[i]Alwa's Legacy[/i] is the sort-of sequel/remake of [i]Alwa's Awakening[/i], didn't like the previous one that much, but this time the developers managed to improve on it in every possible way. For starters, exploration feels much more satisfying thanks to better pacing, faster walking speed, better button inputs, faster spell recharge, improved fast travel system and less punishing room design, while still keeping some environmental puzzles.

There are more kinds of collectibles that this time serve a purpose, and finally looking for the orbs is worth it, since they can be used as a resource to upgrade the three basic spells; experimenting with them also makes combat and exploration more interesting, causing a positive loop where you use the abilities to find more orbs that can then be used to explore the more hidden areas on the map. As for the map, it's still fairly basic, but this time it keeps track of the secrets you've missed, giving more incentive to keep on exploring if you're a completionist.

There are also passive abilities beside the spells this time around, one is kind of useless but the others (slowing down time, phasing through walls and temporary invulnerability to spikes) are good and let you tackle the room puzzles and challenges in different ways, instead of forcing you to do things in a certain way for arbitrary reasons.

The graphics are much more pleasant to the eyes, with some gorgeous pixelated backgrounds and cute character portraits; the NPC finally have some personality, making the world feel a bit more "alive" and not just a diorama of sorts. Plot is still nothing to write home about, but the way it's structured makes it akin to a fairytale, being divided in chapters and featuring book pages every time you defeat a major boss.

All in all, it's a simple but very enjoyable puzzle platformer, which shows that the team took their time to fix their mistakes and deliver a competent experience, while still being faithful to their mission of making new-retro titles balanced with more modern gaming design.

Bardzo fajnie się gra, jednak to typowa stara szkoła gier - trudna, bardzo czasochłonna, więc wole pograć w coś innego. Punkty zapisu są ok, gra jest czytelna, a gracz czasem jest robiony w konia przez swój odruch, co jest nawet zabawne. アートワークは非常に素晴らしい。
しかしアクション面が今一つ…。
頻繁に要求される魔法を介するアクションが非常に煩わしい。
魔法は一度使用すると時間による回復を待たないとならないため、一層テンポが悪い。
敵との戦闘アクションも広がりがないのが辛い。
上記にある仕様のために、魔法も敵との戦闘で使いづらい。
また他のレビューにもあるように、探索の導線が弱い。
どこにでも行けるけれど、進める箇所は決まっており、後回しの探索が必要になる。
さらに魔法強化が探索ギミックにかかわってくるものもあり、ポイント降り直しできるとは言え、要不要がわからず、進めなかったら魔法強化ポイントまで引き返さなければいけないのも、煩わしい。
パズルギミック自体は本当によくできているんだけれど、細かいストレスが頻繁に積み重なり、私はギブアップした。

Игра зашла на ура — прошёл на все достижения! Отличная эволюция первой части: из чистой 8-битки в сочный 16-бит с весёлыми пазлами (спасибо что оставили джамп блок в воздухе).

Обидно было без русского языка на старте, но умельцы сделали русификатор. За полный русский в A Void Hope с релиза — огромный респект, Elden Pixels! Пожалуйста, не оставляйте русских игроков за бортом в будущих проектах.

Жду третью часть в 32-бит стиле (PS1/Saturn/N64), и надеюсь — в 3D! Ведь любая хорошая серия обязана попробовать силы в 3D.

気になることは何でも試したり、行けるところはどんどん先へ進んだりと探索するのが楽しい。
手に入るアイテムを惜しまず使っても詰むことはないはずなのでドンドン使おう。

比起第一部来说算人类玩的游戏了。
虽然节奏还是略慢，不过机体性能全面增强，加上存档点传送功能之后跑图相当舒适了。地图右边两个特殊机制迷宫不给传送点做收集烦的要死。
继承自前作的元素系统和魔球系统这次做了结合，没玩过前作的话感觉很容易浪费魔球在闪电上导致跑图体验不够好。而新的法术系统仍然莫名其妙，每次用完都要手动充能，非常断节奏。
机体性能强化之后BOSS反而更弱鸡了，最终BOSS连打5个一模一样的痴呆阶段太无聊了...最后阶段也是毫无挑战性，莫名其妙就给弄死了。
地图水平和前作差不多，最终BOSS的迷宫设计的很好。
仍然推荐开启辅助模式。

Un juego muy entretenido con unos gràficos muy bellos, Alwa's Legacy nos cuenta la historia de Zoe, una chica que sin saber como ha llegado a una especie de castillo el cual tras un encontronazo con un hechicero encapuchado, tendrá que averiguar lo que esta pasando y ayudar a Alwa a poder seguir viviendo en paz.

[h2]Una jugabilidad muy buena[/h2]
Estamos ante un metroidvania que se maneja realmente bien, tendremos botones para atacar con nuestra varita, saltar, o usar los diversos hechizos que encontraremos durante la partida, hechizos que seguramente te acabaran dando acceso a nuevas zonas de la aventura.

De hecho, las mejoras en dichos hechizos te darán más opciones de llegar a sitios, ya que en algún caso he accedido por zonas que la forma de realizarlos no estaba pensado para hacerlos en ese momento (bloque verde con la segunda mejora, y la burbuja, sabiendo usarlos, puede hacerte llegar a zonas en las que llegarías más adelante)

[h2]4 Enemigos a los que vencer[/h2]
El objetivo principal es conseguir las 4 piedras que se encuentran repartidas en todo el mapa, esas piedras se irán colocando en el libro, el cual te irá contando más sobre la historia de Alwa y Zoe.

Cada zona tiene sus peculiaridades, y sus propias mecánicas, por lo que cada mazmorra será un aire fresco entre ellas e incluso tendrá sus propios objetos o hechizos para poder completar la aventura.

[h2]Una exploración muy agradable de realizar[/h2]
La exploración esta muy bien realizada, hay juegos que he jugado de esta índole que me ha dado más dolores de cabeza, ya sea porque son muy enrevesados, o es una tortura volver a llegar a ciertos puntos, en Alwa no pasa, ya que sus niveles exteriores no son realmente dificiles, y al estar marcado por zonas, es fácil saber donde esta y donde queremos ir.

Aparte encontraremos unas lágrimas que podemos usar en las zonas de guarrdado para transformarlas en teletransportadores, haciendo más fácil el moverse entre zonas.

En definitiva un juego muy recomendado, una historia que esta muy bien, aunque no sea una locura, enemigos muy entretenidos de combatir, mazmorras diversas y mejoras que te harán buscarle las formas de utilizarlo a tu favor parra avanzar por zonas que quizás tendrías que haber esperado un poco más para avanzar, muy divertido y recomendado.

El primer juego, pese a ser muy sencillo y fácil, desprende muchísimo encanto y potencial para una secuela que pudiera arreglar todos los problemas del mismo.

Para empeorar todo, al final del primero hacen un guiño a los 16 bits (la gracia es que el juego es prácticamente un juego de 8 bits), y lejos de hacer eso, han usado unos gráficos muy genéricos sin ningún tipo de encanto destrozando toda la ilusión que tenía de poder disfrutando de la saga.

El juego sigue siendo entretenido y mecánicamente ofrece lo mismo que el primero, pero a mí personalmente, la pérdida de encanto me ha quitado las ganas de jugar.

In my opinon, a very solid step up from Alwa's Awakening in everything except the music. dont get me wrong, i like the music in this game, but AA's soundtrack was just goated to me. the level design is cool, there are some interactions with power ups that feel very interesting and theres a surprising amount of tech in the game that lets you sequence break which feels nice.

Boss design was maybe a little lackluster, i didnt find any of them really troubling and they usually had a pretty easy cheese but also i think they did a good job keeping them varied. and at least each boss had different cheese.

I got it on sale and i'm very happy with the experience

Improves on pretty much everything in Alwa's Awakening (combat, exploration, puzzles, art).

Like its predecessor Alwa's Awakening, Legacy is a 2D Metroidvania with a throwback retro aesthetic and an emphasis on solving platforming challenges with its suite of magical platforming tools.

This time, however, the era is 16-bit, and it turns out not just the visuals have made a leap in quality: Alwa's Legacy presents the rare case of a sequel improving upon its predecessor in basically every single respect. Movement is better. Progression is better. The puzzles are better. Even the [i]music[/i] is better. As such, while the first game in the series was tough to wholeheartedly recommend, this is a much easier sell and absolutely worth checking out.

WARNING: There are missable achievements! If you are in Sylvan Castle, make a copy of your save file before raising the water or else!

+ A massive improvement from the Alwa's Awakening.
+ Double jumping green blocks and blue bubbles still work.
+ Equilibrium achievement can be obtained in normal playthrough. Rose Castle, Abandoned Ruins, and Eydie's Keep. Don't open the first door in Rose Castle. Instead, grab it and double green block jump to a mechanic near the save point.
+ You don't move like a slug anymore.
+ Can warp at any save point if you have a green tear to burn. There are plenty around.
+ Blue orbs are helpful to collect.
+ Health upgrades!
+ Air dash!
+ You can enter water without exploding, but you can drown.
+ Instakill spikes only exist in one dungeon.
+- Assist Mode exists, but it's not needed, except for finding all items after the final boss.
- Lackluster story. After the first game, you'd expect answers, but you get nothing.

Score: 9 out of 10. Recommended. An improved sequel, like Metroid to Super Metroid.

Un juego con plataformeo y toques de metroidvania bastante decente, con un pixel art y banda sonara de muy buena calidad. La jugabilidad es simple y sin muchas complicaciones, al igual que la trama que justifica todo el viaje dentro del juego, aunque tiene cierto componente estratégico en la administración de las mejoras de tus habilidades que puede facilitarte de sobre manera la exploración de las zonas. Aun así, en ocasiones se siente poco pulido, llegando a provocar momentos de frustración ya sea por distribución de enemigos algo injusta o situaciones con muy poco margen de error para superarlas. Aun así, sus aspectos positivos compensan lo anterior, volviéndolo un juego al cual darle una oportunidad.

Все на уровне, немного побольше бы сюжета, и было бы вообще отлично.
Проходится достаточно легко, трудности могут быть только в самом конце.
На 100% проходится примерно за 16-17 часов.

Игра продолжает сюжет предыдущей части [b]Alwa's Awakening[/b], но на сей раз уже в 16-битном стиле и в сопровождении очаровательного чиптюнчика. Мы все так же играем за Зои и снова спасаем Альву от козней Наместника. После возведения двойки в четвертую степень количество НПС и их разговорчивость несколько увеличились, дадут даже погладить милого говорящего поросенка!

Мои молитвы частично были услышаны и, хоть здесь и осталось цикличное переключение заклинаний, его использование было вынесено на отдельную кнопку. Аллилуйя! Да и вообще, по сравнению с первой частью играть стало проще. Скорее даже не проще, а удобнее. Управление стало более вменяемым, к тому же кастомизируемым, отзывчивость персонажа, особенно в прыжках и в воздухе, очевидно улучшилась.

Всего стало больше, всего стало веселее! Мир игры по ощущениям раза в полтора-два больше, чем в первой части. К трем старым заклинаниям, перекочевавшим опять же из приквела, добавилась прокачка. Биомов теперь куда больше, они довольно разнообразы, с индивидуальной атмосферой, а зачастую со своими законами. Есть замок, для продвижению по которому вам необходимо будет заливать его водой, в другом замке можно будет управлять временем, перенося окружение из прошлого в будущее и обратно, а в третьем дадут возможность управлять гравитацией и ходить по потолку. Точек сохранения тоже теперь наставлено почаще, кроме того, потратив Слезу почти любую такую точку можно превратить в телепорт. Также добавились к собирательству лепестки роз, всего их 12. За каждые 4 вы получаете +1 хитпоинт, за все 12 открывается дополнительный режим прохождения - Pacifist Mode. Собственно, название говорит само за себя.

Итого: игра красивая, интересная, добрая, удобная, честная, понравилась мне куда больше всяких новомодных [b]Ori[/b], с их отбитыми напрочь хитбоксами. Alwa’s Legacy is a retro-style Metroidvania made by Elden Pixels. You play as Zoe, exploring the magical land of Alwa by solving puzzles, unlocking powers, and fighting bosses. This is a sequel to Alwa's Awakening. Both of them can be played in any order (as both games are literally the same in storyline)

The game looks and sounds great. Its colorful pixel art and chiptune soundtrack give it a nostalgic yet fresh feel. Every area feels different, from forests to temples, and the dungeons are smartly designed.

Gameplay is built around three magical abilities: creating blocks, bubble platforms, and using lightning. These powers can be upgraded and are used in creative ways to solve puzzles and reach new areas. Exploration feels rewarding, and the map is clear enough to help you find secrets. Combat is simple, but the bosses are fun and memorable. It's almost like a pixelart Trine, if that makes sense.

However, Alwa's Legacy is not without flaws; the backtracking can seem a tad bit repetitive... and the hidden abilities that require that much backtracking are very mediocre. The incantation of Orbis, for instance, is just the trashiest ability ever and only ever useful against ONE boss (I'll let you figure out which one that is).

I'll rate the game a [b]7/10[/b]. It's very short with really the same basic abilities from Alwa's Awakening. An upgrade of the electricity ability doesn't even work, but for the most part, the bosses are mild, with not very creative patterns. Still, playing as Zoe is always a great addition; the caped mage now seems to have developped a dark sense of humor! Very neat!

alwa's legacy のタイトル通り、かなりレガシーな作りのメトロイドヴァニアだと思います。

常日頃メトロイドヴァニアを漁ってやるような人でなければ、悪いことは言わないので、売れ筋のメトロイドヴァニアをやったほうが良いと思います。

〇お勧めしない理由
1、ジャンプが低い
このゲームは魔法を使って上に登っていくことをメインにデザインされているので、ジャンプ力が低く設定されています。
ギミックを解くときとかは低い前提で謎解きするので気にならないですが、ジャンプが低い弊害として雑魚やボスを飛び越えるのが難しいです。
素のジャンプではかなりの確率で接触ダメージを受けます。

じゃあ魔法で上に登れば？と思われるかもしれませんが、上に登るためにつかうブロック生成の魔法と飛び乗れる泡の生成速度はもったりです。ほかのメトロイドヴァニアで２段ジャンプするようなノリで高いジャンプはできません。（ブロック生成は裏技で２段ジャンプみたいなことができるのかな？攻略動画の方は使っていましたが、自分にはできませんでした）

まぁ多少被弾するくらいはいいんじゃないの？という方もいるかもしれませんが、主人公のデフォルト体力は３、物語終盤でも５くらいです。（ちゃんと探索すれば６まで上がる）
体力３の時にジャンプアクションで雑魚から被ダメ1をもらうのは正直キツイです。

したら雑魚キャラを倒していけばいいじゃん。と思われると思います。
確かにそうなのですが、この作品は雑魚を倒しても何も見返りはありません。
経験値の概念もないし、お金の概念もない、体力が回復できるハート以外はドロップアイテムもありません。

まぁ何もなくても、ただ道を進んでいるときはいいですが、イラっとくるのは、謎解きで詰まっているときです。
このゲームは画面切り替えで雑魚が復活する方式なので、謎が分からずあっちへこっちへ行くとガンガン雑魚が復活し、そのたびに倒さないといけません。しかもご褒美はなし。

主人公の攻撃力は低いし、最後まで上がらないので、いちいちブロックを作って殴って飛ばして攻撃するか、燃費の悪いサンダーを使う必要があります。面倒です。

加えてこのゲームに２段ジャンプはありません。（空中ダッシュはあります）

まず辛いポイント１です。

２．主人公の当たり判定がでかい。
敵の弾とか、足の先っぽに当たったか当たってないかくらいのやつは全部被弾します。
理由１と連動していますが、雑魚との接触判定もキツイです。えぇ飛び越えたやろ…という被弾が多い。

序盤のうちはまだ良いですが、後半になって一撃死の針とか速度の速い弾、誘導弾が出てくるとイライラポイントが加速します。

辛いポイント2です。

自分は上の２ポイントがきつくて、正直途中でやめようかな…と思いました。

〇そのほかに残念だな、と思ったポイント
・スキルポイントを振って新しいスキルを取らないとストーリー上進めない場所があるが、一個手前のスキルを取らないと次のスキルの説明が見られないため、スキルポイント割り振りとかで、割り振らないと、そのスキルにきづかない。
泡スキルの永遠に上に上がれるやつとか、先に教えておいてくれよ…

・え？これどうやって倒すの？という敵がいる。
自分はあーでもないこーでもないとやっていたらダメージが入ったので、そこかよ…と思いましたが、詰まる人は延々と詰まると思います。

・壁抜けワープが使えますが、使えそうで使えない箇所の方が多いので、何か色を付けるとかで区別してほしかった。
最後のダンジョンでワープが使える箇所を一個見逃していたのですが、何時間かかけて探してもわからなかったので、結局攻略動画を見てしまった…

・マップにマーカーが付けられないので、新しいスキルなどが手に入っても再度いろんなステージをあるかなきゃいけない。一応マップの達成率がでるのが救いだが、最後は探索する元気はなかった。

・進行上必須ではないが、爆発で壊せる壁に見づらいものがあった。町の地下みたいに見やすくしてほしかった。

〇好きだったところ
・探索のご褒美としてスキルのレベルアップができるオーブや、セーブポイントをファストトラベル可能にするアイテムがもらえる。二つともあればあるだけうれしいものなので、探索したのにやっすいお金しかもらえないとか使えないアイテムをよこすメトロイドヴァニアより良いと思った。

・賛否がでるとは思いますが、導線に縛りがあまりなく好きなところから攻略できるのは自分は好きです。
メトロイドヴァニアはぐるぐる歩いて、えっなんか良いスキル手に入っちゃったぞ！あそこ行けちゃうんじゃね！？というのにワクワクするので。

全体的にいまいち要素がかみ合わない作品だと思いました。

If you finished Alwa's Awakening and thought, 'if only they had made a sequel in the SNES style', well you are in luck! I got a pretty good nostalgia bump playing through these games and would recommend it for fans of classic platformers. Alwa's Legacy picks up right where Alwa's Awakening left off and presents a familiar play style in a re imagined world. Give it a try - it is worth a play through.

Siento que el juego esta verde y no se siente pulido, no me gusto el combate, no me gusto la magia, no me gusto el plataformeo, no me gusto el backtracking, no me gusto la simpleza de la historia. Recolectar las 45 lagrimas para poder hacer el viajes rápido a donde quieras, me parece un grave error para un Metroidvania. 99 orbes para mejorar al máximo todas las magias, es absurdo, me parece dificultad artificial. El juego no te explica muchas cosas, no te explica como cambiar de color con las burbujas, no te explica para que sirve cambiar el color en si, no te explica que puedes restablecer los orbes usados para escoger otras habilidades, no te explica desde el inicio para que sirven las lagrimas, no te explica el porqué de la historia solo empiezas a jugar sin mas, en fin, muchas cosas quedan sin buenas explicaciones.

No diría que es un mal juego, pero no lo puedo recomendar. Muchos videojuegos se inspiran en el estilo gráfico de la era de los 8 bits, (Como Shovel Knight, The Messenger, etc) pero este lo ejecuta de forma torpe y poco lograda, no solo se ve como un juego de 8 bits, también se siente como uno de 8 bits, en lo tosco y anticuado de sus mecánicas. Si no tienes absolutamente nada más que jugar, y si encuentras el juego con una buena oferta, en ese caso podría decirte que lo compres, pero sino es ese el caso, mejor pasa de largo.

Alwa's Awakening walked so this game could run. It's an improvement in all aspects, all the design gripes were worked on. The tear mechanic is quite smart and fun, the exploration abilities are also creative and fun to figure out new interactions with. Most of the instant death hazards are secluded to specific places, so it's a lot more acceptable.

It feels a lot smoother to play, after a mixed experience on the first game I had a load of fun on this one. And seeing how all the facets were polished, it shows the dev team truly wanted to make it great as a labor of love.

Pues es una especie de Castlevania, pero más simple. Como defectos tiene que en mitad del juego me volví loco un par de veces buscando por donde continuar, porque al desbloquear cosas tienes que volver atrás para acceder a nuevos sitios, pero el juego en sí está bastante chulo, a bajo precio si quieres pasar un rato ameno desconectando de otras cosas está muy bien. Tienes para unas 10-15h.
Aunque sea tipo Castlevania es también muy de plataformas/saltos, y en cada pantalla tienes que usar ciertos poderes y combinarlos amenudo para poder llegar más alto, matar ciertos enemigos y resolver puzzles. Tanto el apartado puzzles, las habilidades , plataforma y demás está muy bello, supone un desafío que te hará morir unas cuantas veces sin llegar a sentirse imposible o cansino de consegui.
En resumen si quieres algo que te recuerdo un poco juegos de la Master System, Nintendo, Megadrive tipo Sonic, Donal Duck, Mickey Mouse, etc de ir dando saltos, pegando enemigos tipo Mario así en dibujos mezclado con un Castlevania no muy largo pero divertido y algo así no muy para adultos lo recomiendo, tiene su mimo el juego sin ser un clásico para siempre.

Well, it's a kind of Castlevania, but simpler. The only drawback is that halfway through the game, I went crazy a couple of times trying to find a way to continue, because when you unlock things, you have to go back to access new places. But the game itself is pretty cool, and at a low price, if you want to spend some time unwinding from other things, it's great. It lasts about 10-15 hours.
Although it's Castlevania-like, it's also very platforming/jumping, and on each level, you have to use certain powers and combine them frequently to reach higher, kill certain enemies, and solve puzzles. The puzzles, abilities, platforming, and more are all very beautiful. It offers a challenge that will have you dying a few times without feeling impossible or tiresome.
In short, if you want something that reminds you a bit of Master System, Nintendo, Megadrive games like Sonic, Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, etc., jumping around, hitting Mario-type enemies like in drawings mixed with a Castlevania that's not very long but fun and something like that not very adult-oriented, I recommend it. The game has its charm without being a classic forever.

【通关和平模式】官方给了三个存档位置，其中第二个和第三个反复备份，完成这个成就不是问题。你不能打死任何敌人，否则缠绕血条的玫瑰枝会消失。你可以找到所有boss和精英怪的墓碑，从而避战，但是两个人类没有墓碑，需要注意。另外这是个速通成就，意味着你无需探索全图

A perfect sequel? This improves on the first game in [b]every[/b] possible way. Movement is faster, combat feels better, NPCs are more interesting, rooms have fewer one-hit spike traps, and then there's the graphics... I'm constantly surprised how refined and charming the pixel art is in this game.

Compared to the first, there's a reduced focus on isolated puzzle rooms in favor of interesting dungeon gimmicks and much more action platforming. The bosses (though way more impressive visually) were easier than those in the prequel. It's not a problem, just different.

Playing this immediately after the prequel gave me that [i]generational leap[/i] feeling I haven't had since the actual 16-bit generation. I didn't even know it was possible to feel that again!

Here is my review for Alwa's Legacy:

This is a direct sequel to Alwa's Awakening. This plays in the exact same platformer manner, except... it's now in a 16-bit art style! You run and jump and find about a dozen upgrades throughout the map. These grant the same three main abilities (block, bubble, lightning) from the first game. Each upgrade grants you additional access to previously locked areas. The art direction is rather enjoyable as it does emulate the 16-bit era nicely, even if it is more detailed than back then. I also appreciate the level design giving you better indications of the proper route (even if it still can be confusing at times). Additionally, the game is so much easier than Awakening, especially the bosses.

The story is fine. You play as Alwa who wakes up in the same spot as the first game with no recollection of why she is there. You venture forth to get more upgrades and kill all sorts of monsters. You find the same Vicar wizard who is hellbent on stealing the magic book just like the first time around. Eventually, you kill him and reclaim the book. The townsfolk all celebrate your victory and you presumably return to your 8-bit world.

Overall, it's a complete upgrade from Alwa's Awakening. The gameplay feel more balanced, the controls are more responsive, and the map layout flows better to help guide the player. It's still not the best Metroidvania, so feel free to just skip this one too.

Much better than Alwa's Awakening. The control scheme while similar is better since it maps the magic to another button. Platforming is fun and only a little frustrating in spots. The ability to change out the various magic ability traits at any time makes it interesting and is needed to progress. I did grab an online map of the dungeon which helped a lot. My main gripe is that they still kept the rather stupid (and pointless) up+X to also summon magic. Why? You already have the B button for it? Several times I wanted to attack while moving up but no, one cannot as it will just summon magic. Narf. They should make a toggle for this in case some one was used to this from Awakening.

Graphics are good but Pixel Art is Pixel Art which I guess is a throwback to old style gaming. I'm not sure why it is so popular. I'm a bit tired of it. I finished in about 16 hours. A bit of that was backtracking to get more orbs to have the magic abilities that I wanted to fight the final boss. Get this and skip Awakening if you only get one.

So far it has been boring and slow with too much tedious backtracking (and the very limited number of warp points that you can drop barely help.) It hasn't feel very inspired.

I got stuck after I unlocked the three spells from the first dungeon, and collected enough orbs to make my blocks float on the water. I explored the Catacombs a bit after I got a key, but I couldn't find the lamp. The game won't let me enter any other dungeons yet even though I have found the entrances to most of them, and I don't enjoy the game enough to look up where to go next. The NPCs are all boring, and the story is so light that I don't even know why she is collecting anything and that isn't the kind of mystery that hooks me.

Alwa's Legacy is more enjoyable than it's predecessor. The game in general but especially the characters look charming. The gameplay feels a little more fluent and backtracking has definitely been reduced or made somewhat less tedious. Also more general options to make the game less punishing but there still persist some weird game design choices. I guess the gameplay is a little more fun but still just ain't very exciting.

Unfortunately I've also managed to somehow break the game and softlock myself in "Monk's Mire" without even fighting one boss. Now I am stuck with no possibility to teleport back or reload, since you can only teleport from certain waypoints. So knowing how to continue still seems unintuitive, otherwise I wouldn't have gotten myself stuck I guess. Not properly polished but I still managed to enjoy this more than it's predecessor.

There is definitely an audience for games like this but I guess it just ain't for me. Mixed review.

A major improvement compared to the first one. Now the gameplay is more dynamic, the enemies are stronger, there are more power-ups and you get them faster. By the first dungeon, you'll have the first two spells and one new skill. A must-play if you like the metroidvania genre.

The dungeon design is where this game shines! Every dungeon is unique with cool puzzles and challenges. My favorite is the one where you can rise and lower the water level. Only the boss fights feel underpowered. The real challenge is reaching the boss room, the fight itself is trivial.

Classic Metroidvania fun with an excellent soundtrack and lovely visuals. Pretty easy/forgiving overall, but creative enough to keep things interesting. For puzzle solving, maybe a tad bit too much Where tf Do I Go? But upon reflection, nothing was overly cryptic, and this kept it from being too linear/boring. I finished it in about a week. Will probably come back to it from time to time for the music and gameplay.

Broken for me. When I tried to change controls, it would freeze and when I tried to continue in the file that I tried to change controls it would freeze on loading. So I started a new file, played a bit and was having fun, but now that file won't load and will always freeze when I try. Extremely disappointing, because I was really loving what I played.

This game is a classic throwback to the old days of lighthearted exploration and tight but simple battle system. A Metroid-vania style game that lets you explore the land without requiring a 10 hour tutorial level. If you like games you can just pick up and play for a bit at a time this is a good option.

Banger pixel art and music. Gameplay is great too with some nice puzzles and very little backtracking, which is my least favorite part of metroidvanias.

Thanks game for railroading me into a killing an innocent guy and then autosaving over my save file so I have to either play the rest of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game and maybe realize six hours later that I missed out on something, or instead replay the first three hours. Really cool, much appreciated.

I think I'll just not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ play at all.

So, after talking to a friend of mine that had played the game. It came across to them that you couldn't even save the NPC in the first place. After taking a step back, I decided in my stubbornness to start a new save file and see. If it it's a forced thing where you can't save the dude? Maybe then it's less bad and I had an overreaction.

But no, after running around and doing everything else I could possibly to do in the game first-- and then taking a meticulous trip around the dungeon to map it out --I tried to see if you could save him.

The answer is yes, there's even an achivement. As such I stand by my initial reasoning that I think this entire segment sucks ass.

Anyway, I beat the rest of the game. It has some improvements over the first game in places, but there's a shocking amount of steps backwards in both game feel and mechanics. As long as you like a more refined version of what could be an NES game, then the first Alwa game is vastly better, even if shorter.

The story in this one was wholey unsatisfying too, despite seemingly doing a lot more setup in an attempt to do something interesting. Furthermore I ran into several bugs and oversights; enemy attack animations and when they can start them being one of the biggest sources.

和前作基础能力一模一样，砖块气泡加闪电，不过新加了一些新能力还是挺有意思的，美术对比前作的复古风大大提升像个现在的游戏了，推图探索很顺畅，搜集蓝球把水上砖块和无限气泡点出来就随便探索了，几个boss还是很简单，找对套路无伤就能过，打第一个boss我就跳了无伤成就

6/10, overall cautiously positive, but it's not without issues.
I enjoyed the graphics and music. The story is okay but not really the focus of a game like this.
Platforming is solid though it can be a bit unforgiving, but respawning is fast especially if you enable instant respawn in the settings and you can just try again without lingering negative effects.
The powers you get are interesting and offer some creative ways to solve problems.
What I dislike is that at a certain point I found it very unclear where to go to make progress. There is a waypoint on the map, but i can't find any way to get there. The map shows what rooms have exits and if you've been to the adjoining room yet or not so I use that to see where I might continue, but often it is not clear if you simply need to wait until later when you get more powers. You also can't make your own notes on the map which might help to keep track of where all you've checked.
Compounding this issue is that you have to find orbs and then spend those at "the wizard" to upgrade your powers after you obtained them. At first it seemed like these were mostly just for convenience or make it a bit easier to defeat enemies, but certain upgrades are needed to beat certain puzzles. But you can't see the skill tree beyond your next upgrade... At first I thought I'd softlocked myself by choosing the wrong upgrades, but it turns out you can respec at the wizard too. However, you always need to travel back to the wizard to change your skills and see if maybe that upgrade will help me progress somewhere... If it didn't, back to the wizard... And still I can't get further.
Maybe I'm just not hardcore enough of a metroidvania player, but to me this became very wearisome.
Still, I got my fun out of it for what I paid (only 3,33 at fanatical). But one reason I've kept at it is I'm away from home and this game is very easy on my steam deck's battery (8+ hours on oled model, 45 fps). But I'm going home soon and I don't think I'll come back to this game. If you're more into metroidvanias though, definitely give this a try.

This game is fun but extremely difficult! Most people would say just "git gud" but I play games to enjoy them, not to torture myself. I've put about 2 hours and 30 deaths into this game and love it but hate it at the same time. I love platforming games and I've played games like Celeste where I'm no stranger to dying a bunch of times to beat a section of the game, but this game is a bit relentless with the difficulty.

I love the look and feel of the game and the platforming aspects. It controls great and the gameplay itself is a lot of fun with the 4 different magic abilities.

I dislike the difficulty of combat though and only having 3 health bars. I wish there was accessibility options to allow for more health or something to make it a bit easier. Also, the map is a bit difficult to understand with no clear indication of where to go or what to do next.

I still recommend the game to try, but I can't see myself putting in too much more time into this game.

Very polished metroidvania with nice visuals and animation, fantastic dungeon and map design, and interesting and funny characters.

Where it falls short is in the game play progression: the map not tracking blue orbs, the constant need to downgrade and swap abilities to advance in specific areas, blue green switch with character colour mechanics not explained, and needing to traverse every single map room again and again to find specific character for advancement without any hints or indication.

Eventually changes from an enjoyable experience to an absolute slog to play due to above issues.

Es hat etwas gedauert, bis ich mich in das Spiel reingefunden habe. Kurz war ich davor, es doch abzubrechen.
Bei mir lag es allerdings daran, das ich am Anfang oft gehangen habe und nicht wusste, wie und wo es weitergeht. Das lag aber an mir selber. Danach, als der Knoten sich löste, hat es mir Freude bereitet.
Einige Stellen erfordern schon etwas Knobelei und auch ein paar "Try and Error" Versuche bis man auf die Lösung kommt.
Zumindest für mich. Ich empfand es jetzt nicht als verdammt hartes Metroidvania, aber auch nichts wo man jetzt von Anfang an einfach durchspazieren kann.
Am besten hat mir gefallen, das man seine freigeschalteten Fähigkeiten je nach belieben und "kostenlos" ändern konnte.
Es hat eine leichte Steuerung, nicht zu viele Fähigkeiten das man den Überblick verliert und ein überschauliches Menü.
Das Spiel hab ich mir im Sale gekauft, obwohl es soweit ein schönes Spiel war, wäre mir der Vollpreis zuviel gewesen.

Alwa's Legacy — крутой платформер в стиле ретро с отличной пиксельной графикой и увлекательными головоломками. Игра затягивает с самого начала: здесь есть магия, бои с врагами и много загадок, которые нужно решить, чтобы пройти дальше.

Геймплей супер: ты не просто прыгаешь по платформам, а используешь магию, чтобы открывать новые пути и побеждать врагов. Каждый босс — это новое испытание, а локации просто классные. В общем, Alwa's Legacy точно понравится любителям приключений и платформеров!

Classic metroidvania platformer. Doesn't really stand out, but everything it does, it does well. If I have any complaints, I'd probably take issue with how the gem upgrades didn't get great explanations on how they should be used.
For those interested:
- Flying block sticks to walls and can be used as a foothold.
- Color changing robe lets the character hit colored switches instead of using wand abilities to hit switches
- Cracked walls can be bombed, so take note of cracks instead of looking for hidden passages
- Blocks placed on "death spikes" can exist for a short moment that can be used to quickly jump again.
- Infinite bubble breaks a lot of puzzles and can save so much time - pair it with a jump cast to shift your position mid-air.

These explanations seem obvious when I say them, but these are optional abilities. The rest of the game can be solved without them, and there's only a small handful of puzzles where they are required. I think I went 3/4 of the game before I realized the blocks stick to walls.

Apart from that, its a good platformer game, but you'll need to figure out most of the tricks yourself.

Alwa's Legacy (SNES style) is an adorable sequel to the pretty good Alwa's Awakening (NES style). It's a 2D metroidvania that uses three weapons in simple and ingenious ways.

Completing the map 100% took about 11 hours.

+ Great pixel graphics and fantastic music, including remixes of the previous game.
+ Lovely enemy design that never feels overwhelming.
+ Fun NPCs with little sub stories.
+ Final level is still hard, but less impossible than the first game.
+ Completionistic behavior is rewarded in fun ways.
+ An item to let you know about hidden walls!

- Some jumps are kind of hard.
- The tracking fireballs feel kind of tacked on.

It's very worth it and the story is simple and sweet. A well made, fun game!

One of the few times when I do not recommend the game. There is the principal reason for that: absolutely idiotic instances when you have no introduction of what to do and how to navigate the map. Usually, there is a character who gives you a hint or who asks to help, rescue him/her, navigate, etc. There could be a sign, bones, monster, or something else. So many options. But Catacombs, Castle (with gravity swap), Flooded Castle, etc. Nothing at all. The design does not imply freedom, how it is done in Environmental Station Alpha, Hollow Knight, Timespinner, etc. The game tries to be more serious than very neat and coherent Alwa's Awakening. But these small hints (that can be less visible btw or as puzzles) are absent. The issue with the drowned guy is even worse. Tbh (maybe I am blind) I didn't pay attention to the guy until I hit the water level raise and SAVE. Why to save? You have an assisting mode.
I finished the game. Yes. But will never play it again.

Great game and a step up from the first Alwa game. It feels more forgiving than the first game, even though precision is still needed sometimes. Optional comfort options give everyone the challenge they desire. The world is all about exploring with a lot of freedom and the metroidvania temporary dead-ends that you need to find the right items to overcome them. Game speed is rather slow but graphics and sound are awesome for Pixel Art and Music which never minded me backtracking. Warps can be activated throughout the world for later shortcuts. I found Pacifist mode an interesting enough challenge for a second playthrough with different gameplay flavor. So I finished the game twice using keyboard only without control issues.

I must say that Alwa's legacy is the game that left the biggest impression on all the games I've played on Steam. When I look back at the games that I have played and I see this game I always think to myself "What a great game" and I remember having the same feeling about the greatest games in my collections when I was a console gamer and didn't had to pay rent or go to work... good times.

Long story short: This game got my seal of approval because it's awesome.

This one just keeps getting worse and worse.

Around every turn is a dead end in this game. It's so bad it feels like you're getting trolled when you play it.

Locked door dead end. Find a key? Open the door to a dead end.

Equip the right skills to make it to a new area? Now you need the other skills equipped to continue.

See a barred off path that you can access if you go back and throw a switch? Go back. Throw switch. Come back and move one map panel ahead. Dead end.

It's not so bad for the first few hours of play....but mid game it just becomes a nightmare. And the worst thing is that you still walk into the room to discover it's just a dead end. So the map is getting completed and it leaves you with no idea where to go. Just backtrack all over the map while returning to the hub to change your equipped skills to have the right skills equipped briefly to discover new dead ends.

I have seen some negative reviews for Castlevania games with complaints about backtracking. If you didn't like a Castlevania because of the backtracking, then playing this will give you a full on nervous breakdown. And at least in other games you can have rewards for exploration like exp, item drops, collectables etc.....In this there is no point to fight an enemy. Everything is just an obstacle while you are trying to figure out where to go.

Long story short - Not for me at all. 2/10

After playing Alwa's awakening on epic I immediately bought Alwa's legacy. I already loved awakening but legacy improved almost everything and made me love the games even more.

It's surprisingly challenging but it never felt unfair. The exploration was rewarding and there are so many things to find.
I liked the story and the unique abilities and how they tied into each other. The artstyle was good and I just had fun playing this.
It had some puzzles that made me scratch my head to figure out what I needed to do, but when I did know it still was challenging enough to actually do it.

There's one thing you can accidentally do but the game doesn't punish you for it, you can undo it and it doesn't affect your achievements. There are people who complain about it but I really liked the way this was implemented and it did made me think about dead in video games.

The movement took me a few minutes to getting used to, just like in awakening. Zoe controls a bit heavy but once I got used to it it was no big deal.
I'm not the biggest fan of the music but it's not bad, just repetitive. And last but not least I really didn't like the map. While I liked that it was big you couldn't zoom in, and just like awakening when you wanted to scroll to an area you needed to pass the other areas in seemingly random order. The same goes for fast travel and since you can fast travel anywhere this felt like a bit of a unnecessary timewaster at times.

Still a great game and I would definitely recommend it, I had a blast with it.

感觉这游戏流程设计的有问题，这么早就给了泡泡，但却处处限制，你可以不给那么早的，你给了却处处限制，给我的感觉就是你不会设计，只能通过限制玩家去增加难度，而且铁鞋CD设计的也不合理，BOSS给点CD可以理解，平时跑图解谜这CD就很不合理了，用一次还得等半天才恢复，想提前用还要蓄力半天

クリアすると、え、これで終わり？って思う方がほとんどだと思います。私もそうでした。
ラスボスが弱くてあっけないと思うからでしょう。まあ途中のボスもたいして苦労はしないと思いますが、ラスボスが中ボスより簡単に倒せるのは何故なんでしょう。確かにこのボスたちの一部はある場所でほとんど動かずに攻撃を続けるだけで倒せるのもいるくらいですからボス戦にはあまり重きを置いてないのかもしれません。戦闘好きの方には物足らないゲームだと思います。探索メインのゲームということなんでしょうね。主要目的はオーブとかティアを探して集めることなんだと思います。私は全部集めることは出来ませんでしたけど。
序盤から中盤はある程度自由に行けるのであちこち探索するのですが、ライフも少なくて下手するとすぐ死にます。それでも苦労して行ったのに結局今は行けないんかい！てことが分かるだけ。そしてどこに行ったら良いのか分からなくなります。そんなんでめんどくさくなって止めちゃう人も多いかもしれません。ただ、いろいろと行けるようになると楽しくなってきます。水の中とか空中とか壁の向こうとか。
私の場合、パズル要素は頭を使ったし、逆さアクションはアクション苦手だから難しかったのですが、達成感があって楽しかったです。セール時ならお買い得です。
