game is good but its' engine is extremely fragile and old, not sure how people still enjoy it when you have to go through unskippable 240p intros and the lack of even a windowed screen mode from a game from 2010 just compels me to refund this, as well as it being super slow
don't get me wrong, the game is fun and interesting and it has a lot of indepth features but i personally cant stand a simple and basic game setting and making it so you DON'T have to go through 15 different programs instead of putting it all in one? i usually alt-tab and i have to wait hours for the game to actually go back to normal
it also takes up a lot of memory for whatever reason

Unfortunate how vic 3 is just worse
This game feels like a breath of fresh air after Vic3 somehow. The successor couldn't reach the bar that was set so high by the predecessor.

Maldito juego del diablo como me gustas, este juego sinceramente en su fase normal es una mierda pero no es solo una mierda es un mierdon historico, su multijugador fue diseñado por el gato de las oficinas de barcelona, las tribus de africa son igual a 0 y su optimizacion es una de las peores que eh visto en todos mis años jugando a videojuegos, le carrean bastamente los mods que hay que te los tienes que pillar de paginas webs, sinceramente es una mierda pero es adictiva y su interfaz es simple para ser un juego de estrategia, lo recomiendo porque es muy adictivo si empiezas a jugar con muchos mods xd
Out of games like HOI4, EU4, CK3, ect from what ive played, this to me is the most confusing to play and manage of the lot, but it is still much fun after a while, buy this over Vic 3 if you are thinking of getting either Vic 2 or 3
Fun game! I just got back into this game after having it sit on my account for years. Still fun and very challenging, my one struggle is that it seems to crash and be glitchy on my Windows 11 laptop.
Infinite clicking simulator. Why can't I set a policy once to stop getting 1 billion inconsequential pop-ups about tea or influenza or the underground railroad that pause the game every time? Why do I have to manually go into the diplo menu to increase opinion every. single. time. my influence is high enough? (And have to do so 3 times to go from neutral to cordial to friendly to sphere)
Also, having instant war goals on a country with your cores is stupid. They released a whole DLC for the American Civil War and never realized that, hey, maybe having the US keep cores on the CSA and declare war on them immediately every time the truce expires *might* be a bad idea.
(Though this is a problem with vanilla, as France will start a billion death wars over Alsace-Lorraine)

It's kind of a timeless classic with great moddability just be prepared for the occasional crash if you play big mods (I got GFM to work on Linux somehow lol but it can be unstable at times) and also MP is just asking for OOS - never been a part of the MP community I generally like the large singleplayer flavor mods to do whatever larp I like
This is by far the best game paradox has made. The deep economic simulation means wars are fought over resources and influence more than cheap land grabs. The game simulates combat to a suprisingly deep level, simulating how combat tactics change over the course of the era (from singular armies clashing to frontlines warfare). Overall, I think the UI and graphics have aged pretty well. The paper map view is pretty cool to look at.

Not for everyone, but this remains my favorite game of all time. Unlike newer PDX games, you will not have all the info and secrets shoved into your face. You will struggle mightily to learn and use your limited high school level economics education to move sliders around. You will actually see the scope of your country change and the shape of warfare be revolutionized over the timeframe of the game.
You can genuinely play start to finish in one day if you want, and leave fulfilled. The modding scene is terrific and still holds strong.
This game and CK2 hold special places in my heart. Don't think there will ever be anything like them again

To me this the best game by Paradox. The learning curve is somewhat high, but after overcoming it and learning the mechanics, this is one of the best Grand strategy games out there. 600+ hours spent on this and still returning to it after all these years.

This game had the devs put a lot of love and effort into it, and it shows. Unfortunately, I can't get the same enjoyment from the game's successor. Even the naming convention changed from Vic II to Vic 3. I often go back to this masterpiece that visually looks like a quarterly report.

Das Spiel ist typisch Paradox Games: Auf den ersten Blick sehr komplex und viel, aber am besten lässt es sich auf in einem englischen sprichwort zusammenfassen: as wide as an ocean, but as deep as a pond. Es ist also in Grunde genommen ein Knowledge Check. Weißt du, welchen Modifier du wann brauchst ? Weißt du, wie du mit diesem speziellen Event jetzt umgehen musst ? Wer schon Paradox Spiele gespielt hat, weiß was ich meine.
Viele Dinge in der Vanilla Version funktionieren auch nicht wie ursprünglich gemeint, was das lernen ungemeint erschwert. Dazu die natürlich die furchtbar gealterte UI, welche in üblicher Paradox Manier zwar vom Stil nett eingebunden ist, aber absolut nicht intuitiv ist. (immer noch besser als EU5 UI *hust* *hust*)
Das Spiel glänzt jedoch durch eine hervorragende Mod Community, welche das Spiel überhaupt erst in dem Sinne wie es gedacht war spielbar gemacht hat und für viele Victoria 2 Veteranen ist die HPM Mod quasi Vanilla.
Wer also keine Scheu hat sich endlose lange YouTube Videos in schlechter Qualität reinzuziehen und sich ein bisschen mit Mods auseinanderzusetzen, den erwartet ein sehr gut verzahnte Sandbox Simulation, wo jede Entscheidung wichtig ist.
Auch Roleplay Spieler kommen hier auf ihre Kosten. Es geht nicht darum alles 100% optimal zu gestalten, da die AI mehr oder weniger unfähig ist, wirklich sinnvollen Widerstand zu leisten.
Führe dein Volk von der Knute der absoluten Monarchie ins Zeitalter der Liberalität, oder verteidige die alte Ordnung und schmiede dein Land in eine perfekt geölte, autoritäre Kampfmaschine. Messe dich mit den anderen imperialen Mächten auf dem Schlachtfeld, oder dominiere die Welt durch Einfluss, Industrie und Proxy Kriege. Für Fans der Zeitperiode, Roleplayer, spreadsheetgamer und Zahlenfetishisten ein Must-Have. Nichts für Leute die wenig Zeit haben, Gelegenheitsstrategiespieler sind oder generell keinen kompetitven drive haben, einen Gegenspieler so hemmungslos in den Erdboden zu stampfen, das nichts mehr übrig bleibt.

Unfortunately, I have come to this game after playing Victoria 3. And while I know many longtime players disagree, I find this one rather unintuitive. Some time in the manual, and adding some DLC may help elevate it. But I wouldn't buy it again.

Questo gioco è perfetto per gli amanti dell'epoca vittoriana, belle epoque e post grande guerra; con una curva di apprendimento non subito adatta per tutti ma con il tempo può dare più soddisfazioni di EU4.
