The story's alright. There are a few quirky glitches where you enter a place from the right and end up underneath the next area. Overall, it's not bad. I'd recommend playing on easy mode; otherwise, the battles can get a bit tedious.

It's decent, I got it for a very low price so I am fine. However it was so difficult to tell when the game's storyline just finished. It was ridiculous actually. The money was always tight so I never purchased anything much, no healing items more than 20 and armors etc forget it. When I made the money I realised that the game is over and that there was the boss fight.

Yet another great game from Aldorlea. The story evokes a feeling from the old days, but with modern gameplay.
I am 32 years old.
My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.
When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.
Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.

Pros:
-> Extremely good early plot that may rival Trails of Sky series.
-> Perfect HP for monsters and easy grinding experience.
-> Quick story progression.
-> No aimless gather that, gather these BS, no crafting etc to get good item
-> Fast paced battle until skill like persevere is must it has a slow animation not super slow but slow enough for constant usage.
Cons:
-> Huge wasted potential for epic story content that comes on early. After halfway through, story feels like a drag, and basically just waiting for final boss and progressing toward uncertain direction.
-> No OP Equip/Weapon that can 1 shot trash mobs. Magic is extremely strong and only 1 person in party can normally use it.
-> For Last zone, 1 ring must be worn on all char to avoid some damage and that item doesn't give any stat its totally garbage. And this is the zone where you find the strongest monsters in game, imagine going in there without your strong accessory.
-> Clearing all side quests and finding all secret room doesn't reward any epic weapon / armor and only gives out extremely good usable like heal all 100%.
-> Few side quests can be easily missed or can't be completed for that I will give you short guide here.
#1 side quest: Finish it as soon as possible
#6 side quest: Finish it before picking Side quest 15 (in Noble Quarter Laymar)
#12 Side quest: Pick up after reporting to Tyler the first time, Also Quartermaster is walking on Parade zone (Outside Tyler's Office building)
Overall, its a good game. But they need to add few more OP gear near the end. Final zone trash mobs takes 3-4 turns to finish and they hit hard probably not a good zone to farm as you will be needing a lot of consumables. Concern for defeating monsters in 1 turn should be disregarded because All mini bosses I found are super strong. By having option to clear mobs in 1 turn in final zone will give players time to farm level if they want easy way out and for those looking for challenge can avoid farm and directly go to mini-boss/boss. As I played this game on Normal Difficulty I still found it hard near the end. Only way to keep your party alive was to use Rare healing items like heal all 100%.
Great gameplay - several difficulty settings so something for everyone. I find most RPG maker games far too easy so always play on the hardest , and this offers a great challenging on the top setting.
And all the quality you'd expect from Aldorlea steam release.
And the perfect length too, 40 hours to get 100% achievements.
This game has good ideas, but has too many cracks for me to recommend it to hardcore gamers, let alone to the general public.
It has pleasant, nice characters that have their cool moments, an okay story idea that sadly felt not explored enough - even rushed at its start and ending - plus, I do like that the enemies are powerful enough that you're incentivized to use your spells and buffs often. And honestly, the music was surprisingly good! Finally, I also enjoyed that they were secrets rooms to find through the game, as well as side quests and treasures giving you good rewards!
However, enemies have too much health and can inflict roo many status effects, making combat moreso tedious than fun and strategic, the game itself is ugly (as expected from RPGMaker to be fair), and most importantly, you CAN absolutely get softlocked!
The game expects you to go through the final area in a single trip, with a specific accessory equipped on all your party members. This not only removes your ability to give your characters specific accessories making them stronger - as the Wasteland Rings give you no buffs whatsoever - but for "story" reasons you can only get one set per playthrough, which *breaks* whenever you leave the area! The Walkthrough claims you can visit the Herbalist to get more rings, but she was gone from her house when I tried to do so.
And what happened to me was that, close to the end of the final area, I RAN OUT OF RESURRECTION ITEMS. Meaning that I had to win every gaunlet of enemy coming my way without any restoration points or having any of my characters die - and remember, I could not go back to a shop and buy them due to the rings disappearing from my inventory!
And honestly, when some of said enemies could go first and one shot even my tanks with the best armor with a unlucky critical hit... I just couldn't do it. The ability to save anywhere actually robbed me from finishing the game.
Again, Undefeated has neat ideas that CAN be well executed, but it has some baffling design choices, and the rest just doesn't make up for it

Undefeated is definitely all games that should be the minimum standard for games created using the RPG Maker engine. Unlike trash, low effort, and unplayable games, I often review and criticize sharply. I really want to play a game from RPG Maker, which is good, but few are available in the market. I'm grateful that I can still enjoy games from Aldorlea. Maybe this minimum standard can be maintained so that developers don't become lazy in the future but can produce something fun to play.

This game is pretty linear for an RPG and restricts the route you take quite a bit. Undefeated is a pretty decent game and is only difficult on hardest difficulty rating. There are nice additions like secret rooms, side quests, and story dialog that you get to know the characters a bit more from each. Small banter between the characters about different elements of the game and wooden boxes instead of treasure chests give a nice comedy effect. Enjoyable for those who like the turn based RPG that focuses on story. Only change I would want is to add more dialog from the final boss. The story would definitely benefit from this and would make more sense if there was anything added.

This game started okay and it showed promise, but I grew to absolutely despise it. I play many rgpmaker games, usually on the background while watching stuff. I appreciate the simplicity and some times the combat is actually good and thought out well for all the difficulties.
I've stopped playing games like this before because I got bored, but this the first time that even though I pushed through to the end, I just got so tired that I quit 2 bosses from the end. I just do not care to finish it. I had the game playing on the background and I was never really focused on it and I still feel like I wasted my time.

Undefeated's story started pretty well but lost some pace halfway through.
The dialogues however were really well written and managed to create some electricity between the characters, I really liked that and it's clear that the developer put a lot of work in the dialogues.
What also stood out is the interaction with the environment. When you touch an object there will be a reaction (dialogue box) from the character touching it. If you touch a bookcase the character will tell you which book (or books) or in that library.
This really makes the world come alive and it's why some other RPG games who forget to do this feel more a bit more like an empty world compared with a game such as Undefeated.
Some players have said that the game is on the short side, I strongly disagree. It took me 18 hours to finish this story and that's without fulfilling all side quests so game length is around 20 hours, what do they expect: a 50-100 hours game? For me the game lenght was just perfect, in fact I like RPG games that are not too long and even appreciate short ones such as the brilliant 'Remnant of Isolation', the +- 20 hours of Undefeated is already quite long imho.
Undefeated uses standard RPG Maker material but I really don't mind that since it's an engine that still gives a lot of room for developers of how to implement them and that was certainly well done here.
A common problem with RPG games is that in the first half of the game enemies / fights are (far) too easy and the difficulty is janked up significantly at the end of the game. That was also the case with this game although it didn't bother me as much as with some other games (in Moonchild it litteraly took 1 hit to defeat oponents, at least in the first half of the game, that was certainly not the case here: the balance is better in Undefeated but it's still not balanced that well).
The end bosses in this game are tough but they are well do-able once you figure their weak point but it may be a good idea for some players to grind first before facing them.
I did not grind for the end bossed but still managed to beat them but I had to think well about the way I tackled them, which is good off course. This player who like a challenging end game will appreciate this, others well...you'll have to grind a bit.
The story started well with even some intrigue but as I mentioned earlier it lose pace halfway and was rushed towards the end making it feel a bit like a sudden. The rushing of the story at the end may have given some players the impression that the game should have been longer (it should not have been longer imho, the risk beiing that it could otherwise outstay it's welcome or drag) and it was in the end a rather generic fantasy story but the quality of the dialogues (that were considerably better as in Moonchild or in the Millenium saga by the same developer imho) helped to keep some spark and it helped to keep the player invested.
As a teaser I can say that Undefeated did have quite a dramatic plot twist close to the end (I will not be giving that one away, you'll have to complete the game for it).
One thing that was unclear to me is why the game is called Undefeated (something I saw another player mention as well).
All things considered Undefeated is a game I really enjoyed despite it's generic story (but let's be honest: most games and in particular RPG games tend to have a generic unoriginal story) and (minor) balance issues.
The game gets a big plus for excellent dialogues and great environment interaction.

战斗是传统回合制，选了normal难度，刚刚好适合我，根据敌人选择正确策略能让战斗轻松很多，女一的全员防止异常状态真神技。
画面音乐音效啥的就不要期待了，基本都是RM素材

Undefeated (not to be confused with the free superhero simulator UNDEFEATED) is a simple RPG made by Aldorea Games, published April 3, 2015.
The premise is simple, you have a rag-tag group of army conscripts that have unwillingly enlisted. Since they're newbies, no one really likes them so they set off to do their own thing and make the best of it. Unusually strange monsters start to appear in their training forests, so they get chosen to go investigate it. Which leads into a sleuth of problems for the group. It is compelling enough to keep you going, but a fair warning the story is underwhelming by the end.
Strangely enough though, in steam banner, the characters only look like that for around 2 minutes, they get haircuts in the opening cutscene and look different for the rest of the game.
I'd say the best part of Undefeated is its exploration reward system. While it gets a little stale by the end, it's still satisfying. Treasure is hidden practically everywhere in little pockets. Whether it be in logs, barrels, vases, people's homes, etc. While the items aren't incredible, they're nice. There are also a whopping [b]25 secret rooms[/b] to discover which have great rewards in them as well. With an additional [b]16 side quests[/b] to complete. Some of which are basic fetch-quests, while others have whole areas and bosses dedicated to them. It gives authentic added game-time.
The character interactions are decent, although I feel at times they under-react to things. Not too much development occurs with the characters, which is disappointing because it's enjoyable when they talk to each other. You learn about their aspirations and where they came from, but other than that they don't change significantly as people.
The gameplay, while easy, can be annoying at times. I played through on normal difficulty, and as long as you balance your healing and utilize buffs and de-buffs you should be fine. Undefeated does offer an option, in the beginning, to allow you to have visible enemies or hidden encounters. I really appreciated that feature and chose visible enemies. Though what makes it annoying is that enemies follow you around and you can end up cornered with 5 packs around you when trying to escape. Even if you hit the 'Escape' option in battle, once you leave they will be right there waiting for you and you'll just get initiated into another battle, so, for the most part, it's useless. Enemies also respawn once you leave and come back to an area, which makes progressing slow sometimes.
Another big issue is that there is no "Current Objective" viewer. You get item scraps for side quests, but for the main quest, there is nothing to remind you of your job. If you missed what the characters were saying about what to do next, or forget, then [i]too bad![/i]
Oh but don't worry too much, you can buy their [i]official game guide[/i] for $4 so you can remember where to go! (Which I had to do at one point, and only used it once)
Also, sorry, I'm not one to criticize a game's art much, but in the battle system, the contrast of the game's generic cartoon enemies combined with the realistic background looks awful. Don't even get me started if you play this game full screen, the photo-background will look like a pixelated mess. While the game maps themselves are nice, this is just acid to my eyes. Good thing the maps only had minimal bugs. For the music, it wasn't bad, it didn't sound like stock music and fit the areas well for the most part.
I wish this game could've had a bit less encounters, since the battle system was not that fun. Definitely should've had a quest tracking system. It only took me around 12 hours to finish this game, but I felt like I didn't get the "true-end" as it was so underwhelming, however I am not compelled to try and get a real ending. Also the art is not too much a bother, I just wish the rest of the resources went into character development honestly.
So, if you get this game on sale, can tolerate some annoying bits in gameplay and remember where you need to go, I would recommend this game. This game has its charms, but you have to be here for the journey, not the destination.
If you got a massive backlog already probably skip this, I appreciate indie goodness even if it is rough around the edges, but if you want to make the most of your time..,.better not.

It is very bad game. It's is oddly paced, ending is quite unsatisfying and rushed, story overall is very weak and combat is unbalanced and mostly quite hard (with big spike up in Wastelands) unless one uses paralysis. Most of alll, it is simply not fun in almost any area and there are many better done RPGMaker games.
Also, why is it called Undefeated? I don't understand what is it refering to.

Hmm another day another review. I personally should have wrote the review for this YEARS ago, since I did beat it many years ago, but never to the completion I have now. Though where does this stand up in RPGmaker fame for that let's run through a little questionaire comparing it to what I consider the greats, to lesser titles.
Is this as good as Dreamscape? DRECK NO. This game feels woefully short compared to possibly my fave RPGmaker game I've played.
Is this as good as Einlazer? Not really due to its woeful brevity.
Is this as good as A Timely Intervention? Now that's a harder question since this game has far less plot points, and feels super rushed in comparison.
Is this as good as Moonchild? Now this is a more even comparison. Though Moonchild has a far better story and pacing in my opinion, and this has a more rewarding battle system.
Is this better than Arevan? It easily outdoes it in the combat department, but its not as good in the story. Again I can say that Arevan had a BRILLIANT story.
Is this better than something BAD, like say Black Home? Oh by far. This at least feels like a good game in comparison.
I know I'm not giving out plot details but hey you gotta play some of the games right?
Man, this game. Where to begin! Okay first off, I got this game in a bundle with a few other dirt-cheap games, and I didn't even think I'd like it, so I went in with basically zero expectations. That said, it exceeded those expectations, and while it was far from amazing, it entertained me just enough to see it through to the end. That counts for something, right?
Overall, I'd like to give this a neutral review, but since I can't, I'd say the needle is a little bit closer to positive than negative. A sideways thumb, angled slightly upward, if you will.
The Good:
[list][*] This game seems to be frequently discounted at 90% off. I wouldn't recommend paying full price for it, but it's a good deal at $1 or so.
[*] The story, while nothing to write home about, was interesting enough for me to see it through to the end.
[*] The maps looked fairly good from an artistic standpoint. Better than most RPGMaker games, anyway.
[*] Characters had (mostly) meaningful, useful, and well-designed abilities, and you were heavily encouraged to use them instead of just mashing attack through every fight.
[*] When starting the game, there's an option for hidden (I assume that means random) encounters vs visible encounters. Good, because I hate random encounters.
[*] The music score was pretty decent all around.
[*] in the last area, there's a whole bunch of bosses to fight, which I enjoyed.
[*] The game hurls consumables at you in heaps. As someone who sits on consumables (gotta save everything for the last boss!) I had 99 of some by the time I reached the final battle, just from drops and chests alone.
[*] The character design, while far from perfect, was better than many other RPGMaker games out there. While they aren't going to inspire any fanfiction, I didn't ouright hate them, either.
[*] Lots of hidden items in crates, jars, shelves, etc to find. There's even hidden rooms loaded with goodies.
[*] Fights were nicely balanced (on Normal setting) with things starting off easy and getting harder as you get used to the game.
[*] Fairly short, but not overly so. I spent about 15 hours total on it from start to finish. Note that this may be a con to some.[/list]
The Bad:
[list][*] Missable content. I hate it, and this game had a little too much of it. Specifically, a few quests can be missed, and several of them can get stuck in permanent limbo if you don't do them soon enough.
[*] The guide (not sure if it comes standard with the game, or was part of the dirt-cheap bundle I got this game in) is extremely barebones and leaves out important details, such as the previously-mentioned limited-time quests and objectives.
[*] Lots of post-battle menu maintenance. Poison is absurdly common, and you'll find yourself heading to the menu after almost every fight to heal up throughout most of the game.
[*] Even though you can select visible-on-the-map encounters, the enemy encounter sprites are really aggressive, move quickly, and home in on you relentlessly. Since they almost all respawn on map transition, having to backtrack can be annoying.
[*] The items were lazily done, and by that, I mean you can "use" many items that don't actually do anything, yet doing so [b]consumes them anyway[/b]. This is true even for a few key items, so beware. I'm honestly not sure how this oversight made it past quality control.[/list]
The Ugly:
[list][*] The maps have weird passability issues. Normally-walkable areas are sometimes blocked, and normally-blocked tiles like cliffs can sometimes be walked over.
[*] While mostly fine, there's still a few annoying spelling and capitalization errors.
[*] There's a few parts in the game where, if you don't pay attention to what an NPC tells you to do, or if you took a break, came back, and forgot where you were, you might not have any idea where to go next without the guide.
[*] The final area basically deletes your accessory slot by requiring a use-or-die ring with no benefits beyond its use-or-die function. One could argue that this increases the challenge, but it's still a tad bit unpleasant.
[*] If you leave the final area, that use-or-die item is removed for seemingly no reason, and you can only get replacements once. If you leave the final area a second time, it's the Bad End for you.
[*] If you don't equip the aforementioned item, you get a [i]permanent and incurable[/i] damage-over-time ailment. This is one of those games where you can potentially save yourself into an unwinnable scenario because of things like this.
[*] Right before the final fight, there's an event script that has your characters walk past a random encounter enemy sprite that, like always, wants to get in your face. It's possible for this enemy sprite to get stuck in front of your character. You won't engage it since the event script is still running, but you also can't move so the only way to fix it is to restart the game. Hopefully you saved...
[*] While most character ability sets were decently-done, the main character felt like he had a lot of filler abilities that were only ever useful for a short while. He also was a pretty mediocre damage dealer overall compared to some of the others.[/list]
I wanted to write a much more in-depth review of this game but Steam is being a b*tch and not letting me post it even though it's within the character limit. So, I will merely summarize my thoughts in a quick and cliche Pro's and Con's list.
PRO'S:
- A story that starts out unique and intriguing
- Likable characters with a nice amount of engaging and funny banter
- Fun and somewhat addicting combat that requires strategy for the most part
- Good art for character faces, enemy design, and maps for the most part
- Superb music that always fits the current map and/or tone and is a joy to listen to
- Lots of content. Main quest is around 9 hours long, not counting the plethora of side quests and secret rooms to explore.
CONS:
- Story becomes much less interesting around the late-game.
- Combat can become very grindy due to the sheer amount of encounters and maps (Though there is an option to reveal the encounters, allowing you to pick and choose which ones to fight and which to avoid)
- Difficulty is all over the place early on and when relating to side quests (However, there are 4 different difficulty levels to choose from and you can always level-up and revisit the side quest encounters if they're too difficult)
- Spelling and grammatical mistakes galore (Did the devs even double-check their dialogues?)
- Battle animations are boring and default
- There is no way of tracking your main quest/objective whatsoever. There are items to track your side quests but not the main one, which is just odd. No excuse for RPG's not to have a proper quest/journal system today.
To summarize, Undefeated is one of the better RPG Maker games I've played. I believe the game's PROs outweighs it's CONS and it was also engaging enough for me to play until the end, which is rare among RPG Maker games as of late. It's not perfect by any means but does a lot right what other RPG Maker games don't do. Rough around the edges, but a very decent experience. Well worth it's asking price if you're a fan of retro JRPG's and especially if it's on sale, which happens quite often.
The quest system in this game is terrible. There is no journal with a list of active quests and most of the time you don't know what to do or where to go. What's even more irritating is that some areas get closed off because your main character says you are not supposed to go that way and it happens a lot even if you already were in those areas, so you can't finish a quest.
Also, some quests have a time limit even if it's not mentioned anywhere. If you don't do them fast you won't be able to finish them later.
The main villain is also a joke. You never encounter him until the last battle. It was poorly done.
I really tried to like this game, but no way. I really can't recommend it.

I can't believe I forgot to review this game. I thoroughly ebjoyed it, start to finish. I like a lot of the RPGMaker games, and Aldorlea Games has come out with some gems. I put 62 hours into this game, whic isn't as much as some ga,es I've played but it speaks to the quality of the game to keep me into it this much. overall score 9 out of 10... great RPGMaker game!
I find the lack of waifus disturbing.
And bad art is bad. And unlike Aldorleas other games I don't see anything interesting being done here.

TLDR: Formulaeic. Uninspired. Large environments draws eye on poor quality tiles and asset recycling. Mostly stock assets. Deviantart grade paperdolls.
The game follows a simple structure of hanging around the HQ a bit then having to go through mazes and defeat monsters. The hub-oriented with questing formula is a winning one, but this is one of the better low energy examples you could think of.
The characters start off as your generic rpgmaker medieval setting soldier. Roster of foes and world lore hint at a generic no-thoughts required fantasy setting. Mixing in a bit of mythological creature and regular animals to fight against.
The banter between the characters and their background was bland and very skippable.
Of course there will be some big bad to go kill and some grinding on the way... Using conventional standard rpgmaker battle mechanics.
Conclusion: Just difficult to get to any immersion with an experience like this. You would be better off replaying any of the real classics of this genre from the SNES era. Try the great gaias perhaps for an indie rpgmaker game that had some effort put into it. Undefeated just does not bring the entertainmetn value, could not find a hook and does not compete well anymore even as a middle ground bland entry.

This game seems to have a promising storyline, however I have two major issues with it:
Leveling doesn't seem to be that important. In the first forest, I was two-shotting rats with normal attacks and after I spent a few hours leveling to 15, I was still two-shotting rats. The only benefit to leveling seems to be to learn the occasional skill or spell. The experience seems to rise by leaps between fighting areas, telling me that the game is attempting to control your levels. Training your characters is pointless, because you'll see a large gain in levels when you reach the next area.
My other issue is a personal pet peeve of mine. I've been a few hours into the actual gameplay, and in both the first world map area and in the second (after climbing the long mountain trail), the game won't allow me to go into any areas apart from where the main quest takes me. Each time I try to explore, my character tells me "I don't want to go there." It's very frustrating to feel railroaded with an RPG.
The storyline seems well thought out, but the gameplay is not for me.
It's a nice RPGMaker game, around 12 hours of gameplay and a lot of skills and spells to use! This one has a lot of interaction with the characters even when you pick up some hidden items or enter a secret room!

A good little RPG with plenty of hidden rooms and quests. It took around 20 hours to complete. The story and dialogue are good and the characters are likeable. If you are looking for a light RPG to pass the time this may work for you.

Não joguei nem duas horas e já virei fã! Recomendo MUITO! Pra quem é fã de RPG old school tipo dos consoles dos anos 90 é um prato cheio! Apesar dos gráficos serem padrão do RPG Maker, o cenário e a história é BEM trabalhada! Assim como os personagens! Curti muito! Tem algumas particularidades no sistema que deixam o jogo bem interessante! Mas não vou dar spoilers...
I was bit nostalgic and wanted an old school rpg and this was exactly what i was looking for.
For one, its long. You can grind for better weapons and armor and follow the main storyline, you still wont be near the end, I'm nine hours in and my best guess says i'm less than halfway.
Also, its a normal old school combat style. The story is good, the dialogue is well written. The secret areas are hard to spot, but its good to have challenging elements.

I concede that I was a bit disappointed. The humour was quite decent in my opinion and I liked the idea of the story. The battle system was interesting but I didn't feel very satisfied when I completed the game (okay, just at one difficulty). Things were getting very interesting with the reveal of the final boss and his intentions but the story ended very sudden [spoiler]I hoped for an "instakill move" of Naltus to make the team unconscious to let him escape and to continue the story but you defeat him and that's it.[/spoiler] The sidequests can't be completed at any time and in my personal opinion the overworld was very small.
Well I liked the game, it contains many interesting aspects but it was too short. For RPG Maker newbies it would be a nice start but I hoped for more. Fortunately there are many other RPG Makers games^^

“Undefeated” is a decent, if somewhat bland, JRPG that nevertheless plays well. You get a limited selection of characters to use, so you’re pretty much stuck with a fixed party for most of the time, but to compensate this you get a large variety of special moves and spells, which you’ll need to use judiciously to win the fights with various enemies (especially at higher difficulty levels). The story is the usual “save the world” stuff, with side quests to enrich it, and the total gameplay is something around 8 hours. Graphics is mostly a standard JRPG set, and the music is nothing extra either but it’s good enough to listen during the game. Overall, “Undefeated” probably won’t stand against such JRPG gems as Millennium or Moonchild, but if you like this genre, and have already finished the titles mentioned above, then this game is worth a try.
Undefeated is a well-rounded adventure RPG with a solid story, combat system, and inventory arrangement. The game is customizable from the start, with options for difficulty level, and whether you want visible or invisible enemies. The main quest takes about 12 hours to complete.
Things gets started quickly, as you are thrown into the action early in the game. The premise of the story is that you and your party are military recruits who get mixed up in a more advanced situation, and must find out what is causing mutant creatures to leave the wilderness and invade the local towns. The story has a very good plot, which leads you through the main sequence of quests; the characters are well developed, but do not factor into the story much. Towards the end of the game, however, the focus of the story is lost as it becomes secondary to a series of progressively more difficult battles, and a lot of loose ends were left untied.
Your initial party includes three recruits, and a few others come and go along the way.
There are a large number of side quests, but most of them are very similar, and involve delivering a message or item of some sort to one of the hundreds of NPCs that populate the map in each town. Completing them is a matter of talking to every person in every town multiple times, which can grow tedious. Furthermore, the world map doesn't always allow you to travel where you want, and tends to force you along the way to complete your main quest. Many side quests will be left behind. There are also areas of the world map that you are never able to travel to (as far as I could tell).
Gold is acquired by searching hollow logs and crevices on the area map. There are 25 secret rooms in the game, which can also be found this way.
Combat is well done, with normal difficulty presenting a nice challenge. All characters have unique skill sets, which develop as you progress through the levels. Strategy is an important part of battles.
There are no hitches to this game, although some battles are difficult enough that you might have to repeat them multiple times. There is, however, the possibility of running out of supplies, and if this happens while you are in a place called "the wilderness" (roughly the last third of the game), you will have to warp back to buy new supplies. Before entering the wilderness again, you must obtain rings which ward off sickness, and you are only allowed to do this once, apparently, so be cautious. The game tells you all this anyway.
Overall, the game feels like an epic through most of its progress, but the ending is rather sudden, as if we are expected to continue the adventure in a sequel.

-- avrei preferito dei segni distintivi o comunque un qualcosa che identificasse la posizione delle stanze poichè alcune possono essere trovate solo o cercando in ogni possibile millimetro della mappa o con l'aiuto della guida.
- alcuni boss verso la fine del gioco mancano di originalità mi sono sembrati tutti pressocchè simili (come combattimenti) e ho dovuto usare sempre le stesse strategie con loro ( spammando revitalize , la mossa ad area del 'cuoco' e magie elementali ghiaccio o acqua).

Concludo dicendo che se siete amanti del genere fareste bene a prenderlo ora che sta ad un prezzo bassissimo con gli sconti di steam.
I have to admit I am a little dissapointed. The story never really took off for me and before I knew it, it was over before I ever really felt like it got out of what would be "Chapter 1" in a novel. However, other parts of the game where enough to push my verdict to "Recomended" in light of it all and I hope the developers can look on this with a bit of advice for suture titles.
[h1]The Story[/h1]
This was one of the larger areas of dissapointment for me. It started off very unique and well. The music in the barracks and intro scenes fit the mood very well and the way the proffessional soldiers talked to you as a cadet was good. It really set the tone of life in the military as best as you can do in a RPG Maker game.
But as the story progressed, everything centered around the wasteland spreading and turning monsters into tougher opponents. Even when you make it to the village completely destroyed, it still did not feel like it was a very menacing backstory to be afraid of. In addition, the lack of villians in the game meant that your characters pretty much just stumble on new items instead of actually having any sort of real mission. You are mainly just being sent to investigate over and over again. There was no one to fight or scheming to stop you it feels like.
The ending was the worst. I don't want to divulge too much for sake of spoilers, but that ending was borderline M. Night Shyamalan style like the Mist where it just vanishes or the Happening where it too just...ends? The "big" revelation at the end really had as about much impact as it instead being a early game boss instead of the "grand" finale.
Lastly....there is way too much dialougue and interaction in the game. Kudos for not being lazy...but it was just way too much and it makes the player immune to when something is being said instead of engaged in a cutscene because half of the game some form of text is popping up every 20 seconds. Streamline and gut it to only concentrate on the main story and then every once in a while...very rare times...add in parts that help build character identity more.

This was a solid B+. Almost everyhting is custom, but I would harp on the quality. In total honesty I think default RPG Maker parts would had been better in many spots like many of the battle backgrounds and sprite work in dungeons.
But heart and soul was poured into this area I can tell and that can always be appreciated.

Music and ambience matched very well. Will give this a solid B+ as well. There where no tracks that took my breath away, but everything fit well together. Only area I saw that could be easily improved without having to find new commission work would be the battle background music. Mix it up from time to time. It gets old hearing the same thing from beggining to end of game minus boss fights.
However, there must had been 30 tracks and again...although they did not blow me away, they still all fit very well together. Great attention to detail.

Undefeated uses a very different style that is for sure. I would recomend narrowing those dungeons by A LOT. Eons of running around vast open areas with enemy encounters happening every few seconds is not very enjoyable. Perhaps it was a method used to not have to make but 7-ish main dungeons in the entire game? I dont know. A game to end with my characters only at level 45 and only seeing a few places does not give a complete package feeling to the player.
That leads me to the world map. Again...unique? Not sure if that is the style in your other games, but I hope it is not. That hurts the game I think and again reinforces what I felt in the story with it never really feeling like I even left Chapter 1. How is the wasteland such a danger to the world when it apparantly only affects an area the size of ... 100 square miles?

Much more emphasis needs to be on explaining the grand scope of the game and definitly make a enemy to fight towards...not all of a sudden get attacked by. There was never any end fight your party was going to...they just stumbled onto it. In fact, I had no idea I was at the end of the game until I stumbled into secret room 24 of 25. That left a bad taste in my mouth after enjoying for the most part everything else.
However, work was definitly put into the game and it is enjoyable enough so I do not see this as being a waste of money for anyone. I just can't say I am a fan of their style used in this game.
This game is really good! It's one of Aldorleas best games. If you like turn-based JRPGs, buy it, especially on sale!

Seriously, the game starts with you getting conscripted into the military... apparently there is a compulsory 2-year service requirement. Anyway, your term starts just in time for a great evil to rear up and try to destroy your nation.
Well, at least your term will be exciting... in the Confucian proverb way...
Pretty much a standard RPGMaker game. However, Aldorlea's involvement means there is some focus on plot and backstory. As well as a high likelihood for a guide.
And sometimes the discount on the deluxe edition is cheaper than the main game...

The dialouges are nice, love the npc interaction, though the small dialouges in middle of adventure is nice at first but it starting to get tedious and clutter-y, constant dribbles and some are rushed in the end. The story are nice but again, at some point it felt rushed.
The battle are pretty decent, love the monster's variety. Decent mapping, but still nice to look at.
Overall, everything is decent. I enjoyed the adventure, though I feel like I didn't get to connect with Marcus and others more.

It's time for a revised review to do this game justice. WARNING SPOILERS
Graphics: Decent. Some mapping errors which can be bothersome when searching for the secret rooms.
Music: Decent
Gameplay: It basically boils down to casting status ailment protection, buffing and beating the ♥♥♥♥ out of the enemies until they stop moving.
Spelling and usage of words: The language feels stilted. The dialog is sometimes cheesy. It's an JRPG, alright.
Characters: Decent. They are easy to distinguish yet I still can't remember their names. The only one I can remember is the villain and he shows up at the very end.
Story: The only strong point this game has besides the characters. Our heroes must save their homeland from a mysterious corruption that is slowly spreading and mutating animals and plants. The main villain needs more buildup to be effective. He just shows up after one of the party members sacrificed themselves to stop the corruption from spreading.
I would have given this game a recommendation if it hadn't been for the laziness that are the different endings.
Background information:
Our heroes must enter the corrupted highlands. Entering it without protection will give them an uncureable disease that lowers their stats and deals damage every turn.
The Highlands can only be entered twice. For the second visit, they need to visit a herbalist and get a second set of protection.
There exists the so-called "bail-out-token" that allows our characters to instantly flee from anywhere.
At the end of the highlands, our heroes find a lake that is the source of the corruption and spreads it.
The magician sacrifices herself and unleashes powerful magic to destroy the lake so the highlands can eventually return to normal and the corruption is stopped.
After this, our heroes meet Naltus, the villain that is shown on the titlescreen. He explains that due to our heroes destroying the lake, his people are finished since they need the corruption to survive.
So, where is the problem?
Good ending = Magician sacrifice -> Naltus Fight -> Good
Bad ending = Flee the highlands twice
There is no in-between and it doesn't matter, what you do.
Let's say I never fled the highlands, my magician has sacrificed herself and I instantly use the bail-out token or use it after I talked with Naltus. I have to visit the herbalist and go back. There is no "Let's go to our commander and tell him that we saved the day but that the villain is still out there."
There is no ending.
Let's say I fled the highlands once and I do it again right after the magician sacrificed herself. I get the bad ending where the magician who just sacrified herself SPEAKS to the captain and the corruption spreads!!
This makes no sense! HOW?!
The bail-out-token just shouldn't function to prevent this but it works so this is just disappointing.
Let us look at the conditions and how this could be used for different endings:
Arrived at the lake? Defeated Naltus? Visited the highlands twice?
Good ending one: Our heroes do everything
Good ending two-a: Our heroes destroy the lake but bail out and tell their boss that Naltus is still out there. The boss just sends professionals to deal with him.
Good ending two-b: Same as two-a, just that they wait out until Naltus dies because the corruption has stopped
Bad ending one: Our heroes just run away twice.
Bad ending two: Our heroes get defeated in the highlands, captured and mutate as the corruption spreads
Bad ending three: Our heroes die in the fight against Naltus
There is so much potential and this potential just wasn't put to use.
This negligence is the reason why I can't give this game a recommendation.
Nice RPG. Play in Legendary difficulty, you will not get bored. Just a little bit angry sometimes. You need to grind.
This game has multiple ending. WHAAAT. 10/10
Cons: The Wasteland is ridiculous. They put all kind of powerful enemies/bosses there and close to each other. I just go down this ONE stairs and there are 3 of them. Two of the I managed to kill after spending a lot of item. I stock up 30 MP refill and they are all gone. The third one is more ridiculous. The difficulty spike is stupid. One turn, full health and 3 of my party member is dead. WTAF. Damn. Sure the enemy drop is good, now I have 20 or so elixir, but still The Wasteland is ridiculous in terms of difficulty spike. And if I retreat from The Wasteland to stock up items for the 2nd time, they give bad ending. It's really once you go up there, you can go back once. The second time you go up there, there is no turning back. Still a good game though. I think the game is saying "Oh you stock up all those items for later, better use it now or you die." You know, by the end of this game I dont think I will have that much item in my inventory.
JRPG generico.
Historia Ok, aunque el final es muy precipitado (aparecen 6 jefes seguidos). Tendrían que haber alargado el tramo final.
El sistema batalla al principio es muy básico, pero conforme subimos niveles, tenemos más habilidades, y se hace mucho más completo.
A destacar el sentido de humor del juego, no tomándose en serio muchas cosas típicas del genero. La gente no te deja entrar en sus habitaciones de las casas, los monstruos no dan dinero, sino materiales que los puedes vender, etc.
10 € es mucho, pero está rebajado a menudo a 1 € y ese es un precio más que aceptable.
