Gioco a turni carino.
L'ho acquistato scontato, ma è valido anche del suo prezzo originale. Le dinamiche del combattimento e delle abilità sono carine, con un albero delle abilità non molto ampio ma appropriato con il numero di ore necessarie per terminare il gioco; peccato che i livelli non sono molto rigiocabili e, il problema principale a mio parere, è lentezza del gioco stesso: non tanto per le animazioni dei diversi personaggi, molto tempo è speso affinchè le diverse animazioni e movimenti dei personaggi alleati e nemici terminino, rallentando molto il flusso del livello e creando frustrazione quando compi una mossa sbagliato o se hai bisogno di ricominciare il livello da capo (in quanto gli autosalvataggi avvengono tra più turni tra di loro, creando salvataggi che sono ad una ventina di minuti l'uno dall'altro).
A parte questi dettagli dal punto di vista dell'efficienza, il gioco ha il suo charme ed è carino lo humor che utilizzano nel corso dei livelli e ho passate bene le ore a giocarlo, consigliato per gli appassionati del genere.

Скажу сразу я рекомендую взять игру только если будет скидка и цена будет меньше 100 рублей, к сожалению больше она не стоит.
Есть такое выражение: "замах на миллион а удар на три копейки".
Вот так и тут. Графика, музыка все это вторично. Основное чем завлекает игра это то что вам дают возможность поиграть за чужого и поубивать забавных человечков. Идея на самом деле очень интересная и я добавил игру в желаемое сразу как только появилась. И изначально планировалась что в игре будет игрок против игрока (не знаю как это планировалось реализовывать возможно разработчики и сами не знали по этому все скатилось к простому сюжетному приключению).
И вот тут вот проблема, с одной стороны реиграбильности нулевая (да можно быть извращенцем и ставить задачи самому себе но такие люди и электроды к интимным местам подключают что бы их било током при неудаче. Т.е. это не наш метод) а сама игра очень короткая. Всего 7 уровней, неплохих и если не париться об очивках то все проходится часа за 2-3 не больше. Но в них есть юмор, простенькие загадки. И все.

[h3]Short but Enjoyable Stealth-Tactics Game[/h3]
The game is more of a puzzle game than a tactical game, because of turn limitations (related to bonus score and achievements) that often force you to finish missions in a certain way. But of course you can ignore those achievements and play game as a regular tactical stealth game. The game has some tactical depth as you can upgrade your Grunts to three different types of units, each with various skills and upgrades, although the stalker is the most crucial due to its high damage from the back ignoring shield and ability to move through vents. However, due to enemy variations, you'd need to use all types of units at some point.
It is fun trying out different strategies and while the turn limitations sometimes cause issues, the challenge mostly increases the enjoyment of the game, especially because the game allows saving at any point, which limits frustrations when you need to check paths of enemies and such.
The game is not very long, and only has seven levels, each of which can usually be finished under an hour. The challenges add a bit more gameplay. Overall had fun playing it.
The only negative thing I have to say about the game is that you cannot skip or speed up enemy turns, and have to wait as the camera switches to each enemy within view as they slowly take their turns. I'd say I've spent about one-third of my gameplay time on that only, especially in the final level, where the boss-mech is always in view.

Aunque la idea inicial, los tráilers y las capturas de pantalla lucen geniales, en realidad se trata más de una estrategia de marketing ingeniosa que de un juego sólido. Attack of the Earthlings ofrece una experiencia superficial, repetitiva y, en muchos momentos, desesperante.

El juego dura entre 6 y 8 horas y consta de solo 7 misiones sin posibilidad real de rejugarlas. Todos los enemigos y eventos están completamente predefinidos y siguen exactamente el mismo patrón cada vez, lo que elimina cualquier tipo de sorpresa o variación táctica. No se pueden repetir niveles ya completados, y si quieres volver atrás tendrás que empezar una partida desde cero. Los enemigos emiten sonidos ridículos, el humor rara vez funciona y la música se vuelve repetitiva muy pronto.

I was enjoying this game, in spite of its kind of low budget, jank feel, until I got to the third level, which required having just one, helpless unit sneak around without getting caught. It was awful. Just annoying and not fun at all. After trying to power through for somewhere between 30 and 60 minutes, I decided enough was enough. Probably won't play the game any more.

A very fun & cute game. Took me about 7.7 hours to beat, and I had a lot of fun doing it. A couple missions got frustrating due to a lack of a quick save/quick load feature. Which the game BADLY needs. But despite that each mission has fun little combat puzzles to figure out and work through. Nothing was too complex and after a few reloads here and there you can usually get your way through nearly every level.

One negative I would give to the game is that you only really need 1 of your pets. The Stalker does everything you need. Especially once ranked up. With the exception of a single unit type that requires the ranged pet, it kills your guys when you get close, I never found a need or use for the other pets. The stalker did it all and nothing else could come close.

The game was funny too. Made me chuckle several times. The comedy is very inspired by the "Mars Attacks!" movie and it reminded my of the "Evil Genius" games when it came to animations and art style.

Solid, fun, quick game. No real replay value. Once you play through it your done. No reason to replay the missions unless you want some achievement you might have missed.

Идеальная маленькая игра на пару вечеров. "Стелсовая тактичка на вечерок".

Я уже отвык от такого:
*Нормальная оптимизация: пк не горит, не одного бага - самоё близкое - это, когда из засады убиваются гражданские бегущие во время хода - юнит застывает до конца хода.
*Дали всё то, что обещали, - ни одной буквы не задала ложных ожиданий. Даже сверху ничего не появлось.
*Живость - почти каждый ход заполнен смешной репликой или смешным фоном, на последних уровнях.

Всего на всего 8 уровней по где то часу, считая скипоемое обучение, но каждая с изюминкой: кроме трёх первых разогревающих: то беги на время из локации, то обороняйся, то мины, то строгий стелс, то бегай за убегающими врагами.

Длина короткая я её за день и 1 вечер галопом, но по насыщению, не возникнет того, что ваше время тратят впустую, что бы издателю хвастаться "временем удержания игрока", что бы этим хвастаться инвесторам, которые сами в игры никогда играли и не сыграют.

Из каких то минусов: Третей уровень с бюрократией, остался более напряженым и запоминающимся, чем вся следующая игра, но понял это после того как прошёл игру.
Сюжет: простой в идеальном смысле для тона - не пафоса, не глубокой сатиры, не сухости, не непреднамеренной глупости, он есть и он забавный, но из запоминающего, только наверно Тревор.
Сложность: если игра похоже на антаркцион, то так оно и есть - в ней если вдуматься тяжело проиграть, но выдумывать стратегии прикольно, и награды за скил есть рабочие. И всё же финальный бой, я считаю не дожатым, при том, что перестал стараться. А я себя считаю средним игроком в тактики.
Бонус за время: призывает играть оперативно, но мне лично это мешало послушать шутки роботов.

Если бы у меня были бы дети, я бы ему обязательно подарил такой антаркцион - их достойный уровень.

Просто хорошая маленькая игра.

Hallo liebe Steamgemeinde,

zuerst möchte ich sagen, dass ich Attack of the Earthlings deutlich reduziert gekauft habe. Den reduzierten Preis von etwa 3 Euro ist es definitiv wert. 13 Euro dagegen, wären mir zuviel gewesen. Und hier die Gründe dafür.

+ Das Spiel insbesondere die Menschen darin, sind urkomisch. Was durch die Grafik eindeutig unterstützt wird. Amüsante Kommentare, die bei bestimmten Stelle der Story kommen, lockern das ansonsten strategielastige Spiel auf und machen einfach Laune.

+ Obgleich die Grundmission über das Spiel hinweg sehr eindeutig ist, bietet jedes Level neue Herausforderungen. Neben neuen Fähigkeiten und zunehmend stärkeren Gegnern hat jedes Level einen kleinen eigenen Storyteil, der eine Anpassung der Spielweise erfordert.

+ Das Spiel vermeidet durch seine Kürze eine unnötig in die Länge gezogene Story, auch vom oft langwierigen Aufbaupart vieler Strategiespiele ist keine Spur zu finden.

- Das Spiel hat eine recht geringe Spieldauer und nur einen geringen Wiederspielwert.

- Leider kann man den Schwierigkeitsgrad nicht ändern und für erfahrene Strategiespieler ist es definitiv keine echte Herausforderung.

- Attack of the Earthlings ist eines der wenigen Spiele, die man heut zu Tage noch beenden muss um das Tonausgabegerät zu wechseln. Das ist dann doch eher Anfang 2000 als modern.

Fazit:
Wer ein kleines humorvolles Spiel sucht, kann mit diesem Game schöne Stunden verbringen. (Wenn er nicht gerade ein Fan von (High-) End Kapitalismus ist).

Es ist bewusst klein und schlicht gehalten, sowohl grafisch, als auch von der Komplexität her. Also nichts für fortgeschrittene Strategiespieler oder Fans einer detailreichen Grafik. Wenn ich dem Spiel ein Motto geben sollte wäre es vermutlich „Anmachen und einfach losspielen“.

Interessierte sollten bei einem guten Angebot zuschlagen, da man es vermutlich nicht mehr als zweimal spielen wird.

Changing my original review. The game is fun, and it is funny, and if you can get it at a steep discount, it's worth it. However, it also has some shortcomings:

1. Desperately needs a minimap.
2. Edge scrolling would be nice.
3. Graying out abilities that can't currently be used would be helpful.
4. Tell the player ahead of time how many turns are "par" for that level, since resources depend upon level score.
5. I'm sure there are some others I can't think of at them moment.

My thumb's up is contingent upon the steep discount. At full price or even half price, it's a thumb's down because there are less frustrating games to be had at that price.

Минусы:
Мало контента - всего 7 миссий, что недостаточно для полного раскрытия потенциала
Ограниченный выбор юнитов как у игрока, так и у противника
Балансные проблемы - некоторые юниты могут быть слишком уязвимы
Простые механики - отсутствие строительства базы и найма новых бойцов

Miło i sympatycznie było odwrócić role i z ludzkiego najeźdźcy (bo tak w przypadku kolonizacji kosmosu należy nas postrzegać), stać się raz potężnym "obcym" (ba, nawet matką roju). który zaciekle broni swojego domu (pomysł w sumie znany, ale wciąż rzadki).
Attack of Earthlings to typowa "turówka", dość krótka, raczej prosta (chociaż bywały sytuacje, w których save/load był niezbędny, bo gra błędów nie toleruje), z całkiem niezłą grafiką i zapętloną w kółko tą samą, choć przyjemną dla ucha, muzyczką.
Niby nic, ale dawka czarnego humoru i ciekawy sposób rozgrywki wciągnął mnie do tego stopnia, iż grę "pyknąłem z marszu", nie żałując ani chwili spędzonego czasu. Ktoś porównał AoE do X-coma i słusznie - jak dla mnie, to chyba najtrafniejsze porównanie, z zaznaczeniem, że mówimy o polu walki (X-com był jednak poza nim, bardziej rozbudowany).
Krótko podsumowując: Jeśli ktoś lubi gry turowe bez przesadnego "efekciarstwa", ta pozycja, choć nie jest może jakimś (póki co) mega hitem, wg mnie - zasługuje na uwagę i szansę, aby w nią "popykać". Ja bawiłem się przednio i z cichą nadzieją czekam na jakąś kontynuację!

This is a relatively short Xcom-style game played from the perspective of an insect-like alien species. The writing is funny, though often predictable, and the missions are just different enough to sustain the fun factor for the game's duration. The 7 missions will take most players 8-10 hours to complete. Attack of the Earthlings es un SRPG sencillo, gracioso y directo. El objetivo del juego es cargarse a una corporación minera compuesta por una legión de burócratas estúpidos, que ha tenido la mala suerte de ir a molestar el planeta de una raza alienígena que está compuesta, principalmente, por una matriarca capaz de engendrar a otros aliens con tan solo devorar cadáveres. Ese es el planteamiento, ese es el desarrollo y ese es el desenlace. Entre medias hay mucho humor corporativo y algunos niveles que se sienten un poquito más guionizados de lo deseable. Poco más. Un juego muy fresco, de los que da gusto descubrir por sorpresa.

First of all this is a very short game, about 7-8 hours if you take it slow. It is also a pretty easy game and has no replay value unless you are gunning for all achivements, then it can be a real challenge since I've heard/seen it has some crazy ones!

But that is not where this title shines, it is HOW it is done and the humour! It is simply a hilarious turnbased tactical game! If you see this title on sale I highly recomend it, cause it had me smiling... A LOT :) If you grew up with tactical turnbased games, RTS/RTT games you OWE it to yourself to play this through once - IF you find it on a good discount ^^

Avant tout, le jeu est souvent présenté comme un "XCOM inversé" : même s'il est vrai que le système de déplacement et de combat rappelle fortement la série, AoE doit être considéré comme un tout autre jeu. Il sera en effet injuste de le comparer, compte tenu de la différence de budget et d'objectifs. J'aborde ce point car 1 évaluation sur 3 que l'on peut lire, fait référence à XCOM (la mienne aussi maintenant !).

En fait, la dimension tactique est bien plus réduite, AoE est davantage un jeu d'infiltration, car vos unités sont quasiment toutes sujettes au "one shot" par les ennemis. Par conséquent, la phase stratégie consiste en un évitement des adversaires afin de les embusquer. Pour cela, vous disposerez de 3 unités distinctes en plus de votre Matrone, qui elle doit survivre tout le long du niveau.

C'est malheureusement un premier point négatif, soit le manque de diversité et la répétition d'un niveau à l'autre. J'ajouterais aussi que l'une des unités est clairement moins intéressante que les autres. L'aspect tactique vient de deux unités, l'une ayant des skills adaptés à la manipulation des ennemis, tandis que l'autre est une tueuse, avec les plus dégâts du jeu. Cela permet ainsi de contrôler au maximum les humains, lesquels suivent des itinéraires précis mais seront toujours attirés par le bruit.

Il s'agit d'ailleurs de la mécanique principale du jeu, car les portes et actions (dévorer un corps, tuer un ennemi, etc.) vont causer du bruit et modifier les rondes de garde. Par contre, ce sera plus simple de tendre des embuscades, car votre unique ressource - la biomasse - vient des corps dévorés. Il est donc nécessaire d'éliminer soldats et civils, la biomasse récupérée vous permettant de créer de nouveaux sbires puis de les améliorer (ce sont les "unités" auxquelles je faisais référence).

La progression est simple et linéaire, on suit les objectifs du niveau et une fois celui-ci bouclé, on reçoit un montant de mutagènes qui dépend de la performance : accomplissement des objectifs secondaires, nombre de tours, nombre de pertes, etc. Ces point serviront ensuite à débloquer des compétences pour vos unités et à améliorer leur efficacité.

Comme évoqué en premier paragraphe, le jeu est assez court, soit une dizaine d'heures au maximum pour finir tous les niveaux, un peu plus pour ceux qui visent le 100% succès. Le point le plus négatif étant la faible rejouabilité : il n'est pas possible dans une même sauvegarde de refaire les niveaux, il faudra refaire une toute nouvelle campagne à zéro. La difficulté est unique, pour le meilleur et pour le pire : dans l'ensemble je la trouve modérée, en tout cas pour son premier run. Ensuite, une fois qu'on a fait les niveaux, c'est beaucoup plus simple de les réussir.

Il n'y a en effet pas de notion d'aléa, les points de spawn sont les mêmes, les emplacements des objectifs ou objets également. C'est principalement pour cette raison que la rejouabilité est très faible, car d'une sauvegarde à une autre, le jeu sera identique à 90%. La part de 10% restante dépendra surtout de la façon dont vous jouerez, vos déplacements étant le seul facteur de différence.

AoE reste toutefois un jeu sympathique et réussi, qui propose un mini scénario doublé avec une touche d'humour. C'est plutôt divertissant d'être dans la peau des extra-terrestres combattant l'envahisseur humain capitaliste.

The short: Very fun and very funny, but not very long.

The long: This game is quite interesting. I have always liked playing games from the 'bad guys' perspective, or rather the 'non-human' perspective, for in this game. Because you technically aren't the bad guys. Yes, you do go around killing humans, some of which are kinda innocent, but they came to your planet to mine every resource and kill everything they can get their hands on to begin with. The humans in this are comically evil, and comically dumb. I was actually chuckling at several parts in the game. The writing is simple, but pretty good and decently funny. The story line is decent too.

The game play is also rather simple. You only have your starting Queen alien, and from there you make basic drones which can evolve into three different specialist aliens. The more humans you kill, the more biomass you collect, and thus the more aliens you get. You can have an even faster, sneakier drone/assassin, a ranged disruption unit, and a big slow tank creature. Every situation in the game calls for one of these units. Sometimes you can finish a level using only one or two types, other times you need to use them all, and their unlock-able abilities. As you finish each mission you get upgrade points depending on how many humans you eliminated, and how fast you were.

I don't really like that in my stealth turn based combat games. Being forced to go quickly, that is. It didn't work for me with XCom 2, and it doesn't really work here. For XCom 2 it literally ruined the game for me, but not here as it is optional. I can see how they would add it in as a factor to maybe get more playtime/more replay value out of the game, but in the end it just had me rushing through levels to try and max out unit level up biomass. I think more levels, possibly larger levels, with more 'puzzles' to solve would have been much more preferable; then maybe an alternate 'speed run mode' unlocking at the end when you beat the game?

Oh well, like I said, the game is fun and funny. The voice acting is great. It plays pretty simply and rather well. The super streamlined UI is nice, but it and the overall graphics for the game kind of make it look like something you would end up playing on your phone or a tablet. It has a charm to it, but, a sort of cheap charm? Anywho, I didn't get all that much playtime out of the game. It was fun, but not quite $17 CAD fun. I would recommend it, but only if you get it on a decent sale.

This is an entertaining turn-based tactics game, where you play the role of a xenomorph whose planet has been invaded by pesky humans. Killing and eating humans provides biomass that you use to create additional units. The somewhat ghastly premise is balanced by the rather silly villains and humorous scripted events.

The game has seven maps, each of which provides a slightly different challenge. It's not a very long game (~9 hours for a careful playthrough that hit all the secondary objectives), and replayability is low unless you go achievement-hunting, but it's worth buying at the right price point.

This looks really interesting, I enjoy turn based tactics games like this, but it just feels like too much of a chore to play. I enjoy the humor in it as you actually play the aliens against the humans and watch the humans do stupid things. The concept of being the aliens in an XCOM looking game is an interesting change instead of being the humans. There are certainly some good ideas but the game play just isn't very gripping, in fact, it feels tedious.

There's two big things that really suck the fun out of the game for me enough to stop about half way through the second mission. First, you can only move one character at a time and they move slowly, particularly the drones. There's a lot of open areas where you're just moving your characters on to the next room and sitting there watching them move slowly down a hallway one at a time just makes the time between encounters excruciatingly long. The other big issue is how unresponsive the mouse commands are. I often found myself clicking several times just to attack an enemy. It gets incredibly frustrating constantly clicking and the game just not responding.

It's a shame because these two seemingly minor issues completely ruins the experience. If the devs would just fix it, I would have kept going with the game and probably would have liked it.

Its kind of sold on being a "Reverse X-Com" but the only part of the game that is like that is the moment to moment turn-based gameplay of each level. There is no base, or squads, or loadouts. You gain points to spend on upgrades between missions and there's a linear sequence of tactical puzzles for you to solve with jokes during and between. Thats it.

The writing can be pretty funny, the visuals make it look a bit like a cheap Xbox 360 game and the campaign isn't very long. The UI is a bit lacking and the actual responsiveness of player input can feel a little clunky. The actual gameplay can be pretty fun with setting up ambushes and sneaking around, if a little sluggish.

Ideally for a sequel/update they'd let you move more than one unit at a time, speed up unit actions, give you some options during levels to affect later ones and have more unique scenarios than "kill/break this".

Its a decent Tactical Puzzle game with a fun theme, and the comedy does work way more than it doesn't, but I wouldn't pay full price for it. Here's hoping someone makes a proper reversed X-Com game in the future, as the concept has legs.

I actually gave up on this one about 2/3rds of the way through the game, but I'm giving it a thumbs up because I feel like I got my money's worth out of it. The concept is pretty good, the humour works pretty well, just bits of the execution got too annoying to persevere with, though I might come back to it in the future.

There are a bunch of little annoyances, like no ability to skip to and cycle through your troops, having your screen controls locked during the computer's turn and confusing level design, where I just didn't feel rewarded in playing so quit out. But if you're willing to put up with some annoying quality of life, or are just more patient generally, there's enough here to be worth a look.

As others have pointed out, this is Invisible Inc. played as the ‘bad guys’. I bought the game on sale, so I think I got a very good deal. It's otherwise too short and non-replayable for the price.

Pros:

- interestingly tactical, given the multiple unit types
- on-the-nose sense of humor, sometimes it gets a chuckle out of you
- an enjoyable and different experience

Cons:

- not really re-playable
- research tree is linear, progression is a bit boring
- UI and interactions can be *very* annoying: right clicking seems to work 3/4 of the time, enemies take too long to move, can't tab to next character while another animation is in effect, etc.
- building on the above: watching the enemy turns can be exasperating on large maps, you spend more time staring at soldiers than make your own moves (e.g. mission 4)
- the game looks a bit ugly to me

Some minor gripes:

- Missions 3 and 6 are far too hard, not a lot of fun
- Enemy paths aren't predictable (as in Invisible Inc.), so player choices have a bit of randomness to them (instead of feeling tactical)

All in all, it's a decent enough game; but if you've played Invisible Inc., then Attack of the Earthlings might seem a bit unpolished. It feels closer to Early Access than a polished, thought-out release. Needs some love to become great :)

一款小品级战旗游戏，玩家扮演守卫家园抵抗地球人入侵的外星异形，开局一虫后，下蛋来战斗，需要避开武装部队的视野来潜入敌营（杀光了也是一种潜入，虫后也需要通过猎杀来攒资源繁殖后代）并完成目标，时不时会出现一些幽默的对话和惊喜的剧情。小异形可以通过消耗资源来向不同品种进化，获得专属能力。难度不算太高，不过因为所有武装部队对小异形几乎都是一击秒杀的，所以如果想避免死亡或者场面失控往往需要勤用SL大法。比较让人在意的缺点是：每个章节开启时会把后续章节重置，意味着重打章节1会让章节2及之后章节中积攒的局外资源清空，到底是想最大限度发展还是够用就好，请自行权衡。
全成就难度不高，只是略微费时。
总体给好评，推荐买key或半价以下入手。

A cute little game with lots of sarcasm and dark humor. A lot of love for detail went into this. Just sad that the campeign is relatively fast over and then there is nothing else to do. Sure, one can go for speed runs and archievements, but the replay motivation of those is not really high on me.
Perhaps a random mission generator, or expansion will be coming. It would be worth it.

if you are a fan of stealth strategy games or just love games like 'Destroy All Humans', you will love this game. it requires thought and some practice to really get down exactly what is going to work best against a specific map or how to best tackle a group of enemies but the fun of this game is worth it. think 'aliens' as seen by the Xenomorphs, or the Zerg from Starcraft, and you have the right idea.

The one down side is next to no replay-ability. For this reason i recommend you get it on sale if you can, but worth getting all the same. Great fun and loved the tongue in cheek humor found throughout the game.

Un juego que se termina en unas 6 horitas como mucho. Sigilo y táctica por turnos bastante bien llevados. Se hace algo corto, especialmente porque al final sientes que no has podido usar todas las herramientas que te ha dado el juego por falta de una dificultad mayor. I paid 6,74 € for 16.1 hours of fun and I haven't even got all of the achievements yet! This is cheaper than a movie and also has contains much more value!

I reloaded a lot, because I try to avoid any units. If you play more casually, this game should have about 9-10 hours of fun for you!
This game is polished! That means I didn't encounter a single bug or crash!
The game supports 21:9 WQHD ultra-wide. Unfortunately, the "Junkfish" logo and the wallpaper for the main menu are low resolution and look strange in ultra-wide.

The humor fits the theme and is partly brilliant, partly... childish and disappointing. I really liked: The turret (but I feel like there was something missing in the finale) and the birthday cake. I didn't like the names (Pecker, Dickinham *yawn*) and the missing deeper character motivations.
The game is not a lifeless hull, it was made with love. You can see that because of the countless details woven into the levels (references, easter eggs), the hand-written lines and voice acting for the important characters. There are even proper cutscenes (intro, events, ending). Unheard of for a <10 € game!

The gameplay is turn-based and the levels are not randomly generated. That means replay value is almost not there if you are not playing for the achievements. That being said: The gameplay mechanics compliment each other, allow for upgrade choices and are well made.
The turn-based strategy can be very boring though. There is one level with about 30+ mines and you have to wait for every. single. one. of them to rotate on each enemy turn. That was very frustrating.

One major point of critique I have is that you can't access the level menu freely to repeat missions. If I want to get all the achievements for example, I either have to make a save for EVERY level or play the entire campaign again. Because I couldn't just repeat levels, I had to play very carefully, save a lot and reload saves. That felt like walking on egg shells, broke immersion and wasn't fun to be honest.
Another point of critique regarding saves is that the game DOES NOT have cloud saves. I wanted to continue playing the game on my laptop when I was out of town and the game did not have the save files available on the other pc. That was disappointing.

According to the achievements, about 58% of people who own this game actually start it up and about 16% complete it. There is still room for improvement, but for such a small game this is probably quite good.

The game also didn't feel very challenging. Most of the challenge comes from prediction the patrol routes for the guards and hope for the best. So it's basically just figuring out the level structure etc.
The soundtrack was okay, but there was not a single head-banger in there unfortunately. So soundtrack choices could be improved. Sound effects in general were functional and flawless.
There should have been at least one "wilhelm scream" in this game. Unfortunately there wasn't.

I really like this game anyway! It's like a short entertaining novel with a lot of humor baked into it. I am hoping for a part 2 with more evolved humor and sentient turrets!

I bought this expecting a "reverse X-COM", but that's not what I got. But that also doesn't mean that I was disappointed. In the contrary, I enjoyed Attack of the Earthlings! It's just not a "reverse X-COM", not really.
Comparing these games is like comparing Star Wars to Spaceballs and by that I mean everything that follows can be applied to either pair (i.e. the games/the movies): They're not the same. One is goofy and lighthearted and has less substance, but it's easier to enjoy for people who aren't into the deep, complex shenanigans of the other.

X-COM is dark, gritty and has complex base-building and strategic gameplay. AotE is easier to learn since it has less depth/options, a more linear story, and it's undeniably funnier than X-COM... not because X-COM was bad, no, but because AotE is not meant be serious.
(The 1st NPC that you kill in the tutorial is pissing down a mountain path with his back to you while calling his secrete the "wrath of Neptune". The announcements of the humans' administator, which serve as mission updates and stuff like that, are sarcastic and ambiguous, and it's hilarious how he tries hush up the aliens' (your) presence while you devour workers and guards by the dozens lol)

Long story short: If you want a true reverse X-COM (dark and complex), you won't get served.
But if you want a lighthearted, entertaining, still challenging but not hardcore turn-based strategy game that features solid gameplay, strangely appealing gore (like in a Scott Ridley/Simpsons crossover) and black humor, and also makes you lose track of the time, [b]Attack of the Earthlings is the right thing for you.[/b]
(No joke, I just wanted to test it for a short time since I have other things to finish, and ended up "just checking it out" for over 3 hours lol)

It's definitely worth the low price. I even would've paid more for it, if it weren't so conveniently cheap, because imo it's good enough to justify a higher price tag that would suit the game's quality.

This is a great short game.

It's a turn-based strategy that allows for many solutions and tactics. Depending on the upgrades you obtain, each level can be played very differently. Everything in this game is well-made: the sound effects, music, and graphics. I don't think I've encountered a single bug. I did encounter some invading aliens, though, but managed to eliminate them all! I witnessed more bugs in the first 5 minutes of playing Diablo 4 than I did in 12 hours of playing this.

This isn't a game you will play for more than a couple of evenings, but not every game needs to be a huge AAA title. I've played my fair share of turn-based strategy games, and this one stands out with its creative mechanics and enjoyable gameplay.

I highly recommend this game, but take it for what it is: a fun, short turn-based strategy game that you could complete in 8 hours. The main reason I spent 12 hours on a playthrough is that I aimed for, if not perfection, then at least something close to it

If you are a fan of turn-based tactical games (like XCOM) you might enjoy this game. The concept beyond the game is interesting (an XCOM version wherein you play as an alien race that is being invaded by a human oil company) but the game feels a bit incomplete. Not only the campaign is very short, but the graphics, animations and NPC actions are very basic. Still, the game is fun to play, the and it has a lot of dark humor. The type of units that you can control are limited but they are well designed (perhaps the best feature of this game). As a fan of XCOM, I do recommend this game but would not give more than 7/10.

A really fun, well made game. It's not terribly long but each level is very well crafted, the missions are distinct and the attention to detail with the look and design of each level is some of the best I've seen in any turn based game. The humour is also genuinely good and gives me very strong Evil Genius vibes. Give it a go if you're curious and like the genre as it deserves more success.

L'être humain y confirme son statut de parasite ultime: débarquant pour s'implanter et coloniser, décimant les espèces endiguant son expansion puis ponctionnant les ressources lui étant utiles, jusqu'à leur épuisement.

Attack of the Earthlings met en scène une société d'énergie intergalactique, Galactoil, dont la nouvelle proie est la planète X13 ; sur laquelle évolue une espèce insectoïde, particulièrement agressive, que le joueur contrôle: les Essaimeurs.

Aussi cupides que stupides, nos colons sont voués à être décimés, assimilés puis recyclés ; afin que la Matriarche extra-terrestre engendre de nouveaux rejetons, se déclinant en sous-embranchements: Grunt (la troupe de base), Goliath (frappant fort et caparaçonné), Disrupteur (crachant une boule de bile corrosive) et Harceleur (posant des pièges). En outre, notre Matriarche est capable de prendre le contrôle d'un individu pour s'en servir d'éclaireur, conservant sa forme humaine mais devenant un légume sur pattes.

En découle un tour par tour tactique, se déroulant au sein d'un réseau de couloirs et de salles, mettant en relief l'infiltration et la coordination des attaques. Le concept est aussi simple qu'efficace, d'autant plus que l’optimisation se trouve réduite à sa portion congrue, se limitant à un arbre d'améliorations plus que réduit.

Dans l'esprit, l'humour proposé par Attack of the Earthlings s'inscrit dans le sillage d'une inspiration flagrante: Mars Attacks!. Le cynisme est au rendez-vous, les postures humaines tutoyant le grotesque, notamment celles du superviseur qui délivre des commentaires et des consignes stupides.

La direction artistique est aussi carrée que colorée, sans caractère particulier mais propre, les musiques inspirées s'étirant harmonieusement, en totale adéquation avec le contexte. Une bonne surprise les concernant.

L'expérience est concluante, Attack of the Earthlings se présentant tel un jeu d'appoint qui permet de souffler entre deux productions plus denses. Les mécaniques du gameplay sont vite assimilées et les à-côtés sont quasiment inexistants. Un titre qui ne retourne pas le cerveau bien qu'il induise un minimum de réflexion quand l'adversité prolifère, nous invitant à utiliser avec discernement les compétences propres de chaque entité extraterrestre.

Une introduction idoine pour ceux qui découvrent le tour par tour tactique, le titre allant droit au but, sans submerger le joueur, la pointe d'humour rendant l'expérience légère.

That's not a turn per turn game, it's just a die & retry with always the same mission. The 4th mission is just uninteresting, as you have to stealth through a building with plenty of guards, and just die endlessly until you figure out the patterns of the guards to sneak through. So not interesting, a waste of time, it's the level 0 of level design.

The only thing to save is the humour which is okay.
