Vapour is a game that is ultimately more confusing than terrifying. Ah well, at least we get to unlock some cute badges.....amirite guys? Amirite??? Lmao.

La primera impresión es potente: atmosférico, tenebroso, violento y con ganas de incomodarte. El juego te empuja a moverte con cuidado, a leer el entorno y a aceptar que “difícil” aquí no es adorno: es personalidad. Eso sí, también se siente como esos indies que te miran a los ojos y te dicen: “si no te gusta, es porque no lo entendiste”. Ajá.

Vapour es un indie de Acción/Aventura que entiende algo crucial: el terror no siempre necesita sustos baratos, a veces solo necesita un mundo hostil, sonido bien usado y la sensación de que cada esquina te odia. En ambientación y música, cumple más de lo que muchos “grandes” se atreven.
Pero también es un juego con decisiones que se sienten polémicas por omisión: 0 logros es una declaración de guerra a la cultura Steam, y ver 0 jugadores actuales lo hace parecer una reliquia maldita que solo se activa cuando alguien pronuncia su nombre tres veces. Aun así, con 108 recomendaciones totales, queda claro que hay un nicho que lo defiende… probablemente desde una cueva, con una antorcha, y sin paciencia para tutoriales.

I am 32 years old.
My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.
When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.
Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.

the prototype had so much potential, but this game is too broken to even be near playable and nothing really tells you what you have to do or where you have to go. the whole level design expects you to attempt to go out of bounds to actually progress with the game.
В целом у меня остались больше отрицательные ощущения по поводу этого проекта. Перед нами хоррор, точнее попытка сделать хоррор. Проект очень сырой, буквально во вступлении происходит прикол с текстурами воды. По поводу самой графики сложно сказать, скорее всего она тут средняя, хотя чего я хотел за 20 рублей. Если разработчики доведут проект до ума, то можно будет его пройти, а пока что за час с лишним игры я нашел десяток багов особо не вглядываясь. Да и статистика обзоров в Стиме не врет, в основном отрицательные. Так что и я не могу рекомендовать, увы только за идею оценивать - глупо.

In my opinion, the Vapor Prototype is really better, the truth is that I'm a little sorry that they left this project aside, it really could have given more, the game is not finished and also with quite serious errors, I'll keep the game I'm not going to refund it, this game deserved much more attention. I found Vapours world and mechanics to be pretty interesting, but as of writing this in 2023, 8 years after its release, nothing has ever been fixed.
It suffers from game breaking bugs, softlocks, horrible UI, and has no sense of direction. You can enable hints but it never gives you hints. You can find items but are unable to pick them up. So what exactly am I doing here?

I would give this game a neutral rating if I could.
It's very ambitious for a Unity game, and what is here is a fairly cool concept and an interesting story.
Unfortunately, it's also FULL of game breaking bugs, and is extremely unclear what to actually do to progress in the game, even with hints turned on. It feels more like an Alpha/Beta build of the game, and needs a ton more polish.
That said though, I would really like the developers to keep working on it; it has some real potential! Clear up the bugs, add some directional markers, and maybe let players save manually and in multiple spots so when the game does glitch up they aren't forced to restart completely.
This is it. This is rock bottom. This is the deepest pit of Hell. If you hate yourself and are looking to escalate those feelings, look no further. Vapour is beyond what mere mortals define as atrocious, there exists a state of suffering which was previously hidden from our senses. I always contemplate the same question whenever I play a game like this. Does the developer think; I've wasted the time so I may as well release it, or do they genuinely believe they have an acceptable product? I struggle with the implication of the latter. What manner of fiend can experience something like this and derive pleasure?
I beseech any god that will listen: let Part 2 remain as vapourware.

Vapour is a short first-person horror-themed action-adventure game made in Unity. You explore a small place "between Purgatory and Hell," solving a few puzzles, and fighting a few enemies with a few spells. The goal is to gather 3 pieces of an obelisk that, once assembled, acts as a key to the end of the game. Your journey is directed by objectives given to you in plain text, and sometimes hinted at by cheap jumpscares that appear without warning and WILL ♥♥♥♥ your eardrums, which really sets the tone for the suffering ahead.
However, I have to admit a shameful affinity for the aesthetic, when it isn't trying to be obnoxious. The music can be good, and the tryhard voice acting excellently delivers pointless monologues that sound like they were written by Richard Marcinko.
When you're standing still, Vapour has SOME parts that look cool, by embracing all that 2edgy4u stuff, and creating a tiny world which adequately translates into its visuals into what I feel while playing. The way that the pseudo-medieval architecture blends with a hellscape of canyons and dark caves feels somewhat reminiscent of Doom. Your enemies are these amalgams of flesh that move unsettlingly quickly. Even the player's perspective has some thought put into it, with your health and ammo being displayed on your viewmodel, instead of cluttering the screen with a HUD, and the glow of your equipped weapon acts as a torch.
Then you hit the button that brings up the in-game help screen, which is supposed to display your controls and a hint to progress, delivered on a piece of paper that the player character holds up to his face, but you notice something is amiss; None of the controls actually display their corresponding buttons, instead opting for the unhelpful "press the jump button to jump" type instruction that comes from the game not properly reading the generic Unity bindings setup. From there, things just go downhill.
As I said earlier, SOME parts of the world CAN appear neat IF you're taking them at a passing glance. However, any coherence Vapour's visual style may have is thrown out the window from the moment you start to actually engage with it. The buildings' interiors feel barren and plain. Even in regards to the terrain itself, the rocks that form a great deal of surfaces for all of the walls and caves primarily exist to cover up stretched ground textures that show through half of the time, nonetheless.
Traversing this chaos is somehow a bigger nightmare. Small obstacles that seem negligible can interrupt your movement, and collision detection is all over the place, with some random invisible walls thrown in for good measure. Steep inclines can rapidly push you up into nonsensical jumps, or instantly drag you down to their lowest point, especially when you're swimming. There is some *light* platforming here as well, but it always feels like you're in danger of slipping off of even the slightest ledges, which is another exercise in patience, considering your jumps will usually (but not always) fail if your feet aren't definitely on a solid object.
Most enemies seem just as clueless as to how to address this geography, leading to some odd behavior; They seem to just cling to what geometry is underneath them, with no regard for water or drastic differences in elevation. Meaning, if you jump to a rooftop, the enemies will follow not by jumping, but by instantly sliding across the surfaces that you leaped over. It's pretty jarring to look at, even more so than the "Hell Lords," who simply follow you in a straight line, ignoring all physical barriers to attack you with screen shaking and earrape.
Your tools for fending off your opponents are a couple of projectile spells and your bare hands. The ranged attacks have weight and effect that definitely makes them feel useful and fun, but the melee combat lacks any impact, like beating someone with a dry pool noodle. Without structure or method, you just move within range of an enemy for which hand-to-hand combat is viable, aim in its general direction, and trade light taps with each other until one of you dies. What's depressing is that this is sometimes the most efficient option, if you don't have immediate access to ammo pickups.
The biggest problem, though, comes from how Vapour handles death. When it works the way it's supposed to, dying moves you back to checkpoints that can seem too far from where you expired, even back into dungeons that you've already left. However, it should come as no surprise that it doesn't always work, which is particularly confusing on a first blind playthrough. You might get sequence-skipped back to a location you've already explored, which can overwrite your objective hint, because the game gives you the hint for your next objective based location-specific triggers. Or, not knowing where to go, you might get skipped forward into a section that you don't know you aren't supposed to be in.
The first time I died, it sequence skipped me to the graveyard, where the gates were still locked, and then I found I could skip all over the place (with very little control) by dying in certain places. Of course, this isn't without consequence; I eventually realized that, no thanks to this glitch that I was practically tripping over, I didn't have a clue where to go or what to do. Ignore the playtime I've supposedly put in, because for every 15 minutes of actual gameplay, I spent an hour trying to figure out where to go next.
About three hours in, I discovered it was possible to climb some of the walls of the overworld via the "mountain humping" technique common to games that don't know how to handle their own sloped surfaces. This allowed me to reach a tunnel entrance from a side which I was not meant to reach it, leading to the last obelisk piece I was looking for. A few minutes after, I finished the game. The ending cutscene doesn't match the rest of the experience at all. You just drop into some sort of desert town? What?
It's never a good thing to accidentally glitch into the end of a game before you finish it legitimately. Feeling unsatisfied with that conclusion, I decided that I would play through again, the way that was intended. This is where more of my unnecessary time came from, as I'd only had this epiphany years after the fact, and I'd already forgotten much of the game before returning. This review has been too long in the making.
On the next attempt, I was making good time. At the end of the graveyard dungeon was a tunnel which sent me back to the church, where several enemies had spawned in. Before I knew it, I was pinned in a corner and killed.
The game then spawned me, not at where I had just entered the overworld, but at the start of the game. I was confused, and also noticed that my weapons weren't working. They seemed to have disappeared entirely. My gathered obelisk pieces? Gone. I had a guess at what was happening, and returned to where the player gets the melee attack. I go through the motions, and the voice acting for getting that first ability plays, and then the realization kicks in; The game had erased all my progress.
1 more try. I figured that, if I did get glitched back to square 1 again, I would give up.
My final playthrough was the culmination of my hours thrown away adapting to the game's broken mechanics. After encountering a beefier Hell Lord, requiring a lengthier battle that was more about managing pickups than about any real technique, and a bit more exploration, I finally completed the obelisk. I beat the game a 2nd time, this time, for realsies. It didn't really change my opinion.
While I can appreciate Vapour's concept, nearly all of its good ideas are buried beneath the rough implementation and game-breaking glitches which pervade the whole experience. They add only frustrating length to a game that can otherwise probably be beaten in an hour and a half. I have spent way more time on this than I should have.

Rozgrywka tej gry jest tragiczna (w skrócie) eksplorujesz świat i co 3 minuty dostajesz jakiegoś "jumpscare" rodem z 1989.
Grafika jest ziemniakowa oraz animacje postaci są tragicznie zrobione, Jedyny plus tej gry to świetny głos lektora towarzyszący nam w prawie każdej cutscenie.
Czy polecam tą grę? NIE. Wręcz odradzam patrzenia się na cokolwiek związanego z tą "produkcją"

Одні з найбридкіших, найогидніших та найстрашніших монстрів, яких я коли-небудь бачив. Все інше у грі посереднє або кепське. Ігровий процес, головоломки, сюжет, текстури, деталізація та інше тільки дістали облизня від розробників. Проте з цієї суміші лайна, крові, бруду, бридкого й гнилого вийшли дійсно пекельні почвари. Ще й за будь-якої нагоди намагається гра налякати різними світло-шумовими ефектами. Весь час щось рикає, кричить, волає, горить і пердить. Все інше в грі то цілковита маячня.
Висновок: сміття, але моторошне, дрижаків трохи зловив.

Esta muy lindo graficamente, pero no se siente como un juego terminado, la ambientacion es espectacular, los sonidos, la tension, pero no sabes para donde vas, no hay lore, no hay objetivo fisico nada.
Vi que la empresa Skobbejak hizo lo mismo con sus otros titulos, Lanzan algo semi pulido y esperan sacarle plata a algunos incautos, Por lo que veo vendio poco el juego y me parece bien, El desarrollador se tendria que haber esmerado MAS en el juego.
De todas formas, Lo felicito por el trabajo hecho (lo bueno, hay que reconocerlo), una pena que no lo siguio.

The prologue is boring. It should be removed in my opinion.
Once I was able to play I walked around a bit and did some exploring, but didn't really run into much. I did run into a power up of some kind and was able to pick it up, but when I ran into the next one I couldn't.
The environment is eerie, but nothing came from it. I'm not sure if my game was broken or glitched, but there is a lot missing I feel. Oh well.

Quite terrible don't waste your time.
Very much trashy if im honest. 5 minute of intro were an unknown voice talks to you and you cant do anything while sitting in a boat. Once you get to the game, its basically "look for things to interact" while defending trash mobs that run around.
Those have unknown health, deal unknown damage and are just weird all around.
THe graphics are centuries old, the menus are insanely bad, controls confusing and gameplay negletable. Not recommended.
And yes, i didnt get past the first level.

A prime example of an Indie game that will never get finished. There is not much sense in playing this game because it is riddled with bugs and performance issues. Also there is a general lack of direction on what to do, there is no HUD, no map or minimap. Some hints pop up but then you still won't be able to get through this glorified demo of a game.
You can always watch the youtube playthrough I guess, as the devs themself suggested years ago when the product was still alive.

Only buy this if you're an aspiring game developer with a copy of Unity, some asset store art, and you want examples of things you should never, ever do with them.
Why, in my first and only five minutes of play I found examples of:
Menus that pop up on their own, give you no clue about how to turn them back off again, obscure most of the screen, and apparently don't do anything at all.
Puzzles so opaque you don't even know when you've encountered them.
Glitchy, stuttering swimming controls.
No feedback about what to do in any situation.
And so much more.

"Vapour" ist ein First-Person Erkundungs-Horror-Shooter.
Das Fegefeuer. In jener Zwischenwelt sind wir als Hexer unterwegs. Mit dem unglaublich schrecklichen Namen, der typisch für Hexer ist und bei dem alle, die ihn hören erschauern: Charles.
Aus der Egoperspektive latschen wir also durch die Level und schießen aus unseren Händen zunächst nur Feuerbälle, später dann auch andere Elemente wie etwa magische Bomben. Dankenswerterweise erleuchtet der Spruch, den man gerade aktiv hat auch stark die ansonsten trübe Umgebung, mal blau, mal gelb-rot. Dieser recht gut gelungene Effekt tröstet nur bedingt über die ansonsten vor allem durch Matschig- und Häßlichkeit glänzende Unity-Grafik.
Das Spiel wirbt mit zwei Behauptungen: es sei experimentell und so gruselig, daß man es erst ab 18 spielen sollte. Beide Behauptungen sind nicht mehr als Behauptungen.
Experimentell ist das Game überhaupt nicht. Viele Elemente gab es schon häufig in anderen Spielen. First-Person-Magie-Combat wurde schon mehrfach vergeigt und ansonsten sucht man die Level vor allem nach Hebeln, die hier blutige Arme sind, oder nach Kisten mit Tränken, die lediglich unsere jeweilige "Munition" wieder auffüllen. Wenn das experimentell ist, nenn ich mich Edison.
Wenn die Entwickler mit dem ab 18 die Uhrzeit meinen, kann ich das verstehen. Denn erst wenns dunkel wird, erkennt man im braunen Grafikbrei wirklich etwas. Ansonsten reduziert sich der Gruselfaktor auf billigste Jumpscares. Gegner und Gegend kann man nur als albern und nervig bezeichnen. Die Gegner zucken rum wie Murmeltiere auf Droge. Ansonsten ist man durch das Leveldesign vor allem damit beschäftigt nicht zu laut zu gähnen.
Denn das Leveldesign gehört zum Schlechtesten, was ich je gesehen habe. Trotz Hinweisen steht man immer wieder vor der Frage, wo´s denn nur weitergeht. Da sich die anfangs kleine Region durch Spielfortschritt immer weiter vergrößert, es aber auch im ersten Anfangsbereich das nächste Objekt zu finden ist, ist man vor allem mit planlosem Rumsuchen und Backtracking beschäftigt. Zwei idiotische Design-Entscheidungen killen dabei jeden Spielspaß:
Erstens sind die Zugänge zu den Orten, an denen es weitergeht oft sehr versteckt. Mal muß man auf Dächer krackseln und wilde Hüpfaktionen machen, mal findet man ein winziges Durchgangsloch unter Wasser in einem langen Fluß.
Zweitens - und das ist noch weitaus idiotischer - ist das Leveldesign zwar nicht linear, der Verlauf, in dem man Dinge erledigen oder finden muß aber schon. Das heißt man kann nur Auftrag nach Auftrag erledigen. Und der Auftrag danach ist noch gar nicht zugänglich, obwohl man vielleicht schon in der Höhle war, die die übernächste Aufgabe enthält. Aber erst wenn man das erste (ganz woanders) gemacht hat, taucht in dieser Höhle aus dem Nichts dann auf einmal ein Hebel auf. Das weiß man allerdings nicht, was zur Folge hat, daß man immer wieder jeden Schauplatz neu absuchen darf. Backtracking at its worst. Oder Zugänge sind erst zu öffnen, wenn ich etwas bestimmtes gemacht habe. Eine Tür etwa läßt sich zunächst nicht auftreten, dann aber, wenn wir in einem anderen Gebäude etwas gemacht haben, was nichts mit der Tür zu tun hat, schon. Das ist einfach nur übelstes Leveldesign.
Und ansonsten? Die Gegner geben kein Trefferfeedback, tauchen auch gerne mal unvermittelt und zusammenhanglos auf. Bossgegner sind vor allem in engen Gängen einfach nur nervig, weil man nur eine Chance hat, sie mit zahlreichen Treffern zu besiegen, wenn man immer rückwärts läuft, was aber in engen Gängen nicht gerade einfach ist. Ständig bleibt man hängen und segnet das Zeitliche. Immerhin ist der Sound einigermaßen solide, wenn auch nichts Besonderes.

Oyunu ilk olarak korsan bulup yüklemiştim beğenince almaya karar verdim ilk başlarda pek çok hatayla karşılaştım ama herkesin yaptığı gibi söylenip küfür etmek yerine kalkıp adamlara mail olarak hataları yazmaya başladım ve beklenmedik bir şekilde adamlar bana cevap vermeye ve problemleri düzeltip update çıkartmaya başladılar sanırım 10-15 kez mailleştik.
Uzun lafın kısası bu tarzı sevmiyorsanız çok yavan gelecektir, bana blood1 duke nukem havasını yaşattığı için çok sevdim bir kaç yer hariç öyle aman aman korkmadım ama büyü ve korkuyu birleştirdiği için oldukça hoşuma gitti.

I'm ususally one for trying out a game even with bad reviews on how clunky it is but damn...this is CLUNKY. To the point where I literalyl cannot continue in the game because it's just sp glitchy and clunky. Seems like it would be a decent game, if they would take the time to fix it up.

У меня правило - выбивать из игры все значки. Это правило позволяет мне иногда распознать шедевры, которые на первый взгляд не кажутся таковыми. Vapour с его невнятной игровой механикой, отвратительной графикой и многочисленными лагами показался на первый взгляд потрясающе ужасным примером игродела. Тем не менее, следуя своему правилу, я потратил шесть часов на его прохождение. Что-то всё же есть привлекательное в игровом процессе, которое позволяет некоторым людям оставить положительный отзыв об этой игре. И я их понимаю, потому что тоже увлёкся её прохождением. Что-то манило за поворотом каждой головоломки, даже при безбожных лагах в физике и графике. Но я устал. Когда оказалось, что босс, который, судя по видео прохождения, должен помереть во второй нашей битве, решил воскресать раз за разом, оставляя мне удручающее однообразие в его убийстве, мне это надоело. Это отвратительный пример реализации врага, который появляется в буквальном смысле неоткуда. Вертишь головой во все стороны и вдруг: БАЦ, он перед тобой, а его единственное касание - смерть. Смерть, мать его за ногу, в единственное касание! И пошли заново убивать его круг за кругом от церкви. Нет, спасибо, больше я на это тратить время не буду и никому не советую.
