Too simple, too primitive, too repetative. It is not bad game by itself, problem is that it is mobile game. I don't know where I get it, most likely, from another bundle. I think I will finish all scenarios, but I'm not sure.
I'd give a positive review, but desctription of the game is a blatant lie. All generals are similar, rather, there are maybe 7-8, max 10 different perks, they just improve on level ups. Like "give +5 atk, but remove -4 def". After level up it will be "give +6 atk, but remove -3 def" etc. Landscape and weather make a little impact: unit can have 30-100 atk, and bonus/malus usually is +/-3. It just does not matter in most cases, moreover so, because battle, say, in town gives bonuses to all participants.
Generals again... Some can lead only 7 units, others 8, best 9. It is fixed. Why take general with 7 slots, if you can skip a turn and next one may have 8 or 9 slots?..
Fomations add very little: some units are good in front row, some in second, also second row gives defense bonus. Yes, it matters, but it's obvious, that if some unit will get 100 atk instead of 80, it should be placed into the front row, it is basic logic, not tactics. Of course, should be mentioned that it is autobattler.
Scenarios are the same: capture the town, if you want higher score, do it in short time, capture more and kill everyone.
All of the above isn't bad, something is even good, but overall the game is just mediocre.
Of positive things music and text should be noted, they helped to create some atmosphere after all.

At first glace "Strategy & Tactics: Dark Ages" (from here called STDA, yeah it sounds like a disease) looks like everything a hardcore strategy gamer would want. Collectible leaders ranging from Common to Legendary, lots of varied units, a wide game-play board with lots of areas to conquer, even a level up system. Pretty neat for it’s economic price. Sadly when you jump in STDA you soon realize that the complex strategy look is just that, a look and the game is simple, shallow, and dare I say it… ‘casual’.
It feels like STDA was suppose to be a much grander and complex product than we got with weird cues that feel like they had wanted to do more but for whatever reason they couldn’t. The one move per turn rule is very painful and makes the game dreadfully slow. Naturally your first instinct is to try to speed up movement so you focus on capturing roads, thinking (Like every other game) roads will reduce movement costs. They don’t. In fact… roads don’t do anything outside of give some minor boosts to certain unit performances. In fact… most terrain does nothing except give these small boosts. Movement costs is equal value on everything regardless of what it is so there’s really no point to terrain. What about those unit boosts I was talking about? Small and almost completely useless. The boosts are barely noticeable and will never be useful in large scale. You’re never going to win a fight because of terrain. You might lose less health value per unit, but not enough that you’ll ever feel like it matters. Even on defense the main AI opponents, not the random spawns like bandits, are actually smart enough to not attack you unless it has a chance of winning. This usually means a larger and stronger army and while in an even match a terrain bonus might give you a small edge the fact that you will mainly just be outnumbered means it won’t matter.
Tactics is also painfully absent. Like terrain there are a few abilities or formations that can give your army some small boosts. Again, in many cases this doesn’t matter because your biggest advantage is just being bigger than your enemy. The Dev teams apparently knows this which is why your biggest challenge when starting any scenario is a giant AI deathstack which outnumbers anything you can field early on. You circumvent this by just throwing trash and mercenaries at it until the numbers dwindle. Again, what leads me to believe this was the way the game was meant to be played is the fact that AI armies don’t reinforce. Sometimes they’ll hire a replacement unit, but I’ve never seen them reinforce or heal injured units even when they’re smack dab in the middle of a town they own and you know they have the money because reinforcing injured units is really cheap.
So simplified movement and lack of actual strategy and tactics? Could still be fun, right? Sure, but it’s also unstable. Almost five years after release and bugs are still be reported and fixed. Dev team is fixing stuff so that’s neat. The game is supported, but I still crashed about three times in the past 7 or 10 hours I’ve been playing. Sad thing is, the crashes feel really random and are hard to reproduce not to mention even know what causes it. There this weird thing that if you recruit units and then go to transfer those units to the city garrison the game crashes, no error report. This is random though and sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn’t. Game also has this weird bug that if you alt-tab out to like answer a DM or maybe take a breather the game will randomly think you’ve changed resolution and close out. Again, this is random as sometimes you can alt-tab out no problem and other times the game just… is stupid.
Overall, move along. There’s nothing to see here that is worth your time.
Good concept, terrible execution. The game does crash once every 5-10 turns. The strategic level of this is not great enough to call it a "Strategy" game. This is a grinding game. You need to grind the same level 10 times (20 minutes each) before you can buy the average upgrade, which does scale. So you're doing 1 more game per level upgrade.
By the time you purchase your generals or upgrade your troops, you are going onto the next faction. You are not allowed to use your previous troop types or generals that you grinded so long for.
Only playable with cheating. Otherwise to beat this entire game (which is only roughly 10 levels/maps) it will take you around 200-300 hours of grinding.
If it wasn't for the worthless grinding only to reset you, it'd be 3/5. As is, it's not even worth a 1/5. Not playable.
[b]Strategy and Tactics: Dark Ages[/b] is a casual, pseudohistoric, turn-based strategy game that consists of 9 unlockable scenarios, which reward you with points that you can spend for permanently upgrading your units and hiring better generals. Different units have different strengths, weaknesses, and abilities. Different generals have different passive and active abilities, as well as stats that can be leveled up (up to 7 levels for legendary generals). This means some RPG elements: as generals level up their positive traits improve and negative traits minimise (if they have any in the first place). Likewise, as units progress from rookies to elites (up to 9 levels), they unlock different skills that become better with each level. The pseudohistoric aspect is that the different factions are based on Vikings, Mongols, Persians/Babylonians, Holy Roman Empire, Carolingian Empire, the Hansa, England, France and Ireland — and all of them in the same timeline and geographical area. Additionally, some of the generals are based on real historical figures, such as Genghis Khan and Jean d'Arc.
If you have played CK2, you'll be familiar with the battle system. It's pretty much the same but visualised with cards. The battles are just a numbers game; the strategy part is that you have to take into account the army formations, flank positions, unit composition and numbers, their skills and levels, general traits, as well as terrain and weather effects. The actual battle is autoresolved. You can only watch and replay the rounds.
Weirdly, the units have no maintenance costs, you only pay for recruiting and reinforcing.
Since the AI is not capable of managing economy and, in general, is quite dumb, the gameplay is very easy. The AI opponents don't even declare wars against weaker opponents, unless that's written in the scenario.
Additionally, there are ways to exploit the game: (1) you can incite riots in enemy provinces and then just add them to your territory without declaring a war; (2) you can hire powerful mercenaries and spawn them anywhere in your territory; (3) you can take advantage of the fact that alliances don't mean open borders — you can use that to save on garrisons, when fighting multiple enemies at once; unfortunately, this also plays against you, because your allies are equally useless and you can’t enter their territory without declaring a war.
And, after you have replayed all scenarios, you DO wish to cheese from time to time, since the scenarios are quite long and gameplay involves a lot of grinding and waiting, especially, before you have upgraded your units.
What makes the waiting even longer is that the generals can perform only one of three actions per turn (a special skill, moving and recruiting; only adding, removing or replacing squads does not cost an action point). I really don't see why this was necessary.
Another weird thing is that you can't hire or disband garrison squads in the settlements without having a general in the position. It's a chore, especially, because there's a limit of how many squads per turn a general can hire and switching between recruiting, splitting and battle formation screens more than two times crashes the game.
Speaking of which, the game crashes a lot, even randomly.
Oh, and the tutorial and hints don’t cover all minor rules and details of the game. A few things you have to learn by trial and error.
On the bright side, the artworks are pretty, the units are cool, the scenarios are interesting. And I really liked upgrading the units and then testing them against different troops.
This game had a lot of potential and with more polish, it could have been really great. Unfortunately, its development has been abandoned. You can't even play all factions featured in the game.
However, as a cheap, casual strategy game it might be worth your time. I certainly don't regret purchasing it and had quite a lot of fun. And so can you… if you have patience for grinding and frequent crashing.

부대는 인접한 타일로 이동하여 해당 타일을 점령할 수 있으며,
해당 지역에 코인이 존재하면 턴마다 획득하는 자금이 증가하게 됩니다.
요 자금을 통해 지휘관과 병사의 구매가 가능한거죠.
적 부대가 존재하면 그들과 전투를 진행할 수 있는대
보통 즉시 전투 결과를 확인할 수 있고 원할때에 시뮬레이션을 감상할 수 있습니다.
적의 구성과 배치에 따라서 약간씩 전투 결과가 달라지는 듯 한대,
거의 전투력이 높으면 그냥 이기는 듯 하더군요.
전투 결과에 따라 전멸을 하기도 하고 전략상 후퇴를 하기도 하며
만약 공격측인대 패배를 하면 상대를 밀어내지 못하고 위치에 변동도 없죠.
적들을 밀어내면서 주요 타일들을 점령하는 플레이도 필요하고
자신의 주요타일, 그 중에서 수도를 빼앗기지 않도록 조심해야 하기도 합니다.
타일들을 점령하고 가끔 지휘관들이 보유한 스킬을 발동하면서 전투를 진행하며
상대의 성과 마을을 점령하고 성에서 필요한 병력을 보충하죠.
목표로 하는 지점들을 점령하고 서브 미션들을 수행하면서 포인트를 얻고
이를 소모하여 특성이나 새로운 지휘관 등의 언락도 가능합니다.
아쉬운 점
-전투에 어떤 부분들이 영향을 주는지 자세히 알 수 없음
-적 지역들의 구분과 동맹 여부 등 파악이 어려움
-성장 요소가 크게 없음(영지가 커지는 것 같지는 않고... 지휘관이 성장해도 무엇이 좋아지는지 애매하고...)
Kann jeder gerne testen, macht aber null Spaß, also würde ich an eurer Stelle auf die Rückgaberichtlinen achten und somit hoffentlich aus meinem Fehler lernen.
Wenn man sich das spiel holen wollte, weil man Strategie Spiele mag, sollte man zu anderen greifen. Da gibt es sehr viele bessere Spiele.
Wenn man denkt, man will einfach einen Zeitvertreib, gibt es ebenfalls mehrere deutlich bessere Alternativen.
What a mistake to buy this. I didn't believe all the reviews about crashing, but this game crashes every few minutes. And I have a high end computer. Don't waste your money,. Terrible!
It looks minimalist and stylish, but the game itself is mediocre. Gameplay better fits for a board game, but a quite simple one.
I would only recommend this game to very new players to wargames or players under 12. The reason for this is because the game is to simple, it offers little to no depth of play .

Examples; You have to manually click units one territory at a time every single time instead of a multi move system. This gets tiresome really quickly. Also, for a game that has strategy in its name. It does not have very much in the way of empire improvements. The only one I saw was a general that let you build a fort and another that increased your income but only in certain terrain. Very minimal to say the least. Then you start in the second scenario with a kingdom but you get rebels in your back yard which get stronger and your expending all your resources just to hold your own instead of doing what the scenario asked, conquering a nieghboring empire. Even on sale I would not recommend this game unless you are new to wargaming in general. There is just not enough here to keep it in your library. No multiplayer or editor kills this game.
I was expecting elements of grand turn-based strategy on par with other titles. Instead this is a dumbed-down game that seems to be a gimmick. No saves, no real 'battles' just number crunching, no diplomacy development or contextual focus for inter-national relations (other nations will attack you without any formal notification from the AI), there is no rationale for who is allied to who, the game unfolds at a snail's pace with most generals moving one single space per turn....just too much wrong with it. Like a car with a nice paint job, it's a disaster when you look under the hood and see that the engine isn't completely built. What a waste...

This game has huge potential and interesting mechanics. All ruined by two things:
1) NO SAVES. You need to complete each scenario in one sitting, you can't close the game and resume on the other day.
2) CRASHES. You can expect at least one crash every couple scenarios. Usually at a late turn... which means all progress lost (see reason #1).
Due to these two shortcomings this game is not worth the time or the money. I seriously regret buying it.

Don't buy this game unless you like rng and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ AI. You wont recieve any notification if another nations declares war on you they just take what they wanted, the starting armies in EVER scenario are randomized aswell as the leaders. To top all this poor quality that belongs on a mobile, the AI will consistently flucuate in numbers (Which your own army lose strength for no reason.) I regret buying this game.

This game is very, very simple at it's core. The most similar game that comes to mind for me would be Battle for Wesnoth. This simplicity however did not prevent me from having a decent amount of fun, once you get the hang of it you begin to realize that the difficulty is mostly related to scripted events, like friends becoming enemies or a single army spawning in the middle of your lands, but that still didnt stop me from enjoying the game. It's accurately priced, the possible sales make it even a better offer. As a casual time filling game - it's great.
This not a strategy game, it is a moblie game relying almost entirly on scripted events and bull---- starting balance proportions to feign difficuly. Its boring, frustrating and has all the stragetic depth of a limp d--k.
I have to say, this is good! It works perfectly, is quite simple and is just a really fun experience. However, I suggest adding an online mode, as I think it would be quite fun. Overall, its pretty good.
No hotseat, not much scenarios,and the other games have more options to play. Please add them and there must be a new update about this modes
Its a good concept and all that, but I paid money for the conquest of Europe expansion, and it is too laggy to be able to play it, and it could be bigger. Also, you need to make an antiquity version. It would be great to lead legions against parthian horse archers and Macedonian phalanxes, not to mention spartan phalanxes. Idk why you don't have that already
It's pretty good I like the game, it needs good strategy, there's nothing that's really bs about. Honestly my only problem is when you only have a certain amount of turns to complete a mission. That gets on my nerves. Online battles would be cool.

I adored the gameplay I really did, I didn't play such a fun game in years. But I hate that you can't beat a game after a certain amount of turns. Maybe a headsup to the creators, maybe you could make it to where it is possible to have unlimited turns. Maybe an easy mode.

The game is excellent and very addictive. I hope in the future there will be additions and improvements. For example, the possibility of upgrading locks (moat, palisade, etc.). In general, there are many ideas. I wish the developers more fantasy and courage))

I like the game very much, and I would absolutely support more with money as long as I see some sort of update to the gameplay, maybe the graphics. Please update with some new things! Buggy as heck and crashes even just when attempting to change screen resolution. The tutorial gives so little information, I feel as though I'd be better off just attempting to trial and error my way through learning the game. Unfortunately, I can't recommend the game in this state. Pity.

J'ai un jour lu un commentaire tout ce qu'il y a des plus plaisant (faut dire que faire une éva de jeu, c'est déja pas terrible= c'est comme passé les pied sous la table,quand on a rien fait!; alors un commentaire d'éva= ce serait comme critiquer la critique gastronome d'un routard, qui ne fait plus ses plats depuis 20 ans..c'est un peu toujours provocateur et pas franchement indespensable)..bref, pour revenir au commentaire: il disait que je faisais plus d'évaluationn négative que positive)...Alors..Voilà a quel genre de critique; moi, le "fin gourmet des jeux" je n'échappe pas!...
Le métier gratuit que j'exerce ,dois-je le rappeler est payé sans heure aux nombreux tests et ma foi, j'achété toujours mes jeux, afin de ne pas tricher ou alors, je n'en fais pas une éva..Bien des malins..n'entendent rien à l'éthique ou à la morale...

Néanmoins, si je vous raconte ma Life ("le vieux", c'est moi), C'est parce que la tendance est de plus en plus à des jeux beau, qui achéte de gros moteur graphique et qui donc n'ont plus beaucoup de sous à mettre dans de vrais développeurs...Disons-le franchement..les grosses boites de passionné ont marqué les genres (diablo , Les premiers total war.., les dooms..turok...Dans le genre rpg/ On ne se contentait pas de juste sortir une baguette magique pour Eradiquer une planéte...ou un fps sans stratégie de groupe!
Donc et oui, si vous me voyez venir avec mes grands sabots..C'est pour bien vous rappeler que je n'arrête pas de tirer la sonnette d'alarme sur les jeux, qui sont vraiment speciaux..au point de faire plantage, défaut de traduction..mauvais équilibrage...Et même les endless..ou encore pour etre précis ce jeu..qui est un Patchwork de l'Histoire médiéval ne me détrompe pas..sur la tendance: "C'est beau, mais c'est con"..

Le graphisme (fééru d'animation..passé votre tour..dans le genre jeu en tour par tour..c'est le genre ringard; mais qui n'assume pas)..Parce que si les dessins sont jolis..cela reste très limité (dans le vieux monde de l'info-graphisme)
La traduction (un anglais limité ou un russe limité?! pas d'autres choix, vous m'excuserez..mais je suis meme pas sur que cela soit Russe..mais n'allez pas l'acheter juste pour m'apprendre à me divertir sur les langues..quand je joue..j'ai tendance à oublier aussi que le monde est si varié..mais 2 langues...C'est un peu limite; surtout qu'il ya pas masse infos/quoique 2 a 3 objectifs qu'il faut bien comprendre...)
Quand au gameplay..Je sais, je suis pas tendre...mais franchement..les unités ennemi popent là ou on ne s'y attend pas...et comme on bouge de case en case..c'est une galére pour les rattraper..;Le pire; c'est que la map est limité , par votre implantation prè-établie et que vous devez, en gros suivre le script pour avoir le plus de point..
Autant vous dire, que cela repose non sur la déduction ou le combat/ Mais carrément sur la connaissance du script/ qui vous fera savoir que ici popent le gros de l'armée/ et là des renforts ou des pilleurs....C'est important; car comme dit..ils pillent en case par case et comme vos déplacements sont lents/..autant dire, que vous allez devoir recommencer..plusieurs fois..pour coller au clou...
Alors, moi, qui suis pas des plus tendres, avec la jeunesse.;croyez-le ou pas;.;je préfère un jeune jeu , qui s'assume..qu'un truc , qui nous apprend à marcher droit et à coller à un script..autant qu'après il suffit juste d'optimiser ses troupes à fond....
Les choix en combats sont trop basiques/ les unités, meme pas upgradable; le choix de vos commandements ,aléatoire peut meme vous donner des troupes, qui sont pas de taille...(ex: 2eme map de la campagne...faut parfois refaire pour connaitre le script/ les lieux de popent/comme avoir des bons commandeurs, avec les besoins en recrutements...pour les choix de déploiements, qui sont, comme dit..imposé, en lieu..alors si une grosse armée vient par ici..faut évidement un commandeur avec des compétences adéquates..ce qui hélas..n'est meme pas toujours le cas....et cela énerve quelque peu!
C'est à dire, que le scipt est inconnu...Mais pour autant on vous donne des moyens discutables pour le connaitre..
Alors, bien sûr, recommencer c'est pas la mer à boire...Mais ce qui me fit arreter..c'est de m'apercevoir que les missions gagnées me donnent des points..et qu'au final..ces points servent à débloquer des panthéons pour retrouver vos généraux dans les missions....c'est du genre faire 7 missions par générals(commandeur)..et je vais vous dire un truc: Quand vient le moment ou enfin vous avez tous vos généraux..(7 fois 7, en moyenne)..donc une moyenne de 40 missions..Vous vous dites..non seulement tu t'es farci 40 missions pour enfin jouer avec le roster que tu aimes..mais en plus tu compte pas les parties foireuses, à connaitres le script..à rater des objectifs, car parasités par le parcours de l'allié..ou carrément, pris en défaut..de ne pas avoir ce qu'il faut là ou il faut...
Ce n'est pas un jeu de stratégie..c'est un jeu de devinette et de persévèrance...pour coller à la bonne marche de chaque mission..Et ben..devinez..Moi, je passe!
Vous l'aurez devinez..non seulement la tendance des jeux est au beau mais con...Mais , en plus certain..devrait comprendre; que si mes nombreuses évaluations (50 sur plus de 100 jeu)/ ont une moyenne basse..c'est assurément parce qu'un bon jeu demande certe des moyens, mais du temps à être fait..et que à part une tendance à vouloir faire des jeux tout les 2 ans (comme les films)..ou des dlc(s) tous les 6 mois..histoires de dire "non on est pas MMORPG; mais on vous enfile quand meme...)...ON ne devrait pas assister à trop de jeu de ce genre..là...qui vous fait comprendre...que bien des gens ont le droit de vivre, en s'essayant au développement..que certes si les idées sont intéressantes...Merde! il faut quand meme offrir plus que des scripts foireux....pour faire perdurer le plaisir chez l'adulte: Vous savez ce plaisir qui ne vous fera pas déccrocher la partie avant de Mourrir...Et ben..là.. je suis mort en 2 seconde et je ne reviendrais pas....

I found it to be an ok game. A simple distraction from other games momentarily, I played through a few scenarios, but it was only ok. Overall I'd say 3 or 4 out of 10.

I love the concept and love the strategy involved in this game. In future games i want a mode where you can take over the whole world. It would really illustrate what the war could have been like
The most annoying thing in this game is there are bugs in this game that periodically force close this game when I am playing this mission and were in all other Strategy and Tactics games. Yet for so many times (in 3 years) I have commented about this and HeroCraft took no action other than irreleva...
Gekocht in de steam sale, maar ik had wat meer tactiek verwacht. Het spel lijkt wel potentieel te hebben, maar zoals het nu is uitgewerkt is het gewoon niet echt leuk. Misschien als je er dieper induikt, maar ik heb na twee uur besloten om mijn geld terug te vragen
Очень понравилась! Быстро осваемая, нормальное управление. Не легкая. Хорошая и толково сделанная стратегия с элементами RPG (что очень радует), без эльфов, гномов или какой либо нечисти. Только люди- без глупых фантазий =)
This game is promising, but it crashes constantly. At least once every half hour or so of play. Until this is fixed, it doesn't really matter how good the game is as it is too frustrating to play and I would not recommend it. If these crashing problems are fixed I will update this review.
Just as i began to enjoy the game it bugged out and refuses to start up. its a good game and its a shame that it stopped working. I've waited forever for a patch but it hasnt come yet

Bueno, es muy entretenido y la mecánica cobra mas sentido cuanto mas juegues, los mercenarios, a pesar de lo que he leido por ahí, son importantes pero no te van a dar la victoria final, de hecho los "finados" suelen ser los mismos mercenarios.
This game has potential however does not come close to living up to it.
Apart from the glitches and crashes, the game mechanics dont make much sense, there is no real information about troop types/advantages or why the force that suddenly invaded from nowhere right in the middle of your stronghold that was garisoned with troops can kick your ass even though they have half the attack points and dont look like they should have any real advantage.
I love hard to win games, but I hate games that are made to be hard by being rediculous or simply unfair or nonsensical.
If you manage to survive the first part of a level then the rest is just a slow grind with little in the way of actual strategy or thought.
This game had much potential with it simple battle-mechanics. Replayability is decent, you have the armoury to upgrade units and the pantheon where you can retain favourite generals.
Levels can be replayed and you get same amount of money etc

Хотелось бы видеть большую стратегическую карту - как в Total War мировая. (но может я ее еще не открыл,не знаю)

Экономику особо не завезли,а ведь в войне - это основопологающая вещь. (тут могло быть оправдание про типа тут только тактика и так далее, но я не соглашусь: тактика без стратегии - ничто. А в стратегии обязательно предусматривается экономика)
Agree with all the reviews that tutorial is terrible and strategy is minimal. Looks pretty, but gave up on the tutorial, especially after I realized it sold for so much.
It's one of the very few strategy games I've ever played, and to be honest it’s not exactly my game, but it’s not bad at all.

В этой игре намешано всё - средневековые рыцари, мушкетеры, викинги, Индия с боевыми слонами. В итоге мы получили довольно интересный и весьма оригинальный коктейль из эпох и культур, который, впрочем, ощущается вполне естественно.
Всегда мечтал поиграть в настольную игру на компьютере и теперь моя мечта сбылась. Смело берите игру, если вы такой же фанат настолок, как я.
This game, although sold as full released, is abandoned; only 9 scenarios available (including tutorial scenario), no editor, minimal battle mechanic, few different types of units... don't buy it, in a standard FREE game-demo there is far more content than in this half finished game.

Les victoires dans les missions sont récompensés avec un nombre de rewards qu'on pourra utiliser pour améliorer les armes, les troupes, acheter des généraux plus puissants .
L'enregistrement des parties sont automatiques, mais tu peux reloader ou recommencer si tu as raté ta mission!
Bravo aux développeurs pour ce magnifique jeu. Et qui sait une suite avec cette fois ci , avec le solo un multiplayer°-°
This game delivers some depth in thinking your strategy and tactics in terms of choosing the most effective formation and unit combination. The game might seem a bit difficult at first but once you start grasping the battle mechanics, the game becomes pretty easy to beat although somewhat time consuming depending on which scenario and how much upgrade you have invested on certain type of units. This game delivers some fun and challenge while providing a reasonable challenge and replayability for the price. What makes this game quite replayable once you beat all the scenarios is that you can choose and spend your glory points to keep highly skilled generals and use them again in other scenarios. Also once you have invested in weapon and armor for certain type of troops of your choosing, that upgrades stay for good so when you play other scenarios, you start those scenarios with upgraded stats for the units that you have invested in.
Although this game provides some fun with interesting combat mechanics, I have to say this is a game with some great potentials that are not fully developed. I will list them below:
1. Players are unable to try all different factions and units because of the limitations in current scenarios. (Ex. There are no scenarios that allows players to play with Caroligian faction or Holy Alpine faction so you are unable to try some of their units such as Caroligian Knights or imperial trappers.)
2. Besides adding more scenarios, the game will become infinitely more replayble if players have options to create custom games with random map generator that will allow choosing factions of their liking and also being able to set higher difficulty with more glory point rewards proportional to the level of challenge.
3. AI behavior definitely needs some work in order to make the game more challenging; Ex. Once you release enemy generals on ransom, the AI too often leave those generals with no troops instead of replenishing them with fresh army. The AI should be programmed to continuously hire more generals and recruit more troops instead of just sitting there once their army are beaten. On higher difficulty, the neutral AI players should be more prone to backstab or declre war on human players instead of fighting among themselves and thus making it easy for human players; in some scenarios you just need to wait a few turns until AI factions kill each other and you simply start taking their lands with little resistance. Also I never see AI generals using their special abilities such as building forts or storehouses so the AI is almost always poor financially and can not afford to create more army.
4. Battle mechanic needs improvement particularly when you are trying to launch attack on several enemy army on the same tile. The most idiotic aspect of it right now is that when you attack a multiple enemy army stack on the same square, your single army stack either has to kill all of them by itself or die trying even when you have your other armies on that same tile available to launch attack. This can result in losing your best generals and your experienced units because there are only 9 units you can give to any single army per general and no matter how good your general and how experienced your units are, there is no way to beat 3 or more full stack enemy army with your single army stack. Human players should have an option to pick another fresh army stack to fight the next battle on that same tile instead of having to wait until your initial army stack gets decimated trying to fight multiple enemy army stacks all by itself. After each battle, the human players should be presented with a choice to whether to keep fighting with that same army which might have taken heavy casualty in previous battle, or pick a fresh army to fight the second battle with one of enemy army stacks on that same tile and so on. This way your army is not forced to fight to the very last man and get destroyed even when you have reinforcements ready to fight on that same tile. I think this issue can be resolved either by letting players select more than one army at the same time and have them all attack all attack simultaneously instead of one by one, or by giving players an option whether to choose different army stack for the next battle taking place on that same tile on that same turn.
5. Lastly the game crashes often on some scenarios. I had to keep restarting the games multiple times when playing Babylonian and Mongolian scenarios so please fix this issue as well.
Overall, developers did great jobs on coming up with this game but please put some more contents to it and make the game more challenging by working on the issues I mentioned above. The game has a great potential to become even better with proper development.

According to the tags on store page, this is a "sandbox RTS grand strategy atmospheric real-time with pause dark fantasy RPG strategy" game. These tags are completely wrong and deceiving. This is only a "minor" (casual) strategy boardgame, for there's nothing to do beyond the simplest supremacy/domination victory by moving and killing pieces.
Game is very simple and you win by using cheeze tactics like buying merc armies and riots to destroy ememy since your own troops will never get the job done. It also crashes a LOT. and in my current game it crashes every turn and riots do not work (they crash it). I regret purchase even at 45% discount. has some potential if not so buggy and full of cheeze tactics.
I have no idea how this game could receive a 73% positive rating. It does have potential but despite constant crashing has so many design flaws that it is mediocre at best.
The tutorial is a prime example. Instead of explaning the game it manages to run you through a "click this, click that, Horray you won, now you know the game" routine. Nowhere in this game the stats are explained. Hmm my warrior has an attack of 19 and a defense of 20 ... what does that mean? Yeah it´s better than an attack of 18? Brilliant ... but what happens when an attack of 20 hits a defense value of 10? Or one of 20?
Generals movement is a pretty big offender in my book as well. 90% of the generals can only move 1 province per turn. And so can your enemies ... meaning catching a fleeing enemy is a slog that takes several turns ... what is even worse ... if an enemy sends a 0 Troop General he can still claim your provinces ... meaning you now have to send a General of yours or will lose your income to a single General riding through your backlands.
Story ... dont get me started ... let´s say I was playing a scenario where I was leading an English Nobleman feuding with another ... not only was the most of the map occupied by French-Neutrals (that remain Neutral until you attack them, and otherwise just move troops aimlessly around their lands ... slowing down the AI Turns) ... nope suddenly I am attacked in the Back by a Mongolian Horde... that is just bonkers and shows the lack of polish this game received before release.
I could continue to pick the game appart, but that seems like more efford than what it´s worth.
Guys ... dont get this game ... if you want a fun Turn Based Strategy Game in medieval settings grab Battle Brothers ... that is just 1000% better. Or one of the older Heroes of Might and Magic (3 is brilliant) ... or Banner Saga .... or Civilization or ... or .. god there are so many better games out there. Just dont get this...

Все остальное кроме арта. Музыкальное оформление убого, интерфейс плох, битв тут как таковых нет - все что можно это расположить войска перед битвой, чтобы они давали как можно больше бонусов к атаке/защите. Герои жалкие, спецабилки скучные и их мало.
Вердикт: название игры оправдывает себя только на 50%. Strategy & Tactics тут нет, зато сплошные Dark Ages. Все плохо, не стоит ни своих денег, ни вашего времени.
I have just started this game. Though I am veteran board gamer and computer gamer for 46 and 36b yearrs each respectfully. This game has a lot of potential to do many things!! If we as consumers purchase this game and supprt this studio, I feel we will get a great return on our investment. They have laid out some great ideas and impliments that could lead to some very great games and add ons or DLC! Buy this game to get more of thier innovative works!!!
This game had much potential but the simple (close to non existing) battle-mechanics totally ruin the game for me.
There is no interaction for the player no "game" in the battle mechanics -whatsoever.
On top you can watch the battles after knowing the outcome - what makes no sense for me.
I made my point in the early access time and was told this would change - it didnt.

Very good and simple game focused on generals, formations and strategic movements (not single battle tactict, but it's OK for me). Very interesting also the weather and the place of battle modifiers. IMO this game should be a base for a napoleonic or civil war era wargame.

Бои на автомате, экономики нет, по стилю и качеству графики немногно напоминает warlords 2, если кто помнит, только warlords гораздо интереснее.
Достаточно хорошая игра, но уровень сложости высоковат, сразу после обучения миссия числящаяся простой, хотя таковой не является, плюс ни каких сейвов, даже в рамках одного хода, любая ошибка не простительна.
Несмотря что бой достаточно линейно расчитывается, элементов случайности, покрайней мере я не обнаружил, предсказать его результаты трудно, потому что учитвается масса факторов, включая ланшафт и погоду, что скорее хорошо, но дополнительно усложнет игру.
Не хватает хоть какой то экономики, ибо кроме налогов нет ничего, даже содержания войска.

Strategy & Tactics: Dark Ages is a very fun to play and indepth game that it keeps you playing in a Game of Throwns style fight for your family, (regardless of which faction you pick) youll want to expand your empires to the far corners of the map. Over all I love this game, its a perfect example of 3 dimentional chess, your actions my cost you in the game. Really love the series i just wish the dlc would appear. 10/10 game.
Overall a good game, Sometimes glitches here and there. Plays like simplified total war...only problem is the the battles. Otherwise, one of my favourite wargames.
A very good game but slightly complicated if your new. The game can be very challenging if you are new to wargames, but if not then it's no problem to get stuck right in.

its all right nice graphics nice game just diferent to the other wargames. Each faction has its own large roster and unique units, the game has very impactful mechanics.
В последнее время выходит очень мало хороших хардконых проектов, которые заставляют попотеть и напрячь весь свой игровой опыт. Интересно, красиво, сложно и просто отлично. Ждал, пока выйдет в релиз, не хотел брать ранний доступ. Но, в итоге, игра не разочаровала. Затягивает и дает хороший челлендж.
Чувствую, буду ещё долго залипать в нее вечерами.

Interface is awfull. There are several factions on the map, and it is not clear - who is enemy, who is friend, who is neutral. Would I be able pass throw that territories without declaring war to someone?
What should I actually do to "raise a riot" to pass tutorial?
The battles are not tactical, they just go on by temselfs, you should just put troops in some order. And this rules are also not clear. Even if they are clear, they are like "bad wether, light infantry +-1 to defense +-1 to attack, calvalry +-1 to attack", and generally you won't do much intresting thinking with that, maybe you would spent time calculating what units do you have and what units do have an opponent and maybe you shuold wait a turn, but that won't be fun anyway.

Very addicting, satisfying game... Not too difficult to learn but challenging, many great mods available, nice graphics and sound, fantastic setting, lots of replay value. Overall, this is one of my favorite wargames.

Люблю стратегии. После серии Total War скрины DA казались убогими какими-то, устаревшими. Чисто из любопытства купил, установил, запустил...
...И пропал. Игра супер!
Игра понравится в первую очередь тем, кто в "Total War" всей эпичности батальных сцен предпочитает кнопку "автобой". Другими словам, она для стратегов, тактика здесь сводится к выбору формации ваших войск. Сам бой вам даже не покажут, если захотите посмотреть - найдите сообщение о результатах боестолкновения и там нажмите "посмотреть бой". Отряды прокачиваются, как и командующие ими генералы. Кроме того, в кузнице за специальные очки, которые дают за выполнение заданий сценариев, можно улучшать экипировку ваших солдат, а любимых генералов можно за те же очки занести в пантеон и призывать в другие сценарии. Прокачка очень грамотная, она реализована так, что пригодится на протяжении всей игры и даже переигровок. Теоретически вы сможете раскачаться до того, что станете сминать стальной лавиной даже самых крепких противников. А разве не в этом смысл? Оформление игры небросское, но выполнено со вкусом. Интерфесу, конечно, есть куда улучшаться, но в целом и он неплох. Сложность игры высока и регулируется лишь выбором сценария. Почувствовать себя несокрушимым завоевателем вам дадут только в обучающем сценарии, а дальше нужно будет крепко задумываться над каждым ходом и внимательно читать всё, что пишут. Сохранений по требованию нет, только при выходе, как в "Dark Souls", например. Мне игра понравилась, она затягивает и рождает желание разбираться в её во многом неочевидной механнике. Надеюсь на дальнейшее развитие этого проекта.
Задумка неплохая, так как она такая одна, но слишком много ненужных задач, из-за чего постоянные поражения, отсутствие свободной игры. За идею +, но вот над реализацией стоит поработать, пока что -.
Irgendwie werde ich mit diesem Spiel nicht wirklich warm. Bei "Strategy & Tactics: Dark Ages" handelt es sich um ein sehr rudimentäres Strategiespiel - die Taktik besteht lediglich darin, entsprechende Einheiten und Formationen bei seinen Heerführern (Generäle) entsprechend zu konfigurieren, denn der Kampt läuft dann völlig automatisch ab. Die Hauptaufgabe besteht darin seine Generäle von A nach B zu senden (natürlich Runde für Runde). Die K.I. ist leider nicht besonders schlau, die Auswahl der momentan verfügbaren Kampagnen ist auch relativ mager (6-7). Auch die Vorgehensweise innerhalb eines Szenarios ist nicht so offen, wie es sich auf dem ersten Blick erschließt.
Die Grafik bzw. die handgezeichneten Elemente sehen wirklich sehr schön aus. Momentan fehler aber einfach noch zu viel.

Couple glitches, Had an issue where if your windows desktop scaler wasn't set to 100% when at 4k you had mouse issues, devs seem to have fixed it now (im at 150 btw)

Что можно сказать про эту игру... Слабоватый интерфейс, и сама она принадлежит к довольно редкому классу - это варгейм, и никак не "стратегия". Тут нет ни дипломатии, ни экономики, ни технологий. А что есть?
1. Набор сценариев. В них половина интереса, ибо сценарии трудные и витиеватые. Через N ходов правда, те сценарии что я пока видел - переходят в категорию "убей всех и захвати все". Но первая половина партии доставляет.
Чтоб пройти какой-нибудь сценарий придется поднапрячься. Я правда не уверен что реально тут что-то пройти с первого раза (кроме туториала конечно). Или даже со второго. В общем есть над чем поразмыслить.
Пожалуй только слишком много мяса приходится использовать, и слишком много пота вытирать платочком.
2. Битвы, много битв. Отряды и генералы прокачиваются, если не умирают.
Но самый спорный вопрос, и так бывает во многих варгеймах - битвы есть, а вот тактики скорее нет. И не потому что в бою нельзя рулить. Вроде и можно отряды перед боем расставлять в какую-нибудь формацию, раскидывать по флангам и линиям. Но есть тут несколько особенностей.
Как правило для генерала и доступного ему набора юнитов существует какой-то наилучший вариант. Или их совсем немного. И выбрав его - уже практически нет смысла эту формацию менять. Независимо от того с кем предстоит сражаться.
Ну скажем если у меня 10 мушкетеров в ряд, то на что, простите, я могу это поменять? Ни на что. А если у меня четыре копейщика, 2 ландскнехта и 4 арбалетчика, то есть ли смысл выбирать что-то кроме - 4 копейщика в центре в первом ряду, ландскнехты позади, а арбалетчики по флангам? Ну можно арбалетчиков поставить в центр, а копейщиков перекинуть на фланги, но таки копейщики потеряют свой бонус. Честно сказать, довольно трудно просчитать - может ли второй вариант оказаться выгоднее.
Вобщем потенциально, в каких-то ситуациях, и если мозги не перегреются в попытке просчитать эту механику боя, то быть может окажется что есть альтернативные варианты расстановки армии, лучше самой очевидной. Но это довольно непросто сделать.
Вот мне к примеру сейчас предстоит штурмовать город с 10 мушкетерами. Как я буду это делать - не знаю еще. Но скорее всего закидаю мясом. Я не вижу каких-то тактических вариантов которые мне могли бы помочь. Есть пару подходящих наемников, но ведь они там явно полягут все (если уже не в земле). Так что даже если чего и придумаю, все равно без мяса не обойдусь.

Сюжет и подача истории.
Качественно проработаный дизайн юнитов вполне в духе темных веков (тут и правда нет бронелифчиков и отчаянного фентези с фаерболами, а арт выглядит просто великолепно)
Стратегический элемент здесь тоже на хорошем уровне.

В управлении хочется таскать камеру по зажатию ЛКМ и перемещению мышью.
При потере провинции из описания результатов хода непонятно что и где произошло, приходится рыскать по карте и анализировать что и где приключилось.
Игра своих денег стоит, вполне себе такая стратегия в довольно редком сеттинге. Давно хотел посжигать вражеские города отрядами суровых викингов. И да, в прохождении наемники рулят!
Увидел ссылки на Доминионсы. Такого сейчас почти не делают. Увидел что минусуют. Купил - чтобы поставить плюс и поддержать. Но увы.
Увы, не впечатлило. На самом деле жаль.
Доминионами тут и не пахнет.
Может идея была и неплохая - но реализация подкачала.
Идея генералов - которые в основном все с недостатками, которые превращают их однозадачных буратин (может или атаковать или защищаться).
Идея расстановки, сводящаяся к плюсикам за рядность,
и совершенно очевидный вопрос - "а что делать с отрядами с потерями?". Кнопки пополнения я не нашел, а если отряды нельзя пополнять - на кой ляд там их прокачка? Они до нее в основном не доживают.
И наймите кого-нибудь, кто умеет в интерфейсы, тыкать в это - просто утомительно.

my review is probably a neutral but there isnt an option for that
so it will have to be a negative instead.
Я конечно все понимаю, ранний доступ, все дела. Но пока могу сказать об игре только одно - ЛЕПУХА. Вот нахрена кичится исторической достоверностью, если у вас Дартаньяны с Синоби на слонах воюют? Зачем придумывать сложныю систему построений и механику боя, если сам бой проходит на автомате. Не ну серьезно, все что от вас зависит - поставить чувака с перком "+1 если в первом ряду" в, сюрприз, в первый ряд. Отсюда, кстати второй косяк. Я наизусть должен помнить перки всех дартаньянов, чтобы составить отряды в правильное построение? Перед мной армия условных "Имперских скаутов на гипопотамах", у меня не мение условные "Оборванцы с метлами". И в какое постоение я их должен собрать? "Пьяный журавль, бьющий ключом"? В свое время много тапков полетело в огород "Ендлес Спейс" за невозможность управления боем. Но там ты мог выбирать тактику флота. А тут последний выживший оборванец принесет мне весть о "Славной мясорубке". И нахрена мне возможность просмотра боя который уже проигран? Причем, повторюсь это решает не рандом, а именно механика боя. Она тут есть, но работает на автомате.
Еще одна притензия. Вот почему во время между ходами нельзя было показать ход врага? Вот нахрена мне эта мини игра "Найди армию генерала Уолли"? Не ну серьезно. Завершил ход и... город засыпает просыпается Ктулху. Всё что случилось между ходами заносится в список длиннее бороды Навухудоносора. И там собственно и ищите, победили ли вы или вам зад надрали монголы.
В заключении главная претензия. Эта игра тактика? Ну вы вроде как собераете отряды в построение и двигаете армии по провинциям. И все. Это стратегия? Ну вы вроде как управляете городами, но там можно только закупится юнитами. И все. Пока больше всего это напоминает игру по какой то заслуженной настолки.
П.С. Вот описание у юнитов просто блеск. Серьезно, очень креативно.
По итогам полного релиза оптимизма поубавилось. Игра-то отличная, но очень скудная на кол-во сценариев. Задал на форуме вопрос по поводу пополнения контента, но ответа не получил.
