This game consists precisely of the elements that I either don't usually care about or straight up don't like in my games.

I bought this game on a whim mainly, because the visual caught my eye right away. The art and designs of the characters are absolutely amazing, the 3D cell shading really worked out well. Most styles don’t translate well; I wanted to just praise the art real quick.

The humor very much fits a “zillennial” spot and I can appreciate that. One can easily sympathize with the characters, even though their individual issues are distinct. Rarely do we see both sides of an argument or situation displayed and then peacefully and realistically resolved. While we don't learn a ton about the cast's backstories, we’re given their closure they were missing.

To me, the ending felt rather abrupt, I was honestly expecting more afterwards. That’s pretty much my only compliant tbh, I really enjoyed it. Also, in general rare to find media that fits your niche community LGBT+ and POC.

酷儿含量100%的喜剧，是由剧情向对话+滑板跑酷+回合制战斗+做饭组成的，战斗是qte，做饭是qte，摸狗也是qte，飞镖剑玉举重小游戏都是qte，含有大量qte！

文笔不仅平实还很幽默，三言两语就勾勒出一段爱恨情仇，整体比较无厘头，台词展开也很戏剧性，主角真的很bi氛围，既馋这个又馋那个好好笑。对话是全配音，选项给得很对我电波，和后面说话的内容不重复也不会有太多意想不到的转折，按照主角行事的逻辑都解释得通，再加上心魔家姐之声在旁一针见血的魅力吐槽，好刻薄好喜欢。

故事讲的是主角经历一段失败感情之后回到家乡小镇和前任们剖白过去拉拉扯扯和解长大的故事，讨论感情问题就难免讨论到人各自的性格，所以和npc之间会有体现于内心世界战斗的深入冲突性交谈。边边角角有很多印度文化描写很有意思，家里的小摆件、繁琐的婚礼、做菜靠感觉而不是测量等等。家庭氛围是属于既比较幸运却也有一些问题的，有充满爱的时刻也有很窒息的瞬间。这些所有和朋友和亲人复杂的感情揉到一起就很生活，平凡又跌跌撞撞，处理得很真实我很喜欢，虽然确实把事情摊出来讲很理想化，但是在这里能看到实际发生的可能性，人与人的关系不是那么非黑即白，大家都能保持联系、铺开来分析、弥补错误，就像妈妈说tyler就像女儿一样，哪怕和jala分手也不代表她们俩就没联系了，我觉得真的很幸福。

做饭的过程意外地很细致也很搞笑，比如洗手翻跟斗、菜刀抛起来再接住，教的人吃到好吃的还会跳很萌的喜悦之海带舞。滑板的部分也蛮爽的，挑战都很有意思也很有挑战性。流程总共有10天，主线通关之后很贴心地有新的天数给玩家做支线和成就，在杂货店还可以换人和换猫猫狗狗的模型滑滑板所以也不太会腻，玩得很开心！

Play it for the story. This game goes deep into the psyche of a sassy and messy woman and her relationships to her family, exes, and community. The writing is extraordinary; it covers many serious topics while being incredibly fun and humorous throughout. The music, animations, and art are amazing, and they add lots of additional depth to the narrative.

The mechanics of the gameplay are a little wonky. I had reduce graphics to its minimal state and close all other open windows in order for the game to properly react to my input for the quick-time events. The skating is hard to control because there is no way to slow down the turning, and I opted to skip all the skate challenges. The fights are more for activating different types of dialogue and less an opportunity to strategize.

I really like this game. Although this game was very repetitive as I kept going (would love better rewards for battling random suitors on the streets), the story had its hooks on me. It's funny, it made me weep and it's a joyous ride with the most bisexual disasters of protagonists (and the game acknowledges this directly). The themes of fixing trauma, specifically intergenerational trauma is important and although I wish there was more of fleshing out the themes out in the game, i am happy with the game's length.

Thirsty Suitors es ese raro cóctel que alguien agitó demasiado: Acción + Aventura + Rol, con combate por turnos, romance incómodo estilo “simulador de citas”, skateboarding para huir de tus problemas (spoiler: no funciona) y hasta cocina, porque claro, nada sana el trauma como picar cebolla con estilo.

Controlas a una protagonista femenina en una historia con decisiones que importan (sí, importan… pero no esperes que te resuelvan la vida), donde el drama personal y el humor se abrazan como exes que “solo quieren hablar”. La primera impresión: es original, estilizado y con personalidad; la segunda: también quiere hacer demasiadas cosas al mismo tiempo y tú eres el que termina sudando.

Si te gusta el Rol con narrativa fuerte y un tono LGBTQ+ sin pedir permiso, aquí hay carne. Si vienes buscando Acción pura o un sistema por turnos que te cambie la religión, quizá te quedes con cara de “¿esto era una pelea o una terapia grupal con patines?”.

Thirsty Suitors es el tipo de juego que se atreve a ser raro y, peor aún, a ser sincero. Su fuerte está en la narrativa, el tono y la identidad: Acción/Aventura/Rol con combate por turnos y una protagonista que no viene a caerte bien, viene a decirte verdades. Y funciona… la mayoría del tiempo.

Pero también es un buffet: un poco de skateboarding, un poco de citas, un poco de cocina, un poco de plataformas 3D. Cuando todo encaja, es una joyita indie con personalidad. Cuando no, se siente como si el juego te dijera “confía” mientras cambia de género sin avisar.

I enjoyed every moment of playing this game and some of the fights were challenging. The summons were also very fun especially when you can summon your exs or mom to fight your battle or your aunt for support.

Thirsty Suitors is punchy in art and story. I really loved this game as a hybrid virtual novel/cooking sim/Tony hawk pro skate(board) sim/therapy/dating (breakup) sim, and action rpg. I think this game has a lot of elements and doesn't fit into any one genre, but I think all elements are done well. Sure, some may find rhythm battle repetitive, but I thought it was really fun. Not too difficult and felt engaging. The art is gorgeous, especially in combat or cooking. Skating is easy to learn but hard (for me) to master. The story was beautiful. It had humor and a lot of soul put in, which I very much appreciate. The cooking was fun and I love that it was real dishes! Love the family dynamics and the breaking curses that run in your blood. Very cathartic and good for the soul. Also, do you know how good for the soul it is to watch your mom beat the ♥♥♥♥ out of your enemies with her shoe? Or your dad pick you up after you lose a fight and put you back in the ring? Very. I do wish the ending had more meat to it, like other reviewers. The story was resolved, but I would have liked to see more. I'm probably just greedy though. It's a short game but will live in your head for a while as it will mine. I didn't expect to love it, but think this will be a comfort game to come back to. Would 100% recommend!

Absolutely loved every aspect. Only two complains is the town is dead after the ending and I am left wondering what Jala does after the events of the game. Also there is no Diya smooching scene which I desperately need. Super wish that we get to see more from these developers!

Loved this, blew through it in a few days. Loved the characters, great VA and the pacing of the story was really good. The battling is a little clunky but it almost feels intentional and absolutely adds to the charm. Played on steam deck with minimal issues. Only negative I would say is the ending felt a little rushed. I would have liked longer to get to know Andile before the climax.

One of my new favourite indie RPG's, Thirsty Suitors casts you in the role of a young woman losing herself, and ultimately finding herself again. Marrying the sensibilities of Scott Pilgrim and Persona, Thirsty Suitors is the best way to reflect on your own bad choices, while making a few extra ones for good measure.

The game's RPG mechanics are definitely simplistic, and this can lead to repetitive battles that aren't terribly challenging, even on higher difficulties. Regardless, the top-notch writing and presentation will keep you fully engaged with the quest of Jala Jayaratne to (maybe) become a better person. Cooking with your parents, dancing with your friends, petting the local dinner dog (if you're so inclined), dismantling a bear-themed skate cult, it's all in a day's work within the small town of Timber Hills.

Among these activities, the skating is a little rough, just to warn. Touchy controls and extra dodgy collision can make winning the approval of the local skaters feel as much like blind luck as it is acceptable skill. Every other element of mischief within Thirsty Suitors will keep you amused however. Maybe you won't fall in love, but you'll definitely not regret the romance.

Not gonna lie, I definitely went in expecting one thing and got something entirely different. Yes, it delivers on being the Scott Pilgrim for brown people, if Ramona Flowers actually took responsibility for her past decisions--but you also conquer generational trauma. Some of the conversations here were amazing, hurt and touched me deep down, and I had to sit and think about them a bit. While I wish I could soothe my family's decades upon decades of trauma in a week, I still appreciate that this game attempts to piece together "figuring it all out" as a 20 something. It's never too late to own up to your mistakes. As this game tries to eloquently say: It's not about receiving forgiveness so much as acknowledging that even if you were a teen idiot, you still made the decision to act. People aren't pawns.

Now...for the actual game mechanics. I tried to get into the skateboarding, but I can't decide if it was just the controls that made it annoying or if it was me also being out of practice from my tony hawk days. If you're here for the skateboarding, you may be disappointed, but there is some real effort here. The non-skateboard gameplay is all quick-time events, but not in a terrible way. I am all about rhythm games, so I was primed for this. The food mini-games are nice and challenging as are trying to get the hits right in battle on the stronger attacks.

The true disappointment for me is that there was a massive performance downgrade when you try to dab the dog in game. Perhaps too many elements in the background or what--but it made it near impossible to do a full round of the long handshake with the pupper. At least you can say you can pet the dog xD

Really lovely well written game with style oozing out of every pore. Some of the resolutions felt a little rushed but the overall emotional experience really works, and the highlight is definitely the scott pilgrim style wacky ex battles that eke out the messy details piece by piece as the story keeps getting worse for Jala. It also plays with its own format well - the finale section is really amazing. The cooking is easily the best bit as you get a very realistic back and forth of tension and forgiveness between Jala and her parents in their own way, and the skating and battles are fairly serviceable and fun - it all balances together pretty well without feeling crowded. If you think you like the sound and look of the game, you'll love it.

The characters are fun, some of the exes are a little too familiar lmao. It's a well-written, refreshingly empathetic story about generational trauma, growth from immaturity, and people being free to be themselves. The gameplay is a fun, interesting mashup of QTE and RPG mechanics. The fights can get a little repetitive after a while, but interestingly enough, my main complaint is that this game isn't long enough. I was just settling in and getting comfortable when it was suddenly over! I will grant that I did not 100% it, but it felt like I only got the 1st stage, and I wish there was a second/third/epilogue.

I'll also say that I really wasn't a fan of the skateboarding. It was a fun way to get around, but sometimes I wanted to go somewhere and the board moved a little awkwardly. Maybe just a skill issue. Idk.

Anyway, I really do recommend it, especially if you're buying as part of a bundle or if it's on sale, and especially if you want to see a story with queerness/immigrant backgrounds being centered. The gameplay is fun, the voice acting is great, the story is stellar, it's just a good time.

You play as Jala, a 20ish wayward daughter returning to her hometown after a messy breakup, only to be confronted with her six previous messy breakups she had left there. You must also contend with your Sri Lankan immigrant parents and your perfect sister who haunts you as your inner monologue. There is also a weird thing going on at a park, but it's just an excuse to do skateboarding games.

This is a fully voiced VN with some terrific dialogue and deep character moments. Jala can approach her frenemies with one of three attitudes that will shape their relationships, but each suitor involves a wildly animated JRPG battle where you must tear down their emotional defenses before regaining their trust.

Mechanically, you afflict status debuffs before you combo attack with a skill of the same color. It's bare bones and repetitive, but the battle animations and dialogue are fun and the timed button prompts keep things from getting stale. You battle with only a single character although allies can be summoned for various effects.

Each in-game morning you can cook healing items with your parents. These sections are my favorite part. You get revelatory dialogue with your parents in between more quick time events that can impress them and buff your food stats. The cuisine sounds delicious and I wish they had included an actual recipe book.

I loved the soundtrack too, just thought I should mention.

My biggest issue with the game is the lack of face animations which can break immersion during heated and heartfelt moments. It might have been too difficult and I see ways the devs worked around it.

This is a game for people who love stories about queer relationships, family drama, immigrant parent expectations, and cooking. There are some cute references to the PNW setting, and the way Jala gets everywhere on skateboard is fun as well. This is a very chill game that took me about 17 hours to get through with the side quests.

Очень прикольная игра. Механики QTE приятные, со звуком с ритмом, не напряжные, но бывают серьёзным испытанием.
[b]Вся игра как болливудский фильм.[/b] Персонажи всё делают с пафосом с акробатикой, выглядит всё это с учётом стильного рисунка и ярких выразительных анимаций очень круто и весело.
Так же стоит отметить звуковое сопровождение. Игра "живая" любые действия сопровождаются звуками как и в QTE всё гармонично встроено. Музыка приятная (есть прям очень крутые треки).

[h3]Персонажи [/h3] Хоть и не все, но вполне достойные: Клёвый отец семейства, строгая мать, крутая тётушка, угарный Серджио, жахнутый Сонди, саркастичный голос в голове, и сама глав-героиня Джала (мы сами выбираем диалоги) вполне харизматичные персонажи.

[h3]Пресловутая повестка [/h3]В начале игры нам в нос не тычет (есть моменты, но не критично), ближе к середине станет резко больше, но если вы не отбитый гомофоб, то можно и не обращать внимание. + к тому же, где вы видели игру в которой можно без стеснения дубасить всяких квиров и нетакусиков.

[h3]Сюжет[/h3] Можно условно разделить на 3 ветки:

[b]1-я семейная[/b] Дочь - тупая, не оправдала ожиданий. мается хернёй, старших не уважает. Типичный семейный конфликт, прописан вполне стандарно.

[b]2-я скейтпарк[/b] Скейтеры захватили парк, у них там какая-то секта из несовершеннолетних, во граве какой-то чудик. Возможно там идёт какое-то раскрытие если выполнять скейт побочки (что вряд ли), но если идти по основному сюжету, то эта ветка не раскрывается и в общем ни к чему не ведёт, а жаль, потенциал был.

[b]3-я бывшие[/b] Пупупупу...., получается самая не однозначная, всё зависит от того как вы сами будете относиться к персонажам. Например, так как мне вся эта лгбткиарио+ братия не близка, соответственно и в диалогах с ними выбирались самые агрессивные варианты ответов, да и в принципе на их переживания мне было плевать. Даже если оценить их конфликты без "повестки", ну всё равно чушь какая-то, просто школьники развлекались - выросли - поняли что были малолетними дебилами и успокоились, у большинства персонажей драма надуманная.
В принципе половина бывших вообще нафиг не нужна. Оставили бы только Серджио, Дию, и Тайлер, у остальных и сюжетного времени меньше и конфликт из пальца высосан.
И что сильно не понравилось в конце [spoiler] нам суют негритянку с обложки, типа НА, теперь ГГ будет с ней. А мне она нахер не всралась, а хочу выбрать Серджио он тупой но прикольный, а сценарист говорит НЕТь, я её придумал и на обложку поставил, жри чё дают [/spoiler], прям аж печёт от такой наглости разраба-сценариста.

[b]Как итог[/b] + Игра яркая сочная, динамичная. -Сюжет слабый и даже не из-за повестки.
+ Дубасить всех этих лохов было приятно.

And frankly, i wasn't, and yet this was one of the most enjoyable and fun game i played this year.

Please give it a try, it has a wonderful deep look on life and relationships.

Ce jeu est tellement bizarre dans le sens où on voit clairement ses défauts mais malgré ça on se laisse emporter par son ambiance et son énergie folle.
Il a une vraie identité propre, on en croise pas des comme ça tous les jours.
(gros big up à la bande son qui contribue grandement à l'univers, je l'écoute encore des mois après avoir fini le jeu)

Après si vous ne jouez QUE pour le gameplay et la performance, pas certain.e que vous y trouverez un intérêt.

Bref c'était un plaisir à jouer et je ne peux que le recommander (j'ai la banane rien de d'y repenser haha)!

PS: La toute toute première partie du jeu m'a fait sérieusement douter, si c'est aussi le cas pour vous ne vous inquiétez pas il faut passer le début, ça va beaucoup mieux après.

I played the whole game, but found it incredibly repetitive and with that it became stale. Somewhat boring to me because there was only so much you could do differently. Overall I would rate it a 4/10. If you want something to play then yes, it'll pass time, but you might find yourself getting bored after around the 3rd chapter.

Вбухали деньги в игру, которую купили 177 сторонников движения и я, потому что в описании игры не говорится, что игра посвящена движению ЛГБТ, а трейлер крутой.

Annapurna был шикарным издателем, релиз Стрей в 22, Аутер Вайлд в 20, ЭДИТ ФИНЧ и ГОРОГОА в 17,
Эти игры настолько уникальны, что сама аудитория бесплатно их пиарила до вселенских масштабов, все их игры, вышедшие до 22 года имеют тысячи отзывов.

С 22 года их переклинило и они сели не на стул с пиками, а на второй стул и понеслось "Мемоир Блю" с 300 отзывами, "хоконум" 80 отзывов, "Опен роад" 200 отзывов, "Хиндсг" 112 отзывов

Кого винить?
Аудиторию, что не покупают феминистское говно или издателей которые это заказывают?
С 22 года они не выпустили ни одной хайповой игры, ни одной игры без пропаганды.

Это очень странно, студия с огромным опытом резко поменяла рельсы, видели, что игры не окупаются, но продолжали ехать по этим рельсам, видели яму в далеке, но не жали тормоз, а ехали дальше чтобы в итоге рельсы привели в эту яму.

Мини-сюжетная линия о двух геях, где один изменяет другому, ЭТО НА КОГО РАССЧЁТ, КОМУ ИНТЕРЕСНО ЭТО БУДЕТ?
Бесчисленное множество диалогов с другими девочками о любви и как они сосались.
Почти половина женщин в игре это жирухи и то что они жрут всё подряд и не следят за собой, не занимаются спортом это выставляют нормой под предлогом "ДУМАЙ ТОЛЬКО О СЕБЕ ЗАБЕЙ НА МНЕНИЕ ОКРУЖАЮЩИХ", АЛЁ ДЕБИЛОИДЫ, ТАК У НЕЁ ИЗ-ЗА ЖИРА КУЧА ПРОБЛЕМ СО ЗДОРОВЬЕМ, ПРИЧЁМ ТУТ ОКРУЖАЮЩИЕ, ВЫ ЧЁ ВБИТЬ ПЫТАЕТЕСЬ В НЕОКРЕПШИЕ УМЫ, ВАС ЗАПРЕТИТЬ НАДО ЗА ЭТО.

Абсолютно каждого мужика при этом выставили похотливыми клоунами.
Отец, ухажёры, глава секты, бывший бойфренд - все циркачи.

Что касается женщин?
Разумеется АБСОЛЮТНО КАЖДЫЙ персонаж женского пола здесь сильный, независимый и доминирующий, КСТАТИ БОЛЬШИНСТВО ЖЕНЩИН В ИГРЕ ЧЕРНОКОЖИЕ И НАКАЧЕННЫЕ.
И это отражается не только в диалогах, есть сцены, как 60 летняя бабка тягает штангу в прыжке.
Вторая работает инженером и собирает Боинги.
Что делает мужик? УХАЖИВАЕТ ЗА ПТИЧКАМИ В САДУ и пресмыкается перед своей женой, боясь слово вставить.

Диалоги о каком-то выдуманном мире, где "ж+ж это нормально", и плевать, что ж+ж и м+м запрещено в большинстве адекватных стран, потому что во-первых учёными доказано что это отклонение в психике человека, во-вторых это минус к рождаемости и плюс к вымиранию человечества.

Если этого вам мало, то добавили чернокожего трансформера, к которому все обращаются "ОНИ" и он говорит о себе во множественном числе.

Описание "радужных кроссовок" - "одень их и носи с ГОРДОСТЬЮ"

И любимые темы свит буби "семейные ценности", что в год оф варе это, что в спайдер мене "ребёнок не должен враждовать с родителями, а должен жить в мире".
Ага да, скажите это семьям, где идёт насилие от родителей по отношению к детям, очередное подтверждение что толи все сотрудники sbi начинают утро со шприца в вену, толи под куполом живут, толи их кто-то под гипнов взял и вдолбил им что "Мир радужный весёлый и добрый, у толстых людей нету никаких проблем со здоровьем".

свит беби приезжают в Сибирь.
Вывешивают как в Европе С ГОРДОСТЬЮ ЛГБТ флаг над своим офисом.
Всё.
Их больше никто не увидит никогда.

3 типа
1 - основной, QTE.
Душнина уже после 1 боя, тебе на КАЖДОЕ применение скила нужно жать 3 разных кнопки, а за 1 бой ты применяешь скилл 10-11 раз.
Противник тебя атакует - QTE
"Помыть руки" - QTE из 5 кнопок.
Приготовить еду - QTE из 30 КНОПОК
Погладить собаку - QTE из 10 кнопок.

2 - Скейтборды.
Катаешься, зарабатываешь очки.
Своего рода платформинг, сделанный очень криво.
Отсутствие магнитизма, резкие телепорты, непонятная пластмассовая физика.
Было бы это побочными миссиями окей, но заставлять в сюжете зарабатывать очки, ме, уныло.

3 - Исследование.
Было бы НОРМ, Если был бы смысл и была ходьба, а не катание на скейтборде по улице.
Локации пустые, просто находишь монетки и побочные однообразные бои для прокачки, и делаешь это всё на скейтборде, из-за чего нету нормального управления персонажем.
Ты привык, что отжимаешь W и персонаж останавливается, а тут надо жать S.

❌[i] [b] -КВЕСТЫ.[/b][/i]
В игре 3 локации и всю игру вас будут гонять по ним с одними и теми же заданиями.

Поговори с одним, потом подерись с ним, потом поговори с другим и подерись с ним.
Утром приготовь еду (с тонной диалогов между QTE сценами), вечером побазарь с батей.

Повторение одних и тех же действий утомляет, а если посмотреть на цену в косарь, за который есть как бы другие игры...

❌[i] [b] -БОИ.[/b][/i]
Пошаговые.

Они очень утомительные не только из-за QTE, но и из-за однообразия, и после каждого хода воспроизводится повторяющийся диалог с одними и теми же фразами.

Так противники ещё и хилятся, бои с боссами это испытание на терпимость, очень медленные.

У боссов есть лимит по урону, то есть если твоя ульта наносит 100 урона, ты юзаешь её, но нанесёт она ему столько урона, сколько нужно для воспроизведения следующего диалога, это может быть и 5 урона.

Чтобы ВДРУГ ты не шотнул босса за 3 удара, проскипав "уникальные" диалоги какая хорошая жизнь в радужном мире.

❌[i] [b] -СЮЖЕТ.[/b][/i]
Шаблонный, главная героиня бунтующий подросток ПРЕТКИ АЦТОЙ ДОРОГУ ПАНКАМ.
Возвращается в свой родной город к родителям, потому что от неё все отказались.
В городе обнаруживает БЫВШИХ, с которыми рассталась и пока пытаясь наладить контакт с прошлым выясняется, что есть медведь, вербующий детей в свою секту скейтбордеров.

ТЕЗИСНО - весь сюжет, до самых титров о примирении главной героини с окружающими существами (ну яж не могу назвать кого-то с местоимением "ИХ" человеком, я в жизни не встречал чтобы в паспорте было написано "Они" - гражданин), с которыми она была в ссоре, а в ссоре она с каждым.

❌[i] [b] -ДИАЛОГИ.[/b][/i]
Сначала горит жопа от того, насколько они пустые. (ты можешь пропускать диалог на протяжении всей главы и ты вообще ничего не потеряешь)
Потом горит жопа от их количества.
ВЕДЬ РАЗРАБОТЧИКИ ВСТАВИЛИ ДИАЛОГИ ВО ВРЕМЯ БОЯ И QTE ГОТОВКИ.

Ударил - прокликай диалог.
Защитился - прокликай диалог.

Третий этап поджога пятой точки это регулярная пропаганда и упоминание "забей, что думают окружающие, если ты девочка любишь девочку ну и встречайся с ней".
Ага да, только потом эти ЛГБТ персоны умирают в одиночестве и каждый год депрессию ловят и с крыш идут прыгать, потому что "их никто не понимает соу сэд".

negative parts first: you skateboard to get around. which is kinda neat to play around with, but as far as actually getting places, it's pretty clunky. combat can be a little confusing because there are symbols displaying statuses, but it's not entirely clear what they mean. also, my gf is colorblind, and there was a mechanic that she couldn't use at all because of it.

the good: this game is beautiful and emotional and goofy and fun. i loved the characters in this game. even when they're in conflict, no one is really good or evil. you can see where everyone is coming from. each character was written with a ton of love.

i am an immigrant but not a south asian immigrant. there was so much to relate to in this game--partially because i'm an immigrant but partially because a person. like everyone else, i have mixed feelings about my exes and complicated relationships with my family, and some days i want to fight everything and everyone, and some days i want to lie down and die.

this game hits all the right notes. i feel seen as myself but also empowered to be better.

Queer-centric, Bollywood, Scott Pilgrim. This game is really really good. I do have some gripes when it comes to the narrative and how it leaves certain story lines somewhat hanging however, the game is fun, its funny, the art style is phenomenal; I was so sad when the credits rolled cause I just wanted more interactions with these characters.
Some will gripe about the price tag. I think that's dumb. This game isn't anywhere nearly as long as most AAA games and I think most gamers can come to the consensus that most of those games aren't worthy of their 60-70 dollar price tags despite attributes like length or graphical fidelity. This game asking 30, and very very frequently going on sale for 20, is far from ridiculous.

Absolutely beautiful and a very fun game with very interesting and good message about actions effecting others around you. Love the humor and the jabs towards different topics. The characters felt nice, funny and even relatable.
Mini games were so much fun and the battles were times when I had to resource manage correctly to get victory. Skateboarding controls unfortunately felt kinda weird to me time, but I could let that slide and focus on things I enjoyed more.
Highly recommend this game if you just want to have fun and enjoy a story with sprinkles of humor. It would easily take a lot longer to fully 100% this game, but with 16 hours I was able to do already a lot of the content. 9/10 from me easily.

Очень прикольная игра! Анимации, шутки, экшели прикольные QTE, которые являются полноценной игровой механикой. Убеги-со-мной бывший и бывший-небинарка-с-африканскими-корнями прошли как-то мимо, но все остальные большие бои были супер.
Это нельзя назвать минусом, но мне очень не хватило возможности поменять ей топ и юбку, а не только кроссовки и куртку, потому что они мне не очень нравились и мешали собрать хороший лук хаха.

6+ hrs into the game and I just can't get enough of it.

All core mechanics I met so far: battle, cooking, skating - are well done, fun to master. I enjoyed the battle one most in the beginning, but now cooking got into me too. I'm even genuinely enjoying skating that's usually not among my favorite gameplays.

Dialogues are well written, witty and deep, topics meaningful, some lines you actually want to save for quoting to your friends later. I appreciate the good balance between drama and humor.

Moreover, soundtrack and English voice actors are too very very good. I'd say they play a big part in helping you dive into this fiction. And they making it real for you.

So I'd definitely recommend the game and I wish more people knew about this gem. This game is unique and one of a kind.

A fun Sri Lankan take on Scott Pilgrim Vs The World! The story and dialogue is fun, and can get emotionally intense in some scenes.
The game is brought down a bit by the gameplay. Fights could have been shortened and the skating gameplay could be tighter. Easy/medium difficulty is the way to go, otherwise it's unnecessarily tedious.
The art style is great, reminiscent of the Spider-verse movies.

Short and sweet! The theme is wonderful and comparable to Persona, but with its own flavour. The animations of everyone making ridiculous acrobatics while doing mundane tasks keeps everything funny and interesting. This game has vision and heart, it must be encouraged and experienced.

The combat was lame, it's the most basic JRPG stuff you can imagine, but with a whole lot of quicktime events. So I recommend leaving the difficulty at the easiest setting to get it over with. There is cooking (only quicktime events) and skating in this game to give you more to chew on if you feel like it

It's quite an interesting combination of an RPG, skateboarding game, and even has cooking thrown in for extra fun. All the over animated actions of the characters adds to the fun, it's truly a treat to look at. Don't think I can recommend it enough.

Scott Pilgrim vs The World meets Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.

Thirsty Suitors is an amazing Frankenstein of gameplay: cooking, skating, secret handshakes with dogs, and psychodrama battles with your exes. Classics, amiright?

Jala, our protagonist, is a horrible person (or was just your standard teenager). I loved playing her, going through every ex's boss battle and learning the dumpster fires that Jala made with so many people. This game plays all of that angst so well, and makes me crave a second game from this studio. The writing is excellent, the music is amazing, and the game is so so pretty.

I highly recommend this game, and encourage you to get it, sale or not. It's worth the money.

I love the writing and adore the characters - the story is good, not great, but it gives good opportunity to explore the characters and their relationships.

The game play however is kinda bad. Not bad as in terrible, just mediocre and boring. The fact I'm still giving this a positive review I think is a good indication of how much I love these characters and how they are presented.

Man, what a perfect game. And yes, I support LBGTQ+. But I am a cis-white male, and this game was immensely relatable. I feel this should be the gold standard for writing queer/diverse cast. This felt like TRUE representation, I simultaniously was exposed to a beautiful American-Indian cultured household, AND was able to relate to the characters in almost EVERY way. I, too, was a twenty something drop out, I, too, failed all my early relationships in emotionally scarring ways, and had to face several of them when I got therapy! These felt like REAL people with REAL problems. It was beautiful. I got emotional and cried at the end. The reason this should be the standard for representation is that is shows we aren't that different from one another, white, black, trans, gay, indian, martian, whatever. We all live, and fail, and love. Thanks devs. Best gaming experience I have had in some time. Thanks Annapurna for funding another classic.

This game deserves a lot more recognition than it is getting. It is exactly what so many people who i have talked to about the Persona series want, more mature themes and relationships, a setting out of high school, more deep and dynamic relationships, more nuances in the main character rather than just a perfect protag that everybody loves. I mean, everyone loves Jala, but she is a hot mess, but thats what makes it interesting. I have been in love with so many toxic people in my life and have also been toxic as ♥♥♥♥ for years of my early twenties, just like Jala and hurt people i cared about.

I know a lot of people say this game is like Persona meets Tony Hawk, but it also reminds me a lot of Night in the Woods. A coming home story about finding and facing yourself. It has a great female protaganist, and both are kinda lovable idiots. You have a great family cast, and great cast of exes, excellent voice acting.

AND SO MUCH love went into this game. I know a lot of people say that about every indie game, but so few indie games have the thoughtfulness that this games writing has. The little discussions your family has as you do the cooking mini game, to the all the dialogue Jala can have for each enemy; FOR EACH MOVE for each enemy. Usually when I play an JRPG, within the first ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hour, I have already heard the NPC's repeat their ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ taglines over and over again, but Jala has so many quips and lines and quotes and puns for each taunt that i think i have only ever heard like one repeated once. Theres even a different line of Dialog from your dad every time you lose a fight depending on who you lost the fight too. it just feels so well crafted, so thoughtful, that it really stands above indie and into the realm of AA games.

I have played A LOT of indie games, its been my sole focus choice of games for about 8 years. And there are tons I love, but there also tons that have weak writing. One I played 8 years ago that I thought had really good writing at the time but upon returning too (VA-11 Hall-A: Cyberpunk Bartending) actually is soooo flat in its writing and nuances, it really reflected just how flavorful and different each character is from one another in this game.

It has great pacing, each event flowing well into the next with no grinding, great music, great combat akin to Paper Mario where each move requires an interactive quick time event, incredibly stylish moves and the way you get around the game is by skateboarding Tony Hawk style.

Just to give a small taste of the level of love the devs poured into this game. There's a part in the game where you can unlock the dog in the freeskate area, and the devs designed EVERY SINGE move to look completely different and just as equally stylish and bombastic when you are using the dog. This is such a small touch a lot of people might just completely miss but they did it cuz ♥♥♥♥ it why not.

best indie game I've played since Potionomics, might even top it to be honest.

Might be good for some type of players, but for me, I tried to stick with it, and couldn’t do it anymore. I wasn’t super invested in the character’s story arch. Credit where credit is due, it does have a good variety of mini games. I also applaud for them trying to create something different. I’ve clicked ‘not recommended’ from a personal perspective as I don’t think it’s good value for money - trying too many things at once, and didn’t hit the mark for me. But, lots of positive reviews saying otherwise. Maybe a quick YouTube first before purchasing so you can figure out what side of the fence you’ll sit on.

I got this game on a lark. Dating sims aren't really my thing but I had heard good things. And wow, I'm absolutely blown away by how much I like this game. The characters are all so fun and interesting. Each of them is very layered, even Sergio who I thought was a jerk in the beginning.

And I'm stuck doing all the cooking side quests because I want to spend all this time learning about her parents. Her dad is my favorite but her mom is awesome as well. Can't wait to meet Paati.

The art style and soundtrack is great! I really love the characters and thought the story was well thought out. The skateboarding segments, while optional, are extremely fun. Just be aware the turn based combat can get a little repetitive but overall I enjoyed my playthrough.

TL;DR Really good ideas, great soundtrack, Storytelling is lacking and the ending leaves more questions than answers. If you like the anime Food wars or really wanna learn about young adult cultural struggles and figuring our your sexual identity, give it a go.

Usually I don't really leave reviews for games but for this one, I will. I beat the game in just shy of 10 hours playtime and in it's current state I feel it hard to recommend it.
Let's talk positives first
- Artstyle: Probably one of the first things you see about this game, and for good reason: the art is vibrant, the colour pallete and animations are flashy. I enjoyed this aspect of the game a lot.
- Setting and Family drama: The setting is super interesting and I especially enjoyed the tension and relationship with Jala and her Family.
- Mini games: There are multiple mini games in this game, this includes Cooking, dancing and some other mini games. They are mostly fun and the dialogue between the characters in the mini games is witty.
-Soundtrack and SFX. Man what a bop, I was jamming to the music while skating for a good while.
- The Turn-based combat. The main reason i picked this game up was the combat, as it seemed a pretty refreshing take on the turn based RPG genre, which it was.

Now for the negatives:
- The turn-based combat. Yes, I just praised it in the positives, but the combat got really stale, really fast. It's the same quick time events for every move. They repeat a lot. There is never a real threat in combat and some of the combat is just a "I hope you have enough healing items to survive" test.
- Storytelling, specifically the characters. The game throws you into the story as if you have missed something in the beginning, only to then not explain what Jala has actually done wrong. The connection here is missing. Then the problem arises that, despite us as the player not knowing what Jala has actually done wrong, everyone (except Auntie C) absolutely despises us. None of the actual suitors/ exes are actually likeable characters. You try to "fix" your relationship throughout the game with them, but honestly most of them are just rude and I didn't want to make up with them.
- Skateboarding. This is not Tony Hawk and I am thankful that the skateboarding challenges are optional. The skateboarding is clunky at best and unplayable at worst. Jala snaps to locations even though you want to talk to the NPC in front of you, but oh well I guess you are rail grinding now.
- Bugs. Even though there weren't many, especially towards the end I had textures not load in properly, resulting in character models having no eyes or being just straight up textureless.
- The ending [spoiler] is just unsatisfactory. You only meet Paati in the last 30 minutes or so of the game, but as soon as you meet Aruni, the story just takes a nosedive from there. There is no way to actually romance/ make up with any of your exes of the Suitors, leaving you with mode open ends than you left off. But you made up with your family, I guess. [/spoiler]

I really loved this game! I did find some of the skateboarding challenges to be a bit frustrating, and some of them to be just downright impossible for me to do mechanically. But yeah, I really liked the story and I loved how the game shares with us a culture that is seldom represented in video games, let alone western media.

Everything [i]Thirsty Suitors[/i] tries—whether it be the humor, creating engaging storylines, or switching genres between turn-based RPG, cooking, and skating—it succeeds in greatly. Lovable characters, a charming story, and the relatable generational trauma of second-generation immigrants come together to make a game that just works, and works exceptionally well. As a Sri Lankan, never did I think I'd see the day where I'd be playing as a Sri Lankan protagonist, cooking Sri Lankan dishes, and fighting off the expectations of South Asian parents. [i]Thirsty Suitors[/i] is one of my top games of 2023, and I'd highly recommend it!

Honestly, this is the most fun I've had with a video game in a year with the exception of games I've played with friends. It's challenging sometimes, funny all the time, and honestly has a lot of good advice. I've never been mentored by a video game harder than this other than Mario teaching me that mushrooms are to be jumped on and not eaten. Only thing I can say to the devs: "I don't need to be targeted like this! I mean I like it, but lordy do I feel like you read some parts of my journal mates."

Stylish, fantastically horny, great characters, and a really neat mix of genres: free-form skating, cooking minigames, turn-based battles with your exes that are dramatic and surreal storytelling moments too. The game is full of wit, charm, stinging social commentary, and is dripping in South Asian style, culture, and music, filtered through nineties Americana - just really fresh and original.

It's chill to play, and the minigame reaction timing feels generous - there's a challenge, but it's never insurmountable (and difficulty can be customised too). I’m interested to see where the story goes and play it to the end.

Also I felt so seen by Irfan (and his cat! - the game is hilarious in general, but that boss fight had me laughing out loud) - I think I've been on a similar journey to him. Am still on that journey perhaps...

Recommend playing with a controller!

Just finished the game, tons of laugh-out-loud moments and hilarious boss fights. Character designs were clearly lovingly imagined. I will say that the ending could have been a little more fleshed out, and the skate controls need more work. Still, I had a blast playing.

This game is an interesting blend between a cooking qte mini game, rpg with turn based qte battles and skating tricks. I personally didn't care much for the skating portion as it felt kinda slow to me. The battles are hilarious and every one of the suitors makes me cringe with how flawed they are personality wise. Makes me wanna root for the protagonist more. The cooking was enjoyable simply for the dialogue you get with your mom at first but then after that it's okay. You mostly use the cooking to give yourself consumables. I will say that this game is carried heavily by the dialogue and characters I feel. It's a good game but slightly flawed imo. Be warned the game did lock up on me completely once during a boss battle and for some reason the second time cooking Kiribath the spoken dialogue is absent for some odd reason. Other than that I really enjoy this unique game.

One of your main antagonists is a man wearing a bear costume who lives in the sewer and leads a cult who have taken over a cryptid-themed skate park. He gives you skating challenges and makes you have cathartic fist fights with children.

Have you ever tried to share the kitchen with your mom to cook something AND have an emotionally charged conversation at the same time? Thirsty Suitors got it!

This game was unlike anything I've ever played before. A truly wild, unique gameplay experience, with very varied mechanics. It doesn't take itself too seriously, as it is extremely deliberately over-the-top especially in battle sequences, but the writing is real and honest. The aspect of the story I loved the most was the family drama.

I had so much fun with this game, but it was so special in what it does that truly I'm not certain who to recommend it to. Unless... maybe everyone should play this?

It's hard to believe that a light RPG/dating sim/skateboarding/cooking game could have some of the best-written characters and most emotionally honest dialogue in the current gaming landscape, but Thirsty Suitors pulls it off. It offers the chance to explore a Scott Pilgrim-esque Evil Exes story with much more nuance and depth, and in the end love doesn't necessarily conquer all (and that's a good thing!)
The gameplay often serves as a vehicle for the storytelling in a way that may dissatisfy game purists, but anyone who actually enjoys experiencing a narrative will be in for a treat. I particularly liked the way the boss battles served as metaphors for the exchanges actually occurring between the characters in the real world.
There's so much going on in Thirsty Suitors that it can be forgiven for not having the most robust or deep gameplay in any of its given styles. Try cooking in a Paper Mario game, or healing broken relationships in a Tony Hawk game!
I will say that the setting is a little odd, in that it ostensibly takes place in the late 1990s but feels more like an alternate 2020s where mp3 players, smartphones, and social media were never invented. Teens still spend all their time on their phones, but they're playing Snake and texting with T9Word. It's actually quite charming!

Divertido, variado, para pasar un rato agradable con momentos de risas garantizados. El tono semiantagónico de la protagonista es un punto a favor. Podría caerte mal, pero cuando conoces a sus ex te caen peor, así que en cierta manera puedes empatizar.

Lo único que me ha parecido realmente molesto ha sido que en la cocina india echan cilantro casi a todo.

Honestly, I would have played just because the art style and humor are so good.
But on top of that the story and characters are amazing.
I laughed (a lot), I cried (a lot), I pet the dog (a lot).
I loved playing a strong but messy queer female MC. I was definitely originally interested in the fact that it was a kind of dating simulator but once you go through the game I love that [spoiler]these people should [b]NOT[/b] date and we don't![/spoiler]
