White Haven Mysteries is a hidden-object adventure game developed by Gogii Games and published by Strategy First. The game belongs to the Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure genre, a style of casual game design that combines environmental exploration, puzzle solving, and investigative storytelling. Built around a suspenseful narrative and eerie environments, the game invites players to unravel a disturbing mystery by carefully examining locations, collecting items, and solving a variety of puzzles. While it follows many familiar mechanics typical of hidden-object games, its darker atmosphere and unsettling storyline help it stand apart from more lighthearted titles within the genre.
The story begins with the player awakening in a strange and abandoned building with no memory of how they arrived there. As the protagonist regains consciousness, it quickly becomes clear that something deeply troubling has occurred. The character has been drugged and imprisoned inside a mysterious facility where unknown experiments have taken place. A sinister figure appears to be monitoring the protagonist’s progress, leaving cryptic messages that suggest the player is part of a twisted game. With the effects of the drug gradually worsening, the player must explore the facility in search of answers and find an antidote before it is too late. The narrative unfolds slowly as new areas are discovered, revealing fragments of the truth through notes, recordings, and environmental clues scattered throughout the building.
Gameplay revolves around exploring interconnected rooms and locations while completing hidden-object sequences and solving puzzles. Each environment contains various interactive elements that players must inspect carefully. In hidden-object scenes, players are given a list of items that must be located within cluttered environments filled with everyday objects and mysterious tools. Some items are easy to find, while others are cleverly concealed or blended into the scenery. Successfully locating all of the required objects often rewards players with items needed to unlock doors, repair machinery, or solve puzzles that open access to new areas of the facility.
Beyond hidden-object searches, the game also incorporates a range of puzzle types that break up the investigative flow. These puzzles can include mechanical locks, pattern recognition challenges, or logic-based tasks that require players to manipulate objects in the environment. Some puzzles involve combining items found during exploration, encouraging players to think about how tools might interact with different parts of the surroundings. This mixture of puzzles and object searching creates a steady gameplay rhythm where players alternate between observation and problem-solving.
The environments themselves play an important role in shaping the experience. Much of the game takes place inside the White Haven facility, which is filled with abandoned laboratories, decaying hallways, and eerie medical equipment. The design of these locations reinforces the unsettling nature of the story, hinting at the disturbing experiments that once took place there. Broken machines, scattered documents, and dim lighting contribute to the sense that the building has been left behind after some catastrophic event. Exploring these spaces becomes a key part of the narrative, as each room reveals new pieces of the mystery surrounding the protagonist’s situation.
Visually, the game uses a dark and atmospheric art style that complements the suspenseful storyline. The environments are detailed enough to support hidden-object gameplay while maintaining a consistent tone of tension and unease. Shadows, muted colors, and cluttered scenes help create the feeling that the player is navigating through a place filled with secrets waiting to be uncovered. Although the graphics are not especially advanced by modern standards, the artistic direction succeeds in conveying the unsettling mood that defines the experience.
Sound design further enhances the atmosphere. The game uses subtle background music and ambient sounds to build tension as players move through the facility. Quiet mechanical noises, distant echoes, and soft musical cues create a sense of isolation that makes exploration feel more immersive. Rather than relying on loud or dramatic sound effects, the audio maintains a subdued tone that reinforces the mystery of the environment.
One of the strengths of the game lies in its pacing. The story unfolds gradually as players progress through the facility, encouraging careful exploration and attention to detail. Each solved puzzle and discovered clue brings players closer to understanding what happened within White Haven. This slow reveal keeps players engaged as they attempt to piece together the events that led to their captivity and determine who is responsible for the experiments taking place in the building.
However, the game does share some of the common limitations associated with hidden-object adventures. The core gameplay loop of searching for objects and solving puzzles remains largely consistent throughout the experience, which can lead to repetition over time. Some puzzles rely on trial and error rather than clear logical solutions, which may occasionally interrupt the otherwise smooth investigative flow. Players who are not fans of hidden-object gameplay may also find the repeated search sequences somewhat predictable.
Despite these minor issues, White Haven Mysteries succeeds in delivering an engaging mystery for fans of the genre. Its eerie atmosphere, suspenseful storyline, and steady progression of puzzles create a compelling adventure that encourages players to uncover every clue hidden within the facility. While it does not radically reinvent the hidden-object formula, it offers a well-crafted experience that balances exploration, storytelling, and puzzle solving.
Overall, White Haven Mysteries stands as a solid entry in the hidden-object puzzle adventure genre. Its combination of atmospheric environments, intriguing narrative, and varied puzzles makes it an enjoyable experience for players who appreciate slower-paced investigative games. Although the gameplay mechanics follow familiar patterns, the unsettling story and immersive setting provide enough intrigue to keep players engaged from beginning to end.
Rating: 7/10
Yes.
This is an older HOG and it shows it's age but I kinda liked that about it. This game doesn't have the QoL features a lot of the new games have i.e. fast travel, map, etc but it's designed in a way where you don't find yourself missing it. The back traveling is minimal and there aren't a huge amount of different areas anyways. There aren't that many puzzles and they are pretty simple. The HO scenes are actually pretty well done and there are a lot of them. The story is ok but good enough to keep your attention through the game. If you are experienced with hidden object games you'll be able to finish the game within 1.5-2.5 hrs. Pick this game up if your looking for one more HOG that you haven't played before. I got it for about .50 and it was more than worth it. If you see this game on a very good discount you might want to grab it.
It's almost fine but there are better games. There is almost no story but the twist was fun. Audio is horrible which is sad because I really like the music but the game doesn't use it much. What you can hear the whole time is screeching low bitrate 2 seconds sound loops - my ears are bleeding. I liked the hidden object screens but other jigsaws are almost non-existent. If you're a fan of the genre you can check it out with sound turned off to turn your brain off for 2 hours but in any other case just play True Fear or something.
"Unfortunately, the save file got corrupted. Start over, loser."
...
Nah, I'm good. Would've been a 5/10 anyways.
Yes. It's just like being there.
I can't really recommend this game. It's average as far as puzzles/HOG scenes go and the audio is of terrible quality. In addition, the story is questionable to say the least if you're paying attention. It's decent, but not particularly good.

For the game's age it was surprisingly entertaining.
The biggest issue I had was the graphics, especially the resolution. No matter what changes I made, the game insisted on performing poorly and using a very tiny windowed screen even when the settings were for full screen. This affected some of the game play. For instance, it made the hidden object scenes extremely hard to see,
At a discount, given the age, I would recommend the game. Hopefully they can fix the compatibility issue with the screen resolution at some point.

Not fantastic, but it's different and interesting.
I'd suggest you get it whilst on sale, since there are no achievements or cards.
I usually never bother with games like that, but this game was worth it nontheless, in my opinion.
Yet another poorly written game where a sad, stigmatized, underdeveloped understanding of dissociative identity is the underwhelming plot twist and there is no real ending. Lazy at best. I didn't expect the world from a little hidden object game, but I didn't expect it to be this unfortunate, either. Additionally, the functionality on the reading materials is limited to the point of distraction. The game always forces you back to the start in the journal feature. With very low expectations I was still genuinely let down.
fun little hidden object mystery game
I really liked this one the atmosphere was great and spooky. Lots on HO scenes. And I actually thought the story was cool. The big problem was my save file had corrupted when I was almost done with the game so I had to start all the way over. I suggest just playing it in one sitting its not too long. Definitely get this one on sale though because of that annoying bug.
6/10
Put simply this was frankly one of the lesser Hidden Object games I've played
The atmosphere was decent and interesting setup for a story though generic, gets let down by the short length and unsatisfying ending
Puzzles can be quite simplistic at times though a few were kinda obtuse and the last stretch was clearly rushed and had nothing of interest
I cannot really recommend unless you're bored and just wanna check it out out of curiosity but then again it would probably be better saving that money and watching a playthrough on Youtube
Similar games I'd recommend over this are True Fear: Forsaken Souls part 1&2, 9 Clues 2: The Ward and the New York Mysteries franchise
Standard HOG. If you play with a HOG Bingo board, you'll definitely get a bingo playing this one. My only complaint is that, even for a slapped together story plot, the ending was very lackluster.
You may have to start over after saving due to corrupted save file?
very good game
Do not purchase. Unless you play this game in one sitting (and it's one of the longer HO games), you will not be able to finish. At some point in the playthrough, the save file gets corrupted, and you cannot finish. What a waste, because this game had great potential.
Pros
+Nicely created environments.
+HO scenes are decent (although repeated)
+The 2 HO scenes in shapes are great
Cons
+Bad story with no ending
+Unskippable “loading” screen
+No achievements
+No mis-click penalty
+Repeated items being collected in HO scenes
+Repeated HO scenes
+Puzzles too easy
+Short (less than 2 hours)
+Repeated / annoying music (ring around the rosie)
A standard hidden object game, but really needs some polish.
White Haven Mysteries has some of what you expect from a HOG. The story is basic, you’re in an abandoned research facility where they were testing drugs on patients. Apparently, you were one of them and you need to find an antidote to cure you. There’s not much to go by and therefore I had little interest in the plot.
The actual hidden object scenes, while repeated, are drawn nicely and some items were a struggle to find. There is no mis-click penalty, so you can click all over the objects and collect most of them before even looking at the list. Strange the devs didn’t include a penalty like almost every other HOG does. I really enjoyed the HO scenes where the items were arranged into a shape. Unique and pretty difficult. I would have like to see more of those, however there are only 2 I remembered like this.
There are only a handful of puzzles in White Haven and they are all very easy. While being easy, there were no instructions to follow for them.
The overall environment is mildly creepy. The game goes through an unskippable “loading” screen every time you start it up where it warns about disturbing scenes. This is way too dramatic and I only caught 1 time you may get startled.
Some other random things I noted:
-After collecting a journal entry, viewing them doesn’t always show you the one you just collected
-Back arrow is near the inventory area, causing you to wait for it to disappear to go back a screen
-One HO scene has you listening to the annoying sound of a pump the whole time
Conclusion
White Haven lacks a lot of things for me to recommend this. There’s no bonuses or extra chapters, so it’s just the main game. If you’re into the genre, grab it on a heavy sale.
4/10 Below Average

Excellent storyline and very fun to play!
Spent an ungodly amount of time playing only to have the save corrupted. 0/10 do not recommend wasting time.
a very nice short HOG with a decent story.
pros.
pretty nice story
kinda creepy
great voice acting
decent fitting creepy music
cons.
very short a bit less than 1 hour 20 minutes. for the main story
no bonus story
i have found a spot where i could collect an item over and over without it being in my inventory
overall despite being mega short and i'm actually shocked to have to recommend it. it was very fun playing it.
only get it under a heavy discount tho as paying full price for a bit more than 1 hour of gameplay is not worth it.
i give it 6/10
Meh. Game play was average. Ending was a big let down. :(
game work fine on Win 10, 64 bit, 1920x1080 screen
My name is odinN, and I recommend this game that must play everyone!
Decepcionada!
White Haven Mysteries has been sitting on my Steam account since 2013, and I have to wonder why I waited so long to play it. It’s a pretty good game with an interesting story. The game is from 2012, but don’t let its age fool you: everything looks fairly modern. And if you want to get creeped out, you’ll find it in the unsettling imagery, as well as music that reminded me a lot of Alan Wake (one piano note playing on a loop, and the sound of a gust of wind deafening you).
I really enjoyed the hidden object scenes in this one. The game does have typical scenes, but also did something a little different to make the game even more challenging.
Canadian game developer Gogii also gave some nudge-winks at their Canadian roots, infusing some “very Canadian” items in their scenes, including having to locate Canadian old-school $1 bills (not in use in Canada since 1987…) and an airline ticket that looks destined for Europe, but the YYC destination would send you to Calgary, Alberta.
Overall, I’d recommend White Haven Mysteries. I see it go on sale on Steam frequently: pick it up on sale for cheap!
It is a game which doesn't support Windows 10. I bought it and I was able to play it in a windowed mode but not able to see much.

TLDR: Run of the mill, uninspired casualized spooky manor exploration walk clicker with minigames. Resolution feels uncomfortable. Interactivity feels distant.
My hope when I bought a bunch of hidden object games, would be that it would skip the moon logic and tediousness of traditional point&click while focusing on higher paced gameplay and story exposition.
Lets just say White Haven Mysteries and other such games have made me reconsider my interest in the genre as a whole. The games I describe still exist but they are an exception.
The game opens up with a rather unattractive initial hook. Where you chase a strange girl into a manor for undisclosed reasons. You pick up axes and rope along the way. There is a poster about a mystery happening at the town. There might be a twist somewhere along the way but I am not on board to find out what that is, and I doubt the literary quality on display here would really warrant the effort of focing myself through.
I was enjoying the game and was reaching the end until I got a message saying my savegame was corrupted and I had to start over. No, thank you.
When you look at the other reviews, you will see that a lot more people ran into the same problem.
This is yet another case where a neutral or "meh" option would be ideal. It wasn't, well, good... but it also was far from the worst game I've played. The storyline was boring, tons of clues leading to a rather obvious, and unfulfilling, ending. It really didn't have much of an resolution. The HO scenes were ok. Most were not particularly challenging, but some items were almost invisible or hidden. There was far too much running back and forth getting random things that made NO sense, and a general lack of those amazing things called science and logic. All in all, I definitely have to say you should give this one a miss. Unless it's super cheap, as it was when I bought it, you shouldn't waste your money on it.
Genre
Sehr kurzes Hidden Object Adventure
Story

+ good voice acting
+ hidden object elements are fun.
+ hint system very helpful
+ there is auto save
+ i didn't encounter any crushing and bug. game is run well for me.
cons
- game is too short
- there are no steam achievements
- game doesn't drop cards.
White Haven Mysteries is a straight forward HOG (Hidden Object Game) that adds little new to the genre. There are a lot of HO scenes and very few puzzles. While there is no fast travel or map, each scene lets you know when you have completed all the tasks on it. While there is a fair amount of backtracking, it's not tiresome as the game is very short, taking just 90 minutes for me to beat.
The game sets itself up as a horror adventure and asks you to play with the sound turned up and the lights off, but there's very little horror and almost no jump scares. So a little disappointing.
The story deals with the subject matter of mental health but the conclusion is sudden and not very satisfying.
The graphics, voice acting, and sound are all average at best, but if you are into HO games, there are enough scenes to keep you busy for an hour or two.
Overall, it wasn't terrible and the biggest problem is that it is too short. I played through in one session and didn't have to save the game, so didn't run into the save game problems others are reporting. It's probably a game you should avoid unless you are a fan of the genre, and then plan to complete it in one sitting. I'm going to give it a positive review, for no reason other than it's not bad enough to give a thumbs down.
Really, I quite liked the Game till it crashed and gave me a message about corruputed files and I had to began anew. I mean, thank you no. I wished I never bought that game even if I got a discount on it.
The game itself is pretty good...but not playable. Fix it.
If you are a fan of Mystery Case Files, this is right up your alley.
I've played a few finding games and this is the closest a game has been to the likeness of MCF. Although not as difficult (which sometimes can be a relief!), White Haven Mysteries offers more finding games and the atmosphere is just as creepy.
The only downside is it is really short, completed in a couple of hours.
There are very few nice "find the hidden object" games ... this is definitely one of them.
I LOVED the story line. Loved the graphics and the puzzles are rather ... interesting.
Definitely worth paying for. Definitely worth playing!!!
O jogo é legal, mas perde o save.
The game is very short and the cut scenes are pretty dreadful but the interactive experience was fun and the puzzles were challenging. I did notice that the save file corrupted and I had to start over quite a lot. Perhaps a bug to be fixed soon?
Gogii Games is hit and miss for HOGs. I loved it. I never ran into any game-breaking bugs so I can't coment on that.
While I really enjoyed playing this game, it is a quick one. I did not experience the problem with the corrupted save file. I liked the sound effects, the graphics were fine. The only thing I am sitting here trying to figure out, is why I was searching for carousel pieces that I never used.....buy it on sale.
Decent game but make one go at it from begining to end or your going to lose your save. Not reccomending at this time due to this bug.
I ran into the same save file corruption bug that everyone else is talking about. A pity; if it were not for that I could give this game a mildly positive review. It's an okay HOG, and the creepy atmosphere is nicely done, but it's not good enough to justify restarting from the beginning.
It's a pretty decent HOG - if you run it in one sitting. If not, you're likely to encounter the "save game corrupted" bug. Can't recommend a buggy game, so.. No.
2016,,,still has corrupted files
8.5/10 stars. An interesting concept. Seeing as I startle easy, it took me a while to get through some of the parts because they set you up for them real well.
Pros: Intriguing plot that kept me curious, little side entries you could read to try and figure out what was going on, items were pretty obvious at times but at the same time looked in place.
Cons: Seemed like a weird ending to me.
I thought this was a decent HOG with nice graphics, nice atmosphere, the HO scenes are good and I DID find it a little scarey at times. Happily, I didn't suffer from the save game problem until after I'd completed it. Strangely, though, the game finished before I'd completed all of the puzzles, which leaves one feeling dissatisfied. I don't know if that's a symptom of this not being the longer version or just a bug. Either way it shouldn't happen.
I hadn't completed the carousel, the statue or retrieved the hose from the tree when the game ended.
It's still worth grabbing when on sale and should provide a few hours of entertainment.
The graphics were pretty good in this game and the story line was ok. It felt a bit bland as it felt like I played it before - but never did. The puzzles were a bit easy for me but it did have the story line working for it. The end was a bit abrupt but understood. I would recommend this game for its overall content.
really not my cup of tea... Some may like it, I don't.
There are issues with this game. Difficult to interact with objects with multiple clicks. It seems to delete the save files too? What!?!
A very average hidden object game, with an annoying bug. (The save file corrupts if you exit after using the hose in the shed forcing you to start again).
When you wake up, you're in White Haven. You don't know anything apart that a little girl needs you. However, this abandoned facility is creepy. And what's with antidote?
In other words, White Haven Mysteries has everything for me to enjoy: dark plot, mysterious places and a constant question of why you? However, the game is giving away quickly the twist of the story... But still, it was exciting to know more. And unfortunately, well, I'm still confused about many elements.
The gameplay is standard: find items, clear hidden objects, solve puzzles, etc.. The hidden objects scenes are quite a thing: big list, items well hidden or partially visible, etc.. The puzzles were quite easy. I didn't really need to use the skip button. However, sometimes, it wasn't easy to find your way through. But each area cleared is tagged as such, so, you know where to go ultimately.
The graphics are good and the soundtrack is really giving you creepy feelings. I understand that the game is aimed more towards horror and moments to jump on your chair, however, it's soft.
Apart the fact that on Win 8.1, I have to close Steam through the task manager because once White Haven closed, it's still giving a signal that I'm still in the game, White Haven Mysteries is really a decent HO games. I just wish that the plot makes more sense (in the end, I still don't know what I was doing there, who brought me here, if there is any real person behind, etc..). Anyway, I'm still recommending the game.
Very disappointed! I played up to the point where I retrieved all the vials from the well. Saved the game, when I restarted it, my save was corrupted, and I am told to start over! I see on the Bigfish forums this was SUPPOSEDLY fixed 2 years ago! Sorry, it's NOT fixed!
Game still has the "your previous save file was corrupt. You will need to start over"-issue.
Do not buy.
I would not buy this game unless you have 2 -3 solid hours to sit down and play it through. Maybe if they fix the save game corruption, I'd change my review. The game itself is a fairly standard HO and fun enough for what it is.
Some people are surprised when they go to play this and find that it's a Hidden Object game. Having played those before though I knew that's what it would be and decided to buy it as it was on sale at the time. There's also the fact that in the 'About This Game' part it says that. The mix of reviews left me confused, though I read none before playing. I would say that I wish I had, but since the game was on sale for less than a dollar, all I really lost was my time.
The game play is good at first for an HO game, but as you progress things get more and more time consuming. Each task seems to take longer to complete than the last. I would have stopped playing because I was getting bored and irritated, but I was very curious to see how the story line would end. Like the game play, the story line was good at first. It drew you in and made you curious. As the game went on it remained okay, when you were able to get somewhere instead spending all your time on puzzles so you could get an object for another puzzle that is. Sadly though at the end of the game it all went downhill. It was like the ending was thrown together in rush. You were left with more questions and basically no answers for the ones you already had. The ending didn't fully make sense either, though I won't spoil it by saying more for those that choose to buy this game.
Personally I'm half and half on this game. It could've been both better and worse. Seeing as I have to choose whether I would recommend it or not, I'm going to say that I would recommend the game simply for that fact that it wasn't just straight up horrible and some people might like it. Though if you want a game that has closure at the end, then you do no want this one.

Played game twice and corruped file showed up 3/4 of the way through and had to start over. Not able to finish game.
Horror puzzle, but was not so scared that I could not complete the game. 6/10
White Haven Mysteries was the first HOG that I've played here on Steam, and also the first game that I've ever tried to review. Gosh, looking back to those couple of sentences that I scribbled and called as a review, I got embarrassed. I decided to run the game for a second time after a year - it's not that lengthy of a game anyhow - and write an appropriate review. I remember getting startled the first time that I've run the game, watching its eerie loading screen. I wondered if I've misread the description and bought myself a horror adventure instead of a HOG. Nope, this is a HOG nonetheless, and also a brief horror story.
Our protagonist is a young woman who finds herself in front of an abandoned Asylum called White Haven at the middle of the night. That's about it, that's all we know about our "Jane Doe". She doesn't remember anything. A little girl greets us at the front gate and invites us in for the doctor who would know what to do. As we step into the old building, the girl flees away and leaves us with a somehow distorted reality. Suddenly, a creepy voice that belongs to a young man echoes, calling us "his rats". Creeped out yet? I know I was.
Graphics and animations are fairly good within the genre. Background art works are cleverly designed to establish a unique atmosphere of "something's quite not right", and boy, do they manage to do so! The music is annoyingly creepy and background noises such as whispers, cackles and buzzing are always there to play you like a string. The atmosphere is the strongest feature of the game, creating the tension and thrill of the unknown successfully.
HOG scenes are usually quite alright. Nothing is too hard to notice, and items are always clearly displayed. But there are certain phases of the game when our character becomes "a bit off her head", then even HOGs turn into nightmares. Those games, I wouldn't ask for my worst enemy! Puzzles and mini games are not often, but the ones that we encounter are quite good. There was one puzzle near the end of the game, asking for us to arrange moon's phases in order as observed from earth. Quite neat, huh? Oh, fair warning: there is no map to track but the game tells you when there is nothing left to solve in an area that you are standing in, so backtracking isn't much of an issue.
I should say that I admire the effort put into making this game. It gives you a 3-4 hours of a HOG and a thrill that drives you insane alongside your main character. Does the ending worth it? Oh, I wouldn't know. It satisfied me enough, but I believe there would be people who'd call it a good story cut short. Maybe. We are used to unsatisfactory endings in this genre, so comparatively, it was great. Sadly, this is not the Collector's Edition, which would have a more complete story consistency, probably.
It might be important to mention that the game hails from Gogii Games, and their games are always either A+ or a big F. There is no in between. White Haven Mysteries was an A+ on effort, atmosphere, narration and HOG gameplay. Pick it on sale and have a few hours of HOG + psychosis thriller that you'd wish be longer.

This game was okay not bad story but ending could of been more
The game itself is pretty good - again a mix of point and click and hidden object. The ending is abrupt and absolute tosh. 70 mins of good gaming, though.
Hidden Object Mystery Story
Don't be fooled, this game is really a hidden Object game. With some additional riddles, it has some nice artworks and a creepy story about... well Amnesia. You have to find out what has happened to you, a long time ago, and you have to face the ghosts of the protagonists past, or better said the echoes.
Though the game is not the worst HOG there are some things about it that are in fact annoying. And no this game wasn't the CE... Furthermore it still has some gamebreaking glitches, I had luck that I encountered one after taking a break and closing the game after 20 Minutes of actual play... The safegame was corrupt and I had to restart the whole game.
Pro:
- Decent graphics that catch the atmosphere of the story, with some... well spooky effects.
- A mediocre story that has some fishy things about it.
Con:
- Gamebreaking glitches, some of them are really annoying.
- Well, it's sometimes at someplaces getting laggy... don't ask me why.
- The Ending, well, I expected a bit more of an ending...
- Overused and unmodified riddles.
Not Recomended
Even for five bucks this game has some annoying features that tell me to stay away from it for a replay. Some games actually are replayed by me - but this one? Sorry, No! The corruption of some safegames, the lags, sometimes the crashing and of course that this game was used as a recycle station for old puzzles - nah. If you have the chance to grab it somewhere for free, do it. But don't spend money on it.
I have just become a victim of the "corrupted file" problem. It seems like the game deverlopers should be able to fix this, considering so many people have had a problem with it. It was moderately entertaining until this heppened. Don't waste your money, no matter low low they discount it.
I managed to play through and beat this game in about 2 and a half hours on standard difficulty, so I never encountered any save file corruption to say anything about that. That being said, in ANY of these types of games, I never have needed to quit and come back to it later. They are always short enough to do in one sitting. IF you can play these types of games in one sitting, DO NOT let the "Save corruption" negative reviews scare you away. As for graphics, they're decent for what you'd expect for a hidden object game, as anything better would just increase the prices for them. The storyline was actually interesting, and I wasn't expecting it. I recommend getting it on sale, as none of these games ever last long enough. Anyone who thinks the game is 'too short', has never played an hidden object game before. They are designed to be short, which is why they're usually cheap. I highly recommend it, but only on sale.
I was a little baffled to see that this game had mixed reviews until I noticed some people mentioning an issue with the save file corrupting. However, I played it through in one sitting and if you're willing to or want to use this for a single-evening playthrough, as I did, it is absolutely worth it. The puzzles are simple enough to work through that it doesn't really require more than about 2-3 hours to finish (depending on your speed and whatnot).
The game does an excellent job with atmosphere and creepiness, sound and ambiance really adds to the setting, and voiceover work is quite well done (better than many HO games can boast). The HO scenes are well done, with objects that can be distinguished from one another and nice clear scenes. Puzzles, as I mentioned, are relatively simple but not so much that I felt like it was made for precocious kindergarteners.
The story is interesting, if not 100% original (but what story is nowadays?), and piecing together information via news clippings and journals helps keep the information trickling in as you go rather than spoon-feeding you chunks of information. The end wasn't entirely unexpected but I felt like it was done well. A few reviewers thought it could be confusing but it really shouldn't be, especially if you paid attention and read your news clippings as you got them.
At $4.99, it's priced reasonably for its length, and even better if you can grab it on sale. I feel like it's totally worth it, even knowing you might have to plow through it in one shot if the save issue hasn't been patched. It kept me interested enough that I didn't even notice how long I'd been playing it.
The idea is great the settings and atmosphere are great but the game falls short. The puzzles are rare, simple and easy. The ending came so fast that when I blinked I missed it. Not sure if I should thumbs up or down, I just loved the setting and the way it started. I'd say unless it's on super sale and can buy it for a $, don't waste your money.
This was a terrible game. Short, way to easy, and little to no story. The voice acting was terrible. It advertises as a "horror" game. This couldn't scare my 5 year old neice. Do your self a favor and buy another game.
This game caught me by surprise, and that is a very, very rare thing. If you like HOG games, this is well worth checking out, with an immersive, creepy enviroment and genuinely unsettlingly good voice work.
I must admit, I was very reluctant about buying this game. The screenshots from the store page and the negative comments have always put me off and every time there was a sale, I let the opportunity pass by. Turns out that I was wrong in doing so. This is a decent HOG, inclining towards quite a good game. It's not the greatest out there, but it exceeded by far my expectations.
The story is set in a mental hospital called White Haven Mysteries. The main character wakes up in an abandoned building, only to find that she’s been drugged and cannot remember who she is. She needs to find the antidote to her illness as soon as possible, and all of this while a mysterious man taunts her with his experiments. She must figure out who and where she is. This is one of the common themes among horror games, but the story itself is not a scary one, though spooky enough to give you a couple of jump scares and a gentle thrill. There are interesting and unpredictable twists, meant to keep you absorbed throughout the whole gameplay. The ending ruins it a bit though - it is very abrupt and vague, letting you wonder what the meaning of the whole story was.
The scenes are beautifully drawn and the designers chose to lighten the dark setting with cheerful elements: vividly colored flowers, white snow, gardens with green trees and joyful pumpkins. The ability to maintain a scary atmosphere while creating scenes that are both dark and radiant at the same time is what gives this game’s art a distinctive feature.

The ambience is even more emphasized by the spooky sounds and the scary little girl that happens to cross your path several times, singing “Ring Around The Rosy” in a creepy tone.
A downside of this game was in my opinion the difficulty of the puzzles – they were quite easy to solve and none provided a real challenge. However, a couple of the hidden object scenes reminded me about the early days of the HOG games, where all the items were arranged in a certain shape - I found those quite fun:

The game comes with a major flaw: for many people, exiting the game deletes the save files and the developers are not putting effort into fixing this issue. I quit the game several times and I didn’t get the error, but I did encounter this issue after I finished one full playthrough.
Unfortunately, the version found on Steam does not contain the extra chapter of the Collector’s Edition, so the gameplay is rather short: 2-3 hours on average. I feel that the asking price is a bit too high for what the game offers, so I’d recommend picking it up during one of its many sales.

Very fun story line. A little dissapointed that I finished the game even if I still had a last puzzle to finish and it is impossible to return to do it :(
I also had a issue with saving my game. Every time I tried to continue my game, the saved file was always corrupted and I had to restart the game from the beginning.
I tried to resolve the problem by desinstalling and reinstalling the game, but this time, I couldn't verify the problem, since I finished the game the same night.
I recommand this game, good story, alot of fun puzzles, you do have to go back and forth in the game, but I liked the chalenges.
( also kein Sicherheitssave ).
Eigendlich schade... "GOGII" eben..
I love hidden object games, but I like having tasks and steps to achieve goals.
A good little game, but like many others, my save game was corrupted and I lost my progress and had to start again, which is annoying! So please fix this, and untill then..........DON'T BOTHER BYING IT!!!!
my its working fine,no saving problems or anything :D and i like the game, coll story and nice Horror things ;)
I couldn't finish the game as my "Save is corrupted", which apparenlty is a bug that was never patched. So unless you intend to play the game in one sitting, just forget it. Too bad, because it's really a good game otherwise...
Impression: A HOG that excelled in atmospheric and the hidden object aspects but umimpressive in the puzzle and features department.
Recommendation: Thumbs up. Buy on discount.
The Good:

Brilliant presentation of horror in a HOG, utilising atmospheric sounds and creepy animations very well

Great voice-acting

Extensive number of locations & hidden objects that are well-drawn

Hidden objects were well-placed and give a decent challenge

Game inventory use is largely intuitive and make logical sense
The Bad:

Puzzles were rare and pretty easy

Short in gaming length: Finished in 2 hours on normal mode

Facial animations of characters in cutscenes were overdrawn and distracting

Sounds can be very repetitive and irritating
The Ugly:

Had a fantastic concept of hallucinations that changed the perspective of environment, which was only used twice in whole game

Story ending was abrupt and unsatisfying

Options were limited: Normal/Expert mode with increased hint time the only difference in difficulty

No bonus content: No achievements, no cards, no epilogue, concept art

Tied with the previous point: Absolutely no replayability
For people who know their HOG's:
This game has the barebones expected of a HOG; you get a vague story, lots of hidden objects to find and work your way through. The biggest problem with this one was it really had the potential to stick out as unique HOG (even without the expected bonus features you get with HOG's on Steam), in that it really drew into the horror/thriller world. The whole game was dedicated to scaring you and keep you guessing to the end. Unfortunately it doesn't keep the momentum going and the ending ends up being a plot hole on its own. Another missed opportunity, is the feature of hallucinations which really tied into the story but again never panned out. Solving puzzles to change the environment to 'reality' was really entrancing, but the game only used it twice (the second being only half-completed). This, with no replayability, is why I recommend the game, but only when its on sale.
For people who are new/casual to HOG's (Hidden Object Games):
This is a game where you tramp around a massive property, finding items to help you as you work your way through the story and the locations. It has sections where you have to find everything on a list (hidden-objects) or have to solve puzzles to proceed.
This HOG is one of the better ones I've seen, because it incorporated horror and thill so well, whilst many other games in the genre often skimp on. The hidden objects in the game are challenging but not frustrating and same could be said for the few puzzles you do find. Unfortunately, it has none of the bonus features that are now becoming standard on Steam, including trading cards and an epilogue. This game is an excellent example for a casual player and I recommend it.
-Recommended Title-
White Haven Mysteries is a Hidden Object (point and click), Adventure game.
The story line is kept me interested throught the entire game. The visuals are appealing and of good quality. The sounds are good. .
I found the discovery of objects and the challenge of puzzles engaging, and difficult enough for the game not to be a walk in the park.
WHM can be completed in an evening, of solid gameplay. I cant say what the replayability value is, as I've only played the game to completion once.
It's definately one to add, to the adventure collection. I picked WHM up on sale so that made the deal even sweeter.
6.5/10
Good game for $1.24 if you like HOG
another very short game. but it was a good one if you like the find it adventures
Pros:
Cheap (If you get it on sale or with a coupon)
Easy
Long enough
Cons:
Too many campy cutscenes
Lots of illogical going back and forth
Low originality
Like most Gogii games, won't shut down quickly (you may have to reboot your computer)
Really bad science...
White Haven Mysteries is a typical HOPA. It's mediocre in any sense possible. Why do I still recommend it? If you get it cheap enough - i.e., at a discount of at least 50% - you'll get yourself a fairly good deal if you like that kind of game.
In detail:
# It has the standard game modes: Quick hint recharge and sparkles OR slow hint recharge, no sparkles.
# The graphics are good, but not amazing. The HO scenes are clear, and the objects are big enough to be spotted.
# It's quite short. It took me just 2 hours to finish it, and I read every journal entry and didn't skip a single puzzle.
# The story is nothing new. A spooky building, a mystery to solve, a mad scientist - standard stuff. The ending was a tad confusing, but I believe I understood it.
(Note: I can't say anything about sound or VOs, as I played it muted. Also, I finished it in one sitting, so I can't comment on the corrupted save file issue.)
"A Nail Biting Adventure" - Ich habe weder meine Nägel zerkaut ... mampf, mampf.. oh, entschuldigt!
While I love these mediocre point/click games I have to say this was done pretty bad. The storyline was meh if you could even call it a storyline, I don't expect it to be best seller writers telling the story but I do expect it to at least interest me. The puzzles were completely nonsensical most of the time; never used hint as much as I have in this game in any others I have played, literally no way to even guess what they wanted you to accomplish bar spamming hint and trying out all your items. I also encountered a bug where I was able to bypass an hour or so of the game which I must say I am not complaining about. The warning sign as you load up set it up so that everyone who played it would be disappointed, I don't think I even noticed it being eerie at all. Worst of all is that you could completely just spam click the hidden item sections and finish them, in fact it was generally faster to do that than to search for items that blended into the background so well that they actually were part of the scenery and the only way to see them is with hints, not good.
