线列战争不可不品的游戏，线列时代的末期的残酷性表达得很好
煮豆燃豆萁，本是同根生，游戏中的战场上可以看到南北两军的尸山血海，即便最后获得胜利（无论我扮演哪一方），我也开心不起来。如果说这个游戏给了我最大反思就是，人在大历史中既是数字又不该仅是数字，一切东西都是有代价的，他的岁月静好，必定有人为此负重前行，也更理解他为何如此看重路线斗争，反反复复强调千万不要忘记……
It´s fun and surprisingly nice to look at. Coming from total wars and other games that let you rotate the map it takes a little time to get used to not to be able to do so, but after a while you realize that there´s no need to.
Curiously I find the sounds quite addicting. The musket and cannon shots add a lot to the immersion.
All in all a very enjoyable game.
Perfect for players who want to feel the weight of command and the logistical struggle of keeping an army together through years of attrition.

Historic battles that are built upon how hard you go at each subiquent battle, in terms of manpower, leadership and material. Too costly a battle, no matter how it turns out, can haunt you and cost you down the road. Just like in the historic Civil War narrative.

游戏性：27/35。RTT游戏我玩的不多，RTS玩的应该比RTT多。但排队枪毙型游戏我是真喜欢。一边调动部队一边痛击扬基佬，我就是当代罗伯特·李。
独创性：12/20。独创性主要体现在这个时代背景，南北战争这个题材本身就很少见了。
声音：11/15。枪声和炮声让人欲罢不能。
画面：11/15。
情节塑造：11/15。其实感觉作为主角的玩家有点摄像头的感觉，但是这游戏通过加强北军人力、南军战斗力来模拟历史，在情节上还是比较合理的。
总评：72。喜欢这一背景、排队枪毙的玩家没理由不买。

Я так скажу, персонально меня эта игра затянула на 400 часов. Прошёл несколько раз за федералов и конфедератов на разных уровнях сложности.
Из минусов отмечу что юниты иногда не слушаются. В частности, когда хочешь подвести бригаду вплотную к другой б-де. Также нет обучения в классическом виде. Со временем, конечно, привыкаешь, но первое время было больно. Саундтреки немного однообразные. Больше сказать особо нечего.
Теперь о хорошем. Как я уже писал выше, затягивает. Если вы шарите в подробностях за гражданку в США, знаете кто такие Лонгстрит, Чемберлен и иже с ними, то погружение прям шикарное. Управление простое. Механик не то чтобы прям много. Дизайн и рисовка дешёвая, но пойдёт.
Сейчас стоит 1100 рублей. В принципе оправдывает стоимость. Персонально для меня 8/10, весьма неплохая игра.

I like that theres scenarios for when you lose.
But the missions that require you to use someone else's army is sometimes unfair.
And I despise timers on every mission. Every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ time, the ai is saved by the bell.
I'm Union man. I love the history of the bloodiest conflict in US history. I get to name my units after historical units too! I have nothing bad to say about it...if I could ~add~ anything, it would be flags and banners and guide-ons, et cetera.

Scaling is garbage, skillful players who play strategically punished. Near impossible to win or even pull a draw at Antietam on Legendary with out losing 70 percent of your army. Shouldnt have to game the system to win.

In every game I've ever played, Campaigns began with easier challenges and then gradually increased difficulty and complexity. This game's campaigns (both north and south) begin with almost impossible difficulty in the first two missions, but then becomes interesting and fun.
This game is fun, challenging, and interesting... after you get past the beginning that undoubtedly lost them dozens if not hundreds of players. (How sad that they made such supremely, incomprehensibly stupid decisions to start such an excellent game with killer missions.) I highly recommend the game for veteran war gamers. If you're NOT an exceptionally strong player... the beginning of the campaign is as far as you'll get.

For those who enjoy tactical and strategic war gaming, this title is bound to delight. Even if Real-Time Strategy isn't your usual method of play, this one is worth a try.
One can come in at base level and rise through the ranks, or one can start with some experience and build a reputation through victories -- or defeats. As you build your reputation and your army, you can also allocate points toward skills for you and your commanders. This one is worth the full-price, and even better if you can get it on sale.

Best Civil War game for that itch that comes around. Easy mechanics for casuals (not everyone needs to know where Generals buy their wives dresses). All the way back to SID MEYER HOTDOGS Gettysburg, this game is a great campaign game.

The only complaints I have are that sometimes the game doesn't understand when you've defeated the enemy so it moves on to the next day of that battle with little to no enemy forces remaining. That doesn't affect the playability at all and I very much enjoy this game otherwise!

On regrette néanmoins l'absence d'un mode multijoueur et on attend (un peu sans espoir) une version napoléonienne.

The above being said is very stimulating to play.
Why am I so emotionally invested in this. I am terrible at completing games, but this one I want to win. It's crazy because I have been studying napoleonic tactics like the attack column and they work, The only thing I wish this combat had would be the ability to reshape your brigades into a square or a line depending on your need.
Confederate AI wins the instant it decides to caveman charge your ♥♥♥♥. Also so many enemies that you can't properly scout without 1. your units suffering from the lack of men used by detaching skirmishers and 2. the combination of flanking damage causing instant routing of said skirmishers and their uber aggressive skirmish mode causing them to run away constantly makes scouting once the fray starts impossible. So the AI will effortlessly send in their cavalry late to flank your dudes that you have no idea is there.
tl;dr this game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and the confederates have chad uebersoldats that insta-route your virgin US troops.
Reminds me of my time playing Avalon Hill's Gettysburg.

Interesting real time strategy game in the setting of the American Civil War:
Gameplay in the campaigns (choose Union or Confederate, including the full period of the civil war) is divided into two parts: Management (distribute career points to unlock advantages, hire armies, officers and weapons, upgrade your army) and battle (choose scenario (smaller skirmish and historic (to some extend non historic scenarios as well) battles, deploy your troops, play the battle ... considerating troop types, cover, terrain and time limits).
Apart from the camaigns you can also play most of the historic battles in single scenarios with preformed armies.
Gameplay can be extremely tough and frustrating because even at low difficulty. AI acts okay to agresssive.
Visuals are okay in the overview, but are blurred at higher zoom levels. Battle scenarios seem historical accurate. Some alternate and fictive scenarios when progreeding the Confederate campaign can be played. No complaints about the size of content.
Alltogether this game is recommendable, if you are into those kind of games and you like the historical period. Dislikes are, that you will need some frustration tolerance to master it.

The Good
The logistics aspect is enjoyable; raising regiments, organizing them into Corps, equipping and training.
The Bad
However the tactical aspect is frustrating as it turns into a meat grinder with poor unit AI. You'll charge in and rout an artillery unit, but then they'll escape (with their cannons) and regroup to flank you from behind. No disabling of cannons or capturing. The graphics are pretty meh as well. And the most frustrating aspect is that you have no say or agency in the campaign. You are thrown into historical battles but the enemy still is able to match your forces though you may have decimated them in a battle your side actually lost in history. There's some effects to lessening the enemies numbers but it has barely any real change in a battle.
Simple and quick to learn, very enjoyable to play for hours.

This game is a great sequel to the other Civil War game. The last game only had a fixed campaign but it was fun and i enjoyed it. This game has a great campaign AND a custom battle mode that lets you change history. I recommend you add a free dlc to allow a new mode called conquest so we can play as the south or the north and we play a full on country war as the leader for whatever state militia you want or take hand at the federal army as Lee or the President. Make deals with states and make armies help, or be left alone to fend for your city

This game makes the battlefields look more accurate and realistic. It also allows you to work your way through the game however you want to according to the size of brigades, divisions and corps. Makes the game a joy to play.
Similar to Total War. fun game. worth try, as strategy games go.

"Триллион солдат противника сидит на огромной горе с неприступными укреплениями. Вот тебе толпа необученных бомжей со старыми мушкетами, отряд кавалерии и 3 пушки. Захвати гору за 10 минут и потеряй не более 10% от своей армии".
Твои солдаты паникуют и разбегаются от двух прилетевших в колонну пулек, а противник, естественно, будет стоически чиллить под eбeйшим огнем всей твоей армии и плевать он хотел, в лоб ему стреляют или в спину.
Мб я дeгeнepaт, который не дружит со стратегиями, но многие уровни конченые и почти непроходимые без огромных потерь и неподъемных денежных трат.
Рот болит, и попе больно, быть южанином прикольно

Wow this game is bad. Its like cheap indie bad. The level of strategy reminds me old north and south. Unit models and their animation look similar... I will take my refund and doubt I will look at this studio again.
- No UI scaling
- graphics are comically bad
- unit movement is just bad, enemy infantry outrunning cavalry
- whats the point of ability to buy new regiments if you have cap on what you can deploy?
- canons are pointless
- units ai is terrible, you give order and they do something completely opposite

Could have been a great game, but the time limit in the battle makes it impossible to get through the 1st battle if you are on level 2 and up. In games like the Total war series you can simpley turn off the time limit. It's a shame that not in here.

Fun strategic game! Some of the game mechanics are lacking and be prepared to lose some battles, but the game gets high points for authenticity.
Decent real-time strategy. Strategic more than tactical, and a little arcadey, but it's easy to play and more importantly, fun.

-然而，本游戏的难度曲线设计并不算好，北军与南军的第一关基本上就是各自的最难关卡，尤其是北军第一关难度奇高，这点对于新手玩家来说颇为劝退，是个设计上的败笔。后续关卡的难度曲线设计也不是很好，导致中等及以上难度的战役前期如果运营错误，中后期将会吃尽苦头乃至死档。
-不过，瑕不掩瑜，本作凭借精良的战役脚本与地形设计，宏大的战场与部队规模，优秀的运营与养成设计，以及简化但功能齐全的操作系统，在战术战斗上的体验完全超过了全面战争系列的体验，尽管其在画面上不是很符合现代玩家的口味，但本游戏的主要受众是我们这些看着数字减少就能感到射精般快感的人，画面从来只是次要的东西。

1.本游戏射击时不需要考虑高低差，地形高低差只会影响单位视野，如果已经有高地的视野则不会对射击有任何影响
2.本游戏有掩体值设定，不同兵种在不同地形上的掩体利用率不一样，散兵总是可以享受最高的掩体值，而线列步兵与炮兵所能享受的掩体值相对较低，未下马的骑兵最低
3.体力值设定不单会影响部队的移动速度，还会影响部队的士气和肉搏数据，没体力的部队被迫进入肉搏时会很快投降
4.刀骑兵很弱，是功能性兵种，然而由于其装备数量极其充盈因此新手前期很容易上头组建大量刀骑兵，在错误操作下损失惨重从而怒骂骑兵垃圾，实际上本游戏所处的19世纪，由于步兵火力的大幅提升，刀骑兵本就已经开始退出历史舞台了，此时骑兵最主要的作用是侦察与袭扰，而非直接冲击敌方部队，游戏里也是一样，因此应当组建的是卡宾枪骑兵而非刀骑兵，通过快速穿插在敌人后方放枪再撤退来快速拉低敌人士气，甚至勾引ai大回转将侧后露给你的步炮兵，刀骑兵一般只有在追杀溃兵与偷袭火炮时有些许作用（卡宾枪骑兵干得更好）
5.游戏所处的19中期是个非常有意思的时代，此时线膛枪与滑膛枪，线膛炮与滑膛炮之间刚好开始交接，游戏开局北军装备的春田M1842是滑膛枪，南军装备的M1841密西西比则是早期线膛枪，中期开始北军军械库中大量出现的春田M1855与南军军械库中的P1853恩菲尔德则是米尼弹线膛枪，后期的亨利连珠枪与斯宾塞卡宾枪更是杠杆步枪，武器的这些特性也会在游戏内的数据进行体现--如果你想知道一把枪是不是好枪，去网上搜索看看他能不能发射米尼弹，能射米尼弹的就是好枪！
6.线膛炮与滑膛炮并不是互相替代的关系，两种炮都需要保有，大口径重磅滑膛炮负责近距离发射榴弹与霰弹，可以在近距离上造成可怕的杀伤，然而也因此极易伤亡。线膛炮由于其精准，更适合在远距离上进行反炮兵射击，重磅线膛炮在中远距离上对步兵的杀伤效果也很可观，甚至可以反制散兵。
7.本游戏的炮兵存在三种弹药与三段射程，然而游戏内缺少每种弹药的射程显示，炮兵会自动切换弹药以攻击不同射程上的目标--远距离会使用实心弹攻击，杀伤最小，但线膛炮发射的实心弹极其精准，中距离会使用榴弹进行射击，杀伤可观，这也是两种炮最常也是最应该发射的弹药，近距离会使用霰弹进行射击，杀伤极其恐怖，然而射程极短，属于保命射击，线膛炮的霰弹威力较低
8.本游戏完全没有友军伤害，炮兵可以直接站在己方步兵后面开火而不会干扰己方步兵（可以理解为己方步兵会自动给炮兵让开射界），但发射的子弹与炮弹的确是实体，炮兵距离步兵过近常常会被敌方射击的榴弹打中。步兵之间也没有友军伤害，肉搏时其他部队可以放心开火，如果步兵之间互相遮挡了射界则他们不会射击且其中一方会自行移动让出射界

在19世纪中期，米尼弹线膛枪极大增强了步兵的火力，铸炮技术与运输技术的进步使得重炮火力在战场上随处可见，因此，刺刀和马刀已经难以继续留在历史舞台上了。忘掉苏沃洛夫吧--子弹才是好汉，刺刀就是笨蛋！忘掉缪拉吧--胸甲骑兵不过是移动的铁棺材罢了！本游戏的基本原则，就是尽一切可能发扬自己的火力，千万不要一时上头就去拼刺刀！我相信，在真实历史上经历过葛底斯堡战役惨败的南军也一定会同意我的说法的。

The best strategy game by far for me. The mechanics are simple and straight to the point. The battles are simple to navigate but as challenging. Its simple AND engaging. Yes it is simple but there are lots of factors for you to get through before engaging to a battle. I was disappointed that the American revolution they turn it to total war mechanics. They should keep it like this but maybe with more game mechanics. UGAR feels like a ttw game all over again. This is totally diff from TTW series. And i am sure most of this game fans feel the same way.
A very good strategy game based on the American Civil War, that scales in difficulty reasonably well. Just be warned, as the confederacy, you can win all the battles and still be too weak to win the last one. Perfect then.
Great simulation - real weapons, great real time game play
So after playing the first campain im dissatisfed.
My troops are randomly just fleeing.
cav vs a reloading skirmirshers is gona make a the cav panic?
which makes no sens in real life when a reloading army gets charged by cav they usually flee.
in This game its the other way around which is really weird in my opinion.
units move terribly slow. i found out that why even shoot the enemies which you can charge then which seems to be way more effective you can even seem to capture an enemie battalion.
I found that cover and stealth does not help against ai they see me no mather what and if cover is 150 or 0 seems to make no differance either. So as far as i understand what ever the game is saying it has or works for does not seem to work. so as far as i understand the game is not working properly
Like the game dynamics and the options of selecting your own units, equipment and officers ranks for your units. Game gives options of a few battles to play when playing in campaign mode. Like the balance of relatively easy to start learning with the amount of details in the game. (review written after ~3 hrs playing the game).

I really enjoyed playing this game overall. I recommend playing it using the J&P Rebalance Mod v1.29.1. I think the historical battle were well done. My only complaint is I believe it would have been better to have a campaign map were it allows you to maneuver like Total War series, set ambushes, set up sieges, and choose to engage in a battle of your choosing instead of fighting in a linear scripted campaign. Aside from this I hope this game gets revisited and updated some more. But overall it was a fun Immersive game and took you back to those pivotal historical battles.
If you enjoy historical combat battles as I do, then Ultimate General: Civil War is a must try. As the player you have two factions to choose from. Units from Infantry, Scoots (aka Snipers), Cavalry and Cannons will at your disposal. Oh did I forget, you can unlock and purchase better weapons for your units, if you have in game founds for it of course. How you play each faction is totally up you as the player, no campaign will play out the same.

just got this game and it absolutely sucks you cannot ever win at any level or any rank you will always loose i would like to get my money back some how even when you occupy the specific objectives it will tell you that you lost when you set up your army the opposing team will have more men more guns more cavalry and more money you will never ever win
