I am 32 years old.
My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.
When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.
Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.
With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.
After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.
Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.
Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.
Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.

Un juego de dungeons en 2D, bastante bonito, buena ambientacion, musica, sonidos, sos un personaje que es como una especie de pintura rupestre y luchas contra otras pinturas rupestres (bastante pintoresco y divertido tengo que admitir).
Tenes posibilidad de mejorar Stats y armamento, tenes como un shop, esta bastante pobre y sin pulir pero la idea es interesante y no esta tan mal ejecutada como parece. Destaco como positivo que tiene cooperativo, logros y cromos, como negativo que la musica se venda por separado, no estoy de acuerdo con eso.
7/10 - Si se hubiera mejorado la propuesta podia ser interesante, sobre todo con algun Workshop para agregar mas contenido y demas.

Stones of Sorrow is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. This one has a couple of gimmicks. It's supposed to be a "metroidvania" which means as you explore you unlock abilities and you can go back to old areas and access things you couldn't. Secondly instead of crap 2D retro pixel "art" the developers opted for "real cave paintings", but given the caveman you control is a caveman with a battleaxe, I call shenanigans. Nice work with the cavemen knowing at least how to forge bronze or copper weapons though. So if you think this is going to be even vaguely historically accurate based on the "real cave drawings" claim, no.
From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
While there are options to change the resolution for the game, all this does is scale up the simplistic 2D art assets used to make the game, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. Without any other substantial graphics tweaks, it's not possible for gamers to improve the lacklustre 2D visuals.
Bewilderingly, the game doesn't include proper audio controls, so you can't turn off the annoying background music, you'll need to alt+tab out and stop the music using the Windows sound mixer. This is obviously not okay and it's unclear why the developers chose not to include this basic feature.
The controls and game handling are notably very floaty and imprecise. It's janky and unsatisfying to play... and any experienced gamer will tell you, the handling, responsiveness and general gameplay feel of the control scheme must be well polished for this kind of game to succeed. Unfortunately, this is something the developer seems to have phoned in, with little to no apparent gameplay testing or polish done.
The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers.
PC gamers will be insulted by the presence of console peasant children's toy controller prompts, despite this being on PC. This never even got released on consoles. Did they try? Was it rejected? Or did they just get confused and think Steam is where all the console peasants like to hang out? Developers should try to be aware which platform they're developing for.
These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
You don't have to take my word about how bad the game is, we can measure the interest in a game by how much people bothered to play it. Stones of Sorrow has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game absolutely failed to capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for killing a "trader", which you can do in the first 30 seconds of starting the game, but only around 4 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. That's a tiny, tiny proportion of gamers who even bothered with this. Ouch.
Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this isn't consistent with the achievement stats, that show only 4 percent of players bothered playing the game for any reasonable amount of time. How is it possible for this game to have so many concurrent players who weren't even playing the game? Trading cards. Players will use card idling software to collect the cards and sell them, but this won't trigger any achievements in-game. That tells us people only really bought this game for trading cards, and that's a damning indictment of the woeful quality. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with no merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards.
Stones of Sorrow is relatively cheap at $3 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.

Stones of Sorrow - настоящий арт-хаус, неотесанный и хардкорный, который подкупает своей самобытностью, но отталкивает недостатком заботы автора о геймерах: непосредственно в самой SoS практически не объясняется, как играть в нее "правильно". Поэтому если покупатель не догадается прочитать объемное сообщение от разработчика в ответ на один из негативных обзоров в Steam (где описаны совершенно неочевидные нюансы местного геймплея), то велика вероятность, что он распрощается со строптивой игрой через полчаса после старта и влепит ей негативную оценку. Однако поскольку автор действительно потрудился над проработкой игрового процесса, я считаю несправедливым так просто списывать данный проект со счетов.
Технически, SoS - это roguelight: после смерти персонажа игрок вроде как может повлиять на баланс игры, прокачав главгерою очки силы да здоровья или выбив себе скидку у торговцев на все дальнейшие забеги. Вот только прокачка здесь стоит огромных денег, которые можно добыть преимущественно за убийство врагов - и в большинстве случаев умирать герой будет гораздо раньше, чем наберет сумму, нужную для улучшения статов (само собой, после гибели все деньги исчезают). Да и если наберет - бонусы обычно оказываются смехотворными: +3 к жизни (капля в море по меркам SoS) или увеличение шанса критической атаки на пару процентов. Единственным очевидно полезным навыком оказывается каннибализм - способность повышать уровень HP за счет поедания трупов врагов - но и здесь протагонист может рандомно "подавиться" куском мяса и умереть на ровном месте.
Таким образом, этот roguelight больше похож на настоящую roguelike: стоит умереть, и герой начинает все с чистого листа (меняется лишь уровень HP финального босса: каждое поражение приносит ему +1 очко здоровья в дополнение к исходным 2000 очкам). Нужно отметить, что для игр жанра roguelike одинаково важны как внутренний баланс (между силой персонажа и мощностью монстров), так и набор навыков протагониста, отточив мастерство применения которых геймер сможет пройти игру до конца. В данном жанре упор делается не столько на прокачку персонажа, сколько на рост скилла самого геймера - т.е. того, насколько хорошо он разбирается в игровых механиках проекта и в паттернах поведения противников, и насколько успешно он может использовать эти знания в условиях постоянно меняющегося игрового мира (карты в котором обычно генерируются рандомно).
На самом деле, в SoS с этим все довольно неплохо, вот только учить игрока выживанию она не собирается - лишь дает инструкцию по управлению персонажем, из которой становится ясно, что он может кувыркаться, прыгать, бить супер-атакой и включать "отдаление карты", чтобы лучше ориентироваться в пространстве. Из-за этого остается неочевидным, что перед нами еще одна игра, вдохновленная Dark Souls - с необходимостью перекатов, левел-апов у bonfire'ов и критически важным микроменеджментом уровня стамины.
Если говорить коротко, в SoS есть уйма механик, узнать о которых из самой игры невозможно без покадрового анализа собственного геймплея в записи (например, "одновременное убийство нескольких монстров одного типа дает больше золота", "уровень показателя Agility влияет на скорость уклонений", "продолжительность отдаления карты зависит от уровня стамины" и др.) - в случае с малоизвестным проектом на Steam заниматься настолько подробным исследованием, естественно, никто не станет. К счастью, разработчик упомянул о многих неочевидных взаимосвязях в отдельном тексте (см. [url=https://steamcommunity.com/id/RealEyesRealizeReaLies/recommended/373290/#developer_response] по ссылке[/url]). К сожалению, этот текст не включен в саму игру, а наткнуться на него можно лишь случайно (даже секция "Руководства" до сих пор пустует), поэтому неудивительно, что SoS осталась недопонятой большинством игроков - никто не ожидает глубины от очередной кривоватой самоделки на Steam.
Кроме отсутствия туториала у проекта есть и другие недостатки: например, в динамике "пещерная" графика выглядит не так круто, как в статике; вместо саундтрека у SoS - дикий нойзкор с гроулингом (от которого к десятой минуте начинает болеть голова); контента не так и много - пещер всего пять, генерируются они рандомно, выход открывается за убийство всех монстров на уровне либо за пожертвование тотему крупной суммы денег (в конце третьей пещеры всегда ждет мид-босс, в конце последней - упомянутый босс с числом "2000+количество умираний главгероя" HP в графе "здоровье"); число типов монстров невелико, разнообразия в оружии - тоже. Однако если знать, как играть в SoS "правильно", все это отходит на второй план перед действительно сложным, но в целом справедливым "рубиловом" - за что я и ставлю проекту позитивную оценку.
Вердикт: кривоватый, недружелюбный к новичкам, но довольно увлекательный roguelike - по крайней мере, если прочитать и запомнить инструкцию от разработчика с перечислением неочевидных геймплейных тонкостей. Другой вопрос - сколько игроков захотят так утруждаться: автор упоминает, что его проект не для нубов, но с "трудностью входа" в игру он, кажется, сильно переборщил (да и "пещерная" стилистика с нойзкором вместо саундтрека придется по душе не всем).

All in all, I recommend it.
I really don't care what these other neanderthals say about this game, it's insanely chaotic, brutish and violent and it's awesome; it's that hidden diamond in the rough which is greater than the sum of its parts, exactly because it is so shambolic and rough around the edges. I keep coming back to it, because wildly clubbing abstract beasts of yore in showers of blood whilst somersaulting like Tom Daly on amphetamine...on the moon is...well...fun

Unfortunately, all the good ideas are overshadowed by the clunky gameplay, animation and horrible UI. Overall the game lacked some polishing to make it enjoyable to me.
I'd be curious to see this guy work on something with a better budjet or team but Stones of Sorrow is just not worth playing to me.
I got this game expecting it to be bad, but it surprised me! Even worse than I thought, I'm organizing my games and this one sits at the top 3 of the Trash category. -10/10

История эта - которую чувак рычит - написана пусть и не столь ужасно, как the Eye of Argon (загуглите, весёлая тема), но близко к этому. После такого очень малообещающего начала запускается сама игра - и боже ж ты мой, что с управлением? Какого хера кажется, будто каждая из кнопок залипла? Какого хрена иногда HUD отключается сам по себе? Как так вообще вышло, что даже движение персонажа, без нажатия каких-либо кнопок, кажется настолько вне контроля игрока? В общем, если любите треш - сыграйте. К тому же в игре есть ко-оп режим на четырёх (!) игроков, чтобы под пивко поугорать с дружбанами над этим дерьмом. Именно этим я в ближайшее время и займусь.

Blood Splatters, cave paintings and heavy metal with Xbox360 pad support are good. However, zoomed in camera on protagonist, bland boring hard to navigate platforms, randomly spawning foes, floaty combat, insta-death, bad user interface, no resolution options and many other issues really drag the value proposition down. I found that the only redeeming factor was the tone and art direction and even in that area it is completely outcompeted by Apotheon

Idea, art and sound are great. Combat system and platforming are broken.
In sum I think game is not too bad. Bad is what it developed in Unity. That is why we have what we have.

实际游戏音乐完全没有预告片那种诡异感，胡乱配了点金属摇滚即单调又没什么意思，完全被BGM折磨而无法带来任何游戏体验上的增益，建议关掉声音。
上来也是一堆操作说明胡塞给你了，靠你自己琢磨了，很原始，很粗暴
打击感和被打击感也没有，你也不知道自己被打中没有，而且什么时候被打中了，没有什么明显的动作或者是声音的反馈（游戏其他部分多屎都不如这一处缺点致命），见到人就上去蹭，不是你死就是我活，虽然这样基本都是永远困在一二关循环。
虽然左上角有状态栏和一些人物数值，但是太小了，你根本看不见，也没功夫去盯着那个小小的状态栏，其他的字也是小得逼你脸贴着屏幕来看，就不能做大点吗
整体界面挺糙的，眼睛累
武器其实挺酷的，那些敌人的形象设计就这种风格来说其实也挺酷的（电波对得上），但是操作一点都不酷
我是真的不喜欢这个游戏的音乐，屎爆了
原始人壁画风的画面确实有点意思，但是玩起来落差感实在太大，打折后3元的价格符合游戏质量，也可以了。

This game is... Frankly Bizzare. In the best of ways. Honestly It makes no sense XD but That doesnt really matter because it is just so unique. I mean the concept is fabulous, and the excecution is... a little disconcerting. But either way, it is a fun little game. It plungles you into a freaky world of cave paintings, and you basically run around bludgeoning things to death with a club. Or cutting them with some sort of bladed weapon. As long as reamains inexpensive, I say buy it; Fun is fun*.
*(Note: Its very unforgiving, and a tad brutal. But still fun)

This is a tedious game with no replay value after it's been completed. The only thing that makes it last long is how easy it is to die, and once you've worked out the formula that will almost never happen. Don't waste your money on this awkard little game that should've stayed on Newgrounds.

Cringy soundtrack, cringy dialogue, confusing gameplay elements, choppy frame rates; will probably only give you 5 minutes of enjoyment tops. On sale it costs 75 cents. Just don't pay full price for it.
Do not play this game unless you use an xbox controller. Completely ♥♥♥♥ ui for changing your controls if you use anything else. Can't even play the game because of this issue.

For a free game this was actually pretty fun! The game kinda lags and gets chopy at times but the battleing and blood is where its at! Found myself screaming and yelling "sparta". Boss fights are ehhh but when playing this with 3 other players this game gets even better!
I cut myself on this game's edge and had to get stitches.
In seriousness, it just isn't very fun. It has a metal tone to it, but mostly rips off Dark Souls in brutality and level ups. The levels are dark and boring, and don't matter much because the money that spawns on the ground isn't worth it and almost all enemies trickle down to the lowest point.
This is good.
I don't think I've encountered a game so poorly designed yet.
Your character would jump as much time as he pleases. He would attack when he likes it. There's no such things as "timing" or "hit detection". There's no such thing as tutorial.
Oh, and the soundtrack, good god, is that even music, or is that some bum hitting on a trash can with a big stick and growling unintelligibly?
Overall, I don't even know who might like this game, honestly.
Would I recommend it? No, not by a long shot.

Интересный концепт, мрачный стиль и ужасный геймплей. Купил на распродаже, что бы особо не пожалеть о покупке. Однако игра сделана из рук вон плохо. Я понимаю как тяжело сделать игру, но какой смысл в продукте в который практически невозможно играть? Управление тормозит, отклик удара вместе с замахом примерно 2.5 секунду, прыжки на пять километров и толпы врагов которые отнимают по половине здоровья. Крайне сложная инбалансная игра с дерьмовым управлением. Не стоит своих денег.
After reading a negative review and the dev's kind reply, I bought the game for the sale price of 75 cents. I like the game and do not find myself running low on stamina as others have complained about. It is a brutal, bloody game using cave painting graphics.
It is easy to play with keyboard and mouse. If you die, it's usually your own fault for jumping and swinging too much. There are many places to get away from battle to regain health & stamina.
The game has RPG elements too. You level up and distribute points into stats. It's a fun game! I recommend this game to anyone that likes bloody dismemberment with rockin music!
Gameplay sucks. Story is confusing. Looks like crap. Glitchy mechanics. The soundtrack will make your ears bleed.

Brutal
The game is fun it's a cool concept, and I like the atmosphere, but it has some frustrating game-breaking bugs that make it too easy to get stuck in unbeatable situations after investing a ♥♥♥♥-ton of time:
Bug 1: If you get the stone which allows traders to sell one more item than normal before moving, the trader sells 3 items and then will never sell to you again.
Bug 2: In the cave where you have to pay a certain fee to get to the next cave and there is no option to just kill the entire enemy horde to advance, enemies should spawn indefinitely until you have enough money. Instead, after spending money on upgrades, it turns out there aren't enough enemies left to harvest for money and it is impossible to continue to the next cave.
Bug 2 is the one that made me give up on the game. Either the bugs need to be fixed or the game needs to have cheat-codes implemented so players can fix this ♥♥♥♥ when it comes up.

It's pretty fun tbh. It's not my type of music or game, and my type of controller isn't the type supported... but I think that it deserves a lot more than what it is getting.
Rather short but fun game. Don't be fooled, this ain't your typical hack and slash, you have to figure out the games mechanics first. Music might be irritating at first but personally I started digging it and think it matches the game.

ボタンを押してアクションが起きるまでの反応時間が
どうにもまちまちなため、手応えが悪くて全体的にもっさりした
悪夢のように劣悪な操作感。
それでいてゲーム自体は極めて単調で、ランダムに生成される
ステージ地形の中に、これまたランダムに湧いてくる敵を
一定以上倒せば次に進めるよというだけ。そのくせやたらと
敵の攻撃力は高く、しかも数で押してくるので、
前述の劣悪な操作性もあって、まともに相手をしても
勝ち目はありません。で、どうなるかというと、
スタミナゲージを消費して撃てる一撃必殺攻撃を
撃っては逃げて撃っては逃げての繰り返しを
強いられるという底の浅さ。全5ステージという短さですが、
これ以上続かないでくれて心底ホッとするくらいです。
あと、ゲームの売りのはずの要素がことごとく滑ってるのも
問題で、例えば血しぶき！ゴア！とか言ってますが
キャラは壁画絵まんまの棒人間風味なんで生々しさは皆無だし、
死んだ時に手持ち資金を使ってキャラを強化できるんですが
なんか全体的に効果は微妙でそんなんなくてもクリアできるし、
数少ない体力回復手段に死体食いスキルがあるんですが
これ結構な高確率で死肉を喉に詰まらせて窒息死するんで
怖くて使えたもんじゃないし、なんかもうとにかく
ゲームとして雑。出来の悪いフラッシュゲームくらいだと考えて
ちょうどいいくらいです。
じゃあなんで親指立ててるのかというと、
どうにも開発者を嫌いになれないんですよ、これが。
起動直後のOPで、ノリノリのデスボイスに
いかにも芝居ががった発音で物語を読み上げる開発者。
そしていざゲームが始まれば、流れる音楽は
開発者がリーダーを務める前衛デスメタルバンド
（メンバーはベース＆ボーカル、ドラム、ドラム）が
奏でる、地の底で唸るようなノイズ系楽曲。
もうね、お前自分の好きなことだけ詰め込みすぎでしょ。
いまいち理解しがたいんだけど、たぶん洞窟壁画も
この人にとっては性的嗜好の対象かなんかなんだと思う。
とにかく俺はこれが好きなんだ！ってのを
全力で叩きつけてることだけは痛いほど伝わってくるんで、
こういうの否定したくないんですよ。
あと、フォーラムで「壁画の著作権処理どうしてんの？」って
聞かれた開発者が、「俺が死んで墓に入ったら
話つけに行ってくるぜ！」って答えてるのがすごい面白かった。
だから親指は立てます。
でもゲームとしてはどう考えても駄作なんで、
そこんところはくれぐれも間違えないでください。

Turns out I've known the dev's band for like 10 years
Vocals are on par with Matti Way, Angel Ochoa etc
Hard but fun game, and seemingly likeable dev. Also great soundtrack if you like that kind of music :)

I gave it a shot because of the low price, but it's a bit unpolished. I feel like it was worth the price to give it a go, but Steam asks if I recommend it or not and I have to say no.
It has an interesting art style and concept, but everything about the gameplay feels slippery and unrefined. Movement feels like you're on ice, the player character keeps moving after you let go of a key which is frustrating, especially when you fall off a cliff (there's no fall damage, but you have to jump back up again). Levels are uninspired, there's no value to the verticality and not much to reward exploration, levels being too small to really explore anyway.
Attacks are fiddly, it's the sort of game that queues up commands so if you spam attack it will sit there and do as many attacks as you clicked the mouse for before you can do anything, which you can get used to but sometimes the game just doesn't seem to register commands. Pressing a key to turn and face an enemy often wont, why I couldn't say. I've read from the developer that attacks will hit when you have stamina, and you swing the weapon and the blade passes through the hitbox of an enemy, but I have witnessed on multiple occasions attacks with full stamina making contact and doing ... nothing.
I found no real way of healing, it says in the control scheme to press R to eat corpses and I spammed the ♥♥♥♥ of the R key and ... nothing. Corpses lay on the ground uneaten and my health unrestored. I got one pickup which regens health at 3 points every ten seconds you don't get hit, which makes for mind numbingly boring gameplay waiting for your health to crawl back up. I fail to see how you can get through more than a few levels of this game with the glitchy attack animations and no heals.
So what you have here is a good concept that I don't exactly regret trying, but I wouldn't recommend buying it.
Pretty poor, amateurish game. It sounds like it's trying to be "hardcore" and "metal", but the graphics look like wonky playdough figurines made by a 3 year old. There is a painfully obvious lack of sound effects in game, and for all the over-the-top bloodsplatter, the threadbare animations leave no sense of satisfaction or feedback in combat.
Apparently there are more in-depth mechanics involving stamina and how much you can jump/roll/etc, but they are poorly if at all explained, and there is practically no visual indication of them.
This game is not Beta, it's not even Alpha. It looks like a hastily slapped-together proof-of-concept never intended to see the light of day.
I got this game for less than a dollar on sale. I barely regret the cost but I want the 8 minutes of my life I spent playing this game back.
complete trash. it uses a ton of music from actual bands that i highly doubt it has any legal rights to use. all the controls are completely unresponsive, from moving, to jumping, to attacking. sometimes they work, sometimes they dont. it has NOTHING to do with stamina. sometimes when you attack enemies, nothing happens. but every enemy can easilly kill you and will hit every time they swing their "wepon". even if they are nowhere near you.
you collect money to level up, but the level ups are pointless. you can only recover health by spending all your money at a shop and hoping its random drop is health. its usually 30 different crappy wepons you cant get rid of however, and then have to cycle through every time you pick up something new, to find the highest attack again. usually youlll have to cycle multiple times, since the wepon or relics effect/stats are displayed for all of 1/10th of a second most of the time. increasing strength slightly increase damage, you can increase dodge roll "speed" which dosent actually seem to do anything, and increase your health. even with max health, youll die in no time at all. even with all the perks (which you can only buy 1 of each death, regardless of your money), you dont stand a chance. you can eventually eat corpses i you cheat enough money in (youre not doing this legit. dont lie.), but youll die about 1/3 of the time when you eat a corpse, and they provide hardly and health.
this game is complete trash. a waste of 99 cents. no responses from the developer can possibly change this. and i hope that the "developer" is stealing the music, so he can spend some time in prison away from "developing" "games".
Jogo tosco. Só dois tipos de golpe que aparentemente causam o mesmo dano, as letras de descrição dos ítens ficam desaparecendo muito rápido ou nem mesmo aparecem, o menu é confuso. Quando tem muitos inimigos concentrados em um só lugar, você acaba morrendo instantaneamente, sem change nem para usar seu golpe mais forte. As músicas ajudam na ambientação, mais poderiam ser mais variadas. História sem sentido.
Apesar de tudo o jogo me cativou pela ambientação e pelo clima opressivo. As pinturas rupestres ajudam a transmitir esse clima bizarro, com suas formas distorcidas.

The intro to this game, man, this is Real. Pure, brutal underground software, from the soundtrack to the difficulty. Take time to read the control scheme (Esc)-- progression through skill is pretty rewarding. Making the endgame harder from death is unrelenting. The Best dollar I've spent since I was 10, buying the styrofoam Focke Wulf aeroplane toy from the local convenience store. As a side note, digging into Neoandertals on YT because of this game was well worth the asking price. Only gripe is the 'slippery' nature of the main character's movements in gameplay. Otherwise \m/

Just, what the ♥♥♥♥.
You're greeted instantly by a terrible voice-over story with no background music, bad vocal quality and editing, and a painful accent, which ends with as much abruptness as it begins. Immediately you're thrust into fire and death. The soundtrack tries just as hard as the UI and the controls to confuse and terrify you, immediately blasting you with metal riffs that personally sound like they were designed to make your ears bleed as soon and as often as possible. I know there are a lot of artistic decisions here - but the game feels as though it was coded on the same stone tablets the art was drawn on.
It's clunky, patched-together, and even though it looked like there was a lot of interesting things going on - the lack of visual clarity (both with the small, scrunched up font, and the general unpolished feel of the whole game) really made this not worth getting into.
Honestly, I would have been a lot more harsh with this game, but from what I understand, the dev is a really nice and responsive guy. So, I suppose, if that's what you're into, that's awesome.
But don't buy it.

First time i used steam refund! The idea of the game seems ok, the game itself isn't good enough!
The controllers are bad, AI of the enemy is bad, everything is bad... i saw some comments on the music, ppl saying it was bad, i kind like it.
"Big Mistake"
I've enjoyed this game overall so far, yet definitely see room for improvement. One minor technical issue that turns me off is the lack of true full-screen, another is the sometimes too-narrow spaces in levels that you can fall through, yet not jump back up. Pretty good overall, though.
First, the pros:
Combat is paced well, and on reading the dev's responses in other reviews, is made in a logical fashion.
The cave painting style looks pretty cool, though it would be nice if the borders/terrain looked more natural, like the curve of an actual cave. Perhaps in that vein, some set spawn points could be larger groups of paintings in the background/foreground that enter the arena and diminish as you kill them off?
The money management system increases the difficulty in a good way.
Bonfires.
Now the cons:
The music isn't bad, but it gets repetitive. More variety (not outside the genre, more death metal) would be nice.
The endurance bar is hard to keep track of during combat.
The enemy spawning is unintuitive, but since they are meant to be reactionary, that makes some sense. Doesn't mean I particularly like have one taking a swing at/killing me as it spawns, though...
I'll add more to this review after I've done a few more runs, just to work out whether I suck (probably) or the game needs more tweaking (what game doesn't?). Edit years later: I sucked/still suck, still fun and def not for everyone lol.
