After 3 hours I cannot recommend it. The Letter is an intriguing game when it comes to the main narrative of the haunted Ermengarde estate, but when it focuses on anything else outside of that the game becomes a slow bore.

Played this game long ago on my phone but never finished it, so when it came to steam I was like shoot I remember this and can finished it finally. Even years later it still holds up nicely, it really is a well made visual novel with fleshed out characters and numerous branching paths. I originally intended to 100% it but the branching paths are so numerous that after 2-3 days of skipping through the story to get all the branches i missed I still have half left, and that just became boring.
I gotta tell how this game is gotta be the best horror visual novel i ever played. THE VOICE ACTING IS TOP NOTCH! Story isn't cringe and very well written! Knowing one of them are filipino and knowing yangyang mobile is also made by filipino is my fave!

My first contact with some characters was back to the diary game and I remembered even now how excited I was when I heard about this one because I loved the characters and I also love horror games with choices even if I was not sure if this was gonna be good since the difference between games is big I still gave a try and it was the best choice I ever made.
To be honest it's not my first time playing it (I played with my friend account) but I enjoyed it so much that I had to buy ans since then I've been playing no stop trying all the possible routes and there's so much to explore and to learn so much relationship dynamics and I love it I can't wait to get all the achievements done.
Anyway I super recommend this game it's a very fun and interesting way to pass the time it's long which is something that I like since it makes you get invested but after going through some choices you can just skip some things and try different things.
It starts a little slow but you get really into it and then you actaully build relationships with each character i wish there was more game play tho.

I thought it would be a story about friends who'll die one by one in a haunted mansion but it’s more than that. The trailer tells it's about who we'll save, who might fulfill his relationship according to our choices, I forgot the risk of someone dying doing a relationship. I love it is much about character development. We see where some of them live, their feelings for each other. We feel Isabella’s fear and Ash’s glare from powerlessness. Rose’s icy glare towards Ash. He is a rational observant. Zack considers moods. Isabella has a good emotional intelligence as she draws people to her with ease. Miss McCollough is not just a workaholic. Her witty remark on what Luke should be aware of. She’s so funny to listen to when she’s drunk! We feel compassionate to Hannah being not loved by her husband the way she wants. It's surprising he says to Rose he feels unworthy of his wife, when he thinks he's always been for his own person work drink. How could he behave like a spoiled child as an adult knowing [spoiler] his mom telling him to help wisely[/spoiler] ? Isabella’s confidence of how she loves her father to Ash is touching and her loudness contrasting with her nice attitude! It's gripping when Rebecca tells Zach Isabella doesn't know how to care for herself.

When Luke discovers the crib after killing _ he feels loathe for himself. It was like stopping time to see his distress then worriness [/spoiler] We see he’s a loving husband on the contrary if we have certain scenes. It's so moving he reached to comfort Hannah despite the break. At the true ending [spoiler] he suicides to pay for his sins and for having killed his wife [/spoiler]

just finished game and well here is my honest review ;
10/10 Arts : the background arts, CGIs , everything is beautiful, its not a cheap drawing you would see in other games.
10/10 Musics & SFX : its not only empty "text" messages, there is SFX sounds here and there that makes the atmosphere more realistic, plus amazing soundtracks that adds up to it, be it horror, sorrow or just calm.
10/10 Voice acting : it fits the characters and also its amazing, voice actors did a great job on this, anger or sorrow or fear, you can feel it from the voices and its so real, not some emotionless voice acting in other games.
10/10 characters : all characters are lovely (especially becca), different personalities they have really brightens up the atmosphere of the game.
10/10 Story : every decision you make, even the tiniest one, has impact on the story, its not like one or two decision matters then the rest are for decorations, all of it matters. plus the story itself is amazing, there is a fine balance between horror, humor and sorrow, you get jumpscares, laughs, and crying (trust me cuz i got them all)
plus people, don't complain about the endings, you do realize there are multiple endings not only one?

10/10 achievements : one of the good things about this game is the achievements, it gives you a purpose that makes you want to start from scratch and try different decisions.
there is a problem with the game btw, which was fine for me but it might not be for some people, its that there is alot of dialogues, well, alot of "character thinking" dialogues, but again as the developers said "over 700K words. Expect a lot of reading!" so yeah, if you are that kind of person who is always like "i don't have time for this" "i don't have time for that" well this game's not for you, its meant to be played with patience, sure "some" of the "character thinking" dialogues are unnecessary and useless but most of it is important, it gives details about the surroundings and also about the characters past or their life and etc so its best to read them all.
TL;DR i really recommend this game, it DOES worth it price with the amount of content honestly, but again if you want to buy it on a sale or not is up to you.

This game is terrible with a bad ending. You got to be so careful with the choices you make on it. It was good and all but I don't recommend buying it. The ending was just terrible. Idk if there are a bunch more endings but we should have the choice to keep everyone alive! Come on now.... There is no explanation of who that woman is or what really happened. They didn't show it! So if anything im more confused! It should have had a way better explanation and all to it... :/
Some of my issues with this game are ones of personal expectations. Others are not. One issue, which shouldn't really be held against the game, is that the art style just is not for me at all. I don't find it pleasant to look at, and not in the spooky horror way, just in the its not really to my taste way.
Something that really SOURED the experience for me, however, was the racism. One of the 6 main characters is INSANELY racist, to the point of calling the Black main character in the cast the n-word on sight. It's not QUITE as insidious as it would be from a western developer, and I'm willing to extend a modicum of grace to the Philippines based dev team and assume they may not have understood the cultural severity and impact of that word. Still, even with that in mind, the intention is to portray that character as racist, while simultaneously in other parts of the plot painting him in a very gentle, sympathetic light. I'm not sure if those two parts get reconciled (his chapter is the final one, I fell off the game in chapter 5), but for most of the game, they certainly do not, and the feeling is given that the racism is just another aspect of the thorny, rude and entitled exterior hiding a decent heart archetype the rest of his arc appears to be playing into. Which if that's the case, that sucks badly. I don't find it acceptable to have a character who freely tosses around the N-word and MEANS that ♥♥♥♥, isn't even trying to cloak it with the excuse of "dark humor", who weaponizes the police against a black man because his wife befriended that man, and go "awww but look he really wants to be a dad he's just nervous about being a bad one he's not a bad guy right?" Again, maybe chapter 6 reconciles this to some degree, but I don't anticipate that happening. However, maybe it's all foreshadowing for him as the true villain. Who can say? Not me.
I fell off, as mentioned before, during chapter 5. The reason for this is multifaceted. One of which is that chapter 5, spent with Ash, an inconsiderate, annoying, immature prettyboy detective, is the longest of the first 5 chapters by like. A factor of 3, if I had to guess. And I frankly wasn't looking forward to following his PoV in the first place. When a considerable chunk of time made barely a dent in his chapter, I kind of was done.
But my dislike for Ash was not the only thing that killed my momentum. One other issue was, and I fully admit this was at least in part a personal issue, I expected the titular letter to be more. Prominent. It's present! And relatively important, I think. But it being the namesake of the title instead of for example, the name of the mansion around which the game is centered made me assume this cursed letter and its mechanics would take a more central role in the story, choosing what to do with it, etc. and that's just not really the case, which I found to be a major letdown.
Another issue I had was that the story structure took away a lot from the horror in many places. The jumping around in time between perspectives, while interesting as a narrative device, deflates the tension and danger from many horror scenes where, in an earlier chapter, you've seen a character be fine in a scene set later. The loss of tension felt here could've been offset by the excitement of unraveling a mystery by viewing things from different angles, but the pacing of the unraveling feels like it was going to be heavily backweighted, and the mystery itself wasn't particularly compelling. Enough so that when I got to the Ash chapter and it was revealed explicitly that the chief of police was covering up for Luke, I went. Ok. Sure. I don't really care.
The horror also didn't totally work for me. It quickly felt pretty formulaic, without much to surprise, and I was constantly grappling with the conflicting emotions of feeling like the ghost has specific motivations and wants and none of the information being revealed causing said interests and wants to align with actions. Horror monsters don't have to be logical, or even comprehensible in motivation, but I felt like the mystery of this one, down to the refrain of "help me" implied that this one WAS, or at least wanted to trick me into thinking that.
But I'll end on a positive note. Isabella and Marianne, I did like them a good bit. The kid who showed up a few times was adorable. The shifting povs and filling in of timelines, while I don't think it worked here, is a super cool idea I'd love to see more of. And the Ermengarde did feel like a place with history and importance to its community, which can be hard to sell when making a locale for your horror story. And I enjoyed getting to see a ghost story drawing inspiration from outside the European tradition, and would love to see more.
If i spend 50 hours on one playthrough, i expect a resolution.
The game is very well done, the choice of narrating the story through different perspektives is great, and the game builds tension masterfully.
But then this kind of goes out of the window, as you need to complete every route, good and bad, to get all informations needed for the resolution and the best ending.
Because of the large cast, this takes a lot of time, so for quite some time, you just wonder why everything is happening. And the ending before the final resolution reads like "oh well, people are dead and there was a ghost, weird that that happend".
After hours of anticipation, this kind of kills the mystery and your interest.
At least the game comes with a build in walkthrough, so you arent forced to guess or rely on other people.
In short: From my point of view, the games goes on for far to long.

It took me a LONG time to finally play through this whole game and complete it, but here we are! It's good. Maybe even very good, if you get the True Ending, but I'm not replaying the entire game (even with skips) to experience that. As is, the experience leaves me a little wanting, though from what I've skimmed, there isn't MUCH that I would've gotten from the game that would improve my analysis.
The game's beautiful. Great voice acting, even if the studio production quality varies. Some good mood music. Animated dolls for the characters AND portraits AND full screen illustrated drawings for dramatic moments. My only complaint is that the character dolls sometimes look TOO MUCH like dolls, their eyes or facial expressions set in a way that seems uncanny.
It's better to live in the moment for the game rather than pondering the mystery, and that's a letdown. There's depth to every one of the seven perspective characters. Characters I love become wretched, characters that disgust me demonstrate a noble nuance, but you can't see every detail of any of it in a single playthrough. To do that, I'd need to restart the game and play through different routes. This is complicated by the fact taht you cannot JUST restart to any of the many, MANY branching path decisions, nor is there a toggle to change the effective decision you made or current relationship level with other characters, going into a scene. I've played at least 15 hours of this game, and I'm not going back any time soon.
The horror pieces were pretty good, with dark and unsettling ambiance, sudden shifts into horror mixed with slow progressions into dread, and some truly unsettling voice work and art for the supernatural. My only complaint are the QTEs that accompany some of these moments. They're frustrating because you're given little time to complete them before your perspective character gets killed off. I'm guessing it's meant to simulate a sense of hurried fear in the player, to replicate how the ghost makes the characters feel, but I found them distracting. Fortunately, you can turn that off.
Overall, I enjoyed my experience with The Letter. Maybe I'll return some day and see all the other paths. But even as-is, I'm happy for the experience.

8/10: I decided to play this game because I loved the other titles from this game studio, including Sait Maker and Love Esquire. I was not disappointed. The story featured in the game is superb. The decisions you make during the game not only have an emmence effect on your current chapter, but also determine how the following chapters play out. This creates a massively branching story tree, with a huge number of possible end-game scenarios.
The game plays in seven chapters, each having a different protagonist. The time lines of the chapters patieally overlap, which sometimes allows vieweign the same events from different perspectives. This also means that high-pace events ending each of the chapters are switched to slow-paced beginning of the next chapter. This might make the game feel slow at times.
Each chapter has a "good" and a "bad" ending, creating 7! (seven factorial) different end-game combinations. In addition to the "horror" aspect of the game, there is a "romance" aspect. Certain in-game decisions increase/decrease you current character's standing with other characters, which could lead to end-game romance. There are a total of seven different romance options in the game.
Regarding the story itself, given the amount of branching in the game, it is very difficult to get all questions answered in a single play-through. Of all the different end-game combinations, there is only one that is considered "true ending". To achieve it, some of the characters must die in the course of the game. The decisions that lead to each chapter's outcome are not always obvious. THis might make it a surprise how your current character ends up at the end of the chapter.
To summarize, this is another example of a superb game from this studio. The main highligh if of course the story. I am looking forward to playing the next game they release!

The Letter é uma Visual Novel, e como tal, possui uma jogabilidade voltada para a narrativa, com pequenas ações do jogador para decidir entre uma escolha ou outra, que pode definir o destino dos personagens. Considerando o gênero, a jogabilidade cumpre o seu dever. Ponto extremamente positivo que nem todas as visual novels possuem é a voz dos personagens e a atuação das pessoas talentosas por trás dessas vozes.
- História:
A narrativa é o coração do jogo. É um clássico caso de terror onde os protagonistas precisam entender o motivo por trás de mortes, desaparecimentos e aparições. Um ponto extremamente positivo é a mudança de perspectiva durante o jogo, o que deixa o jogador ansioso para entender o destino do personagem que estava jogando antes da mudança de perspectiva. Os personagens possuem profundidade e são interessantes de se conhecer e entender.
- Gráficos e Arte:
O estilo artístico complementa o jogo com maestria, sendo brutal e sangrento quando precisa também. O design da aparição é bem grotesca, o que contribui para o sentimento de terror silencioso que o jogador sente cada vez que ela aparece.
- Som e Trilha Sonora:
Bons atores, que contribuem para a imersão. A trilha sonora, apesar de boa, não é extremamente memorável.
- Design de Mundo:
Cumpre o seu papel.
- Desempenho Técnico:
Não tive nenhum problema técnico.
- Rejogabilidade:
Moderada. Após uma longa história, o jogador pode se cansar e não ter a vontade de rejogar e verificar como a história seria diferente caso escolhesse uma a opção x em vez da y. Para aqueles dedicados a verificar todos os finais, vale a pena.
- Imersão:
Com um fone de ouvido de qualidade, você até esquece está jogando. Boa imersão.

The Letter não é feita apenas para os fãs de visual novels. Ela é feita para os iniciantes no gênero, com uma história de fácil digestão e relativamente rápida. Para aqueles que estão pensando em iniciar o gênero, é uma ótima pedida. E para aqueles que estão acostumados, esperem uma ótima experiência. Nada como Doki Doki, Raging Loop ou You and Me and Her, mas ainda sim uma ótima experiência para os fãs do gênero e para os amantes de terror.
A jogabilidade é o que é esperado, o desempenho é ótimo, os personagens são cativantes e as cenas são marcantes.
Em um churrasco, The Letter seria um contra-filé. Saboroso, mas não é a estrela principal.

换pov的设定还蛮有意思的，但废话太多太多了，整个游戏有百分之七十的时间都在闲扯，以及狗血烂俗的多角恋。jump scare做得比较无趣，缺乏恐怖氛围的构建。
steamdeck上不支持中文字体，打开是空白的，明明前作都没出现这种情况。
Good characters
the writing is not always the best, there are lots of typos, and the art style moves weird but IMO that just serves to make it even more creepy! I was not expecting a visual novel to have QTE's so I had to SCRAMBLE the first couple of times because no two QTE's have been the same thus far.
one thing that I absolutely do not like is that the volume controls do absolutely nothing. The voices are inconsistent volumes between characters and there is no way to equalize them because the settings don't change no matter what. I am trying to contact the devs to figure this out but have yet to get a response.

Die Story ist unglaublich gut und alle Erzählstränge werden tatsächlich nach und nach verbunden, verknüpft und es wurde nichts vergessen. Es ist unglaublich toll, wie sich alles nach und nach zusammenfügt.
Entscheidungen, die man selber trifft, haben auch mal tatsächlich Einfluss auf die Geschichte.
Sie ändert sich sobald man einen Weg einschlägt oder eine Antwort gibt.
Die Entscheidungen sind oft mit Errungenschaften verbunden. Nicht immer, aber oft.
Ich habe von den 172 Errungenschaften in dem 15 stündigen Durchlauf "nur" 62 freigeschaltet.
Es muss also noch Unmengen an anderen Wegen und Entscheidungen geben.
Dies macht aber auch Sinn, da es innerhalb der Geschichte schon anders hätte laufen können.
Möchte man alle Errungenschaften, Bilder oder mehr / andere Storyelemente freischalten, muss man an seine Speicherplätze gehen und neu laden (speichern kann man jederzeit).
Hier erwähne ich gleich: speichert oft und vor allem bei Entscheidungen =D
Manchmal hat man sogar kleine Quick - Time Events. Wenn einem diese zu schnell oder zu schwer sind, kann man sie hier allerdings mit Tab überspringen =)
Die Vertonung und Musik ist grandios. Die Charaktere sind vertont und die Stimmen passen perfekt. So etwas hatte ich schon lange nicht mehr. Die Hintergrundmusik und auch die eingespielten Töne und Sequenzen passen einfach zu jeder Situation- sei sie gruselig, traurig oder fröhlich.
Der Stil ist absolut ansprechend und schön gestaltet. Für mich sehr passend und auch die Charaktere werden extrem gut dargestellt. Man nimmt ihnen die Situationen und die Emotionen einfach ab.
Für mich insgesamt eine richtig gute Horror Visual Novel, die durch ihre Charakter Vertonung, Musik (auch der komplette Soundtrack), die Entscheidungen, die einen wirklichen Einfluss haben und vor allem die grandiose Geschichte, einfach absolut empfehlenswert ist. Hier wurde viel Liebe investiert, um so ein Werk abliefern zu können. Runde Story, einfach alles perfekt <3
Jeder, der Visual Novels liebt, gerne liest, mitreißende Storys mag, Horror liebt und eine gute Unterhaltung sucht, ist hier genau richtig. Von mir gibt es hier eine Herzensempfehlung für eine Geschichte, die einen gut in Erinnerung bleibt. Nehmt euch einen Kaffee, Tee oder Energy, eine Decke und fangt an zu lesen und vor allem: erleben =D
The pacing is atrocious and the ending is abrupt
So overall the game was an enjoyable game. However i had several problems with the writers especially towards lukes plot line near the ending some of his dialogue was contridictiory to what was exposed about him and in some ways felt bias. There was also very blatant ignoring of his racisim especially when the writers were comfortable hard Ring zach multipke times by luke. thats not even the main issue
Do not play this game if you want a resolved ending. The letter literally says show to 5 people and isabella was the first which means 6 ppl should be affected but somehow 7 ppl are and they never go over it. My other issue is they dont explain how all the other people were killed if they werent affected by the curse, they dont go over the kids who died in thee video, they dont explain how Luke is connected to the spirit. They also dont tell us how the cursee started or any resolution to the curse. The ending has 2 choices and BOTH give you the same ending??? which is wild because when you burn the building the spirit is begging for help as you escape making you believe there is a way to save her, which BTW we still dont know about why shes asking for help. The story is centered around 7 ppl being cursed and the game spends more time wasted on there personal backstories then the actual curse itself. which in the end gives us no clear solution or understanding we just kind of burn either and save the group..
The ending was lackluster with a huge whole and overall felt rushed like they didnt care to poor into the main plot. The game is enjoyable nontheless to just play but it had a horrible ending in my opinion

I'm not at the final yet, but I still can say that it is a great game, despite the cliches. I'm interested in going until the end...
Today's status: I finished about 80% of the game and enjoyed it a lot, but I can't deny that it has some big mistakes about the whole history's character, how it was told, and the path we can take. Somehow, some sprites of characters look like everybody has the same face. On the other hand, the whole game still has a place in my heart, so please take this game and draw your own conclusions.

英語メインなのでネイティブイングリッシュスピーカーが制作したテキストだと思って、英語教材としてプレイしましたが、文法間違いや、文脈がおかしいところが多いです。
最初は、間違いだと思わないので、いったいどういう構文なのかと悩んでしまいました。
あまりに間違いが多いのでどこの国の作者か調べたらフィリピンらしいです。
という事は、ネイティブ特有の表現も期待できそうになさそうです。

A nice mixture of visual novels with choices that actually matter, and quick time events to keep you on your toes. I feel like a matchmaker more than a detective playing this game, but the story is intriguing.

The Letter is a horror visual novel that tells the tale of seven people who fell victim to a malicious curse. Causing them to fall upon a series of hallucinations… or was it real?
[h2] Story [/h2]
The game contains seven extensive chapters, beginning with Isabella’s route as the first chapter. Starting at school, Santos was checking up on her friend, Rebecca Gales just before heading to work as a real estate agent. Her current large sale revolves around the infamous Ermengarde Mansion, located on the outskirts of Luxbourne City. It is rumored to be a haunted ghost paradise lurking about. Even various disappearances had been linked to the mansion. The usual cliche ghost stories, nothing special. However, Isabella’s unfortunate fate leaves her noticing a bloodied-up letter filled with two words; “Help me” which fills half the paper, and ending with the sentence “Send this to 5 people or else…” It is after this letter that the other six characters unexpectedly become cursed too. The plot even brings up their past traumas, troubled situations, their relationship, and how each character gets to meet the other even if they don’t relate entirely. Additionally, there’s a whole story behind the mansion and its original owners, though I didn’t get to know the whole details [spoiler] due to causing characters to die in certain branches. [/spoiler]
[h2] Atmosphere [/h2]
The vibrant CGs show a sense of life and sometimes coziness, yet they deliver horror and gore. The art for both backgrounds and characters is nothing short of astounding. I also noticed such beautiful details for various items such as foods!
[h2] Characters & Voice Acting [/h2]
The starting route order will be as follows: Isabella Santos, Hannah Wright, Zachary Steele, Marianne McCollough, Rebecca Gales, Ashton Frey, and Luke Wright. These are the main characters, along with a few minor ones. In each character's route, we will have access to their stream of consciousness in every event they experience with the others. In simpler terms, we get to see their perspective. There are clear options for both friendship and romance among the various characters.
I usually don't focus much on voice acting in my reviews, but in this case, it stands out fantastically. The voice acting is truly exceptional and is one of the reasons I kept playing. I especially loved the voice of Hannah Wright, portrayed by Amber Lee Connors. Her voice is soft, soothing, and elegant. It’s similar to my favorite British actress Billie Piper (fan since Doctor Who days). I'm not belittling other voice actors; they all delivered high-quality performances equally, and I particularly enjoyed Hannah's and Ashton's routes.

It’s a visual novel there’s nothing to do. It’s effortless, but there are QTEs, and it differentiates each time one occurs. You can choose to skip it though. Moreover, there is an extensive range of outcomes depending on the choices made in response to various situations. Each response can lead to multiple endings and affect relationships. A single choice may result in a positive or negative outcome for each character, or it could have a positive impact on one character while negatively impacting another.
[h2] Conclusion and Final Thoughts [/h2]
I really enjoyed it. Nevertheless, it didn’t hook me. The horror part in particular, it’s cheesy. It’s rather an otome for me. I liked the characters and their backgrounds. The writers did absolutely great with each one, which is why I continued to play because I got a huge crush on Ashton Frey, and partly because I wanted to see where my choices would lead, which happened to be a good ending in my opinion. The most boring routes for me were Marianne’s and Rebecca’s. I struggled to finish them the most. I had an expectation however before purchasing it that they’ll be trapped together in the mansion or something; sort of like Corpse Party in that regard. It did but only briefly in the final chapter. Yet the outcome did impress me too nonetheless.
As I’ve mentioned before, the voice acting influenced me too. It is marvelous! There were quite a bit details that annoyed me, but at the end of the day, I chose not to recommend it not because it is unworthy, oh believe me it certainly is if you want to consider it as an otome. Besides, I wouldn’t have spent 43 hours over it as a VN enjoyer. Anyway, the reason is that it didn’t deliver the horror part right. At least that’s what I think. It’s not scary at all and through my playthough I never once said (that’s fu*cked up) to myself which is something I always like to say when I see or read crazy sh*it (excuse my language I’m excited writing this lol). Back to the point, the amount of horror was less than the average and more like slice of life yaddi yadda.
All in all, it’s decent. Great characters, writing, voice acting, illustrations, and nice soundtracks. However, it’s weak in terms of horror. It has the elements set correctly but not the action for me. I would recommend it if anyone would prefer “romance horror VN” otherwise, I wouldn’t. There are better ones such as Death Mark.

给太长不看的人：这个游戏是个优秀的GAL，同时是一个糟糕的恐怖游戏：日常和恋爱的情节写的很出色，人物塑造立体，好感度分支系统很有意思，画面优秀，音乐优秀，配音优秀；但是恐怖氛围为零，主线烂俗且冗长，叙事方式极其糟糕，jumpscare不存在的，吓人的水平仅次于俄罗斯方块。
下面是正文：
首先首先首先，这游戏最令我不满的地方就是true end的设定，要达成真结局，必须要死三个人，而且每死一个人就会解锁一个记忆碎片，告诉你一段真相。而你要是全员存活通关了，反而到头来啥都不知道。这应该是我玩过的第一个鼓励死主角的游戏，制作组的想法真的太迷了。当然我知道恐怖游戏不死人不可能的，如果是剧情杀的话我完全可以接受，但是让玩家控制主角去送死？（何况那几个主角根本没有该死的地方）我反正做不到。
抱着这种想法，我最后去看了真结局的剧透，然后发现——这剧情TM和我猜的一毛一样啊，就是一个人杀了ta全家，然后死人的怨气盘踞在死的地方，无差别的把所有踏进那凶宅的人给杀了。不要觉得我在剧透，因为我只是在复述十几年前一个叫《咒怨》的鬼片的剧情罢了。说到这里，我觉得制作组里肯定有咒怨的大粉丝，具体的原因我放到后面说吧。话说回来，你要借鉴某个老掉牙的日本鬼片的剧情倒不是不行，但是强行加上一个美式主旋律鬼片的结局就很扯淡了。 这帮菲律宾人根本不懂亚洲鬼片的精髓啊。
然后，这游戏的恐怖场景少得可怜，制作组不但不擅长描写恐怖场景（词汇量匮乏，铺垫太过明显缺少突然感，CG画的不错可惜游戏内的演出效果一塌糊涂，QTE？不存在的，整个游戏只有七章，QTE加起来大概也只有七个），绝大多数剧情都是日常——导致的结果就是，这游戏不但根本吓不到人，反而一度让我产生在推GAL的错觉（狗粮真好吃）。听说制作组的下一个游戏是带恋爱元素的RPG？幸好他们及时发现了自己对恋爱模拟游戏是多么擅长，让他们做恐怖游戏真是屈才了（误）。不过我这句话并非完全开玩笑，尽管游戏的主线剧情非常糟糕，但是游戏在塑造人物和情感描写方面不可否认非常出色，好感度分支方面也做的非常好，要是制作组去做一款正常向的GAL肯定比现在这个“恐怖游戏”要好多了。
最后一点，和上面那点讲的其实是同一回事，这游戏的叙事节奏不行，给人一种冗余感——无聊的铺垫太多，高潮又结束的太快。
而剧情本身的结构也很有问题，比如第三章结尾的时候游戏主线实际上已经小高潮了，但是突然插进来一个突兀的第四章，和主线一点关系都没有，第二章也给人一样的感觉，再比如第三章和第五章非常相似，完全可以删掉其中一章。要我说这游戏七章的剧情其实四章就可以讲完，一三（五）六七。至于为什么要把剧情拖这么长，大概因为作者有强迫症，每个主角一定要有一章，所以就变成七章了。（说到底，主角为什么一定要是七个人啊，要我说玛丽安这个角色完全是冗余的）
基于以上四点，我认为此游戏作为Horror Visual Novel是不合格的。
此外，这点八成是我自己的好恶问题，因为这游戏的文风真的很难受，总是喜欢在对话中间插大段心理描写，很容易让人跟不上原本的对话，再加上游戏本身的词汇还是偏难的， 也就是GRE的词汇水平吧，顺带中间插几句法语，读着是真的累，而很不巧的是，这个游戏文本量奇大。
好了批评完了，下面说优点：
这游戏的美术、音乐、配音，还有上面说过的，GAL元素和人物的塑造，每一点都非常精良。
特别要提一下游戏的配音，而且是全对话配音，真的非常棒，我特别喜欢伊莎贝拉的哭腔，还有卢克在挑衅的时候和发毛的时候的声音，可以听出CV是非常代入角色的；此外玛丽安的爱尔兰口音，瑞贝卡的苏格兰口音，还有管家的德国口音都非常还原，再次强调一遍，配音非常棒。
至于游戏的画风，有个很迷的地方，PV和笔记本里都是日式画风，但是立绘和CG都是美式画风，当然这不是什么问题就是了，要是一群日式画风的人一开口就是流利的英语那才是大大的违和感。此外，这游戏的立绘和CG会动啊，虽然不是live2D，不过制作之精良也很让人感动了。
最后最后最后，我一开始说到了制作组里肯定有咒怨的大粉，因为这游戏的咒怨梗真的太多了，虽然也有其他鬼片的梗（比如贞子钻电视的梗），但是咒怨梗绝对是最多最明显的。除了剧情完全照抄咒怨之外，还有几个地方：每一章开头会显示主角的姓名、女鬼的外表和爬的移动方式（这两点不一定，因为这种设定挺常见的）、女鬼登场时发出的“啊……啊啊”的声音（给不知道的人科普一下，这种声音是被割喉的人发出的）、女鬼钻被窝（可惜没见到下楼梯）。

叙事很枯燥，大量无人在意的日常和感情戏和几近于无的推理，靠着对真相的好奇坚持到最后也很失望……好浅薄无趣的故事
剧情不错，任务个性鲜明，每个人有每个人的恐惧，要是静下心来玩还是很不错的。
恐怖程度一般，主要放大的是人物内心的恐惧，但是玩法还行，比较考验反应能力。
人物配音，音乐和音效都不错。喜欢文字恐怖类游戏的推荐！！！

I really disliked this game, it's not Terrible, but I found the story very frustrating. I really loved the starting character, and the initial mystery of the Letter. But as the story continued, I found most of the characters really... irritating. Not in that I was upset they had flaws, but GOD we had ghosts, suspicion of murder, and one character throws a fit that the boy they like likes another girl and has for years????? COME ON! Similarly, im gay, and one of the characters arcs is internalized homophobia, which is a real thing that happens to people, but I really just wanted to learn more about the ghosts/supernatural mystery.
Horror is often a metaphor for the problems we have in our selves. And i thinks that's what the story is going for. But the friction between the Horror and the Daily Life problems just did not work for me. Ultimately I think this is an issue of personal preferences, but for other folks, just know there is Not much time spent on the letter in The Letter
What it's not:
It's more "Santa Barbara" with some horror elements than an actual horror visual novel. There were so many slice of life parts, that it made me want to go on a murder spree myself. I hope they make a fan disc where you can torture and murder all these awful and boring characters. This is the worst thing that has happened to "the Ring" since the American Ring 2...
What it is:
It's basically a multiple route mystery melodrama, where the focus is supposed to be on the characters. The cast is pretty one-dimensional and awful people. Even though all the main characters are supposed to be relatively smart adult people, they are as dumb as your average b rate slasher teens. Also this visual novel does the most annoying thing that a multiple route mystery can do, where you get repeated scenes (multiple times) without anything new. You basically see the scene from a "different pov", but the text is identical. And of course you can't skip it, because it counts as unread text. The art is very inconsistent and some of the proportions are pretty off. The CGs can look really good but the sprites just look cheap (with a flash game feeling to them). The profiles look fine (style wise), but were cut out weirdly with jagged white lines around them (maybe it's not a bug but a feature?).
TLDR: Genres are arbitrary and what is horror or not isn't the same for everyone. I would give this a "meh" for what it is (if I could), but since it's not possible and the game is advertised as a "Horror Visual Novel" it's a skip for me.

Just finished playing this and got like 2/3 of the total achievements, I've seen multiple good and one true ending and maybe I'll come back to collect the rest of the achievements in the future... or maybe not. Anyway, I think this VN had a lot of heart put into it, from the gorgeous art to the branching choices to the music (although less memorable than other VNs I've read). Here's a few things I liked and disliked about the Letter.
The Letter managed to write natural and convincing characters. Each character have their own unique take on the situation and their thought process rarely feel similar to one another. And don't forget about the art. The art is gorgeous and special. I'm glad the studio didn't go for the standard VN art and stick to something more westernized. The animated backgrounds/characters shows how much effort was put in and I applaud them for that.
Voice acting is a hit and miss. The over reacting and the higher pitched voices can be a bit of a displeasure to listen to at times. And almost everybody is overacting which is okay if it feels "right" but the characters aren't written that way. And the horror is kinda bad too, after ten times of seeing the ghost's face, most of us probably just didn't care anymore and find her more of an annoyance than a surprise. The QTEs didn't help either. I'm sure the studios put it in for the game to be more marketable but it became the downside after a while. A good horror is mostly about the atmosphere after all, and the Letter failed to deliver one.
Well to cut it short, honestly, I don't hate the Letter. In fact, I really liked it. I admired the effort put into it and love parts of it. I genuinely thought it has the potential to be a really amazing horror VN. It's almost frustrating to see how good this could have been. Here's wondering how the latest horror VN from the developer, Saint Maker, will fare. Maybe I'll buy it during this summer sale, guess we'll see.

The Letter é um Visual Novel de terror sobre uma uma mansão mal-assombrada que é vendida para um casal de nobres. Isabella Santos, uma corretora de imoveis, encontra uma carta misteriosa e logo ela e seus amigos passam a ser perseguidos por uma assombração.
A narrativa possui seus altos e baixos. O jogo possui 7 protagonistas, cada um possui seu próprio capítulo e múltiplos finais. Por um lado isso é bom pois enriquece a narrativa e permite que você veja aos acontecimentos de pontos de vistas diferentes, porém a troca constante de protagonistas faz com que a maior parte do jogo seja "filler" e só engrene nos capítulos finais.
Pra um jogo indie, os visuais e a arte dos personagens são muito bem feitos e ele é todo dublado em inglês. Nos primeiros minutos do jogo, há partes em que o diálogos da caixa de texto não condiz exatamente com o que o dublador está dizendo, mas isso é um problema menor. O jogo possui QTE (Quick Time Events), mas você tem a opção de desabilitá-los no menu do jogo.
Recomendo.

This is one of the best, if not THE best game I've ever played and I started to like it after an hour or two of play.
It starts off as an innocent, calm and rather cheerful story but everything starts to get *interesting*, more and more things get confusing which creates an uncertain tension.
I love how many paths you can go through and how many different choices you can have, that's a huge plus from me because I love all kinds of visual novels (preferably horror/psychological) and I love making different decisions.
Some of the graphics can be REALLY graphic ifykyk but that doesn't bother me, it shows the dedication to the mood and themes of the game. The music is nice and the voice acting is amazing (even if sometimes you can hear 2 people voicing one character). Overall - I love the atmosphere!! I'm determined to get all the achievements and every little thing in the game

This game is a mess. It's a shame because the artwork, voice acting, music, branching paths, and general story are all quite good. You can tell a lot of effort and love went into it. But the writing itself is AWFUL. The pacing is painfully bad and a constant problem. As soon as things start to get interesting with one character, their arc ends and you're forced back into hours of exposition with the next character. The game is filled with long, tedious inner monologues even during scenes where high-stakes action is happening. These monologues are very redundant and either spell things out that we already know, tell things that would be better shown, or go on about topics that just plain don't matter. It comes off as filler for filler's sake, not because there's something charming or important to convey. There are a ton of typos and grammatical errors, too.
The characters are also poorly developed. I think they had a lot of potential, but the writing for them doesn't bring it out. Sometimes their personalities are all over the place and they'll be quite distant or even mean to each other for no reason. The writers' blatant favoritism toward Ashton is obnoxious. He gets much more time and attention than the other characters and is constantly hyped up as this cool, cunning, mysterious heartthrob (despite him actually being quite the opposite). Meanwhile Luke is an irredeemable monster, to the point where I had no idea why the writers treat him like a sympathetic character or expect the player to be invested in his story at all.
There is huge variety in how events can play out, but it's not always done well. One character died in my playthrough and the group of friends built up to be like family barely acknowledged it - one was cracking jokes and flirting in the next scene, one just looked sad for a moment before shrugging it off, and another you never even see her find out. For a game supposedly all about character relationships, that is inexcusable.
No matter what path you take, the ending is a horrible letdown. After all the tedious reading, I was looking forward to finally unraveling the big mystery and having a thrilling final act. But it just ends with an unceremonious fizzle -[spoiler]the surviving characters argue in a bloody room and then leave. That's it.[/spoiler]There are no surprises or reveals; the game acts like [spoiler]the letter not being the cause of the curse[/spoiler]is a big twist but even for someone notoriously bad at guessing plots, that was glaringly obvious since chapter one. For how much is overexplained throughout the game, it only ends with tons of unanswered questions, things that didn't make sense, and plot threads that went absolutely nowhere.
Overall, the game has some good elements and I wouldn't say it's one to avoid at all costs. But, the problems weigh the game down too much to give it a positive review. I was pretty frustrated and disappointed by the end of it. The creative talent and passion is there, but the actual writing and editing skills required for a visual novel are severely lacking.

A pretty good VN with some fun QTAs. It does lose out to the better visual novels by a mile, but that is mostly due to their greatness and not to the weaknesses of The Letter. I do recommend trying it out as the game does portray its characters and their feelings incredibly well plus the story is quite good albeit generic.

[i]The Letter[/i] is an incredibly large visual novel—my first playthrough alone took around 19 hours to complete. While there certainly is a lot of reading, the whole thing is fully voice-acted (with great actors), which helps a lot. It wasn't until my second playthrough, however, that I truly realized just how much this story could drastically change. A character I assumed to be essential to the plot the first time around was written out in my second playthrough with just a couple of bad choices, and the game didn't abruptly end with a non-standard game over (or gloss over their ensuing absence). Instead, it continued, with their loss factoring into the continuing story in a way that almost felt as if it was meant to happen. I was also convinced at the time that characters I lost the first time around were meant to go with how naturally the story played out without them—only to find out in subsequent playthroughs that their loss was not necessary at all.
Achievement hunters will love finding all the ways they can shape the story, with dozens of achievements to earn for doing so. Completionists, however, will likely find exploring every possible path in the final two chapters to be quite difficult. Fortunately, the developers have included plenty of quality-of-life features to help with doing all of this. An option to [i]instantly[/i] skip all previously-seen text up until the next choice (allowing playthroughs to potentially be completed in mere minutes!), a branching tree to track what choices have been made while showing what choices remain to be made, and a gallery of all that you've seen thus far are all very helpful.

So far, it's good. I've been playing on Deck. I had read the game's QTEs require a full keyboard, so I disabled QTEs in the options. On Deck it defaults to trackpad as mouse and using A to proceed text, so it's easy to play this as a purely reading visual novel and use the trackpad to save and exit.
This visual novel is great because it's long, the dialogues are fully voice acted in English, you play as different characters so you can understand the story in different perspectives (but that also leads to repetition), and it have different endings to offer which depends on the choices you made. There are mini animations and mini-games where you fought against the ghost, which makes the story more immersive.
The Letter tiene algunos aspectos rescatables, como su estilo visual y el trabajo de voces, que demuestran cierto empeño en la producción. Sin embargo, eso no es suficiente para sostener una experiencia que, en lo narrativo, resulta profundamente decepcionante.

优点是一般的CG画的很好，女鬼出现的CG画的很凶很恐怖，女鬼每次出现的QTE小游戏很有恐怖压迫感，本游戏恐怖程度不比日式和中式差，全程英式配音配的很有感情很好，并且是多结局，大结局只有几个，个人分支的小结局很多，而且第一章可以影响到第六章的剧情细节。
缺点是作为AVG游戏，剧情淡而无味，而且前期太长，后面真结局虎头蛇尾一些就完了，都没交待具体的女鬼的故事，只使用几张CG来暗示女鬼大概的来历，细节实在太少。女鬼有一个写着崇子的项链，我以为她是日本人，但是这个古宅又在英国，几百年前应该几乎没有有日本女佣去英国打工吧。游戏分支虽然多，但是太多太凌乱了，即使看攻略收集也非常费时间，一般人估计很难有耐心。

Okay, first of all, yes, this game is long, but it took me 300 hours because I mostly played it in Chinese, and I'm not very good at Chinese. Well, I'm a lot better now thanks to this game, but anyway, your playtime should be much lower.
Anyway... is it a well-written, well-developed story with halfway relatable characters? Not really. Is it a fun, campy horror visual novel with good production value and A TON of choice? Yes. It's a (mostly) well-designed game with high production value, good art, and a sufficiently interesting plot with more branches than you can imagine brought down by unlikeable characters, poor writing, bad grammar, and the worst voice acting direction I've ever seen. If you're looking for a campy horror story with tons of choice and don't mind unreasonably long monologues, this is your game.
GOOD:
・The art. There are different art styles for the characters in different contexts (e.g., other characters you're talking to, your character's icon when they're talking, epilogue art), but they're all good. It's a very polished, nice-looking game overall. Luke has an annoying little line on his face when you're talking to him, but otherwise, the art is great.
・The choice. There are TONS of branches. Pretty much every choice matters, either giving you a different ending or changing the characters' relationships. Sometimes the relationship questions are ridiculously obvious and sometimes it seems completely arbitrary which option is the "good" one, but choices certainly matter.
・The branch tree. You get a nice visual for each chapter of all the choices and branches, which is such a great idea. It was quite poorly implemented, but I love the idea.
・The story. Well, there are a lot of problems with the story, and the writing is quite bad, but it's fun as a game. It would not be a good book, but it's good as a game. The characters (might?) grow on you.
・The soul. It's a labor of love, and you can tell. I have a lot of qualms with the game, but I can appreciate that the devs poured their hearts into it, and I did have a great time with it.
BAD:
・The repetition. Chapters 1, 2, and 4 are basically fine. Chapters 3 and 5 have some annoying repetition. Chapter 6 has a ton of repetition, and Chapter 7 is MOSTLY repetition. My guess is the visual branch tree design caused this because there's limited space to visually represent all the possible nodes, but the game won't recognize identical text on a different node as read, so you'll find yourself having to manually skip text ALL THE TIME once you're far enough in.
・The grammar. Forget a professional proofreader, this game didn't even get checked by a halfway competent native English speaker. You'll hardly go two lines without encountering some sort of mistake. I played most of the game in Chinese, but I did switch to English at the end, so I could still get a good picture of the English quality.
・The voice acting direction. Johannes and Ashton are the only characters with consistently good voice acting. Rebecca, Marianne, and Zach are consistently awful. Other than Kylie, who sounds like an adult exaggerating the squeakiest, most annoying kid voice in the world, I don't think the voice actors themselves are necessarily bad. I think it's just godawful direction, because the tone always seems at least 10 times more intense than the context. Rebecca and Marianne sound like they overreact with blind fury to literally everything and Zach sounds so annoyingly dense most of the time.
・The characters. I'm not sure what the devs were going for, but I don't think the characters are that likable. Ashton was the only one I consistently liked, but it seems like a lot of people don't like him, and the writers certainly villianize him every chance they get. The game gaslit me for 300 hours about Rebecca being "patient," even though she routinely starts yelling at her friends for no reason at all. Zach is really annoying because the writers won't stop doting on him. Even a character who hates him still says about him, in his first-person narration, "What little anger he is capable of feeling is clear on his face, lining his soft and kind features." Come oooon, is that how you would think about someone you hate? Really?
・The writing. It has all the typical trappings of amateurish writing, including unnecessarily pretentious vocabulary, semicolon misuse, overuse of italics, and inappropriate use of epithets (i.e., random descriptors for familiar people -- e.g., a guy in a first-person narration randomly referring to his wife as "the woman" instead of "she" or her name. Excuse me, do you have amnesia...?). Also, even though the characters have distinct voices in their dialogue, their first-person narration all sounds exactly the same. And the pacing, good god. I'm absolutely here for a slow psychological horror, but the monologues ramble on and on and oooon, bludgeoning you with boring and unnecessary details as you patiently or impatiently wait for something to finally happen. The dialogue is often similarly clunky, especially from Zach and somewhat Luke.
But for all my grievances in 300 hours of this game, I really enjoyed it. It was a good experience and a very promising start for this studio. So, yes, I can recommend it. Thank you, devs, for all the hard work and love you poured into this game and for the grade-A Chinese lesson.
What a great game.
This game is easily one of the scariest games I've ever played... and I'm quite used to horror games. I don't know if it's a mix of the voice acting and the scenarios and timing but I've never jumped so many times.
Speaking of voice acting and writing, the game is fantastic on those counts.
It's a slow burn. It really feels like you are just jumping into a fairly complex group of people's lives as they get mixed up with this horrifying scenario.
I fully admit I did not do super well on my first play through with people surviving and just had to set it down for a long while after that.

Хоча у грі і був момент, де я був на грані дропу, тому я можу зрозуміти тих, хто не дійшов до кінця, адже сюжет у грі дуже довго розкочується, + він аж ніяк немаленький, це явно не гра на вечір чи два, але якщо таки пробратись через усі терени розтягнутих описів оточення та місцями затягнутих діалогів, то гра може захопити своєю історією та персонажами.
У гри реально велика варіативність та безліч альтернативних гілок сюжету, тому навіть пройшовши гру один раз ви побачите далеко не все. Через що у гри багато варіантів для повторного проходження, відкриття усіх гілок сюжету, усіх концовок і т.д.
Також гра може похизуватись приємним деталізованим візуалом як самих персонажів, так і оточення. + усі діалоги у грі повністю озвучені, які також зазвичай супроводжуються чудовим саундтреком на фоні, що однозначно йде грі тільки на користь.
Тому я раджу як любителям ВН так і не дуже спробувати і дати The Letter шанс, особливо по знижці на якій я і хапанув гру.

Cuando uno es capaz de superar esto, es recompensado con horror japonés del bueno, porque los encuentros con el fantasma en este juego son geniales, a veces tardan en aparecer, pero cuando lo hacen golpean con fuerza y producen escalofríos de verdad. La trama se puede clasificar como una historia de maldiciones típica en la que los personajes quedan marcados. Se pueden escoger distintos caminos que quedan anotados en un gráfico, con las ramas de las decisiones tomadas o inexploradas, también hay un indicador de amor o de afinidad entre los protagonistas.

I recommend this game only for those who have patience and are able to endure long scenes with dialogues that explore the feelings and economic and social situations of the characters, which here are no more and no less than 7. When you are able to overcome this, you are rewarded with good Japanese horror, because the encounters with the ghost in this game are great, sometimes they take a while to appear, but when they do they hit hard and produce real chills. The plot can be classified as a typical curse story in which the characters are marked as a targets. You can choose different paths that are noted on a graph, with the branches of decisions taken or unexplored, there is also an indicator of love or affinity between the protagonists.
I like how many different choices there are and the different butterfly effects these choices can lead to. The art style is really good and the story really well thought out. Some of the dialogue and voice acting could be better but it doesn't take away from the gameplay or story. The QTEs are annoying, especially the one in the lift (if you know, you know). Overall would highly recommend this. It's more of a romance with slight horror story elements but very good.

This is a really solid visual novel, all things considered. The characters come from diverse backgrounds, the voice acting is good, the art style is pleasant, and the choices have true consequences. It's scary too! Although, there are quite a few errors in the writing that can be a little distracting at times. I love that the characters have relationships which you as the player can make or break. That's an awesome aspect to add into a visual novel. I've played for 18 hours already, over the span of a year or two, since I'm not a quick gamer, so take that into account, but it feels like a really long game. There's a ton of achievements I have yet to get. I definitely recommend this game. It's a high-quality, cartoonish (although not too much so), horror VN. The cartoonish aspect almost adds to the horror, making the heavy content all the more startling. Or, at times, it softens the blow. Play this game, for sure!
Great VN with probably the most branching path and best dynamic relationship system I've ever seen in an indie game.
Strong cast of VA and OST really elevated this VN
Unfortunately not for me tho. I find the plot is a little to basic and predictable for my liking but you'll find plenty to love about this VN

打好评单纯给制作组的各位工作人员，毕竟游戏篇幅确实不短又是全语音，工作量肯定不小。不过回到游戏内容上的话，我个人认为并不算是令人满意，整体的设定和文笔甚至也说不上多好，过于俗套的设定导致我越读越累，实在是没什么新意提不起兴趣。不过也单纯当作有闲空时看本小说，仅此而已。
