credits better than the game itself
I went into this knowing it be just a short story, but DAMN is it underwhelming.
All interactivity felt tacked on, your character's place walking around & interacting with the story was very disorienting at almost all times, and a low locked FOV gave me nausea the whole time. The story isn't even interesting. The steam store page description is as interesting as this game's story.

Thirty Flights of Loving is an odd indie title that's very simplistic but yet tells a deep story. Very much like Gravity Bone, it has a lot of interesting things going on that makes you want to know more about the setting, the character and everything else that's happening.

Thirty Flights of Loving es una mini experiencia jugable. Acompañamos a un trío de personajes envueltos en una trama delictiva durante lo que no sabemos si es su plan, o un sueño febril un poco loco. Pero claro, depende de nosotros entender qué ocurre.
Hay que tener en cuenta que este juego es uno de esos ejemplos que en su día ayudaron a redefinir el paisaje independiente en el mundo de los videojuegos, ya que usa una narrativa no lineal que te arroja a la cara la información a través de las distintas escenas. Hoy en día hay cosas más actuales, aunque igual de experimentales, que realizan ejercicios exploratorios en nuevas formas de desarrollar una narrativa, por lo que este Thirty Flights of Loving se observa más como una reliquia de su tiempo.
En resumen, muy recomendado como experiencia jugable de 15 minutitos si podéis conseguirlo hiper-rebajado.
i liked it way more then i thought i would fantastic game
This game is in the book and list 1001 Video Games You Must Play Before You Die. I agree that even though it's short (maybe 13 minutes) it's worth it. Gravity Bone, a previous game is included in the game, but it crashed when I tried to continue with a saved game. So, the main game yes, but Gravity Bone no.

Just like the developers previous game in the series, Gravity Bone (2008) which is also included in this, this game only took me 12 minutes to play through on a pretty calm playthrough where I tried to see all there was to it. But while that older game was mainly big on the comedy, this one gave me the feels as well.
The game features a developer commentary which deserves a replay to read the meta text and watch the work in progress timelapse videos included, but it is indeed very short. If it's worth the money is of course up to you as an individual. Gravity Bone can be played for free here on Steam so check that one out and see if it's something you want more of.
For fans of Jazzpunk and Gravity Bone like myself, you'll probably like it.

maybe it was really the groundbreaking thing that they talked about back in the day but I cannot imagine that anyone gets their times worth out of this thing today, (idk why, maybe the landscapes moved on) and thats saying something because this thing is 14 minutes long. oh yeah, and definitely not your moneys worth (go buy that soda you've been thinking about)

La verdad es que un juego que dura 15 minutos y que aporta poco o nada en cuanto a historia y jugabilidad, no lo puedo recomendar.

This game should be free. Just get Gravity Bone and there you go. I appreciate the visuals but, I highly suggest not paying money for this. There is actually more objectively meaningful interaction in Gravity Bone than in TFOL; I don't even want to call it a "game." It's an interactive art piece at best. At one point I wasn't sure if the game glitched or, it was part of the visuals. There are objects you can pick up, or not, doesn't matter as far as getting through the "story." There's at least one object you can pick up but can't put down, just stays on screen for no apparent reason. I just wish there was more to do in this to make it more of a "game." At least in Gravity Bone you HAD to obtain items to progress. Can't recommend. You can watch videos of this game on Youtube.
Blendo Games has always been a cult classic of mine even back in the day when I first played Gravity Bone. They have this unique artstyle where it looks like a bit of a comic book-type aesthetic and then have those cartoonish blocky heads, but still manage to visually tell a story throughout their shorter games.
Thirty Flights of Loving is no different. It is about a trio of heisters and the planning and execution of their job, all told achronologically with some interesting cuts and cinematography here and there.
There isn't exactly much I can say without spoiling the rest as the game is admittedly quite short, but I gave the game two playthroughs, one just experiencing it and another playthrough just to read the developer commentary and get some thoughts as to how some things in the game came to look the way they do, which game some very interesting insight into how a game is developed.
Once you are done doing that you can also play Gravity Bone, which comes packaged-in with this game (as it was always a free game).
What I find most impressive is that all of this runs on the Quake 2 Engine by the way. Yes. Quake 2!
What I find less impressive is that this game costs 5€ default, going down to 2,50€ during sales which is a bit of a fairer price for this game. But I do believe in paying developers for a job well done, and I certainly have never been disappointed with one of Blendo's titles.
So here's to you Brendon Chung. Keep making more good stuff!

补完了杀手组中女杀手的形象（正片和两个关卡可操控角色应该不是同一个）。
感觉有点盖里奇又有点王家卫吧（阳台扔橘子那段）。

4/4: A non-linear heist. What it lacks in gameplay, it makes up in storytelling. There's a lot there in between its surrealism. Weirdly, the cinematography is what stood out the most to me. Everything is "shot" very precisely. Music is great too. It's a fun, odd, tidy little package.

It's 2025 and this is game design history. In a niche of a niche of a niche, in a world that hardly exists anymore, Thirty Flights of Loving was the indie that whizzed past me time and again. The refined beats and raw essence of a crime-caper story, bolstered by the underlying (literal) commentary from Blendo Game developer Bredon Chung.
This is an art piece and a game. Short but bursting with the flavors of experimentation and asking "sooooooo....what is a game??". Will I return to it? probably not. Did it have an immediate impact on me today and a temporal wallop from 13 years of playing, watching and absolutely smothering my little, shriveled brain in games nonsense? Yes. Yes it did.
If you were a game-obsessed weirdo in the 2010s and feel like you're way too passionate about indie games at the drop of a hat, this will speak to you on some level.
If none of this sounds like you, give it a shot anyway. It's short film theory and narrative applied to subtractive game design and it slaps.

the kinda game you buy when you should be saving that money for something more better with long term payoff especially in dark horrid times.
Game is very empty, it's like a dozen minutes worth of short scenes with almost zero gameplay. I did the game once and did not realize it was the whole thing, at the end I was like "ok that was a peculiar introduction, now how do I play the actual game", turns out it was the whole game... The scenes paint a story but nothing specialy interesting.
There is a second game included called "gravity bone" with a bit more interaction for a dozen extra minutes of content.
Also for the little interactivity the game, it still managed to do it bad, there is an awfull mouse acceleration that make the camera control a bit nauseating, and the defaut mouse sensitivity is set way to high...
Probably the most disapointing purchase I've ever made.
i loved Gravity bone but I was putting off getting and playing this game for so long because i couldnt justify to myself paying 10 bucks for a game i knew was tiny, but suddenly i got a huge urge to play this for myself finally so i bit the bullet and man i am glad i did

This is one of the most interesting and unique narrative experiences you can play, but if you are expecting some kind of gameplay you will be disappointed.

There's a lot more game in most walking sims than this has. Nonetheless, walking sim is the best characterization of this game, in that occasionally you need to move in a direction for the storyline to progress.
That said the storytelling was very good, and I came away strongly wishing that there had been a game to go with it. From that perspective it is sort of interesting as an exploration of what would count as a minimally interactive storytelling experience. But, to be clear a Youtube video playthrough of this game would be 95% as satisfying as playing it I think.
Note that there is also a bonus included here called Gravity Bone that seems to be mostly gameplay and minimal story. It seems fairly forgettable though.

I've ended up playing this a number of times over the years. Each time I'm left with a feeling of remorse, like I've betrayed someone. A sadness, but only the cathartic part of it, like after a good cry. I don't know how you create an experience like Thirty Flights. If the developer even intended it to be a thing that brings out this very specific emotion, or if it just happened. But I love it. One of my favourite short video game experiences.

I'm not even sure if this is a game or some sort of first attempt to make something. This "game" lasts around 15 minutes of walking, and it is the trippiest thing ever. I have no idea what I just witnessed, and I don't want to understand at this point.
The fact that they are even charging $5 for this is highway robbery.

Delightful short film. "Show don't tell" in essence. And it includes the previous film "Gravity Bone"
3/10 Not really much here, 2 little stories, 1 about a team of robbers that die, and 1 about a saboteur who dies, certainly not worth the 5 dollar asking price. Felt like the the dev wanted to make sure films instead.
Really great game as a model for thinking about game design. Very clear vision and intentionality on display.

Right, so as far as walking simulators go, there's not much to chew on here, especially for the asking price. Music and sound are nice. The "prequel" game is more interesting than the main attraction, imo. I guess if you got this game in a bundle, as I must have done, and you like short narrative walking sims as I do, it's worth checking out at least.
Otherwise, probs not.

Nice, simple walking sim showing vignettes from the lives of a group of carreer criminals.
Not much to this, but it's not too expensive. Treat it like an interactive art piece.

A 15 minute experience that feels cooler than most full games. A weird and short story about family, heist and criminals. You can collect weapons and ammo, but you never shoot anything, which kind of sucks, but oh well.
2014年的时候在一个独立游戏合集包里玩过《重力骨头》，里面很多处理都挺令人印象深刻的[spoiler]其实别的画面都有点淡了，唯独那段聚光灯+跑步（有点像是《夏洛特烦恼》里面袁滑雪中一剪梅长叹的打光布置的那段）让我记得最为清晰[/spoiler]
仍是当年招牌式的在第一人称游戏里用蒙太奇的熟悉的味道，这里则更飞了，而且这个游戏进去也是移植模拟器那个意思，本身也集成了《重力骨头》。
这里玩下来印象最深的则是喝酒那段，以及最后关键时刻的几个交错的闪回，情绪拉的很高。喝酒那段第一次上楼了一开始差点找不着桌哈哈，然后蹦着跳着去找猫咪玩去了；然后喝得迷乱的时候的处理，想来应该是待很多年后别的段落又都已记不大清晰得时候还仍会记住的部分吧。
走来走去以及推着小车跑的时候，它闪烁，我的记忆也偶尔跟着闪烁，会涌出想到小时候第一次玩半条命在实验室走廊乱走的记忆，有时又会闪出马克思佩恩在那3D的建筑里带着枪跑的记忆...这大概是老3D游戏某些美学处理特有的回忆触发吧。倒是玩到最后要出去了，四下却都粉了，也不知道是兼容性问题材质乱了还是就这么处理的，又怪又应景的，有点跟2077黑梦那段似的了...
游戏里时代背景也有点意思，仍是说前面喝酒那段，天台随风摆荡的灯笼和不合时宜的气球慢慢飘的监控器，还有后来配合出现的乌鸦这个概念的用意...有点《追摄赤红年代末》那个意思...
我大概也会记得坐在摩托车后座的那一下[E]，然后恰到好处的戛然而止，然后展厅式的Credits，美满。
就是这一作感觉怎么比印象里重力骨头还要糙一些呢，谁前谁后？很多动画和节奏处理着急忙慌的...
喝酒那样的场景要是能再做两组就美好了。我还没看够啊！
最后就是这游戏居然默认会把我的副屏幕也作为显示区域..还得我手动先禁用副屏幕...亏你设置菜单里还一大堆选项。

I do love a good game where all the NPCs look at ya. Great cinematography, pacing, and presentation on display here. And I better learned about airplane aerodynamics. Also, it comes with Gravity Bones, which is also good.
I did have an issue with the PC version where it was displaying across my two monitors. I think I solved this by just going into the display settings and clicking Apply Changes.

Pretty cool, don't be confused though this is more of a spin off than a sequel since moments from the first game are hinted through the backgrounds and etc. Its sort of like an expansion of the first game, I just wish there was more...

if you change 1 option then the entire game becomes unplayable because the game is too big for your resolution
Truly a cinematic game. A lot to study here if you want to use games for storytelling. If you aren't though, this probably isn't gonna be for you.
This game cost me exactly the price of my weekly barista made coffee. I finished the game and the coffee at about the same time, but I got much more enjoyment out of the game--not to say it wasn't a good coffee.
This game and Gravity Bone (which can be played in this game, so that's pretty cool) are two games that I loved growing up. There's just something about the simplicity of both of the games that's just really enjoyable. It's funny, its art style is different and cool, and it's just all around an awesome experience that still holds up years after I originally played it. 10/10
