Игра которая призвана думать, считать и убивать время в космических масштабах, во всяком случае в самом начале. Мои руки до неё, наконец-таки добрались.

Какие минуса:
- Саундтрек - он тут походу один, либо остальные просто на заметны. Музыки надо бы больше.
- Обучение тут есть, как бы. Оно позволяет разобраться в самой основе, а вот дальше... проще было бы включить статьи про то или иное по игре в саму игру.

20+ часов наиграно, 4 раза начинал по новой, просто по той причине, что некоторые моменты и особенности вот вообще не понимаешь, об этом просто не написано (или я слепой. Та же верфь на планете! Думаешь, что она позволит строить? Ан нет - это ХАБ/Заправка, и ради того, чтобы это понять - пришлось дойти до сего момента, а после полезть к ИИ, чтобы понять почему не могу строить корабли).
Тут либо ошибка перевода, либо просто не подумали, либо я слепой (очки есть).
И придется начинать в пятый раз, поскольку нашел косяки и просто тьму ресурсов на ранних этапах игры спустил вот совсем не туда, куда надо было, о чем узнал 3 игровых года спустя.

- Нет очереди исследования! Как же я задолбался каждый раз выбирать проект, который надо исследовать, это просто словами не описать. Особенно когда есть бонусы под 40% на ветку, еще 20% на само исследование и около 50 очков науки в сутки (и этого крайне мало - хватайте США и Японию как можно раньше, если получится) с этого имеешь 80-100 исследований в день, а у тебя тьма проектов по 500-1500.
В результате каждые несколько игровых дней надо по новой выбирать исследование, пока конкуренты заняты чем-то массивным или внутренними исследованиями.
Если начинать в 2022, то к 2028-у может сложиться ситуация, когда надо ждать пока накопятся ресурсы или пройдут исследования, и вот эти постоянные прерывания очень бесят.

Плюсы игры:
- Надо думать, считать и не быть выленком!
- Поскольку надо думать, то в самом начале, пока не разберешься с механиками, надо будет страдать!
- А еще она невероятно затягивает, что от игры и надо.

Bloody well done game.

The game is polished and made with love. I strongly suggest if you ever start playing this to:

1. Play on the easiest difficulty. It isn't easy and don't be ashamed, It will be a long campaign and you need this. Unless you are unemployed and have nothing better to do than play this 8 hours a day for a couple of weeks.
2. Don't think of it as a campaign to only defeat the aliens. Think of it more as a sandbox. Build up and colonize. Defend your stuff, etc.
3. Why wage guerilla war early with aliens? Because when they do surveillance they get significant advantage over time. And it really really really hurts them in the long run. Building up a missile fleet until you have MK3 weapons like railguns, lasers and coilguns. Where you can use something more... sustainable for long term fighting
5. save scum :)

A fantastic game that demands an attention span and time investment for a campaign. If you're looking for something you can finish in a week then this is not it. If you enjoy Paradox games but wish they lasted longer, this is for you. The developers have shown great attention to detail with new moons being added as they're discovered, and actual research being done in plausabile future technologies.

наприклад в двигунах можна заплутатися на раз два
насправді без втрати глибини геймплею можна було зробити більш глобальні підходи щоб не перегружати гравця
фінальна третина гри дуже затягнута - вже все ясно але довго летіти зачищати зовнішні планети + прибульці роздьоргують увагу маленькими флотами, що змушує розпорошувати сили
це дже затягує час гри
я наприклад ще не закінчив першу кампанію за Опір хоча вже абсолютно зрозуміло що виграв
збираю волю в кулак щоб домучити
однозначно в найближчий час не буду грати за інші фракцї - втомився
тому 4/5 - чудова концепція але це все таки гра а не робота!

Рекомендую всем любителям стратегий в духе парадоксов. Игра мне нравится, но не без недостатков
Вначале это политическая стратегия, напомнившая мне Сумеречную борьбу(Twilight struggle). Потом планета разбивается на блоки, подчиняющиеся фракциям и вы обращаете внимание на космос, пытаетесь колонизировать и не слишком разозлить пришельцев. Потом начинаются салочки с пришельцами, чтобы сразиться на своих условиях. Напомнило бои в стелларисе.
Разнообразные механики с одной стороны плюс, с другой разобраться без вики/гайда - задача нетривиальная. Почти всю первую игру тебя сопровождают "а, так вот как оно работает" моменты.
Конструктор кораблей вещь в себе. Промедитировал над ним не один час, пытаясь собрать тот самый корабль мечты
Развитие технологий реализовано необычно - на фундаментальные разработки скидываются все вместе, а вот практические реализации каждая фракция разрабатывает сама. Дерево технологий обширное и первое время глаза разбегаются, что изучать. Отдельный вызов - разобраться чем один двигатель корабля отличается от другого и какой лучше(а их тут несколько десятков разных)
Главный минус - всё это начинает мешать в эндгейме. Ты уже контролируешь все крупные страны, делать особо нечего на земле, лишь изредка какая-то фракция пытается тебе нагадить. Твои флоты уже избивают пришельцев так же, как они тебя в начале игры, осталось только их добить. А корабли даже на топовых движках могут месяцами лететь до цели(а до самых дальних астероидов - больше года). Просто сидишь и ждешь. Техи все изучены, проекты сделаны, самые вкусные места для колонизации - твои.
В общем один раз сыграл на нормальной скорости и это капец. Только быстрая - хотя бы до эндгейма быстрее доберетесь.

I don't think devs want people to play this game.
This game is not even a game, but a horribly boring and long texts written on pretty UI and extremely obnoxious AI factions which won't die out like fungi.
If a seasoned strategy game player can't play the game after the so-called 'tutorial' and has to search through player community for the most basic information, it means the game and the tutorial is broke from its very foundation.

I love 4x games. This is sickening perversion of its definition. There is no diplomatic solution, there is no extermination. Where's strategy when there's no real choice but frustration? Enemy won't die, can't be reasoned with.

(Played this game a lot in offline so my playtime on record is low)
I love grand sci-fi strategies, and seeing the trailers I just had to play this. Game had me hooked in really hard for first roughly 40hours, and then slowly my motivation to play just disappeared and my general feeling of the game was just getting worse and worse. There is awesome potential in this game, the idea is just top notch and I see a possibility to fix it and even expand this game further into another stage where you take control of the solar system as a unified civilization (or start from scratch in another system) and just continue outwards to conquer the galaxy. But some systems need a redesign for me to be satisfied with it enough that I would recommend it to someone else. Games should be fun and this game started feeling like chore pretty soon and mind that I am pretty resilient to chore gameplay and If I get anoyed by it you know it is too much. I stopped playing after researching antimatter tech which is pretty far into the game and had Earth and Mars under control. My motivation is just gone and I just don't want to open the game anymore because I know what is waiting for me there, just more chores like it is some work I have to do and no fun. In its current state it is not engaging enough for an avarage player to even finish the game once. Also I have a feeling like this game was made by somone who had ultra crazy fetish on engines because that is not a normal game design choice that was made here :D

Theese are my biggest problems with the game
-this one is easily fixable> SOUNDTRACK, as a sound producer I beg you to invest into better soundtrack for the game. I had to turn it off after 20 hours because I was going nuts from it. There are elements in the music that are easiliy distinguishable so you know when the loop starts and when it ends so your brain just knows that you listen to the same track over and over and over... After quick search I used some random dark ambient video from YT (Hats off to the author it is awesome: "Sub Zero: Dark Sci Fi Music For Winter Relaxation (Deep And Relaxing)") and played it in the background, it improved the experience so much that I am sure it prolonged my motivation to play.
-the satisfaction you get from unification of states is destroyed in late game by watching it going into constant unrest because of low cohesion caused by... unification. It is a game and you destroy the biggest pleasure of the game mechanic you created which I understand is for the realism but you dont know what would happen in reality and this is fiction scenario so it was not necesseary to destroy your game for it. Also you can't slowly unify entire planet or at least solve the entire Earth stage so you can concentrate only on space where you still have more than enough to do. It is simply not interesting enough to keep you going so many hours doing the same thing and in the late game you just have to micromanage to keep control of your countries and I hate is so much... You should be able to at least stop completely the alien influence/fauna/whatever spreading when you have the orbit under control, and you should be able to have some event of purificating your planet and uniting the entire planet under one faction. Just solving this one problem somehow would switch my rating from not recommended to recomended. Also the ground battles are not very enyojable, and sometimes you have trouble knowing where your armies are especially when you have more countries with a lot of armies.
-combat in space is super unintuitive and unsatisfactory at least for me, I hated this part of the game and started to always autoresolve. Why people try to find new ways of something that was brought to perfection with original Homeworld games is beyond me, just copy that combat system for players sake. Even the developers of HW3 were dumb enough to not copy it wtf :D
-the engine bloat is really bad, I guess the developer had a reason for so many engines but for an avarage person that will play this game because of the lenghty gamplay maybe once, it is just super anoying. You don't even know which engines you should head for and you MUST use the internet or you are just screwed with wasting your reasearch on them and eventually you loose because of that.
- you find out mid game you made horrible choices and you are too much in to fix it and that is just wasting someones time which is bad game design period. For example it was not clear which stat is benefit for which ability and I build ESP for agent that did not have purge and realized I am pretty much screwed too late in the game while some other abilities are just usless or unusable in comparison. Same with research, you have too much options to just waste your precious research points and loose entire game because of bad research choices or bad priorities in State management. I only prevented this by looking things up online, new player is almost guaranteed to be screwed by using only info provided by the game. Also I couldn't even count how many times I had to reload a save
-game did not explain state management enough, understood it to the point I felt I knew what I was doing and for what purpose 30 hours in which is too late when you want to min/max from start

These are some small issues I had
-I think there is still a lot of room for UI optimization and making it less a chore.
-it is not clear what activities angers the aliens, so you can't reliably control the meter (again you need to use internet to get the info)
-in the upper UI research panel where all the info should be aggregated, you dont see where are the bonuses for reasearch from specifically by percentage, so it is difficult to tell if you can still build research centers that don't have diminishing returns.
-new research project does not show you details of what it does, you have to open the reasearch tree that is such a huge waste of time for a new player that doesnt know the tech
-in the fleet screen you dont see the class of ships you have in the fleet and all the ships look the same in size so you have trouble orienting which fleet is which.
-if you make custom fleet name you have to be carefull to not merge it the other way around or you loose the fleet name, the game should prioritaze the player named fleets to the game generated ones.
-sharing propelant is unintuitive if you want to do anything else then delta V EQ
-when rearranging the habs and stations priorities in filter when then scrolling in hubs menu the order of stations is not changed based on the custom order of stations.
-Neural engeneering and other implants for admins research lacks description of what the implants actually do and you can't make a decision if you need it based on it
-no warning that your fleet will be stranded.
-the purge is broken when fighting with 3 factions at once for control point you never get to purge fisrt (even if you crackdown at the same time) it just cancels your mission.
-you cant even recon the other councilmen because they teleport all over the world.
-purging is super anoying when you try to purge a point where AI is purgin as well you always only get message that there is nothing to purge. When you fight with 3 factions to get one country this is just super anoying.
-ship building not explained AT ALL and you get flooded with useless engines and combinatios which stems into unusable ships, made over 15 ship designs before I realized what to do to not get blown to bits and also had to look it up online. Ship refit blocked in a game with such problems is a HORRIBLE design choice.
-techtree UI is horrible for finding out what you need to research to get what, I really think this can be made much better
-social resarch for states keeps bloating social research choices, only solution is mark them obsolete even if you may need it later and forget it
-a lot of time it is not clear what to reaserch and do so you can unify states, had to use internet too.

If you are reading this, you already know the type of game this is—and the type of player you are.

And if that’s you, this game does *that* incredibly well.

If you’re not sure, understand this: this is a game built for people who enjoy immersive realism in grand strategy. In that space, it’s honestly unmatched.

A lot of what people list as negatives—long travel times, complex economy, the overall “slog”—are actually positives for the right player. The scale and density feed the fantasy of running a multi-decade organisation pursuing an ideological objective. Defeating the aliens is the obvious one, but the other factions are just as compelling.

I’m about 60 hours in and nearing the end of a standard campaign, which seems pretty typical. There *is* some bloat that doesn’t serve that fantasy, though—mostly the tech tree, especially drives. There are just too many ship engines, too much overlap, and not enough clarity on what actually matters. I genuinely lost a campaign because I got lost in that system and didn’t reach what I needed in time.

That said, I don’t understand the criticism of the space combat. It’s excellent. With a bit of micro and actual strategy, you can win fights where you’re heavily outmatched. Using faster torpedoes to catch flankers, overwhelming point defense with missile volleys, reading enemy fleet compositions—there’s real depth there. If you want strategy without thinking, this isn’t your game.

The aliens are compelling, the systems are deep, and the replayability is huge. Each faction has a different win condition, and a standard run is easily 50+ hours. That’s ~400 hours for all factions, more if you count different scenarios or challenge runs.

This is the quintessential 4X grand strategy game about defending Earth from an extraterrestrial threat. Nothing else really comes close.

But it *is* one of those games. The trust me bro, “it gets good after season 4” kind.

It took me three separate attempts across multiple years—and about 30 hours in my latest run—before things finally clicked. At that point I realised I wasn’t bouncing off the game; I just hadn’t learned it yet. Once you do, it opens up massively.

Does that make it bad? I don’t think so. If the game were simpler, it wouldn’t deliver the depth it does. There are tools to help—the codex is solid, there’s a battle simulator, and the tutorial is decent. There are also great creators out there (Gravelless is a standout) who can cut down a lot of the trial and error.

But make no mistake: the barrier to entry is huge.

If that’s not for you, that’s fair. But if it *is*, this game is exceptional.

For the right player, this is one of the best strategy games out there, nothing compares to the melting of genres creating the unique experience that is this game.

I had long time to think about what is my review of game and i have to say negative.
i do love idea and spirit of game But after all those hours of game 175+ i cant stand UI and not having basic things like drag and drop organization of assets, ship design is just terrible you cant sort things properly , beside making things obsolete you have no recurse in knowing what is good or bad.
you have like popups all of time and if you disable popups you suddenly have habs having blown becouse you some how disable alien fleet arivals.
hab managment is also just terible you cant return between windows.
i cant stand this UI that would be bad in 2000s let alone now

Welp. This took my interest away from basically every other game in my library. The only real con that I have is performance based. It runs great up until the expansion into the system really takes over. FPS plummets when time is progressing with so many things going on in the system. Seeing as important events are paused... it isn't a huge deal.

As a dedicated fan of Terra Invicta, I believe Pavonis Interactive has created something truly special. However, the current early-to-mid game "geopolitical grind" has become a significant barrier to the game’s grand potential. The mechanical redundancy of surface management often overshadows the brilliant space simulation that lies beneath.
To elevate Terra Invicta to the next level, I would like to offer the following constructive suggestions:

[h2] Reimagining Military Assets [/h2]
Currently, armies feel like passive national attributes rather than strategic assets.
Investment & Training: Shifting towards a manual recruitment and training model would create a sense of "sunk cost." Elite divisions should be fostered over time, making their loss in combat a poignant strategic setback.
Technological Disparity: When military tech gaps exceed 1.0, the combat results should reflect a decisive, rapid breakthrough. This would reward technological investment and prevent advanced forces from being bogged down in illogical, months-long stalemates against vastly inferior tech.
Unit-Specific Specialization: Allowing tech upgrades to be applied to individual divisions (rather than a global national stat) would enable diverse playstyles—such as maintaining a small "Quality" force versus a large "Quantity" army.

[h2] Faction Consolidation & The "Endgame" for Rivals [/h2]
Managing 7 distinct factions throughout the entire game can lead to repetitive "councillor whack-a-mole" that distracts from the late-game narrative.
Faction Elimination & Leaders: Introducing a "Decapitation Strike" or "Last Stand" mechanic for factions that have lost all territory and assets would allow for a cleaner late-game map and a sense of true victory over opposing ideologies.
Internal Branching: Instead of 7 static factions, we could see a system of internal ideological splits. For instance, the Resistance could evolve towards "Traditional Defense" or merge into "Humanity First" extremism based on player choices.

[h2] Global Governance as a Performance & Gameplay Solution [/h2]
The mid-game Social Science tree would benefit greatly from a "Global Unification" pathway.
Superstate Entities: Allow factions to consolidate their holdings into unified global entities (e.g., the Resistance’s United Earth Government or the Initiative’s Global Corporation).
Strategic Streamlining: Transitioning from 200+ nations to a few massive ideological blocs would drastically reduce CP management overhead and significantly improve performance in the late game.

[h2] From Outposts to Extra-Terrestrial Societies [/h2]
Space bases currently feel like identical "resource nodes." We can do more with the "Humanity in Space" narrative.
Colonial Sovereignty: When population thresholds are met, bases should transition into Colonial Cities or Space Nations with their own political identities.
Governments-in-Exile: Factions pushed off Earth should have the mechanical support to function as "Deep Space Insurgencies" or "Star Trusts," shifting the game's center of gravity from Earth to the outer planets as the timeline progresses.

[h2] Balancing Scientific Rigor with Gameplay Innovation [/h2]
While we deeply admire Pavonis’s commitment to scientific accuracy and the intricate realism of orbital mechanics, there is a delicate balance to strike.
Prioritize Content over Minutia: We would rather see your immense talent directed toward gameplay revolutions—such as the highly anticipated Cold War Scenario—rather than spending extensive development cycles fine-tuning dozens of propulsion types or minor Delta-V adjustments.
The PVE Context: Since Terra Invicta is a PVE experience rather than a competitive PVP title, "perfect balance" in physics takes a backseat to meaningful strategic choices.
Depth vs. Complexity: Complexity in engine values is fascinating, but structural depth—like new historical starting points and narrative-shifting geopolitics—is what will truly keep the community engaged for years to come.

Extraordinarily deep, fun, and immersive grand strategy game. Arguably the best I have ever played. I love the integrated earth space economy and realistic concepts for ship design, flight, and general orbital mechanics. Steep learning curve on systems, priorities, abilities, and tech, but absolutely worth the payoff. Space battles are also wild at first but incredibly satisfying!

總之遊戲內容不錯而操作 ui 優化卻極度垃圾 ; 屬於會想重玩內容但是想到垃圾般的ui、畫面 lag、 10分鐘的loading time、作業感十足的陸戰、操作垃圾自動駕駛也垃圾的太空戰、還有官方不爽給玩家return 叫我們滾去10分鐘讀檔的心態、不把遊戲中武器、盔甲等參數講清楚浪費我一堆時間去查的故意搞人的心態，我應該這場最高難度抵抗軍打完就不會再開了。

題外話不論如何歐盟跟俄羅斯合併都會變成歐陸聯盟。開發者你邏輯錯誤囉，好好看看你聯盟的敘述。

Very engrossing strategy game, has that old 'civ-style' just one more turn pull appeal (even though there are no turns, though councilor actions are paced). It takes a bit of time to get used to the systems. There is a lot going on, and while the in game tooltips and documentation are adequate, I recommend spending some time taking a spin through the official wiki and the r/terrainvicta subreddit. You'll figure it all out yourself eventually, but these external resources can help save some 'figuring it out' time.

The transition from earth to space-based gameplay feels quite natural as the game progresses, and once things 'click' you'll find yourself thinking about your strategy a lot while away from the game itself. Just super engrossing.

Graphics are decent for this type of game, and the zooming in and out from the earth to the broader solar system is quite smooth. Space combat battles are the highlight of the graphics for me. However, this is a strategy game, so bear that in mind.

There aren't any big negatives for me with this game, but again it does take some time to figure out the systems. The technology tree in particular can be pretty overwhelming, and since there is no single correct choice in how to proceed you can feel lost at first. However, I found the enjoyment of figuring things out and trying new things a lot of fun.
Another con for some: The in-battle controls for space combat could be better. especially as the game progresses I keep finding myself using autoresolve and only manually controlling the combat when I'm more evenly matched with the aliens or want to see how a new design functions in combat.
Last thing to mention: Overall the game runs real well on my 5 1/2 year old PC, but saving takes quite a long time the further you are in your playthrough (sometimes 20-30 seconds) which I just found annoying.

I'm writing this with 369 hours played (though some of that is certainly idle time), and I should note that I still haven't beaten the game.

I'm really liking this game. Bear in mind: it is an unforgiving, hard sci-fi, time-based grand-strategy game. Games can take really long, and if you fall behind there aren't really many ways to catch back up. However, the game isn't that much of a sandbox: there are 7 factions with 7 different stories, missions, POVs and perspectives, so the difficulty serves to help you explore the depths of the simulation, which is sometimes really deep (even exessive in my opinion)

However, there are two pain points for me: performance and UI. For what it is, the performance is dogsh*t. Loading times are absurd, sometimes even a couple of minutes (even when it's running on an NVMe). If you play too long, be prepeared to see your fps get snapped in half. If the performance is terrible, the UI is somehow worse: the text is too small, sometimes confusing. Windows and menus are designed in a very poor way and make very bad use of screenspace. The game DESPERATELY needs the touch of a real UI designer. Still, despite all of this, the game underneath is really fun.

Honestly if I could give a mixed review I could, but if you don't mind the UI and performance problems and are willing to try it out then I can reccomend.

Изначально склонялся к положительному обзору, но всё таки дал отрицательный. Почему?
А всё просто:

Первая треть игры.
Интересная потасовка за малые страны третьего мира, борьба за страны первого. Для фаната игр параходов это прям сказка. Аналогично, интересно начинать осматривать солнечную систему, ставить первые станции и колонии.

Вторая треть игры.
Битва за Землю в принципе завершена, начинается доедание того, что не доел. Ну и объединение крупных стран в очень крупные. Тут уже возникают вопросы. Например, ну почему нельзя объединить всю Америку в одну страну, на кой ляд Северная и Южная? Правильно, чтобы задр**ивать игрока отправлять агентов туда обратно. Аналогичный вопрос к остальным частям света.
По поводу открытия миллиона миллиардов типов двигателей ничего сказать не могу. Да, их много, но автопланировщик кораблей в принципе справляется со своей задачей. Главное, закидывать ну совсем уж затратные по топливу варианты в "устаревшие" и будет вам счастье.
Прикольный аспект - начало холодной войны с пришельцами. Атаковать ты не особо то и можешь, но и пришельцы уже не вывозят твои оборонные флоты. Поэтому вы как биба и боба сидите в меме "ну давай давай нападай". Интересно)

Последняя треть игры.
Вот тут и произошел дроп игры. Победа игрока очевидна, но теперь начинается долгий и скучный захват системы. Нет, не так. ДОЛГИЙ и СКУЧНЫЙ. Буквально симулятор ОЖИДАНИЯ и СКИПА ХОДОВ. Остальные фракции переходят в режим "гнида". Объясняю: Вот отбил ты условную планету или спутник. Поздравляю, теперь ЖДИ постройки станции, потом ЖДИ постройки колонии на небесном теле. А это год - два. Хочешь оставить нт в тылу и полететь дальше в атаку а фиг тебе. Получай флот Сопротивления "Полупокер-696", собранный на коленке, который слабее всего, что существует, но которого хватает, чтобы выбомбить в ноль строющуюся станцию/колонию. Построить флот обороны? Ну это почти год, сынок. Поэтому твой флот атаки просто ЖДЁТ, пока всё отстроится. А может ЖДЁТ, потому что его заправка - год работы шахтёров-работяг всей системы, копающих водород.
В общем, симулятор ждуна. Но время то нельзя просто запустить и погнали, нужно раздавать задания агентам, ибо полной автоматизации заданий нет. Поэтому последний этап такой хреновый.

Цените своё время время. Ибо игра ваше не ценит.

Einiges könnte besser erklärt sein.
Neu für mich war die Unübersichtlichkeit des Technikbaums mit versteckten Zweigen. Ja, das ist für Forschung real und richtig, es ist nur in einem Strategiespiel ungewohnt.
Die Schwierigkeit erlebte ich als schwankend. Anfangs easy, man denkt sich "läuft", dann zieht sie aber auch auf "verzeihend" an. Man kommt nicht zur Ruhe: Wenn nicht die Aliens dann andere Fraktionen, Popularität aufbauen, Knoten schützen, Konkurrenz eindämmen, ... und ständige Resourcenknappheit.
Es wird nicht langweilig. Mal schauen, wie es ab dem Midgame läuft.
Ungewohnt auch: Für ein Weltraumspiel muss man schon ziemlich lange die Erde verwalten und forschen, bevor man erste halbwegs nützliche Schiffe bauen kann.
Fazit:
Klare Kauf&Spiel-Empfehlung.

This game did show me something important: that there is indeed such a thing as "too complicated"... it reminds me of those mods for Sid Meier's Civilization games where they add hundreds of technologies and end up stretching out the pacing way too long - a full vanilla 500 turn game of that (Civilization V) would take probably 12 hours, maybe double that to 24 if you're playing multiplayer, whereas this game outright tells you that a full campaign is probably 100 hours and even when I use the custom settings in an attempt to simplify the game, everything goes by so quickly (and no it's not because I sped it up, it's because there's still a bajillion things to do after cutting the game down for my 12 year old computer to handle it at normal speed), I'm not even sure how the Steam Guides writers even learn anything when it requires basically MMO-tier time investment
And yes like most other strategy games it does suffer from the dreaded "late game slog", but really what strategy games do you know that doesn't have a certain late game slog? Civilization: The game begins to take minutes on end to process turns, and wars, which were once quick, decisive affairs, now can only end when you take a half-dozen enemy cities, Crusader Kings II: managing your dozens of titles turns into hours of work as you seek to pacify your vassals and keep everyone bribed and happy, Hearts of Iron: the player has to deal with the problems of managing a huge, supply-draining army even as the game’s performance slows to a complete crawl, making the grind that much more torturous... Fighting battles in Total War is no fun anymore when you have to fight four of them in a turn and selling things on the galactic market in Stellaris becomes busywork clicking buttons over and over as you watch a huge stockpile get slightly smaller in return for resources you might maybe need… later.
But yea I gotta agree with the red thumbs downers that there is a distinct period between the player basically reaching an unbeatable level and the game actually recognizing your faction's victory condition, which really isn't helped by what I typed above about the game being unusually long

Speaking of factions from a narrative standpoint it says that there's 8 factions when in reality it's more like 3 and the gameplay loop for all of them is pretty similar enough where most of the differences come from diplomatic interactions with the other factions and who you find yourself making the alliances with - you have the anti-alien factions (for the comfy XCOM larp), the pro-alien factions (for when you like being a villain's minion), and the neutrals (for when you like a science fiction spy thriller, how much media of that have you seen? Only one I can think of is X-Files)

But to give it credit I will say that the earth mode is basically the best part of the game; it's not just fun, it never stops being fun, they did it right with how the countries aren't playable factions in the game yet they kind of behave like them - they have their own agendas and they push back against the player factions' attempts to control them, with China in particular regularly soloing the aliens and their infiltration agents for years solely because of how totalitarian and bureaucratic they are, even when none of the pro-human conspiracy factions, none of the pro-alien factions who understand what the aliens are really doing, are offering them any help
The aliens probably weren't expecting their fortress in Jupiter's moons to be obliterated by a strike team of Cuban Black Wasps that had been sneaking up to them in cryosleep for the past 14 years, ha

Seriously if I could play a game that was just Terra Invicta's earth mode it would probably unironically be strategy game of the year, there have been a couple not-as-good games that tried replicating earth mode and it's just not the same
Really now that I type it out it's probably why I yapped on about the late game slog earlier: the problem is that the systems that made the game fun at the start where you're only looking at Earth, the economy management, the armies, the little decisions that need to be made about technology, enemy faction spies, wars between the non-playable Earth nations, or whatever else, tend to multiply in number as the campaign goes on and new planets become accessible, turning the late game into a drag that never seems to end

To put it in a sentence it's just 2 autistic 5 me, it reminds me of hearts of iron 3 where if you don't do the pre-war perfectly you're in an unwinnable state

But I'm not gonna be a debby downer and do the red thumbs down cause I know a good amount of people who do enjoy hearts of iron 3 on a fundamental level, if the foundations of something is good but the content itself is lame then that's pretty easily fixed by modder contributions, the examples of other games that I bring up are for a reason, there are some real stinker games in the examples I bring up (Empire: Total War) that got saved by popular mods but this isn't one of them, I think; if a sequel gets made (which does seem likely given how well-received this is) then I suspect it will improve greatly from the inevitable sandpapering of friction that is done in those kinds of sequel things

On the upside the game gives a fairly hard sci fi alien invasion with some pretty interesting lore and a fairly fun gameplay loop. On the downside the game has confusing struggles with performance, despite including so many factions they almost all play exactly the same, and there is a massive time gap between the point where you've beaten the aliens to a pulp and the point where the game actually declares you the winner.
Final note 90% of the difficulty of the game is simply learning what the noob traps are, rush space mining and nuclear freighters->ultraviolet and phased array laser global tech with 2 layered defense arrays on all your habs and you've won the game with it only being a matter of how long it takes you to prove it to the game.

I really want to like this game, I really, really do. I've sunk nearly 100 hours into trying to like this game, but I just can't do it.

It feels like a perfect example of why getting lost in the weeds of "realism" can end up distracting from the actual gameplay. The ship making was something that I was initially looking forward to, that just ended up being so esoteric and annoying to work with, I just stopped playing. I'm not a rocket scientist, but there was so much jargon being thrown at me I had no idea where to start, or what constituted a good design.

I actually find the politics of influencing and taking countries very fun, but eventually it just becomes irrelevant. Its also a game that seems to pride itself on not holding your hand, but with so many systems in place, it feels almost impossible to actually learn how to play the game. I shouldn't need wikis and yt tutorials just to figure out how your systems work.

Really interesting game. If you like games like the Hearts of Iron series and also like Stellaris, then you shall probably like this one. It seems really complex at the start, but once you get to know how things work (maybe 15 hours in) it is actually quite simple (can still be hard to be victorious in the campaign, but simple in respect to the overall game). Then it becomes alot of fun. Always planning ahead with research, tactics, ship placement etc. I really like it. I have beaten the game with The resistance and about to do so with the Servants, but then i may take a break from the game. Was fun while it lasted.

Imagine if Stellaris was slower, more complex, and confined to the solar system, and the space combat was identical to that of The Expanse, and you've got this. For the majority of the game you are severely technologically outmatched, so must play a guerilla/assymetrical warfare approach, and while dealing with rival factions on Earth. If you can persevere, you can match the enemy with glorious space battles, progress through the next few decades of technology, and plant the flag of mankind throughout the solar system.

Terra Invicta is an original game and a strong candidate for best strategy game in GOTY2026.

But why I don't recommend it?

Because the game feels unpolished in certain arbitrary mechanics that don't improve the gameplay and over extend the playthrough.

The minimum threat level cap based on Mission Control is just a way to force the player to slowdown development, in order to make the playthrough reach hundreds of hours. Without this arbitrary mechanic the playthrough would be much better and fluid!

There are other arbitrary mechanics that works towards this goal "slowdown development to force you to spend more time playing"

I feel as like as playing a MMORPG in the early 2000, with neverending level grinding...

If you have a lot of free time, go for it, play it!
If you haven't much free time, wait for some MODs or adjustments.

There is an amazing game buried here, but it’s currently trapped behind a clunky and overly complex agent layer. The gameplay frequently dissolves into an insane amount of repetitive busywork, where managing councilors feels less like a grand stratergy and more like an endless chore.

If you like polotics, then you might like this game. The space map of the solar system is very impressive and quite extensive. But in order to build bases and stations you need boost and mission control points and you get them by controling countries on earth. By the way every country on earth is also in this game. But you cant do anything in space without controling countries on earth, and you have councilors that you send on missions to do that. Only that way can you get into space. So you will spend most of your time controling your councilors and trying to control earth. The space aspect is nice and is what drew me to this game, but it is mostly about politics, everything stems from that. Also the tech tree is the biggest i have ever seen, i am 140 hours in and i am only about half way through it if that, and i still cant reach saturn or beyond and the keipler belt objects are also in this game. But the aliens are powerful and are also trying to control earth, as well as the other factions who are competing with you. I can reach jupiter, but any base i build there is destroyed by the aliens, i do not have the technology to stop them, not yet anyway. Also i play at the highest speed, because there is nothing to see, and no reason to go slow, if any event happens, that you need to see the game will stop for you to control the event, if you so choose, and it will stop every month for you to control your councilers. I really don't know why anyone would play on a slower speed. It is a big game and very interesting, but is it worth playing? that depends if you like politics, or are willing to put up with the politics to access the space content. I am not sure i would play it again.

This game is interesting but somehow I can't get past the early stage (first 2-3 years). Every time I start a campaign in Terra Invicta I end up wanting to play X-Com2 Long War Of The Chosen... With Terra invicta somehow I miss that sense of camaraderie and team unity that I get with LWOTC. The whole councilors thing feels all to corporate and distant.

This being said, I think Terra Invicta is a super interesting game, with tons of complexity (just check the reserach tree) and all the priorities and options you get to set for the countries you control.

I would recommend the game, especially if you find it at one of the frequent discounts that the publisher offers.

Don't play this game if you don't have the patience to restart it at least ten times.

Before anything else, that has to be said. It has systems that are quite deep, an interface that is extremely confusing at first, ship combat that is poorly explained with little guidance as to the best way to design ships or operate them in combat, and a punishing difficulty even on the easiest difficulty for newcomers.

All that said, it's a lot of fun for people that like deep strategy games. I would argue it needs to be cleaned up around the edges, though.

Let me explain.

When you start, you're commanding two people on Earth. No space assets, no stations, no comprehension of the forces outside the atmosphere. As you build your council and build influence in countries around the globe, you'll soon notice the dozens of other agents running around. When you first play, your instinct is to treat them as enemies. This ticks them off and gets them to fight you at every turn, stealing your territory and whacking your people.

Then you realize that most of the factions are at least tangentially friendly (unless you're a traitorous alien collaborator, anyway). You buy a few cheap orgs that are useless and then trade those or a small amount of cash for non-aggression pacts with all but the truly hostile ones.

Now things are great! You can focus on a single target and build your center of power as your buddies build theirs. You get a bit of strength and then you get a research update or two that reveals there's alien ships orbiting the Earth and there are aliens walking around abducting people.

Ok, so now you know you have to get into space, but the main resource for that, boost, isn't growing at all. How do you get it?

This is just the first poorly-explained mechanic of the game, and you're only in the early prologue to the real game. You'll fail, start over, fail again at a later part, start over again, etc... The game just doesn't instruct and guide you towards the proper methods to win. You have to figure them out, and it isn't a simple process. While most players appear to be running to the forums to figure stuff out, I would argue that's insufficient.

The game needs better in-game advisors (whether you can turn them off or not) that say things like "hey, you need boost to do anything, so here's how you develop it in countries and how you capture a larger country that already has it."

I had fun. Most gamers will not.

57 hours? for real? this is unbelievably long. been learning this game together with an AI, because otherwise it seemed a bit complicated. i can only reccommend employing the help of an AI .. just tell it to please, please, PLEASE consider the latest terra invicta patches, otherwise there will be confusion ...
i may have moved to early mid-game. after 57 hours? i knew i was slow ... but seeing the playtime, i was astonished. i mean this is my very first game.
that being said, terra invicta is fascinating. if you wanna know why, please ask somebody else. i just had a huge bowl of coconut-apple-lintel-curry stew. it is really too much to ask to explain my reasoning now. sorry guys, bad timing. great game though.

Игра про кризис-менеджмент в условиях вторжения пришельцев. Большую часть игры вы медитируете на таймер, но периодически что-то происходит (либо сами допустите ошибку, либо что-то случиться, либо соперники воспользуются случаем и подгадят) и вам придётся срочно выруливать из крутого пике, сначала решая текущие срочные вопросы, а потом выправляя последствия в долгосрочной перспективе.

Плюсы: Залипательно. Много мелких механик, в которых интересно ковыряться + относительно реалистичный космос в духе "Экспансии" ("Пространства").
Минусы: Геймплей безбожно затянут. Для понимания: на момент написания этого отзыва, из 337 наигранных часов порядка 250+ заняла последняя, победная, попытка. Причем играл я преимущественно на 4й скорости из 5ти доступных.
В основном, "затягивание" осуществляется за счет огромного древа технологий, в котором много мусорных технологий, но при этом некоторые очевидные и нужные, особенно для лейт-гейма.
По факту, игра исключительно для упорных зануд с большим количеством свободного времени.
P.S. И да, реиграбельность у игры крайне мала. Тут трудно проиграть (по крайней мере, на сложности "Игрок"), но все ваши ошибки будут наказываться часами реального времени. И потратив 200-250 на одну успешную попытку накостылять ксеносам, вы вряд ли решите сделать это снова. По крайней мере, не в ближайшие пару лет.

Truly an incredible game and exactly what I look for in a grand strategy game. There are so many layers to gameplay it can be overwhelming, and requires a lot of trial and error. However, the game feels very rewarding when you get over that next roadblock. I am a big fan of the older Civilization games and while very different, Terra Invicta feels like it calls back to those games a bit. The only downside I would say is that it is a very complex game and winning the game can be a monumental task taking over 100+ hours to beat (Depending on the chosen faction).

Way too much to manage the the interface is not intuitive. Will take time to master how to give directions much less with though and purpose. If you have the time go for it. Beautiful graphics, interesting concept. I do enjoy complex games but prefer them to develop at a better pace.

Le tuto est pourri, il y a des pavés immenses et ennuyants à lire, le système de craft de vaisseaux est comme dans tous ces jeux ultra complexe, le jeu est dur, peu intuitif et très punitif, mais la sensation de toujours apprendre des trucs avec un jeu énormément complet est un plaisir, on ressent la passion des créateurs, le jeu a des défauts mais reste une pépite dans son genre, je ne le recommanderais qu'aux grands amoureux de ce style de jeux, mais j'ai personnellement adoré malgré le fait que je sois trop nul pour gagner une seule partie en 100 h de jeu en normal.

I loved the game.

It’s actually two games in one, both targeting the same type of player. The first part plays like a 4X strategy game focused on political control, while another part feels almost like an Excel sheet for resource management—though a bit smaller in scale than EU6. The second major part of the game focuses on space control and exploration, featuring very diverse combat. Unfortunately, the controls are absolutely outrageous and quite awful, even though the underlying mechanics themselves are very good.

To complement all of this, the game has a very deep and complex tech tree. It also introduces new things progressively, which keeps you engaged as you learn more mechanics over time.

I don’t even mind that it could be a bit more polished.

Algo áspero a la hora de hacerte con las mecánicas del juego para los no acostumbrados a los juegos de gran estrategia, pero una vez que te haces a éstas es espectacular. Similar en trama a los juegos de X-Com, pero con una profundidad y realismo sin punto de comparación. Como todo juego de gran estrategia, no esperes invertir menos de 100 horas para terminar el juego. Es además rejugable si te apasionó, cada facción tiene una historia y motivaciones distintas.

Spent my first hour trying to muddle through the tutorial. At the end it still doesn't tell you how to accomplish the very first requirement. If you want a game like the old Masters of Orion 3, or you love micro managing a game then this game is for you. If you thought it would something along the lines of the fun MOO or X-Coms? This does not appear to be it.

Page after page of pop up and dialog, with loads of numbers but minimal or no explanation. Research, with no idea what that research does. The tutorial is just page after page of dialog alongside the regular game, pushing the player to make multiple simultaneous decisions they didn't have the chance to understand. This could have been fixed by a more guided tutorial. Rather than just showing the player text, limit the interface to a single action that matters and is well explained. Advance the timeline until that action plays out, and explain what that decision made. Repeat until all major mechanics have been explained and experienced. I've played plenty of complicated games, some more complex than this one, but the difference is those games engage the player from the start. With this game I was still bored and frustrated after half an hour and have other games to play instead.

This game is extremely engaging and addicting. As you go through the game's story, it has points where totally new elements of gameplay get added. So many parts give you that "one more turn" feeling every time you play.

It's at least 3 different games in a trench coat. You have the grand strategy element on Earth, then exploring and establishing space bases to gather resources, and then building all of your space ships and fighting against an opponent that has a huge head start in power.

It's incredibly slow on standard settings, accelerated campaigns are more reasonable. Also, the standard galaxy size ends up being very demanding in the late game on your computer and attention span, but smaller galaxy sizes can make bases absolutely overloaded with resources.

The UI does a poor job at explaining things. Luckily, the community has some detailed guides, but you have to double check if they're updated for 1.0.

In 260 hours, I've had 2 full campaigns and 2 that failed after a few days of playing. However, 1 of the full campaigns is done because I just don't have the willpower to sit for multiple hours waiting to build more fleets and send them all to a point on the far end of the galaxy (and my CPU is begging me to stop).

Terra Invicta is an enjoyable grand strategy game with perhaps the steepest learning curve I have ever experienced. Consequently, although I have put almost 200 hours into it at this point and will probably put in at least another 100 or so in the future, it is a game I can only recommend to a small subset of gamers.

The tutorial needs a complete overhaul. It explains only what "the buttons" do, rather than offering any practical guidance or high-level strategy. It needs a completely scripted tutorial, giving the player precise commands, so the user can understand what the game is actually asking of them. Giving me 30 minutes of reading what every button in the space combat portion of the game does isn't helpful: I tuned out about 6 buttons in.

Similarly, the game needs about 500% more tooltips. The cog symbol is a standout to me: as far as I can tell, it was explained *nowhere* and it was only after I finished the skunkworks research that I figured out what it actually did.

The late-game is a serious slog, and I know I'm not alone in thinking this. Without getting into spoilers, I got to the point where the aliens couldn't feasibly win in probably the late 2030's, maybe early 2040's. I ended the game in 2052. I don't have a good time estimate of how long that takes to play through, but for me it was probably 50 hours.

I know I'm only pointing out problems here; the truth is I had a lot of fun with TI. But although there are many mechanisms to help you come back from behind such that it's pretty difficult to definitively *lose* (at least on Normal difficulty, which is what I played), this game does whatever the *opposite* of holding your hand is. It drops you into the deep end of the pool. As of the time of my review, I couldn't expect anyone to learn to play TI without extensive internet research. That info just needs to be *in the game*. If that's something you don't mind, Terra Invicta does things no other game I've played has managed. Marrying realistic space travel and combat with a deep Earth strategy layer works shockingly well. It's just a shame that I'd expect so many people to bounce off it.

Most realistic space combat plus fun and believable paint-the-map grand strategy. One game takes 100+ hours even on "accelerated" and you will want to start over multiple times since you are racing the aliens. Like other strategy games it becomes a slog when you've effectively beat the other factions but still have many hours of work to meet the victory conditions. But I still love it overall!

I've played for 12 hours. This is not long enough to evaluate this game. That may tell you if you want to play or not. I have not come close to finishing a play through, as far as I can tell. The game is both pretty straightforward and incredibly dense. I have not used guides or watched other playthroughs though, so if you're that type of gamer this may be easier to figure out.
There are a lot of things you need to do, but understanding how all the pieces fit together and how to interact with those systems is a very steep learning curve.
If you want a video game that makes Axis and Allies look simple, this is it.

Very slow, of the Paradox watching the grass grow as you micromanage each blade variety.

Its like the offsping of Kerbal Space Program, Axis and Allies, EU IV, and Solaris, all mashed up.

Highly enjoyable if you have a spare few thousand hours.

This game rocks!

You will see several comments here say that the gameplay is a bit mundane in the turn to turn, that tech is poorly explained, that the fleet action is limited and feels somewhat simplistic (just deathstack missiles untill you can afford plasma), and - truth be told - those issues are valid.

At its core, this game is an optimisation sim, where you win by incrementally adding half-percentage increases together until they snowball into something resembling efficient.

Restarts are completely expected, as the aliens will kick your butt, you won't know what you're doing, you'll have mismatched councillors, and realise you're screwed before you ever built a spaceship.

Despite all that, however, the progression is super satisfying, if you accept the multi-hour long pay-off tracks. It took me more than 12 hours real-world time to get a marginally effective base on the moon, but man, did it feel good.

This game is great fun if you grab a coffee, get a pen and paper, and start planning a few years ahead.

Nice twist is that, while most of the AI factions are your enemies, you still need them to generate research (at least at start). Do you wipe out that control point, knowing that it will set back their research and thus delay the possibility of creating a space-hab with a few weeks, do you pick up the slack in the global research, possibly costing you your lead in another field, or do you choose to focus elsewhere entirely.

A game that asks you to meassure thrice for good luck, and commit fully once done.

To the devs: if you're planning Terra Invicta 2 (or a major update of some sort) - and I for one really hope you are - adding more randomness to the techs that you can research, while creating a sort of more - rock-paper-scissors approach to them may aleviate a lot of the comments at present. Missiles are overpowered in the early game, doomstacks are a thing, and PD is a static value, creating a fixed optimal route. Adding scrambling options, ways to fool the enemy PD, mediate it, or buff your own, may make the doomstack less appealing. The same goes for drives. It's useless to have a gajillion drives, if they fundamentally do not add to your loadout. Interesting on that front would be multiple drive systems on a single ship (burst power in combat, efficient cruising otherwise), more roles for ships and habs other than 'shoot at enemy' , and a need to commit to the one drive you incidentally committed to early on, as you won't get another for a while.

All that to say: great game, great fun, well worth the effort and the learning curve, especially given the clear love of the genre and the ambition in the package. Keep it up, and please make more of this stuff.

- the tech tree is stupid, be it 22 or 26, like they have researchable techs like hypersonic missiles, oh wait Russia had this tech way before 22, like wtf is this? The bias? Or what? They put Russia mil score in ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ beside them having in-game researchable tech in REAL LIFE? Like, wtf? Retarded.

- States mil score and number of armies. Completely out of ass. US having most score and armies? Why? How far stupid you can go here? US have outdated AD, terrible SHORAD (Stingers on trucks, lol), terribly outdated LRMs missiles like Tomahawks, which are, granted, long range, but lacking any modern properties of modern quasi ballistics or hypersonics. They are dumb, essentially. And the list go on. Retarded? Retarded.

- edit: this new Iran war is going to be fun. In this game, US can overrun Iran in like couple of months, disparity in the game is hilarious. Just watch it in RL, you will not be dissapointed, devs are going to deliver (hard, and no)

很棒的遊戲，但新手指引跟內容說明不足，導致很多內容都是靠玩家遊玩途中發現的，像是明明取得哈里發國有取得伊朗、以色列的權利，同聯盟同政體也不能合併，自己找了很久才知道原來是敵意關係(地區顯示暗紅色)，所以只能通過戰爭合併。不然就是設計戰艦的說明很難理解，像是想知道發電量是否足夠，只是自己去看武器、驅動的耗電來理解，如果能直接顯示戰鬥中每秒耗電量的話，才比較方便調整配置……當然除此外同樣很多需要玩家自己去體驗學習的部分，故一開始上手的確容易想退坑的，因為不知道要幹嘛並手忙腳亂，但只要玩下去後就會發現是很好玩的遊戲了，尤其是自己的艦隊搭配太空戰機擊敗外星人的土衛級戰艦時，真的很棒!!(但各派系一直扯後腿真的很煩- -)
