Vessel во многом схож с Portal, такая же научная головоломка платформер с уникальным геймплейем на основе физики. Он обладает большим потенциалом на популярность, но из-за малой известности разработчиков и издателей был несправедливо забыт. Мне же еще в детстве повезло найти прохождение Vessel у Енота Никитоса и игра прямо таки запала в душу. Я несколько лет мечтал пройти игру самому, поэтому когда наконец-то появилась возможность её купить, то испытал просто невероятный кайф.
Механика управления жидкостью не кажется такой эпичной, как те же перемещения по порталам, но это не делает идею менее интересной. Вещества можно лить на машины, чтобы их запустить, а еще они обладают разными свойствами и их смешивание вызывает необычные реакции, делая из нас мини-химиков. Да и можно просто искупаться во всякой жиже (кроме лавы). Культовые флюро, как подобает автоматонам, верно выполняют свои поставленные задачи, хотя им не хватает ума перепрыгнуть ГГ, из-за чего они постоянно врезаются и умирают. В остальном же, они забавно выглядят (как эмбрионы и как желейки), а в свободное время их прикольно плющить.
Эстетика и атмосфера здешнего стимпанка настолько глубокая, что я прямо таки мечтаю побывать в этом мире вживую. Между человеком и природой существует гармония, где машины запускаются в движение не просто паром, а непосредственно самой водой, которая присутствует практически везде: в дожде, в горном водопаде, в подземных источниках. Про музыку вообще молчу и просто слушаю, настолько прекрасны эти эмбиенты. Сочетание в них спокойствия, динамичности и мистики заставляют испытывать умиротворение и радоваться одиночеству, с которой мы путешествуем по меланхоличному миру. А читать записи и схемы изобретателя Аркрайта в его личном журнале, где он анализирует эволюцию флюро и материалы для своего последнего проекта, для меня отдельное сплошное удовольствие.

Quite possibly the best puzzle-platformer ever made, and it holds up as well as I write this in 2025 as it did 13 years ago when i first played it on 360. Using cores and combining them with liquid to build atomatons and effectively generate Rube Goldberg devices leads to some of the most satisfying puzzle-solving I've ever experienced. This game is dirt cheap and worth every penny, I cannot recommend it enough.
Terrific game! Lots of new puzzle ideas that I've never seen before. Good controls, graphics and music. If you like puzzle games / figuring things out [ like Myst and Riven etc. ], then this game is for you!

Vessel is a pretty decent action-puzzle platformer that revolves around utilizing fluid physics and different amorphous machines called "Fluros". Different cores can give each Fluro a different behavior. Add different kinds of fluid available in the game and you can get some interesting results; there are actually a few puzzles where there may be a couple of different tactics may work to solve them. The general structure of the game is built around the platforming and solving puzzles to get machines working again. However, the game leans into the puzzle solving aspect a bit more with the fact that you can walk past most machines in a zone to work on another one and you can use a puzzle selection menu on the pause screen to quickly move to different puzzles in the zone that you've already visited.
After a few puzzles you're able to build a sprayer that lets you suck up water into a tank and then spray it so that you can easily create Fluros further away from a source of materials as well as in places that aren't as accessible to your character. There are even a few puzzles where the solution requires you to use both of the sprayer's functions to solve them.
You can look for "protoplasm" throughout the levels and collecting them will net you a few achievements as well as being useful for researching several upgrades. That said I found the most useful upgrades to be increases to the sprayer tank size and the "injector" shaped high-pressure nozzle. The injector-shaped nozzle charges up a shot of material large enough for one Fluro, puts the Fluro core that you have selected into the shot, and—upon release—lobs that shot in the direction you're aiming your sprayer; it actually allows for easier placement of Fluros in inaccessible locations without potentially wasting material or time when the puzzle requires good timing to solve it. I think that perhaps at some earlier stage of development these nozzles may have been more important, but that may have been scrapped as not having the right nozzle or an upgraded enough of a nozzle would gate the progress of the player and place more emphasis on searching for Protoplasm rather than just solving puzzles.
Interestingly enough while the game is a puzzle game with some action-platforming, unlike a number of other games in the genre a lot of damage [i]isn't[/i] instantly fatal. There's also no official damage gauge per se; it actually works a bit like [i]Call of Duty's[/i] damage and health regeneration system where you'll see red haze around the edges of the screen which will get brighter and become fatal if you keep taking damage, but will fade away if you stop taking damage. Due to the nature of some of the puzzles this is rather appreciated as you can end up in a situation where it would be extremely frustrating if damage were instantly fatal.
However, while the game is quite enjoyable, there are a few things that I felt probably needed more tuning. I think that character movement is generally well-tuned, but jumping off ladders is a little weird; and one part of the game requires you to jump between ladders to solve a puzzle. The game lets you walk off a ladder at any point so that you can fall and descend more quickly as well as jump off for the same reasons; but to jump a larger distance you have to walk off the ladder until you start to fall and then hit the jump button while holding the direction that you want to go. The other thing that I felt needed a little more tuning is the one nozzle that pushes you back a bit when using it; the fact that it's the only one that pushes you back suggests that it's meant to help with extending jumps and speeding up movement, but at the first level it doesn't seem to be useful enough for that purpose to suggest that upgrading to the second level would improve enough to make a difference. Also, there are a few achievements that just refused to activate until about the 3rd or 4th time meeting those conditions—and some of these had conditions that are fairly hard to meet in the first place.
Also, the game, being from 2012 comes with tech limitations that are no fault of the developer. The liquid all has about the same viscosity regardless of being water or some kind of goo and this can feel a bit odd at times. There's also no cloud saving, so if you want to continue your game on a different device you'll have to copy it over manually or figure out some other save backup system.
Overall the game is quite enjoyable, the puzzles have a decent variety, and just playing around with different Fluro cores and the fluid physics is fun in itself.

there's a clearly good core here, and it mostly comes through in the gameplay. but oh boy are some puzzles opaque AF. particularly in the last region, it's unfortunately common to *accidentally* solve a puzzle an either be confused how, or know exactly how and yell "how the heck would I have figured that out?!"
It's one of those puzzle/platform games that were very, very popular during the 2010's. You know what Im talking about, you have a gimmick and build a game around it. In this case the gimmick is water manipulation that allows you to create small water beings called Fluros that help you.
Game is ok I guess, puzzles are fun until they become increasingly difficult to a point I just gave up because I dont have time to spend on games I'm not enjoying 100%. Art is a bit bland, but it's never an eyesore. Controls are a bit too floaty, you'll die and miss some jumps because of it.

В первую очередь, конечно же, из-за музыкальной составляющей этой игры. Саундтрек в игре просто божественен, ни в одной другой игре он меня так не цеплял, как в этой. Но и визуал не отстаёт: такой меланхоличный, глубокий, по-настоящему приятный глазу. Вместе с саундтреком, они создают не передаваемую атмосферу, за которую я так полюбил эту игру. Очень жаль, что она не сыскала какой-либо популярности, но, если вы нашли её, я настоятельно рекомендую в неё поиграть! Быть может, она западёт вам в душу так же, как запала мне.

Altra cosa, il diario del protagonista e' veramente scritto bene, sia dallo stile da "pseudo scienziato" che usa il personaggio principale e anche dagli schizzi che disegna per rappresentare i vari livelli. Using fluids in puzzle design is always a challenge but is deployed well here with a well matched theme and style.
I love this game. It's a hidden gem. Way cooler than 99% of puzzle platformers out there. Only complaint is movement is kinda jank.

Великий учёный и испытатель Аркрайт изобрёл флюро – компактное устройство, способное собрать воду или другую жидкость в форму гуманоида и заставить выполнять примитивные команды. Промышленность и сельское хозяйство сделали резкий скачок вперёд, ведь всю простую работу можно было доверить флюро, которые могли работать круглосуточно, только жижку подавай. К сожалению, со временем, в действиях флюро начали скапливаться ошибки, которые некому было поправить. Кончилось всё тем, что заводы и шахты, где использовались флюро перестали нормально работать. Нам предстоит помочь изобретателю разобраться с проблемой и восстановить работу производств.
Главный герой, закинув за плечи большой бак для воды, взяв в руки брандспойт, отправился в непростое путешествие с кучей головоломок. Мы должны, используя возможности флюро и свойства жидкостей, решать задачки различной степени сложности. Некоторые загадки проходились в лёт, так потоком и проносились, но были и такие, на которых я застревал очень надолго. В конце мне даже пришлось пару раз заглянуть в прохождение, но это скорее из-за того, что в шахтах было темно и я не смог толком разглядеть все детали головоломки. Но, вернёмся к флюро, со временем мы соберём их несколько видов и каждый со своей способностью. Есть такие, что просто бегут к ближайшей кнопке, чтобы нажать её, есть двигающиеся строго к герою, есть боящиеся темноты и бегущие на свет. Видов жидкости тоже несколько. Простая вода, синяя и красная взрывающаяся жидкости и даже зелёная светящаяся слизь. Комбинируя флюро и жидкости, мы добиваемся нужного результата и продвигаемся дольше. В потаённых частях уровней запрятаны сгустки протоплазмы, которая нужная для прокачки. Вы можете увеличить размер заплечного резервуара, что бывает очень полезно, а также улучшить различные насадки для насоса.

Выглядит игра очень атмосферно. Всё такое серое и промышленное, покрытое туманом и паром. Разве что в садах есть место травке и деревьям, нот там тоже всё мутное от смога. На плоскую картинку наложили всякие эффекты, типа динамического освещения и карт нормалей, что придаёт игре некоторый объем. И, конечно, главная фишка игры – это физика жидкости. Да, она густовата, но она течёт, разбрызгается, наплывает волной и брызжет фонтаном. Даже сейчас, смотрится хорошо, тем более от небольшой инди студии.
В игре используется сложный технический английский, поэтому рекомендую найти русификатор, благо, народные умельцы сделали очень качественный перевод. А так, это интересная и необычная, даже уникальная логическая игра. Рекомендую попробовать.

Esse foi um dos primeiros jogos que joguei no PC quando ainda era moleque mas nossa olhando hoje em dia esse jogo é horrível kkkkkk e não tem nem desculpazinha do jogo ser velho porque 2012 lançou jogos excelentes.
A ideia central do jogo é muito boa, com a mistura da física dos líquidos e os quebra-cabeças mas serio que não teve uma pessoa que testou os mesmos antes?! Já começa que maioria dos quebra-cabeças é muito repetitivo e dependente da IA dos fluro [i](os bichinho de liquido que tu encontra)[/i] e a IA deles é horrível, o bicho se perde ou as vezes para no meio do caminho, isso quando não esbarra no jogador e morre, é uma agonia atrás da outra.
Os controles do protagonista é horrível, principalmente quando o assunto é subir uma escada. A historia é muito fraca, coisa que tu acharia num livro infantil praticamente, perderam um potencial incrível com a ideia dos [i]fluro[/i].
Visualmente o jogo tá longe de ser descente parece que as artes foram feita no [i]paint[/i], acho que as únicas área que é mais bonitinha é as cavernas e a área da fabrica. A música é ok, não é ruim mas nada memorável também.
Assim no geral se tu tá procurando jogo de quebra-cabeça procure outro porque tem coisa muito melhor por ai, esse aqui é um jogo bem medíocre para o que promete.

Good game. Some very neat ideas and physics based puzzles. Let down in parts by a bit of pointless backtracking, a bunch of upgrades that don't really help much and a final puzzle that when you solve as the game seems to intend doesn't work.
Still worth the money though and I hope to see more from these devs.

The controls are wonky (no mouse control, have to fully use keyboard or controller despite Steam having no controller compatible label on the library page) and even switching to didn't help all the issues I was having. The sound design is also really off-putting. I like puzzle games but I can easily tell both of these issues are going to ruin what enjoyment I could have gotten.
A mediocre puzzle platformer that even at its release was a world full of stellar ones. Animations on the main character are lacking too, jumping, something you'd no doubt be doing lots of is stiff and jarring to see.
With so many games out there even free ones even 12 years ago, I can't see why I'd spend time on this, and am only grateful it no doubt come from some indie games bundle many moons ago.
I have a soft spot for this game. One of the few where even years later, I think back on it fondly.

Я познайомився з Vessel ще у дитинстві, коли мій батько скачав цю гру з піратського сайта. Сам ні я, ні він так і не проходили гру до кінця, я в силу свого віку, а він в силу недостатку часу. Проте, незважаючи на складність загадок, я все ж часто повертався до гри, бо в першу чергу мене приваблювали світ, аудіо-візуал, фізика рідин і експерименти з ними та атмосфера, до цього ж ще й сеттінг мій найулюбленіший (стімпанк). Ці речі змушували згадувати про гру час від часу протягом мого життя і нарешті я купив та пройшов її. І зробивши це у свої вже 18 років, я полюбив цю гру ще більше.
Гра неймовірно самобутня, і таких механік як в ній ви не побачите ні в якій більше головоломці. Все зав'язано на рідинах та істотах під назвою Флуро, які зроблені з води і виконують функцію натискання на кнопки, яку масово використовують в різних підприємствах. Але по мірі проходженя гри істоти еволюціонують, з'являються їх нові види, а також нові рідини, що значною урізноманітнює загадки та способи їх вирішення, роблячи гру все складнішою та цікавішою. Сюжет гри розповідає просту але добре і з любов'ю написану історію про вченого (головного героя), який створив Флуро та зробив революцію в науці, але через деякий час з різних підприємств почали приходити числені скарги про те, що новий винахід починає створювати хаос на підприємствах, через що нам доведеться навідатися на них, та прибирати увесь безлад, заподіяний нашими творіннями.
В підсумку, видно, що розробники горіли зробити дійсно цікаву та самобутню гру і як на мене в них це вийшло, та ще й не абияк. Гра дійсно заслуговує набагато більше уваги, проте про це казати вже запізно, бо вона вийшла ще в 2012 році. Тим не менш, це не означає, що вам не слід спробувати цей неймовірно цікавий проект, що подарує вам купу добре проведеного часу.

This is probably my favourite small indie game. The sprite-work and soundscape are appealing and great at keeping the player engaged. I found the narrative to be engaging and the short journal entries paced well enough that I was excited to read them every time they popped up. There have been next to no bugs throughout my three playthroughs so the game feels well crafted. The platforming does feel a little janky but not to the point where it ever seriously messed up my gameplay. Finally, the puzzles themselves are well crafted. I will say that some of the puzzles lack that Ah-ha! moment that I see mentioned elsewhere in the reviews, but I found the execution and the satisfaction of solving each puzzle was enjoyable in it's own right and made me enjoy nearly every puzzle in this game. I Highly recommend if you're into solving puzzle, steam-punk visuals and/or scientific inquiry.
I’ve owned for Vessel for years and I keep coming back for a play through every single time and for the current price of course I’d say buy it because this game is a fun experience, especially on Steam Deck (proton experimental recommend for full screen res)
This game is really awesome. The concept of a liquid based platformer/puzzler is so much fun, and the gameplay pulls it off so well. What really sells it is the artwork, atmosphere, and theme. If you like steampunk, cool gadgets, and even a touch sci-fi this game is for you. You play as a genius inventor who created a liquid creature to push buttons! The industrial world now runs on these critters. After exploring various locales which have run into issues, you see that your creation has evolved and adapted to the various environments it lives in. Playing around with physics based puzzles and learning the inner workings of you own creations is incredibly fun and satisfying. Each world introduces more and more gimmicks, like steam powered machinery, explosive chemical reactions, and light-based puzzles. While there are only 3 main "worlds", the game has so much to offer and is most definitely worth a play for the price. Pick this one up if you have a few extra bucks or like interesting puzzle games!

Небольшая интересная головоломка, завязанная на физическое взаимодействие жидкостей. Пазлы не особо сложные, но местами необходимо подумать. Игра может немного баговать и физическое взаимодействие работает не всегда так как ты ожидаешь, но если вы любите небольшие пазлы и готовы мерить с вещами, которые случайно пошли не по плану, то эту игру стоит попробовать.

So here we are Vessel a game from 2012 now around 12 years old at this point. A game forgotten by most and beloved by the few that remember...
So I'm sure you're wondering, how does this old classic hold up to modern day games and is it still worth your time and money? Personally I believe so, I have completed Vessel 4 times, [i] 2 of which were 100% runs. [/i] And somehow i have still managed to have fun every single play through. Not because Vessel has some sort of "infinite replayability" but simply just because the game was genuinely fun...
[h1] So how does the game play of Vessel hold up nowadays? [/h1]
So let's start with the basics.
[h3] The controls [/h3]
Vessel's control are a little awkward sometimes.
Not that the control scheme is bad, The movement is just a little goofy. Your character jumps and falls very fast but luckily it's not exactly a platformer.
Turning valves can be tricky with WASD but it's much easier on a joystick. But shooting fluids is easier with a mouse as compared to a joystick.
Personally I say just use whatever control scheme you're most familiar with. I've played with both and I'll say the game fine with either.
[h3] The puzzles [/h3]
the puzzles are clever and fun but not too deep.
This is [b] not [/b] a puzzle game like "Baba is you" or "can of wormholes". If you are expecting some sort of crazy 4th wall breaking puzzles this is not the game for you.
Vessel is a very traditional puzzle game the puzzles stay in the room that they are in and you have everything you need within that room.
This is not a bad thing though it makes for a very nice casual puzzle experience!
The puzzles basically consist of a combination fluid simulation and creature behavior manipulation, And working with the machines around you. In order to push buttons and open doors to progress further. With some fun tools at your disposal in order to work with liquids and to make creatures out of them. It's a bunch of simple actions combining to make a massive reaction!
[h3] The lore [/h3]
I won't get in into any spoilers! But the story is a bit schizophrenic at best...
And completely incomprehensible at worst...
It's not that the story is explained poorly. It's that they barely explain any of the story!
And this is not like "Rain world" where you can find the entire story but it's so incredibly well hidden that you probably never will.
In vessel they just literally never tell you half the story. You barely know anything about the world you're thrown into...
You kinda know a tiny bit about the character you're playing? You have no idea what the purpose is of the places you're visiting. You have no clue what the rest of the world is like. And you have no idea what happens after the end...
So if you're into worldbuilding Vessel probably will be a little disappointing...
But the lore it does tell you is pretty good! Personally I think your character writing down journal pages is pretty cool. Plus it's got good artwork too. And what they do go explain they do in great detail. It actually feels like reading an inventor's journal!
[h3] The art style [/h3]
Vessel has a beautiful yet simple art style. That really nails the steampunk vibe!
And it sticks with it never once did I feel like Vessel's art style slipped.
The creatures are beautiful and simple their movements really incentivized their actions and behaviors,
Without being so over the top that it detracts from the experience.
And the environments are captivating without being overwhelming. With just enough things moving in the background to keep them feeling alive yet not distracting.
Sure if you really look closely you're gonna see some really strange texturing... And there's a lot of models that just cut off abruptly... But unless you're actively looking out for that kind of stuff you're not gonna see it.
[h3] The music and audio [/h3]
in my opinion the audio design of Vessel is very good.
The music tracks are solid and the sound effects really give it all a pop!
Plus interesting enough vessel has adaptive music! With the music shifting and adding more accompaniments mid swing to accompany things in the game. Which is pretty impressive considering it was made in 2012!
Although it does show its cracks and sometimes it glitches a little but not too often...

sadly the Vessel community is pretty much dead. As Vessel never had any mods made for it, and never had a sequel... The last time the steam community page had much activity was sometime around 2015-2018? And I have not seen a singular fan game. Though there has been a new YouTube video or two covering vessel, Something tells me it isn't gonna have a resurgence anytime soon...
So if you ever end up wanting more you're going to be left longing...

Ugly graphics and broken physics hold Vessel back. Bad impressions start immediately as the mouse cursor doesn't work in the main menu. But I stuck around to the spinning wheel puzzle where you can spawn multiple fluros who inexplicably vanish if the player tries to climb the ladders. That was the last straw. Water physics are fun, but the puzzles in this game are not.
An absolute masterpiece of a platform puzzle game. Superb Music by Jon Hopkins. The only bad thing about this game was there was no sequel!

Interesting at first becomes quite annoying after a while
Excellent and underrated game for physics puzzle fans and smart children. Takes a bit to get used to and has some unconventional mechanics and not the best collision system and super tight controls. But it's really unique, has a lot of charme and replay value - again especially for children, because its physics makes it not perfectly predictable.
super nostalgic and super fun
An interesting puzzle platformer with some nice art and environments that I remember enjoying enough to replay it for the extra challenges and general achievements I missed.
The game can be a bit finicky to work with at first as the creatures created are unstable but it was something I got used to during the playthrough and I don't remember it being a problem for me by the end of the game.
Such a great game. It has save slots, excellent music and direction arrows where to go. Shame I missed this game when it was released.

A platformer puzzle game that doesn't do either one very well.
Puzzles consist of sprawling zones, pressure plates, pulleys, and spawning little water goblins that seek out the nearest pressable plate. The correct 'solutions' are not difficult, and slow to put into action.
Platforming is poor. I could not identify a sprint or crouch, ladders are janky and slow, and jumping seems a bit floaty.
Would not recommend wasting your time on this. There are both better platformer and puzzle games out there.
Relaxing, challenging and different. The puzzles around the levels are good and solving them is what keeps you engaged
Nice little puzzle-platformer. I enjoyed playing the first few levels. Well thought out, standard learn-as-you-progress in the game.
Unfortunately, after only a few levels, I became increasingly frustrated by not being able to physically do whatever task was needed to pass an area. I'm an old-school gamer, I enjoyed figuring out the first puzzles, but then ultimately the game just became either too obtuse (requiring looking up walkthrough cheats), or too much speed and dexterity to win. Couple that with an occasional "things don't work because you clicked one pixel off" and you have a platformer that is unforgiving and not fun to grind through.
I still give Vessel a thumbs-up since most people will likely enjoy at least some of the first content. Sadly, I feel I was just starting to get into the game before it became too difficult. Luckily I picked this one up on sale cheap.

It's rather well made and enjoyable puzzle game featuring mechanics not oft seen in other games. You should preferably play this with a controller although mouse + keyboard are also possible.

Vessel is a 2-D side scrolling puzzle game featuring fluid physics.
Set in a steampunkish universe you play as a genius inventor who needs to remedy the mischief caused by his own greatest invention: man-sized fluid creatures (called fluros) that have behave intelligently enough to have become integral parts of industrial labor. Recently they have ascended beyond there mere servant status though and started to evolve new forms on their own, even acquiring a rudimentary form of sentience.
The worldbuilding and story are neatly done provide context to your unique abilities and the situations that you'll encounter throughout the world.
The puzzles I would describe as of the experimental lockbox kind meaning you'll need to discover the right kind of interaction between various creatures, switches and your own toolkit to advance. You do this by simply experimenting and taking note of the interactions in the given room. Somehow you need to chain them together and exploit them. There's also some lightweight plattforming here and there. Puzzles can be reset at any time, there's frequent check points and rarely time pressure or super precise input required all of which makes for a relaxed moment to moment gaming experience. Notably Vessel makes ample use of physics, specifically fluid dynamics. To give you an idea what that means: in a particular puzzle you might have to lure a fire creature to a nearby ledge, then spray it with water at the right time to generate steam and finally suck the steam into a nearby turbine to activate a generator. The path that water and steam take is computed dynamically depending on physical parameters like volume, velocity, obstacles, etc. as opposed to being prerendered (how most games would do it out of convenience).

* puzzles are generally well crafted and encourage you to experiment with the surroundings until you find the proper mechanism. The difficulty curve increases steadily as more and more tools are introduced. While there's generally 1-2 intended ways of solving a particular puzzle you might occasionally stumble into a non-intended, emergent solution.
* the physics engine behaves quite well which enables the exploitation of spraying liquids, filling containers, etc. This was a crucial thing to get right and the devs did it.
* the artistic presentation (art style, sound & music, etc) is pleasant and fits the game's mood and narrative
[h1]weak points[/h1]
* no ingame help or hints if you are stuck with a particular puzzle. If you can't figure out the solution to a puzzle you'll have to use external resources like a guide. I got seriously stuck maybe 5-7 times during my playthrough, mostly towards the end as the puzzles solutions become more intricate. The game follows a mostly linear progression but with interim sections where sets of puzzles must be completed but the player gets to pick the order. On those sections there's typically some leeway so only 5/6 might be necessary to complete a particular world. An ingame help or guidance system of sort would have really been appreciated. In the Zelda series you'll meet with people giving off hints or even have a sidekick chiming in when you are stuck but there's no such thing here.
* inefficient solutions still work but are less satisfying: sometimes you might get stuck on a puzzle and find a time consuming way to meet the condition anyways. An example might best illustrate this. Consider a particular puzzle in which you need to crush a water creature in just the right spot so that its water flows into the grate below and fills some container. If you don't figure out the right way you might alternatively try to splash around water at different angles over and over in the hopes that eventually enough droplets end up in the container. That too solves the puzzle but it's certainly tedious and not satisfying. I've had multiple occasions where I eventually progressed but thought to myself [i]Huh, that couldn't have been the correct way[/i]. There's no way to know after the fact though.
* upgrade system is largely useless. There's different unlockable upgrades in the form of nozzles that let you spray liquids at different rates or in different arcs and so forth but they're mostly gimmicks. Some actually do let you occasionally overcome obstacles in novel ways but the trick is that unless I tell you, you won't know which ones do that and which are useless. Upgrades are locked in permanently and cannot be swapped out. Nevertheless you can beat the entire game comfortably with just the default loadout. As a concomitant the exploration and secret hunting required to unlock the upgrades is also largely moot.

Overall, despite some frustrations, Vessel is a game that I'm glad that I dug it out of my library.

Obwohl die ja nun auch keine kleine Ecke mehr ist, sondern ein ziemlich großes Stückchen Gamingkultur für sich beanspruchen kann. Im Grunde wie früher zu Beginn der Spiele-Entwicklung.
Die größten Hits von damals waren auch lauter Ich-hab-da-diese-Idee-und-mach-mal-einfach ohne große Publisher-Konzern-Heinis-Schlipsträger im Nacken :-)

Dabei werden explizit (Fremdwörter einstreuen läßt Reden und Texte überzeugender wirken- sagen die Schlipsträger) insbesondere Flüssigkeiten sehr gut simuliert.
Schnelle Reflexe sind eher weniger gefragt.
Der Steampunkheld hat ein Gerät erfunden, mit der man Materie (zb Wasser) zum Leben erwecken kann.
Die entstandenen Wasserwesen wurden von der Menschheit quasi versklavt und in Maschinen missbraucht.
Daraufhin gab es eine Revolte und die Wasserwesen haben die Menschheit überrannt.
(Na wer hat denn das kommen sehen?)
Ein paar sind noch auf unserer Seite.
Gemeinsam versucht man nun Schalter zu bedienen, Kettenreaktionen in Gang zu bringen, Zeit für eine schöne Steampunkzigarre zu finden (okay, das hab ich mir ausgedacht - aber könnte doch sein) ... und die Menschheit zu retten.

Das ist ein echt geiler (und verstörender) Film - in dem ebenfalls eine Parallelzivilisation im Steampunkzeitalter ein Wesen erfindet, was sie letztlich zerstört. Aha!

Never completed it as the final puzzles were a little to hard for me to figure out, however the charm of the game has always stuck in my head .. Lovely visual & a nice soundtrack ... I do come back to this every now n then.
Interesting puzzles but the end of the game puzzles are ridiculous and frustrating. More fight the game than puzzles

One of the most important components of the game is music, composed by the famous Jon Hopkins. His melodies add depth and darkness to the game's atmosphere, making the gameplay even more captivating.
The gameplay, although it may seem complex at first glance, becomes intuitively understandable fairly quickly.

Starts out as a nice puzzle physics platformer, but then quickly changes into a very frustrating pixel-precision microsecond-accuracy fork-o-rama. no thanks.
This is a game I played so long ago steam didn't even record play time yet. Seeing it in my library I wanted to play it again to see if it was as good as I remembered, and turns out it is. The game has really satisfying physics and uses the game mechanics in really interesting and fun puzzles. The game is so cheap that if your interested in puzzle platformers at all you shouldn't pass it up. Highly recommended.
