One of the best narrative games in recent memory. Period. After an effective intro, it starts out like a typical/tedious anime highschool drama, but it goes way beyond that and tackles some very real, difficult subjects in a graceful manner. I had some minor gripes about convoluted level design and floaty controls, but those hardly matter in comparison to the excellent writing and visual scene composition of this game.

Работа с движком Unity выполнена на качественном уровне.Цветопередача, тени, объёмный туман и моментальное переключение сцен оставляют приятное впечатление.

[h2] Триллер для девочек в стилистике классического фильма "Tron" [/h2] (не пытаюсь оскорбить :P)

Имеется нейрорусификатор, но он судя по всему офигел от количества женских персонажей, поэтому его качество ниже среднего и немало фраз по смыслу он меняет, на данный момент.

Отличная музыка соответствующая происходящему и достойная отдельного приобретения(для любителей атмосферных мелодий).

Первый час игры вообще ничего не понятно, но как это бывает вам предлагают прикинуться дурачком(дурочкой :D) и переспросить у НПС "а шо а почему".

Половина игры очень понравилась, так как для себя увидел сатиру на религию, что никогда не надоест.

Вторая половина поначалу ощущалась хуже из-за количества постановочных сцен, в которых было видно недостаток бюджета.

Общая сюжетная картина вроде понятна, несмотря на некоторые слишком философские моменты.

More of in interactive story then a game, but that story is one of the best I have experienced. It is eerie, melancholic, and vulnerable. It blends classic sci-fi themes about government control, propaganda, and police states, but does so through a lens of family ties; mother to daughter, sister to sister, and lover to lover.

I didn't know what to expect from this game, but it has been such a remarkable experience.

The story kept me pretty emotional and will be stuck in my brain, along with it's characters, for a very long time.
Whenever I was outside, I kept thinking about wanting to go back and continue through this journey.

It probably isn´t for everyone, since it is essentially a walking simulator with tons of text to read (If you speak with every sister, that is), but for me, it has quickly become one of my favorite games.

Easily one of the best interactive experiences I've ever had. It explores a lot of fascinating themes, and I was especially fond of the ideas introduced around the concept of time and its effects on people and culture.

It's not really fair to call it a game, so far as I'm concerned. There's not much of a gameplay loop, although it's not non-existent or non-interactive, either. Anyway, it's not really an issue for me, but if you go in expecting something more than a narrative art piece, you might be surprised.

Talking about why exactly I love this game is a bit frustrating because it requires spoiling huge chunks of one of the greatest stories ever written. So instead I will talk about the general concept of it. As you may know this game won a Peabody Award, which is the Pulitzer Prize but for radio/video, and it deserves it one thousand percent. The ideas put forth in this game are massive, with labyrinthine concepts like the god spiral and inherited trauma that are navigated with a deftness I have never seen before and probably will never see again. It even uses its medium as a playable videogame to its benefit. But what truly elevates this game from "story" to "legend" is that it constantly finds new ways to stop your heart cold and make you realize you were watching from the wrong angle all along. I was constantly gasping and saying "Oh my GOD" as my mind exploded. It's a master class in misdirection, unreliable narration, and shocking twists that come like machine gun bullets. I know this is an old adage and it usually leads to disappointment, but believe me, you have to experience this game blind to feel the full weight of its punches.

What may turn some people off is the fact that there is no gameplay. I don't mean "a little gameplay," "hardly any gameplay," I mean none whatsoever. This game could probably most accurately be called a "3D Visual Novel". In fact, some of the chapters are little more than movies that you press a button to advance through. But the story is so insanely good, that you will spend hours in front of the screen just like I did. Also, the graphics are pretty bad, with the optimization following close behind. There is a section where you turn on a flashlight and it easily drops the FPS by nearly 20 every time. But in the grand scheme of things, these are tiny nitpicks, and easy to leave behind.

After all, not everything can fit in the backpack.

I did not like it. There's almost no gameplay, but there's a lot of running around in the hub area and it's very convoluted, the map and compas are not helpful. The plot is revealed in a series of flashbacks, but the tone is very artsy and theatrical, I did not vibe with it. Got the game based on a recommendation, even though the game didn't really apeal to me, should've listened to my gut.

I went into this game blind, and I'm so glad I did. If you like narrative-focused games, do not pass this one up.

The story of this game is amazing, one of, if not the best, I've experienced. The world building is top-notch and all of the characters have so much depth and are written so well. All of the dialogue in the game is voice acted, and it complements the writing greatly.

Each chapter kept me wanting more, and had something new to offer. I'm amazed at how much was accomplished by a small team.

This game has lingered with me after finishing it, and I'm so thankful to the team for having made it.

Just one critique, about the mechanic when you talk to the occupant through watcher in the communion with knower, when you have to pass through the days and then select the right order of answer to proceed the dialogue with the occupant. It got a little repetitive and boring.

1000xRESIST is a futuristic dystopian thriller game driven by a non-linear story about betrayal, love, loss, friendship, identity, memory, control, trauma, and many more things. Ultimately, it's the story of a lonely girl who happened upon a role she didn't choose leading to loneliness and isolation who did what she could to cope with her situation. The story is shared through memories, but inconsistencies start piling up and we learn that memory is a construction and does not necessarily reflect the truth.

I really enjoyed this game and I loved the way the devs implemented the ending chapter/epilogues. There are several endings, all of which you can explore. You get to make certain choices about the fates of prominent characters which coalesce into one cohesive finale, and you're not locked out of any of them. The story was interesting and told in a very gripping way, where I was eager to find out more about what was/had happening/happened in the world. The game is arguably more visual novel with some gameplay elements than it is a GAME game, but it was incredible all the same.

I finished the game just shy of 10 hours having thoroughly explored everything, though I suspect the average gameplay would be slightly longer (maybe 11-12 hours?) as I'm a relatively fast reader.

If you've read Never Let Me Go and wanted a video game version of it, this is basically for you.

Finished this game in one sitting a few days ago and it has had such an impact on me that all I've done is think of it even whilst doing my day-to-day tasks. Generational trauma and commentary on authoritative government in a non-linear narrative? Beautiful and stunning. Being able to see myself, my mother and our relationship in this game was heart-wrenching, yet validating. 1000XRESIST has cemented its place as one of the essential pieces of media in my life.

Она очень медленно раскручивается, и слабо цепляет в начале, но в отличие от Forspoken, 1000xRESIST уважает игрока, и позволяет себе полноценную экспозицию, так что ЦА останется до конца.
Если охарактеризовывать игру в двух словах, то это "Нарративное искусство" в чистом виде, тут нет боевки, сильного саундтрека, и концептуально новых механик, однако имеющийся у разработчиков репертуар игровых механик применен очень креативно. Главное достоинство игры это Сюжет, его сложность и нелинейная подача, игра заставит Вас много думать о том что происходит, и многие детали будут ускользать от анализа, это нормально. Очень понравилась система причино-следственных связей между выборами и концовками, и честность игры в отношении того, куда Ваши выборы Вас ведут. Все темы Автором раскрыты на ура, бурного эмоционального отклика во мне этот проект не вызвал, но опыт очень запоминающийся. Очень советую к прохождению любителям нарративных игр, игрокам терпимым к долгим завязкам, и в особенности тем из выше перечисленных, кто страдает игровой импотенцией, лично у меня после игры РЕЗКО прибавилось желания пойти во что более динамичное. Это определенно 10/10

A single hour into your playthrough you'll be handling an unaging woman from a clone society in a post-apocalyptic future as you jump through fragments of somebody else's memories to experience the world before an alien invasion doomed humanity by making them literally cry all water out of their bodies.

So yeah this game can be a lot. [b]It aims for the stars in terms of lore, storytelling, and themes—and the fact that it manages to land [i]most[/i] of its punches is impressive.[/b]

To be clear, this is basically a visual novel with extra steps. [b]There are no decisions or alternative paths to take really[/b], the closest thing to "gampeplay" comes from aiming your camera at some rings, and from watching your character still running in the same direction a good 2 seconds after you tilted the controller stick the opposite way. It's a linear story ("linear" being a very ironic word here) that urges you to get lost in it. And you'll very much be [i]lost[/i] in the beginning, but that is part of the charm. Soon enough you'll start to píece together everything that transpired before the game starts, plus everything that happened during the game but that you were just too overwhelmed to understand; you'll start to remember where everything was in the overly confusing hub; you'll not only figure out the jargon but also find yourself repeating it in your head; and after the credits roll, you'll probably spend the next days processing all the story beats, all the themes explored and all the messages within.

I have a couple of nitpicks here and there but I can look past them. My ONLY big complaint is that I feel the ending lacked some punch. While the pace is slow the whole way through, that was the ONE time it bothered me. The final chapter should've ramped up the speed and tension a good bit.

That being said... assuming you value ambition and you're into great, deep storylines that embrace experimentation, this game is a must-play.

This is one of those rare few games I feel compelled to leave a review on.
To say this game is complex is an understatement. Mechanically, I appreciate its simplicity; much like a novel or film, its narrative is not forgotten in haste or languish, but the arc of the protagonists provide abundant cause to pause and process in its expression.
This game drives me to discuss it with my friends and peers, yet I must hold my tongue for every moment, every component, is opportunity to interpret and internalize. From start to finish, I had no confidence in the destination or moral of its sequences.
Having completed it on my first playthrough, I cannot fathom any conclusion that lacks sourness or bitterness to accompany the sweet. It is strangely satisfying and at the same time unsatisfying, with no obvious regret or wish to change my prior decisions.
For those in the mood to experience this dichotomy, I cannot recommend this game enough. It is clearly well-crafted and filled with love and passion and sentimentality. For those that are not in this mood..... do not leave this art alone forever, one day you too will want to explore this tension of humanity.

This review would have been positive if the game ended at around Chapter 7. Instead, it dragged itself out, and the further it went on, the less substance it had.

The gameplay is clunky and unpolished despite how minimal it is, the plot is completely linear despite trying as hard as it can to present itself non-linearly (sure, sometimes you realize some new things about past events, but they mostly change nothing if you think about them for more then 2 seconds), and the themes the writer tried to say something about are left as open-ended as they were at the beginning of the narrative.

I suspect with the whole state of today's video games industry that the creators were either forced or felt pressure to add unneeded game mechanics, drive up the hours-to-beat, and give the players multiple endings (while literally pushing the player towards one specific choice and even letting them choose a different ending right after watching the "wrong" one, without even asking). But I also see the incredible amount of positive reviews from people who obviously simply want to support indie creators of color (which is NOT a bad thing) so much that they are able to really like a haphazardly made piece of art. Well, sorry, not me.

While I'm disappointed, I do hope Sunset Visitor use this success to make better games. I would consider giving them another chance. 4/10

This game genuinely changed me. I don't know how to recommend this game without spoiling it but it's really good. After I finished it I couldn't stop thinking about it. The topic of generational trauma is handled really well in a way that I've never seen before, making all the sci-fi elements feel more real and grounded. I think that my favorite part about the game is that while it's not subtle about the topics it handles, it really forces you to think and underestand what you are seeing, there are many paralelisms in narrative and visuals through the whole game and the more you think about it the more you notice.

For months, I’ve been mulling how to encapsulate the rapture of playing [i]1000xRESIST[/i], and I decided the best and only pitch comes from the author Anthony Doerr. In his [i]Cloud Cuckoo Land[/i], the first chapter is prefaced:

"Stranger, whoever you are, open this to learn what will amaze you."

Less a walking sim than a participatory stage play, [i]1000xRESIST[/i] is a spectacle of story, deeply personal and shockingly, earnestly surreal. It’s not Lynchian, but certainly a close, poetic cousin. Red to blue, hair to hair, six to one; it starts in code and layers on nursery rhyme and verse in cryptic fashion until it all coheres into something emotionally legible: you may not know what’s being said, but you will feel what’s being shown, a transmission of truth and beauty that can’t be articulated but still recognized. It’s a theatrical, experimental treat that never ceases to amaze.

It’s for these reasons and countless more that its devotees wish nothing more than for you to have the unsullied experience. And so we beg and plead: stop reading, take a leap of faith, and join the cult.

Sorry, I know I’ve only played a short time, but I genuinely don’t understand how this game has such overwhelmingly positive reviews. It feels like critics are rewarding ambition rather than the actual results.

Think of Neon Genesis Evangelion. The premise is clear and grounded at first: alien beings called Angels are attacking Earth, humanity builds giant robots to fight them, and traumatized teenagers are the only ones who can pilot them. The series spends a good chunk of time establishing the world and the characters before gradually layering in heavier metaphor and psychological themes. By the end it becomes abstract, but you had something concrete to hold onto first.

This game also revolves around an alien threat (the Occupants) and a traumatized teenager. The difference is that it skips the grounding entirely. There’s no normal world, no real sense of action or stakes, and no ordinary characters to act as a point of reference. Instead, you’re dropped straight into a strange setting where everyone speaks in ritualistic, cryptic language.

Based on the short time I played, and after reading other reviews, it seems clear that the game continues in this style. It may work for players who enjoy very abstract, metaphor-heavy storytelling, but it didn’t feel like a good use of my time. I ended up refunding it.

J'ai acheté ce jeu suite à un test hyper positif sur... Radio France....

Mais à sa sortie, le jeu était uniquement en japonais et anglais, donc, grosse douche froide pour moi avec un niveau lycée faible (et oui j'ai pris Allemand!!) et la tonne de dialogues.

J'ai laissé tombé. Mais beaucoup de voix ont demandé des traductions en divers langues et jackpot, +1 an après, enfin en français, ouf.

Après 16H de jeu, je peu dire que cela valait le coups.

One of the best stories I've ever seen in a video game. It's difficult to really do it justice without getting in to spoilers. If you enjoy stories like Nier and Evangelion, this is an easy recommendation.

Keep in mind that this game is basically just a visual novel with some walking. No gameplay at all. Absolutely worth it for the story, however.

Хороший ли тут сюжет? Да, хороший. Но ничего экстраординарного. Это сборная солянка из множества сф-идей, замешанных в один микс.
"Окей, так почему у этой игры такие восторженные отзывы? Откуда столько охов и ахов?" - думал я, запуская игру.

Иии вот я ее прошел и мне всё стало понятно.
Итак, данная игра кладёт на лопатки 99% всех остальных нарративных игр по одной просто причине - здесь ВОСХИТИТЕЛЬНАЯ подача сюжета. Каждый чаптер это своя отдельная часть пазла. Вплоть до самого финала вам не выложат все детали, вас постоянно будут держать в неведении, из-за чего тут создается дикий эффект вовлечения. Закрывая игру вам будет хотеться сразу запустить ее снова и узнать а что же там дальше?? Тут есть много всякого доп. контента и он тоже работает на целое - вы прослушали какой-то левый диалог в чаптере 2 и спустя 5 часов он всплыл в чаптере 7 и заиграл новыми красками. И такая вся игра - тут всё взаимосвязано и переплетено. Здесь проделана просто монструозная сценарная работа, это просто глыба неземных масштабов. А еще тут есть свой новояз и понятийный аппарат. Он веселый и запоминающийся. Сначала вы будете смеяться со всех этих ХЕККИ ГРЕЙС 6ту1, а потом в 6 главе уже почти не будет ХЕККИ и вы будете по ним скучать, а ближе к финалу и вовсе будете требовать ВЕРНИТЕ МНЕ МОИ ХЕККИ ААААААА Я ХОЧУ ВЕРНУТЬСЯ НАЗАД.
И всё это дополняет шикарный меланхоличный саундтрек, который задает тон всей игре.

Является ли данная игра шедевром? Да, является. Можно ли сказать, что сценарно это отвал пизды? Да, это отвал пизды.
Если любите сюжетные игры и визуальные новеллы, то это мастхэв. Это мастодонт уровня пленскейп тормент и мор.утопии.
Я не знаю кто эти нонейм китайцы из Канады и откуда они взялись, но они за 2 копейки породили гигантское аудио-визуальное чудовище, которое еще не скоро вас отпустит после прохождения.

This game is an interactive story primarily, so if you're in it for gameplay you might be disappointed, however the story is good and interestingly told.

This game is literature. It's not always easy to interpret. There's a lot of layers, a lot of meanings. The world is very well thought out, the ambiguity forces you to think deeply about it and engage with it.

I do think some of the voice acting is a little rough (not immersion-breaking, but pretty clearly not professional), and there are times where the "gameplay" drags a bit. Still, I would absolutely recommend it, neither of those minor issues were enough to make me any less hooked on the story.

Some other things you might like if you like this (and vice versa):
1. The book "Severance" by Ling Ma (no relation to the TV show). It's also told nonlinearly and deals with overlapping themes to convey complex abstract messages. It also shares a lot of themes with this game.
2. Signalis, a bit more horror focused, but similarly nonlinear and has a similar vibe.
3. Until Then, a visual novel/game with some similarities to this that are hard to get into without spoilers.

In my opinion it's an incredible narrative masterpiece, I had heard great things about the game before playing but when I actually got around to it I was blown away. The story was very relatable for me and writing this after finishing the game I already wish I could experience it all over again.

I imagine that anyone who loves narrative games or games as art would love this, it's truly incredible.

This game is amazing... with one MASSIVE flaw. I cannot do too much about the massive flaw because a lot of games suffer from it.

I am very big on story and this is one of the most intricate weaves of a story I have encountered in a long time. It twists but in ways that make you want to follow it in the direction it goes. The characters are well written and their interactions are heartfelt. I cannot say much more without spoiling said story but it definitely amazing.

The art style may not be for everyone but I think it really fits the story that is being told. Though the two times I had to do top down perspective was a bit... odd.

The main setting of the game is... confusing to navigate around. It does not take away from how good the game is but definitely makes it a bit more challenging to deal with.

The story is linear... this is a minus for most people, for me... I think it worked perfectly... but I am also someone who loves LIS True Colors and Double Exposure... so take that for what you will.

The major gripe I have with the game is the ending... or lack thereof. As I said, a lot of games... and in fact a lot of media period does this. You have this amazing story, characters you fall in love with and then it just goes... whelp... you solved the conflict... bye! There IS an ending... sort of... but it is feels tacked on... We told this incredible story and then... just ran out of gas so... here you go. Your game is fifteen to twenty hours long... take another two or three hours and give me a proper ending dang it.

That of course is not enough for me to not recommend it, just a person gripe. I loved the game otherwise and I think you will as well... if story driven games are your cup of tea.

This is easily one of the best sci fi stories I've ever experienced in a video game. It's probably one of the best I've experienced across any medium. And the science fiction of it all really just serves as a vehicle for delivering a very personal story about a young girl dealing with family and identity.
It's hard to put a label on what genre of game this is. Visually it looks like an anime style JRPG from the PS2 generation but it's much more narrative focused like a visual novel. There are some minor interactive gameplay elements but they mostly serve to place you in the mind of the main character and gain perspective. It's a great use of the medium and the narrative compelled me so much to keep going that I ended up starting a second playthrough shortly after finishing. I would say this is required playing for anyone who loves great sci fi or just great storytelling in general. Hekki Grace.

能看到更多的独立游戏和更多作者的表达当然是好的，也在 2019 年的时候一直关注事态的发展，也能共鸣为什么他们要选择离开。

但是在 7 个小时打出了第一个结局之后，我感受到的居然是解脱。

这个游戏像是谜语一样的剧本，巨大而又难以找到方向的地图，神秘的审美和美术，还有从始至终的怪异手感，随着游戏时间的堆砌让我感到烦躁而难以忍受。

this is torture in the best way possible. so raw it's painful to that asian american experience. i felt like i was being wrung through and despite it being painful theres this bubbling comfort, i feel seen and empathized with. i also see the want to make a change to escape from within yourself. big covid and stop asian hate vibes for sure, turbulent period of my life. big plus, doesn't give me that crazy of motion sickness but it does make me feel a little sick. piece of art 10/10 lol

Antes de mais nada, confie em mim e evite spoilers, simplesmente jogue e preste atenção nos detalhes, pois até mesmo o nome 1000xRESIST carrega um peso narrativo. Mas, caso você seja uma pessoa um tanto cética, acredito que existam diversas sinopses do jogo por esta página e por outras; fique mais um cadinho e talvez você encontre a minha também.

É justamente nessa atenção aos detalhes que o jogo começa a revelar a força da sua história. 1000xRESIST me apresentou uma narrativa tão incrível quanto tocante, uma história que critica a fé cega, aquela fé que torna pessoas manipuláveis como marionetes, e nos mostra o que acontece quando essa fé é quebrada.

Aqui, a sociedade colapsou por causa de uma doença. As pessoas que ainda restam vivem no subsolo, fiéis àquela que é a sua própria imagem: a GRANDE MÃE. Você assume o papel de uma observadora (literalmente), que à primeira vista parece ter uma função inútil, mas que se mostra mais do que suficiente para desmascarar as mentiras dessa sociedade [spoiler]e resistir a elas[/spoiler].

E é justamente por colocar tanto peso em sua narrativa que o jogo opta por uma abordagem mais simples na jogabilidade. Por focar na narrativa, 1000xRESIST não traz mecânicas complexas. A gameplay segue a linha de um walking simulator, variando às vezes os ângulos da câmera para guiar a narrativa e enfatizar momentos específicos. Em certos trechos, por exemplo, a câmera pode transitar da terceira pessoa para a primeira pessoa, ou até assumir uma perspectiva lateral, tudo para reforçar o impacto das cenas.

Essa preocupação em reforçar cada momento da história também aparece em outro elemento essencial do jogo: a trilha sonora. E, como todo bom jogo narrativo, ela é de tirar o fôlego, trazendo à tona os sentimentos de cada cena ao máximo. Tensão, tristeza e tranquilidade transitam com maestria por meio da música.

A platina dá um pequeno trabalhinho por causa das conquistas de falar com todos os personagens em cada capítulo, mas acaba sendo interessante, é ali que você descobre várias das “fofocas” desse mundo. No fim das contas, esses pequenos detalhes ajudam a aprofundar ainda mais o universo do jogo.

I [b]1000x[/b] want to play this game. I can't [b]resist[/b] feeling like I'm about to throw up after about 15 minutes while playing. The color schemes and camera movements in some scenes are so headache-inducing that I'm getting a migraine in mere minutes. The chromatic aberration is killing me. I understand that it's an artistic choice but I'm about to retch into the bin because of that choice. I can't recommend a game I can't play.

It doesn't help that each map is very maze-like, so navigation is far more difficult which requires me to spend more time searching for people and objects rather than just getting to them quickly so I can experience more of the game before having to sign off. As it is, I've played the game for about 2 hours but only can tolerate about 20 minutes at a time. As a result, I'm having a more difficult time keeping up with the story which makes it not really worth trying to get through the game anymore. For a game funded by the Canadian government (sunset visitor 斜陽過客 is based in Vancouver), it surprisingly lacks some accessibility features.

I think this would have been a far better title as a visual novel. As it is, it's really a walking simulator combined with a narrative tale. Except there's too much dead space so the running part is tedious. Or maybe it seems that way because of the headache-inducing graphics. But what little "gameplay" there is in the game isn't really worthwhile. The narrative is the driver here and the walking simulator portion is just getting in the way.

The story seems compelling and I really would like to experience it. The writing is quite good if a bit melancholy and it's a very interesting universe. The voice acting seems to be quite well done. I applaud their attempts at some really creative artistic choices. I just can't physically play the darn game and they don't have the needed accessibility options that might mitigate the very real physical symptoms that prevent me from experiencing it. And I tried hard enough to try to get through it that I'm past the refund window.

So here's the deal - if you're into well-crafted narrative games and don't mind a bit of maze-like environments, give this a whirl. If you start to get a headache, don't put it down and think you'll come back to it later and make progress. Just get a refund like I should have done.

But if you have any kind of chromatic issues causing headaches, or are sensitive to motion sickness or are even somewhat color-blind, just skip this title.

1000xRESIST is one of the most unique games I’ve ever played. I really don’t think there is anything else like it. Some people might find it strange or even too weird, but for me that weirdness is what makes it so compelling. It uses its strangeness to tell a story that sticks with you, one that lingers in your mind long after you’ve put the controller down.

At the same time, this is definitely not a game for everyone. The gameplay is very light. For most of it, you are just walking around, navigating maps, and talking to NPCs. The maps themselves can be confusing, and not in a good way. Sometimes I felt lost, and not because the game was trying to make me feel that way, but because the layout just wasn’t designed as clearly as it could have been. There are some clever mechanics though, especially in the puzzle sections where you can jump through time and memory to open up new paths or piece together information. Those were highlights for me. But overall, this isn’t the kind of game you play for gameplay. It doesn’t have big cinematic moments or the kind of polish a bigger studio might bring. You play 1000xRESIST for the story, and if you are the kind of person who enjoys a rich, thought-provoking narrative, then I would call it a must-play.

The biggest strength of the game, at least for me, lies in its themes. It wrestles with questions of free will, the meaning of family, the bonds of friendship, our responsibilities to each other, and the pursuit of freedom against authority. It also dips into heavier philosophical ideas like existentialism, and it does so in ways that feel natural and never heavy-handed. The writing really impressed me in how it managed to handle so many big ideas without losing its emotional center.

Another thing I loved was the world-building. The setting of 1000xRESIST is incredibly unique, but more than that it feels thought out and layered. The history of the world, the story of the Sisters, and the overarching narrative of survival and resistance all pulled me in. It isn’t perfect though. In the later parts of the game, a lot of new factions and groups suddenly get introduced. They never feel as fleshed out or motivated as the core characters, and that left me wishing for a little more depth. Even with that flaw, the lore as a whole was deeply captivating, and it is something I’ve continued to think about even after finishing the game.

The story itself took me a while to fully connect with. At first I was intrigued, but not yet invested. After a few hours, though, something clicked. I started to really care about the protagonist and their journey, especially as they began to confront truths that challenged their beliefs and biases. By the time I reached the ending, I was fully attached. It felt personal, like I was walking alongside them as they questioned everything they thought they knew.

The game does have weaknesses. The most obvious one for me, outside of the confusing maps, is how it handles choice and consequence. Throughout the game you are asked to make some decisions that the story frames as heavy and meaningful. The problem is that most of them don’t really have much impact. The only truly big choice is the one at the very end, which does change how the epilogue plays out, but for a game so focused on story I found myself wishing for more meaningful branching earlier on.

Still, I have to admire what this game accomplishes. In just a relatively short runtime, it manages to juggle all these different themes, characters, and ideas in a way that is not only coherent but also deeply moving. It is not a perfect game, but it is one that has stayed with me. I find myself thinking about its lore, its characters, and the questions it raised long after the credits rolled.

Despite its many glaring weaknesses, the strengths in its worldbuilding, thematic writing, and storytelling really do trump it all. It is, at least in my opinion, one of the best games of its kind. If you like thought-provoking narratives and an incredibly unique and interesting world and lore to explore and learn about, this is a game you have to try.

1000xRESIST grabbed me in the same way that I feel about a really good book: Voraciously reading into the night when you should have gone to bed ages ago.

There were many "Oh, wow!" moments, both narratively and artistically. I'd happily have art of the game on my walls.

Gameplay wise, it's split into three main parts: Walking around and talking to people, sections with zip-to-point style simple "platforming", and more visual-novel feeling cutscene style sections. Each of these help to break up the narrative so you never get tired of one particular thing.

One area you visit often, The Orchard, has a somewhat unusual layout which could be tricky to navigate for some. I recommend using the in-game map often for those sections. You'll get used to the landmarks as you play, so don't worry about it.

I consider this one of those "Not really a game" games. It's more like interactive media without being a full blown visual novel.

The story is profound and I'm still thinking about it now. This is another grand example of video games as art.

There is a choice and we will not make it. I find it hard to recommend this game. It's barely a game; most of the gameplay is walking around and occasionally choosing a dialogue option. The main location is a maze and hard to navigate due to a lack of recognizable landmarks. I found its narrative momentum painfully slow at times, making it hard to stay invested in the cryptic and disorienting story. And yet...

The game weaves such a rich tapestry of themes. Its science fiction aspects are familiar and further grounded by their direct connection to real historical events from most players own lifetimes. The story recontextualizes them and then extrapolates their consequences. The result is a strong visceral sensation and imagery that has lingered with. There is the you that remains that remains and remains.

I don't _literally_ understand most of what I played. But I get it. Resonance.

Эту "игру" сложно оценивать в позитивном ключе. "Игра" чем-то похожа геймплейно на Диско Элизиум, ходишь-бродишь и говоришь с персонажами. Однако, в Диско Элизиум были выборы в диалогах, так как она что-то вроде РПГ. Тут же выбора хоть какого-либо нет вплоть до эпилога. Сделали бы визуальную новеллу, так как анимаций в игре толком нет, и было бы просто менее нудно проходить через эту историю, которая сама по себе ничего интересного не представляет. Хоть авторы и пытаются критиковать христианство, коммунизм (авторы из Гонгконга, как я понял), около монархические строи, а также постоянно говорят о разнице поколений, но выходит это как-то скучно и примитивно, что ли. Кажется, что тут об этих темах рассуждали на уровне обывателя, у которого спросишь его мнение про все эти темы, и он выдаёт тебе первое, что приходит ему на ум. Сам же сюжет об огромных женщинах пришельцах (кто-то в обзорах говорил про космический хоррор, господи) и клонах, которые разные по своей сущности (что глупость неимоверная, но ладно), ну как-то не интересует. Даже сложно сказать с чем это связано, может, проблема в том, что в такой короткой игре слишком уж много персонажей из-за чего на все конфликты смотришь просто с каменным лицом. Также, возможно, из-за попытки затронуть кучу тем ни одна из них не получает должного внимания, кроме проблем поколений, наверно. В целом же эта "игра" пустая трата времени и денег.

An art of storytelling as it is. The game's holding player in "barely understandable yet very interesing" condition during several hours. Meditative gameplay may feel a bit long-winded and melancholic, especially in later chapters, but it still keeps you in suspense till the very end. If you want a complex and multi-level story - it remains here for you. And remains and remains.

I rarely play single-player games, especially not narrative-driven ones. Finishing them is rarer still. And I certainly don't get all the achievements. 1000xRESIST is the exception for good reason. Want to know if the game is good? Undoubtedly. Is it worth your money? Your time? Your attention? Yes. If that's all you need to hear then I urge you to play it for yourself and enjoy it, but I have too many thoughts to not spill them here.

This game has a sticky residue that I can't seem to escape from. I began playing one morning, just two days ago, and since then, the majority of my thoughts have been consumed by my own theories and praise for the experience and writing (both story and dialogue). I wake, shower, and go through my work in a dazed state, just thinking about this damn game. I found myself drifting off to sleep just to dream of it. It has a hold on me like nothing else.

1000xRESIST does not offer much in terms of gameplay. A week ago, I would've said that the Metal Gear Solid franchise was a favorite of mine when it comes to single-player story games. I've long held that MGSV: The Phantom Pain was my favorite game of all time for its wild story and incredible stealth sandbox, the combination of the two is what I really value about that game. But that was before 1000xRESIST, where the most intense gameplay is a single timed obstacle course. Yet somehow, it may be my favorite game of all time.

On the surface, I do not relate to the characters of this game. I am not the daughter of immigrants, nor an immigrant myself, nor Chinese, nor Canadian, nor even a daughter at all, nor a clone of such a person, but I was a high school student during the COVID-19 Pandemic, an event that heavily inspired the story of this game. Regardless, the events of this game are difficult not to empathize with and connect with. 1000xRESIST has such an incredible understanding of grief, joy, trauma, love, and so many others that I can't help but feel every emotion.

I don't know what to say or how to cap off this tedious read, but this game will remain, and remain, and remain long after I've stopped playing. Its vocabulary engrained in my throat and messages swirling inside my head, and I am happy to say that. This game grows more relevant by the day as the world changes around us. I don't want to spoil, but it should be fairly obvious if you've played it. I hope I never forget this experience. More so, I hope you can have this experience. 1000xRESIST is truly one like no other. Hekki ALLMO.
