I'm sorry devs. I have tried to enjoy your game but the awkward controls make it impossible for me to lose myself in the experience and fully embrace it. Sadly it's so frustrating to play that not even the amazing art style can make up for it.

I made it through the first section of the game after much suffering. I ended up beating the first boss by literally standing in place, Russian-roulette cycling through my weapons and lobbing whatever sharp object or explosive I landed on right at his face. Enthralling.

Trying to cycle my primary fighting hand through all the options felt like nails to a chalk board. Small kitchen knife? Sword? Farmer's fork with negative attack speed? Wildfire grenade (uhhhh)? Healing tonic (why the hell would you want to equip and heal with your attacking hand mid-fight)? Bow and arrow? Big pokey stick? An axe that only works if they are exactly 0.8m away? Then you've got your off-hand which is for... holding a torch, or a shield! Seriously? ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ useless. It feels like the game designer intended for the player to suffer.

(Disclaimer: Whilst I realise "oh lots of games are like that" they are at least playable - the controls let you do what you gotta do, when you need to do it. In this game you're frequently interrupting fights with an "Excuse me one moment while I dive into my handbag to find an appropriate weapon to chop off your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ head with, and also please remain at the appropriate range of whichever gun I pull out next. Thank you for your patience!")

I loved this game when I bought it, and fore a long time. But one day, I went to go play it, and it refused to run at all. I'd click the play button, it would switch to blue, indicating the game was running, then switch back to "Play" a few secodns later, indicating the game had closed.

No matter what I do, Apotheon remains unplayable.

So be advised, the game might just randomly become unusable.

Apotheon is a Metroidvania Side Scroller set in Ancient Greece. It has the most unique art style I ever saw of. They inspired from the fresks used in that era. I liked it very much. I played it on Steam Deck and encountered no problems.

[b] Story [/b]

Zeus had his fill of messing, harassing, rap*ng and killing of mortals so he decides it's time to go for Humanity. He orders all the deities in Earth to come back to Olympus, shuts the door on the rest. A famine starts. Fun stuff. You set out for the quest of saving your village. Some gods are pro humanity while the rests is okay with us biting the dust so you don't have to kill kill all of the Olympus which is nice.

Now bosses is where this game shines. Every one of them offers a unique way to finish them. For example, [spoiler] Dionysus quest involves of you try to drink absurd amount of wine set up in various places in the map. You don't finish it in time? Out you go party pooper. In Artemis quest you play a deadly game of tag. Artemis turns you into a stag and you need to pass 5 shrines so you can turn into human and hunt her back. Most fun I had was that quest. [/spoiler]

[b] Gameplay [/b]

Not much to say, It's a hack-and-slash. You try to shank the other dude before he shanks you. Weapons though? They are fun. A hammer that creates mini quakes? Like! It keeps the game fresh considering enemy variety is bit low.

Overall, it is wonderful game that worth the play. It was in my backlog for a while so it was nice to finish it.

In apotheon you play as a greek man from the village of Dion which is currently being destroyed because the gods have abandoned all men, with the help of hera you decide to take the fight to the gods.

I liked this game, I believe it has good combat even though sometimes it can be a little frustrating with the hitboxes and with the different type of swings.

The movement could be a little smoothed out but overall it is good.

The voice acting in this game is fenomenal, and the way it takes you through the greek mythology is really good, we have little mentions to things that everyone knows and things that I learned while playing this game. I really enjoyed the journey it took me on, and fighting the different gods.

The combat at times can be somewhat easy, especially if you correctly use pots.

The art of this game is also very satisfying, it is inspired by old greek art (I think?) and it looks great and fits the game.

There are several original zones which challenge the way you should and do play, also it introduces some mechanics along the game to keep it fresh and exciting.

I do believe that the weapons are a little bit to similar, although there are several weapons with unique effects, they all swing and hit basically the same, so much so that at some point during playing I just used whatever weapon was first in the list until it broke. Speaking of breaking I think the breaking mechanism makes you use every different kind of weapon and as a player who usually sticks with one thing, this is something that I appreciate immensely, this would be even better if there was a bigger difference in the weapons.

Overall I enjoyed the game and would reccommend getting it on promotion as it is a good 30 hours well spent

When Greek gods are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and Kratos has retired to the North, call Nikandreos!

This may be one of the best-looking 2D games I've ever played. Closely modeled on paintings of Classic Greece, especially the many we can still see nowadays on fine pottery of the era in museums, it's like the figures on them suddenly sprang to life. When every single screenshot looks amazing, you know you've won big time on an artistic level.

If only the game was just as good to play. Not terrible or unplayable but slippery, janky movement and combat make things more annoying than they should; it's like you aren't controlling a "puppet" but a device holding its strings, getting tangled all the time. Looking at other opinions, it seems to be an acquired taste, some may get more used to that, others less. Better keep the quicksave at hand to spare a few frustrations too much.

It deserves to be treated with a little extra patience though, not just to see all its beautiful art, there are genuinely interesting boss encounters and a fascinating ending.

Прекрасный платформер в стиле греческой эпопеи или боевика-мифа.

Совершенно уникальный, присущей Древней Греции визуальный стиль и строгое соблюдение терминов и культурного сеттинга.

Некоторые отмечают лёгкую сложность, для себя её не нашел. Мне было местами очень тяжело и трудно. Возможно, это связано с не совсем отзывчивым управлением. Я играл на геймпаде, может было стоило дать шанс клавиатуре, не знаю. Может у других все лучше было. Но главная претензия именно к "отклику".
Для некоторых можно отнести отсутствие локализации, но тут уже ситуативно (мне не мешало).

Проходится недолго, большое количество вооружения и врагов.

Купил её вслепую, даже не смотря трейлер и видео, о чём не жалею. Рекомендую! Особенно понравится тем, кто любит мифы и античный мир.

Definitely one of the most unique games on Steam. The story is interesting enough, but what sets the game apart is its level design, combat system, and art style. The game is a really solid metroidvania, with a range of interesting, diverse, and well-designed levels, offering plenty of side quests and secrets (rewarding players who like to explore), as well as a completely unique vibe throughout. The combat system reminds me of old Flash 2D shooters, which is a really nice association. The boss fights are also worth mentioning, as most of them are unique and different from what you might expect. Finally, the visuals are stunning and one of a kind, using old ceramic vases as inspiration. Even if you don't like this type of game, the art style alone makes it worth trying out. Wholeheartedly recommended.

The gist of the game is that it is just a 2D God of War with more Greek coded aesthetics. Its strength lies in its set design with its art style mimicking greek poetry art and the intricate level designs that match the personality of each god. Mechanic wise, it is clunky but you can get used to it. Overall recommend it for anyone that is remotely interested in Greek Mythology and Ancient Greece.

Play it. It's just perfect.

The artstyle, the music, and most importantly - combat are all top-notch.

I've played on the Olympian difficulty, which adds some combat tweaks to make it more difficult, such as incoming damage cancelling your current attack. Since the game gives you a roll ability plus the fact that all attacks need to be timed equals that it's just basically Dark Soul's combat, but in 2d, and surprisingly, that works quite well.

Now, for the thing that surprised me the most: all, and I mean, [i] ALL [/i] characters are voiced. The voice acting is very good and it genuenly feels like theese are characters and not people just reading the lines.

Now, the gameplay: you will be slaying bosses like it's Cuphead, and they're all actually pretty great: each has a unique style of fighting, unique attacks (duh), and most importantly, new mechanics. For example,
a fight with SPOILER ALERT! [spoiler] Artemis involves her turning you into a deer to hunt you down, and you must dodge her arrows to activate 5 altars, after which the roles flip and then you must hunt her down instead, while she tries to activate the altars, and it's super fun. [/spoiler] And every fight is unique like that, add this to the fact that every area you visit introduces a new gimmic, and you get a unique and fun gameplay that I do not think I've encountered in other metroidvanias.

So, if you like greek mythology and dark souls combat or just looking to have something to play on evenings, this is the game for you.

The game crashes far too often for me to give it a recommendation, even if in most other respects the game is actually great. However, once you're about 3/4 of the way through the game, you can expect a 50/50 chance of crashing every single time the game loads a new area.

Apparently, the game has had this crashing problem for the last ten years. It actually personally offends me... do the devs not care about how bad this makes them look? Are they expecting me to overlook it, pretend the problem doesn't exist?

I picked up Apotheon mostly because the art looked cool, but I ended up liking how it actually plays. Combat feels heavy and kind of unforgiving at first. You cannot just swing nonstop. Stamina runs out fast and enemies hit hard, so fights take some patience.

Exploring Olympus is fun, though I definitely got lost more than once since a lot of areas look similar. The boss fights were the best part for me. Each god felt different and beating them felt like I earned it, not like the game handed it to me.

The story is pretty light and stays in the background, which worked for me. Overall it is a tough but satisfying game with a really unique look, especially if you like slower, more thoughtful action games.

[h2]Nice side-scroller with a cool setting, but unstable[/h2]

(Review after 100%, took me 24 hours in two playthroughs (Warrior and Olympian, each about 12 hours))

[h3] Stability [/h3]

The Achilles tendon. On my current machine the game ran well, but crashed to desktop [b]a lot[/b]. Easily two dozen times over both playthroughs. Thankfully the game has a reliable auto save, so you usually only lose a couple of minutes of progress, 10 at the most.

I tested all available Windows versions. “lastupdate_fix” crashed the least after the start of the second playthrough, but still around 10 times. Save before each teleport/level change! It happened randomly too, but that’s where 95% of my crashes occurred.

My Windows system is very stable with other games. The only one I can compare this to is Hyperlight Drifter on my Linux NUC.

Outside of the crashes I encountered no major, game breaking bugs.

[h3] The fighting model [/h3]

Intuitive and straight forward. Fists are the quickest but have almost no range, spears are the slowest while having insane range (Sarissa). Every other melee weapon is in between. Arrows can be very effective. Some weapons have unique bonuses. Some enemies are vulnerable to specific weapon types.
Timing is everything. Many weapons can be used to slash or throw. You can either block an enemy or roll away. It doesn’t get too hard, even on Olympian. Tip: Use the Earth-Shaker's Hammer when you get overwhelmed by too many enemies.

[h3] Health and pickups [/h3]

You only get injured (Outside of minimal fall damage) once your armor is down to zero. Health and armor can be for a time overcharged. Enemies and object can drop health and armor pickups (Besides money, trinkets and ingredients). With trinkets (Either bought or crafted) you can boost certain stats and keep yourself healthy and your armor up. Money is not scarce, but you can’t buy everything and have to choose. Tip: Buying armor upgrades is wasted money, you’ll find them. Spend the cash on skill upgrades (Which make you hit faster and harder).

[h3] The interface [/h3]

Great to look at, bad to use. It integrates itself nicely into the game. But due to the [b]very[/b] large amount of weapons, traps, trinkets and bombs (Afaik it can’t be sorted!) in 4 menus (Melee/Ranged/Throwable/Consumable) makes the search for the right weapon unnecessarily complicated. And you’ll search a lot, since weapon durability is really bad (Due to it playing in ancient Greece). Weapons can’t be repaired.

[h3] The levels [/h3]

Levels are nicely designed. The settings change with each god you are currently challenging/”visiting”. Some domains are a little underwhelming (Demeter, Aphrodite), some are great (Artemis, Hades). The gorgeous minimalist, understated style (Very evocative of ancient Roman/Greek clay artistry) is kept consistent through the whole game.

[h3] The AI [/h3]

Nothing special. Enemies rush you and can block strikes and arrows, but don’t work together. Nothing too complicated or hard. Sometimes their way finding lets them down, which you can exploit (Chimera and Ares especially). The only particularly annoying boss fight was Poseidon.

[h3] Controls [/h3]

Great. Very precise and pretty tight. The only bad solution is heal/repair armor. It’s the same button.

[h3] Graphics [/h3]

No ultrawide resolution support, but that’s not a huge problem IMO.

[h3] Achievements [/h3]

Most achievements can be done in one run. Only one needs a second playthrough (Olympian). Most popped reliably, one had some issues (Bounty) but worked the second time. “Treasure Hunter” felt contrived.

[h3] Conclusion [/h3]

A cool idea, which sadly was very unstable. I intentionally didn’t write anything about the story. For those who know Greek mythology it’s pretty foreseeable.

For 80% off this was a nice, short adventure into a great art style. Nothing really memorable, but not bad at all. It could be great if it wouldn’t crash so much.

If “meh” were available as a score I’d give it that.

I am in love with this game. I have to write assignments, but I've been procrastinating and been playing for 4 hours lol. I haven't had the glitches or crashes many other people claim to have had, but the combat can be a little jank sometimes. I absolutely love the art and also the combat, in spite of the jank. The game isn't too difficult though and is very friendly to newcomers as the learning curve isn't very steep.
It also rewards exploration and it is well worth it to explore in the game coz sometimes you'll come across some hidden part of the map which may give you a pretty powerful weapon, but the weapons are never overpowered. The game also never makes you feel like you're underpowered either, so you feel this sense of glory and strength when battling the gods.
I still haven't completed my playthrough, but am absolutely in love with this game and would recommend it to anyone with an interest in greek mythology.

я хyй пойму людей из положительных отзывов по двум вещам: где они нaхyй отыскали в линейном платформере метроидванию а во вторых ощущение будто каждый третий отыхрал всего час два и поставил положительную оценку только за визуал (те кто наихрал больше самые авангардные аутисты так что гладю их по голове)

Don't get me wrong. Apotheon is a game with [b] really [/b] great ideas, an amazing art style and it's a fairly small game to enjoy on a weekend or with friends (with the local battles mode), but I can't recommend it.
As I already said, its concept is creative and cool, the problem I found were the obnoxious bugs and crashes. And we're not talking about some minor bugs or specific crashes when you do something that you shouldn't, no. We are talking about crashes occuring when you go to specific mission locations, and unless you enjoy restarting you PC everytime you find one of these (cause that was the only solution I found), the game becames more of a burden than an actual game. I really hope that this was only a me problem.
Ignoring that, the game is fine, with some minor gamplay problems (don't play with controller, it gets clunky really fast), but fine at the end.

I so badly want to recommend this game. It's engaging, aesthetically gorgeous, and I have nearly every achievement. When it plays well, it plays Well and I adore it. But that's just the issue.

I'm not sure I've ever played a game as buggy as this one. Sometimes you'll glitch into walls, but most egregious is how often it crashes. It's a constant threat looming over the gameplay experience. It seems in particular that every time you enter a new area or open a chest, you risk a crash. In my current attempt at replaying the game, I am completely unable to access the swamp despite reloading older saves. I'm not that far into the game and I could restart, but the knowledge that anything you do could have a knock on effect and stonewall you later on doesn't make that very appealing.

I desperately hope that one day I can come back to this review and change it to Recommended. But it's been 10 years now and the devs still haven't fixed this despite it being a frequent and game-breaking complaint.

Vůbec nechápu, jak mi tenhle skvost mohl tak dlouze unikat. Apotheon dokazuje, že i 2D hra dokáže být epická a nesmírně pohlcující. Nikandreos se hned na začátku ocitá v bitevní vřavě. Bohové už nedohlíží na lidstvo, tudíž všude vládne chudoba, hladomor a podobné nemilé věci. Zeus si zkrátka najednou usmyslel, že má lidí dost, tak poručil všem ostatním bohům, aby nám nepomáhali. Všechno ale není ztraceno a náš zdatný rek potkává Héru. Ta prý nesouzní se svým manželem a hodlá poskytnout Nikandreosovi způsob, jak se dostat do Olympu. Poté bude už na našem hrdinovi, aby našel ostatní bohy, získal od nich dary a nakonec se postavil samotnému Diovi.

Hra je opravdu parádní v tom, že je příběh strašně jednoduchý, ale zároveň účinný. Nepotřebujete žádné sáhodlouhé vysvětlování motivací jednotlivých aktérů, a přesto víte, o co tu jde. Každý z bohů je navíc jiný, někteří vás vítají s otevřenou náručí, protože s bohem blesků nesouhlasí, jiní po vás požadují splnění určitých věcí, zatímco ten zbytek se na vás mračí, jen se jim dostanete do zorného pole. Všichni bohové mají jedinečné prostředí skvěle odpovídající jejich nátuře, stejně jako úkoly či souboje spjaté s nimi. Tyto herní mechaniky jsou jedinečné pro každého z nich, tudíž je nikde jinde nenajdete a díky tomu působí hraní neustále svěže a inovativně. A věřte mi, že to chce mít za kloboukem, udělat každého z dvanáctky bohů jinak, a přesto zábavně.

Stejně tak musím vychválit i dabing. Tahle hra se s ničím nemazlí a jednoduše vám přináší skvostný hlasový projev všech postav. I ty vedlejší jsou namluveny skvěle, přičemž každý z bohů má přesně takový hlas, jaký byste očekávali. Vůbec jsem nepochopil, jak je to možné, ale když z někoho má jít strach, tak působí děsivě, když z někoho máte mít respekt, tak ani nedutáte a na slovo posloucháte a pokud je někdo hodně přátelský, tak cítíte tu přívětivou atmosféru. Dabing je zkrátka naprosto dokonalý a jedním z důvodů, proč rozhovory nebudete přeskakovat. Stejně tak scénář je úžasný, lze tu dokonce najít i útržky z řeckých mýtů a všechno se to čte jedna báseň. Pokud máte rádi tohle prostředí, tuhle mytologii, tak tady je jí neuvěřitelné množství a je zpracována co nejvěrněji. Až jsem u toho vrněl blahem a rozplýval se nad všemi těmi narážkami.

Velkou pochvalu si zaslouží hudba. Je epická. Každá ze skladeb tu má své právoplatné místo a dokáže potěšit vaše sluchovody. A báječně odpovídá i dané situaci. Moje nejoblíbenější skladba je na konci recenze. Grafická stylizace je nádherná a díky různorodým barvám se prostředí neokouká a všechno to vypadá jako oživlé malby z řeckých váz. Až má člověk neustále potřebu típat jednu fotku za druhou.

Hratelnost je taktéž na jedničku s hvězdičkou. Apotheon vám dává zpočátku pár úkolů a je na vás, v jakém pořadí je splníte. Poté se na to nabalí ještě pár dalších, ale jinak je to vcelku volná záležitost, kde je jen a pouze na vás samotných, kde co uděláte a jak moc budete dané lokace prozkoumávat. Nejlepší je, že prakticky neustále jste za něco odměňováni a vaše zvídavost nepřijde nazmar. Pokud si všímáte prostředí, lze nalézt tajné místnosti, kde jsou speciální truhly s pokladem nebo lepším vybavením. Do některých míst se vyplatí vloupat, ale musíte často počítat s odporem lidí zde žijících. Získáváte peníze, za které si kupujete recepty na lektvary, lepší výzbroj, lepší bonusy ke zbraním a celkově tomuhle nemám co vytknout. Vedlejší úkoly jsou tu také, je jich sice jen pár, ale o to lépe jsou zabudovány do hry. Například támhle naleznete nějaký vzkaz na zdi s názvem určité lokace, takže se tam vypravíte a pobijete pár nepřátel, kteří u sebe měli třeba klíč k pokladu. Pár bohů je tu dokonce nepovinných, přičemž každý z nich je opět jiný a je radost objevovat všechna ta překvapení, které hra nabízí.

I souboje můžete řešit po svém, protože máte po ruce hromadu zbraní, kdy některé mají speciální vlastnosti a využít lze jak ty na blízko, tak i na dálku. Případně si můžete vyrobit bomby a nebo dokonce povolat ze záhrobí vlastní mini armádu nemrtvých (či vlka!!!). A když dojde k nejhoršímu, není problém vzít třeba kámen ze země a hodit ho směrem k nepříteli. U zbraní mi zpočátku nevyhovovalo, že se ničí, ale ke konci jsem měl takovou obrovskou zásobu arzenálu, až mi to vlastně nijak nevadilo. Za prvé jsou rozesety všude možně po mapě a za druhé je možnost si je za pár peněz koupit, takže tohle problém není.

Nepřátel tu je jen pár druhů a některé jsou extrémně otravné – až příliš rychlí a agresivní psi, strážní s křídly a moji (ne)oblíbení kostlivci, kteří se po smrti opět složí za pár sekund dohromady. Pocit ze soubojů je ale skvělý, cítíte každý zásah jak nepřítele, tak i vás. Vaši protivníci jsou často hodně agresivní, nejsou úplně hloupí a dokážou vaše útoky vykrývat štítem. U bossů mě potěšilo, že na každého platí jiná taktika. Musíte dle určitých stop přijít na slabé místo daného jedince a nejde je umlátit (většinou) jen prostým šermováním.

Závěr je pak hodně epický, až jsem i zíral. Výstup na samotný Olympus je doprovázen smrští zkázonosných blesků, bojechtivých nepřátel a všudypřítomný liják jen podtrhuje vysoce nastavené sázky o osud celého lidstva. Cítíte v kostech, že přichází konec vaší cesty. Zároveň ale pociťujete jisté uspokojení, že jste se dostali až sem, do tohohle bodu. Nejde to ani slovy popsat, jak v každé vaší buňce víte, že tohle je ono, tohle je pořádný kulervoucí závěr, jaký si tenhle klenot zaslouží. Nebudu spoilerovat konec, ale říct o něm, že rozhodně nezklamal, by bylo ještě slabým ohodnocením. Byl fantastický. Na chvíli dokonce pocítíte i tu obrovskou moc, kterou třímáte a já si v duchu říkal, že nějak takhle má vypadat finále každé podobné hry.

Kdybych to utnul tady, tak se jedná o desítkovou hru. Dobrá, možná jen devítkovou, protože pohyb je občas horší a plošinky jsou často stěží na doskok. Jenže je tu jedna věc, která veškerý potenciál zadupává až skoro k nedoporučení. A tím je padání hry. Pokud se mi jakékoliv zápory hledají těžce, tak tohle je jediný, který vytane na mysli prakticky ihned a o to více zabolí, jak moc je tu přítomný. Hra mi spadla nespočetněkrát a pokaždé se tak stalo, když jsem se přesunoval do jiné lokace. I proto jsem ukládal, co to šlo, ale v některých částech holt uložit nejde, takže musíte pár minut opakovat. Nebylo to tak hrozné, že by mi hra padala každých patnáct minut, jak někteří píšou, ale třeba během poslední hodiny mi spadla třikrát – jednou po zhruba čtvrt hodině, podruhé po pouhých třech minutách a poté po tři čtvrtě hodině. A vždycky to člověka tak nějak vytrhne z dění, z toho ultimátního pohlcení a zamrzí to.

Hru jsem nicméně nakonec dohrál a kromě pádů jí nemám co vytknout. Pokud máte rádi řecké báje a pověsti, tak tohle je perfektní titul do vaší knihovny. Jen nezapomeňte co nejvíce ukládat.

P. S.: Osobně nechápu, proč je hra označena za metroidvanii. Je pravdou, že získáváte od bohů trvalé bonusy, ale nejedná se o nic, díky čemuž byste se dostali na dříve nemožná místa. Obdržíte třeba bonus k výdrži lektvarů či světélkování ve tmě, ale dle mě Apotheon metroidvania není. Což jí ale nijak neubírá na kvalitách.

Very pleasent game with a good story. It took me 13 h with the majority of side quests.

Pros:
- The graphic is very unique, with monochromatic sceneries. Nice music, well voiced dialogues.
- Fights are very nice with multiple meele and distance weapons. The majority of oponents can be beaten just with multiple smashes, but for others you have to find an unique way.

Cons:
- Navigating the map is a bit hard at the beginning
- Game likes to crash while new area is loading

Como diz a incrível Isabella Bosco "Mas que critério!". Apotheon foi um jogo no qual me surpreendeu em inúmeros aspectos, desde o cuidado na narrativa dos fatos até os mais pequenos detalhes espalhados pela gameplay. Me senti íntegra no universo mitológico grego a cada momento em que me aprofundava mais em minha jogatina. Mecânicas agradáveis, dublagem excepcional e uma dedicação da equipe que é possível notar de longe. É muito mais do que apenas uma gameplay indie, é uma experiência. A cada missão eu queria um pouco mais do deleite que era apreciar a obra de arte que os cenários me propuseram. E falando em cenário, que trabalho impecável tiveram os designs ao distribuir cada figura dentro da experiência. Uma arte viva, é assim que deveria ser a forma mais correta de mencionar está obra. A história e narração muito bem alimentadas com o suco da mitologia, bebendo da essência real do que é expresso nos mitos gregos, em conjunto com toda a ambientação que te transporta para o mundo em que o protagonista é inserido. Adorei a personalidade distinta e muito bem apresentada de cada um dos Deuses, mas o que me deixou uma incógnita até mesmo filosófica foi o próprio protagonista, que apesar de não ter uma fala sequer dita ao decorrer do jogo, nós conseguimos entender cada passo até o fim, sem sequer ser verbalizado pelo mesmo. Algumas pessoas relataram não ter compreendido o final, mas justamente por ser o que é que deixa livre a interpretações, e é isso que temos de sobra dentro dos mitos gregos. É muito mais do que um jogo, é de fato uma experiência.

It's a cute little game that will occupy around 10 of your hours. Metroidvania, quite easy, and a bit repetitive, but I liked the boss fights, the progression through the open world. Most of all, the graphic design is peculiar and it feels like you're in Greek pottery. Nothijng grandiose, but a good gane if you dont have anything else. 6.5-7 out of 10

The entire game is based on the visual aesthetic of playing on a greek urn. They do a great job with the art, music, and dialogue, but the gameplay itself is severely lacking. You go around collecting weapons [spoiler] and taking god powers [/spoiler]. The weapons have durability, but you'll never really have an issue of ever running out of weapons, so ultimately its more of an annoyance if you are trying to use a specific weapon only such as Midas to get more gold. The movement is fine, typical WASD movement, with ctrl being the dodge/roll button. The combat is severely lacking in my opinion. You have to aim with the mouse button in the vague general direction of the enemy, and then proceed with hoping to hit them. Sometimes the enemy will use shields which just makes the combat longer. The pathing for the AI is also an issue, you can end up with your allies or enemies just stuck in a weird location. All the power ups you get are rather lackluster. You can get an infinite light (But its only slightly around your character at all times), you can get a grappling hook (But literally no where do you need to use it to get to secret areas) for example. The biggest issue is that the game keeps crashing, and still has bugs, such as an enemy [spoiler] Posieden [/spoiler] being completely invisible during the boss fight. You basically should just autosave before loading any new zones.

So with all that said, if you want an artsy game, then this game will deliver it, but the actual gameplay itself just isn't anything grand

Где-то год назад пробовал поиграть в нее, но очень быстро бросил. Не нравился визуальный стиль с "вырвиглазными" цветами, и немного резко-кривая боевка. Я понимаю, что они хотели показать этим стиле, мол как на древнегреческих вазах рисунки... но перебор. Во всяком случае, можно было сделать картинку чуть глубже, тогда не так резко по глазам било бы.
Пару недель назад решил дать игре еще один шанс. Ощущения от визуала и боевки остались те же, но тихо-медленно игра проходила, потому что, в целом, прохождение приносило свою долю удовольствия. Разнообразие оружия, его разрушаемость, подбор и крафт предметов, некоторое подобие изучения Мира... и интересные боссы. Ну, не то что бы что-то потрясающее, но для такой механически простой игры, они разнообразны, как и задания в их локациях.
В итоге, Я не могу сказать, что игра прямо крутая, иногда бывает нудно и делал паузы, но постепенно прошел на все достижения. Кстати, о нудности, если не хотите проходить всю игру на втором уровне сложности - воспользуйтесь советом из гайдов по достижениям, что бы выбить последнее достижение, "Олимпиец".

Incredible art style and music are ruined by incredibly clunky movement, combat that's very difficult to follow, and one of the most disorienting/distracting designs for a map I've ever seen. I really wanted to love this as I find Greco-Roman myth fascinating and love it when games make use of that setting. But every mechanical aspect of this game felt like it was fighting against me. Why oh why is it that any time my character builds up momentum and starts running, he just randomly stops? Why does the roll sometimes feel quick and snappy, sending me far, but other times it's super slow and I barely move anywhere? Not to mention the teeniest aiming reticle for arrows/throwables that easily blends in with the background and also constantly snaps between different targets.

Overall: amazing presentation but frustrating execution. I don't want to be fighting against the controls themselves while also dealing with hordes of enemies zooming around

Every 15 minutes or so there's an error and the game crashes. While I was going to the swamp, an enemy grabbed me, threw me out of bounds and I died inside a wall. That means I have to re-do the entire area. It's these issues (mainly the crashing), that really doesn't allow me to give this a recommend.

Without these issues, the game would have gotten like 3.5/5 stars, but I can't in good faith give it anything more than a 2.5/5 stars.

This is a fun and visually striking platformer that I had a lot of fun playing. It had a lovely level of difficulty at 'just challenging enough to not get frustrated', though there are higher difficulties I didn't play at for those wanting more of a challenge.

The controls take a bit getting use to, but it had a high diversity of weapons and strategies and the levels were both very interesting mechanically and highly atmospheric in a linked way not a lot of games get 'right'. At 14 hours to play through for me it was also in that nice 'can play for an hour after work and finish in a couple of weeks' zone that I find myself more and more attracted to.

I played Apotheon twice completely. While my recorded playtime doesn´t reflect it because of offline play, THIS is an amazing Game that I highly recommend to play. One of my favorite games of all time. While it is already over 10 years old, it has barely aged due to it´s great game design and fantastic artstyle. 10/10!
