Cool concept, but its complete and utter garbage. It's all smoke and mirrors. Just a horrible game once you learn more and experience mid to late campaign. The devs either hate gamers, or are too lazy to actually make the game they claim it to be. Its all RNG crap that doesn't work well. It will take a few hours to realize how bad it is, so I recommend not falling into that trap and just avoiding the game entirely.

I really, really want to love this game. For it's concept, there is almost nothing like it, simulating the pacific war on a grand scale, while also being able to go straight into the fight is amazing. But it just doesn't work. Minor bugs stack up on top of each other just to make the game unplayable.

I started a Japanese campaign, and prepared for the strike on pearl harbor. First Bug: I can only reach the port a month late. So on Jan 20th 1942 i prepare my strike. It's a bit finicky, but launching all your planes and assembling an airgroup is fine. I send all my planes to pearl. The american fleet is outside the port, a bit odd, but i press on. Unfortunately, my different torpedo bomber and bomber airgroups are seperated, so on my first attack i fail to sink anything meaningful with just zeros and kates. I restart, i get all my airgroups together, then i suddenly look and half off my planes air flying back to the carrier when i assemble the attack. restart again, and manage to coordinate as best as i can, and even so, torpedoes regularly go through ships, and many dive bombers miss. Planes take off from the carrier fleets sitting just outside pearl, and they destroy most of my force. In the end it just became incredibly frustrating, and i realised that sitting through a whole campaign of this would be way too painful.

I don't really know how to fix this game, as it requires bugfixing of a lot of minor bugs, and finicky tweaking.

multiple times during the tutorial i was unable to select fleets or issue orders so i got hard locked out of progressing until the 8th try and was able to complete the tutorial. also noticed some ships have around a .25% chance of hitting their targets so i lost whole carrier and battleship fleets to 2 destroyers. also observed aircraft attacking empty spots of water near enemy fleets, but not the enemies themselves. overall, id recommend playing something else until these core mechanics are fixed

I'll be honest, If i could give a thumbs neutral I would. Gameplay is quite good, if you like a big picture Naval RTS, its right up your alley. Ships look good, there's a decent amount of strategy involved. That being said, good lord is it buggy, apparently dev-support is nonexistant anymore, so theres no hope of some of these bugs being fixed, and you'll have to learn to live with them. My adivce? get it on sale, and give it a try!

Számomra a játék eléggé tetszett, bár ez nagyrészt a hajók iránti csodálatom miatt lehet. XD A játékot leginkább azoknak tudom javasolni, akik szeretnék a monitoron keresztül átélni a csendes-óceáni hadszíntér könyörtelen és veszélyes csatáit. Számomra az USA-kampány nagyon nagy élményt nyújtott. A japán kampánnyal is játszottam, de az sajnos nem lett túlságosan nehézre „difficultra” megcsinálva, ha összehasonlítom az USA-kampánnyal. Ezen a kis problémán kívül szerintem teljesen jó játék.

I would recommend this game, with cautions and work-arounds.

--Game is still under development and bug reports are worked on.

--How to get around current bugs (for my i9/Win11/Nvidia build) Can't comment on performance with other systems.

1. Don't undock a ship with scout float plans, allow them to launch, and then quickly dock again. Might lose all your ships.

2. Don't allow a carrier to die if part of a larger fleet. Will lose access to the rest of your ships in the fleet.

3. Give up on launching planes from the combat view and directing them to attack individual enemy ships. Does work well for launching fighters to protect a ship, though. Use the large map and launch attack planes to attack the greater enemy fleet. Works this way, but you can't choose what ships will be attacked.

Overall, attacks from the large map work pretty well. I see the crazy plane behavior starting when trying to give orders from the combat view. The good news is that ship captains are much smarter than plane pilots (obviously) since ships will obey your commands very well from the combat view.

Very disappointing. The whole concept of the game is wrong. I was expecting a game to re-fight the War in the Pacific and have battles based on the Great naval battles of WW2: Coral Sea, midway, Santa Cruz, Eastern Solomons, Naval Battles of Guadalcana, Battle of the Phillipine Sea, Battle of Leyte Gulf, etc. I wanted the actual orders of battle and task groups that participated. I wanted My fleets to have Commanders based on the Historical ones, Halsey, Fletcher, Nagumo, Kondo, Spruance, Kincaid, Ozawa, and many others. This game has NONE OF THAT. the first battle of the campaign is a fictitious Hawaii scenario, with battleships Pennsylvania and maryland and supporting ships, patrolling around waiting for the Japanese, WHAT THE HECK IS THIS? Total immersion killer for me, I cant even get into the surface Ship combat and aircraft searches and carrier engagements, my verve for the game is already dead. Also you use "war bonds" to buy ships and planes and war material and you get these war bonds by capturing enemy ports and so on .. WTF??? Thats not how countries Industrial and economic power work. I dont want an alternate universe game I want a historical one. At least i got this game and a big discount, i will uninstall and for get it, theres other games they have what i am looking for like "War at Sea" , "Fleet commander Pacific" and "Carrier Battles 4 Guadalcanal. Also the coming Task Force Commander Game by Microprose looks like it will blow this out of the water.

Great game.

Really what I wish War on Sea was.. that game looks nice but this game IS great. Playtime is so much more than 12 hours, not sure what's up with that.. maybe offline play.

At at least 150 ish lol

It may be worth keeping in mind that.. I'm partial to buggy-flawed messes. This is somewhat one of those.

I love the realism of this game for logistics and having control of those fleets having to build the ships along with maintaining warships and carriers. i wish this game got a little more addition for updates on fixes for the game it is clunky but there's ways around that. Overall this game has lots of potential its fun and challenging all in real time not turn based.

I think this game is really cool. If you are a history buff, you like RTS games, you like naval and carrier warfare, this is the game for you. Not sure why there is so many thumbs down, I don't think this game deserves it. The graphics are good, game play is good, not many buggy things as far as I can see. I didn't play the original Victory at Sea, but based on what I saw in the trailers, this game is better. The combat and RTS battle space has more depth, better graphics and better mechanics than the first game. Again, if you are interested in WWII history, RTS games and good game play, this is for you. Great game in my opinion, very entertaining.

This is a great game, I can watch tv and let it run,checking on it once in a while and making adjustments or I can speed it up and pay close attention the whole time to the entire pacific theater with lots and lots of ship, submarines and aircraft as well as all kinds of ports from minor to major. It fits how I want to play today instead of like other games forcing me to drop everything and pay exclusive attention to them. This is a must buy!

Another game that is just perplexing as to why they changed their formula. After spending _alot_ of hours in the original Victory At Sea, I was expecting a more interesting look at the Pacific theatre. Oh boy was I wrong.

This game is nothing short of a hot mess. I only played it for a short time, but I wont be back. So disappointing. What happened? The UI is just plain bad. The controls and management are.. well.. what are they? Just poor. Have they played any mil strat games before? Its really odd.

I cant recommend this game at all. Looks like I will just stick with playing the original.

I eventually fell in love with this game. Truly epic in what they delivered. Its grand strategy, logistics, tactical battle and the tactical visuals are great i.e. dive bombers actually dive bombing. Loved every part of it in the end. A little hard to learn the campaign at the start so I suggest playing a few in custom battles first. When you come to the end of first first campaign you will see carrier battles of 10 vs 10 and its just awesome. Addictive!!!

overall seems kinda fun, been wanting a game that has the entire pacific campaign. so i started playing. it's not super in depth, but overall it's fun, until you've sunk your 10th japanese carrier, and there's still somehow two fleets with 4 carriers, 2 battleships, 3 cruisers and 18 destroyers, one at midway and one at makin atoll. playing on normal difficutly, and apparently the japanese invented the 3d printer in 1942 and can ♥♥♥♥ out carriers left and right because they have seemingly infinite ships despite already sinking 10 fleet carriers.

After completing my first play through, I feel compelled to leave a review for this game.

First I should put a few things that are important to me in a game...
#1 Has to be fun.
#2 I like a challenge but I don't enjoy hardcore. I don't mind failing and having to try again with a different strategy but after about 3 or 4 failures, #1 is no longer true.
#3 I like some depth and a little complexity is okay. But if the game is too complex or requires too much micro management, #1 is no longer true.

I have many games in my library that do not meet these three criteria and therefore are just sitting in my library with very little time spent playing.

This game meets all this criteria. I thoroughly enjoy playing this game. It is fun. I have enjoyed this more than any other game I have played recently, It wasn't difficult to learn and it was challenging at times but not overwhelming.

I read many of the reviews that point out a lot of bugs with the game. Although I do understand the aspects this is referring to, I didn't really view any of the strange behavior as bugs and I never really had anything that I could point to as being a bug. There are times that your planes don't exactly follow the orders you are directing them to do. I just viewed that as operational mistakes. There could be many reasons pilots don't succeed in the mission assigned. It wouldn't be realistic for every plane to do every mission perfectly.

So is it buggy? I don't know. I just chose to think of it as realistically imperfect.

I recommend the game based on my experience but it's true that what makes a "fun" game is not the same for every individual.

I really enjoy playing this game and it really brings home just how vast the Pacific is. There's nothing like the feeling of hopelessness you suffer when you're sitting at Midway with your fleet and the Japanese are invading the Aleutian Islands, knowing there's bugger all you can do about it.

There's a fairly steep learning curve, but if you follow the tutorial, and watch a couple of YouTube videos you soon get the hang of it. The UI is actually quite good considering the amount of information the game throws at you.

So far, after 40 or so hours, I've only had one serious issue where the game froze and even reloading the save did not fix it. Luckily I wasn't too far into the campaign.

Once I've finished with the Pacific I'll probably end up buying their newer Atlantic version of the game.

This game is great fun if you like fleet management and blowing up ships with overwhelming firepower.

There is still some bugs, sometimes the AI will start acting crazy, or you will see ships disappear from existence, but I didn't found real game breaking issues for now, most of the time relaunching the game fix it, sometime you have to play a bit with the fleet merger or squadron control tu resolve the issue. For what I understand the devs fixed most of the worst issues overtime. If you can take some time to understand why things don't work the way you expected (and learn to work around the rough patches) you get a real solid WW2 fleet-fighting game.

Also there's an option to create your own "modding files" in the main menu. You can switch up most game variable, ship and airplane stats, campaign starting ports, ressources production, shell performance, etc ... you get the gist. So if you find some balancing issues that make the experience worse for you can always tweak things to your taste.

TlDR : It's a strong strategy game with buggs, so maybe wait for sales to get it ? Anyway I still recommend it warmly.

There is definitely some jank here, but if you can get past it, there's a fun (if slightly repetitive) grand strategy/naval combat game here. Having played the first Victory at Sea game, I feel like this does improve upon it in many ways: the combat is better, there are additional mechanics and options for issuing commands to your fleets, and the new supply chain forced me to choose each target with more thoughtfulness than I ever did in the previous title. I also like the endgame, where as the U.S. you can choose to follow history (by dropping the bombs), or attempt to invade Japan directly.

Lastly, I appreciate that the developer is supporting the game with regular updates, even as they gear up for the release of their next iteration.

玩了近200小时，BUG实在是太多了，最让人无法接受的就是1.卡档和2.港口占领问题，像3.飞机在机场上盘旋无法降落都不算什么了，这种一般重新加载就能解决。先说说卡档，更新到最新的1.14.2版本后，这个问题得到有效的缓解，重新开档后玩到目前都还未出现过。建议更新版本后重新开档玩，旧档依然是卡档严重，果断放弃旧档吧！接下来就是港口占领问题，经常会出现的就是1.占领港口后造不了自家的飞机，显示的还是原来阵营的飞机，实际上也造不了对方的飞机，出现这种情况，这个港口也就基本报废了。2.还有一种情况就是港口是占领了，但是登陆船一直留在港口打转转，港口内飞机界面的飞机不见了，等于造不了飞机了。3.还有一种就是明明已经完全占领了港口，却莫明其妙的出现战斗的那个图标。以上问题经过多次读档测试，发现一个规律，只要占领港口不是按照：侦察70%以上--突袭100%--最膈占领这个步骤，那大概要出现问题。比如，派舰队不经过侦察直接突袭100%再占领，就很容易出现第1种情况。如果是直接突袭再侦察再占领，就容易出现第2种情况。如果是先侦察，但是突袭没有达到100%就占领，很容易出现第1加第3种情况，反正就是占领港口必须老老实实按照侦察突袭占领的顺序来，否则就容易出问题。希望下个版本官方能修复这些问题，否则太影响游戏体验了。

I'm usually a big enthusiast for these sort of games but this one is just not very good. It's ugly to look at and the animations and UI are janky. Even though I got this very cheap on sale, I still refunded it. The core concept is great but the execution is that of a mobile game. If you're unsure whether to buy this or not, simply don't and wait for a better game of the same genre.

Zajímavá a zábavná grand strategie z mého oblíbeného bojiště v Pacifiku.Uvítal bych sice více detailů a zprávy, třeba jako v Pacific Storm, ale i tak je hra velmi zábavná a dokáže vás vtáhnout. Grafika je celkem povedená, detaily lodí a letadel by ale mohly být o dost lepší. I tak má vizuál docela kouzlo.
Vyhovuje mi, že hra může běžet v pomalém tempu na pozadí a pokud se ve hře něco děje, hra se sama zapauzuje. Lze tak vést svou válku i z "kanceláře" :)
Nějaké chyby a nedostatky by se našly, ale pozitivní je, že vývojáři na hře opět pracují, a souběžně s chystanou hrou z Atlantiku, opravují i tuto hru.

Bought it at sale, played for 44 hours.
Wow what a fantastic game, sale not withstanding.
Played US campaign and was very engaging....wife remarked why am I so addicted. Overall very enjoyable. 9/10

Pros:
-You feel like Supreme commander of the US forces Pacific, deciding which enemy bases to scout and attack. There are suggested ports to take along the story line, but you have free rein in general and don't need to follow.
-Not too much micromanaging needed
- While AI when microing combat can be clumsy, it is beautiful when you see it work- bombs destroying the deck of a carrier, torpedo spread hitting a battleship
-Finished the game in 1943 after dropping nukes

Cons
-AI can be frustrating per other reviews, I guess to a certain degree it simulates real life battle conditions- not every bomb is going to hit
-raids and amphibious assaults on ports / over land are kind of oversimplified
-Cities like Hiroshima and Nagasaki cannot be seen- you only see the airfield and port, guns etc....big cities like these will have multiple airfields so as said is oversimplified
- I was easily able to take Iwo Jima and Okinawa, after disabling the port guns with air strikes and destroying all other facilities. Amphibious landings were unopposed, which was not how it went in history

it took playing as the royal navy to beat the Japanese. It took till 1946, almost 1947 to end the war.

The same tactics that I tried using as the USN magically worked as the RN. Never mind that to liberate Darwin the liberation of the dutch east indies and timor came first

i was only able to beat back the IJN with some creative mods that allowed me to build ships instantly and not worry about supplies.

The AI is useless as an Ally. THE ROYAL NAVY HAD TO LIBERATE HAWAII. I wanted to give this game a good shot but my god it was a struggle to finish.

i hope the devs fix some of the major issues that this game has since it is the closest thing to battle stations pacific that we have left

◆総評
結論から言うと、やはりおススメは出来ない。
他のレビューにある様な酷いバグは出くわさなかったものの、そもそもゲームとしてあまり面白くない上に、UIやAIの酷さは前作以下で90～00年代のゲームを思い出させるレベル。
"なんでも出来る様にしたら何をやってもイマイチ面白くなく、しかもそれを管理できないAIしか作れませんでした"そんなゲームだ。

上は太平洋全域の艦隊・補給艦の建造から、下は艦毎のマイクロマネジメントまで可能…と言えば聞こえは良いが、実際太平洋戦争の全てを任されている身で港に浮いてる魚雷艇のメシにいちいち口出しするのが面白いとは思えない。開発陣の中ににドーソン大将が居るのだろうが、「そんなもん各艦隊指揮官の宜しいようにやっとけ！」としか思えないのだ。
だがここで問題がある。このゲーム、"艦隊指揮官"に該当するAIがアホなのである。

◆AI
このゲーム最大の問題点はAIのアホさで間違いない。ここで言う"アホさ"とは突飛な行動をする事ではなく、逆に指示を出さなければ何もしない事だ。なにせ指示待ち状態だと偵察機すら飛ばさず、敵海域のど真ん中で敵艦を発見したとしても攻撃指示を出さなければ機動艦隊がただ浮かんでいる状態になるのだ。
前作の様に１艦隊指揮官ならば艦隊行動や空母航空団へ指示を出すのは自分の仕事だ。それも良いだろう。だが今作は太平洋中の艦隊・基地航空隊・補給艦隊・本国の建造計画が自分の指揮下なのだ。こんな指示待ち人間しか居ない職場は辟易するだろう。
更に頭の痛い点は攻撃指示を出したとしても、このゲームのAIどうも"戦闘の手を抜く"傾向にあるのだ。艦載機の大半を空母上で遊ばせて戦闘を長引かせ、その隙に前衛艦隊が空襲を受けたりと、個艦に指示を出さなければ100％の戦闘能力を発揮しないのである。(なお個別に指示を出したからと言って聞くとは限らない)

◆ゲームバランス
艦載機ゲーなのは前作もそうだったし実際そうなのだから仕方ないにしても、今作ではそもそも戦闘画面に入らなくても艦載機を飛ばせるようになった為、空母を集中運用すれば「地図上に表示される敵艦隊→攻撃指示→地図上で殺到する艦載機の群れ→敵艦隊消滅」だけで大半の戦闘は終わる。本当に艦隊の戦力が拮抗しており、なおかつ艦載機が壊滅しても退却せず砲戦に突入しなければならない時のみ戦闘画面に移行するが、大半のプレイ時間は怠いゲームとなってしまった…

◆まとめ
上で述べた問題点全てにクソみたいなUIがデバフとして加わる為、戦略部分だけ見るなら超簡略化されてるHOIの海戦の方が面白いレベル。戦術部分なら前作の方が面白い。…と、今作を買う意味がまるで見いだせなかった。
面白さに全く寄与しない複雑さや煩雑さばかり付け加えて、ユーザーをサポートする為のUIやAI開発を疎かにしてしまったゲームの末路としか言いようがない。最早アプデで直る範囲を超えているのは間違いなく、今作の存在は忘れた方が良いでしょう。
まだ未プレイなら前作をおススメします。

Overall an excellent game.
I have now played through the US Campaign both on medium and on hard difficulty and I found both pretty enjoyable. However, it took me like four failed attemps at the campaign to get a basic understanding of the mechanics. It took a few more attemps to come up with a functioning strategy. Although I have to mention that this game is the first naval strategy game I have played, so you might find yourself not taking so long. But once you have both a basic understanding of the mechanics and a strategy medium difficulty is basically childsplay. Nevertheless, it still was a lot of fun and the end of the campaign was so perfectly round that it gave me goosebumps. After a high of several hours, I thought: "This wasn't that bad", so I decided to try the same campaign with the same strtegy on hard mode and nothing in this world could have prepared me for the *sswhopping I was about to recieve next. I literally lost half my carriers in 2 months and after two more months of getting my behind kicked around by the AI, Pearl fell and I had to start again. It took a few more tries, but I finally came up with a strategy that worked, but even then the first one and a half years of the campaign were an absolute slugfest and I loved it. Although I found myself calling bullsh*t on more than one occasion. Especially during the first Japanese Counteroffensive, when, 3 months after loosing 8 carriers in the initial stage of the war, they pulled up with 12 more carriers and it got really close.
All in all the difficulty scaling is really well done and I had a lot of fun each time.

i've had the game now for a month and it ran pretty well. But, today it crashed once, and then the next two times it runs very slowly with pauses. I am not sure if its the game, steam or that I got on very early today. Also, a bug I found is in the deployment of the Spotter Catalina's Sometimes they go on and on and run out of gas. I am overall very pleased with the game.....

This game has a great concept and is not overwhelming like other grand strategy games, but it has a few issues. The aircraft are a little buggy at times, and large groups of them will freeze up the game. The game is also a little repetitive but such is the nature of war. Give this game a try if you like WW2 Naval combat.

Great hidden gem! Somewhat quirky and a little buggy here and there but very enjoyable once you get used to it.
Plays like a strategy game released 10-15 years ago in all the right places with none of the fluff of modern games.

Can very much recomend if you like older style strategy games.

I really enjoyed the first game, Victory at Sea - fully beat it. It had its rough moments, and was thinking maybe they'd improve on those with their follow-up.

This game, however, just fails to hit the mark across the board. I was nervous going in reading the reviews, but I gave it an honest effort; hoping that the more I played, maybe the more I'd get to see ANYTHING that would make it enjoyable and it just didn't happen.

Can't recommend this one.

Spiele den ersten Teil immer wieder mal gerne, auch zwischendurch.
Von Victory At Sea Pacific bin ich aber enttäuscht. Es ist langahtmig in das Spiel rein zu kommen. Fühle mich von dem Spiel schlicht weg überfordert. Graphik ist klasse, aber den ganzen Pacific War gefühlt alleine zu managen, nein danke.
KI hat mich leider auch nicht überzeugt, die kann man nicht allein lassen! Mehr Gameplay wäre schön gewesen.
Beim Vorgänger hat man sich um seine kleine Handverlesene Flotte gekümmert und dann Seeschlachten geführt.
Das ist möglicher weise nicht so nah an der Realität, aber gut für die Übersicht und den Spielfluss.
Der Nachfolger fühlt sich an wie eine Hardcore Simulation. Es nimmt mich nicht an der Hand. Viel Managment, wenig Spielspass!

Playing for hours, and then the game won't save. Apparently, the complexity of the game leads to some kind of issue where early in the campaign saving isn't an issue, but as you have more units, convoys, etc. the game gets glitchy. And then stops autosaving and when you try to save manually, it just hangs up.

So, if you can't actually finish, why start?

Definitely not worth 40 bucks and unfortunately I can't get a refund. The models are...lackluster and I am probably just bad, but I can't seem to be able to sink anything, whilst my planes get shot down in droves. Maybe if I put more hours in, but I really don't want to because you sit around for awhile waiting for your fleets to be in position.

The game so far is absolutely awesome and stunning for anybody who even has the slightest intrest in naval combat. It is a little glitchy at times, yes. But if you can get over the ocasional crash that happens like once every 5 to 6 hours of playing than it is absolutely a great game! the controls can be a little complicated for someone who is new to these games, but it's certainly worth it!

非常推荐！这就是一个非二次元版的舰队collection。圆了我的提督梦。至少我个人认为目前是最适合我的海战了。

原版游戏该有的东西基本也都有了,有战争期间的几个主要机型。而且也都算比较符合史实,没啥太离大谱的。我是由枪版转正的,明显能感觉到已经修了不少bug了。包括以前派出去的直掩机不能攻击敌人轰炸机等直接影响游戏体验的bug。而且mod制作有中文说明,自己可以随手做个mod玩。

现在原版游戏的缺限个人感觉还是在于模型。船的模型虽然简陋且缺少细节,但时间长了还是比较耐看的。像黎塞留的模型啥的感觉做得也不错。问题在于飞机的模型。ijn的飞机模型很多可以说是根本就不对。难以想象一个连固定起落架都没有的东西竟然可以叫九九舰爆。而且ijn的特殊玩法还是比较少。航巡航战肯定没有,瑞云晴岚一类的水爆,彩云舰侦还有紫云什么的更是想都不用想。

但是上述问题大部分可以通过打mod解决。推荐国外大神的真实mod：SpecTRe's Improved Realism

GARBAGE GAME DO NOT BUY

This game is an absolute mess, here is why:
Visuals are terrible, everything has zero detail, minimal effort put into any of the assets. Ships have the absolute bare bones of detail, and forget about zooming in on the water or any sort of natural terrain.

Sound design, sucks. Every gun sounds the same, doesnt matter if its an american 5-inch mk35, or a 16 inch, or shore batteries. Its all the same. Anti-Aircraft is worse, it stutters and doesnt match the weapons being fired, and the sound is the same regardless of how many guns are firing. Aircraft make the same sound when they crash and all the engines have the same noise. Sound carries over to different screens and to the main menu such as gunfire, water noises. The music is bland and the variety sucks, it also cuts in and out randomly.

Gameplay is way too simplified and arcade like. The premiere strategy is to just spam carriers and delete enemy fleets and ports from the bridge view. Ships are unbalanced, the game lags even on the bridge view. The Ai is braindead and just suicides small fleets or lone destroyers against my ports. The allied AI also sucks, sailing convoys and unprotected capitol ships straight into the enemy.

ASW warfare is also broken and seems more RNG based than any actual tactics or technological advantage. 3 Japanese subs survive wave after wave of Catalina attacks, and then when i send destroyers to hunt them down, the destroyers just do circles and then get torpedoed.

No sinking mechanics, its either your afloat and perfectly fine, or your ship is lost. Theres no inbetween. The Ai cheats on higher difficulty, its not smarter, it just gets more income so it can spam horrible carrier fleets at you to die. Absolutley zero challenge.

Historical accuracy has been thrown out the window. Territories are magically already captured on certain dates (Like Guam and Wake being taken on December 7th. Ships are just missing or dont even exist. The USA just doesnt start with any Submarines at all. Ship building times are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and mean absolutley nothing and dont reflect anything historical. Locations only having 1 aircraft slot but an entire hanger is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, especially when historically these locations had entire bases and airfields.

Theres no strategy involved, you just group your ships in a death ball and point and click them to move and attack things. Thats it. This game is so lacking in content, accuracy and the devs dont give a ♥♥♥♥ at all.

I am changing my review to negative as a result of the 4th battle of Midway where I engaged 3 prewar Japanese battle ships and a torpedo cruiser with 2 carriers (both admittedly with badly reduced aircraft after the 2nd and 3rd battles of Midway) and a fleet consisting of 3 battleships , 3 heavy cruisers, 3 cruisers , two light cruisers and 7 destroyers and losing my entire fleet apart from two battleships and the carriers (which were part of a separate task force). This is ridiculous. I re-fought the battle 5 times with either the same results or the loss of all my ships and at least two Japanese battleships remaining. This. Is. Not. Possible. Whilst the Japanese had better torpedoes and better optics, American fire control was markedly superior to that of the Japanese, as witness the Battle off Samar on 25 October 1944, where Taffy 3 consisting of 6 escort carriers, 400 aircraft (including planes from 2 other task forces) 3 destroyers and 4 destroyer escorts drove off a Japanese force of 4 battleships, 6 heavy cruisers, 2 light cruisers and 11 destroyers. Taffy 3 lost 2 escort carriers, 2 destroyers and 1 destroyer escort. The Japanese lost 3 heavy cruisers, with the other 3 damaged along with one destroyer. This was possible not just because of the heroism of the American commanders (one of whom was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor) and their crews, but also because of superior American fire control and the use of smoke screens.

You can see then why I find it VERY hard to believe that 3 obsolete dreadnaughts could eliminate virtually my entire force. Yes, I should certainly have taken losses, but NOT that many. Thumbs down.

Addendum: In real life, the US Submarine force was hands down the most effective fighting force in the Pacific, accounting for more Japanese tonnage sunk than all other forces combined. In this game? Not so much. I engaged a force of four destroyers and one light cruiser with the USS Barb, a Gato-class submarine. I fired a bow spread, sinking two of the destroyers, I then discovered that the Barb was . . . out of torpedoes for the forward tubes. WTF???? A Gato class fleet type submarine had six forward tubes and four stern tubes carrying a total of 24 torpedoes, eight aft, sixteen forward. In this game however subs are limited to what's in the tubes. Which renders them practically useless. They can make at most two attacks before trudging home to reload, rather than lurking and making multiple attacks. They are also apparently immediately detected by the destroyer screen when they are at periscope depth.

This is an "I like the game, but I'm very glad I bought it on sale" review. It's fun, and not too complicated but there are some things I don't like:
1) In game, it says that carriers can only launch when turned away from the wind. Whoever implemented this didn't do their research very carefully. Carriers in fact turn the bow INTO the wind when launching to increase the airflow along the deck to help the planes get into the air. Turning AWAY from the wind would cause the heavier planes to drop into the sea because they didn't have enough lift.

2) At the end of a battle, the only stats given are for your ships. It would be nice if damage to the enemy was shown even if only in general terms. After Midway for example, the USN was well aware of what kind of enemy ships had been damaged or sunk even if they were not immediately aware of exactly which ship it was specifically. Returning attack craft can tell what kind of ship they attacked after all. "I hit a Hiryu class carrier." or at the very least, "I hit a carrier and left it burning out of control."
(correction) I found the list of losses on the 'bridge' screen, so there's that.

3) The enemy surface fleet seems to make a beeline towards mine, even when they should be keeping station with their own ships-ie: protecting their carriers.

Are these game killing problems? No, but I'd still very much like to see them fixed.

闪退之类的大bug倒是没碰上，点选一条新cv之后飞机状态不更新之类的小bug一堆，增加了很多操作量。问题最大的是auto resolve战斗和手操战斗的平衡，自动战斗1bb+2CA被几条轻巡和驱逐灭了也就罢了，手操战斗一条老bb能被俩轻巡洗死，还以为我在玩x舰世界。。。

First, I'd like to discuss some of the negative reviews that almost made me not purchase this. With regards to bugs, there were some weird things that happened that I just didn't understand why, but they ended up not being bugs. Once I understood the game mechanics like carriers needing to be with the wind to take off (and sometimes to land) aircraft, I had no issues with them landing and taking off again. If the carrier is not positioned in such a way, then the aircraft just fly around until you move the carrier into the wind. There are arrow indicators at the bottom that make it very easy to understand and know when you are not lined up correctly. There was another instance I had an issue with aircraft not landing. Again I'm sure like the other people, I thought it might be a bug. However, I realized that the runway and also carriers can be too damaged to allow aircraft to take off and also to land. It was a game mechanic that I did not yet understand, not a bug.

Another post mentions a battle that he should have won. The reality is that your fleets can only execute the orders that you issue. Therefore, if you issue the attack command and allow the enemy fleet to engage with you, they will only attack until another order is given. The AI however, will be able to think tactically throughout the entire match if it is just left alone. If you allow auto resolve, you will most likely lose every time. This is the same as I said before, simply someone not understanding the game mechanics. Carriers should be played at max range especially if you have the carrier advantage. Every ship has its own stats too, so just because you have more ships doesn't mean you have a better fleet. They may have higher tier ships that are just better at everything. Honestly my only complaint with the game is that it was too easy. At the time of writing I have only played on hard mode, so I intend to play on hard+ to see if it will be more challenging. I didn't have any issues with balancing or bugs or any other the other complaints in these reviews as long as you understand the mechanics and play to the strengths of your fleets, you should have an easy time of it as well.

In my Japanese campaign, I played very defensively until I went from having 6 carriers to about 15. You get war bonds over time and by sinking literally anything so you can just defend your bases and pick off supply fleets that pass by in order to have the points to be able to build more ships. Carriers are OP when at max range. You bomb targets and keep moving away from them until they either die or you run out of aircraft. The aircraft repair fairly quickly when you are in port, so when you have that many carriers, you can just cycle them in and out of ports as you need repairs. Everything else (subs, cruisers, battleships, and destroyers) I used either to defend my carriers or to defend ports. It was quite easy at that point just bombing and repairing and repeating that strategy. I really enjoy the game. The only thing I would change is to make the AI more aggressive and more often send a large armada to attack rather than smaller fleets that are easily defended against. If you enjoy WW2 and understand the mechanics, you will likely have a blast with this title.
