Now let me preface this that I am not a fan of v5. I don't like the changes, I dislike the mechanics and the story edits so my review is already not in favor. - I WOULD SUGGEST GETTING THIS GAME ON SALE THO.

Bottom line? This game needed more time to get finished. The set designs are lovely, the ideas that are there? I see the vision but they did not have enough time to work on the animations. Mostly with the eyes, and the mouths because it takes me so out of it.

The way some words are said, like Primogen and Malkavian hit a weird place for me as well. The storyline with the Malkavian character was my least favorite, it felt so needless and I hate the idea of child vampires in any media.

That said, something this game does so well that I kept rooting for? They did Hunters so good. How true faith, and how Society of Leopold were shown was just so good that if this was a HtR game it would be SO GOOD! I really think this group could pull off a Hunter game much better than vampire, but I know v5 doesn't do Imbued which breaks my heart.

I really enjoyed Swansong as a longtime VtM fan, and I think it was better than all the mixed reviews might lead you to believe. The game absolutely has some issues, but I personally felt that the parts it does well make up for it enough to be an enjoyable experience overall.

I do think you have to meet the game where it’s at–it’s not Bloodlines. Swansong is, primarily, an exploration/investigation game with dialogue/story choices and a few puzzles–it’s closer to something like Life is Strange or a Telltale game. It’s not open world, it’s somewhat linear, and there’s no combat. But if you’re looking for a solid VTM story with some light exploration, read on.

Story
I thought the story was super engaging. There were some narrative twists and turns that genuinely made me gasp. Interestingly, it seems like people were really polarized about the story, and I have some thoughts on why. But I would argue that Swansong stuck the landing here.

(+) I think they really captured the World of Darkness vibe. There is SO MUCH scheming, and finding the secret dealings of side characters felt rewarding.
(+) Playing as 3 different characters was really fun. I liked that they each had their own little dramatic arcs and goals. I also liked that, from character to character, you can learn things about the other MCs that they don’t know themselves.
(+) I felt that the Big Decision moments where your choices have impact were generally solid. The stakes felt complicated and I had to really think about what I wanted to choose. I felt like I could clearly see the consequences of my actions play out.
(-) My theory as to why some people disliked the story is that there’s not enough variety in the characters. Most of the story is about high ranking Camarilla, so basically all of the major players are powerful, tactical schemers, so there’s no colorful personalities or rebels to balance them. I think Wayatt (or possibly… Berel? *shudders*) might be the closest we get to comic relief.
(-) There’s a LOT of lore & backstory that gets relegated to a codex in the menu. The info is cool, but I wish it had been folded into the game more organically. There are also multiple instances where huge in-game plot twists were basically spoiled in the codex ahead of time. Beware!
(?) Side note on Emem–I feel like she doesn’t quite work as a Toreador. I can’t shake the feeling that she was originally written as a Brujah and then they changed it for some reason.

Gameplay
This is where I, and probably many others, have the most strongly mixed feelings. I think the overall idea was compelling, but it felt like it wasn’t quite implemented right.

(+) Exploring areas looking for clues generally felt satisfying. I really suggest taking your time and making sure you’ve thoroughly combed an area, because there is often information that will take you into deeper outcomes than you realized. I appreciate that there are indicators of when you’re headed for a point of no return in a level so you have the option to do a last sweep.
(+) I liked how the disciplines were woven into the game. Each main character has a particular unique power that offers some nice variation in the gameplay.
(+/-) The skill tree is okay, but it often feels like you need to invest in specific skills to progress–unfortunately, being a generalist doesn’t really pay off. I do, however, like that your actions during the course of a level can affect your traits and talents.
(+/-) The puzzles were fine. Some moments were stronger than others–tracing the scents of vampires to determine their final locations was fun. The Tremere elevator was not. Walkthroughs help with the more annoying ones.
(+/-) Biggest mixed bag of the game was the confrontations. I do like the idea that convincing a character of something requires more thought than normal dialogue, but the execution was off. There are many confrontations where the only right answer requires using a specific skill, and if you haven’t put points into it, you’re SOL. Sometimes you pass a skill check, but it’s the wrong answer. Generally, getting the right answer felt like a combination of guesswork and luck. It’s a shame because I think the idea is good, but it feels impossible to get these right without a guide.
(-) I’m not a fan of the “focus” mechanic. It was frustrating to invest in a skill and then still have it fail on what amounts to chance. You can completely bork important interactions because of sheer bad luck.
(-) Speaking of borking: if you miss something or fail an interaction, your character can actually get caught in a failure loop where they get less XP to upgrade their skills and then less likelihood of success in future chapters.
(-) Given that we’re playing as fairly mature vampires, it’s inexplicable how bad our stats are against younger kindred. Enem has been a vampire for over 100 years and can’t outfocus a 20 year old. Galeb will get continually owned by his own childe unless you invest hard in a specific set of skills. I wouldn’t mind so much if we were dealing with older kindred, but it’s humiliating to have neonates dunk on you all the time.
(- - -) There is an unforgivably hard left-field stealth sequence late in the game that completely ends one character’s story if you fail. The only way to avoid this sequence is to have picked up one very missable object during an earlier chapter.

Technical Issues & Graphics
I first played this game on an older laptop and quickly hit a gamebreaking bug that I never solved. I came back to the game when I got a newer computer and now it’s been fine. Maybe some of the bugs have been patched over time, but your device’s specs might impact this one.

(+/-) I generally don’t care about graphics, but with my first computer, they were so bad that cutscenes were unwatchable. Lag, jumping textures, etc. Now, they seem fine, even if there are occasional issues with lip sync and weird camera angles during dialogue.
(-) While my run on my newer computer was fine, I’ve seen a LOT of posts about particular bug-prone spots. Annoyingly, if you do hit a bug, your only options are to restart the entire level (and potentially lose hours of progress) or pray that the last autosave came before the bug.

Misc: Visuals, Design, Sound
(+) I thought the characters looked cool and their style generally fit their personalities. Mixed feelings on Leysha, as she looks very Malkavian but not very mom (but whatever, moms can be goth too). Laughed out loud when I saw the Gerard Way-lookin’ Anarch Baron. Coul not take him seriously.
(+) The areas felt very vibey and captured a nice range of both sleek and grungy (I particularly liked the Red Lounge). The Camarilla compound is a nice hub, and searching everyone’s apartments is fun. In the later levels, I do feel like the areas started to get somewhat overwhelmingly large, but I found it satisfying to discover hidden areas and secrets.
(+/-) The voice acting was hit or miss. I think Galeb and Leysha were the strongest. Some characters could be a little flat or otherwise strange in their delivery. Halsey’s lisp was arguably the most annoying thing in the entire game.
(+/-) The music is mostly just ambient, and it fits the mood, but there’s not much to comment on. I do like the main theme(?) used in the main menu, but unfortunately, they’ve only publicly released a version of the song that includes super cringey vocals by Dollar Store Lacuna Coil. For the love of god, someone please hack the game’s files and find the instrumental version.

Conclusion
I think it’s worth grabbing it when it’s on sale. I would really recommend playing with a walkthrough that can steer you around common bugs, ensure you don’t miss important clues, and give you a fighting chance at the confrontations. With a little polish and tweaks to the gameplay, I think this could have actually been one of the stronger VTM games out there. As is, I’d say it’s a flawed gem.

I love the point and click games, as well as episodic/ choices matter when you make a decision that drives the story. But this game misses the mark by a mile.

- More glitches than any other game of its kind.

- Allows you to make pointless decisions that have no impact in game that are so bad, you have to restart scenes.

- Terrible in game voice dialogue ( werewolf scene is the worst).

- One of the most anticlimactic endings to a game i have ever played ( it's like they didn't finish it).

The fact that steam is not selling this at a low price (even with DLC) is crazy. If people are telling you to buy this game on sale, and they are, then you might as well keep it at that price. Nobody should not be selling games like this for more than 20 bucks.

I’ve all ways enjoyed the VTM setting. The plot and characters are interesting and the game is a great narrative experience.

Definitely worth getting if you’re a fan of the setting, but best of waiting for a sale to buy it.

O gráfico parece de 15 anos atrás, os personagens são estranhos, andam de modo estranho. A investigação é muito chata, cansativa, são centenas de arquivos, com várias páginas, você precisa ler, entender e anotar ou decorar tudo que pode ser importante, principalmente datas para adivinhar as senhas, desenhos na parede, basicamente você precisa procurar em fontes externas as senhas. Muitas senhas você tem que digitar, então tem que ler o arquivo, descobrir que você tem que somar 4 anos a uma data de criação de uma empresa em outro arquivo, você pode nem ter achado ambos, é impossível adivinhar...

As habilidades de vampiro são limitadas, se você desperdiçar não vai conseguir pistas importantes, se economizar, também. Se não descobrir as pistas vai perder exp. Sem exp seu personagem vai ficar cada vez mais fraco e descobrir cada vez menos pistas. As skills não são intuitivas, você pode evoluir errado e se prejudicar, algumas skills são pouco úteis, outras quase inúteis e muito caras, se evoluir errado tem consequencias em não avançar nas pistas e prejudicar o final.

Basicamente, se você quiser resolver tudo, vai passar 75% do tempo lendo sites e vendo vídeos e só 25% jogando. Se quiser jogar logo, se prepare para ser fraco e ter um final ruim.

Não tem save manual, são check points, se você fez besteira já era ou tente dar restart e perca mais tempo voltando a fase inteirinha.

Os confrontos de diálogo, metade das opções corretas são meio aleatórias, não da pra saber a correta e só são corretas porque o escritor decidiu, nem sempre tem lógica. Chega a ter 5 opções erradas e 1 correta, sem como usar a lógica para decidir. No final, sem a skill certa no nível certo, você pode morrer por uma escolha na última fase.

本想为了音乐原声买椟还珠一下，以为看过差评已经做好心理准备了，结果进了游戏实际体验还是忍不了一点。人物建模丑陋，动作僵硬，神情诡异，看得让人恐怖谷效应大爆发。走路太慢说话太慢是要憋死急性子，连新手教程也忍不了，这居然是2023年的游戏，2013年的一些游戏也可以吊打本作了，纯粉丝向作品，就算是ip粉丝也建议先找游戏实况来看看，能接受再买来自己玩。

Keep in mind that this is a pretty big asterisk here. This game is buggy and a few of the puzzles can be obtuse but I think it's ultimately pretty enjoyable. It feels like a low rent Until Dawn in the World of Darkness setting and I found my really getting into it as time went on.

It desperately needs a definitive edition to clean it up, but if you want a vampire narrative game I think you should really think about it.

Gioco molto carino. Mi ha divertito. L'ho comprato scontato, e devo dire che il prezzo pieno non lo varrebbe. Gli enigmi sono ben pensati, sia che tu abbia sviluppato le discipline o meno. Ti mette un po' di tensione. Ti fa empatizzare con le due protagoniste femminili,peccato che Galeb venga approfondito di meno e quindi questa meccanica pecca un pochino,ma compensa con i raggiri mentali e la viulenza (Prova a riprendersi sul finale dal lato di lore,ma ormai è tardi).
Ultima cosa che mi sento di dire:avrei preferito dei vampiri più giovani per il fatto che le abilità praticamente gliele devi sviluppare tu a vampiri CENTENARI. Ti fa faticare ad immedesimarti,soprattutto all'inizio.

Die Story an sich ist super, aber das Spiel hat fundamentale Schwächen, die nicht auszubügeln sind.

Es gibt im Spiel keine Kämpfe. Das Spielprinzip ist das Sprechen mit anderen Charakteren, bei dem man sie mit Skillchecks überzeugen muss. Dazwischen muss man Räume akribisch auf Gegenstände und Infos absuchen oder Rätsel lösen.

Man muss allerdings VOR einer Mission skillen, weiß aber absolut gar nicht, welche Skillchecks in der Mission gebraucht werden. Da es meist nicht genug Varianten gibt, Probleme alternativ zu lösen, hat man im Zweifel dann einfach ins Klo gegriffen und versagt komplett. Man muss ein bisschen hellsehen können, um in dem Spiel genug richtig zu machen.

Nachträglich korrigieren oder später etwas lösen geht meist auch nicht. Auch wenn ein Skillcheck einmal versagt hat, ist das Thema in der Regel gegessen, auch wenn es wichtig für den Rest des Spiels ist. Auch ein Neustart der Mission ist nicht möglich.

Man weiß oft auch nicht, was einzelne Dinge machen und danach kann man den Spielstand nicht laden, wenn man sie ausprobiert hat und merkt, dass das nicht gut war. Beispielsweise erhöht sich der "Verdächtigkeitsgrad" im Spiel, wenn man jemanden austrinkt, auch an Stellen, wo es keinen Sinn macht. Vorher weiß man das nicht und wenn es so ist, ist es schon zu spät, da man das nicht mehr ändern kann. Den Rest des Spiels lebt man dann mit einem Malus.

Allgemein weiß man ständig nicht, was man tun soll, obwohl man zu einer Entscheidung gezwungen wird. Man hat aber in der Regel überhaupt keinen Plan, was die Tragweite dieser Entscheidung ist und warum man sich für das eine oder andere entscheiden sollte. Das kommt erst danach und dann ist die Sache schon gegessen.

Die Skillchecks sind oft auch reine Glückssache, bestimmen aber über den Spielerfolg, da sie das zentrale Element darstellen. Auch wenn so gut wie alles glatt läuft, hat man trotzdem das Gefühl, dass man nur gerade so durch das Level gekommen ist. Das liegt vor allem daran, dass alles, was man tut, Energie kostet, die sich schnell verbraucht.

Alles in allem leider eine wirklich frustrierende Erfahrung. Schade um die Atmosphäre und das Setting. Die Idee ist gar nicht schlecht, aber die Umsetzung ist so Frust und Ärger provozierend, dass es wenig Spaß macht. Der Fluch der World of Darkness Games hat wiedermal zugeschlagen.

Визуально игра выглядит как дорогой сериал от HBO — с поправкой на то, что оператор иногда забывает включить автофокус. Локации проработаны до мелочей: унылые офисные коридоры, роскошные особняки и подворотни, где так и хочется кого-нибудь сожрать. Но есть нюанс: лицевые анимации персонажей — это отдельный вид искусства. Местами кажется, что герои играют в «угадай эмоцию» и пока не очень преуспели. Кто-то закатывает глаза так, будто хочет рассмотреть собственный мозг, а кто-то улыбается, как будто только что вспомнил, что забыл закрыть холодильник с донорской кровью дома. Звук и музыка создают нужную атмосферу мрачного нуара, так что если закрыть глаза на мимику — можно даже испугаться.

Геймплей здесь — это гремучая смесь квеста, интерактивного кино и симулятора поиска ключей. Вы будете бродить по локациям, собирать улики, взламывать компьютеры и пытаться не уснуть во время чтения электронных писем (спойлер: это сложно). Главная фишка — система диалогов, где ваши навыки и дисциплины решают всё. Хотите запугать собеседника? Прокачали запугивание — отлично. Хотите соблазнить? Тоже вариант. Но помните: очки действий и уровень голода ограничены, так что бездумно тратить способности нельзя. Три персонажа играются по-разному: Лейша умеет копировать внешность и косплеить Хитмана, Эмем телепортируется, а Галеб просто устал от жизни и хочет, чтобы все от него отстали.

It's a real shame that the game is technically mediocre and that a lack of resources prevented the creation of a great adventure game or a more advanced RPG, because the story is truly captivating, well written, and the characters are interesting.

The fantasy world of Vampire: The Masquerade is very well rendered, down to the smallest details. The stakes, moral choices, politics, acceptance, betrayals... everything is very well done.

Even if the gameplay is often limited to puzzles and dialogue,
these are well done and it's nice to see a game that takes dialogue into account for conflict management (as in tabletop role-playing games) through persuasion, charm or intimidation, for example, even for deadly conflicts!

This game is a good immersion into the World of Darkness universe, as long as you leave the technical aspects aside.

This game is a MUST BUY during SALES.

The game likely won't be patched, so the bugs are here to stay.
However, if you love Narrative Investigative RPGs and deep character stories, it is highly addictive. Just be prepared to fight the system as much as the mystery!

Swansong completely threw me for a loop.
It’s a deep, addictive narrative detective RPG that is both brilliant and broken.
What I really loved:
- Strong, well-developed lead characters.
- Diverse gameplay styles (detective work, puzzles, stealth).
- Genuine role-playing freedom to be "the villain."
I couldn't stop playing until the end, but you really need to know what you're getting into before you buy.

Игра действительно заслуживает внимания. Персонажи яркие; сюжет увлёк. Проработанные локации; во время квестов не водят за руку – вместо этого предоставляют свободу в исследовании. Приятно, когда благодаря внимательности можно увидеть множество путей для получения нужной информации. Ну или не увидеть – неудачи тоже могут стать частью истории. За одно прохождение удалось увидеть едва ли половину возможных вариантов.
При таком подходе к подаче сюжета – не могу сказать, что отсутствие боёвки является минусом.

This is a positive review only because there is no "Neutral" option.

Let's start with a clarification - this is not an adventure game, or an RPG, or a puzzle game, or whatever else the Steam tags might say. It's an interactive story with very very annoying and very long sections where you just wander around large areas searching for very specific items (and for the millionth time, that does NOT qualify as a puzzle!) - and another mechanic where you have to basically randomly guess the right thing to say in a confrontation, based on pretty much nothing because there's really no logic to it nor any actual connection between what the dialog option shows and what the character will actually say when you select it.

If you have a walkthrough open, telling you where everything you need is and what the correct options are in a confrontation, then you can get around the god-awful gameplay. That makes enjoying the game actually possible. Well, when you're not running into game-breaking bugs or just getting really annoyed at how badly designed the skill system is, that is.

But really, if you can get past the gameplay being absolutely god-awful, there is a beautiful world and a good story to enjoy here. Well, some caveats here too, unfortunately - the plot is pretty weak, and you really don't get enough time with all the characters to truly get attached.

But the VTM lore is extremely rich and this world is always a thrill to jump into. The writing is very good, the pacing is great, and the main characters are very interesting and three dimentional - especially Galeb whom I think deserves his own game because he really really needs more screen time.

You absolutely HAVE to avoid trying to play this game with no assistance, though. Trust me. You will get so damn frustrated at how badly it's designed, and getting any good ending requires finding some very very specific things that there's just no way you're even gonna notice on your first playthrough (and it would honestly take a masochist to play this game more than once).

If you can put yourself though that, for the sake of a good story - this is worth playing. Otherwise, avoid at all costs. I have played so many games in the genre and none have had gameplay even half as bad as this.

Tolles Spiel, hebt sich sehr stark in ein Pen & Paper Spiel Richtung RPG ab, Die Szenen lassen sich nochmal spielen oder neustarten und so lässt sich dann auch gezielt Stats ändern, Stats verbessern. Die Story ist richtig gut, gefällt mir bei allen 3 Charakteren. Für mich gefühlt etwas zu kurz gehalten, bekam es einmal kostenlos bei Epic Games jetzt auf Sale Komplettpaket geholt. Klare Kaufempfehlung.

Super glitchy, the autosave function is totally fubared. Just finished the investigation of the library, and when the acheivements screen popped up and I upgraded Enem's stats, I got sent back to the beginning of the sequence, which was complete b.s., and there's no save after that. Not going to do the f*cking blood puzzles again, they take like 30 minutes to do to get through. The graphics are pretty good, but the walking is janky and the voice acting mostly sucks. So, yet another WoD bummer.

The best comparison would be Fort Solis. It has prety good story, lore, and overall writing. Sadly that is the only good thing.
If you dont care about achievements, go ahead, the story is good and worth it, but anything beyond one completly blind playthrough with open mind for the slugishness of the game is a no go.

CONS
- it would be ok if it was just story-focussed slow burner, but this game is a slog, everything is painfully slow, way too many unskippable (repeatable) voicelines and scenes like feeding, that just drain your time and patience for no gameplay reason
- it is missing basic features like save and load, in combination with chapter select being bugged and practically unusable, if you dont want to slog yourself through the game multiple times, the developer console is the only acceptable way to replay reliably parts of the game and to save/load for achievements
- bugs
- character animations, lipsync, and generarly faces all look laughably horrible
- individual (voice) lines have fluctuating intonation, which makes them sound disjointed and strange

Um pouco limitado ao obrigar os jogadores a jogar apenas cenas específicas e bugava um pouco ao tentar abrir/interagir com os objectos permitidos. A história é interessante mas o final deixa um pouco a desejar, parece que ficaram muitas coisas no ar e não se sente um verdadeiro final. Deu para voltar a sentir um pouco do ambiente de vampire masquerade para quem se interessa neste mundo e jogou o primeiro. Esperemos que continuem a fazer mais desta saga pois há muito por explorar. Uma espécie de GTA mas com escolha de tipo de clã seria interessante. A preço promocional penso que vale a pena. Em geral gostei.

개인적으론 최근에 나온 블러드라인 2보다 이게 더 재밌는 듯
기본적으론 방 탈출+추리 게임 느낌이라 생각하면 되는데 힌트가 너무 불친절하거나, 길 찾기가 너무 불친절하거나, 너무 지엽적인 문장이나 단어가 힌트여서 막히는 부분이 좀 많긴 하다 난 그냥 공략 보고 함

극초반엔 많이 지루했는데 에멤/갈렙/레이샤 3명 중 파트 선택해서 진행할 수 있게 되는 시점부터 재밌음
에멤 파트는 난 계속 지루했고 갈렙/레이샤는 재밌었음 이 둘을 먼저 하는 거 ㅊㅊ

갈렙의 연속 도미네이트, 레이샤의 비밀이 밝혀지는 순간 <<< 그외에도 기억에 남는 부분들이 많다

하지만 버그가 매우 많고 세이브 날라가는 버그도 있고 번역도 일관성 없는 부분이 많아서 (대표적으로 리차드 던햄을 던햄과 더넘으로 번갈아서 표기) 정가에는 절대 비추천이고 아주 많이 세일할 때 사길

A very cool narrative experience, but it definitely requires some leniency...

What I really really like about Swansong is how well it conveys the VtM universe and the feel of it. Immediately from the get-go you're thrust into an all-hands-on-deck situation where political tensions flare up between the vampire bigwigs, all of whom have distinct personalities and motives. It sets the tone: this game is about navigating vampire politics and no other vampire game has done it so well. This is helped by having three protagonists that are all interesting in their own different ways, the excellent atmosphere and cinematography (especially in the first few chapters) and well done voice acting. The story is tight, the mystery engaging and none of it drags on.

Here's where Swansong gets to be a mixed bag: gameplay is quite alright, if you can forgive the janky controls. Gameplay takes place during short, curated scenes and I prefer this over a sandboxy environment. The skills you can invest in help you but aren't necessary to complete the game if you explore every single nook and cranny. Documents, clues, objects you find can help you navigate a confrontation without having to rely on skills and can even help you in the next scene. This does mean a lot of walking back and forth and combing through environments which can feel tedious with the janky controls. Annoyingly, despite my best efforts, I was locked out of the best ending by simply not having a certain skill high enough -- something the game teaches you doesn't matter as long as you're thorough. Bit of a bummer.

The worst part of Swansong is, however, the character visuals. Camera angles and lighting all looks great but especially animations feel bafflingly stilted and unnatural, at times straight up goofy. Some characters' faces look great while others look like pale dolls with hollow eyes. Leysha was my favourite protag to play but her (facial) animations are the worst of the three. In a game that's so centered on navigating social situations, it ruins immersion to be talking to a soulless wooden face. It definitely feels like the devs ran up against time/budget constraints during this part of the development.

So Swansong feels a little undercooked but its vision and narrative are well worth your time. It certainly made me feel like playing the TTRPG!

Nonostante il gioco sia del 2023, ricorda come meccaniche ed impianto titoli di oltre 10 anni prima... e purtroppo per i motivi sbagliati. La grafica è terribile, animazioni inguardabili e dialoghi privi di una gestione decente. Lo sconsiglio in toto. Adesso entro più nel dettaglio:
- Il gioco è una avventura grafica che scimmiotta titoli quali Heavy rain, Detroit become human, Blacksad, etc (per citarne alcuni rigiocati di recente). Cerca di unire elementi presi dal gioco di ruolo omonimo (abilità etc) con un sistema estremamente rigido e macchinoso basato sul "interagisci con ogni cosa dell'ambiente" e "se hai l'abilità giusta al momento giusto avanzi oppure ti tocca rigiocarti il titolo" (es. se hai potenziato le abilità sui dialoghi non potrai scassinare o viceversa).
- L'aspetto grafico è deprimente... non ho per le mani la storia produttiva del gioco e poco me ne importa, il titolo si presta come "incentrato sulla storia" e il mezzo con cui si veicola è un aspetto orribile (non puntare ad essere realistico se non hai animatori etc capaci), con personaggi che glicciano costantemente, volti al limite del tragicomico (facce alla Mass effect Andromeda, al lancio), dialoghi mediocri che potrebbero salvarsi... se non fosse la tipica "ecco 500 interazioni possibili" ad ogni dialogo, inschippabili (il tasto "salta" va tenuto premuto, quando lo fai salta in modo concatenato tutti i dialoghi e bisogna dosarlo come se su youtube il "vai avanti veloce" mettesse un x30 di velocità che va arrestato con un dito ed imput lag!) e piene zeppe di lore sul (incredibile si) mondo di gioco che però non può essere condensato tutto insieme nelle prime ore di gioco... ho finito il tutorial in oltre un ora e mezza per intenderci, giocando full e con lo scopo di skippare tutto ciò che non fosse necessario! Dopo di ciò ho intrapreso due delle missioni principali con due dei pg principali... dio-mio-che-noia. /SPOILER nella prima missione "libera" ho dovuto perlustrare un appartamento interminabile dove bisognava controllare persino le macchie a terra! ed io adoro anche i giochi lenti eh! Ho giocato alcuni Sherlock holmes dove LETTERALMENTE non potevi fare altro che camminare a 1 metro al minuto ed interagire con tutto l'ambiente.,.. ma almeno aveva senso! Orribile...
- Il Gameplay non è gratificante, è un: "cammina e gira la telecamera per beccare il puntino bianco che permette la interazione"... te la sei persa? in un gioco investigativo, chiamabile tale, perdi una interazione... qui la porta per proseguire non si apre neppure... Poi l'elemento "vampiresco" è costituito da alcune abilità che si attivano solo in certi momenti di trama ed in certi dialoghi e che permettono solo un "hai tot percentuale di completare X interazione di dialogo" quindi non è neppure investigativo-gdr... è solo un costante "tenta la sorte" anche perchè le abilità che magari si potrebbero potenziare od ottenere per la avventura bisogna prenderle a fortuna, non puoi sapere cosa ti servirà o quale il personaggio deciderà di utilizzare.
- Personaggi... uno dei tasti più dolenti! Non devono tutti essere scritti al livello di Baldur's Gate, Divinity, Dispatch, etc... ma nemmeno essere a livello di Concord! E' un gioco BASATO sui dialoghi di personaggi scritti e non creati dal giocatore... posso avere almeno un minimo di ispirazione? Vuoi sapere la lore del pg? Certo! Hai un wall of text nella viki interna al gioco che ne parla! Quando l'ho scoperto mi sono inizialmente rincuorato, mi son detto <<aaah sono pg del mondo narrativo, se non li conosco è colpa mia allora>> (che se anche fosse così si potrebbe discutere eh)... invece sono creati e violentemente buttati nella viki interna e riservata al SOLO videogioco... doloroso. /SPOILER non voglio discutere di woke etc, però abbiamo 1) un personaggio incredibilmente cringe, mi piacerebbe entrare nel dettaglio ma non rispetterei le linee guida di steam. 2) un personaggio piattissimo che mi ricorda un pò Connor di Detroit ma sotto tranquillanti pesantissimi che oltre ad essere lento ed oscuro ha un carattere incredibilmente... lento ed oscuro. 3) un personaggio "decente" incentrato sulle visioni e poteri occulti, poteva benissimo essere la protagonista del gioco e portare un pò di colore a schermo.

Finisco questo incredibile e prolisso discorso con la solita massima... meno giochi lunghi, meno elementi a caso, più costruzione e dettagli di poche ma buone cose (tutto intendo proporzionato al talento / disponibilità economica dello studio produttore) è la chiave per un gioco decente. Qui abbiamo acceso una foresta per grigliare un petto di pollo.

Ich habe mir [B]Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong[/B] für 8,99€ gekauft & gerade eine Rückerstattung beantragt. Ich liebe die World of Darkness & bin aktiver Spieler & Leiter von Settings in 1887 & 2013, daher hatte ich gewisse Erwartungen, wenn auch nicht sehr Hohe.
Das hier ist [B]NICHT DER NACHFOLGER VON BLOODLINES![/B] Viele Rezensionsschreiber scheinen den Unterschied nicht zu kennen, geschweige denn zu wissen, dass die World of Darkness ein riesiges Franchise ist.

[H1]Zu der Handlung...[/H1]
...kann ich zugegebenermaßen nicht viel sagen. Es wird ein sogenannter [I]Code Red[/I] ausgelöst, was alle Kainskinder dazu veranlasst, zurück in das Elysium des Prinzen Hazel zu kehren. Dabei steuern wir abwechselnd [B]drei Protagonisten,[/B] von denen diejenige, die wir zu Beginn überwiegend kontrollieren, mit Abstand das unsympathischste Wesen ist, das mir seit langer Zeit begegnet ist. Sie ist zickig, arrogant, besitzt ein außergewöhnlich vulgäres Vokabular für eine Toreador & ihre sehr originelle Haarpracht clippt andauernd fehlerhaft in ihrer Kleidung.
Dazu gibt es dann noch einen [B]Ventrue[/B] der natürlich die Erhabenheit in Person darstellt & eine [B]Malkavnianerin[/B] die, wie sollte es anders sein, eine verrückte Seherin sein muss, der wenig Glauben geschenkt wird. Soweit so gut.

[H1]Die Grafik...[/H1]
... ist bezogen auf die Gegenstände der Umgebung wirklich angenehm, schauen wir uns die Charaktermodelle an wird es aber schwierig. Die sehen zwar nicht per se schlecht aus, aber die Gestik, Mimik, Lippenbewegungen & Körpersprache wirken so unglaublich steif, das reißt mich förmlich aus den Dialogen raus.
[B]Atmosphäre[/B] hat das Spiel innerhalb des ersten Gebietes schon, es wirkt wie der pompöse Hof eines Prinzen, auch die Guhldiener, die herumstehen & darauf warten getrunken zu werden passen ins Gesamtbild.

[H1]Die Dialoge...[/H1]
... ja, was soll ich sagen, die Dialoge sind schwierig.
Dass der [B]Ventrue[/B] auf der Anhöhe steht & seiner Guhllady erklärt wer die Leute sind, die da im Elysium ein- & ausgehen ergibt Sinn, so bringt man dem Spieler die gewünschten Informationen gut an die Hand.
Dass aber die [B]Malkavianerin[/B] mit ihrem eigenen Kind in der zweiten Szene direkt einen langen Dialog darüber führt, was sie kann, wieso die Umstände so sind wie sie sind & so weiter war ausschließlich Expositionsdialog für den Spieler. Das Kind weiß all diese Dinge(, es sagte sogar 'ja, ich weiß'), spricht Details über ihre Mutter so aus, wie kein Mensch es in einem Dialog tun würde & das wirkt dadurch super künstlich & aufgesetzt.
So etwas passiert leider mehrmals im Spiel & ich habe nur knapp über eine Stunde gespielt.

[H1]Das Hunger- & Fokussystem.[/H1]
Ja, in der V5 haben Vampire Hunger wenn sie Fähigkeiten ausführen & geben nicht mehr das getrunkene Blut aus. Ob sich der Balken nun füllt oder leert, sollte von der Gesamtanzahl der Fähigkeitsnutzungen eigentlich keinen Unterschied machen. Mir wären die V20 Regeln aber trotzdem lieber. Vor allem da ich gerade mal 3-4 Fähigkeitsnutzungen bis zum Ausbrechen des Hungerns wirklich viel zu wenig finde, im TTRPG fühlen sich Vampire da deutlich mächtiger an.
Am Anfang muss man bspw. einmal [B]Auspex (Sinnesschärfe)[/B] aktivieren, das kostet 2 Hungerpunkte. Dann bleibt Auspex die ganze Zeit an, ich kann damit sogar Dialoge belauschen. Kaum stehe ich vor dem nächsten 'Questgegenstand' muss ich aber wieder Auspex für 2 Hungerpunkte aktivieren, obwohl es ja noch aktiviert ist & ich ohne Extrakosten auch Dialoge in der Ferne belauschen konnte. Das ergibt irgendwie wenig Sinn.
Das [B]Fokussystem[/B] habe ich wirklich nicht verstanden. Es verbraucht sich bei gewissen Dialgoptionen automatisch & ich habe bisher keine Möglichkeit gefunden, den Fokus wiederherzustellen.
Selbst bei Dialogen, bei denen die Chance 0% steht verliere ich Fokus wenn ich sie anklicke(, obwohl ich diesen nicht willentlich erhöht habe). Wieso kann ich Dialogoptionen, bei denen ich keinerlei Chance habe sie zu gewinnen überhaupt anklicken? Einfach nur um sinnlos den Fokus zu verlieren? Sogar das Linksklicken in eine zufällige Bildschirmecke hat den Dialog ausgelöst, obwohl ich nicht über diesem expliziten Dialogfenster mit meinem Mauszeiger war. Das sorgte dann dafür, dass ich meine letzten 3 Fokuspunkte verloren hatte & keinerlei Dialogoptionen mehr erfolgreich nutzen konnte, die Fokus voraussetzen.
Ich hätte ja vorher gespeichert & neu geladen aufgrund dieses Fehlers, [B]aber freies Speichern gibt es nicht,[/B] was dann endgültig dafür gesorgt hat, dass ich eine Rückerstattung beantragt habe.
Mechaniken wie das [B]Trinken an Gefäßen[/B] sind jedoch deutlich erklärt. Drücke "F" & trinke. Wenn du nicht drückst oder den Balken füllst ist das Gefäß tot, ein zweites Mal zu trinken tötet es ebenfalls. So einfach.

[H1]Fazit![/H1]
Ich hatte leider keine Freude mit dem Spiel. Vielleicht wäre es nach mehr Zeit etwas geworden, das kann sein, aber dafür packt mich weder die Geschichte, noch die drei Charaktere bis jetzt. Dabei bin ich selbst Malkavianer-Spieler.
50€ ist das Spiel aber ganz sicher nicht wert, für 9€ im Sale könnt ihr es euch aber überlegen, wenn ihr starke World of Darkness Fans seid.
Persönlich hat mir [B]Vampire the Masquerade: Coteries of New York[/B] deutlich besser gefallen, vielleicht eine Alternative für Suchende, denn es ist das einzig andere Textspiel mit deutscher Übersetzung.

Wychodzi na to, że recenzuję grę z cyklu "zagrajmy w crapa", tylko że od razu na początku następuję plot twist i ten crap ma ode mnie ocenę 8-. Tak, tak bardzo mi się podobał Swansong, mimo technicznych braków i niedociągnięć.

Czym jest ta gra? Połączeniem symulatora chodzenia z lekkim RPG, bazującym na papierowym systemie Wampir: Maskarada. Rdzeń gameplayu to chodzenie po lokacjach, przeglądanie i zbieranie różnych przedmiotów oraz rozmowy z NPC. Przypomina to troszkę gry Quantic Dream, Telltale czy DONTNOD. Jednakże ta gra ma więcej gameplayu, ponieważ bazuje na statystykach postaci oraz testach cech i umiejętności. Do celu zawsze prowadzi kilka ścieżek, łatwo jest oblać testy i ponieść porażkę. Gracze narzekają na to, że trzeba mieć określony build i najlepiej grać z poradnikiem. No nie. To jest wierutna bzdura. Tutaj Swansong znajduje się bardzo blisko papierowych erpegów. Przygotowując swoją postać nie wiesz co ją spotka w kolejnej przygodzie prowadzonej przez Mistrza Gry. MG Ci nie powie "a weź, Piotrek, wykup sobie za te expeki Zabezpieczenia, bo za tydzień gramy i tam będzie taki komputer, do którego będziesz się musiał włamać". To byłoby bez sensu. Builda się robi w ciemno, na czuja, wybierając to co wydaje się przydatne, albo to co nam się podoba z opisu. I tak samo się gra w Swansonga. A bo potem się jakiś ważny test nie udaje? Trudno, jak w życiu. Często twórcy pozostawiają inną furtkę, inny sposób poradzenia sobie z trudną sytuacją. Taka konstrukcja gry dodaje regrywalności, można sobie później inaczej przygotować postaci i spróbować sprostać wyzwaniu w inny sposób. Albo można zwyczajnie ponieść porażkę i się z nią pogodzić i grać dalej. Wydaje mi się, że problem z tym mają tylko jacyś min-maxerzy, którzy koniecznie chcą zrobić wszystko i odnieść zwycięstwo w każdej sytuacji. A dla mnie niepewność oraz porażki są atutem gry, a nie jej wadą.

Jak już mówię o różnych ścieżkach do celu, to warto nadmienić, że w tej grze znajdziemy szereg zagadek, a twórcy nie podają rozwiązań na tacy i szanują inteligencję gracza. Z reguły dostajemy ogólny cel, np "muszę dostać się do tego pokoju", "muszę poznać tożsamość celu". I nas z tym zostawiają. Należy eksplorować lokacje, wszystko czytać, rozmawiać z NPC i składać to do kupy aż nam szczegóły układanki wskoczą na swoje miejsce albo wydedukujemy coś np ze znalezionych notatek. Daje to prawdziwą satysfakcję z rozwiązania takiej zagadki i pchnięcia gry do przodu. Najczęściej nie ma jednego rozwiązania, tylko kilka alternatywnych. Po każdym ukończonym poziomie dostajemy krókie podsumowanie tego co nam się udało zrobić, czego nam się nie udało zrobić oraz wskazówki dotyczące alternatywnych rozwiązań (czegoś, co można było zrobić inaczej), więc nic nie stoi na przeszkodzie, żeby sobie takie etapy powtarzać. Trochę przeszkadza w tym system zapisu bazujący na checkpointach, niestety ręcznie nie możemy zapisywać gry. Domyślam się, że miało to wytworzyć presję i napięcie oraz nieść ze sobą konsekwencje dotyczące naszych działań i wyborów, ale ja bym jednak wolał móc w (niemal) dowolnym momencie móc zapisywać i ładować grę. Są za to dostępne trzy sloty i da się zmienić aktywny slot w trakcie gry, tak że np. możemy rozwiązać jakąś scenę w jeden sposób, robi się sejw (checkpoint) i możemy teraz przełączyć się na inne miejsce zapisu, wczytać tę scenę (poziom), którą już przeszliśmy i zagrać inaczej nie nadpisując poprzedniego sejwa.

W grze dostajemy trzy grywalne postaci (Leysha z klanu Malkavian, Galeb z klanu Ventrue oraz Emem z klanu Toreador). Każdą gra się trochę inaczej, bo każda posiada inne umiejętności, więc spotyka się z innymi wyzwaniami. Leysha doświadcza wizji, umie stawać się niewidzialną dla ludzi oraz przejmować wygląd i tożsamość innych. Emem jest bardzo zwinna i potrafi przemieszczać się na większe dystanse umiejętnością przypominającą Blink, którym posługiwał się Corvo w Dishonored. Galeb to Ventrue chodzący w garniaku, bardzo dystyngowany i opanowany, ale jednocześnie jest egzekutorem, który na zlecenie swojego Księcia zlikwidował już liczne cele (w tym inne wampiry), więc potrafi i porozmawiać i zastraszyć, a w razie potrzeby mógłby walczyć.

Oprócz tego łażenia i zbierania przedmiotów mamy rozmowy z NPC jak w innych grach, natomiast z dodatkową mechaniką, chyba wywodzącą się z papierowego Wampira, tj. konfrontacjami. Czasem zdarza się trudny rozmówca, którego musimy do czegoś nakłonić i wówczas odpala się tryb konfrontacji, czyli takiego słownego starcia podzielonego na kilka sekcji, często z limitem porażek, które wolno nam ponieść zanim przegramy konfrontację. Czyli np masz dialog, 5 sekcji i możesz popełnić 2 błędy.

Nasz(a) bohater(ka) (o tym za chwilę) ma dwie pule punktów. Jedna służy do wykorzystywania zwyczajnych umiejętności, takich jak Perswazja czy Zastraszanie, a druga związana jest z wampirycznymi mocami (Dyscypliny). Ta pierwsza startuje z maksymalnego pułapu, a wykorzystywanie umiejętności ją opróżnia, a ta druga startuje od zera i rośnie do 12. Odzwierciedla to głód krwi, po osiągnięciu maksymalnego poziomu głodu władzę nad wampirem może przejąć Bestia, czyli wewnętrzna natura, która zamienia wampira w żądną krwi... no, Bestię... i może prowadzić do zezwierzęcenia (feral). Tego należy unikać, głód można zaspokoić wypijając krew ludzkiej ofiary, żrąc szczury (ciekawostka -- jeden z bohaterów, będący członkiem klanu Ventrue, odmawia takiego działania -- spodobało mi się to, bo pasuje do lore, Ventrue się tak nie upodli) czy pijąc krew z innych źródeł (np. z torebki :D ).

Wracając do konfrontacji. Podczas tych dialogów można korzystać z umiejętności (np. Perswazja, Zastraszanie, etc.) oraz Dyscyplin. W tym celu potrzebne nam są odpowiednio rozwinięte cechy postaci oraz wykupione upgrejdy Dyscyplin. Tutaj ludzie jęczą, że trzeba grać z poradnikiem, bo oni NIE WIEDZIELI, że w siódmej godzinie gry potrzebne im będzie taka a taka umiejętność. No nie. Ja się z tym nie zgadzam. Nie masz umiejętności wymaganej do testu, to robisz co innego, albo failujesz i dilujesz z tym. Gra się nie kończy. A że nie zawsze się wygrywa? Jak w życiu.

Gra opowiada interesującą historię i ma bardzo obszerne lore. W grze znajduje się kodeks, w którym możemy zaznajomić się z terminami ze świata Wampira: Maskarady oraz opisami poszczególnych frakcji, postaci czy miejsc. Tutaj największy minus gry, dotyczący warstwy technicznej -- czcionka jest maciupeńka i nie da się nic z tym zrobić. Grając na Steam Decku musiałem cały czas korzystać z systemowej lupy.

Jak już jestem przy Steam Decku, to dodam, że gra działa bardzo dobrze z lockiem na 30fps, na wysokich ustawieniach. Przeszedłem na tym sprzęcie całą grę.

Czaiłem się z tą grą kilka lat, kiedyś była nawet w Plusie, ale zniechęcały mnie kiepskie opinie. A wyszło jak wyszło. Mam zupełnie inne wrażenia, dla mnie to bardzo dobry tytuł i im bliżej końca gry byłem, tym bardziej rosła moja ocena. Ostatecznie daję 8-/10 i polecam!

I absolutely loved the story, but this game was a pain to play. The slightest mistake and you have to restart the entire scene (sometimes wasting 3 hours), and double-check EVERY clue you've already checked. To avoid this: Alt+F4, and you'll return to just before your last action (so there are autosaves, but you have to break the game to use them :D). With this trick, it was still frustrating sometimes, but playable.

I still recommand it for the story if you like investigation/puzzle game and vampires ofc.

Como primera vez en la historia de "La mascarada" ésta parecía interesante. También me he ido aficionando a las "ficciones interactivas" como por ejemplo las series de Telltale como las basadas en 'Batman' las cuales en su versión shadows, sí me hicieron estar pegado al mando para ver que ocurría, y ello sin ser un fan del mencionado personaje, más bien todo lo contrario, me encantaron.

En el caso de que nos ocupa de la canción del cisne me arriesgué y ... fallé ...

La historia aunque como he dicho interesante estaría "dentro de lo típico" del género vampírico. No se si es porque me han dado "grima" los personajes, con marcado sesgo ideológico, la forma de contar la historia que "te sueltan" de golpe sin una introducción cinemática que te enganche, el sistema 'extraño' de progresión del personaje o la lentitud en el avance de la historia, que después de hora y media de juego, sin pena ni gloria, lo dejas, pasa el tiempo y lo terminas guardando en el baúl de las desinstalaciones pensando en no saber si algún día lo retomarás ... lo más probable es que termine olvidando su existencia y que coja polvo en la estantería virtual de steam ...

Supongo que el juego es demasiado de "nicho" y no para iniciados ... Al final me decanté por no recomendarlo..

Мне понравилась: играть интересно, персонажи хорошо проработаны, детективная история интересная, большая вариативность. Помимо ходьбы и чтения документов и диалогов есть интересные решения для разнообразия геймплея: разные головоломки, участки со стелсом, дисциплины персонажей влияют на геймплей.
Понятно, что жанр детективного квеста не всем зайдет и бюджет у игры видимо не большой - есть проблемы с анимациями, встречаются некритичные баги, пару раз зацеплялась за коллизии или софтлочилась где-то. Но играть это не мешает и из погружения не выбивает.
Локализация приемлемая, местами есть косяки, но смысл в основном верно передан.

[b]「融通の利かないゲームマスター（GM）」と遊ぶことの窮屈さ。[/b]

本作をプレイすると、TRPGという媒体をビデオゲームに移植することがいかに困難（あるいは不可能）であるかを痛感させられる。
本来、TRPGの醍醐味は「自由な発想」と、それを裁定する生身のGM（ゲームマスター）による「柔軟な対応」にある。プレイヤーが突飛な提案をしても、GMが面白ければ採用されるライブ感が魅力なのだ。

しかし、本作のGMはコンピューターだ。プログラムされた「正解」以外は一切認めない。会話スキルを使って情報を引き出そうとしても、「ステータスが1足りない」あるいは「消費するポイントが尽きた」という理由だけで、冷淡に失敗判定が下される。プレイヤーは吸血鬼としての能力（訓えてカッコよく振る舞いたいのに、常にリソース管理というシステムに縛られ、「ここではポイントを温存すべきか？」という事務的な計算を強いられる。

結果として、物語体験を楽しむはずのアドベンチャーゲームが、正解のルートを探すだけの「窮屈な作業」に成り下がってしまっている。世界観の再現度は高いが、TRPGの「ガワ」だけを模倣し、「魂（自由度）」を置き忘れてしまった、典型的な失敗例と言わざるを得ない。

【GOOD】
・『Vampire: The Masquerade』の複雑怪奇な用語や政治構造、陰鬱なボストンの雰囲気を忠実に再現しており、原作ファンにとっては資料的価値が高い。
・3人の主人公が持つ異なる吸血鬼の能力（透明化、瞬間移動、支配など）を使って探索するアイデア自体は、キャラクターの個性を表現できていて面白い。

【BAD】
・「TRPGのシステム」をそのままビデオゲームに持ち込んだ弊害。柔軟性のないスキル判定やリソース管理が、会話への没入感を削ぎ、ただのストレス要因になっている。
・レベルデザインが不親切で、どこに行けばいいのか、何を探せばいいのか分からず、同じ場所を何度も彷徨うことになるテンポの悪さ。

От игры остались очень смешанные чувства. На середине игры чуть не бросил её из-за багов, ломающих прохождение. Игра сделана странно - начиная от системы прокачки (которая влияет в основном на диалоги, сразу очень тяжело разобраться, что качать, без гайдов и перезапуска игры не получилось разобраться, что реально пригодится и что нужно качать) и заканчивая плохо сделанными лицевыми анимациями, багами и тягучестью повествования. Отдельный котёл для тех, кто сделал систему чекпоинтов - когда хочешь что-то переиграть, сцена начинается с самого начала.

В игре очень много лора, который подаётся в записках и кодексе, но большая часть информации там мусорная и её смело можно пропускать. К тому же сюжет такой, что вампиров можно было заменить на какое-нибудь тайное общество культистов и особо ничего не поменялось бы.

Похвалы заслуживает в целом интересный сюжет и очень круто сделанные локации - дизайн и интерьеры очень атмосферные. Прошёл игру только из-за того, что было интересно, чем закончится.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong is a game that’s been out for a few years now, but it definitely deserves more recognition than it got. Set in the Vampire: The Masquerade universe, its greatest strength is, without question, its story — well written, engaging, and very faithful to the tabletop RPG’s core themes.

The gameplay is slower and can feel a bit clunky at times. This is not an action-driven game. Combat is minimal, and most of the experience revolves around dialogue, player choices, investigation, and the use of narrative and social skills. Personally, I see this as a major positive. The game understands that Vampire is about politics, tension, secrets, and consequences — not constant fighting.

While playing, I often felt that Swansong could have been a perfect Bloodlines 2. With a slightly more open world, some side quests, and a bit more structural freedom, it could easily stand as a true successor. The foundation is all there: strong characters, compelling conflicts, and excellent atmosphere. The third-person perspective works well and gives the game its own identity.

I didn’t experience any major bugs or technical issues. This is a more relaxed, dialogue-heavy game that rewards patience and attention — which, in my opinion, fits an RPG like this far better than nonstop action.

If you’re a Vampire: The Masquerade fan, this game is absolutely worth playing. Even for newcomers, it offers a mature, well-crafted narrative experience that stands out from the crowd. Honestly, more people should give Swansong a chance.

I understand why the reviews are mixed. I bought this game because it takes place in the World of Darkness, which I love so much. The dialogue-based combat system surprised me quite a bit, and it's rather well done. That said, I regret that there aren't any physical fights in addition to the dialogue.
I enjoyed playing as these three centuries-old vampires.
I was particularly taken with Leysha, even though of all the characters I thought she'd be the one I'd like the least… a pleasant surprise, then, this Malkavian.
Galeb is my second favorite; I loved his story arc and the whole imperial, BAMF vibe that comes through. A true Ventrue in action.
Then there's Emem, who I liked the least because I didn't connect with her personality and behavior in general.
I really enjoyed the storyline of this Swansong; I appreciated discovering all the story arcs (not necessarily for the same reasons) as well as the other characters.
The skill selection system is a bit peculiar. It requires careful consideration, but some skills are completely useless, and I don't even understand why they were included.
As I mentioned earlier, I sometimes consulted a soluce because I was lost and didn't know what to do next, which is a significant drawback.
In short, I had a good time with Swansong, and some of the choices I made came back to bite me quite badly, which is a great thing for this type of game. :)

Je comprends que les reviews soient mitigées. J’ai acheté ce jeu car il se déroule dans le World of Darkness que j’aime tant. Le système de combat par les dialogues m’a assez surpris, et c’est plutôt bien fait. Cela dit je regrette qu’il n’y ait pas de combats physiques en plus des dialogues.
J’ai apprécié incarner ces 3 vampires centenaires.
J’ai eu un coup de coeur pour Leysha, alors que de tous les persos je pensais que c’est elle que j’aimerai le moins… une bonne surprise, donc, que cette Malkavienne.
Galeb est mon second favori, j’ai adoré son arc narratif et tout le côté impérial et BAMF qui en ressort. Un véritable Ventrue en action.
Ensuite il y a Emem, qui est celle que j’ai le moins apprécié parce que j’ai moins accroché à sa personnalité et son comportement en général.
Le scnénario m'a beaucoup plu, j'ai apprécié découvrir tous les arcs narratifs (pas forcément pour les mêmes raisons) ainsi que les autres personnages.
La sélection des compétences est quelque chose d’un peu particulier. Il faut bien y réfléchir, mais certaines sont parfaitement inutiles et je ne comprends même pas pourquoi elles ont été proposées.
Comme je l’ai dit plus haut j’ai parfois regardé une soluce car j’étais perdue et je ne savais plus quoi faire pour avancer, ce qui est un point négatif à ne pas négliger.
En bref, j’ai passé du bon temps sur ce Swansong, et certains choix que j’ai fait me sont revenus à la gueule assez méchamment, ce qui est un excellent point à noter pour ce type de jeu. :)

Currently I am about halfway into the game. This game got some very mixed reviews - but I love it! Yes, the graphics are often not spot on or even clumsy, I don't care about that though. I do care about the characters, the atmosphere and the plot, and those are all great! I didn't have the time to play RPG's for a while now, but this game gives a good running as the next best substitute.

J'ai testé Vampire Swansong dans une volonté de me faire tout les jeux de la franchise. J'ai commencé l'aventure en 2004 avec Vampire Bloodline. J'avais 17 ans et je ne comprenais rien à cet univers sombre. Je n'avais même pas conscience de l'univers du jeu de rôle papier. Pourtant la rejouabillité du jeu de Troika game m'avait séduit, le ton et le lore aussi bien qu'encore flou.

c'est au alentour de mes 30 ans que j'ai commencé à m'intéresser à l'univer Vampire. A faire du jeu de rôle sur table et même en grandeur nature. J'espérais beaucoup un Bloodline 2. Et c'est en 2022 que j'ia cru qu'il était enfin là, naissant sous le nom de code Swannsong.

Et bien ce n'est pas un Bloodline 2. Si vous avez jouer aux visual novel "la coterie de NY" ou d'autre. Hé bien c'est ce genre de jeu en 3D avec un peu de gameplay. Ici pas de création de personnage, pas de choix dans les clans ou de semi-liberté dans une ville crasseuse. Non, ici on raconte une histoire.

C'est un jeu lent, avec un gameplay lent. N'y jouer pas en espérant le torcher d'un trait. Swannsong à un scénario intéressant, qui a très bien saisit l'ambiance et la saveur de l'univers de Vampire. Tout y est, la mesquinerie, les coups tordues, la manipulation, les alliances fragiles, les coups de théâtre. Boston est une ville dont l'activité nocturne est sale sous un vernie de richesse.

Vous allez suivre des scènes, des étapes en incarnant tour à tour : Emem Louis, une Toréador vive avec un caractère bien trempé. - Galeb Bazory, Un ventrue ancien de 10éme génération déchiré entre l'appel des anciens et sa loyauté à la cour de Boston, assumant pleinement sa nature de monstre sophistiqué et philosophe et enfin Leisha : Une Malkavienne surprenante, suivie par un psy qui essaye d'exploiter au mieux ses pouvoir pour la camarilla.

Au début, le jeu diplomatique et enquête peux décourager les gamers nerveux (d'ailleurs je ne leur recommande pas. Swannsong, c'est comme lire un roman. Il faut être patient, comprendre ce qu'on lit, faire des déduction, réfléchir à la situation afin de faire vos choix. Car oui, des choix il y en aura.

Le jeu respecte un point intéréssant : Les choix ne sont jamais évident et il y a toujours (bon ok, à 80%) des conséquence. Je ne dirais pas que je rejouerai l'histoire pour voir toute les fins, mais au moins, j'ai la satisfaction de voir les résultats de mes décisions sur la Camarilla de Boston.

Bref, je trouve qu'on peut laisser sa chance à Swannsong. C'est un véritable scénario de jeu de rôle sur table, transcrit dans un jeu particulier. Il respecte le Lore, il challenge ses joueur (et leur patience xD) et si vous tenez le coup lors du premier tableau à la cour du Prince, en avançant dans l'histoire. vous pourriez bien être mordu.

Je résume :
Bieeeeeen :
- Respecte l'univer de Vampire
- A un scénario très sympa
- Les 3 personnages sont attachant derrière leur physique de poupée de porcelaine
- A un gameplay simpliste qui tourne autour de l'utilisation de vos pouvoirs/compétences régulé par votre soif de sang pour l'un, et vos point de volonté pour l'autre. Très similaire au jdr.

Paaaaas biiiiien :
- Lent , déplacement des personnages, progression et même parfois discours des personnages. (mais ça reste subjectif, si vous aimer prendre votre temps, vous ne le verrez pas)
- Pas de combat. Les combats se font par des "confrontation", des textes à choix impliquant le niveau de vos compétences et de vos pouvoirs, ou encore des informations que vous avez découvert en jeu. Si combat il y a , il est résolu automatiquement sans QTE en consultant votre fiche et en l'évaluant par rapport à la difficulté de la situation. Donc soyez prudent dans vos choix, surtout en fin de jeu.
- Il manque l'exploration libre et le créateur de personnage. Mais bon... ce ne serait pas du tout le même jeu avec ça.

This is more of a PSA than a review.

When on the pause menu, there's a big button that says Restart. I, being a foolish new player, believed this would restart the scene I was in as I hadn't really understood one of the mechanics until after a dialogue where I could have used it (the passive discipline toggle).

Instead, I restarted the whole game, losing an hour and a half of progress for it. Don't be like me, but I feel like the game should be a bit more transparent that when they said 'scene' they meant 'the entire game so far'.

Outside of that, I've enjoyed it so far, although for a game that is 90% dialogue between talking heads, some of the character models are... not great, distractingly so.

Я начинал эту игру наверное раза три и каждый раз бросал примерно на алом салоне, но вот я прошел второй бладлайнс и решил для общего развития всё таки добить Свансонг. К моему великому удивлению оказалась что игра намного глубже и интереснее чем мне казалось на первый взгляд, выборов в игре процентов на 80 больше чем во втором бладлайнсе, выборы очень сильно влияют на сюжет и многие персонажи могут не дожить до финала, плюс есть персонаж который может исполнить предсказания Лейши. Это я всё к чему ? К тому что игру не очень заслуженно захейтили и если вы сейчас хотите пройти очень интересную детективную историю с приятными персонажами, то советую ознакомиться

Disclosure: I got this for $6. Wait for a sale even if you're a fan. The story assumes you know some vampire the masquerade lore, so I recommend finding a summary before playing.

The story, the detective work, the atmosphere and worldbuilding appeal to me as a casual fan, but I have mixed feelings about the mechanics. The story itself is gamified and unfolds based on your use of vampire powers true to the source material. However, design flaws like the unbalanced stats (stats with literally no use), bugs, save system and arbitrary resource requirements can interrupt the story's flow, and make your failures a matter of pure trial and error. Unless you can live with that, playing with a guide is recommended. Aside from that, it's a vampire the masquerade story first. Despite being told through stiff animations and hit or miss voice acting, the story succeeds at connecting 3 characters that grew on me, and builds up to some fairly interesting decisions.

Да простят меня фанаты первого Бладлайнза, но Свенсонг - это лучшая адаптация НРИ по Маскараду, которая существует.
Да, не экшен-РПГ. Да, нет боёвки. Да, нет канализации и множества кланов.
НО! Атмосфера предательства от каждой стенки, глубина всех персонажей, планы внутри планов - именно это является базовым минимумом игры по Вампирскому Маскараду. Свенсонг возвращает меня в воспоминания, как мы с друзьями играли в Мир Тьмы за столом, где каждый имел огромную майндмапу со списком НПС, сведениями о них и компроматом.

Лебединая песнь не стесняется отказаться от желания угодить всем фанатам сеттинга и просто рассказывает небольшую историю из не-жизни одной ячейки Камарильи. Будто это одна кампания из множества. Мне кажется, что именно такими должны быть игры по Маскараду - обычными историями. С заданными персонажами, с хорошей драматургией и глубиной второстепенных героев.

История отлично рассказана. В ней есть место для интерпретаций. Много заговоров, лжи. Довольно сложно пройти всю игру и не упустить ни одного секрета.

Fiquei feliz ao descobrir que Swansong foi desenvolvido pela Big Bad Wolf. Tendo gostado bastante de The Council, jogo da mesma desenvolvedora, pelo estilo, experiência narrativa e personagens, esperava encontrar aqui um avanço considerável em jogabilidade, com a mesma qualidade de história.

Ainda que ambos os jogos sejam semelhantes em termos de mecânica, em Swansong nos deparamos com uma gameplay EXTREMAMENTE travada e bugada, uma queda drástica em todos os aspectos.

Os bugs são muitos e muito graves:
- A função básica de resetar cenas não funciona: ao clicar nesta opção, além de vc continuar na mesma cena, seu inventário é esvaziado e toda sua árvore de disciplinas e perícias fica zerada (vc perde os pontos também).
- Em certas cenas vc precisa tomar cuidado ao mexer em certos itens, ou realizar certas ações, caso contrario: soft lock.
- A mecânica de saves é pífia, fazendo com que vc tenha que usar truques pra voltar a certo ponto no jogo.

Além dos citados acima, temos problemas de audio (às vezes um personagem fala e não sai voz), mecânicas de diálogo duvidosas, movimentação de personagens travadas e muito mais. Pra quem gosta de passar raiva, aqui temos um prato cheio.

Muitas informações cruciais pro entendimento da história são espalhadas pelas cenas, são muitos papéis, livros e arquivos pra ler, e até aí tudo bem. O problema é que, com tanta informação, vc se perde e o jogo não fornece nenhum tipo de ajuda pra guardar esse conhecimento, nem mesmo nos permitindo coletar esses documentos.

Apesar de tudo, me forcei a jogar até o final pela história do jogo, que é sim muito boa. Porém, nem mesmo uma história bem construída foi capaz de redimir as falhas graves que encontramos aqui.

Pretendia platinar após finalizar a run, mas meus níveis de cortisol já estavam nas alturas, e quando descobri que tinha [url=steamcommunity.com/app/1299510/discussions/0/3810655055427648855/] bug até nos achievements [/url] larguei pra lá.

Анимации абсолютно прокляты и ужасны, походки как из Сан Андреас, порой непонятно какую эмоцию пытается выпучить персонаж, местами прорисовка героев в стиле симс просто смешна и это очень сильно ломает погружение. Хорошо что глаза отвлекаются на субтитры и на дизайн локаций. А в остальном хорошо, атмосфера и стиль вампирского маскарада чувствуется. Про повествование пока сложно судить но подача так себе, потому что забрасывают играть за героя без должной экспозиции и объяснений кто он и что он. Как ему при этом сопереживать, как ассоциировать с собой и почему мне на него не должно быть все равно - непонятно. Откуда знать что отвечать и какой мотив у героя в диалогах явно намекающих на характер и историю персонажа, если в нее не посвятили? В общем кривовато и топорно многое сделано, а ну и конечно же баги и глюки, благо пока попадались лишь графические. Но в целом все равно интересно хоть и местами нелепо.

Атмосфера передана хорошо - попавших в паутину внешних угроз, придворных интриг и личной борьбы.
Главные герои хорошо прописаны. Каждый из них привносит в историю свою точку зрения и моральный тон.
Графика не плохая. Текстуры в целом хорошие, но анимации местами, будто она из игры десятилетней давности. Это заметно, но не критично.
Ваши решения и расследования действительно имеют значение. Решения имеют реальные последствия, и игра отлично отражает то, как ваши действия формируют сюжет...
Атмосферный сюжет с увлекательными персонажами...

This is my Introduction to the Vampire: The Masquerade world and I can say I wasn't disappointed, I might play Bloodlines 2 but I haven't heard good things.

I thoroughly enjoyed playing swansong and playing as our three main characters. Now keep in mind that quite a bit of the game is bugged but if you use online guides to help you can enjoy the game the way its supposed to be. I don't recommend free ranging your way through the game too much because the game will soft-lock at a certain point and the story will not progress.
I got soft-locked on scene 4 during the blood puzzle with Emem trying to get to floor 5 but luckily it was just a secret scene and didn't prevent me from completing the game or hinder the story overall (although you do miss out on a badge and Kurt :(.....). The graphics are mediocre at best on pc.
Note: Be wary of the restart button because it could bug your save and you'll have to overwrite that save and restart the scene over. I know this sounds like a lot of dislikes but again I want to reiterate that I enjoyed playing swansong and I'm sad that I completed the game so soon. Take your time because if you don't have the patience to overwrite a scene and replay it multiple times then this isn't for you.

The story seems ok so far and I kind of like the detective aspect of it but overall this game is a no for me, I'll revisit this review when I've played a bit more
Yeah, I gave up on it, came across a bug where it wouldn't let me imitate an agents outfit so I was stuck on that level

Самая точная реализация работы Камариллы и двора Принца города, что я видел. Другие игры по VtM посылали эти нюансы почти полностью, а здесь стараются следовать. Интересные персонажи, сюжет, хорошая драматургия. Возможность ролеплея, да еще и с последствиями. Последнего никак не ожидал от этой игры.
Техническая сторона хромает как и в The Council.

A játékot a Big Bad Wolf fejlesztette, ők a Cyanide alá tartoznak (nekik köszönhetjük a Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood-ot). Bostonban járunk, ahol a helyi vámpírtársadalmat támadás érte, ezért a Herceg elrendeli a vészhelyzetet. Hamarosan kiderül, hogy a Második Inkvizíció áll a háttérben, akik meg akarnak szabadulni a városban az összes vérszívótól. A Swansong egy történetközpontú szerepjáték, aminek a játékmenete a Telltale Games játékaira emlékezetet. Nagyrészt nyomozunk, dokumentumokat és egyéb nyomokat keresünk, amivel előrébb vihetjük a történetet és az npc-kel a párbeszédeket. Tárgyakból akadnak használatiak is, ezek vagy a vér, vagy az akaratpontjainkat töltik vissza, esetleg rövid ideig megnövelik valamelyik képességünket. Fegyverekre ne is számítsunk, harc is csak akkor van, ha a történet úgy alakul. Ilyenkor is legjobb esetben lopakodásból támadhatunk. Fejtörök is akadnak bőven, ezzel is növelve a kihívást. Ami érdekessége a játéknak, hogy három különböző karaktert is irányíthatunk, mindegyiknek saját epizódjai vannak és ezzel együtt saját kis története. Ezzel elérkeztünk a játék legerősebb részéhez, a karakterekhez. A három főszereplő, Emem, Galeb és Leysha. Leysha egy Malkavita lány, aki nemrég szabadult a helyi vámpír Arkham Asylumból. Lánya állandóan körülötte forog, akit a többiek vagy látnak, vagy nem. A Herceg a prófétikus képességeit szeretné maga mellett tudni. Galeb a legöregebb vámpír Bostonban, és a Herceg végrehajtója. Ventrue, de visszafogott a hataloméhsége. Egy új gyermeket szeretne magához ölelni, de ehhez a Herceg engedélyére van szükség, és amíg háborúshelyzet van, addig biztos, hogy nem kapja meg. Az előző gyermeke Boston egyik primogénje, és nem ápolnak felhőtlen viszonyt. Emem egy aránylag ifjú Toreador, aki feljebb szeretne jutni a ranglétrán, és végleg elszakadni a nemzőjétől. Hármasunk közül ő a legkevésbé érdekes, viszont onnantól, hogy a Tremere-k babrálnak a memóriájával az ő karaktere is elkezd felnőni a többiekéhez. Én Galebet bírtam a legjobban, a maga hűvös profizmusával és egyeneségével nagyon szimpatikus volt! De mindegyiküknek érdekes a története. A mellékszereplők se maradnak el, főleg az inkvizíció vezetője volt emlékezetes. Igaz Hittel rendelkezik, ami azt jelenti, hogy a vámpírok a közelébe nem nagyon tudnak menni, nemhogy ártani neki. Mint mondtam szerepjáték, így az epizódok után kapott tapasztalati pontjainkat eloszthatjuk Tulajdonságaink, Képességeink és a Diszciplínáink között. A legtöbbnek a párbeszédekhez van köze, egy-két kivételtől eltekintve. A Diszciplínák (vámpír képességek) is a párbeszédet segítik (uralom), de van, ami a nyomkeresést, és akad, ami a továbbjutáshoz kell (gyorsaság, lopakodás, ezeket értelemszerűen alapból megkapjuk, csak lehet fejleszteni őket). Sok morális döntést hozhatunk, amik sosem egyértelműen jók vagy rosszak. Olykor ezek a többi karakterre is hatással vannak, ami nagyon megdobja az élményt! Jó szerepjátékhoz méltóan többféle befejezést tudunk megnyitni. (Akár olyat is, hogy mindhárom karakterünket utolérte a végső halál!) Zeneileg se rossz, de azért senki ne várjon Bloodlines szintet. Ez igazából az egész játékról elmondható, és akkor még kellemes meglepetésként is érhet!

Took me while to complete it one time, 39hours of lazy gaming:)
What i liked the most is the detective story (mix of 3 characters which i was role playing), and the scenes , visually pleasing, detailed, grim.
I would say this game is not a classical rpg, but rather a mix of visual novel + exploration + detective story.
Most of its content comes from us investigating various places for clues, etc. Which i personally like a lot.
The game would also push you into making choices, and due to chapters are pretty long - i would recommend not to restart those chapters (restart does so from the beginning of the chapter(!)). Eventually you will make it till the end, and the stakes will be high to fail due to some questionable decisions.

There are two acts, which are the first and third that count as all 3 characters as once - so if you reset from start menu, you could rollback 2 hours and be stuck with that mistake. That aside I wish it was longer, because I've been loving it so much. Apart from one of Emem's chapters, which kills the pacing.

Last act was a bit bad though. Very railroady and I just wasn't into it at all. At least the ending was okay.

Thank you for an excellent game with a wonderful plot! I spent a nice time in it, even if I could not solve a few of your mysteries without the guide's help, but the story is excellent, the main characters are very deep and different, and the choices were so hard. Faces animation, which was mentioned here so often, is really not at its best level, but the atmosphere you made makes this not really matter. I would love to make it again with another choices to see what will happen after. It is a must-play if you like vampire stories!

J'ai bien aimé le système de pouvoir
Il y a plusieurs fins possible, c'est cool et ça redonne envie de faire une autre run pour voir d'autre fins

Les seuls reproches, c'est qu'on ne peut pas régler la sensi de la souris et parfois c'est pénible pour se déplacer parce-que la caméra part en cacahuète

Et que j'ai acheté le DLC pour les skins , sauf que je n'ai jamais su où trouver ces fameux skins là en jeu

一応おすすめにしておくけど正直微妙なところ…

まずグラフィックが2023年発売にしては旧旧旧時代過ぎる
そして冒頭から色んな人物の名前や組織の事情、システムの説明などが次々に出てきて頭が全く付いていかない
なおかつプレイヤーが動かす人物が1人だけではないので更に訳が分からなくなる
「このキャラのこと全然分からん…まぁこれからか…え、切り替わるの？あなた誰？さっきの人は？？」
という感情しかなくなる

これらに問題なく付いて行ける人はマルチエンディング系らしいのでおもしろいのかもしれない
自分としてはセールで3桁購入でなければ返品していたと思う

Популярность нетрадиционных отношений. Почти все персонажи уродливы, за исключением двух, которые получились более менее. Реиграбельность есть, но разработчики убили её не добавив новую игру+ с сохранением опыта. Стелс уровень, серьёздно? Обязательно было добавлять его?

I love this game. I know people complain that you can’t just save at any time even tho the game saves constantly but that’s because they want to be able to save so when they answer something wrong or make the wrong choice they can go back and CHEAT by changing their choice instead of moving on and seeing what happens , also people complain about certain options being not good for your character based on their skill points and it’s like duh this is an rpg your character personality and skills shapes the story like do you even know what you’re playing ? Ya know. I can see why [i]Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong[/i] has a Mixed review. I mean, I don't agree, but I see why! First off, it's janky. Even two years after launch, I encountered (minor) noticeable bugs. Others had the misfortune to encounter game-breaking bugs or soft locks. Second, the voice acting and animations are a bit strange. The environments are beautiful, and the voice acting is largely competent, but there's a certain woodenness in both aspects of performance. Third, the stat checks can be opaque and punishing. However, I loved and embraced the jank anyway because of [i] Vampire's[/i] terrific writing and atmosphere. If you're fine with using a guide, I recommend picking this up on a deep sale. (And a HUGE thank you to the devs for giving me a free copy!)

✅ [b]Writing.[/b] While I haven't played the original, I [i]loved[/i] the portrayal of vampires here. The vampires are awful. C*nty and c*nt. Just rancid, monstrous, razor-edged little tyrants wrapped in designer coats and emotional trauma. The Boston Court is a snake pit full of backstabbers who both genuinely believe they should rule the world, and that they’re the victims. Most of the cast are charismatic as hell, so charismatic I fully believed in these monsters. Yeah, they were arrogant and cruel, but at least they drink blood from consensual victims! So they can't be all that bad! Weeeell, these vampires have quite the penchant for mind control and betrayal, which results in them becoming the prey themselves. Am I supposed to root for the humans or the vampires? Who is the true monster?

✅ [b] Three protagonists.[/b] I don't mind having more than one protagonist, though I always wonder if the writer can juggle three different plotlines equally. To my great delight, they did! Each vampire you play as has their own motivations, attitude, and powers. Galeb (my favorite) is the Prince's enforcer. What she dreams, he builds. He's my favorite because he just gets sh*t done. I thought Leysha was boring, but her plot twist(s) were brilliant, and she had the most interesting powers. (She has cool but vague visions of the future.) Emem was my least favorite—partly because I didn't like her name—because she's the more headstrong, emotional go-getter of the three. But as one character's scene ended, I was itching to get to the next one. The feeling of tension is neatly threaded into the timeline. Some of the best moments was when all three were at the same place at the same time. Hazel and Hilda are fascinating in that “I want you dead but also I am sorta attracted to you” way.

✅ [b]Vampire powers are so cool.[/b] You can Dominate people's will; you can Blink or teleport long distances; you can see premonitions; you can turn invisible, etc. And all these powers affect your gameplay, making it easier to investigate!

✅ [b] Choices matter.[/b] Honestly, I was impressed by how your choices do matter. For example, [spoiler]I wanted to be merciful, so I set a vampire prisoner free. This, in turn, backfired, as Mr. Vampire had quite the grudge against my Prince. If you don't pass a Confrontation, he'll kill you.[/spoiler] There are a couple Telltale-esque moments where you only have time for one option or one choice—and both have consequences!

✅ [b] The detective gameplay works shockingly well.[/b] This is a game that trusts you to think: if you miss a clue, the script doesn’t swoop in and spoon-feed you. It’s refreshing. You're expected to find passwords and answer puzzles on your own. Characters will hint at some mysterious past or character, and it's imperative you connect the dots. Many times, there will be secret objectives or hidden doors in a quest. The game will hint at it, but you'll have to piece things together.

✅[b]The worldbuilding and atmosphere are phenomenal, too: [/b]every apartment, every office, every secret bunker oozes that moody, occult “money + paranoia = vampirism” aesthetic. There's just so much lore, as well. Papers, texts, emails, notes, recordings, etc. If you like to snoop and read, this game is perfect for you.

🟥 [b] Some stat opacity. [/b]Skills feel wildly unbalanced. Pro tip: invest at least three points in Persuasion and Psychology. These will be the skills most contastly used. Presence might as well not exist; I haven't put a single point in it. Building your character “wrong” can lock you out of entire narrative paths, and the game will straight up fall you if your build is too crusty to function. I love, love, [i]loved[/i] managing your resources (Blood and Willpower) rules, but you'll have to be careful when deciding what to spend Willpower on, as each choice is quite expensive.

🟥 [b]I could not stand Hasley's lisp.[/b] No offense to the kid, but she was more of an annoying brat than lovable scamp.

🟥 [b]Leysha's [spoiler] werewolf mission[/spoiler] was god awful. [/b]Who's bright idea was it to put a stealth section in a combat free RPG?

🟥 [b]No manual save system.[/b] I get it, actions have consequences, yada yada, but sometimes failure feels way too punishing instead of tense. There's also a level of RNG involved in a skill check (it's a long story).

🟥 [b] Still buggy. [/b] Characters sometimes float above the ground. Interactions that should be valid are not. Coupled with no save system makes playing this game a bit of a gamble.

🟥 [b]Also: guides are your friend.[/b] No shame. Everyone who says otherwise is lying.

🟥[b] They did my girl Leysha so dirty with her hair...[/b]

🟥 [b]The models look better when they’re not moving. [/b]The animations are... questionable. Lips sometimes don't match what the character is saying. There's a jerkiness when moving.

Very engaging VTM game, after playing through both Bloodlines and the New York trilogy, this one has definitely become one of my favorites.
It shows some excellent use of the lore with a few unexpected twists, and although that part is well-written, the main story has some turns that could be clocked in the first hour of playing the game if you're paying attention between the relationship of the characters.

There's a lot of puzzles that make you think and some, imo, were a bit obtuse on how to solve them, which was a bit frustrating as it stalls the pacing of the game.
There's also some highly tense moments towards the end of the game that are extremely well done!

Overall, even with janky animations and character models, it's a solid and engaging VtM game to play through.

Honestly, it's a little budget and there are some minor bugs, but the game grows on you and it's actually good. Love the crime and mystery drama, also the vampire powers are really cool! It's definitely not a masterpiece or groundbreaking...it could have been better in some ways but I still enjoyed the experience learning about the characters. Get the game on sale though.

Un bon jeu pour les amateurs de vampire the masquerade, graphismes ok , ambiance sonore correcte (pas de doublage audio FR mais le texte est traduit).
Je regrette : le système de sauvegarde (on joue des scène qu'on peut reset mais on ne peut pas revenir en arrière et des fois on s'aperçoit des conséquences de ses choix bien plus tard ), le système de progression (certaines compétences/disciplines sont très peu utilisées mais on ne le sait qu'une fois qu'on a fini le jeu... alors c'est bien pour refaire une partie mais ... ai je envie de refaire 20h de jeu pour voir ça ? non)

Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong is a game that I'm glad I decided to give a second chance. I had added it to my library some time ago, and played for a couple of hours before deciding that the game was likely not for me. The first hour or so really does drop you in the deep end, and there is an uncanny aspect to the character models that I found distracting. I'm fairly familar with the VtM setting, so I was able to follow well enough what was going on, but the story expects you to be able to pick up on contexts and subtle relationships between characters quite quickly. At the time, this put me off the game, and I didn't make it out of the first chapter.

Thankfully on trying again in a new game I was able to get past the mildly awkward controls, and enjoy it for what it is: a very well imagined crisis in the Boston Camarilla, that requires some good choices and detective work to solve. If anyone is expecting action, or combat, or anything like Bloodlines, this is going to disappoint. It is mostly entirely conversations with other characters, looking for clues, and solving puzzles. The RPG and leveling up aspects are perhaps an area where the developers might have mistepped a little. As other reviewers have said, not all of the skills you can improve feature equally, and in fact some barely show up as options at all. It might have been better to have scrapped the leveling up entirely, and given the three playable characters static skills of their own.

Most choices in the game come down to two things - resource management, and deciding how to respond to characters in conversation. You will not be able to do everything you wish you could, and it feels like choices in this game really do matter. Aspects of random chance can affect whether things go well, or poorly too, but if you're willing to allow failure shape your own story this shouldn't bother you. I think some people might get more out of this if they check one of the guides for when they get stuck, but I wouldn't suggest it out of the box. The story twists were done well, and I am glad I did not use a guide too much since I liked the mystery, and not knowing the consequences for some of my actions. That said, some guidance on what not to spend points on when you level up, might improve your playthrough.

All summed up: I really think there is an excellent Masquerade story that is told here, and if you're a fan of the setting, you'll probably enjoy this much more than the 'mixed' reviews might have you think. This is not an action game like Bloodlines, so do not expect that. Rather, it feels very much like what it is like playing a tabletop pen and paper chroronicle with a really commited gamemaster who might railroad you a bit; but really, it's because they have such a good story planned out.
I liked this game a lot, and I'd recommend it.

Цікавий детектив, квест з елементами рпг. Усім готкам і фанатам сумерек посвящаеться.
Від проходження, я отримав очікуване задоволення. Сюжет всяко навіював, що в кінці має статися біда, але видно є варіанти покращити кінцівку. Як і сталося. Все ж, вдруге його проходити, сенсу нема.
Готишні стилі збережені, читанини про згадки вампірів море, не тільки в діалогах, але й у архітектурі, проходячи рівні, отримуєш естетичне задоволення від самої розстановки речей та ремонту. Витонченість фігур - кічь, але це саме той випадок, коли це красиво. Немає озвучки і про українську - забудьте :)
Придбав гру на знижках, тому отримав рівно стільки ж задоволення від приємної покупки.

I personally enjoyed this game much more than I expected I would. I didn't have any issue (on PC) with save points, or the occasional scene restart when I chose to. You will have to be very observant and some of the "clues"/methods are definitely not intuitive and kind of vary from time to time. However, if you are willing to overlook some minor design choices (and some writing/voice acting fails), it is otherwise pretty enjoyable and I saw a lot of potential in the effort.

Начнем сразу с недостатков. Это, конечно, графика и анимации. Такое ощущение, что модельки делали на каком-то Gen 2.0. Довольно слабо для 2023 года, а настройки мало что меняют, поэтому можно смело ставить на максимум.

Мне понравилась механика, да, она куда примитивнее, чем в BG3 и имеет меньше рандома, но жирным минусом это назвать сложно. Печалит только то, что для таких героев как Галеб и Эмэм игра не оставляют намеков для правильной прокачки. А это важно, потому что некоторые навыки, а особенно дисциплины буквально решают умрет персонаж в сцене или нет. И у вас просто не будет достаточно опыта, чтобы перепройти эту сцену с измененными значениями, придется начать на пару сцен раньше.

С другой стороны, например, Лейше прокачка вообще мало чем помогает. Во всех диалогах можно найти вариант без броска, взлом нужен всем только если лень читать и искать ключи. Также в игре присутствует парочку решений судьбы персонажей, которые ни на что не влияют.

Но при всех своих недостатках игра цепляет сюжетом (если не считать душный пролог), музыкальным сопровождением, требованием обращать внимание на детали и записки, а также интересными главными героями. Вариативности здесь намного больше, чем в каком-нибудь телтейле, а концовки куда интереснее той же Bloodlines 2.

Рекомендую поиграть, но только в сезон скидок. Цена игры явно завышена и больше 10-15 долларов стоить не должна.

Like the developer's previous game (The Council), Swansong is an interesting mix of the adventure and RPG genres. It plays a lot like an adventure game where you walk around, inspect objects, collect items, talk to NPCs and solve the occasional puzzle. However, many of these interactions are gated behind skill checks like Deduction or Education. Sometimes these skill checks just give you additional exposition, other times they can provide information that can be used against your opponent in confrontations. Confrontations are basically dialogue-driven boss fights that can affect the outcome of any given mission. I found these to be pretty enjoyable and they reminded me of the similar feature in Alpha Protocol. At the end of a mission, you gain XP based on your discoveries and completed objectives, which can be used to increase your stats or unlock/upgrade vampire abilities. This encourages you to explore and inspect everything thoroughly, as well as talk to everyone and successfully pass skill and speech checks.

As with Telltale-style adventure games, you often make decisions that can affect the narrative in different ways and there are multiple endings based on the choices you've made. I found the story to be pretty interesting, as it really dives into the politics and culture of the Camarilla as well as some other factions. If you're a fan of World of Darkness, there's a lot of good stuff in here.

Where Swansong stumbles a bit is in the implementation of resources. Many skill/speech checks consume Wisdom, which is a finite resource that can only be replenished through rare, consumable items. Your vampiric abilities (which can be used for exploration and dialogue) generate Hunger, which makes bad things happen if it maxes out (it might even be a game over, though I never experienced that myself because I never maxed out my Hunger). Hunger can be reduced by feeding on rats or humans or by using consumables but these are all rare. The end result is that you have to be really conservative with your usage of Wisdom and abilities and that dampens the potential enjoyment of your character build. It just feels arbitrarily restrictive for this kind of game.

I'm like 17h or so into Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong on Steam from Big Bad Wolf, who did the underrated cinematic-style Choose Your Own Adventure/RPG game The Council. VTM: Swansong is another cinematic-style CYOA/RPG hybrid from them.

There's lots of stat checks, skill checks, dice rolls, and etc. when you make decisions & are actually in conversation. And also, how you perform in doing main stuff, side stuff, how much detective stuff you do & evidence you find, and evidence you find for vampires & either hide or destroy that dictates how things go w/ experience you earn (so you can upgrade the certain character you're playing as and their skills - and also help shape the story & endings. Finding evidence can also help, as you can use this against people (often that's against other vampires, even though you can use some stuff against humans).

I should note: you will play as 3 different vampires - all who are of a different class and have things they're dealing with here, BTW - in these overlapping stories. The real star of this game: the writing, plot, story, character development, and Lore stuff. A lot of the voice-over work in this game's also pretty good too; worth noting that. With lots of terms & lingo from VTM universe used in-game here & a big Codex here - yes. you can learn plenty about the lingo, game-world, characters (a lot of background stuff there), and Lore in this game & also the entire VTM franchise. This thick Codex can be a great help, esp. for newbies trying to get into VTM franchise & for those who need a refresher course on VTM stuff - that also is just like what also many of the VTM: New York trilogy of visual novel games do (VTM: Coteries, Shadows, and Reckoning of New York).

This game looks really nice on UE5, even if I get some stutters when entering into new areas and/or new shaders being introduced (fresh stuff UE5 needs to cache, so it's fine for the next pass/run-through) - but, the game runs fine otherwise, mostly at 1080p60p, with Max settings on my RTX 3070-based PC. It runs fine on also on my RTX 3060m-based laptop, provided I stick everything on High instead of Max.

If you like vampires, want to get into VTM universe & its lore, CYOA-style cinematic games with also RPG elements where your choices do matter - this one's a good bet; especially since it can be had for around $10 or less on sale. I need to finish this soon & see how everything ends up for my play-through, but I'm really enjoying this so far.

ADDENDUM = 11/12/2025.
Finished-up VTM: SwanSong, after 21.9 hours or so according to Steam. And when everything was said & done, despite most of the stuff not panning out in the best ways for most of my the characters & more, the game & its journey was pretty good overall. Since there are multiple permutations & endings, this of course just begs for a replay try and sink my teeth again into this one down the road...just to see if things how different some things could've turned out based on both how you play the game and/or what you make for decisions; and to see if things in a replay can turn out much better or worse for the characters & the final state(s) of the game. No matter the satisfaction or not of how things turn out, what's most important is how this all fits in the end and it made a lot of sense, given how things went here - which was good for my game's ending state.

Just like The Council - yes, I do Swansong's underrated, IMHO. If you liked narrative-based CYOA/RPG hybrid The Council; like investigation games; like adventure games; like specifically Telltale & QD-style adventures; like RPG type of elements and choices that matter games; like games with strong narratives, plots, characters, writing & voice-work; and/or like VTM as a setting/franchise and its strong Lore - this one's pretty good, for sure and worth playing. This is even more so true, especially since VTM: Swansong can be nabbed for cheap when on sale, even for the Primogen Edition (with most of the DLC's here) - so, if any of these things I've said through-out and/or especially one or numerous of these things appeal to you that I mentioned in sentence 3 of this paragraph, give this a shot; esp. if you can catch it cheap in a sale.

I really enjoyed a lot of my time VTM: SwanSong & will look forward to sinking my teeth into this one again, some years down the road.
