Gem in the rough. Space Sim/Spaceship game. Good as it is and it will be epic if it's ever done. Another awesome game made by a crazy person in a basement somewhere.

I know there is still work being done on the game, but access to it is through somewhere else. The dev is doing the bare minimum to keep his game marked as abandoned while having no intentions on finishing the game, or posting anymore updates to steam.

Leider nur bugs bugs bugs. So schlimm, dass ich es nicht mehr spielen kann. nach jeder 4. Interaktion ein neuer bug. Schiffe kann ich nicht ausrüsten, Schiffe werden als Wrack erkannt, nur weil ich ein anderes schiff gespornt habe. Missionen gehen nicht, werden nicht angezeigt oder lassen das spiel auf 1 Bild pro 3 Sekunden droppen, wehrend der Chat sturm läuft. Das Spiel war leider schonmal viel besser
Has the bones of the best 2D space sim ever but the level of jank gets worse with every update. I started loving it and ended up hating it.
great concept of a space game
very tentative thumbs up. fun concepts with horrible implementation with quality of life. The crew are borderline brain damage they wont use any modules that dont go pew pew at the enemy. fighter drones cant be recalled so everytime you travel drive away after a fight your drones are gone for the next 5 min or so until they despawn and magically appear in your bays. i hope the devs put some time into some of the glaringly bad bugs and bad mechanics. with the hundreds of small things like the above mentioned it gets frustrating. fix that up and the game would be an all around blast. until then its nothing more than a repair/build simulator.
edit: after 152 hours of playin the game lags so bad when a new window is pulled up or an item is used (3-4 sec per action) its unplayable. sad because the mechanics are fun. those that work correctly.
edit edit: still buggy as crap but the extreme lag issue seems to be linked to specific ship builds. after trying a dif ship it has been fine.
This game is still in it's development cycle (and has been since around 2011), if you can cope with bugs and small issues it is a very deep and entertaining game unique in its approach of ship designing (you need to plan power as well as walkways and such). Combat it entertaining as well in ship's and stations as in space.
There are some challenges but mostly the game is about relaxing and building the best possible ship and character gear.
It is made by a small dev team, with no publisher, and they work on it on their own time and money keep that in mind. So progress in development is not fast, but from what i see they are thorough in their approach and work, they give feedback about progress once every couple of months, but in this case patience is a virtue.

This is a really fun game and nearly 10 years after buying it, the dev is still providing support and significant updates. clearly a work of passion!
i love the game and it is werry fun to play it has some bugs but no balance breaking or crashes unless you do something stupid and intentenely try to crash it(hi) and any bugs that there are have a mod that fixes them, while the story is not finnished the game is worth the price if this is the tipe of game you like

Started out really promising, nearly ten years ago. Was a pretty cool little sandbox, but buggy as hell.
That was ten years ago. Now, this guy sits in his discord talking about how his game is gonna get updates again, but never publishes them to steam.
The last update was August 2024. How do we get steam to do that thing where they put the warning in the early access section about how long it's been since update?

I've not played this in years. I saw how the dev is still going with it and has made MAJOR updates so I got happy and decided to give it another go and let me tell you something, my friends. I made a mistake. Based on the "Tutorial" alone this dev really needs to go do something else with his life, Awful. Clunky. Bad UI. Stay away from this one.

I love a lot of what the dev is doing with this game. You will see a lot of negative reviews on here because for a time, the dev went through a slump and wasn't doing a ton of work on the game and some people thought it was abandonware, but the dev has since come back and has been putting in a lot of really promising work. I can imagine it's hard to put the time in when the game hasn't sold as many copies as would be necessary to fund the game full-time. I think the recently unveiled world engine is an awesome idea and I think it's exactly what this game needs.
However, I think the game would sell way better and make more money if it was $10 or $15. $30 is a bit high considering a lot of the unfinished things in this game when you compare it to many other games on the market at a similar price point. I want this game to get more funding so that it can get the love and attention it deserves. There is so much going for it that I really want to see it succeed.
The shipbuilding alone in this game is inspired. Updates come in very slowly, but that's to be expected from a one man passion project. I fully believe once it's ready it's going to be an amazing game. It's already a blast to mess around with.
WTF at it's core it's basically a top down 2d playfield 3d graphics ship combat game that aspired to have ship building systems and the ability to walk around within every ship and station and do... things, like building and modifying your own ships. They also wanted to have space slog jobs like mining and transportation, and some kind of major quest system that just never panned out. In practice, only the combat was interesting. Everything else is clunky, unfinished or just plain broken.
I was a kickstarter backer of this in 2014, so this has been in development for 11 years. The developer productivity is minimal. The response to feedback is quite toxic/unhelpful, and ultimately it just doesn't feel like substantial progress has been made in those eleven years.
If you compare this game to Starsector which started development in 2011 and helped inspire this game, this thing has made zero progress by comparison. Basically once a year Starsector drops big patches, and the game is so mature after years and years of bug fixing and QOL changes that the mod scene has flourished. Starsector had a very narrow scope to begin with (ship combat simulator) and then once the combat and ai was rock solid, then they started adding metagame layers. This game just tried doing everything all at once.
The patches here just don't make an impact. If you look at patchnotes they typically fix a couple of bugs every several months. There is just nearly no new content. The game is still an early alpha in terms of bugs, placeholders and overall design after 11 years.
A year ago they released a 'major' overhaul patch where they were scrapping a bunch of systems and re-doing it all over. The patch notes literally have a line where the dev gripes that they should have just made an incremental game instead of trying to have quests because he hates dealing with bugs with said quests. They also said the overhaul was why they didn't just slap a 1.0 on it.. again, this game is like an early alpha.
The concept is great, but concepts aren't a game. The whole project feels like the devs bit off more than they could chew, and they stayed paralyzed rather than taking a step back and working on their project iteratively while avoiding scope creep.
Stuff like walking around inside of ships sounds great on paper, but actually playing it while having space combat playing out in real time is not practical, and at the same time walking around in stations is an exercise in patience because it's just a couple of stores with no real purpose to actually walk around beyond things that could just fit into a menu to focus on the actual fun part of the game: ship to ship combat.
IMO at this point they should just rip the bandaid off and acknowledge they're never finishing the game. But don't take my word for it, check out the other reviews!

Игра интересная, живые и интерактивные бои. Разрушаемость кораблей, возможность взаимодействия на кораблях и станциях, различные механики, красивая картинка. Настоящая лудомания, когда ты летаешь по космосу ища новые корабли, которые можно захватить и изучить.
Главные минусы, это всё же долгая разработка и увлеченность разработчиком на большие обновления, и практически полное игнорирование починки багов и баланса, что приводит к раздражающим ситуациям или полной поломке прохождения. В моём случае удалил игру несмотря на интерес, когда после долгой игры нажал на заход в ангар на станции у которой её не было, и вместо предупреждения что там нет ангара, мне крашнуло игру и поломало сохранения.

Интерфейс непонятный, нелогичный и неудобный.
Как подбирать лут в космосе? Вот пострелял по астероиду а как подобрать руду - пойди догадайся.
Квесты можно получать только в определённой комнате на станции, при этом эта комната может находиться где-то в жопе.
Некоторые комнаты могут быть ловушкой - т.к. закрыть окно в меню на одну кнопку, а выйди из комнаты на другую - и пойди угадай в какой момент которую кнопку надо нажимать.
На станции парковаться неудобно, т.к. ты либо проносишься мимо на скорости, либо медленно тошнишь чтоб попасть в зону парковки, автопилота тут нету.
Карта непонятная, есть куча меток но нельзя нажать на них и посмотреть что там находится в подробностях, только обозначения картинок в углу.
Поиграйте лучше в Starsector.

Couldn't figure out how to actually pick up the passenger i was supposed to transport. Gave up. My time is worth more to me than trying to decipher how this game expects me to do basic actions.

I like what little writing there is.. and am enjoying the game quite a bit. I uh.. got the mill credit mission completed in the starter ship..before realizing I can already make muh own ship. I thought for sure they'd mention it at some point but.. I guess you can just optionally start building your ship whenever in 'logisitics'.
I wish the game had traditional save slots.. things get a bit janky if you alt + f4 to avoid repercussions from slamming into an asteroid at 4KM/S.. buuut.. I have a feeling that's a 'me problem'.

Good music, seems like the goal was to create a very vast universe and game, not very intuitive, no story line intro, nothing design for getting you up and running without an excessive learning curve. Nowhere near the level of the other games its compared against in the reviews. I have even tried to revisit this game but within a short time stopped.
I like this game, it is ambitous. The 2D ship to ship combat is potentially more interesting than games like Cosmoteer and Starsector because has less of an arcade feel to it. I like that you can move seamlessly around your ship, into bases etc. It is, however, hard to believe is has been in development since 2016. I wish all the best to the developers, there must be some good stories to tell about those 8 years.
The first ship you get is bugged, a lot of things are bugged. before reporting the bugs on the forum or Discord, please be aware that the bugs are caused by you playing wrong.

For the first 3 hours, I can't create new ship, and don't have enough money to buy new ship to replace my slow mining ship.
Until I find I can scrap first ship to get enough resources. But I find I forget edit the blueprint before spawn, so I scrap it again, and... I don't have enough resource to spawn ship again. So I can't play anymore.
I have WORKED to get answers to what would be a gem (if it were loved just a little more by the dev(s.))
I have unanswered questions on the discussion and discord. You cannot just pick this up and play it. Very unconventional, which I usually like, but just navigating the game screens/menus will take you to forums. Good luck on that.
Seriously I hate the way this review sounds, but I only regret buying it (on sale) because answers are so hard to get.
It's pretty pretty to look at. It has a following of die hards. They can be helpful when you get answers. Maybe I forgot to say please. It has unique on foot and ship play. Use "f" to enter and exit the different interfaces. Oh and inventory is "e." I had to research those. Hope it helps someone else. The music is good.

Personal record for fastest refund. What a buggy mess.
Start campaign. Get tools from cabinet. Put out random fire. Cool. Can't really tell what is walking area/catwalk/wall etc, can't go anywhere, can't pan camera. Finally scroll way out and see the message about coworker. Finally get him to the console (which is about 4 pixels at max zoom), still can't go through door. Screw around and make coworker come over, he does, blows a giant blue load all over half the ship and the door opens! Cool. Still can't go through door. Walk back to the bed for the 4th time because maybe? Go back to the door, it closes, then opens for real this time.
Pop out in a ship. Message says go to green thing. No green thing. Shoot debris, there are some highlighted interactable objects that aren't interactable. Shoot mssiles, shoot cannons, look at map, read empty journal again, mash buttons in lieu of any type of guidance, make it out of little asteroid cul-de-sac into empty space with no idea where to go. Exit game. Request refund.

Honestly exactly what im looking for, its more "realistic" and less gimmicky then cosmoteers factorio in space, and the cool mechanics expand far beyond the ship internals customization. Also dont pay the mixed reviews too much mind, devs been working on this for a while and made some great improvements to the early game recently

I wanna like this game because it's got a cool idea, but the walky-around bit is really cumbersome. And it assumes I've got a flashy gamy mouse because my missiles are bound to a button I do not have.
I'm not sure what the huge overhaul did but it for sure broke the start of the game. Total shame because I bet if the gameplay worked at the beginning of a campaign, it might open up and maybe it would be fun. Too expensive even on sale to take the chance of sitting on it and hoping it gets fixed in the future. I do hope it continues to get updates and maybe works eventually.

30 minute review of an (eight years!) early access game heading for an early refund.
TLDR: PROBABLY A GREAT GAME HIDING IN THERE IF YOU HAVE THE PATIENCE FOR IT.
If this review could be neutral, it would be. We're talking an IGN 6 out of 10 here, probably 7 on release. Labor of love (or in this case, hatred) but "not for me" kind of stuff. Played thousands of hours of very similar games but this one didn't click.
The Game: It seems there's a lot of meat under the hood. Complex mechanics (lots of UI elements and numbers on the screen). Skill trees, crews, weapons and ship design, farming and I assume missions. A polished look and a good atmosphere. Mod support. Combat felt pretty good; you can feel the weapons have punch and feedback, and the turrets, huh, turret satisfyingly.
The EARLY Game: The new player onboarding felt absolutely terrible to me. If the game is partly an RPG, where's the story? Character customization? If it's a sandbox, why am I stuck in a ship I didn't even choose, in an area I didn't choose or customize? Campaign? What campaign, there's nothing there. The learning curve is obviously going to be high for this sort of game, which is fine in a vacuum, but there's almost zero tutorial or anything to guide the player. I THINK there was a message that said to follow an arrow, but it immediately disappeared before I could really read it. There was most definitely no arrow to follow, just a few circles to pick up things (atrociously, UI wise).
Then nothing but the vast emptiness of space. I tried something called a warp drive (or something to that effect, the T key) but that didn't do anything, just toggled an UI element for a split second. Then I zoomed out. More empty space. Tried the "?" in the UI. I learned to grow crystals on my home base; I have neither crystals to grow nor a Homebase as far as I can tell. But hey, good job there with those tutorials; they are really well done. I can only suggest it being available for basic things that are relevant to new players.
Said another way: You (whoever you are, unknown) are plucked in a ship (whichever ship that might be, unknown) somewhere (wherever that might be, unknown) to do whatever you want. That last bit is normal for a sandbox (let's ignore that I'm playing the "campaign" sandbox experience), but here it only builds on a whole lot of unknowns. UI only gets the most cursory of explanations, which don't clearly guide a player on how to get past the very first obstacles. Nothing hard for a gamer (TM) to figure out, but those things do matter when you build a game. See: "Game Design 101: How Mario Makes You a Better Player" and other videos such as the likes of.
There's a few more minor things I immediately disliked, but nothing serious. The intro about a game kept alive by hatred and mental illness was crass and not exactly promising. The debug-like discussion with the turrets was juvenile. The lack of properly named items such as "turret_stuff1" was amateurish. I don't mind things being slow at first if there's a goal, but as far as I could see, there were no goals. Even the price after bargain felt high (as in, high for the market and what the game currently is), particularly considering the lack of a demo.
Recommendation: Early game mission strings leading to the various play aspects, to be skipped at player discretion.
A better version of cosmoteer and it reminds me of star sector, I'm just waiting for the multiplayer to be finished so that I can hop on again and recommend my friends to play with me like they did with cosmoteer which we very much enjoyed
Ok, this game has many great mechanics I love, e.g., the damage model and that one can repair a ship piece by piece. Running around on your ship, while it gets fired upon is just great, the sound, the damage, etc.
This is something I haven't seen in any other game.
Yet, there are several problems
* Some stuff is just really counter-intuitive without the help from the discord I probably would have been stuck early on. Some of those issues might be due to early access, but some are not.
* Various bugs and/or weird decisions that make the game unnecessarily annoying, e.g, you can't refit a ship nor can you test a ship in the campaign, this means if you make an error in ship design, you have to scrap it and start all over, e.g., you forget to place the selector to the repair drones or guns, well, bad luck.
So far after playing for 26 hours, I enjoy it. This is fun, lots to do, and I can build my own space ship.

Really want to love this game but last update gave me many mixed and confusing feelings.
I bought the game when you had to engineer your ship or simply tweak the ones you salvaged. And it was beautiful when you just added a few things or removed or heck spent hours tweaking a ship just to find a better one 10mins later.
The whole loop was to go out there, find a EVA suit and then start the salvage - which means get to a fight with a slightly bigger ship than yours and try to kill the crew and leave most the ship intact (or if you have an Eagle with the repair drone) and repair it to bring it back to station to unlock it.
Then the unlocks about the components was cool, you could only add or remove them if you researched it - meaning you had to work around the limitations. But it was so satisfying when you finally unlocked all the tech 1 and you had your fully customade ship that could easily take on bigger ships.
Then there was the added ores you needed to actually create the ship which again was a nice addition. You could either go mine or salvage a ship to get a fraction of the value (if I recall correctly)
Then the big update comes and I get a ship that was "balanced" only to have it lose power to everything by just turning the damm thing... How come you have a out of the box ship that cost 100k and can't operate more than 5 secs without being unable to keep the ship stead?? How come the 30k ship with no shields and fixed tiny machine guns can face off bigger ships without power being an issue???
Honestly I want to love this game but right now there's so many directions this game is pulling I can't even decide if the additions are even worth it.
It was easier to just ignore all the new stuff and do things the old fashion way. And yeah the packey balls are actually useful since catching those ships are worth way more than doing any missions.
And it took me a while to figure out how to change weapon on ships with the new method (you have to press "S" to pan the camera down to see the ships in your pokeballs).
The new diablo style guns are a neat addition but I felt the components kinda gave the edge since they are universal.
All in all it's like "holy Molly a big update just came notice" to "w.t.f."

A game with a lot of potential that still feels like a really buggy early version of what it's supposed to be. Some gameplay mechanics are interesting and fun but often still lack basic features and feel more like an amalgamation of quick fixes. AI behaviour is simply not up to the task whether assisting or fighting the player.
Overall, a mixed bag with some nice bits, but at the moment it's still not really enjoyable.
The game has some unique gameplay and creative ideas. That said, it is a very buggy and unfinished game. On top of that, updates come so long apart that it's a borderline abandoned game. I've spent so many hours designing a ship just to find out that the endgame content is a joke! Even easier than some moments before! The gameplay systems are so unbalanced, and there are so many unfinished things in the game. You can see how lazy the developer is when you finish the last quest. The last quest bugs out, giving you the same research three times and points you to go to the base. When you go there, the talk button on One is not working. I assumed the quest was bugged. I asked people on Discord only to find out it's the last quest. The developer thinks it's funny to tell people where to go next, but didn't mention that he took like eight years developing this and stopped there, so you waste time trying to fix it.
So, looking at my hours, you might think, "Why the negative review?" Well, most of it was spent troubleshooting, wandering, and trying to find some content in a massive, empty universe. Some mods break world creation, and the worst thing about it is that you might not notice this until you get to the endgame and you got yourself a broken savefile locking you out of the endgame. Such a disappointing and frustrating game…

Plugging in headphones makes the game crash. That's the kind of stuff you deal with when trying to play this. I've soft locked my game 3 times in the 5 hours I've played, including once just by surviving something that I later found out was supposed to kill me in the tutorial. NPCs do not have any dialogue scripted. Like none of them do. There's like 10 icons for items in the game so they get reused for everything and it quickly becomes a confusing mess. This game just overall reeks of a dev who won't even do the bare minimum to make the game playable or the user experience bearable, alpha or no. It's not meant to be fun, I guess. After like what, a decade of development? You'd expect at least... something to work. Anything. Instead it feels like this game was put into development this week, not with "a lot of placeholder stuff" but with ONLY placeholder stuff. I get that game dev takes time but like, do at least the minimum to make the things you do add function.

In the steam forums, there has been a fair amount of impatient, incorrect comments about "the game being dead".
Obviously by this latest major update, the game is not dead. And if these commenters had ever bothered to swing on down to discord, they would have seen a vibrant community where the devs have responded questions, feedback, bugs, etc.
So yes the game is alive. And yes, I really like this game. I am not going to do a full review... but all I will say is that if you like games like Starsector, Reassembly, Heat Signature, Star Valor, etc., you will will most likely enjoy Wayward.
My only beef with the game, is, it is hard to figure out what to do/how to do it. Like... for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to kit out crew. I can bring up their profile, but I cannot move weapons from me, or from cargo storage (on ship or in station) to them).
For passenger or cargo delivery missions... nothing appears in my ship after I accept a contract (fairly sure I have the right type of ship/rooms... but how do I know if I have a ship that has 5 premium rooms vs. basic rooms? I can't see any ship deets that tell me this--or anywhere to go/click to see ship deets.
And ship combat... I bought a ship design, built it--it has weapons--but then I am unable to fire them (no mouse buttons work). But the original ship I had in tutorial fired weapons. So... something in ship isn't working. But no idea what. Or how to check. Or how to fix. I can use the ship editor at the main menu, but that doesn't impact the SP game. I can find no way to edit the ship in the SP game. I have no idea how to upgrade weapons, armour. Maybe I just haven't gone far enough for that part of the game (e.g. crazy AI at my base) to tell me how.
There are more items that fall under this "I have no idea what the heck I am supposed to do" category... but still, this game is fun. I appreciate the snarky writing, I would say that you may need to spend more time than necessary searching through wikis, discord, steam discussion, or asking chat GPT for advice... but still...
This game is FUN. There is still a lot to complete/fix in the SP campaign (like, I can hail a station infested with those crawly alien things--no humans on it--yet I will receive a "go away we hate you" response. There isn't really any interaction with any other NPCs that I have seen in the game.
But again. This game is fun, I appreciate what the devs are doing--specifically as I can only guess that this isn't their full time job, and that making ANY game is intensive.
So, this game rocks. I would recommend purchasing it, but just with caveat, it is obviously still early access... the updates are far away from each other, and there is a large learning curve.
But the game is still fun and enjoyable!
Very good for all the players who like 2d space and ship building games, it feel like cosmoteer but with better graphics else it need many improvements and some quests are often bugged.

I am personally enjoying the gameplay loop and the intricacy of the spaceship building system in this game.
A word of caution though, game is still in early development, and the dev team is small so the updates roll at the pace you'd expect from a small studio.
That said, they are working actively on the game and are very active on discord and responding to player inquires when possible, so I am in full support of their endeavour.
After all these year I can say that newest update as broke the game!! Don't bother buying it!! He Made making ships and combat a pain vs when I first bought the game years ago it was fun!! Random mission system is broken I was never able to complete one them!! Making and modding use to be simple now you got some pok'e ball system that a pain to figure out 5 hrs cann't mod my ships!!
Don't bother Buying it as playing more of a chore then fun!!
I'm going leave my OG comment. Mind you I had to restart 3 times to get the game going as it change some core stuff for ships. Sense then I have tested the game more it ok though it does have some issues. One in that Nanite Aura Hanging is a problem as it slow down if there a gap there no structure under it make it hang up making repair take hell of alot longer.
Tips for Starting Players in the game
1. Follow the new instuctions and take your time!!
2. When you want do business on a station "Tab" target it then "V" this only way you get access to your ship stores when on station!! If you Docked you have only access your self.
3. Pok'e Ball the hell out ships there worth 20k+ easy!!
4. Buy a Gun on your home station and raid the direlict Bases. Try and find a Preferred None Nanite Aura as this is best over all disspite it hang on gaps as it repairs.
5. Read rule 2 when you want to put resources on your station to make a new ship. You can then unload it to personal account in on your home base visa the terminals were you spawn ships.
6. Missions this important one so going sub class it by mission type. Pay will determine your distant you have travel 50-100k means a very very long trip!!
6a. Passagers Missions = This one easy to understand Look at what cabins you have there are different ranks to them so you need that many or more. Read it what is needed for the trip before accepting!! If the rank of your cabins is higher then what there ask it a act like a free upgrade.
6b. Fighting missions = Read the discription see what you may be up against. I would suggest making a ship before doing these.
6c. Transport missions = ? Yet to complete one!! But I suspect that it take the mission you Shuttle your ship then to go a station pick up cargo then run it to other station!! Please remember Rule 2
7. Turrets This one really got me for some time. But it is not that complex just to older players. You need Buy or Make the turret your going installation. Still Testing so Grain of salt!! I found has works Have the turret in your personal inventory when installing. Yet to test see can be in ship stores or station storehouse.
8. Reloading ship weapons and repair drone put some of Nanite Goo/Ammo crates in the ship cargo hold. I would suggest keeping handful on your just incase when you plan to fight ship to ship!! Ballistic weapons need Ammo crates Bigger the turret more they take reload!!
9. AI Crew = THANK GOD don't have to have them as they annoying follow you!! But if you do then use them then there follow thing set it to hold if you click on follow!!
9a. Don't take them in to Diralect Bases there there going to die!!!
9b. Skills = No idea how they Level and work
9c. Can you befitt from having them yea. But there still really really really stupid!!!
9d. Not tested but!! Having them on ship and you died you spawn in to them or that was
what happened old days!!
10 Mod up a ship your self it will normally be better!! Then what they fly!!

To the maker "FOR LOVE OF GOD FIX THE NANITE ARUA GAP PROBLEM!!" I had to let a ship sit 6+ hrs to repair because of this problem!! This problem been around for years now!!!
I have played this game for a reasonable period, before the recent update, the game was playable although clearly unfinished with not that much to do. However, i did find it quite enjoyable- flying around, hijacking, repairing, upgrading and designing ships. Unfortunately the recent update although meant well had broken the game for me to a point that it is unplayable- ships randomly rotating with no way to control it, starting missions that send you across minutes of empty space and back...shops that no longer work and wont sell you items, hangers that wont spawn ships even when they are in your character slot- this was all in the tutorial phase of the game. I hope this gets another update very soon, but dont hold your breath!
All in all, this is currently as much fun as watching a dry slug slowly desiccate on a sunny pavement...you like the idea, but when it comes to it, nowhere near as interesting than you first thought. If you are reading this and looking for something better to do, I recommend axe throwing, archery, wood carving, going for a poo, drawing- hell most things are more fun than this right now.
Back from the dead! I'm so pleased to see the game being updated in a major way, since I always felt it had something special going for it!

I played it since first days and then some, its great and it came a long way to what it is now, the only sad part is that it took almost a decade lol, but hey, its still a great experience
Nice Game, i hate writing text if i just want to give a thumbs up.
I first saw this game more than 10 years ago when they did a Kickstarter that failed, so they tried again and made it. Unfortunately, it never really took off on Steam when they went into early access. Despite that, the devs are still grinding away at it, and they just released another update yesterday. Have to give them credit for their tenacity here.
The most similar other game to this that I can think of is Cosmoteer.
I've certainly gotten my value out of this at roughly 200 hours played even before this latest update. Given the above it's hard not to recommend buying this, but be warned that it isn't the most user friendly game out there, and at the moment lacks any meaningful tutorial or instructions.

Quite a fun game in my opinion, development can be a bit slow and developer communication is mostly done on their discord server. Recently got a major update that overhauls a lot of the game systems in a positive direction.
I am looking forward to what the future has in store for this game : )
UNSURE WHY ALL THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS personally i damn well like this game and so far no bugs at all learning curve is fun all you youngsters that think the world needs to hold your hand need to grow up. far as i can tell game dosnt need updating because its finished that does happen you realize no one can update forever .only one gripe price is steep for an old game old but GOOD
UPDATE: It's worse than Abandonware. The game went from a single-player no-online connection game... to a Multiplayer ONLY game that FORCES you to connect to a server, without any option to play single player anymore.
And to boot... there is a nice little message when you create your initial profile: "You may lose your character and everything on it when server lease ends".
I don't know what this person is doing, but I will NEVER buy another game from this scummy developer who can't finish a game, and is now forcing it to be ONLINE ONLY.
Abandonware. The developer simply got bored working on it and abandoned it.
Devs seem to be unwilling or unable to go beyond a small team, halting development to a near standstill. I hope things get better.

Last update was almost a year ago. It's an alright game as is, but not worth 30 bucks for an EA that hasn't gotten any updates for so long.
This game is the reason I no longer buy into Early Access. It had all the potential but updates were glacially slow. The last major update was almost 3 years ago with only small bug fixes since (and there havent even been any of those in almost a year).
At this point id say the game is abandoned and will never reach V1.0.
If that changes ill come back and change this review, but i highly doubt i'll have cause to click on this page again
I've been following this game since it was first released in 2016. From back when the "community" as it was, was a Skype group long before discord was around. To say that I loved this game is an understatement, and I feel like I personally got my money's worth over the years. But I cannot recommend anyone purchase this game.
The concept is great, the visuals are gorgeous, there are mechanics that are good and work well, but the main developer, he has no organization, no real desire to actually focus and fix what needs fixing. Instead he's off working on a multiplayer variant of the game. Instead of addressing the enormous amount of jank that continues to exist in the game that is still FOR SALE, he chooses to ignore it and is rude and belligerent when new players join the discord to ask for help.
I would say that this developer's approach is worse than just abandoning the project, instead he continues to get what little sales there are and provide an inferior product.
Very good space sandbox game if you like tinkering with ship designs and unlocking stuff - but keep in mind, updates seem to be few and far between, apparently for sound motives.
I recommend buying this and leaving a positive review too if you want to support the developer, but don't expect frequent updates. Still, the passion and care behind this indie gem can be seen around the rough edges, and is pretty enjoyable as is.
Unlocking new ship designs and refurbishing their interiors freely is a whole game on its own, and discovering new subsystems and turrets brings meaningful progression to your creative aspirations. The detailed, block-by-block damage in combat adds a very interesting depth to maneuvering and armor placement, closing a captivating loop of iterative engineering and combat which I found super satisfying!
There can be usability quirks and clearly unfinished stuff, naturally. AI (both allied and enemy) is pretty rudimentary for example, so don't expect dramatic gunfights inside stations or strategic-level faction warfare.
Still, it's one of the few space games that clearly stood out among the dozens I've played, and left an itch for more after I blasted through over 140 hours enjoying it!

Would be nice to have more content around station/ground combat.
Saddly i must change my review, because i see that developer lost way. Game still too often when try start game, say some error with netframework. Gameplay is bugy and not much player friendly.
But in general, have a huge potential concept. But it need huge complete revork. Design of ships is nice. A long ago i thinked about something similar game concept that i will make. But without money not have chance. And also i have a loot unfinished interesting game concepts, mostly space strategy with some RPG and other elements.
There's a good chance this is still being developed, but they've made a couple months progress in the years since I bought it. The development is going so slowly it's unlikely they'd reach 1.0 before the end of this century.
