish, I beat it in 2.8 and I did a whole extra run to grab a money achievement. And that was 5 runs.

The fact that the new areas don't have their own dedicated dungeons is a let down, it's a weird idea that you'd unlock a new area only for it to lead to... the same dungeon. And that all 4 areas use the same mechanics, hit 3 switches. This is the student-game feeling.

Overall, still very charming and well made. When your biggest complaint is you want more, that's definitely not the worst sign!

This was a pretty cute game. The graphics were cute and unique, and the whole battle system was interesting (as anyone in your party was pretty much used as a "skill" with a limit on how much you can use their attacks, so in that way, they weren't really a normal team member). The in-game volume controls were a bit wonky and didn't work as it should (when you adjust them, they do work, but not all the time, for example, loading up a new area had them "reset" even though the bars never actually changed). I don't really play any rogue type genres, so I'm not sure how this fits in as a roguelite or not (some reviews and players mention that it does not, so take that as you will). I will say, the game isn't really hard and after a couple runs, it does become really easy to beat bosses. Even playing more runs seemed to spawn less monsters in general. The very last boss battle was pretty cute, albeit disappointing as well (it was waaaay too easy for a final boss). I did enjoy the dialogue aspects of the game, and that your dialogue choice did matter on whether or not the character would join your team. Unfortunately, for as good as the game was, it did seem way too short. There could have been so much more content to the game that it seriously felt like a missed opportunity.

Overall, I really enjoyed this game. If you struggle with difficult games or are looking for an easy game, then I would definitely try this one out.

It's fun. Don't expect to spend your life playing this game.

If Skyrim were a food - it's a mighty three course meal that have you begging for mercy by the end of it. Hell, I never finished it.
If this game were a food - it's a snack. Something you nibble on after a hard days work. It's nice, colourful & you can pick it up or leave it whenever you want.

As such -I would say this game is still a little expensive in today's post-covid economy. But when the going gets easier, treat yourself :P

Great game idea and art style, however the game is too short having beaten it in just over 2 hours.
The levels feel the same every time with little changing between them.
There is little to no point in collecting many coins in the game as I found you can get through everything without using the shop much. Even than the shop has 3 static items that never change; a slot for a new friend, a burger that refills the friend energy and bombs.
If the game was longer and had more characters to friend it might be worth is, but this is maybe worth $3-4 on sale. Its a good 2 hours, but that's it.

I've pretty much done everything in 4 hrs, and could have done it a bit sooner. It's fine for what it is, you got through a few different bigger areas, recruit a max of 3 characters per run, fight through some uninspired dungeons with a bit of procedural generation and have to restart every time you reach the last door without having recuited everyone, and level up a bit to get some more moves for the main character and some fast travel ability. The outside areas are too big for what they are, as there's little in them-the developers seemed to realise that with the last beach area and made it smaller, but you get a sense their ambitions were a bit bigger. The dungeon layouts after the 1st go are pretty boring and you rush through them, and only the 1st boss can vary between 2 different ones. The abilities of the allies are varied and fun, but you wont ever get to use them too often as each run is so short. The most effort seems to have been put in the menu cut scene. But still more positive than negative.

TLDR (but full text gives better idea):
Pros - art and music very good vibes, nice sense of achievement, came out wanting to see more.
Cons - Some boss fights underwhelming and repetitive, unexpected lack of character development, some stinky trial and error causing unnecessary repetition.

The art style and music is a real nice vibe. Overall, it is a pretty fun game to play and it's clear a lot of effort and love has gone into making it, however there are some flaws I want to point out:

> I found most boss fights easier than swarms of some of the regular enemies, especially at the start of the game where I was still learning combat. I only took one hit from my first boss fight.
> Some progress is limited through trial and error. A few characters require you to correctly answer a series of dialogue options (which aren't particularly obvious either) to get their star which is annoying considering the only way to go back is to kill the same boss you've killed several times previously, die or quit to main menu.
> Without spoiling the end, the final boss fight is cool but kinda underwhelming considering the prep you do for it.
> Opportunity missed for character development. The game is based around finding friends to add to your team, yet I barely know anyone. The characters you find in your house also don't really add anything to the game (though the cat is very cute).

Despite this, I really would like to see more of this game. I feel like it would have worked better as an open world type of thing because the world is really immersive, but a little confined. I still do recommend it because there is a strong sense of achievement as you get better at the game and kill bosses faster.
