Yeah, I have no clue how to play this game competitively. I play singleplayer and play either on the Dragon Island or The Snake maps. I wall myself off and build a communist utopia where everyone gets double rations and alcohol while they pay extra cruel taxes. After like 100 in-game years I just spam trebuchets and horse-mounted knights until I win.
10/10, would kill 3 Lancelots again.

Я щиро не розумію, як можна було зламати гру, оригінальна версія якої працювала на старому ноутбці з Intel HD Graphics без перебільшень ідеально, тоді як Steam Edition на більш-менш сучасному комп'ютері видає нестабільні 20 кадрів/секунду, а часом навіть і менше. Намагаючись виправити ситуацію пропозиціями гравців, описаними в обговореннях та посібниках, я й не помітив, що витратив на це понад 2 години часу, через що втратив можливість виконати рефанд.
Це хороша гра, але, м'яко кажучи, не найкраще її втілення! Мені важко рекомендувати її до покупки, навіть попри те, що я люблю цю серію ігор та провів немало годин, граючи в них у шкільні часи.

i really really really hate the game, so gosh darn imbalanced...
When i attack, the enemy detects me within miles away from their walls but when i attack them, my troops just loiter around and swing their swords like farmers, gosh friggin darn!!!

i just sent like 6 of them and all they had was a few archers and at least 2 dargon harpoons and got them easily AND THEY WERE SHOOTING FROM VERY VERY FAR AWAY!!!... but when they send me their bats and i have a million troops on my walls as well as dragon harpoons - none of these land lubbers can aim for sheesh AND SOMETIMES DONT EVEN REGISTER THEM UNTIL THEYRE TOO CLOSE TO THEM!!! WHAT DA F(requently) A(sked) Q(uestions) Ma'am?!!
And why the hell can my own dragon harpoon destroy my own fricking buildings???
IS IT ANTI AIR OR ANTI BUILDING UNIT FOR GOD'S SAKE!!

i still like it though, its like when age of empires got age of mythology, kinda wish i knew about it sooner, but then again i really sucked back then... couldnt even create a stable economy lol.
Its like a polished Stronghold 2 with added mythical units, but SH1 is just much more responsive. Hope they make a remaster of SH2 soon though.

Gotta go through the campaign again some day because i didnt listen to the story at all, wanna find out why Lancelot betrayed us and all (END OF SPOILER). But i just came for a challenge and to come out on top. Besides... stronghold's strong suit was never the story - but thats tottally ok. The gameplay makes You so invested.
The VAs are good but especially that dark one, Mordred? When He yells:
UNLEASH HELL UPON THEM!!!

The announcer is annoying as hell, i hate Him so much! Telling me i cant place stuff in such a silly voice like He's mocking me... and i love Him for it xD
And the music, oh my god - also insane! There's songs that have same melodies like what i heard in Gothic 2. It has got to be inspired by Gothic 2
im just glad its not a buggy mess like Stronghold 3, i ragequitted that game, literally unplayable.
i only heard strategy games like these are hard to finance, thats why they're such a rarity and why no other studio ever tried copying it... unlike battle royale games.

Fun classic game.
Maybe this wasn't the best RTS game, maybe this wasn't the most balanced RTS game, however it was one of the best sandboxy and chill RTS games. Stronghold Legends is basically Age of Mythology version of Stronghold 2. Although the campaign was brutal (at least from what I remember playing it back in 2010-ish), I always had fun just playing solo, advancing my kingdom and its infrastructure, and then watching how everything moves—horses with wagons transferring apples, churches selling candles, inventories getting filled with materials and food, miners loading donkeys with square white stones, and etc. It was just so satisfying to watch all these. Yeah, I could and did this in other games like Age of Empires, but it wasn't as satisfying as in those games, because there wasn't such detailed, you could unnecessary feature that eats RAM for no reason in a RTS game, resource management animations.

Попытка реанимировать в своё время дышавший на ладан Stronghold 2 успехом не увенчалась. И когда в недрах FireFly Studios с остервенением взялись ковать что-то новенькое, к этой активности общественность отнеслась с подозрением. Как показало время, не зря.
Stronghold Legends — неважная стратегия, практически во всём проигрывающая своим кузенам. Которые, к слову, тоже звёзд с неба не хватали, будем честны — над производственными цепочками никогда не приходилось ломать голову (в отличие от современных RTS, где желательно защитить кандидатскую, найти Шамбалу и оприходовать пол-литра перед началом). А аспекты какой-никакой тактики раскрываются лишь в мультиплеере, где удовольствие рождается в предвосхищении следующего шага оппонента. ИИ, увы, слишком схематичен и предсказуем. В принципе, залог успеха любого прохождения здесь — смекнуть, кто тут местная имба, и чем она контрится, то бишь, как говаривал дядюшка Сунь-Цзы: "Если знаешь врага и знаешь себя, сражайся хоть сто раз, опасности не будет".
Её и в нулевые не особо-то жаловали, а современные игроки вполне ожидаемо скривятся. В ней есть достойный материал в лице некоторых миссий, но от силы на несколько часов. На большее разрабов не хватило. Ни вызовов, ни интриг, ни крепкой сюжетной составляющей. Всё очень линейно и лениво.
Игра соткана из кусочков мифов и легенд трёх фракций. Были упразднены/упрощены многие механики из S2, чтобы можно было сфокусироваться на военном деле. Графика претерпела изменения: юниты похорошели, солдаты двигаются довольно разнообразно. Выбранная сторона конфликта влияет на весь антураж ваших владений. Северная цитадель облачена в зимнее убранство; Артур на пару с Ланселотом нежатся на цветочных лугах; а инфраструктура под командованием Дракулы обретает багрово-чёрные тона, и кое-где медленно оседает пепел. Моё излюбленное занятие — залипать на траектории движения селян. Мужичары-древорубы бредут к свежеповаленным берёзкам, после чего пилят древесину без сна и продыху. На каменоломне можно разглядеть чуть ли не каждый кирпичик. Поодаль нетерпеливо мычит наполовину груженный вол. Из дружественной провинции прибывает долгожданная поставка от свечных дел мастера. С пшеничных полей несётся весть о гибели урожая. Фермер с яблоневого сада гнусаво желает нашей Светлости доброго утра. Лепота...
В остальных сферах всё не столь радужно. Оскудел оборонительный арсенал, сократилось количество башен и укреплений. Следить за гигиеной, преступностью и досугом у народа больше не требуется. Балансом вообще не пахнет, эйфория от обладания новыми войсками моментально сменяется разочарованием. Снежные великаны раздолбают соседушке крышу над головой, но падут от снующих под ногами рыцарей. Летучих мышек лучники сбивают ещё на подлете, а дорогущее яйцо дракона приходится высиживать три часа, чтобы по итогу волшебная рептилия пару минут покружила над башнями, пыхнув разок цветным огнём. Причём если её не прикончат вражеские робингуды, она сама позорно взорвётся, как только часики оттикают положенное время.
Безусловно, дух былых времен витает где-то около. Но SL окончательно отходит от принципов предшественников и платится за это равнодушием со стороны игроков.
ОДНАКО
Я её. Просто. Обожаю.
Моё личное мнение необъективно, поскольку я во власти ностальгического флёра. И отдаю SL предпочтение среди всех остальных частей. Это идеальная настольная стратежка для детей. Она невероятно атмосферная, тёплая, миролюбивая, в этом заслуга графики, музыки (ставь лайк, если тоже не можешь усидеть на месте, когда врубается на всю катушку A Day in the Life of a Gong Farmer) и озвучки персонажей (я буду топить за оригинальную, потому что эта шотландщина, ирландщина и прочие акценты просто мёдом на уши). Конечно, всё то же самое есть и во второй части, но я из двух стульев всегда склоняюсь к фэнтезийному, поэтому SL мне ближе по духу.
Это лишь одна из сотен стратегий "старой школы", и от сонма себе подобных она ничем, кроме как фундаментом первоначальной системы и громким именем студии, не отличается. Но я зачем-то продолжаю на протяжении вот уже 20 лет сюда заходить. Может, и у вас так.

Aber welcher haarige Oger dachte sich, dass es eventuellen Spielspaß bringen könnte, wenn es Einheiten gibt, die mir alle meine hart erarbeiteten armen Bogenschützen umbringen und mich, den Robin Hood für Arme, einfach nur zum Armen machen. Diese Hodenkobolde!
Des Weiteren geben mir Merlins Aussagen regelmäßig einen Grund dafür, meine Tastatur in die ewigen Tiefen seines Rektums zu befördern. Wenn ich noch einmal höre, dass sich diese haarige Staubwedel darüber beschwert, dass ihn die Straße erneut erwartet, dann lasse ich ihn auf ewig meinen Bergfried hoch und runter spazieren, den Knecht.
Dabei hat der Mann echt kein Recht dazu sich zu beschweren. Ich beschwöre ihn und parke ihn dann in einer der entlegensten Ecken meiner beschaulichen Festung, nur um ihn dann nur dann herbeizupfeifen, wenn sich einer meiner Opponenten sich mal wieder dazu entschlossen hat, mir einen Drachen auf den königlichen Hals zu hetzen.
"Wir brauchen mehr Holz Mylord!" Meine liebste Phrase! Sie erinnert mich jedes mal daran, wie sehr ich meine Untergebenen doch hasse und, dass ich nun dazu berufen bin, sie dazu zu knechten härter zu arbeiten (diese kleinen Nicht-Kapitalisten).
Man kann in diesem Spiel sein Volk zum zahlen horrend-hoher Steuern zwingen und das erfreut mein altes Kapitalistenherz doch wiederum sehr!
Ich mag die Eisfraktion aber der weiße Boden brennt mir jedes mal meine Hirn-Augen-Kombination durch den Schädel und pulverisiert diese.
Denkt immer daran liebe Kinder: Wenn ihr im Traum eine Toilette seht, nutzt sie besser nicht!

Это по-прежнему ртс про строительство замков, но с огромным уклоном в магию и героев. Вместо нудного ожидания, пока вырастет пшеница, игра бросает вас в гущу событий. Здесь три уникальные кампании.
Король Артур - Классическое благородство, рыцари Круглого стола и Мерлин.
Зигфрид (Лед) - Суровые северные мифы, ледяные гиганты и холодный расчет.
Влад Дракула (Зло) - Мой личный фаворит. Оборотни, вампиры и общая атмосфера трансильванского беспредела.
Почему в это стоит играть в 2026?
Это самая быстрая часть серии. Экономика здесь упрощена, ресурсы добываются быстрее, цепочки производства короче, чтобы вы могли сосредоточиться на осадах.
Летающие летучие мыши, великаны, разрушающие стены одним ударом, и драконы, которые могут в одиночку сжечь целую армию.
Steam Edition: Главный плюс этой версии нормальная поддержка современных систем, работающий мультиплеер через Steam и поддержка высокого разрешения. Больше не нужно танцевать с бубном, чтобы запустить игру на Windows 10 или 11.
Минусы.
Графика - будем честны, модели из 2006 года сегодня выглядят угловато. Но в этом есть свой шарм эпохи.
Упрощение - Если вы фанат хардкорного менеджмента амбара из первой части, вам может показаться, что здесь слишком мало экономики.
Итог.
Stronghold Legends - это идеальный вариант для тех, кто хочет классического геймплея, но в обертке эпического фэнтези. Она не пытается быть серьезным историческим симулятором, и в этом её сила.

Я не знаю каким образом за столько долгий срок я не опубликовал отзыв об этой замечательной игре. Всё начиналось ещё лет 15 назад, когда я играл в стронгхолд 1, стронгхолд крусадер 1, стронгхолд 2... А потом узнал, что существует и эта часть, созданная на одном же движке со вторым стронгхолдом, который всегда был мне очень симпатичен и мною любим. Ещё на старом ноуте, обучаясь в начальной и средней школе, я задротил в пиратку, но потом, овладев стим-аккаунтом, купил её, спустя какое-то время. Боже, благодарю создателей данной игры за столь замечательный продукт! Графика хорошая, кампании отличные и увлекательные, а ностальгия-то какая!!! Прямо сердце щемит и чуть слёзы не наворачиваются! Спасибо!!!!

Polecam tę grę. Fajne frakcje lodu , zła i króla artura. Mi osobiście najbardziej podoba się frakcja lodu. Gra posiada klimat fantasy, grafika i postacie są bardzo ładne. Gra posiada tryb swobodnego budowania co sprawia nie lada przyjemności jeśli nie chcemy brać udziału w kampanii.
We frakcji lodu królowa i król mogli by posiadać więcej zaklęć chociaż 6 jak i we frakcji zła oraz króla artura.
Postacie fantastyczne charakterystyczne dla danej frakcji mogły posiadać swoje charakterystyczne potrawy np. zimy z lodu i śniegu a postacie frakcji zła również swoje potrawy. Trochę dziwnie wygląda kiedy ogród warzywny rośnie w lodowej krainie. Np. przydał by się cykl zmian pór roku w krainie lodu zima całorocznie tylko przy murach i do okoła siedziby w krainie króla artura również zmiany pór roku. A w krainie zła całoroczne lato i gorąc. W swobodnym budowaniu mamy zdarzenia losowe które możemy wywołać które wpływają na kmieci ,zbiory oraz możemy dokonać inwazji. Oprócz tego mamy kampanie oraz tryb potyczek. Podsumowując gra dobra lecz przydały by usprawnienia opisane wyżej.

I have hours and hours of playing this game. I just love it. However, after buying an updated computer a few weeks ago - I can no longer run it. I beg you I beg you to optimize to current PC setups so this game will run on newer rigs. Remaster and do what you do! There just isn't anything I can find like this in the Steam inventory- at least not that I can see. There are some that are similar, but usually the learning curve is steep. Did I say I love this game?
Once, a nostalgic classic, has been rendered to nothing more than a slideshow. The game recently shows extreme fps drops (5fps) regardless of hardware/settings, mostly due to the game requiring software from a long time ago and the devs not optimizing the game.
I really wanted to re-experience the nostalgia of the game, but as soon as thing started to get to mid-game, the previously manageable lag issues ramped up. If I can't get through mid-game, then the game is broken. Can't recommend a broken game to people...
Stronghold Klassiker. Macht immer noch viel Spaß zu spielen.

Similar to Stronghold 2, this edition also carries over all your progress from the original PC release. And just like Stronghold 2, this game is nostalgic for me and an absolute masterpiece.
Unlike Stronghold 2, however, this entry leans far more into RTS action than castle simulation-and that’s perfectly fine! It serves as a great alternative to S2, with streamlined building mechanics, fun new units, and a constant flow of action. It’s not the most balanced game, though!
Steam Workshop integration is (as always) a fantastic addition.
