A lot of potential but will never be realised. and a "memory leak" problem to boot
I first played this game cracked in 2019, now after 7 years or so I still love the game and what it's made of, sad to see how this game was stopped developing ages ago, such a lovely game.

Stonehearth is an incomplete game.
Sadly nothing will change that fact. The game is amazing, it does what it wants to do very well. However, it will always sit quite oddly in me that this game was abandoned.
Annnyyyhow, the game is a blocky city-management sim. Unlike Kingdoms and Castles, Rimworld or any other game you might have played, you don't control a large group of people. You'll have about 30-35 hearthlings max at any point in the late-game (mostly because your PC will explode if you go over that limit). You have a large amount of control of all these hearthlings. You assign jobs to them and collect resources for them to utilize their crafts to build better bases, tools and houses. That's the gameplay loop but it is addicting. The art-style is amazing, the random encounters are cool and the music is just perfect. If you still plan on buying this game in 2026 I highly recommend you to use the ACE mod to get a better experience. As usual, the community still keeps a game alive even after half a decade of it getting abandoned. The mods for this game are very well made and will improve your gameplay experience tenfold if you decide on using the workshop.
Overall, even though I love this game with my whole heart. I can't suggest you to drop 20 bucks on something that probably won't get revived. Go watch a few videos check out some articles and only get it if you think everything clicks for you.

A decent, if flat, colony sim where you manage slow-working characters in a very limited game-world. The voxel style allows for unique building (though pretty bad for multi-storey or underground constructions). It is very simplistic and seems to have been abandoned before the developers got to see though all their ideas but still remains as a fun little distraction.
Unfortunately the game still has many bugs that cause characters to get soft-locked into states of being unable to move or act and then they just starve to death in a hallway while yipping about how they can't do anything. Even besides that, combat is deeply unsatisfying and characters are so dumb as to continually running into enemies until they are spotted and killed.
Gameplay is very slow with little to actually do most of the time outside of wait for things to get done and baby-sitting things so that nothing goes catastrophically wrong.

shell of a game, built off the cash of kickstarter backers that were lied to and stolen from. Sad pathetic game with such potential. Shame on the devs. Hit multiple crowdfunding goals to then bait and switch to give nothing or barely anything at all... 140k mammoths bonanza, 160k rabbit clan, 180k glacier biome, 220k pirates, ninjasn politicians, 300k PVP raids. You guys soured the experience for too many players to count and should recieve a class action lawsuit for the lies and betrayal to your community. Despite hitting 750k you couldnt even add dwarves but instead dwarf the experience crowdfunders paid for and rob them blind. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME IF YOU RESPECT THE GAMING COMMUNITY.

С момента выхода игра так и не получила обновлений. Потому что она идеальна? Нет, разработчикам пришлось забросить свою игру. Однако, они реализовали поддержку модов и, по сути, превратили саму игру в мод, что позволяет модификациям так сильно влиять на нее. На первый план выходит модификация ACE — она больше самой игры, содержит более 30 000 строк локализации и по праву считается лучшим модом. Кроме того, сообщество выпустило достаточно модов, чтобы игра оставалась живой, насыщенной и интересной.
Те, кто играет в Stonehearth без модов, многое теряют. Без модификаций в игре делать нечего: сама игра — сырая, недоработанная, которую сообщество доводит до ума. Скачивайте моды и наслаждайтесь игрой!

It has so many bugs, but it's so good I can't stop playing it anyway. I had a couple of saves through like 6 years and I just can't leave this game alone. Definitely add the ACE mod from the workshop RIGHT AWAY

I've played this game for years, but it is an incomplete buggy mess and I can't recommend it to anyone unfortunately. It'll never be fixed either because the original devs sold out to a larger studio which then essentially ended the project.

一眼爱上的游戏，好看的画风，自由度很高的自由建筑，职业和战斗也很丰富，可操作性很高。很可惜制作组不在了，但是还有很用心的工作室在保持着主线剧情和相关mod的更新，相当于伪官方了。孩子很喜欢，很沉迷
超有意思，一边管理村民一边升级城镇，而且又不需要搓很复杂的生产线，很休闲的小游戏（但也很吃时间orz），看着自己的城镇一点一点建起来真的很有成就感，但是也太卡了啊，玩完第一年就已经卡的连ui都打不开了QAQ
O jogo é muito bom, para quem gosta do gênero. É realmente uma pena que as desenvolvedora tenha desistido do jogo, mas como sempre, a comunidade deu um jeito de manter o jogo vivo com mods na oficina da Steam. São tantos fatores replay por causa do mods, é incrível.

Oyun neredeyse hiç elinden tutmuyor ve seni arayüz, kamera açısı ve doğa olayları üçlüsüyle ölüme bırakıyor. Eğer arayüzü hızlı çözer ver mekanikleri kavrarsan keyifli bir hal almaya başlıyor. Fakat bir noktadan sonra içerik tükeniyor. Mod topluluğu iyi çalışmış. Eksik gördüğün içerikleri ve QoL değişiklikleri atölye kısmında bolca mevcut. Arkadaşınızla oynarsanız daha da keyifli oluyor.
Abandonware. One of my favourite 'bad/incomplete' games. It is unfinished, the core building mechanic is more likely to bug yoru buildings out than complete. You are very limited in what you can do and what it leads to as the challenges and progresions balance was never finished.
If you enjoy the genre you will the first first 10-20 hours are great. Afterwards only frustration and dissapointment remains in how unfinished and therefore limited the game is.
I will still fire it up on occasion and play for a couple of hours, hence my time in it. It is a very charming game but 80% of this charm can be experienced by watching a letsplayer dabble for a few episodes.
Thus I reccomend you to stay well clear and spent your money on a different developer that still works on their game.
It was really quite fun with tons of promise, but this game hasn't been updated since 2018.
Hop back into the City Builder section on Steam and keep scrolling, this ain't the one, I'm afraid.

The game is amazing, great concept, very promising, and super fun.
Problem? Riot.
They bought out the developers company and killed the game by reassigning all the devs and marking the game as "complete" when (if you player for longer than 5 minutes or hell if you're on windows 11 and try to load the game at all) it's very clearly not.
The folks at ACE have done a great job for what they have been left with ABSOLUTLEY play with that mod, basically unplayable without.
Its a fun game, give it a shot; just remember.
Delete the x64 file from the install path if you only get a black screen, and consider enabling x32 if you start having severe performance problems(50/50 solve for that one)

住民に指示を出し、戦ってもらう。建築しているのを眺めて楽しむゲームです。
住民が動き回ってあれこれしてるのがとってもかわいい！
建築物はテンプレートが用意されてるけど、自分で1からデザインする事もできるから
自分の考えた家を住民が建ててくれるのが嬉しい。
定期的に敵の集団が襲ってきますが、バランスよく住民に役職を与えて、
そこそこレベルをあげて、必要な施設を用意しておかないと詰むかも。
私は何度も墓だらけにした。でも楽しいから何度もやっちゃう。
ストーリーも一応あるけど英語がわからない人はMODで日本語化がおすすめ。
MODがたくさんあるのでバニラをやりきった後も楽しめるよ！
住民が増えていくにつれてPCの負荷がとんでもなくなるのかエラーが多発する。
急にゲームが落ちるので、オートセーブの間隔は短くしておいたほうがいい。

Dead Game, was a good idea and when the devs worked on. Now its a dead game that haven't had any updates/support for Years. Don't even buy it on sale bro its not worth it. Do banished or something else.
This games pretty relaxing and time killing. I can literally play it for hours and enjoy working on the progression. Highly recommend if you're looking for a fun sandbox/building/farming game.

This game WAS amazing and had mountains of potential. Sadly the devs got purchased and then their resources taken from them. After the windows 10 update the game no longer opens. You'll press play and it will load for about 30 seconds before closing. If you bought this game recently then my apologies but just return it as you've been scammed. The game isn't playable and is just another memorial to why we shouldn't kill games. RIP Stone Hearth you could've been so much. If you wanna witness this games glory days then I'd advise watching some Youtube videos of it. Sadly that is the only way to witness a stable version of this game now.

It's unironically depressing what happened to this game. I would sit and wait for the dev diaries and be so excited to watch them. They had so many cool ideas, so many cool things planned, and they just got the rug pulled from under them. You could tell the dev team actually really liked working on this game, as it just ooses charm, but.. it's not finished. It's playable, you can do some cool things, but a lot of things feel buggy, unfinished, and tied together with loose string from a oversized hoodie.
The game was put together with it's own custom engine, which allowed for a lot of this games charm to happen. However, the custom engine also was its downfall. The amount of technical debt and everything else, they were literally fighting their own code. When Riot Games bought Radiant Entertainment in 2016, most of us thought it was going to get the funding and help it needed. That didn't happen. Instead, they slapped a 1.0 label on a alpha version of the game.
I recommend this game because I truly believe there is still nothing quite like it. There's a lot of settlement, city builder games out there, but none of them give you the same level of creativity and personal expression, and none of them have the same amount of just soul this game has (imo, or at least I haven't found any).
it's pretty chillaxing but like, the devs kinda gave up on it...
but the modding community stood up to make the game playable again! :D

RIOT Games once again proving they're insufferable creatures with no humanity within them for buying and dissolving this studio. They killed a game with such great potential with no remorse and should honestly face legal retribution for such an act. The game itself is great, but you'll need community mods to play it fully.
