One of the most unique games I played. Visually it`s like if you mashed Stranger Things and Dishonored together, but it`s a completely different game, because there is no combat apart from knocking out enemies with certain gadgets, you mostly hide and look for evidence while avoiding NPCs, stalker player if he joins and an invisible entity if you make too much fuss. At first it was a horror game but as you get to know the layout and how the mechanics work it turns into a really fun and engaging stealth hide and seek game. The lore around it is crazy too and it tries to make you join a cult.

The Blackout Club es ese experimento indie donde un grupo de adolescentes decide que “hablar con un adulto responsable” es opcional, pero meterse de noche a investigar un culto/entidad/vecindario poseído con linternas y gadgets sí es planazo. Es terror en primera persona con enfoque cooperativo, sigilo y supervivencia: básicamente, Scooby-Doo si en vez de quitarle la máscara al villano, el villano te apaga la conciencia.

Como juego de Acción/Indie, se apoya en tensión, persecuciones y herramientas para improvisar. Como “Simulador” (sí, ajá), te simula muy bien la sensación de ser un chamaco tomando decisiones cuestionables mientras algo paranormal te respira en la nuca. La primera impresión es potente: atmósfera pesada, paranoia constante y la idea de que la mejor estrategia es *no* hacer ruido… hasta que tu equipo hace exactamente lo contrario.

The Blackout Club es de esos juegos que te dan una experiencia de terror cooperativo bien sabrosa: sigilo, tensión, sustos y esa narrativa de “algo está mal en el vecindario” que funciona porque no necesita explicarte todo con cucharita. Cuando el grupo se coordina, brilla: cada misión se siente como un plan improvisado que sale mal… pero con estilo.

El problema controversial (y realista) es que hoy el verdadero monstruo no es la oscuridad: es el contador de jugadores. Con 3 jugadores actuales, el multijugador puede sentirse como un club exclusivo… pero porque no llegó nadie. Y aunque tiene 2181 recomendaciones totales, eso suena más a “tuvo su momento” que a “está en su mejor época”.

Ne jouez jamais a ce jeu !

je ne fait jamais d'évaluations négatifs car pour moi chaque jeu mérite une chance. Mais la c'est de l'abus !
Je n'ai jouer que deux heures et je peut vous dire que plus jamais j'y rejouerais !

Des bugs a gogos, les mobs spawn devant toi comme par magie...

Le but du jeu ? j'en sais rien j'ai même pas fait une partie sans bugs, ah si mis a part me faire défoncé par un mobs ultra puissant qui en plus de sa est invisible...(c'est sa compétence ou je sais pas quoi mdr)

Pour les nouveaux joueur ils aurais du mettre un système ou le mob la n'arrive que a partir d'un niveau plus haut. Car a cause de sa j'ai eu aucune émotions durant mes deux heures de jeu. Mis a part de la haine envers ce jeu en carton.

Peut être que pour vous, votre expérience de jeu sera meilleure, mais pour moi c'est un échec critique.

The Blackout Club is a co-op horror game where you need to complete a series of objective in a little town corrupted during the night by a sect of sleepwalkers.

This game can be challenging and funny in co-op by moments, the mechanics are interesting and the atmosphere is at least stressful in many areas. The idea of investigation, searching for clue and proof around the map is quite great also.

But [b]it becomes quickly and easily boring to play in solo and can be frustrating even in co-op.[/b] Some of the objectives are annoying, the detection of some npcs is really irritating, the gameplay is really slow in many cases and the level progression is extremely long as well which makes the experience tiring (you need to be 4 players if you want to be the most efficient in this regards). To finsih, if you want to play and join random people, forget it, the game is completely dead ! The Stalker feature is impossible to use since no one is playing, so no match to invade.

[b]Even if I can have some good memories thanks to the co-op play, I clearly do not recommend this game. The development stopped more than 4 years ago, leaving a game half finished in terms of content and a frustrating experience.[/b]

As someone who truly loved this game and story, allow me to give you a little review should you choose to play the game despite a few mechanics no longer working due to dev support ceasing.

SETTING
Welcome to Redacre, a town in the radio quiet zone. Run by CHORUS a seemingly charitable organization, it is the perfect place to settle down and have a family....
OR IS IT?!
Deep below is a maze of tunnels, a twisting instrument manned by sleepwalkers. watched by cameras and patrolled by an ominous shape.

The setting of the game is beautiful nailing the small sleepy town vibe with the ominous structures below the town adding to the tension as the mysterious instrument drones on.

ENEMIES

"WHY HIDE FROM THE LOVE OF A GOD?"

The Blackout club has a small yet memorable collection of enemies, each functioning in concert with the other, from the humble sleeper to the terrifying shape each enemy is designed to fill in the weakness its fellows may leave behind and some lore can be gained from their strange whispers.

Enhanced Horror is truly what sets The Blackout Club apart from other horror games. Every word you speak could potentially reach one of the games "Voices" who may reach out in a variety of ways, from a dream within the hideout to directly entering a match to speak with you, every interaction is added to the canon of the games story, your words may have a direct impact on the direction the story takes and other forces may take note of your loyalties.

GAMEPLAY

"We don't kill, that could be your mom and dad or worse, mine!"

In The Blackout Club you are a teenager around 14 or 15 years old, who has for one reason or another decided to take on the herculean task of exposing the strange goings on in the town, everything is against you and far stronger than you are.

Make no mistake, if you get caught your gonna get hurt trying to push an adult away unless you have a way to escape, Climbing and staying quiet and out of sight is paramount to your missions success.

Various skills and starter equipment are available to any player allowing them to prank call enemies, use enhanced reflexes to dodge grabs, deploy drones or even just becoming immune to damage for a few seconds, each perk deck provides a boon to the team in its own unique ways.

Starter items
You 3 starting items, each leaning into a specific playstyle.
Got trouble? taser the guy and make a quick getaway while he's figuring out what happened!
Ranged preference? load a tranq dart in your crossbow and put those adults to bed for real!
Prefer climbing? Utilize the grappling hook and find interesting alternative routes or if circumstances call for it, just throw it at an enemy to make them stumble.

Field Items

Items are a vital part of your playthrough, scattered in houses throughout the map, found in hidden shops scattered in the town, no item is truly useless, from the humble bandage and energy bar to flashbangs and tripwire traps, each one will help you progress your investigations further.

The Blackout Club does incorporate dark souls style invasions that can be opted out of.

However "winning" is less about defeating the 4 heroes and more about gathering evidence of their misdeeds which will show up on a leaderboard with the tops of the leaderboard getting a unique jacket or shirt depending on their position,

Each "sin" you document increases how alert the adults become, directly filming players is risky as every sin you document alerts the players with a text message but direct filming will draw nearby enemies to the players and you may get noticed by a certain voice....

1.) only buy this on sale, it is not worth $30 considering it isn't being updated anymore.

2.) this game had so much potential and it physically pains me it never got the chance to live up to said potential. my friends and I discovered this game 4-ish years ago, just after the devs had moved on from it. it sucks they only gave it a year and a half before dropping it, because the concept and lore is fantastic.

you play as a group of kids who live in a town that's been targeted by mysterious society- your friends are going missing, and none of the adults seem to care. strange gods reach out to you at night, and you're able to form alliances with them as you try to thwart the evil that threatens your home.

the gameplay is fun and unique, and is mainly stealth-based with a focus on using gadgets to navigate several maps and completing objectives to clear missions. it's a good game if you can catch it on sale, but you can't help but mourn what could have been if the devs kept up with it.

I remember being extremely drawn in by the tutorial, but the gameplay loop lacks that tension and quickly becomes monotonous. I booted this game up again to play with friends, and after a few runs, we were already bored of exploring the same chunk of map over and over again, progressing towards some nebulous goal. You level up at a glacial pace, and it takes entirely too long to unlock the other half of the town.

There are interesting concepts, but the game seems to have been abandoned. Not worth $30 at this stage.

The game is dead now, but even in its prime it had some... issues. The best part of it was the devs could sort of invade your game as the various "totally not gods" and affect the lore and move the story forward. The problem was... they only really ever did it to big name streamers and favored people in their communities and most people never got to engage with that.

The story is "completed" and the devs have moved on and what is left just isn't enough to really keep the fires burning.

Would not recommend this game. WAY too overpriced. I wouldn't spend more than $10 max for this (I only paid $2.69 for a key). $30 is outrageous for the content in here. Game just feels awkward to play and not smooth at all; engine feels clunky. Plus, dev team stopped updating it 4+ years ago, and there is no support for mods, so just let it die.

Sad to say I am genuinely disappointed in the amount of money wasted to play this, not be able to refund and have the devs call this a completed game.
This had so much potential to be a better game. Even if you have one one or two people to play with this game still feels so bland and empty in the later stages.
Also $45 in cosmetics is such a gouge at this point of the dead state of the game, they should be given for free.

Jugamos de a 3, y a las pocas horas los 3 terminamos desinstalando el juego.

El juego funciona bien, el multiplayer tambien, pero lo que no funciona bien es la diversión.

Empezás manejando un grupo de adolescentes, que usan habilidades o armas de niños (casi de juguete), esquivando enemigos con movimiento bastante robótico, en un vecindario cerrado, sin mucha vida. Los vecinos son como "sonámbulos" y ese es el mayor peligro del juego, vecinos sonámbulos.

Hay juegos de terror similares, donde si bien no hay tanta diversión en gameplay, terminas cagandote de risa con tus amigos. En este nisiquiera sucedió eso, así que probablemente esté enfocado para otro publico... supongo que es algo hecho para toda la familia (ATP), sobretodo para los mas pequeños (donde los papis no quieren que su hijo vea sangre, armas letales, ni la realidad). Aún así no me termina de cerrar la idea de hacer un juego de terror ATP, pero parece ser que resulta ya que tiene buenas ventas.

A very cool premise and implementation of a stealth-horror game. An unseen predator following you around is pretty dang cool. Espescially with a friend it is pretty entertaining. UNfortunaelty as far as I know, a big part of this game was developers interacting with the game and community. The game though is dead, so these extras simply don't exist. It is still enjoyable but as others already pointed out too pricey. 10-15 bucks though would be fair I think.

While i like what this game has to offer; it was left for dead.
Quite a shame, but what can you do about it.
Unless they by some pure miracle decide to invest into new updates and area releases- i do not think it is worth playing for so many hours.. Especially at the price its at.

I love this game so much; very underrated; sadly it is dead. The story is very intriguing, the game play is fun, and models are goofy, its great. Never seen an eyes closed mechanic in a game before its super cool.
Would 100% encourage more players.

Игра очень хорошая, нравится сюжет, геймплей и еще кучу возможностей.
Единственный минус игра становится заброшенной, в буквальном смысле. Игроков почти нет, хотя нет их вообще нет, скорее всего после 2021 года все пошло коту под хвост.
Я не понимаю как такой проект мог быть заброшен, по записям из 2018 я понимал что с тобой буквально разговаривали разработчики, отвечая на вопросы лора игры и вообще могли оставлять тебе послания в самой игре (в качестве игровых богов разумеется).
Мне очень больно осознавать что такой проект в конце концов остался заброшенным. Я до сих пор захожу в данную игру иногда чтобы почтить память этой игре, а также оставляю вопросы разрабам (богам) надеясь что они однажды меня услышат.
Я бы отдал все чтобы данный проект возродился вновь.

The Blackout Club is a testament to the potential idea that one can be invisible. As I run from house to house, I am not only filled with sheer terror and dread, but I am also intrigued that the man who seeks to end my beloved life, has something no one else has, physical transparency. I am awe struck by the sheer feat in which he is but I also wonder, did it come at a cost. Did the invisible, delusional, scary, intrusive, and maybe even crazed man, at one point have a simple and normal life. Was he once a beloved father, with an amazing wife, and three lovely children he loved oh so dearly? Perhaps, he was living the life of his dreams before he was swept into the intriguing yet terrifying unknown...perhaps we will never know. Good game though! Would recommend!

Devs refuse to deal with a player who is hacking into lobbies. I don't care how "dead" the game is, if players are still playing? Then it's not dead enough and you need to deal with it. Makes it unplayable with friends, as even if you have that mechanic turned off, the player can still get into your game.

since i dont have much to say about this game i'll give you the good and the bad:

the good-

1.) the game is a pretty interesting stealth based roleplaying game and has a unique vibe as compared to other games in the genre.

2.) the enemies you find in this game are interesting and have unique mechanics.

3.) there is a surprising amount of lore to be found in the game and you are incentivized to play the game in order to find it since you find it through natural progression.

-----

the bad:

1.) playing with friends makes no difference, it is just not a fun game.

2.) there is a very, very limited amount of enemies and locales to see.

3.) the gameplay is dull and doesnt offer much substance aside from a few game specific mechanics and roles.

4.) the customization options are dreadful, i mean its absurdly bad.

5.) if the big bad guy, "the shape" gets sicked on you too early, you pretty much just die and cant really avoid it even in a big group.

6.) reviving your "asleep" friends is extremely annoying considering the strange pathing that every single enemy ai uses in the game.

7.) the borders of the map arent done in the usual way of just being an invisible barrier or a holo-shield type thing, no instead it is a line of stacked tv's that play an annoying sound around the entire map. its an eye sore.

8.) most of the roles are just useless.

overall: id give this game a 2-3/10 and thats with friends that are deliberately trying to have a good time. i dont recommend this game unless youre someone who just likes crappy games.

This game was never good.
It had this whole "Your part of the story" thing and what we did effected the way the game's story would go.
The problem was at no point did we ever get any piece of the story or interact with anyone that controlled the story.
All of the "Events" and story behind this game are now lost because it wasn't covered by anyone.
So if you missed it, you missed it and it's not there anymore.
There were "Gods" which were just the devs you could talk to in the game through some complicated ritual thing and if you were lucky they'd answer you, unfortunately no one covered this no one recorded these events and no one in the content creator community covered this stuff so we were all left in the dark about everything and then the "Story" ended.
So not really a great game, an interesting experiment but actual story coverage and someone who can keep the lore up to date would have helped so much more.
I was committed to this game at one point but got frustrated and gave up.

I do not recall ever dropping a game after 2 hours because it's been so boring.

This game has nothing. I wanted to play with my co-op crew, and the game is such a grind that it is unbelievable. Basically, progressing to new missions require a certain level, and to reach a level you have to grind each mission over and over again, and you just need more an more levels for each new mission (and there are only 4 missions in total).

Very bad game IMO, very boring, and it also has a fair share of bugs.

Подружился я с этой игрой очень поздно, буквально в тот же миг как она решила умереть! Мне жаль, что я не застал её рассвет и даже закат, ведь я как настоящий член Blackout Club появился ночью, в миг её закрытия. У игры был и даже остается огромный потенциал. Можно верить в глобальный перезапуск, но это лишь мечты.

Blackout Club замечательный хоррор с таинственным сюжетом, пугающей атмосферой и генерируемыми заданиями, что делает каждую миссию почти неповторимой. Красивая графика и потрясающие локации позволяют чувствовать себя член клуба и бояться любого шороха.

К несчастью игра умерла. Сервера пустые, игроков нет. Однообразные задания начинают надоедать, играть без друзей вообще невыносимо. Со временем желание играть тихо пропадает, в конце-концов начинаешь бегать как угорелый выполняя все задания, ведь так-таковые противники очень слабые.

Покупать игру не советую, ведь она мертва, хотя если бы разработчик изъявляли желания её обновлять, то всеми руками и ногами — да!!!

Honestly, would love to play it again. My favorite co-op game. Unfortunately no ones playing it anymore, and my friends are not interested. It was fantastic at its peak, but it's been long forgotten.
