[i]We play as two different characters going through the events of the game at the same time: Dr. Madeleine Stone who lost her medical license due to conducting an experiment that wasn’t all so legal, now finding herself in trials for a job-offer at The Assembly and Dr. Caleb Pearson who is already employed at The Assembly but has second thoughts about their morals so he goes to investigate and collect evidence for whatever truth he’s going to find.[/i]

[list][*]This game is basically a walking simulator with some puzzles thrown in but the story kept me interested enough to keep going and the endings were decent - but don’t expect anything grand or special or you’ll be disappointed! ([i]Personally I liked the “bad” ending better than the “good” one. It was the “morally more correct one”… but that’s personal preference![/i])
[*]I liked the female MC’s personality. She accepted her fate but also never let a chance slip by to make a quick stab at her captors. Also for me personally she wasn’t obnoxious, she was vulnerable in some situations and tried to be strong in others! ([i]something I rarely see nowadays, it’s always the boring boss babe attitude… Listen, I’m a woman but I can’t stand that one-dimensional lame character design![/i])
[*]The male MC was funny. Seemed like a nice guy but his voice was so monotone he seemed like he was simply tired of everyone else’s BS and just wanted his weekend to arrive to take a nap but somehow that made him likeable :’) He’s all of us on a monday morning at work.
[*]I do not want to spoil anything so I will simply put it like this: …they actually made it there? I was expecting them not to. That was actually a shocker. A positive shock. From the general outcome of games you do not expect them to make it x’D

[list][*]I mean, it gets explained lore-wise in-game but the world felt empty. Dr. Stone makes total sense since she is in trials so no one should be there but even if it is - as I said - explained in-game for Caleb it felt very empty as well… like, the moments where he conveniently slips past people, hearing them but not seeing or meeting them… I seriously got the feeling that was done more for not having to animate character models to walk by rather than immersion and such :’)

Je ne peux décemment pas lui mettre une mauvaise note mais c'est quand même un peu juste.
(Je l'ai joué sans VR, je ne peux rien en dire.)
Un peu juste en temps, 4h max, mais aussi un peu juste en choix cornéliens. Il n'y a guère que 4-choix vraiment moraux a faire, et c’est à la toute fin.
Les quelques énigmes sont faciles à résoudre et l'histoire est intéressante sur fond de pandémie de grippe aviaire mais elle mériterait d’être plus développée.
Un jeu a prendre quand il est en forte promotion.
C'est un petit 5/10 pour moi.
Je le recommande néanmoins car il est entièrement doublé en FR, et ça c’est top !! Même les tableaux d'indices sont traduis.

Considering the release date (2016) the game is pretty impressive. A decent point-and-click adventure game with a very good story and pretty visuals. However the game brings its serious problems:

1-the controls seems calibrated for the use with the old VIVE controllers. It still works on Quest controllers, but suboptimal.
2-the game doesn''t give you freedom to save the game. The game saves automatically only at the start of every chapter, and it's a terrible choice:
I must warn that corrupted save files can happen (with an extreme probability), so it pushes you to entirely replay the game from the start.

All considered, the game itself isn't bad. If you're willing to play all the game in one session (from start to the end without saving) you could try.

I played it 90% in VR and the last 10% in flat Steam version, because I feared the VR bugs could delete my saves. I finished the game with a sense of both satisfaction and frustration for all the problems of the app.
So I'd tell DON'T BUY THIS GAME... But if you choose to do it, you will have both a good and bad experience with it.
It's up to you.

I played this in VR only. It is a short game, and old, but still very interesting. I really dislike the fact that smooth locomotion is not an option, but since this isn't an action game that can be overlooked. Teleport movement works just fine. The graphics are decent, especially when considering it's from 2016. It seems there are likely multiple endings, so it has opportunity for replay. I just ran through it once so far though. The logic puzzles are not overly complex, and there are some choices to be made that I'm assuming will affect the epilogue dramatically. I guess I have to play again to find out!
Do to the very short length of the game (my first run was 3 hours), I suggest waiting for a sale.

Finished in about 3 hours and while it's not necessarily a BAD game, it's definitely not good. It's kind of just... boring. It has a compelling theme, if an overused one, but it doesn't have that theme do anything really interesting. The concepts of the two main characters and their interactions are also interesting on the surface, but they end up becoming just as bland as the rest of the game. Could be a really good game if more thought and intent was put into theme and character development.

Gameplay was nothing to complain about, about just as milquetoast as the rest of the game. seriously, every concept of this game can be summed up by "meh." The graphics, the voice acting, the puzzles, the worldbuilding. Meh.

Don't buy for full price wait for a sale.

Very slow boring game for 4 hours then 30 minutes of greatness that you wish the whole game would have been like. The game felt like a movie where it builds ups for the whole movie then the last 5 minutes its gets epic and leaves you on a cliff hanger i wish they mixed in more story in the beginning, feels like a game that could have been an hour with out the filler. The voice acting was really well done and overall worth a play-through if your looking for a casual walking sim. 4.5/10

L'histoire est intéressante et évoque pas mal de sujets de réflexion.
Les graphismes, ce n'est pas la claque, mais ça va.
Le son OK en général. Gros plus pour le doublage en français qui est plutôt bien.
Commandes : Ce n'était pas judicieux d'avoir mis le même bouton pour se déplacer et prendre => Beaucoup de déplacements parce qu'un objet n'est pas bien ciblé et c'est énervant. Pour le reste, les commandes répondent bien.
Quelques bugs de mouvement à travers les murs... (ça arrive...)
Il faut aussi savoir que la "sauvegarde" est entre chaque chapitre. Si vous arrêtez au milieu d'un chapitre, il faut le recommencer du début. Il est déconseillé de commencer un chapitre si vous n'avez que 30 mn pour jouer, vous devrez le recommencer du début.
Bref, un bon moment.

I would say it's the worst VR game I've ever played.
I know it's old VR game, but what's the sense to not showing hands to interact with the environment?!

I enjoyed this game. Was surprised to see all the negative reviews.

Granted I played on steam deck not VR but I found it to be an engrossing walking simulator with a good story and solid voice acting.

The fact all your decisions made throughout the game have an impact on which ending you achieve was cool.

Most of the puzzles were on the easy side but a few times I found myself lost without clues, turns out I was missing something right in front of my face which was kinda frustrating.

This is a short game, I beat it in 3 hours.

I wouldn’t pay the full price but on sale this is a decent walking simulator if you enjoy the genre

Ich bin durch Zufall auf dieses Spiel gestolpert. Ein VR Spiel aus der Anfangszeit von VR-Gaming. Die Steuerung ist dem entsprechend noch etwas ungewohnt (am besten mit Gamepad).
Das Spiel scheint nicht so häufig gespielt worden zu sein, liegt vermutlich an den relativ hohen Preis. 5 Stunden Escape-Game für 25 Euro sind doch trotz der guten Story, Grafik und netten Rätsel etwas viel. Aber im Sale auf jeden Fall zu haben.

Wir spielen in der Rolle von zwei Wissenschaftlern. Eine die kommt und einer der geht. The Assembly ist dabei eine sehr geheime Forschungseinrichtung für Biologie. Im Prinzip das für Biologie, was Aputure Science für Physik ist, was eigentlich schon viel über die Forschungsstation aussagt.

Ein tolles Adventure was eine Menge Spaß gemacht hat, gespielt mit WMR Samsung Odyessey Plus. Obwohl das Spiel von 2016 ist ist die Grafik OK, an die Steuerung kann man sich gewöhnen, mit Mode Controller ist freie Bewegung mit den Touchfeldern möglich aber sehr ungenau, die HP Reverb G2 Controller funktionieren nicht. Einzige Kritik das kein Zwischenspeichern möglich war und für einige Kapitel habe über 1 Stunde gebraucht und nicht immer hat man diese Zeit und es ist nervig wenn man ein Kapitel nochmal spielen muß .

Pretty good game overall. 6 hours playtime.
Story is fine , puzzles are not too difficult.
Does not really make use of VR controls being a early 2016 title .
Can be played seated with a game pad without losing anything of the experience.
Really detailed locations and good graphics.
Worth playing if you can get it on sale.

If you want a walking simulator with simple puzzles, but also some pixel hunting (finding folders and samples) then this is for you. Sadly no Index Controller support but you can play with mouse and keyboard, 2D. No point saying it has other controller support, I'm not about to buy different VR controllers. I don't have time for games where I've scoured everything, and cannot find one tiny thing that stops me proceeding, it's a dealbreaker. Made it 4 Chapters in before hitting a wall. Given what I've seen, it doesn't offer anything significantly interesting in VR beyond simply being in VR.

Habe das Spiel für ca. 9.- EU bekommen und für den Preis ist es ok.
Ich habe es ohne VR gespielt, daher kann ich über den VR-Modus nichts aussagen.
Die Grafik ist gut und die deutsche Übersetzung mit der Sprachausgabe perfekt.
Das Potential für dieses Spiel ist aber bei weitem noch nicht ausgeschöpft.
Die Geschichte und ihre Problematik ist interessant und auch gut angefangen.....nur
man fragt sich die ganze Zeit wann geht es nun richtig los......und dann ist schon Schluss.
Schade, .... ein Zweiter Teil wäre hier angebracht!
Es hat Spaß gemacht es zu spielen, aber für den derzeitigen Preis von ca. 25.- EU ist es zu teuer.
Für ca. 10.- EU kann ich es empfehlen.

Totally not for VR.
No motion controller support, you have to teleport everywhere, or walk by making ONE step per button pressed (?!)
No ability to interact with objects manually. If you want to open the door, you can’t take the handle and open it, you have to point at the door with the laser and press a button. If you want to take an object you need to, again, point at it, press the button, then it hovers above your controller and then disappears in your chest somewhere. You can’t actually “take” or “hold” anything.
The game itself is good, story is pretty engaging, but I expected more VR-oriented gameplay since, well… it supports it at all. This is the first time I see something like that in a VR game, and that was an unpleasant surprise. So unpleasant that I actually wanted to refund it, but decided to keep it for the story. I mean, no controller motion? No taking anything in your hand? Why bother making it VR at all, if even these things are not there? It simply kills the immersion completely, what's the point then? Like come on, even small and cheap games like Ok, Bob has direct object interaction!
So, if you are planning to play this in VR, my advise here is don’t. The experience will be annoying and disappointing.
Non VR users - wait till the sales and go for it, it’s not brilliant, but still pretty good.

Let me start this off by saying: This is a fantastic game. The storytelling is clear, the plot is good, and the characters are well developed. I played through this on VR, and despite the somewhat clunky locomotion in VR it was still a blast. But,it is a short gam, and there's not much beyond the story. Altogether, grab it on a discount or as part of a cheaper bundle, and it'll definitely be worth that. But $30 may be a bit much.

just stick with the 'VR control', and get use to it.
forget the 'game pad' option,
using game pad, you'll get stuck in 'microscope', unable to rotate the cell.

Keeps you mildly entertained for a short time. The credits surprised me. Other games like this are way better in story, world and gameplay fun.
I got it at a reduced price and sadly that was still too much. Really, don't.

- world makes not too much sense and feels very graphically dated
- No graphics settings, requires editing of unreal config ini.
- English voice acting is good. German voice not so good. Imagine your dad making up voices for a bedtime story
- Changing voice to english required a secret start parameter from the developer mentioned in the discussions.

It's quite pretty with fairly simple puzzles and seems fairly linear. It is quite short and there only seems to be a little bit of replayability [spoiler]I might go back and discover the other Adam options[/spoiler]

The controls are fairly well done and the story isn't bad. Feels a little odd that in a high security secret lab, almost no-one locks their PCs, they leave confidential files in plain sight and leave incriminating evidence on memo recorders but then the entire story is a little contrived!

I think it is worth the sale price but there's nothing hugely new or memorable in it.

(Vive) Начну с разочарования. Как же скучно. Как часто бывает в "историях" - куча монологов, записок, аудиозаписок, замечаний от первого лица по поводу каждого найденного предмета и просто мыслей вслух. Куча незнакомых людей с именами и фамилиями обращаются друг к другу то по имени, то по фамилии и пишут друг другу кучу писем. И их надо читать, там же коды и подсказки. Надоедает от игры к игре. На моей памяти только в The Station история, поданная таким образом, захватила, люди там казались реально живыми.
Также контроллы. Работают вроде нормально, но назначены, как-то странновато. Движение и взаимодействие оба на триггер, в зависимости от контекста, и попробуй отойди от мусорки, а не щелкай крышкой.
Тем не менее, игра большая, проработанная, многодетальная, красиво и тщательно сделана. Там есть движущиеся люди, и они тоже хорошо выглядят. Если не торопишься, можно вникать и размышлять.
*** Хорошо что доиграла сама и заглянула в дискуссии. Несколько концовок, интерес вернулся, ура!

A solid little story adventure. There's no action sequences or really anything all that exciting--just a nice science based narrative in an underground facility with a bunch of fun little twists. Puzzles are there but only a handful of them. They're not easy, and not hard. The voice acting was good. There was an objective system so I didn't get confused what I needed to do ever. This was a solid game! I wouldn't mind playing a sequel, they set it up for a good one.

Disclaimer: I only played the game in non VR mode.
This game was first a VR only game and I expected a poorly implemented non VR mode, but I was wrong, it was pretty good.
In fact the whole game is pretty good. It's mostly a walking simulator with focus on story and with some puzzles here and there. Really enjoyable game.
Just a bit stupid: I couldn't play this game in english, I guess because the game uses the language of your steam account. But that wasn't a problem, as the german voice actors are doing a surprisingly good job, I guess same as the english ones from videos I saw.
Only the price is a bit high, wait for a sale.

I give up. I really wanted to like this game, but the autosave system is worthless. It saves once per chapter... which if you're a completionist like me, might take you 20 minutes. So, combine a save once every twenty minutes with a buggy game that can't tolerate losing your headset and you're going to find yourself repeating entire levels... A LOT. it's happened to me no less than 4 or 5 times.

Almost to the end of a level and I accidentally teleport into a wall... game freezes.... crashes... and I'm back at the start of the chapter.

My Vive wireless battery goes dead... normally not a big deal with most games. Pop on a new battery and your back in business with most games pausing and letting you jump right back in. Not this one, you lose your audio, completely... no way to recover without restarting the game. 15 minutes into a level and I'm left with no audio or way to load a recent save.

It's not like the game is all that challenging.... why isn't there a more frequent save system? Maybe save with every collectible I pick up? Save with each minor accomplishment within a chapter. Or, sin of all sins, let me save my progress on demand.

First off as a heads up, I am playing this game using an Oculus Quest headset running Oculus Link on my PC. All PC specs meet or exceed requirements for VR. I wanted to play this game using VR so I did not try it out in non-VR, although it appears that it would be more enjoyable in playing without VR. I'm looking for titles that will allow me to justify my VR purchase so that it will get used and not just become a novelty gathering dust in a closet. I am a longtime player of graphics type adventures games, (Former Sierra On-Line employee). I purchased this game as the premise looked very promising. Unfortunately, movement in the game is very slow and navigating around in the environment is cumbersome at best. Also, the lack of instructions in respects to moving around in the game doesn't help. What it takes 5 minutes to accomplish in VR could easily be done in 30 seconds in non-VR using a mouse/keyboard. Game play in VR should be easier and more intuitive than using a mouse and keyboard, such as it is with games like Vader Immortal. Examples of issues I encountered: when you are playing as Pearson and the game suggests that you answer the phone, I spent 10 minutes trying to find the phone finally realizing there was no handset. Answering the phone shouldn't be a puzzle. The next issue I encountered was in trying to put the sample under the microscope, I retrieved it from the fridge, but somehow dropped it and it disappeared, which means you can't complete the next step. The vial should have either shown up on the floor where it could be picked back up or reappeared back in the fridge. It is a great effort on the part of the company and maybe I'll try it again at a later date when I have more experience with VR, but as of right now it 's too slow and cumbersome to justify my time, (especially the time) and money. Refund requested.

Amazing single player VR adventure. You play two characters that occasionally switch roles in a way that is not disturbing and keeps you focused but allows you to refresh your mind every so often. The puzzles are good, narrative excellent! And I really enjoyed the moral dilemmas.

The control scheme is a little unorthodox and the sound system sometimes allows you to hear sounds that you are far away from (like the newtonian balls in the ADAM room after you have left it). But these are just minor criticisms, I really enjoyed this.

"The Assembly" is a short first-person adventure with an interesting story, mild puzzles and moral dilemmas, crisp graphics, and excellent voice acting. It can be played in VR or as a regular non-VR game - this review is meant for the latter, as I do not have the equipment for the former.

The story contains two alternating plots that barely intersect, both focusing on "The Assembly", a secret group of brilliant maverick scientists who do self-funded research without governmental control or supervision. One plot revolves around a scientist who has been "invited" to join the group, but needs to solve trials to prove herself - these start with simple logical puzzles, and then turn into moral dilemmas to explore her personality. The second plot follows one of the scientists in The Assembly, who discovers that something is going dangerously wrong, collects evidence, and tries to flee and inform the authorities. Both plots touch on the ethics, chances, and risks of scientific research and progress. While neither goes very deep, these topics kept the game interesting and engaging for me. Some of your choices affect the ending of the game, and you can later revisit single chapters to make a different choice, see a different ending, or search for collectibles that you may have missed.

Many puzzles require a bit of thought and an eye for spotting relevant information in the environment, but they remain easy throughout the game. They succeeded in keeping me engaged without distracting from the story - this game is obviously intended to be immersive rather than challenging.

Graphics are crisp and fitting for a facility that mostly consists of various laboratories, offices, and a few living rooms. Sound effects are okay, though the game sometimes processes them in a weird way - start to play with a Newton's cradle in one room, and you can still here its clacking noise 50m away and through several walls. The voice acting stands out for its exceptional quality, the actors have interesting voices and deliver their lines very believably.

Unfortunately the game insists on WASD movement and does not feature key remapping. I wouldn't consider this a dealbreaker since you never need to move precisely or react quickly, you can get by with just using the forward key and the mouse. But it's definitely annoying that such a basic and for many players important QoL feature was overlooked.

I recommend the game to players who like story-driven adventure games without action elements, and who like to think about the risks and chances of science. However, the price seems a bit high for the amount of content it offers, especially if you have no use for the VR version. I'd suggest to get it on a sale.

4h long easy puzzle game. Nice translation even textures are translated into German. I want to give the game for the good story an up. It is a story of 2 researchers and a secret cooperation the Assembly. One will escape the other is in the job interview. Moral dilemma and typical philosophical Questions included.

For the flatgaming it would be an up vote, but I bout the game for VR and it’s not good with VR. The HUD will display the room names and speaking character names fixed to your view in point you can not read comfortable. The pickups and item holding is the same like the normal gameplay so you can not pick them up to look at them. No items other than the pickups are intractable so the world is very boring in VR. Each of the levels are separated by a loading screen so you will spend some time in a vid space. Movement and interacting is done with the same button, so you want to interact but move around. It is not nice to play in VR. Sad but for VR it is a thumb down.

A short and simple game with a story that bases itself upon moral ambiguity, but touches other tough topics like artificial intelligence and corporate science. It's not demanding, the puzzles are very simple and the story takes only a couple of hours to complete, but the story is nonetheless rich and thought-provoking.

i am suprised by the negative review with performance issues i am experiencing none. The assembly is what i call an atmospheric game. Sure some of the puzzles are simple, but they are well done and unique. Where this game shines is in its story and asthetics and holds up as a tripple A game.
i wonder if it is an oculus thing with peoples experience with performance or maybe under speced pc's

The presentation, graphics and gameplay here are absolutely excelent. However, this kind of game sinks or swims as a result of the qualiy of the story. And the story is not great. It might be just the choices I made, but the two characters here don't really intersect in a meaningful way, which creates a disjointed experience. Worse, I didn't really care what happened to them becuase the script / acting alienated me with its melodrama. Worse still, A lot of the story doesn't hang together and doesn't make any sense.
So, devs, the lesson: if you are going to spend this much on a "narrative" game, hire someone competent to write the script.

The atmosphere and aesthetic really do help with immersion and they result in a good combination to get easily sucked into the game. If only there was hotkey to skip dialogues when replaying it... Nobody's perfect.

A fun, low-key, story-driven game that makes a good use of the VR medium. The pace is a little slow, but the world feels really big and immersive, the puzzles are fun, and the game pushes you to make some ethical judgments that had me a little teary-eyed in my headset. By the end, it's hard not to get sucked in. There are multiple endings, and you get to compare your choices and game stats against those made by other players.

The one real con for me was that the controls (playing on the HTC Vive with controllers) were a little funky and hard to get the hang of whenever I hopped back into the game after a long break, but I wouldn't say this was a big detractor from the game overall. If you're looking for a good story-driven VR game, this is worth a look.

Des heures de plaisir! Jeu intéressant et différent. Il faut prendre le temps de comprendre la manipulation des manettes et après, ca va relativement bien. Autre bémol, le son des voix n'est pas constant, il faut rester immobile à l'endroit où le son est le plus fort pour bien comprendre. Malgré ces petits inconvénients, le plaisiir à y jouer pendant des heures l'emporte!

The only thing worse than the glitches in this game is the save system. The only thing worse than the save system is when it harasses you in tandem with the glitches. Got stuck at the end of chapter 10, and found myself unable to leave. None of the (extremely tedious) progress was saved. I left the game for a while and came back to it today. Now the audio gets turned off when I try to adjust the levels from the system menu. This does not happen with any other VR game I own. The combination of unstable code and extremely bad design decisions makes this game unplayable. The puzzles are not enjoyable, the story is very poor, and the environment design is only very ocasionally interesting.

"The Assembly" war mein erstes richtiges VR-Game. Fand die Story ganz interessant und auch den Wechsel zwischen den beiden Protagonisten. Die Fortbewegung war zu Beginn gewöhnungsbedürftig, durch den ständigen Einsatz hat man sich jedoch nach und nach daran gewöhnt. Ebenso interessant waren die kleinen Entscheidungen, die man im Laufe der Geschichte treffen konnte, sowie die Rätsel und die Auswirkungen ihrer Lösungen. Außerdem gibt soweit ich weiß mehrere Enden, von denen ich zwei gesehen habe.

Habe mich wirklich sehr über das Spiel gefreut, da es noch nicht allzu viele storylastige VR-Spiele gibt und ich "The Assembly" einen wirklich gelungenen Versuch fand. Kann es jedem, der ein VR-Game mit Story spielen möchte, nur weiterempfehlen.

I've updated my review to not recommend this game. It's not bad but there are better narrative games out for VR now. Pick this up if you've exhausted the more well known ones.

Initial Review: I enjoyed this game. Good mix of narrative story and puzzler. Just wish it was longer. Movement style is teleportation only when I played it last (Vive with wands). I believe it also accepts controller input.

The developers put a lot of work into this, I can tell as I also work in the Unreal Engine.
For me, I enjoyed it very much. I am still not done the game yet but the story and environment captivated me.
This is a a slower paced game and, well... so what? It's a thumbs up for me.

But also some negatives. It is too addictive after playing for a day the storyline was completed. I will revisit the game to see for the small other things that are still discoverable.

I would really love to see a part 2. Same kind of story. With the same awesome graphics (I have run this game on a GTX960 and it was already spectacular). Same sound design etc.

I'm honestly kinda on the fence about this one. The description says "...a long-form game designed for VR" but the 'designed for VR' part doesn't always show.

For the most part, the objects in the games are proportioned correctly, so that's probably what a lot of the 'for VR' efforts went to (if you've ever played a 'flat' game with VR hacked in, a lot of times the scale of objects in the world is waaaaay off).

I'm under the impression this game was mostly developed before motion controls were 'a thing' - and that's why the motion controller support that was added is simply point-n-click (as in you point a laser point at a drawer, click, and the drawer slides open).

Either way, it's a pretty looking game, and the story is alright so far (I'm near the end, but not quite done with it yet - I'll probably polish it off this afternoon, actually...)

Using a HTC Vive with Xbox 360 Controller and without motion controllers this game is fun and immersive. It`s a "walking simulator" with an interesting story and great atmosphere. The story part reminds me on Portal and Half Life. The image quality and performance is good. I recommend this to fans of adventure games. On the technical side the game runs flawlessly. Also, the German translation and voice acting is professional and positive. To me this is one of my favorite VR games.

I wish Steam had a third option (neutral), instead of a yes or no recommendation. I would recommend this game only on a deep sale (at around $5 or less). I played and completed this game on the Oculus Rift on Steam in 5.7 hours with a lot of leaving the game playing in the background.

Pros:
Nice visuals
Easy puzzles/some are actually fun
Interesting concept
nice parts to the story
Very nice leaderboard at the end to compare yourself to other players (a very nice touch to this type of genre!)

Cons:
very tedious fetch gameplay (whether it's "discovering" passwords or finding a key)
some very boring puzzles
poor mechanics, poor POV in spots
teleporting everywhere
most of the story is drab, you have no reason to care for either of the characters you play, the AI is more interesting and it's got a very short narrative on the AI
your choices don't really matter
game crashed once, had to restart whole level, also had trouble starting on Oculus Rift (had to exit and come back to Steam for it to properly start)

Nuetral:
voice acting is okay
game ran smooth other than problems noted above
not too long or short
meh epilogue .. probably would have been better left to imagination
you can move forward but it's jagged (but at least the option is there, unlike other VR games!)

overall I would give it a 5/10

The Assembly von nDreams ist ein kurzes Adventure mit einer interessanten Erzählweise. Eine absolute Empfehlung!

The Assembly ist ein spannendes Adventure, ganz ohne physische Gewalt. Getragen von einer interessanten Geschichte, in der man in mehreren Kapiteln zwischen zwei Protagonisten hin und her tauscht. Man interagiert mit Computern und es gibt diverse Puzzle zu lösen. Es sind mindestens zwei unterschiedliche Enden zu erspielen. Das Ende, dass ich bei meinem ersten Durchgang gesehen habe, könnte für mich nach einem zweiten Teil aussehen .... aber das sind sicherlich nur Wunschgedanken.

Es gibt bisher nicht viele Adventure-Spiele dieser Art im VR-Bereich, dass dieses dann auch noch komplett in deutscher Sprache spielbar ist macht es fast schon zu einem Pflichtkauf. Die deutschen Sprecher sind sehr gut ausgewählt und klingen professionel. Endlich mal ohne Untertitel spielen zu können ist schön, zumal Untertitel in VR immer etwas störend sind.

Die Einführung in die Geschichte ist allerdings etwas irritierend. Der Spieler bekommt diese in der Egoperspektive erzählt und da der Protagonist dort in einem Rollstuhl sitzt, während man selbst steht, kann es vorkommen, dass man auch mal durch den Rolli durchläuft o.ä.

Die Grafik ist aber passend und man fühlt sich schnell im Geschehen. Es gibt leider ein Problem mit der Kolisionsabfrage von Wänden, dadurch ist es möglich durch Wände zu gucken, indem man seinen Kopf reinsteckt oder Roomscale ausnutzt. Allerdings kann man dadurch nur in andere Räume reinsehen, aber nicht mit Dingen dort interagieren. Das geht nur, wenn es auch "offiziel" Zutritt zu diesem Raum gibt.

Die Steuerung ist o.k.. Leider gibt es keine Free Locomotion per Pad, nur Teleportation und ein etwas unnützes Blinken. Da könnte noch nachgebessert werden. Spielbar ist die Teleportsteuerung auf jeden Fall und irgendwann merkt man das nicht mehr so sehr. Zumal man sich in seinem Spielbereich ja bewegen kann.

Die Interaktionen könnten natürlich, wie in jedem VR-Spiel, noch vielfältiger sein, aber das könnte dann auch nur von der Story ablenken.
Vorsicht vor Mülleimern - ich bin des öfteren an diesen festgehangen - besonders, wenn sie neben Türen stehen.

Aber nichts desto trotz ein hervorragendes Spiel!

The Assembly is a thrilling adventure game without any physical violence. Carried by an interesting story, in which you switch between two protagonists in several chapters. You interact with computers and there are several puzzles to solve. There are at least two different endings to play. The end I saw on my first run could look like a second part to me .... but that's surely just wishful thinking.

There are not many adventure games of this kind in the VR area, but the fact that this one is completely playable in German language makes it almost a must buy. The German speakers are very well selected and sound professional. Finally being able to play without subtitles is nice, especially since subtitles in VR are always a bit annoying.

However, the introduction to the story is a bit irritating. The player is told the story in ego perspective and since the protagonist is sitting in a wheelchair while you are standing, it can happen that you walk through the wheelchair or similar.

But the graphics are appropriate and you quickly feel you are in the action. Unfortunately there is a problem with the colliding detection of walls, so it is possible to look through walls by sticking your head inside or using roomscale. But you can only look into other rooms, but not interact with things there. This is only possible if there is "official" access to this room.

The controls are ok. Unfortunately there is no Free Locomotion per pad, only teleportation and a somewhat useless flashing. This could be improved. The teleportation control is playable in any case and at some point you won't notice that much anymore. Especially since you can move around in your playing area.

The interactions could of course be even more varied, as in any VR game, but that could then only distract from the story.
Beware of trash cans - I often get stuck on them - especially when they are next to doors.

But nevertheless an excellent game!

If you like first-person exploration games with a slight touch of puzzles, this may be worthwhile when on sale. Otherwise, it'll probably feel lacking. It's not a Myst or Obduction or Talos or Quern. It's more like Firewatch, where there's not many puzzles and it's more about taking in the atmosphere and story than it is exploring worlds and solving puzzles.

The game is essentially wandering around a few different floors of a secret research facility. There are a few puzzles, but not many, and they're not difficult either. Most of the gameplay is akin to wandering a floor, finding a key in a locker or a passcode on a computer, then using that to enter an area that was previously locked.

The game has an interesting theme but played more like an interactive story than a first-person puzzler.

The Assembly is an adventure game with a modern day storyline.

You alternate between two different characters’ story paths: A research scientist who works at The Assembly, and an applicant who is being tested by The Assembly. You take turns playing each character as the plot thickens and their stories converge.

Throughout the game you’ll be engaging in puzzles, item hunting, and moral choices. I think this game was originally made for flatscreens and then later adapted for VR, because you use the motion controllers like laser pointers whenever interacting with objects. But I actually don’t mind that in this game, since you’ll be searching through a lot of cabinets and containers looking for items and clues, and the laser pointer control scheme helps speed that up.

This was one of the first VR adventure games I bought, and I have a real soft spot for it. The voice acting is exceptional, all of the character performances feel genuine and I feel involved in each of their stories.

And even though the story exists in the world of scientific research, I could follow along with the plot and was able to understand everything that was going on.

I’ve played through this game 3 times, I find it a lot of fun, it’s one of my favorite adventure games. The first time I played this it took me almost 5 hours to beat.

The regular price is $30, but it routinely goes on sale for $15.
If you like narrative adventure games then I highly recommend it. It’s a real hidden gem.

Do not buy this game. First, the game is super buggy and freezes or crashes frequently. All of my other VR games run without issue so i know the problem is not on my side. In addition, the game is simply not fun. While the voice acting is decent and the graphics are good it seems like the developers never asked themselves the question - Is this game actually fun to play? Unless you are extremely new to VR and just want some pretty environments to look at i would recommend staying away from this one and spend those hard earned gaming dollars on more deserving titles.

Also mir hat dieses Spiel Spaß gemacht, vor allem weil es auch sehr gut komplett in Deutsch ist.
Vor allem ist dieses Spiel mal komplett fertig und kein early access, die man kauft und dann nur noch homöopathisch weiterentwickelt wird.

Leider ist die Spielzeit mit fünf Stunden, die ich trotz langsamer Vorgehensweise nur brauchte, zu kurz.

Das einzige was ich verwirrend fand ist, dass ich einmal die männliche Person und dann mal wieder die weibliche Person im Wechsel spielen musste.

Auf jeden Fall kann ich das Spiel empfehlen und bereue den Kauf (15€ im Angebot) nicht.

I'm surprised this game has so many good reviews. The story seems like it has a lot of promise as you go along and I expected some sort of epic finale after all the endless exploration, build-up of the story (which got way more convoluted at the end without much added interest or real conclusion to the main storyline) and annoyingly simple puzzles, which were also very few and far between, bookended between repetitive and pointless exploration of endless dull offices. Makes VR uninspiring and requires an eye-straining amount of play. A waste of time.

I bought this at the sale price of approximately $17.00, reduced from $29.00. Movement controls were nice, not many keys to learn about. The puzzles were mostly reasonable, leaning toward not very hard, and I liked that. I had to resort to a walkthrough once when I became stuck due to a silly mistake on my part.

I finished the game in 5 hours. The graphics were nice and the story line was good. I would recommend the game unless you prefer difficult puzzles. Your character in the game alternates between two people, and the story has a moral without any weapons. Oh, and i did not play the game in VR.

So I'll give it 3 stars out of 5. It was fun, but still overpriced. I think $15.00 would be a fair price.

Its a narrative heavy adventure title that alternates between 2 playable characters, with puzzles around but they are not generally too hard except the last one.

There are readings to be made, especially in the emails for clues. The game length last more than few hours, with more than 1 endings. Its rather well made but its pretty obvious that this is a retrofitted VR game, as there's no motion control feature. You move around by teleportation, and you interact by aiming and clicking the trigger button.

There's no action at all. If you want a narrative heavy adventure title then yes you can consider it.

Great game, In a world of games with little depth for the vive this one has a really interesting story.

It starts off a bit slow , I actyually lost interest until I did the first trial, and saw how the story was going to unfold. It is also something you can sink 6 to 8 hours on without repeating any content, which is super rare on the vive right now. This game is really wortht he 30$. if you want and there are multiple endings.

Pros:
-great length especially for vive game. not too long or short.
-Fully voice acting, really good job
-multiple endings based on choice
-Story is not too difficult to follow while still being told in an interesting way.
- The puzzles keep the game interesting and flesh out the levels
- movement system good for people prone to nausea

Cons:
-Puzzles are pretty simple, but hey, at least you dont have to exit vive to look up answers
-All of the human models are like 4 feet tall what was up with that?? They look like dolls from the proportion
-Game advertises making choices, which you do, but many of these choices only arise very late in the game.
-Lighting could have been better (not big deal)
