I have requested a refund as I find this game over complicated and not fun. I can see what they are trying to achieve, but its just too complicated trying to remember all the information and all the stuff necessary to figure out the ghost, I am so baffled by all the positive reviews for such a no-fun game.

A great Phas alternative - even spookier to be honest & more difficult, loads more customization with different ways to spend your money, I only have 5 hours on record at the time of this review but this is going to be one of my ghost hunting mains.

More ghosts would be great, I find they move around too often, cemetary is way too hard however - ran around with a friend looking for the ghost and couldn't find it anywhere until it just triggered a hunt and killed us, but overall I love this game.

The Other Side has been an absolute blast to play.

The visuals are one of the first things that grabbed me—the ghosts look fantastic, the locations have a strong atmosphere, and the avatar customization adds a lot of personality and fun to the experience. It all comes together in a way that makes the game feel polished, distinct, and easy to sink into.

What has impressed me just as much is how responsive the developers are. They genuinely seem connected to the community and invested in the people who enjoy their game, and that kind of care shows.

I also just recently started streaming (just had my third stream), and this was the very first game I streamed. I’m really looking forward to continuing to stream it as the developers keep building on what is already such an enjoyable experience.

It’s fun solo, but it absolutely shines with a group of friends. Having support for up to six players is such a welcomed addition to the genre and makes the game even better.

I’m really happy with how The Other Side has been evolving.

The updates have been great, adding new items and features that keep things feeling fresh. In some ways, I actually prefer this over Phasmophobia because of the variety and freedom it offers.

The different game modes give it a lot of replay value, and I’m especially excited for the “Survive the Night” mode.

Customization is a big highlight, you can change your character, vehicle, and even your HQ, which adds a lot of personality to the experience. I’d love to see even more options in the future, especially more furniture to decorate the HQ, because that’s such a fun feature.

I also really like the laptop and smartphone mechanics. Being able to customize them is a nice touch, and using apps while investigating is genuinely fun. The Phantom Detect app is already a great addition, and I’m excited to see how it continues to get new features.

The maps are well done, and the atmosphere is eerie without relying on cheap scares, I still get caught off guard by unexpected ghost events.

Overall, I definitely recommend it if you’re into paranormal investigation games. I’ll be continuing to play.

tried the game this week! love the concept and the gameplay, especially with the utilization of the phone and cutscenes/interactives when you reach the other side. considering that it is still in early access, i'm in high hopes for this game and it has great potential.

though i also agree with some of the reviews that other ghosts doesn't have any unique behavior and some runs gets boring because there are little activity even on higher difficulty. i think i want to see how creative the ghost will be, maybe writing "don't look back" then a jumpscare or how ghosts will try to manipulate your items or somethin because one thing that i liked the most on TOS so far are the jumpscares and i hope there will be a lot of those in the future!

10/10 Spooky Game!!!!!

The devs for this game have went above and beyond. My husband and I love this game and are glad we found it. It's like Phasmophobia but ten times better and ten times scarier. The new orphanage map gave me such a fright we had to hop off the game for the night. They have added even the smallest of details while keeping the game running smooth plus they have a sensitivity setting for your mic!

Game runs good, love the gameplay and the graphics. My only problem unfortunately is the game doesn't have many players, so you are basically stuck playing solo or with friends you drag along with you. Even joining the official discord its dead besides when the devs open lobbies. Ill thumbs up for now but I was there was an option for mixed.

Very fun game. Great community. At 31 hours I can say I am still very much enjoying this game over similar titles such as phaso. What this game does is allow more people to play together while also having the cleanse mode which is very exciting when you get it right as much as it is when you get it wrong. I look forward to what the devs do with this game. at 100 hours I will give my breakdown of the good the bad and the in between.

Bought for $10, well worth it for some spooks with friends. Plenty of content for that low of a price. Optimization needs some work, some levels in the middle of investigation the framerate will drop from 100~ fps to 30ish (high to very high settings).

The Other Side offers so much for players who enjoy ghost-hunting games. From the jump scares to the ghost models, the game creates plenty of fun and exciting hunts. One feature I really enjoy is the option to play either Identify Mode or Cleanse Mode. While both modes are great, Cleanse Mode is definitely my favorite.

I also love the character customization and the ability to upgrade your base, which adds another layer of progression to the game. For a title that is still in Early Access, it already shows a lot of promise and has great potential once it fully releases.

This is not like Phasmo. People are saying it is, but I'm not sure what people are referring too. Maybe the tools, if it is that, well that will be the same in every ghost game. The noises, the ghosts, the buildings are all far more scary on this. I am at level 200 on Phasmo and my friends on 500-600. They all say this game is far more scary. Banging doors and windows, I have really jumped! I do have a 4070 and a good pc so the graphics are on the highest. The game is not finished, but I hope many will buy this game so it gets completed. Worth every penny, and it wasn't expensive. If you want to be more scared and jumped upon, with ghosts crawling the floors walls and celling, then this game is for you. There is a cemetery!

As a horror gamer enthusiast, I'd say this is probably one of my faves in the ghost hunting genre. The Cleanse mode is defintely unlike any other and superior IMO. This game also allowing for up to 6 players is super great, and although you might think that could be imbalanced, surprisingly its like way more challenging and chaotic. The customizable bases give you something to actually want/need to play and earn money for. Their events are actually interactive and fun.

Although its's no secret that I have had hang-ups in the past about the lack of diversity in character customization, it's finally been implemented with more to come, and there has been acknowledgement of it taking too long on their part. I feel like this says a lot about the dev team, espcially in comparison to other dev teams that ignore literally everything. I have high hopes that they continue in this direction with listening to the community and I am really excited to see what the future hold for this game!

TOS is a great game! I am usually a Phas girlie but TOS has a place in my heart as well! I love that I have to develop two different play styles for each game! You can't treat each game like they are the same. I love the different interactions and jump scares as well as the fact that each ghost and location has their own lore. The dev team is amazing to chat with and learn from and some of the Content Creators have become great friends. The community is amazing as a whole! 10/10 recommend! Alright, where do I start with this review? This game has two devs that work tirelessly to make sure the game is fun for everyone. The community surrounding it is extremely supportive and one of the friendliest gaming communities I've ever met. The devs actually listen to the community when it comes to ideas for the game, or bugs that need to be fixed.

If you enjoy Phasmophobia, you will absolutely love this game. They have events for the holidays, and have just recently celebrated their one year anniversary! For the content creators out there who stream on Twitch and other platforms, they have an application you can put in to become an official content creator on the game. All in all, I highly HIGHLY recommend this game. The maps are fun, and hand designed, all of the maps are custom made. It can support up to 6 players in one game, so it's a definite recommendation to play with your squad of friends. THEY ALSO JUST ADDED A NEW MAP CALLED THE ORPHANAGE, AND IT IS ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING.

Do not waste anymore time, and buy this game. Genuinely, you will not regret the decision that you make. It is typically $15, but for the one year anniversary they put a discount on it. This game is DEFINITELY worth the money!

This game is amazing. The fact that you can play in a team of six is a huge highlight, and the level of customization is incredible. The gameplay itself is really fun and well designed.

However, it’s not very easy to jump into the game on your own without having someone who already knows how to play. They have a tutorial for the cleanse mode that introduces it and there is some information available on their Discord but, if you don’t use that it can be hard to get started without bringing in a friend. While the Discord is full of people looking to play, it isn’t always the most comfortable or reliable option for everyone.

Overall, it’s a great game and I definitely recommend it to others-just be aware that the learning curve is much easier if you have someone to guide you at the start.

Don't waste your money. Game is glitchy. Camera angels are crap. Not an easy game to navigate. Every time you open the game you have to reset your settings and it becomes unresponsive frequently. Genuinely a very good game and sets itself apart from others in the genre. They don't try to reinvent the wheel with existing, very good mechanics either. IT IS AN EARLY ACCESS GAME! For early access, it is surprisingly polished. I have less than ideal hours, but between playing while visiting friends and family, it is my favorite. Only reason I don't play more is because it's not cross play and my wife & I play these types of games together - although they have confirmed they are aiming for a console release! Very communicative and passionate team that takes pride in what they're doing.

I'm about 10 hours into this game and haven't even scratched the surface of everything it has to offer. I'm having tons of fun playing and learning all about the ghosts, items, modes, customizations, etc. included in this game. It is fun to play solo or with a big group. The tools and items function perfectly and have just enough of a learning curve to pique the interest of someone who likes a challenge, like me, without making it overly complicated. Its well thought out and well executed by a first-time dev. The dev put his heart into this game, and it shows. Well done. Highly recommend.

[b]The TL;DR:[/b] [i]The Other Side[/i] is Phasmophobia in a tuxedo. It looks stunning on Unreal Engine 5 and fixes common complaints like player count. However, underneath the polish, it is an obvious example of a developer trying to run before they have learned to walk.

[h2]The Good: Modern Bones & Utility[/h2]
The developers clearly used the community’s collective wishlist as their design blueprint. You get support for more than four players right out of the gate. There are also early systems for character and vehicle customization. While these are clearly a work in progress, it is nice to see them included. Character options are limited to a few clothing items. Vehicle customization currently consists of buying different trucks with varying storage space.

Mechanically, giving the player's left hand a purpose is a huge win. Being able to use a cellphone for a weak flashlight or photos while holding other gear is a massive quality-of-life improvement. Visually, the UE5 atmosphere is incredible. The scares feel house-wide and deliberate rather than being confined to a single ghost room.

[h2]The Bad: Cut Corners & Inconsistent Polish[/h2]
The immersion snaps as soon as you look at some of your primary equipment. While the tablet looks okay, the phone feels like a low-res relic from 2007. The laptop situation is particularly bizarre. During a contract, you use a "CCTV Laptop" set up on a table within the base of operations. This entire setup is polished and feels modern. However, the laptop back at HQ looks incredibly dated and low-res. It seems most of the graphical bandwidth went into the environments and the field equipment. This leaves the UI and certain assets looking unrefined. It is a jarring contrast to the modernized look the game is trying to sell.

[h2]The Gameplay Loop: A Frustrating Chore[/h2]
The biggest sin of the game is its lack of focus on core mechanics. There are two modes available with a third "Survival" mode in development to look forward to. Unfortunately, the basic gameplay is currently a chore. Locating the ghost and gathering evidence feels clunky.

Right now, it seems the only surefire way to find a ghost is via temperatures. This forces teams to spam two or more thermometers just to get a lead. The fix for this shouldn't have been another item tier. By adding a third tier, it feels like they were doubling down on a flawed idea rather than developing alternate approaches.

The game also stumbles into illogical item tier traps. There is zero incentive to lug around a bulky, two-handed easel when a simple book does the job. The same applies to the massive boombox used for spirit box interactions. While Phasmophobia’s development is slow, its refined approach and subtle ghost behaviors make every contract feel unique. In [i]The Other Side[/i], the ghost models are repetitive and the behaviors feel haphazard. The loop becomes a chore once the visual "wow" factor wears off.

[h2]Verdict[/h2]
I genuinely want to see this succeed. However, the developers need to prioritize the most trivial of concepts like finding the ghost and refining evidence gathering. In its current state, it is a tough recommendation. It has the bones of a great game, but it is currently all style and very little substance.

This game doesn't bring anything new or unique to the genre besides using the spectral affixer in cleanse mode. If you want a great horror game about collecting and destroying cursed objects to exorcise ghosts, play Project Unknown. It has several really neat layers of gameplay elements especially with each character having their own set of special abilities and skill trees to choose from. If you want a game about investigating the ghosts, just play Phasmophobia instead. TOS became stale without even leaving the first map or changing the difficulty. I also never tried the investigate mode seeing how that's literally a 1:1 Phas rip with less ghosts, evidence, behaviors just EVERYTHING and I don't know why anyone would want to play that mode PERIOD. Seeing the same ghost every time and the lack of actual ghost behavior or special ghost events was very boring. There isn't a large list of equipment, evidence, or side objectives either so it's pretty unclear how or why there's supposed to be 6 player lobbies. The only progression in the game is character level, purchasing new base camps and camp decor, and vehicle cosmetics. All of the equipment in the game is basically available after just one novice cleanse. The entire game feels like an underdeveloped stripped down Phas clone with the pace Phasmo is moving these days making their own maps and models. This game is already dead, so random multiplayer matches isn't a thing you'll find here either if you're still that curious.

As a friend of mine put it: "Its just a better Phasmophobia. Like, this is his richer older brother y'know?" Game is really fun. I love the base customization you can do in it as well. The potential here cannot be underestimated!
Bit of an annoying bug going on right now where if you're talking or a friend is talking as you load into a map, especially when changing a map. It causes the game to crash to desktop. So just a heads up on that. It is early access, so anticipate some goofery, the developers are actively looking into it however.

The Other Side est un jeu sur lequel je n’ai pas encore énormément d’heures, mais suffisamment pour avoir fait le tour du contenu actuellement disponible. Et une chose est sûre : le jeu n’en est qu’à ses débuts, mais son potentiel est énorme.

Il propose de très bonnes idées, notamment avec des contrats qui sortent de l’ordinaire et qui renouvellent le genre. On retrouve un mode plus classique d’enquête paranormale, où il faut identifier l’entité, mais aussi un autre type de contrat qui change complètement la dynamique du jeu (je n’en dirai pas plus pour éviter le spoil). Un nouveau contrat est d’ailleurs prévu dans les prochaines mises à jour, et vu son nom, le potentiel semble très prometteur.

Les développeurs sont actifs et sortent régulièrement des mises à jour, ce qui est clairement rassurant pour l’avenir du jeu.

Petit point négatif cependant : la complexité globale rend le jeu assez difficile d’accès pour les novices du genre.

Pour le moment, je recommande fortement le jeu pour la découverte.
À voir maintenant ce que l’avenir nous réserve, mais le projet est clairement à surveiller de près.

Les points négatifs : Objets trop cher et si on meurt on les perds, le jeu n'est pas fini et certaines traductions ne sont pas là il y a du FR mélangé à de l'anglais et faut revoir certaines traductions. Le jeu est en acces anticipé donc tout ceci sera réparé enfin j'espère

Mais je recommande ce jeu il est très prometteur, Phasmophobia et les Phasmophobistes n'ont qu'à bien se tenir :)

I'm enjoying it so far. It feels familiar to similiar games in the genre but also very polished. The interactions with ghosts are excellent! I appreciate the moments where you're inches from the exit and the door slams shut and a hunt begins. What better time to get a good photo and give the ghost a good spray down of holy water? It's not my fault I'm incredibly antagonistic towards the ghost and their property.

What a hoot!

*I enjoy that this game feels like it has several years of development behind it and looks so much better than Phas. There's no carrot dangling going on about the promises about maybe introducing character customisation or maybe updating the locations, or maybe introducing a new mode. The effort is here and it's leagues ahead of its competition. I look forward to the finished product when it comes.*

i want to give this game a solid review. the UI is amazing, evidence is solid, good maps, sound etc. however, my biggest gripe is the fact that its a horror game with very little jump scare interactions. no walking apparitions in the background, creatures crawling etc. the kitchens exploding has gotten me good. the look at me sound seems to be the only one that happens overall though. demonoligist got me into this genre. it has had issues after 2.0 so i came to this one. ppppplllllleeeeeeeaaassssseeee add more interactive scares for individuals in the hunt. make me jump in my chair and hear my boys screaming in the discord. it would really put this one at a 10/10. i of course suggest this game because the price is easily worth the content. but it could be way better with a little razzle dazzle of jump scares.

my buddy wanted to try this game so we gave it a download. it was absolutely terrible. as soon as you join you get ai slop noise in your face. moving around feels clunky then for some reason the entire ui looks like a real cash shop?? there's also no people of color to select so thats a bit weird, there was another review saying the same. it feels like this game is a total money grab. dont buy it easy refund

The Other Side is hands-down my favorite ghost hunting game (and may even be my favorite game in general). The developers really care about the community, the community itself is amazing, and there are constantly things being done to make it better and better. With things like character customization, HQ customization, different game modes, and new maps being put out often, it is a game that constantly keeps you wanting to play more and more (even if I get scared all the time still)! I love this game, and highly recommend it for anyone wanting something better than the current ghost hunting/investigation games that are already out there!

The 6-player co-op claim is deceptive. the 6 player option is unlocked via progression, So if you're planning to play this with friends bear that in mind. By the time I figured it out we were outside of our return window.

Buyer beware until this is addressed.

edit: The devs have since addressed this issue with the most recent patch. Overall this game is an excellent successor to phasmophobia and demonologist. If you've enjoyed either, The Other Side will satisfy the same itch.

The Other Side is another game in the style of Phasmophobia, and surprisingly, it does a really good job at it. The game offers two main modes to keep things interesting. In Identify mode, your goal is to gather evidence and figure out what type of ghost is haunting the location. It’s very similar to Phasmophobia but has its own unique feel and pacing. In Cleanse mode, you also identify the ghost by collecting evidence, but there’s an extra layer of strategy—you place the evidence in a terminal, analyze the ghost’s characteristics, and track down its bound item to complete the mission. This mode adds more depth and makes the gameplay feel more engaging and tactical.

I would definitely recommend playing The Other Side if you’re a fan of Phasmophobia or just enjoy co-op ghost hunting games. It’s a fun, spooky experience that’s perfect for playing with friends and offers enough variety to keep you coming back for more.

Since the update to be able to play with 6 people the game is great! Being able to play with 6 people at the start of the game is amazing. The devs really take in the reviews and do their best to make everyone happy! Can't wait for upcoming changes and to see how this game develops in the future. I would love to see more equipment to spark more ghost interactions, and really can't wait for the overnight game mode.

Update:
After playing this game a little more, especially solo, there were a few things I tested around and still just cannot recommend this game.

Gameplay:
I want to again start off by saying IT IS NOT A BAD GAME! It's very polished, which makes the game look great, however, the AI still feels weird. What I mean by this is no matter where you hide, the ghost will find you. Doesn't matter if it hasn't seen you, it just knows where you're at. Making holy spray a must have in your arsenal. What's the point of the hiding spots if it will automatically detect you? It just doesn't make sense.

Equipment:
The equipment update was a little lack luster. You basically incorporated two items that do the same thing.. except one gives a flash and one doesn't. Not sure if that was the plan or not, but hey, it's your game at the end of the day. Some of the equipment doesn't really make sense to use. For one, the cheaper spirit box vs the bigger one. The bigger one requires two hands to use and is kind of complicated to figure out whereas the smaller one is cheaper, fits in one hand, and stays true to its classic use that everyone knows about. Same thing with the writing easel.. I genuinely do not understand the use for that one. The writing book does the job great. The new thermometer you included is great, but it's almost as slow as the home thermo, the only difference being you can track the temperature from outside. The only problem with this is I don't know why you would be tracking the temperature from outside in the first place. I liked using the home thermo because you could drop it and still see the termp in the room. So the new one is great, but doesn't really add a better benefit than using the first home thermo unless you're turning the lights off. Everything else equipment wise is the same.

Conclusion: The game isn't bad, but there just feels like somethings off and there needs to be a lot more added to it. I'm keeping my eye on the game for new features to come through for sure, because like I said, it's not a bad game. Just not one that I can see myself playing for a long duration as of right now.
