The visual style is excellent but I didn't care much for the gameplay. The disorientating camera didn't really bother me but I could absolutely see it being a dealbreaker for a lot of people.

This review could just as easily have been negative rather than positive. The clincher for going with positive is that I got the game at 90% discount, and with ~19 hours playtime at time of writing, it's hard to say I didn't get my money's worth. And there is a [i]lot[/i] you can enjoy here, as long as you know what to expect. So consider this a heavily qualified positive review.
[h3]The Good[/h3]
There is a [i]lot[/i] to like about this game. The environment design is (mostly) really good (there is an area where the design is somewhat clumsily chosen to add challenge to a specific mission that takes place there, but it's noticeable by contrast with the rest of the gameworld), and the art design is [i]phenomenal[/i]. This is a 9 year old game and it still feels fresh and distinctive.
Similarly, the music is really good and fits the game perfectly. Good enough that I've looked it up to see if I can buy it as its own thing.
The world is full of little details and secrets to find, and - for me at least - the crowd and NPC behaviour does a lot to sell the idea of a busy, bustling megacity. There's a sense of humour and whimsy to the world - starting with the basic premise which is "framed for a murder, you start committing murders for hire to expose the real killer", but also in the writing/dialogue and even some of the visual aspects of NPCs.
There's a bit of variety to the missions, although they are generally of the "go here, kill this person" - but the fun is more to do with figuring out how you can do it. You [i]can[/i] do the "all guns blazing" approach - you don't get punished for doing this, other than it being a more challenging way to play since the game does also enable a more stealthy approach.
[h3]The Bad[/h3]
[b]The camera[/b]. I understand the desire for an isometric-type camera system, and I can even deal with the "for certain missions or areas, half the challenge is working out which camera angle to use" because [i]done right[/i] it can add to platforming/parkour challenges. But the system here needs a lot of refinement to mesh smoothly into the game - not least to address things like your direction of movement changing immediately on rotating the camera, but also the limited range of zoom levels and the lack of an auto-zoom feature. The fact that you can't change the vertical orientation of the camera means that certain combat situations are far more frustrating than they need to be.
[b]The controls[/b]. I'm a little more forgiving here as I know that designing future-proof controls is hard - but the big problem is that controller layouts can't be customised. So hope you like the default controls! The aiming controls are bad, which comes back to the camera issue - but they are far worse when you need to use them while [i]also[/i] moving, because you don't get a proper laser-sight on "fast aim" - so you need to use the reticle-aim option instead, but that [i]moves the camera entirely[/i] without pausing the game, so now you can aim better but at the expense of not being able to see where your character is.
[b]The enemy AI[/b]. Sometimes this manifests in ways that help you (there's no scaling-response from most enemies, and they don't notice or react to e.g. several corpses of their fellow gang members lying around, as long as they didn't see or hear you kill them), others in ways that suck (in combat they always know where you are and can aim accordingly, including projectiles - and they also always know where your projectiles are being thrown).
[b]The boss fights[/b] - these are in a way a combination of previous issues, but nonetheless it's worth knowing that there are a couple of these and they are vexatious. For one of them it's possible (though not mentioned in-game) to get an assist from an NPC if you have completed their side-missions beforehand - but even then I had to look up a guide to figure out how to beat them. And the final mission is the only wave-based level in the game where failing sends you back to wave 1 rather than using a per-wave checkpoint system. Callback to old-school difficulty options? Cheap way of bumping difficulty? Both? That'll depend on the player, but it's hard to argue it makes the game better, and they [i]will[/i] suck the joy out of the game while you're stuck on them. You'll get shot through cover. You'll get to read the same ****ing boss monologue every time you die. You'll swear a vendetta against the camera and aiming systems. And after a while you'll start wondering if a game you've stopped enjoying is still worth your time.
[b]The alternate mission types[/b] I respect the desire to introduce additional mission types, but the end results - specifically the racing and parkour missions - don't work well. The programming for the racing missions definitely needs a lot of refinement, and the parkour missions just felt frustrating rather than a fun challenge.
So yes, the game has flaws. Sizeable flaws. And yet, when you're not fighting the camera, and particularly when you're just mooching around the city looking for secrets or just taking in the music and scenery... it has a lot to offer. Some of its flaws will undoubtedly be in part due to this being the first game developed by its creators, with presumably limited resources for play-testing and iterative feedback-driven development. But I can't mention that without also giving credit for just how well they handled the good parts - because the stuff that they got right here, they did [i]excellently[/i].

Short review: Unfortunately, despite its premises and graphical design's wonders, gameplay is, simply put, boring.
This is not even a ''bad'' gameplay, because its ideas are actually pretty interesting, but the entire game falls flat quite fast due to its repetitive missions. Quite the shame, because ideas and setting were really something else.

Tokyo 42 es un indie totalmente recomendable. Visualmente transmite la sensación de estar viendo un pequeño diorama desde distintas perspectivas, y junto a su música genera esa atmósfera futurista presente en juegos como Deus Ex.
Como aspecto negativo, lo único que puedo señalar es que al cambiar la perspectiva en pleno combate se vuelve un poco un despelote. Fuera de eso, el juego no tiene mayores problemas, es lo que es, un indie bastante divertido para pasar el rato.

游戏主要有两个不足。一是主线剧情略显生硬和老套。[spoiler]不过倒数第4关的氛围感不错，在诡异的背景音乐之下，所有市民的行为都变得十分异常，蜂拥而上，追着主角跑，而且其中还混杂着危险的复仇者，让人想到经典电影《我，机器人》里面的情节。个人认为，如果把这个设计一直延续到杀死最终boss之后，那就更好了。[/spoiler]
二是游戏独特的视角带来了许多游玩上的不便。由于画面不能够自由拉进拉远（事实上是可以缩放的，但幅度很小，几乎可以忽略不计），并且摄像机镜头只有八个固定的角度，所以在地形复杂的区域，玩家的视角很容易被建筑遮挡，在执行潜行任务的时候，这一点显得尤其致命。当然这种不便之处对于游戏整体的影响也是见仁见智了，俗话说得好，彼之feature，吾之bug。一些玩家认为平白增加难度的设计，对另一些玩家来说可能就是有趣的游戏机制。至少对我而言，这种视角遮挡导致的信息观察不完全，某种程度上增加了潜行的紧张感，并且也没有导致游戏过难。然而本就不擅长竞速游戏的我，在玩摩托车比赛的这个支线任务的时候，着实是被劝退了。
除此之外有一个槽点是，这个游戏里面的手雷似乎显得有点太强了，只要视线能看多远，手雷就能扔多远，不知道在2042年的东京是不是由于结婚率过低，人人都练出了超级麒麟臂。
制作组在游戏里面增加了收集任务，可以通过望远镜来发现城市中有趣的人和事物。完成剧情任务的玩家可以一边探索地图设计，一边完成收集。然而由于这部分似乎缺少一点引导，我是一个都没有找到。

Greatest vibes, music, art. That is the first game, where architecture stood out to me and indeed, one of the creators is an architect. I like the geometricality of it so much, that I'm going to leave positive review, but the gameplay is not good.
One of the main ideas, as I understand, is to make a puzzle out of perspective. Isometric projection, fixed view angles obfuscate a lot of information, and transversing/shooting requires understanding of environment's geometry, so the act of viewing an environment from multiple fixed angles and choosing one of them as the main for each action event becomes a challenge. Considering how amazing and diverse the geometry and design of the environment is, at first I was really excited about this novel gameplay. I would even call it different genre. But unfortunately this puzzly gameplay clashes with the most prominent part of the game - pretty standart bullet hell shooter with cover. You can find in the comments many examples of why this mix feels extremely frustrating and unfair. Besides the shooter, there's a lot of exploration and secret-hunting, and these parts of my playthrough I definitely found very enjoyable! It's such a shame that 50-70% of the time is spent in shooter mode. For my skill level, I found that the most effective tactic is to shoot as many bullets as possible in the general direction of the enemy, while concentrating on dodging and praying. In tough fights it works with probability of 10%, so you just replay every fight 10 times. If doesn't work - throw 100 grenades. Other approaches either less effective, or much slower and bore me to death.
I wonder if it is feasible to get rid of bullet hell aspect completely, make impact of the shots instanteneous, after the warning and add some gadgets for transversal through walls/ceilings, mind posession, etc; making it much more of a tactical experience, which more leans into unique geometric puzzle. But you need a really good game designer who can spend all of their time on solving this.

A world with colors as vibrant as a toy box and a futuristic Tokyo filled with playful concepts. While there were a few disappointing aspects, such as camera angles and controls that could use improvement, spending time in the beautifully stylish Neo Tokyo was truly enjoyable.
Can't play this game as use RUN RIGHT mouse button control and can't change this so i can't play it.

The entire "theme" of the game is the fact that it looks cool and is isometric. It's a stealth/action game that it's at the best point when you are actually doing stealth. The moment bullets start flying you have to fight both the AI moving around, shooting you, shooting where you will be when their bullet hits, and taking cover from your shots while you fight the controls and the camera to be able to see the enemies to begin with.
The game meets a difficulty spike when you fight a mecha and it only keeps going up. If you beat the game you will know what i mean when i say the fight against Wing made me just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ quit the game. The ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ went straight up into space against a character that takes several shots to kill (you only take one) while he's jumping around quickly in an unpredictable manner in an area full of obstacles and cover at the same time he's firing a machine gun (that, let me remind you, fires not where you are but also in an interception if you're moving forcing you to dodge) AND spams you with grenades in a nonstop manner.
The game looks amazing, the character portraits are ugly, the story wasn't the worst in the world but it was simple and to the point, but the AI is designed to be pure ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, Wing's fight was just peak ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and it wasn't even the last mission.
Your eyes are either looking where you are, where you're moving, and where the bullets coming your way are so that you can avoid them WHILE you avoid falling into the void and dying, OR they are looking at the enemies, where they are going, and if you have a clear shot at them. Enemy AI does NOT have this problem and even if they are the regular ones that take 1 shot to kill, let me remind you you are alone fighting several of them at the same time.

Stylish, fun mash-up of some old-school games (sort of GTA meets Syndicate, somehow). Most content is great, some is a bit filler-y (~20 kill the gang missions for some reason, for instance, when most of the missions are quirky and fun).

Okay, this game is cool, it has a cool idea, but I frequently get killed by bullets that fire after I kill a guy. It's happened about 3 or 4 times in my first hour of the game.
So I'll be honest I originally found out about the game because Go Go Go came across my spotify and was a total ear-worm
I'm just over four hours in and so far delighted by the amount of content. The atmosphere in the soundtrack is carried over into the gameplay. It's floaty and dreamlike and a little jank but in a totally charming kind of way

Underrated game! Cool mechanics make you feel powerful without making the game too easy. The exploration is fun, and there are usually a couple of ways to approach each mission. A good game for completionists, as there are achievements for completing missions with stealth, melee kills only, etc.
Tokyo 42 has a nice sheen but is a lot more janky than you'd hope, with a very lacklustre method of getting dialogue across, silent text boxes that make this feel like a Flash game with the controls following suit. Direction being maintained as you turn the camera is incredibly annoying and this physics system is not at all made for platforming. Environments aren't especially readable, the soundtrack is oddly mismatching and everything just seems to fall short and a bit too unfriendly to the player.
Perhaps some of these issues will go away with some more familiarisation, but you can't refund a product after two hours of playtime and I definitely don't see its worth at the moment, even having got it hugely marked down on sale.
Possibly the most bug ridden game I've played in recent years. There's a great - if finicky - game underneath, but it's basically unplayable due to all the bugs. The depth of field will randomly miss align, blurring your main character. There's a giant onscreen 'tip' section that can't be hidden that frequently hides the action, causing your death. The gamepad support glitches out randomly. The game simply crashes occasionally when your character dies. It's deeply frustrating, as the art style is great, and there's an addictive Hotline Miami style gameplay loop. But it's a game requiring stability and fine grained control, and it has neither. Devs seem uninterested in fixing also - which is frankly gross, given the game is still on sale and got a lot of hype on release. I'd personally be ashamed to have something straight up broken with my name on it, especially as it's obviously from a tiny dev team.
Game goes into endless loading after pressing spacebar on the title screen. I've bought it years ago and I can't play again because of that.

I remember this game being a lot of fun, but the multiplayer does not appear to be working. The server list is completely empty, and Steam friends are unable to see or join my online games. Friends playing through Amazon games are also not able to see or join servers.
Do not buy if you wanted to play this game with friends.

Neat little indie title with a lot of style.
You get framed for a murder and make your way up the food chain to find and kill who framed you. The story and setting is somewhat reminiscent of some movies like Equilibrium and maybe The Matrix.
Even though your view can get obstructed by the environment from time to time depending on where you are, as an isometric shooting game, the way it deals with verticality works pretty well, showing you a clear X/Y axis and what's blocking your line of sight.
In a Hitman vein, you can try to stealth your way most of the time or just go guns blazing, which is always fun. There could have been more use to the disguise/suits though.
Some side missions are pretty annoying but the main story flows without much hassle. If you don't expect too much getting into it and enjoy indie games, I'd say that you're in for a pleasant surprise.
You're wrongly accused of murder, so naturally, you become a hitman to clear your name. It's a neon-soaked, candy-coated visual trip, but the camera and controls can be as frustrating as a stubborn toddler.
Then there's the missions – about as clear as mud. You're in the thick of it, trying to figure out if you've completed those sneaky ninja side quests, only to realize you're already at the exit. And guess what? No mulligans allowed. Talk about a missed opportunity!
But here's the kicker, folks. The straw that broke the camel's back – "meet Sasha." You think you're just gonna waltz on by, schmooze a little, and call it a day. But no! Turns out you gotta go all James Bond, don a disguise, and take out a small army just to check off a box. Now, that's what I call a plot twist.
So, while the game's got its highs, it's also got its fair share of lows. And for me, well, let's just say it's a hard pass.
Couldn't beat the first race because if you don't know the track like the bottom of your nuts, you are instantly in last place.
Needs re-balanced badly. Enemies are aimbots and rarely ever miss a shot. I'm trying to be sneaky around a corner? Nah, guy on top of the building saw me already and sniped me from somewhere I couldn't even see.
Fix your camera. I like the gimmick, don't get me wrong, but the way you did it was TRASH. If I rotate the cam while I'm trying to shoot, my cursor shouldn't move THAT FAR from where I was actually aiming.
If you buy this, wait until it is on deep discount. Not even for $20. The hype is all because it was advertised as a "GTA-roguelike."

I love this game so much. It reminds me of the classic Syndicate games, but trading the dystopian cyberpunk flavor for this kind of amazing psychedelic cassette futurism utopian vibe, and it’s fantastic. The world is rich, vibrant and enticing with secrets and unlockables sprinkled throughout to encourage exploration and puzzle solving, music is a great palette of lo-fi and ambient tunes that helps seal the deal on the texture of the whole experience. Gameplay is solid and works well, though as with any isometric game like this, in parts you’re gona have to get the feel for it a bit, but you can totally cruise in it just fine. It is its own thing, and I absolutely recommend giving it a spin
I have wanted this game since before it was released, for all the reasons people praise it. I particularly love the trailer song. I bought it for myself this past winter sale. But for all the reasons the other plentiful neg reviews list, it's just horrendous; primarily the camera and aiming system combined with having only 1 hit-point.
Artificial difficulty does not make a fun challenge, it's just bad game design.
My disappointment, is immeasurable; and my day is ruined.

Tokyo 42 is an isometric open world action game.
I went in completely blind and with zero expectations and i must say i am thoroughly surprised. It's been a while since a game got me captivated as much as Tokyo 42 did.
Gameplay follows the same formula just like any other open world game. You get various missions and uncover the story while going through them. There are also a lot of side missions, different types of collectibles and a lot to do even after finishing the game.
I can't say that i liked the story since i couldn't understand what was going on most of the time but i didn't find it that important anyways. What made the game great for me was exploring the world.
The world the devs built is just incredible. You want to explore every corner and each question mark on the map gets you curious as to how to get it and what it is. The easy to navigate UI also majorly contributes to how great it feels to explore.
There are also some issues you will definitely encounter. Major one is the camera angles. Sometimes buildings can entirely block your view and your ability to only rotate the camera 45 degrees is not helping the situation. Also sometimes your cursor loses control. These honestly didn't affect me much but can be infuriating for some.
To be honest, there aren't many negatives i can point out. If you are intrigued by its visuals, i highly suggest you to give it a shot. I can't stress enough how much i loved it and for a game i probably got in a bundle, Tokyo 42 delivered an incredible experience.

世界観としては近未来の日本（？）という感じで、”サイバーパンク”や”シティーポップ”というような言葉で形容されるような雰囲気です。スクリーンショットにもあるように常に上から見下ろすカメラアングルになっています。マップがそれなりに作り込まれており、視点を回しているとジオラマを見ているような楽しさがあります。進めていくと行動できる範囲が広がっていくのが面白く、将来的にどこまでいけるのか楽しみです。オープンワールドマップで、思ったより大きい印象を受けました。
メインはシングルプレイで、マルチプレイはマッチングできないと思います。
シングルプレイは殺人の濡れ衣を着せられた主人公が、その謎を追うために殺し屋をやるというストーリーです。ただ、日本語訳がそこまで丁寧ではないので、なんとなくで話を追っていけばいいと思います。（殺しをしていない証明をするために殺しをするという矛盾を感じたのですが、この世界ではどうやら完全に死なないようなので、なんらかの道理があるのでしょう）
ゲームとしては殺し屋のゲームなのでステルスキルを狙っていくことが基本的なのですが、方法を指定されることは少ないのでARでドンパチすることもでき、自由度は高いです。撃ち合いになるとプレイヤーは一撃で死亡する関係で、弾幕シューティングのような立ち回りが求められます。またサブミッションなどでキャラコンが求められるものもあり、全体的にアクション難易度は高めです。

В то же время, за занавеской пикселей и минимализма скрывается проблема, которую человечество пытается решить с самого начала своего появления - бессмертия. Вопрос в следующем: какова цена бессмертия? И как это скажется на настоящем и будущем?[/b]

Главным героем является безымянный парень или девушка [strike]точный пол можно установить по своему усмотрению, поскольку в игре доступна смена половой ориентации[/strike], обвиняемого в убийстве, а именно теракт в особняке. [spoiler]Нас спасает загадочный парень по имени Тайко, который нам объясняет, что истинный виновник связан с компанией по производству таблеток Nanomed - лекарства, благодаря которому можно обрести физическое бессмертие. Выполнив несколько поручений, мы завоевываем ее доверие и теперь можем выступить против корпорации.[/spoiler] Параллельно с этим на улицах бушует один психопат по имени Винг [spoiler]- исполнитель теракта в особняке, после которого наш герой стал самым разыскиваемым преступником.[/spoiler] Убив его в поединке, мы получаем его воспоминания. Мари ему поручает устроить теракт, а после совершить самоуничтожение. Теперь все карты раскрыты.
[spoiler]Мы организовываем взрыв на заводе Nanomed и после нападения, Мари объявляет нас вновь врагом №1, но теперь помимо охраны, на нас будет охотиться весь город, в прямом смысле.[/spoiler] Но это не спасло Мари. Проникнув в храм, случается финальная схватка, где она признает свое поражение и погибает от руки героя. На этом история заканчивается.

[b]Как я писал выше, мир четырехмерный. Это значит, что у нас есть полный обзор мира со всех сторон. Основная часть игры строится на покорении компании Nanomed. Параллельно с этим, у нас есть несколько человек, дающих дополнительные миссии. Задания совершенно разные: от устранения банды, до гонок на мотоциклов. Сам город, ввиду того, что можно запутаться в обзоре пространства представляет из себя огромное поле для экспериментов. Но надо быть осторожным, можно вывалится за пределы карты. Также по всему городу разбросаны краски для оружия, одежды и маски котов, после собирания которых мы получим достижения[/b]

Le jeu est un mélange unique de parkour, d'infiltration et de combat, situé dans un univers futuriste stylisé. Les mouvements de parkour sont très bien exécutés, ce qui rend l'exploration du monde ouvert vraiment amusante. Le jeu offre une grande variété de missions et de défis, mais l'histoire manque de profondeur et les ennemis peuvent parfois être trop faciles à tuer, ce qui peut rendre le jeu un peu trop facile. Malgré ses défauts, Tokyo 42 est un jeu amusant pour ceux qui cherchent une expérience d'action futuriste unique.

tokyo42塑造了一个近乎乌托邦一样抹消了死亡的东京城市，就如这城市看上去一样，每个人过着一种醉生梦死的生活，当然了，事情不会这么简单，你作为误入歧途的杀手（？）需要去探究一些城市背后的秘密。。就这么一回事的游戏。
除去别具一格的艺术风格之外，它居然是一个合格的沙盒游戏，各种各样的任务和收藏星罗散布填补了这个光怪陆离的城市，玩起来还挺不错的。
就是视角和操作，玩起来需要一些时间来适应。

First off the game is really fun, good game play.
The reason I gave it a negative review is for a few glaring reasons:
- the motorcycle missions are extremely frustrating because in the tutorial on the side it says nothing about going faster with your run button, then to top that the race is impossible due to the controls, you cant go as fast as the computer, you cant steer as good and ect. The only way to win the race is to cheat and that is going backwards over the finish line 3 times.
- having to jump in mid air to get items in races can be extremely frustrating due to not knowing where you are in comparison trying to pickup the item.
- missions are not clear if you completed the ninja, roninja side option missions while the mission is going, you only find out after you go to the exit of the mission and once you exit the mission, you can't redo it.
- The mission "meet Sasha" you need to disguise yourself wearing a suit to get past the guards which are many, the mission made it seem like you just sneak by the suits and talk to her, not that I had to kill those suits to get the side option mission completed. This was straw that broke the camel's back for me and gave it a NO.

Лучший Киберпанк, Игра помогает расслабиться, а так же представляет Головоломку с элементами экшена. в ней большой открытый мир, множество забавных заданий, сюжет примитивный но даёт основную завязку. множество вариантов убивать врагов, стеелс, и даже переодевание шмоток, Бессмертие всех НПС, обнесено сюжетом. короче, Покупайте игру, не пожалеете если любите головоломки, бодрый экшен, и в меру комичные сценки.

Get it on sale, for $1.99 you could do a lot worse. Pretty unique visual style, but the camera and the controls could definitely be better implemented.
The camera is atrocious. Makes big fights and missions near impossible. The final boss fight is a complete ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with how much you need to move the camera around (enemies coming at you from every direction. I would've loved to finish this game but I have to put it down for good as I've spent 3 hours on the final boss and never gotten past wave 4.
Lots of good reviews for the game, but look at the evidence. Take a loot at the achievement stats for this game. The only achievement that more than 40% of players have gotten is complete the intro. after that, only around 30% of people beat act one and only 9% have finished act 2. A very sad 6% of people have beat the story, and it's blatantly obvious why that is. Cannot recommend this game.
v1.1.2時点では難易度イージーが追加され、3回まで攻撃を防いでくれるシールドが主人公に付与されています。
イージー選ぶなんて腑抜けだぜ～みたいな考えは捨ててイージーを選びましょう。心からの忠告です。
なお難易度クラシックという敵味方の弾が遅いバージョンもありますが自分の狙撃銃の弾速まで遅くなるのでオススメしません。
ゲーム自体は見た目よりずっと普通のアクションシューティングです。クリアまで8.5時間ほど。
戦闘・ステルス・狙撃ミッションと明確にやることが分かれています。ミッション中に一時的なセーブが可能。
サイドミッションでバイクレースとパルクールがありますが難易度…というか操作難易度が高いので触れなくても問題ないです。
BGMやグラフィックはオシャレで◎。戦闘も慣れれば正面で撃ち合えて楽しい。
UIやファストトラベル的なものも素早く操作できシステム周りはよく整備されている。日本語訳も完璧でその辺のストレスは無い…のだが、ゲームデザインが死亡やり直し上等なためとにかく死ぬ、失敗、死ぬ、失敗の繰り返しになります。
恐らくストーリー上の死が軽い世界観を出そうとしたのだろうけどとにかく死ぬのでプレイの際は覚悟してください。
またマップの回転を行った際に照準を見失う、遠くの建物が手前にきて画面を隠すなど細かな不満もあった。
なお実績はクリア後に回収した方が圧倒的に楽なのでクリアまでは気張らずにやったほうが良いです。

Неплохая индюшатина, которую сложно определить жанрово, пока не поиграешь достаточно времени.
Может показаться что это маленький игрушечный Hitman, но в реальности это GTA 2.5 в стилистике медикаментозно-счастливого якобы-Токио 2042 года.
Сюжет прост: ГГ подставили, надо очистить свое имя, попутно убив примерно два полка нехороших человек и всех к ним приравненных. Попутно, ясное дело, распутав глобальный заговор. Все это сделано в такой радужной «антидепрессантной» тональности, что любую жестокость в игре не воспринимаешь серьезно.
Впрочем этого и не требуется. Сюжет служит поводом провести игрока по всем районам города, показав достопримечательности через сюжетные и дополнительные задания, попутно ненавязчиво поясняя механики игры. Главная ценность игры - это сам город: большая, красивая, разнообразная песочница, по которой интересно пробираться от района к району и пытаться достать секреты (отмечены на карте). После исследования на своих двоих становится доступно быстрое перемещение в ключевые точки, так что паркур по крышам не станет работой.
Впрочем паркура в игре достаточно, т.к. это основной способ перемещения. Есть конечно и задания с ним связанные, но это боль: почти все из них я закончил буквально на последней секунде после 15-20 попыток.
Боевка неплохая, соответствует требованиям игры, но не без проблем, в частности требуется изрядная координация движений чтобы спозиционировать прицел в двух плоскостях относительно текущего угла камеры и одновременно постоянно двигаться, уворачиваясь от пуль. Тем не менее задачу выполняет и к ней можно приноровиться.
Особо выделяется стелс, т.к. игра подталкивает остаться незамеченным и/или вынести всех охранников помимо главной цели. Оцениваемых игрой заданий примерно половина, но и из оставшихся более аккуратный подход предпочтителен (и даже обязателен, если вы играете на любой сложности помимо самой низкой). Враги не реагируют на трупы товарищей, лишь на вид ГГ, звуки выстрелов и вид летящих гранат. Общая тупость ИИ позволяет потихоньку выносить врагов гранатами («по стелсу», ага), а как только достанете снайперку с глушителем (чем раньше - тем лучше), сможете выкашивать целые этажи в течение пары минут просто подбирая выгодные точки обстрела.
Таким образом сюжет, стелс и открытые перестрелки (учитывая максимальную хрупкость ГГ) нельзя назвать выдающимися, но все вместе вкупе с большой и красивой песочницей-городом работает довольно неплохо. Игра проходится часа за 3-4 без доп заданий, вместе с ними уйдет часов 10, еще пара часов на обучение полетам с помощью бананов и сбор оставшихся секретов.
Итого: если вас привлекает GTA-образный игровой процесс (без машин, но с со стелсом), то можно взять по большой скидке, игра скрасит 2-3 вечера. DLC не берите, там 90 дополнительных заданий в 4 категориях (стелс без убийств, паркур, арены, мотоцикл) - это для тех, кому [i]очень сильно[/i] не хватило всего этого в основной игре.

前面觉得挺好玩的，赛车被恶心了可以绕道，但是最后一关真的恶心死我了……
又被恶心若干次之后终于通了，具体来说……
1. 赛车不会做可以不做，做完自己没玩过么……
2. 前面多波敌人都是死了同一拨继续，就最后一关从头开始……
3. 两波之间还有废话，每次都要听真是浪费时间……
4. 并且还有六波…… 见过六段变身的boss没有？……
看看总共只有4%的人通关就应该知道有多恶心。
说起来steam是不是应该显示通关百分比用于参考……

게임이 재미있는데 평점이 좀 낮은데 뭔가 움직임이 자연스럽다고 느껴지지 않아서 그런것도 있고 난이도가 좀 높은편입니다. 사이드미션 합치면 플레이타임은 10시간정도 될거같습니다.

REALLY reminds me of the old Syndicate game. You'll feel right at home if you're familiar with the Bullfrog classic. Aiming reminds me a bit of Brigador. Really nice city to explore and many missions to do.
I think Tokyo 42 shows incredible potential as a game. It has a competent idea with obviously talented and passionate people behind the project, but I think by the word go the product was going to be a series of compromises so that its ideas wouldn't tread on the toes of gameplay. Main problem being that designing the game in an isometric viewpoint, creating an aiming system that could navigate 3D spaces while accounting for depth is incredibly difficult to balance. I think the team definately designed something competent, but still felt like throwing paper plains as compared to shooting, as you never really knew where the projectile will go.
Meanwhile, this isometric camera is divided between looking in an 8-way rotational style control scheme, which makes it incredibly difficult as you only have a finite number of viewpoints to chose from with some buildings and structures that may entirely obscure half of said viewpoint, making it a game of which camera is the least intrusive to your task.
Finally the movement, which is also tied to the camera's system. The only way to play this game is to have the camera fully zoomed out, as most times firefights will devolve into trying to spot the distant enemy taking potshots. That said however, this makes the bullet-hell nature of the game counter-intuitive. In most bullet hells, the number of bullets is usually offset by the fact that the whole 'aiming' thing is more of an afterthought than an active process, Either that or your hurtbox is smaller than your hitbox, or projectiles can cancel out one another, giving more room to maneuver.
All this is to say that zoomed out, having to dart your eyes from one end of the screen to lead your shots and back to your character to dodge makes combat feel more like a blind roid-rage where you're all attack, with your understanding of defence purely being in moving side to side, or a game of peakaboo, where you camp and let all the enemies come to you. Couple this with movement, which feels incredibly slow being zoomed out and it's like trying to move with an etcho-sketch, which would be fine because all the buildings are also made with that etcho-sketch, but your little cousin is deadset on playing Army and wants you to know how much he's shooting you dead.
None of this is to say this game isn't enjoyable. Maybe I played it wrong, I don't know. I actually do think very highly of it for trying so much different and actually thinking through its conflicting design instead of just copy-pasting other games' ideas and putting them in without any consistency. Its art is actually really beautiful, and while its core story isn't going to be made into a movie anytime soon, its core world and the subversion of cyberpunk tropes make it worthwile. It also just lets you be an assassin in neo-tokyo, and stays true to the vibe of the game through and through, it's just a shame that these sets of ideas don't seem to fit together as neat, and perhaps never could've.

Works really well when it's about navigating the city. Tokyo (It's not called "Tokyo 42". I don't think it's a Babylon 5 situation, but this is clearly a new Tokyo) is worth the whole price of admission. If you're not buying for Sky Tokyo, I have bad news: [b]The camera hates you[/b]. An isometric view with tilt shift is cute for exploration puzzles, but nauseating when you have to move, aim and rotate the world in a hurry. At best, it sets a pulpy noir tone where violence just happens. A tone that's unsupported by the mush plot and more bullet hell missions than you'd expect. My advice is to just wander and get in little fights! It's so fun I promise.

相当小众，意外好玩。
美术风格和地图设计都非常惊艳，而且与游戏机制相呼应。几个长距离狙击任务简直是地图设计和游戏机制融合的教科书。此外玩家利用多种多样的移动方式在「立体都市」中navigate的体验也非常好。
潜行游戏，潜行游戏，潜行游戏。
大多数任务和解谜难度曲线较平滑。经过几个大解谜拿到狙击枪以后，基本可以利用地图设计和视野逻辑在任务区域外长距离击杀大多目标。
近战手感较为一言难尽，平台跳跃手感（尤其是有了喷气背包以后）较为一言难尽，不过基本不影响游玩。
开车手感非常一言难尽，完全会影响到游玩，但却设计了多个难度曲线不断飞升的驾驶任务，成功阻止我全成就。
非常意外的是似乎没有任何人模仿这游戏的美术、地图设计（能做出「立体都市」体验的游戏很少见）或者游戏机制（赛博朋克独立游戏美术到了今天几乎已经发展到了你抄我我抄你），可能是因为知名度不高吧。
What a fun and funky game! It was pure joy to be in this version of a futuristic Tokyo. Very bright and very colourful. All good things! Quite a few missions, nothing toooo difficult with a bit of perserverance, with a soundtrack to wrap everything beautifully. One minor problem: The isometric view and camera controls with the hit-or-miss aiming at times. But the world is breathtaking so that's my main memory of it and not the wonky controls.
