Lamento no poder recomendar este título. A pesar de haber sido lanzado hace varios años y de seguir recibiendo actualizaciones, cuenta con carencias profundas que lastran la experiencia. Tengo entendido que el estudio ha dejado el grueso del peso en la comunidad; valientes son aquellos usuarios que perseveran y se hacen cargo de mantener vivo el proyecto ante un soporte oficial que se siente distante.

En un principio, la interfaz y la distribución visual resultan atractivas, al igual que las animaciones de introducción. Sin embargo, tras unos pocos clics, la sensación se torna insatisfactoria: el juego se siente vacío e incómodo. La inmersión se rompe constantemente; los diálogos no transmiten emoción ni logran adentrarte en la situación, y la música suele desaparecer, dejando paso a muestras de sonido que no encajan con la atmósfera pretendida. Si bien el juego logra concretar una identidad estética propia, la ambientación se queda a medias. El diseño sonoro es, quizás, el punto más flojo: faltan muchísimos efectos y el sonido de las armas es genérico, sin lograr conectar con el usuario. No se sienten sólidas ni consistentes; hay mucho que pulir en cuanto a precisión y daño. Como punto positivo, destaco el reemplazo del cuerpo a cuerpo por una onda expansiva para bloquear ataques y la posibilidad de mejorar estadísticas durante la partida.

La optimización es deficiente. Incluso utilizando DLSS (en perfiles de Calidad o Rendimiento) a una resolución 1080p, los fotogramas no son estables ni alcanzan tasas competitivas. El uso de la CPU se dispara inexplicablemente en situaciones de total tranquilidad. Visualmente, el título debería ofrecer mucho más considerando el estándar actual. Asimismo, las animaciones y el pathfinding de los mutantes requieren un trabajo urgente.

Un punto crítico es que los mutantes especiales no logran concretar una identidad sólida. Por ejemplo, el enemigo que debería cumplir el rol imponente del "Tank" de Left 4 Dead no logra transmitir peligro; se siente torpe y su IA es errática, lo que empeora notablemente el encuentro. Su diseño no conecta con la atmósfera y termina sintiéndose como un enemigo genérico "del montón", restándole peso a la tensión que debería generar un título de este género.

Lo rescatable es la capacidad de personalizar al personaje, la opción de hostear servidores locales y el Steam Workshop, que hoy es el pilar que sostiene al juego. En cuanto al diseño de mapas, cumplen visualmente pero no logran conectar con la narrativa; no transmiten esa inquietud o inseguridad necesaria, resultando en escenarios sombríos pero que a veces se sienten vacíos de propósito.

Falta muchísimo trabajo por hacer. Me gustó la idea de mutantes que dificultan la visión, pero no compensan las fallas generales. No puedo recomendarlo cuando existen entregas mucho mejor pulidas por el mismo precio o incluso menos

When I first saw one of Tyler McVicker's video, I was captivated by all the retrofuturistic beauty this game had to offer. I tried it out back when it was in Early Access and on Xbox Game Pass (which was still cool back then compared to today). Since it comes from the creator of the Left 4 Dead franchise, there was a lot of hype surrounding it and plenty of people to play with. However, if you look at SteamDB today, the game is only kept alive by a handful of people on weekends, which really hurts playability across all multiplayer sections.

That said, The Anacrusis isn't completely unplayable. You can play the campaign in a private lobby with bots; it has 5 episodes and takes about 2 hours to beat. Honestly, it would have been better if the game had more campaigns, as I suspect that is exactly why so many people walked away from it.

I'm glad I got to play the game, but I'm also disappointed because it could have been something more.

A good L4D type of coop/versus game. The enemies are identical or analogous to L4D.
The dialogues at the start of the episodes are pretty entertaining. During the game, characters will sometimes comment on the environment to provide background story.

One cool thing is game customization. You can give yourself infinite ammo, set the amount of special weapons spawns. it will quickly become too easy or too hard, but it's always nice to be able to tinker with gameplay.

Some of the levels are a little repetitive, walking through the same corridors. But there are also memorable ones, like going through the park full of grass and flowers with infinite horde.

The game is not very populated. I only managed to find a public game once, on a Sunday I think.
There's a Discord server where they play a Versus game every week with a full team, but note they play at around 4 AM GMT.

So, definitely wait for a sale and make sure you have a friend to play with, or join the Discord if you're in the correct time zone.

Souless l4d2 clone. At first glace the game looks kinda cool with its futuristic setting but the more you dive in the more you'll notice how bland it is. Also, playing it with bots it's such a pain, they either get stuck somewhere, rush into the middle of a hoard or try to save someone and end up on the ground instead. Though, sometimes the bots work perfectely fine. I assume if you have friends to play it with, it's a day and night difference. The game can be easily found for 50 cents on grey markets so for that price it's worth giving it a shot. Maybe you'll like it, sadly, I didn't.

Visually this game looks so good. I don't mean it has the best graphics, but I mean the design, the atmosphere, the settings, the flair. It has such a hip sci-fi vibe that really makes me wish for this game to succeed.

I have to admit though, I made a mistake and perceived the game as a CoD zombies clone similar to Sker Ritual but in space, rather than a L4d clone. It's not the games fault, it's what i wanted it to be, when I saw development footage and trailers.

The game feels like it has a great fundamental base, but is missing the content, the depth, the fine tuning. I expected it to be a CoD-like round based survival game in a sci-fi setting, with unique weapons and customization, mini quests with rewards, easter eggs, mini bosses, grand Easter egg bosses, all this carried by an amazing mysterious story that keeps you hooked on what happens next. Instead this game is a L4D clone a la walk from A to B. Most normal guns felt too similar for me or maybe it's because gunplay in general didn't feel satisfying enough. Though the special weapons help the issue a bit, until you're out of ammo. Some special aliens are a copy from L4D, some are new, which is neat. The levels are too similar in my opinion. Not setting wise, but the gameplay gets repetitive after a while. I was playing and constantly wondered, why I should l play this over L4D. It's a clone, but it doesn't offer enough to stand out. Like I said the setting, the fundament, makes it special, but it hasn't been given more than walls and a door, a few chairs and a table. The rest of furniture is missing.

Again this is okay, because it's advertised as such, but I am just missing the replay ability. I wish I could give mixed review, because it's not what I wanted it to be. I give a thumbs up, because I still enjoyed the world that it plays in and want the devs to succeed.

Having played lot of L4D and a bit Back 4 Blood. This game sadly doesn't fit the bill. It really feels like a prototype game, it even has sound disappearing when lot of sounds play out.
[h2] Optimization [/h2]
Its optimization is rather questionable, when specials or lot of enemies spawn in, my FPS will spike really hard and freeze me. Even with my low end PC, i say this is a bad sign. Exactly the same as Back 4 Blood.
[h2] Enemy and Sound design [/h2]
The enemy design is not clear what it does. Given how the sound design is really abysmal; you really don't know what is happening unless you're seeing it with your eyes.
Common enemies attack have very short first strike animation and not clear footstep or sounds. Remember L4D? You would know exactly when a zombie was on to you or was about to attack you or if it was idle near you.

The same applies to the specials. They are no signs and only the bots helped by telling when someone was near. [b]How can you have a game without a sound design where split second decisions and FPS shooting is crucial? The whole sound design makes me give a big red card on this.[/b]
The brute should have been more of a boss enemy rather than a mini-tank of L4D or a nuisance. Sadly, the bots are weak against him since they don't retreat or stay too close to you when they fight him
[h3] Characters [/h3]
The characters themselves are lacking, you don't feel emotion in them. It is like they are robots or voiced by an AI. i seen this even in Back 4 blood. Everything they say is forgettable, only when you get hit, they yell "pulse pulse", warning the players to use their "shove".

I am heavily displeased how we are in the 2020s, and the friendly AI can't be ordered around, take special weapons and use them. We have to get mods to do that,which further shows how solo play is really neglected.

Ah yes, the pulse. Well, what I can say? Such tech should have been explained at the start of the first level to teach the players what is it and how to use it. Unlike the shove in L4D where it is obvious what it does; in this game, you don't know its radius and limits from first using it. Not only that, i see the pulse has a delay(after it has been used) when it gets used and [b]that is exactly why i hated the common enemies hitting you too fast. [/b]

There is nothing more to say really, it is a Back 4 Blood prototype than sticking its roots to L4D. And i don't mean literal design or style. i mean its simplicty and clear visual design(as well as audio). [b]I can't understand what is going on, who is who and where is that who. [/b]
It should have been for characters to speak more and give hints, some subtle hints like specific special enemies or what to do. But it is classic script, "we are going the right way through here" (not literal example)

[u]Fix the sound design, optimization and the visual design and maybe we have an actual game.[/u] Sound design is crucial as well as immersive or even funny banter between the player characters. My ears should be my second pair of eyes crucial as my own eyes.

Also, fix that boring UI, both game and especially the main menu. Having to take a whole minute to find how to make a lobby and then start a game. See? Even the main menus in modern game design have become obtuse

Really bad - just straight up Left 4 Dead but worse in ever way imaginable.

I read some of these reviews before and thought, "oh a Left 4 Dead clone could be refreshing in this day and age, even if it doesn't break new ground". No no no - think, shooting feels bad, audio doesn't really exist for enemies, level design is bland, objectives are unclear, game feels like an unfinished title from first time developers and you get more what is going on in this game.

I don't care how desperate for a Left 4 Dead successor you are, don't waste your time. Hoards are unfun ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to deal with, otherwise the zombies are painfully dumb and easy to deal with including the game's version of the tank special infected. Voice acting is some of the worst I've ever heard in a game. The characters are bland with no real personality, and it doesn't feel like you're actually part of a team working together to survive an apocalypse. The entire game lacks any real personality. Locations are boring and feel like mazes half the time, especially when you're in a level where every area looks the same. Gunplay and combat feel sloppy, and the physics and character animations are unnatural and stiff at times(the taunts and dances are scary af to look at). The game is just generally not very fun at all and kind of a miserable experience. I played this with my boyfriend, and, while we can usually still have fun with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game when we play together, co-op isn't enough to even find ironic enjoyment. Let's just accept that we will never get a L4D3 in any form and move on.

Un jeu qui as perdu tout ces joueurs, rien que dès la sortie et surtout pas finis. Même en V1 le jeu qui n'as jamais été réellement mis sous une version finale.
Aucun fond dans les dialogues, aucun sound design remarquable, mix au fraise et surtout des performances qui ne font que jouer plus que vous jouer au jeu.
Passez votre chemin car ce jeu est finis.

Même en cadeau, je n'ai pas apprécier.

Its alright, and has the "core" of what made games like L4D fun, really cool levels, fun artstyle and great workshop support and many interesting weapons/throwables, its fun to play with friends but, sadly the biggest issue for me was that it lacks any real impact and feel when fighting enemies, especially with some guns feeling and sounding weak, and the swarms animations being kinda "janky"

Enemy specials are a bit awkward too at times, especially grabbers and the really bright guys

I say its still worth getting on sale, and the workshop integration and many levels definitely makes it pretty replayable, and thank god for adding a voice wheel, probably my favorite addition in any video game, I love driving my friends crazy with laughs and screams.

The Anacrusis follows a well known concept: a Left 4 Dead style coop shooter where you advance through levels, with safe rooms in between, tons of enemies, different enemy classes and many weapons and items.
At first glance it sounds fun, but playing it feels like the devs just threw random pieces together and hoped it would work.

The animations are basic, the graphics are basic (20 years ago they might have been okay, I guess), and the game suffers from more or less annoying bugs here and there. Teammates floating in the air or standing on the sides of walls, enemies getting stuck on objects or in doorways…

Voice acting is flat and boring, guns feel weak (probably because they sound weak), and the environments are mostly empty, lifeless, or ugly. Rocks in particular look terrible and there’s almost no environmental destruction besides breaking a bit of glass.

Wayfinding can be confusing,

The music feels all over the place as well. One second it’s funky 70s stuff, then techno, then RTS ambient tracks, then horror game music. It makes the whole game feel like it has no theme.

I played only about 2.4 hours, but I was already bored enough to just uninstall the game.
And honestly, considering the game came out in 2023, I really don’t understand why it looks so ugly and dated.

With a different engine (from this century?), music that actually follows a consistent theme, a few bug fixes, more attention to environment design and detail, and voice actors who speak more than robotic one liners and don’t sound like they’re about to fall asleep, this could have been a really cool game.

Not like this, tho.

I bought Anacrusis for less than $2 and I still would not recommend it even at that price.

I'm sure this game started with the best of intentions but ultimately what you're paying for here is an unfinished product. It's short a couple of art and animation passes and there was even a point where the screen just goes white because it's missing whatever cutscene or sequence was meant to play there.

Even quality issues aside it has no new ideas of its own that move the genre forward, in fact it's inferior to the game it's based on in pretty much every way.

This game should have a very clear "EARLY ACCESS" sign hanging on it given the state it's in however I can't help think the developer is trying to re-coup any money it can just off the value of the fact it says"From the lead for Left 4 Dead and L4D2" on the store page regardless of the final quality (or lack thereof) of the product.

Similar to l4d but feels underwhelming. Understandably, the game is still in development but to have voice acted characters who barely speak to each other other than to holler enemy names at you makes the game feel hollow. Pair this with the unsatisfying gunplay and lack of rhythm to each section that makes l4d so satisfying and you've got a game that perhaps wasn't ready for release outside of dedicated testing groups.

Как бы это парадоксально не звучало, но я не рекомендую игру, но всё ровно поставлю Положительный отзыв только что бы поддержать продюсера игры, так как это первая игра от бывшего создателя Лефт 4 Дэд и я верю что в будущем у него может выйти проект лучше после того как он осознает ошибки релиза The Anacrusis.

А о самой игре сказать нечего, это literally Лефт 4 Дэд 1/2 только в которым изменился арт-дизайн на скай-фай 70-х и появились перки (что бесполезны) .

Игру можно купить только ради поддержки разрабы по скидке, пройти один раз и забыть

I bought this game when it came out and that was a massive mistake. It was absolutely not worth the $25ish I paid for it, but a lot of people trying to make Back 4 Blood content received it for free and at the time it looked fun and I was convinced it would be the next LFD style game for about a week. I was rarely able to queue when I actually got into the game, likely because the max player count probably never exceeded a couple thousand. When I did queue, the game itself was so bare bones that it was nearly impossible to get teammates who could figure out what was going on. There was no massive blinking light to indicate to the smallbrained amongst us where to walk without dying. I gave up and forgot about this game after 4 hours of attempting to finish more than the very first match I ever played.

Perfectly decent L4D-like. A shame more people aren't playing it. I checked the charts and sure enough there were a couple of active players online. We had fun. Very easy to get into, just jumped right into their campaign with no hassle. Game looked and ran well on my rtx 2070s. The game is mid. It's like Left 4 Dead but with a much lower budget and weapons that feel completely unimpactful, both in terms of how they sound and weapon impact. I'm typically lenient with games like this, no matter how clunky they are, because I like supporting indie developers, however I have recently discovered that the lead dev (Chet Faliszek) is a pissbaby who ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and whines about leftists on Bluesky for daring to criticize the Democratic Party and spent a year covering up their involvement in the genocide in Gaza, so I have run out of good will.

This is a review made with bitterness, yes, but it is also honest. This is a game that you want to enjoy, not a game that you actually enjoy. I bought this game a year ago, played it for an hour and a half, and was unimpressed, but decided to wait and see if its issues got fixed. I even convinced a friend to play it with me despite reservations, although it ended up falling to the wayside in favor of playing other, far more enjoyable games. Sadly, I think we are well outside of the refund window.

It is unfortunate for Chet that he cannot simply block reviews to hide them from people, as he likes to do with replies on Bluesky.

The Anacrusis is a fun 4 player co-op that honestly helped me out with my career in making custom maps & level design in general! This was one of my first ways of going into Unreal Engine and learning the tools, doing some awesome level design, and even making my own maps for The Anacrusis. There's a ton of new custom maps that are amazing, and the art-style of the environments are amazing, and all around the gameplay spaces that were designed are pretty freaking awesome.

The Stray Bombay community is a great place to hang out as well! It's active, and there's a ton of Game Nights going on, and you can join the discord to find other people to play as well!

All around the gameplay is fun, chaotic, and there's multiple difficulties you can play on to experience even more hordes and terror from the aliens. The perk system also offers variety in your play style so you can be a healing grenadier, or a blasting Anacrusis crew mate (which is my favorite style with the Blaster)

The Anacrusis, a game that got lost somewhere somehow. It has the bones of a great L4D style game. Just no meat or any other additions. I don't recommend the game at full price. However the game frequently goes on sale and its mostly 5$ and below. It's fun for the 4 ish hours you'll get from the "story".

It's quite interesting to see a game like The Anacrusis. Me and my partner were the only 2 people in the world playing this game yesterday. It made the game feel unique. Like you were exploring a lost relic. It's clear The Anacrusis
was meant to be something more. You can see that in bits of the story and the dialogue.

The Anacrusis is truly a one of a kind game. It's a bittersweet treat to see a game that had the potential and didn't quite hit the mark.

This game is not horrible, but it is not worth full price. The basic gun mechanics are fairly good, but the enemies really ruin this game. Common enemies make 0 noise so you sometimes will turn around with a horde on you from nowhere, and the special enemies are very annoying (the Flasher makes the game lag and everything either too bright or dark). Overall, if this game is on sale for $1-2 or bundled again it is probably worth getting, but do not get for full price or expect anything similar to Left 4 Dead or anything.

I'd only recommend this game if you get it in a sale or bundle. While the shooting was enjoyable, there just wasn't enough to hook me in. The levels seemed to blend together and there wasn't anything standout like a boss. On top of that, several of the game decisions were just baffling to me.

1. Enemies barely make any noise on their own, and you have to rely on other audio cues for hordes (which sometimes don't work)

2. The "Flasher" enemy that forces you to look at something uncomfortably bright in order to kill it.

3. Odd dialogue that sounds like pieces were recorded in isolation and stitched together.

It definitely wasn't bad, but I have no desire to play it again after beating the episodes.

Legit not even sure how this one ended up in my library, but here I am 20mins later.
So, that was terrible. Story wasn't even there, just kind of throws you in without warning and you start fighting.
Not sure why it asked for me to pick my "favorite character" and "second favorite character" when even playing with 3 AIs, it still didn't give me either one.
The combat is overly simplistic and kind of janky.
The graphics seem like something I'd expect from the 360 era.
Oh, and to boot, let's not forget the unnecessary alphabet soup pandering. 3 normal banners and twice as many lgbtqmnop ones.
Would love a refund, but literally don't even know how I got this. 3/10

The Anacrusis feels like someone's shoving a needle into my urethra, giving me a lobotomy, and stabbing me all at the same time while trying to drink liquid ass with barbwire wrapped around my tongue.

This game is absolute ♥♥♥♥ and I never want to play it again.

There are many other underlining issues that I can't even begin to address because this would turn into a novel.

Chet, this game is an embarrassment. How do you go from being a well-regarded and respected game developer -- having contributed in the conception of such titles like Left 4 Dead, Half-Life, Portal, etc. -- to now being someone who seems to have completely unlearned everything and created a game I would fully expect a beginner or junior-level game developer to make. I, and so many others, gave you and your team's game the benefit of the doubt. It was in its infancy, you and your team were experimenting, and promises were made that the game would look and play so much better as time went on. As the game has now entered its 1.0 release, it has become increasingly clear that you and your team were full of sh*t. The game is not fun. It looks awful and plays poorly. The performance is so inconsistent and weirdly taxing for a game that looks like it could run a phone. If this is what you and your team deem to be acceptable for a 1.0 release out of early access, I foresee your studio wont get very far. Somebody needs to step up and take responsibility and say, "This is sh*t, we need to make it better." I don't know if there's some sort of toxic positivity situation going on, where no one can fully speak their minds out of fear of retaliation over hurt feelings, or if this truly is just what you and your team consider to be good and fun, in which case, your studio is going to continue failing until you and your team take adequate time to reflect and reconsider the standard at which you and your team should be making games. I highly recommend people searching for a Left 4 Dead-like game look elsewhere. You will find nothing here but disappoint.

I really don't understand how this managed to get 70% positive reviews

Never plan to play in another language that isn't english. French for example, uses some garbage machine translation tool, buttons and options do not make sense so I immediately switched to english

The game looks like any basic amateur Unreal Engine project. The only thing it has for itself visually is the setting. 60's sci-fi is pretty neat, but this game doesn't make the aesthetic any favor.

There's absolutely 0 game feel, and that might be the 2nd worst thing about the game (the very worst thing is coming next). Water guns would feel more effective than whatever the game gives you. There aren't even particles when you shoot zombies, not even blood stains, they just start some dying animation or transform into a ragdoll and that's it, sometimes you don't even know when you've killed them, sometimes you get guns that seem to shoot fire shrapnels (I'm not even sure) that just suddenly despawn

The worst thing is the fact that the characters are very apparently using AI for their voices. This, or they're just Fiverr guys hired with very poor direction.
If it was just bad or mid voice acting, I'd be totally fine with that and gunfeel would have been the absolute worst thing, but characters talk as if they were playing another game.
A charger spawns ? They just say « Charger ! » with 0 intonation, 0 urgency in the voice, and they say the same thing all 3 at the time, reinforcing the sentiment that they are nothing but mindless bots (the AI is pretty bad too)

Idk how one could play Left 4 Dead and not immediately notice the difference. Back 4 Blood is a masterpiece next to that, granted it doesn't have the same budget so I'm not expecting this to have some groundbreaking AAA features.

But game feel and some form of voice acting should have been the bare minimum, there are cheap games that manage to do that properly, which is why I think the devs just didn't care enough about working on these aspects, maybe they didn't care enough about the game, idk.
At least they wrapped 1.0 ... but it genuinely feels like what I played in playtest/beta or whatever thing I played before its release a few years back. I guess they added "content" in the form of maps or campaign ... but why would I go through that if the moment to moment gameplay doesn't feel like anything at all ?

Once upon a time, I played an alpha version of Left 4 Dead - one that didn't have anything more than the core identity established. The Survivors didn't have their personalities, the music wasn't in, the level design was missing the trademark signposting, and there were a few other rough edges here and there. It was just four idiots with guns against the mobs, and while it was fun, sometimes you just had to guess where you were supposed to go and occasionally you wound up getting mobbed to death in a corner.

Those memories are what The Anacrusis reminds me of.

I gave it a shot and thought "good Early Access effort, give it another six months to cook and it'll be in good shape." Then, to my shock, I discovered that it had launched [i]over a year ago[/i]. Where is the polish? Weapons feel week because there's barely any hit response, enemies are jittery and buggy, resources spawn in floors or walls, horde events aren't well conveyed, almost everything is brightly lit and objectives are poorly telegraphed so it's ridiculously difficult to tell what's important or why.

It's a good start, but it needs to be more than just a good start. "Left 4 Dead with more weapons and build perks" was already done by Back 4 Blood.

选择创建房间开始游戏会送3个AI队友！
健康扫描仪每人只能带一个，有站点可以三选一增益，shift推开敌人，G试用手榴弹，鼠标滚轮/数字键切换武器，ai队友容易卡在楼梯下面或者拐角、商店门之类的地方。

有一个会全屏闪黄光的怪光污染的想骂街...
迷路时间久了会提示试试这条路...
物质生成内什么三选一增益技能站点可能藏在附近容易漏下。

黄色闪光怪太恶心了...我是谁？我在哪？我要干什么？闪光好长时间...
怪有很奇怪的倒地慢动作，倒地太慢了总想补枪...

能玩，但不好玩，建议出门右转求生之路...
