This was very good. I liked the lighting of the game, the vibe of the game, very scary. I like the way its always so dark without the flashlight yet you cant use with the gun. Very simple game just ammo, health, 1 gun, flashlight. I played about an hour of the game and beat it though theres other game modes to try and i also thought the notes were cool to read. Probably might worth the 4 dollars but I got it on sale. Theres also a goodies folder too look at

reasons to play this game

- fun and doesn't overstay its welcome
- silly but also scary and does both pretty well if u get in the right mood
- genuinely some of the funniest "horror game" notes you'll ever read, with such gems like "electrical skin peeling whimsy"
- surprisingly good spooky goofy music???
- actual worldbuilding that he'd later explore in his other games like Butcher's Creek and Squirrel Stapler??? (i forget if it's confirmed or not if these also take place in the same world of Iron Lung but it would not surprise me)
- good atmosphere/mechanics

it's basically what you'd want in a short horror game for under five bucks. it does feel weird seeing it stand on its own and not as a part of the original collection it was made for (mostly due to the tone/length), but given how David has been trying to build out this world, it does make sense that he'd want it out on his own terms, plus it's good for preservation. i'm glad to support him and his brother if it means they'll put their creativity and money to good use. :)

hmm, its okay, pretty neutral about it.
i bought it in a bundle and thought it was shovelware before i knew david szymanski was the dev behind it. after playing it i have a more positive opinion about it than before, but still ok.
in short it can be engaging, but not memorable at all.
also the boss fight in the end is kinda stupid.

The Pony Factory is a short horror FPS built around one very weird idea: using hell-powered machinery to turn people into murderous skeletal ponies. It’s absurd, a little cheesy, and fully aware of it.

The game only lasts about 30 minutes, which honestly works in its favor. It gets in, does its thing, and gets out. The black-and-white 1950s sci-fi aesthetic is stylish, even if the grayscale presentation means there’s not a huge amount of visual variety.

Gameplay is tougher than expected. Health and ammo are limited, enemies aggressively rush you around corners, and the ranged ones can be especially frustrating. A lot of the tension comes from resource pressure rather than pure horror. It wasn’t particularly scary for me, and the final boss fight felt a bit underwhelming, but the combat keeps you engaged.

Overall, it’s a strange little horror shooter with solid challenge and a memorable premise. Not groundbreaking, but definitely interesting. Worth grabbing on sale if “demonic pony factory” alone makes you raise an eyebrow.

I beat this game in 40 after paying $2.19 for it, and I think that was a good deal. It's very short, linear, and basic, but the vibes are immaculate and the gameplay is just adequate enough to be enjoyable. I hope more people choose to support this dev, because I would love to see what else they are capable of.

I feel like this game would be one that you would find on a russian website after the owner got arrested, and years later someone would make a reddit post asking if anyone remembered it, saying they played it as a kid or something like that. it feels more like a demo, took me like 30 minutes to beat it, I wouldnt spend more than 3 dollars on this and honestly its so short that if I wanted to, I would just ask for a refund. it aint that bad if youre just looking for a game where you shoot anything that moves, but other than ponies and a single gun, it lacks a lot as a game. still recomended tho

I'm not easy to scare but I was white-knuckling my mouse. Never knew when I'd turn a corner and run into a hell pony. The black and white coloring and the music really added to it. I wish there were more med kits, but I also am from the Cyril Figgis school of "Cannot Aim To Save My Life" so I kinda was not the best at taking out horses quickly.

• Забавная ходилки-бродилка взад-вперёд, и всё.

• В начале пару раз дёрнулся от резкого появления поняш, а после, уже спокойненько всё пробежал. Игра чисто на 30 минуток, сюжета прям сногшибательного здесь нет, скорее так, для галочки.

• Чувствуется, что проект так, чисто выплеснуть появившуюся в голову идею и мне лично зашло. Кто собирает коллекцию подобных "шедевров" пойдёт по скидке. Если жи не фанатеете от подобного визуала и данного рода экспериментов, то лучше уж мимо, полчасика жизни сэкономите.

• Ну и чисто от себя. В игре прикола ради есть 4 разных режима сложности. Обнаружил я их правда после прохождения игры, но так, они ощутимо добавлены ради прикола и реиграбельности, если таковая вообще есть.

I ended up refunding this game. It’s fun and has potential, but it feels more like a demo. I finished it in about 45–50 minutes, which is extremely short even for the price. There are only about 2 or 3 enemy types in the entire game. The map is very linear, so there isn’t much exploration either.

At the time of writing this review, there are also no achievements to encourage replayability or give players a reason to keep the game instead of refunding it.

It’s not a bad game at all. In fact, it’s quite enjoyable. However, it needs more polish and additional content or updates to feel complete.

If you’re a fan and want to support David Szymanski, you might still consider buying and keeping it. But from a general consumer perspective, it’s hard to justify the purchase in its current state.

Basicallyits a really good premise and idea but it is kinda executed badly.
The aiming is horrible, the factory is hard to navigate and its way too easy to get lost, Theres not enough med kits or ammo that you actually need and in 15 minutes ofplayingi managed to fall off the map.

i just found this game really disappointing. The atmosphere is good and the premise was really interesting, but the frame rate choppy at best (may just be my system though, but I've run harder to run better) and the gameplay felt extremely undercooked. Disappointing since I really like Szymanski's other work, but I just can't recommend. Go play Squirrel Stapler.

The Pony Factory is pretty fun and there's some pretty anxiety filled moments too. A lot more stressful than Squirrel Stapler, which is set in the same universe as this one. It also has the dark humor you can expect from a David Szymanski game. I like that it adds to the lore of Squirrel Stapler and gives you more to think about from that world. I will definitely play Butcher's Creek soon.

Il gioco è semplicemente ciò che era incluso nella fantastica Dread X Collection. Non fraintendetemi, il gioco è spaventoso e tutto, ma è molto monotono e, come già menzionato, è lo stesso identico spiccicato, però a parte chiede 3.99€. Vi direi di prendere la Dread X e giocarlo da lì, non solo risparmierete soldi, ma avrete anche più giochi compreso questo. E le modalità extra che aggiunge (Veteran, etc.) non valgono il prezzo del biglietto. Lo consiglio comunque perché nonostante tutto è un prodotto fatto in 7 giorni, che regge, e che spaventa.

A short and simple half hour horror game. That luckily didnt overstay its welcome.

The game is relatively simple, walk dark corridors, kill the creatures, get what you need and then walk out again. The combination of dark hallways and having to swap between your flashlight and gun works really well. Your shots lighting up the hallways creates a certain level of dread when you try to shoot the monsters. And them running at you fast really makes the dread feel over the top. The dark/grey atmosphere makes it feel extra hard to distinguish between what is a monster and what is the background. And the colors you do finally see feel extra impactful.

I do have some problems with it, the gameplay gets old really fast. with only 2 enemies (which have 1 smaller and one bigger varient) you always know what you need to do. The AI is also not always the best, as standing in certain spots will just make the AI walk a pattern instead of attack you. Because of these problems, the game being short is a good thing, as I think it would otherwise encroach on a tedious/annoying experience.
Also, the final boss is very meh. It wasnt really a challenge or as impactful as I wouldve hoped.

Overall, I can recommend the game. Maybe get it on sale. Just keep in mind that what you get in the first level, is what you will get for the rest of the game.

I wouldn't actually recommend this game, the story (even if it's short) and the enemy design is great, don't get me wrong i am a huge fan of the developer and i think fondly of his other games, being cool as hell. This game in particular falls short (imo) on the gameplay...Enemys AI (especially the pony shooters, is just straight up unvoidable damage since they get up close and personal often and shoot u, meanwhile your weapon can't shoot bullets fast enought to kill them...the final boss, is the steroid version of this enemy design and honestly, it doesn't really feel fun like as it is in Butcher's Creek for example) However i can say that the game is cool, and althought i personally wouldn't recommend playing it, i recommend you looking it up on YT or Streaming and you would get the story side and enemy design cool part, without the gameplay which is repetitive and kinda frustrating...also, the game is really short, having taken my time and read all of the notes pretty slowly, i have played less than an hour (and half of it is actually mirrored, since you have to get through the factory, and then escape throught the same exact rooms in reverse, furthermore there are 3 main enemies (and one is just a version of the other, but bigger, so actually same exact design,to conclude all this makes the game hella repetitive). Still, i like the vibe and the concept behind is cool.

The Pony Factory as it is a pretty solid short half hour experience originally made for a Game Jam in just a week, with this version being a bit polished up (though Included is the original as well if you wanna see that too!) and because of that a lot of it's design is fairly limited, but it's still a pretty fun half hour experience with some nice gunplay and a visual style that kind of reminds me Mike Klubnika's work with stuff like Buckshot Roulette. It also has a few other modes which are pretty interesting if you're a fan of it, but as it is it's a pretty solid little experience.

SKill issue idgaf. No health, everyone does a million damage, no regen. The redicle is smaller than on Kovakk's aim trainer.
Easily the most frustrating 'FPS' game i've ever played. You can't see anything which does make for some good jumpscares i guess. But it makes for really terrible shooting and gun play.
All in all not fun and also 2 minutes long.
P.S: is this a brony game? it's not funny if it's trying to be ironic about Brony stuff...

I can see where the inspiration came from, because the Doom 3 resemblance is quite strong.
So if you like games like that, you'll surely like this game as well.

Zcela bez mučení se přiznám že jsem ke koupení pony factory měl 2 důvody: 1) od tvůrce už jsem dohrál iron lung a byl jsem nadšený z atmosféry 2)PONIES! A jsem naprosto nadšený - hra je sice velmi krátká (teď už jsem ji dohrál, ani ne za hodinu) ale opět je atmosféra hutná tak že by se dala krájet, zvuky a nepřátelé a celkové ladění do černobíla atmosféru ještě prohlubují a lístky s příběhem a finální boss jsou pomyslnou třešničkou na dortu.
Rozhodně stojí za to koupit a zkusit i v plné ceně.

This game is a good example of combining horror with dark humour. The combat encounters are tense (especially due to having to alternate between the flashlight and the weapon). The atmosphere is also pretty unsettling thanks in part to the ambient soundtrack, as well as most of the game being in partial or complete darkness. The notes are where the more humorous aspects of the game are shown. They are deliberately absurd[spoiler](especially the 4+1,4,0 note which reveals that the upper management pumps glue fumes throughout the factory to keep the employees "in the right mindset") while also driving home the point that nothing that ever went down in the factory was a remotely good idea in the first place- an obvious fact that eluded Winston (David Szymanski even stated that the notes were not meant to be subtle about it in his developer playthrough of the game).[/spoiler]This is an easy recommendation if you like David Szymanski's games. If there's a sale, I would personally recommend getting the whole Night Fever Series Bundle.

Another good game from the Szymanski brothers. My only real complaint was the final boss; he wasn't that fun to fight. I wasn't sure why he would take damage, and then not take damage. During that boss encounter, I did manage to fall through the map somehow endlessly. I think I got hit against a shelf in the room, and it made me clip through the map. It was hard to tell because it was so dark in the game. I had to reload a checkpoint because there was no kill floor while falling.

This is a really fun short horror experience with an interesting story and some genuinely terrifying moments. Not being able to see while shooting adds a whole new layer of tension, and those fast-moving ponies make you fear every corner you turn.

Pros:
+ Simple but engaging story
+ Excellent use of setting and lighting to amplify the scares
+ Every pony encounter manages to be terrifying
+ Multiple game modes add variety to your playstyle

Cons:
- None for what the game sets out to be

Взял на хеллоуинской распродаже отборной крипоты за 100р
Страх где-то на уровне Dead Space 1-2, но тут игра один сплошной скример.
Если хотите за дешман обосраться от страха - эта игра ваш выбор.

P.S. Автор, ты что курил, делая такую концовку?
Думаю равнодушных не нашлось.
