If you have friends that are willing to play for ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles this review has no bearing for you! Conceptually a good game and cool setting, who doesn't love Cold war gone hot! HOWEVER since everything needs to be some linearly balanced nonsense catered to E sporters and streamer softcore tacticians is very hard to play singleplayer without mods that introduce some sorely needed faction based asymmetric balance. Also a personal peeve of mine with Eugen system games that has persisted since Wargame is the sheer gimmicky, just there because an RTS dictates it has to be present nature of infantry, that are beyond useless aside from functioning only as a harassing force in towns or just an excuse to bring more armed and armored META APC's into the field, that granted can also be fixed by already out there mods or by modding yourself. Also Eugene's understanding of the basic structure of say fireteam, squad, platoon and companies of US organization at least are just nonsense again fixable with mods but the number of things that almost require community mods to bring WARNO up to anywhere near authentic and believable standards is VERY annoying

Got it when it was on sale. I'm not really a RTS type dude, though i saw that it was something cold war related and said "why not?".
The overall idea and aesthetic of the Game is very nice and i like it. Though some stuff feel off in the game, for example the voices. I don't really think that the high price point justifies the Quality. I also experienced lag in the game, when going a bit closer into the map. Overall, i find it a good game for someone that enjoys RTS games. I would not advise buying it at it's current price though, and wait till it's on sale.

I really enjoyed the Wargame Red Dragon campaigns for their strategic/tactical depth that I have yet to encounter in another modern war RTS/RTT game. I expected Warno to be the next evolution of that with its Generals campaign.
If you're expecting the campaign/single player to have comparable depth or improve upon Wargame: Red Dragon, you will be sorely disappointed. It lacks in every way imaginable with the only redeeming quality being it can be fought from either NATO or Warsaw pact sides. Choices at the strategic-level are significantly less impactful than in Red Dragon and as a result each match plays like a random skirmish rather than a persistent and evolving battlefield.
There are some QoL improvements that make the game less about micromanagement, but then there are ridiculous things like no "Exit game" option and only "surrender". So you need to leave a match for whatever reason, you have to "surrender" which then the game autosaves over previous saves that as a defeat on a campaign. Then you can exit the campaign. Then you can exit the game.
to all of you that are ready to learn, to thoses who want to triumph trough hardships and are prepared to have a bad start. take it ! one of the most fun games of all time but can only give is fruits if you accept the rough start

A worthy sequel to Red Dragon. The division system, while it has its flaws, provides a good assymetric approach to the previously "general deck" oriented gameplay. (still, i wish for more base game divisions)
Multiplayer is really fun, the singleplayer is excellent, the deck building mechanics are really cool.
The sound effects are IMO the biggest upgrade from RD, as well as the graphics and overall immersion, which is what keeps me playing those 10v10s.
Game is also incredibly stable, well optimized, and very active.

Imagine Total War Shogun 2 Fall of the Samurai but 20 times faster and with no cinematic moments. That's what WARNO feels like.
Seriously, it's just a button mashing game to see who orders a plane and gets to right click on a target faster. Helicopters are made out of cardboard. You're telling me a 5-helicopter assault on a lonely soviet battery fails without even firing a shot at the soviets? And this is not nation-bias, the USSR also suffers, sure you have the state of the art T-90 command tanks but what are they good for when a lonely AT rifleman with some 1960s west german tech cripples your fancy command tank? Oh well, bring in the resupply convoy, that won't get wrecked...
And the AI. Oh dear. This is insufferable. I just want to puke when looking at the loading screens... I just wish I could get a refund... it's worse than Total War 3 Kingdoms with the heroes on... buy literally anything else

Es uno de los mejores juegos de estrategia ambientado en guerra moderna y guerra fria principalmente. Buenos graficos para el 2026. Buen detalle de unidades y una dificultad desafiante. Si ya jugaste Red Dragon o cualquier Wargames este juego deberia estar en tu coleccion. El unico aspecto negativo que las batallas no son tan masivas como los anteriores titulos y que faltan varias unidades en comparacion con los anteriores pero igualmente es muy variado la cantidad de unidades de WARNO.
Honestly, for a "within the last half-century time period" RTS/RTT, nothing still beats Eugen unfortunately, despite challengers. This game isn't the best, but functionally, there isn't much better. IF someone comes along and releases better, then get that instead, but for now, this is the game you compare everything in its niche to.

很好的游戏，如果不是像我一样有收藏癖好就是光光用白板也是有不少强势师的。门槛略高，比较硬核，我也是大概花了25小时之后才渐渐能驾驭困难难度的ai，不过对于冷战爱好者是不得不品的一环，比前作红龙更容易上手。
另外希望以后欧根能官方做一下中国阵营。实在是很好奇1989年刚刚经历过64事件那种动荡局面的解放军到底有多强的战斗力。

It takes the Engine and systems from Steel Division 2 & the most popular setting The ColdWar (obviously).
hope we see more new mechanics like sling loading of light vehicles and howitzers to make Airborn more viable and less attack heli dependent.
Maybe some engineering vehicles would be nice example pontoon bridges, mine clearing vehicles, digging in with blades and inf. etc etc...
Maybe some tactical / small strategic bombers would be nice like FB111A probably not anything too much bigger than the UK Vulcan.

I enjoy this game for large scale modern warfare gameplay. This game is one of the best out there covering this genra.

one of the greatest military MMO RTS games I have played. Great graphics and gameplay is smooth and stable I cannot recommend this game enough for how much enjoyment I have got out of it. The campaigns are great fun with friends each with their own feel lore and game play. To anyone looking to get in to RTS this is a great standard with lots of situations limmited to cold war arsenals inside of germany, more maps that you can shake a stick at and a boatload of enjoyable dlcs for even more added fun.

WARNO is a great RTS for fans of tactics and military strategy. The game offers realistic Cold War battles, a large variety of units, and maps that truly require planning and strategic thinking. Every battle can play out differently, and using infantry, tanks, or air support effectively feels very satisfying.
On top of that, the visuals are solid and the multiplayer is very engaging. If you enjoy challenging strategy games and the NATO vs Warsaw Pact setting, it’s definitely worth trying.
The game does an excellent job capturing the scale and tension of a NATO vs Warsaw Pact conflict where positioning, reconnaissance, and timing matter far more than simply spamming units. Every battle feels like a carefully planned military operation rather than a chaotic click-fest. The unit variety is excellent, with detailed vehicles, infantry, and aircraft that all have specific roles, making deck building and battlefield decisions incredibly rewarding. Visually, the game also looks fantastic for an RTS, with large battles, explosions, and terrain that really sell the feeling of commanding a Cold War battlefield. The pacing strikes a great balance between accessibility and tactical depth. It’s easy to learn the basics, but mastering it takes time, planning, and smart decision-making. Games like this reward patience and strategy, which makes every victory feel earned. Eugen systems have never let me down on their strategy titles.

I use artillery, the enemy counter batteries me. I use air, enemy uses SAM. I spam infantry, they cannot afford tanks. Great success!

I've been a fan of Steel Division 2 for some time and was happy to finally pick up this successor. One of the first things WARNO presented to me was a series of AI generated loading screens. I can't endorse a game that uses generative AI as a replacement to creativity, simply because of the implications this has. Games using generative AI contribute to setting a new standard in which artwork and artists are increasingly replaced to cut costs and to save time.
With generative AI artists are not only replaced, but also plagiarised. It makes you wonder why anyone who is working within a creative industry would choose to contribute to hollowing out said industry. Finally, whether it's out of bad faith or not, it is a gross oversight that this Steam page doesn't include a disclosure about AI generated content. It's the least you can do imo.
I hope Eugen Systems reconsiders their use of generative AI. I would then gladly return to give WARNO a proper chance. For now, I'm happy to take the refund.

Perfect game for a Military fanatics. Scale is similar to moder conflit and show scale of casulties. Realism and balance are well thought out. Divisions have unique unit, they might be OP but there is plenty way to counter them. Perfect game to simulate modern Conflit

Les débuts ont été difficiles. Peu de contenu, early access un peu décevant, mais on sentait le potentiel.
Il y a eu des periodes où l'équilibrage était aux fraises (mention spéciale pour le moment où il était impossible de passer le tutoriel sans tricher car des unités ennemies étaient trop fortes en forêt, sympa pour les nouveaux joueurs).
Mais depuis une grosse année, le jeu est sur des rails, tout est nickel, le multi est super, des nouveautés arrivent régulièrement. Un très digne successeur à la série des wargames.

Best RTS on the market right now. As a singleplayer enjoyer, the Army Generals are very intensive and the good storyline keeps it engaging. The Operations and Skirmish give you the option for smaller less time consuming play sessions. Overall great balance between nations. Highly recommend.
Gros fan de la franchise Wargame, j'ai tout de même attendu qu'il y est assez de contenu pour le prendre. Au final je ne suis pas déçu. Le jeu est au top et n'écoutez pas les pleureuses, oui il y a des DLC mais qui rajoutent du vraie contenu et 4€ le DLC si t'as pas les moyen retourne bosser au lieu de jouer.
Ive thought about getting this game so many times. This week I spent hours watching youtube videos and reading reddit posts to see if this game was worth it. I was bored today and made the plunge and spent almost 4 hours tonight doing all the tutorials and playing a few skirmishes. I still have no idea how to really play effectively but if i didnt have to work in the morning I wouldve played all night. I cannot believe I waited so long to even try this.
If youre like me, googling this vs broken arrow, is warno worth it, how much sp content in warno, etc. Stop and just buy the game. Do the tutorials and the UI instantly makes sense and actually is super intuitive. Did two skirmishes, one v one and 4 v 4 all ai and already having a blast. I could see this being a game I actually play multiplayer too.
My only forewarning is to change the game setting for sticky units.
Disapointing, I has hoge hope for this game. When I play it feels weird in UX/UI, the graphic and movement of the unit feels like they glide through. The vehicle just drove through walls and trees. Compared to Men of war for example when you play Men of War it feel so much better and natural and dont felt everything is fast when you play compared to this. This looks good when you look at the game, trailer and map but when you play it felt leek cheap games even I can se a lot of work puted in all unit, vihacles, plans and tanks but the gameplay... no good, not fun really need improvement.
If DEV reading this look at how (Tom Clancy END WARS, Men of war, SteelDivitions) gameplay are, specialy END WARS becouse its look more like this.
Excellent jeu dans la lignée des Steel Division et Wargame , une pépite ! et des mods ajoutent moulte unités notamment le Leclerc Français manquant à l'appel car le jeu est centré sur 1989 il me semble , les campagne solos sont sympathiques , l'arsenal est détaillé , les graphisme sont vraiment jolis , notamment les villes et les véhicules .

Ein reifes, sehr schönes Taktik- und Strategiespiel, welches nichts offen lässt. Immersiv und auch grafisch sehr schön. Meine RTX 5060 ASUS OC White Edition meistert das Spiel auf den höchsten Einstellungen. Es macht bei der Grafik einen riesen Spass und mit meinem 12600K I5 und den 32GB DDR4 Ram habe ich hinsichtlich der Performance nur GENUSSmomente. Ein aktuelles und sehr gutes Strategie und Taktikspiel...Man muss sich allerdings einarbeiten..."Click and win" IST NICHT!

You guys have written the laziest AI to play against. Instead of actual tactics, they ONLY REACT to your INPUT. It's actually more impressive to fight AI on lower difficulty, because they actually have autonomy to make tactical decisions, than just disabling the fog of war for the AI and instantly transmitting your keyboard input for instinctive reaction even when your units have not been scouted (zero tactical knowledge, or strategy involved).
You can test this yourself. Put on any difficulty higher than rookie. Send scout to reveal location of enemy. Make sure to not have used artillery until you scout the enemy. Deploy fresh arty pieces. Launch a volley directly at their location. Then watch the enemy decide to "coincidentally" move locations. Then keep doing this and watch them continue to move until you stop targeting them.
Directly feeding the player's input data to opposing AI in order to instantly react, not in a strategical or tactical manner, but instinctively react to your targeting and movement is not innovative AI, it's lazy.
Too bad there is literally no other game that feels good enough to be an actual modern battle RTS. Make the pacific theater please. 10/10 would play again (despite AI).

TL;DR: don't buy it, it's a confusing mess full of AI slop.
The campaign modes are ridiculously complicated, confusing, and are poorly explained. I couldn't even figure out what I was supposed to be doing or how, other than "stop the enemy from taking this town.
The AI generated assets are gross to look at. It's so cheap and lazy, it makes me not want to bother. I also find it ironic that being "realistic" is one of the selling points of this game, but the AI instead makes it all feel more fake.
The actual battles are okay. They look cool on the surface level, but feel rather unbalanced. Infantry feel irrelevant compared to last game, while heavy tanks and ATGMs dominate the game by a huge margin.
The controls are very bizarre and hard to learn. There are so many mechanics you need to know.
Ultimately this game left me feeling like I got ripped off. Honestly, shame on me for buying it in early access. I should have known better. Do not buy.
Awaiting refund after only completing the tutorial. The RTS gameplay is World in Conflict but worse and not much better looking, the grand strategy is Advance Wars, and you shouldn't have tried to get a machine to pronounce the word "morale."
Realized right near the end that a machine was delivering to me a very dry script, paying a great deal of "Great job, you're the best" compliments, and mispronouncing words. That led to pondering just how much of the art was generated, and once again confronted with the fact that people even have to ponder this right out of the box. Then I realize that the low quality the assets are on what are displayed on "insane" settings when I thought it'd been auto detected to low. I realize how unresponsive units are. I realize how barebones and cruddy the UI is. Then I look at my play time. I realize that I've been had.
To fully comprehend the controls of what is actually a very simple tactical RTS, it takes a carefully measured time investment of just two hours to complete said tutorial, using about 20 missions to perform each individual task such as movement and attacking, each with their own loading screen and lengthy voice lines without substance. It easily could have been one seamless, 20 minute tutorial, utilizing all combined arms in a controlled setting, but that wouldn't pad out the timing. This is cut cost shovelware and it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
On top of having carelessly agreed to some company I've never heard of's EULA and had their account registry system shoved in my face (which I ignored only to play the tutorial,) I somewhat doubt I'm getting that refund at all. Whoops, my bad, but here we are. No disclaimer on the store page for whether robots were used to sell a boatload of DLC. Sorry for being such a misinformed consumer, it's all my fault. Don't laugh at me, I'll ♥♥♥.
Just wondering if anyone is getting an uptick of spam calls after buying this. Don't forget to buy all the DLC, it's got the devs heart and soul in it, I'm sure.

New version corrupted my multiplayer campaign progress.
Начал играть в свою первую миссию за СССР. Прошел половину миссии, окружил этих натовцев и игра вылетела. Зашел обратно, сделал то же самое и игра опять вылетела. И так примерно пять раз. Даже проверка целостности файлов не помогла, все равно вылетает. Я так понял натовцы и здесь не хотят проигрывать.
Игра конечно увлекательная, но с такими вылетами из игры становится менее привлекательной. Разработчики позаботьтесь об этом.

只能说期望很大，但是有点失望
先说好，红龙1kh玩家，1010玩炮的蛆一条。
我对warno的感觉类似于红龙的战术局，只不过warno有ai帮你自动打炮。但是这个ai帮助让我的操作感觉有点说不上的怪，[spoiler] 有种用假几把抽查斐济杯的美 [/spoiler]，属于我现在玩不明白的。
其次，战斗节奏也跟红龙有差别，尤其是绞肉，以往红龙绞肉就是各家特战大战冲击步和利剑90，现在是我根本不知道哪些步兵可以用来林战绞肉哪些可以用来冲房区，唯一的好消息是房区可以被炸平。[spoiler] 红龙做得到吗 [/spoiler]
其他倒没有什么特别怪的。说实话我还挺喜欢侦察小飞机。

WARNO is easily one of my favourite RTS', I enjoy the best elements of Wargame and Steel Division being combined. PVP is solid, It can go one of two ways where you have a great game with some solid people. Or it's hell and you just wanna watch a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Czech New Wave film in the background. PVE is always fun, there's a learning curve but once you get it you think like your own Fulda Gap will collapse.
I do recommend this game whenever it's on sale as it's a fun RTS, the gameplay is fu, and especially with friends, though the saying can be true of any game.
The reason I don't recommend the game is the rampant use of AI for their portraits in the campaigns or loading screens. Pay a real person to do the art who will give you a much better, stylized product. Or if you're a human being, it gives jobs to real people. But yeah, the games fun, you should get it on sale but don't pay full price, especially when they can use real artist.
Support your local fetish artist and stop AI.

It is a good game which takes the best of Red Dragon and Steel division and combines it all.
The issue is the time between updates causing playerbase crashes as well as the quality of life promises and major gameplay changes and mechanics which were forgotten and shelved.
Greater transparency is needed from the devs for accurate timelines if theyre going to be charging money for these DLC and want the playerbase to care.
is it a good game? Its decent, the formula is there, its just still barebones and needs a better defined update schedule to fully get there.
Also they butchered the army general with no way to actually replenish divisions so I dont bother when the AI just hacks out 100 T55 which auto pen my Abrams.
Игра хорошая, но прекрасная механика, когда у вас стоят юниты друг напротив друга, с полным бк и не стреляют)))) точно также и с ПВО
довго треба вчитись , підгорає частенько, але цікава) шкода що новачків мало на теперішній час, доводиться грати проти олдів.

game is good but dont stop crashes since january of this year i got it for xmass since last update almost impossible to play games closes randomly maybe at the deploy phase or just clicking in a unit , will change review once is fixed cause i been more time trying to play that actually playing is sad
Mods make games like this very exciting to play/watch unfold
van alle spellen die ik heb is deze wel het meest intressant hier is allemaal verschillend spul elke keer te doen maar als je een grote potermenee hebt zal ik voor broken arrow gaan maar tja hier moet ik nog even mee doen
The line of sight and stealth mechanics in this game make no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sense. The amount of times I've had an enemy ATGM fly THROUGH multiple buildings or tree lines and snipe my tanks and logistics makes me genuinely want to pull my hair out. I'm ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ over it.

just download the mods if the game is boring
Great value, gives a perspective on current events, very enjoyable emergent gameplay stories, fun campaigns. You should be a military fan to play this game but you will love it. Great sound effects too.
Multiplayer is for try-hards obviously, but you can have casual fun in 10vs10 great battles.
Coop campaign 2v2 is a whole other level of experience, I'd say buy even base game with 3 friends and fry campaigning. It is something else entirely.
10/10, great game.
Heavy use of generative ai art assets and ai voice work mars an otherwise good game. The failure to disclose their use of ai feels like a violation of steam policy.
A bit tricky at first but you quickly get a hang of it, its great fun, in all modes. Enjoy
I like this game alot, came from Steel Division 2 which I enjoyed but didn't love. I love this game.
空军cas机太蠢了，必须得有情报点亮才能进攻，鬼怪和MIG23这种超音速也就不说什么了，A10和SU25那种速度的攻击机就不能自己点亮附近的敌军？
还有北约那小牛，更是重量级。对面坦克排排站，一口气全打出去很难吗？非要转一圈打一发，搞笑呢？
