If I could give this a neutral review, I would. It was fun and cute but WAY too short and even buying it discounted at $6, i'm not entirely sure it was worth it... (It's also worth noting my playtime is inflated from leaving the game up a few times.)
You get to meet each ghost once at speed dating and then go on a (short!) date with them afterwards and... that's it. I wanted more time with each ghost :( The art is cute and the characters have personality but again, everything about this was just way too short. I don't think it was bad enough to say I wouldn't recommend it but I'm not sure I would say it's worth more than $5 so get it on sale and be aware it'll be over quite fast.

It's definitely something special, with an unique style and a bunch of different love interests to choose from. All of the characters have their own special backstory and personality that defines them, each interaction different than the other. My personal favourite is Riley, I'd do anything for this man. Argh, I adore him! He's such a sweetheart!!!
So I ended up going on a date with an older woman with a smoking problem. Smoking aside, she was a sweet woman. So we got to talking, one thing led to another, and we went back to her place.
Things were heating up, but then she starts talking about her daughter. She mentioned how much she misses her, their estranged relationship, how she feels she needs to be strong for her, and all of that. We explored her feelings and talked about all of the events that led her to that situation.
Then I asked if she had considered reaching out to her daughter. She said she was afraid, so I encouraged her. And she did. Beyond all belief, she was able to get in touch with her daughter that night. And on that night, right there on the spot, she talked to her daughter for the first time in a long time. Against all odds, her daughter was there, ready to reconnect with her, too.
Her daughter came over and the two of them shared a tearful reunion. There were many apologizes, many explanations, and much forgiveness. After a long night of sharing some powerful emotions, things had finally been set straight.
They both thanked me so much for what I had done for the two of them. I told them I was happy to do it, then I tipped my hat, and returned home.
I never scored.
10/10 Most realistic dating sim I've ever played.
Not joking. I actually am seeing somebody right now who has a very similar relationship with her own children. The very first night I met her, we explored many complicated emotions she has, including how she feels about her children, their auntie/her sister, her mother, the relationship between her mother and her grandmother, how cycles repeat, and how she feels she needs to always "be strong" for the benefit of her daughters and the effect it has on both them and her.
It was a very painful conversation. She cried so heavily, and I consoled her at every step, giving her the emotional relief she has been needing for so long. By the end of the night, she was singing love songs to me, completely unprompted.
The next day when I woke up, there were 57 missed phone calls and 32 text messages from her. There weren't any emergencies. She simply missed me. Not joking.
I still never scored.

I am so confused. I remember playing this game and loving the vast cast of goofy little weirdos. I thought I remembered writing a review. AND YET! There is nothing here. Well, there is now. Let me pull it from my memory banks.
You are dead and find yourself at a speed dating event for ghosts. You are also a ghost so why not mingle because you are apparently single? Each character is so incredibly whacky and the stories they hold are... well not all of them are whacky actually. Some of them are wholesome and cutesy and then there's Gary. Gary is a piece of work. XD So is Spooky Peter but the difference between them is one is actually kinda spooky and it's not Peter. :P
So yeah! You just date them to uncover their stories and that's pretty much it. It's sweet and short but clearly memorable if I can literally pull this ♥♥♥♥ out of my ass to talk about again. XD
I enjoyed this game a lot. I wish I could spend more time with leon and spooky peter.

This game is really cute, and all of the characters are actually really interesting and fun to talk to considering I was going in to this expecting to like maybe one or two. It also made me cry more than a few times honestly. Long Term Relationships for Ghosts when??

Speed Dating for Ghosts is definitely not for everyone. As the title implies, one should not be allowed to play unless they have already expired, but even putting that aside, the writing is whimsical and uneven, and will definitely not appeal to everyone. Living or otherwise. It also is not the best-looking game of them all. Finally, the story can be rushed in about 30 mins.
Then again, it’s meant to be enjoyed for 3 hours or so, and graphics are not the deciding factor when it comes to visual novels. There’s also that very classy Cronenberg reference that caught me completely by surprise. That’s good enough for me. Long live the new flesh.

It’s also one of those ‘more than meets the eye’ kinda stories. It focuses rather on getting to know the other ghosts than forming romantic relationships with them. Which means that the title is at the same time misleading and not, both to the game’s benefit.

From the technical standpoint, you get exactly what you see. A monochromatic background, a black and white ghost drawn in an offbeat fashion that could certainly use a bit more detail every now and then, and a speech bubble. Promptly followed by a profound revelation regarding the fact how much information can be conveyed with just the proper choice of a font. Some noninvasive music in the background. That’s it.

Dialogue-wise, there are plenty of choices, which is always commendable. Even so, I don’t think achieving a failstate is possible. Being aware how both body language and voice tonality completely eludes those review thingies, let me explain that the previous sentence was almost as ironic as the fate of that old man who won the lottery on his 98th birthday and died the next day (not an actual character in this game). There exist achievements for failing to date anyone at all, but these outcomes are more challenging to obtain than the successful routes. I have absolutely no human-to-human soft skills and yet, each of the ghosts that I’ve met happily invited me out to the second date.
Speaking of, they are an interesting bunch. The ghosts. Not ten out of ten as far as the writing is concerned but quirky and unique. Six plus to eights all of them. See how effortlessly I grade (former) human beings on a numeric scale? No soft skills.
They can also be surprisingly sweet considering their predicament. Occasionally bitter, but not too much. There are some humor and feels involved, as well as some adult thoughts and profound ideas every now and then. Nonetheless, Speed Dating remains a rather light-hearted lecture.

Speed Dating is somehow a more heartfelt experience than it initially appears. Just look at me still contemplating it weeks after having finished its stor(ies)y. Probably due to the fact that I’ve found this review sitting somewhere between my random notes, not complete, but written far enough not to give up on it. There's a metaphor in it.
So.
All things said and done; Speed Dating is definitely somewhere within the top 50 of my experiences involving ghosts. Even more so at the very reasonable price tag that the publisher asks for it. Thumbs up.

It's a cute little game that I thoroughly enjoyed. I like the art style, each of the characters were cute, in their own ways. It has definite repeatability, even has a little trivia game and a little vacation to meet a few different folks.

If you’re getting tired of eternal loneliness, there’s apparently plenty of interesting ghosts around to meet. They’re not all here for the… right… reasons, but you’ve literally got all the time in the world. Solve some fatal mysteries, accompany a haunting or two, maybe rob a… what? no! Nothing going on here.
I’ve had this game for so long - just now had the heart to reject all nine ghosts to complete the game. The chill atmosphere fits the simple, endearing art style. I love the mix of cute/creepy. Would recommend to anyone interested in a comfy, strange, thought-provoking play through!
Its a small sweet game with good music and dialogue and interesting characters. I don't really play visual novels, but this one can be played in short burst. I like it a lot.
I really love how stylistically simple yet emotionally deep this game is. I also feel it should be mentioned that some of the achievements are surprisingly difficult to unlock which (in my opinion) adds even more to the game play! It took me about three hours alone to figure out how to unlock All Dressed Up and Nowhere to Ghost. As frustrating as it was I have never felt so satisfied finally completing an achievement!!!

Over-hyped. I played it all the way through because I wanted to see if it got any better, but it didn't. The achievements were easy to get which is the only reason why I replayed it. I wouldn't have bothered otherwise, even though the game encourages you to replay it.
Game design was fine but some characters were honestly plain ugly, and it didn't seem intentional. Dialogue was also fine, though there were plenty of eye-rolling moments and cringe commentary. It was clearly trying to be funny, but failed, in my opinion. Several annoying characters, exactly two (out of 14) had interesting backstories. "Ghosts speed dating" as a game idea intruiged me but unfortunately I was let down. Neither the story, world, nor characters interested me. I'm glad I bought it on sale, otherwise I would've ditched trying to get all the achievements and just refunded the game. I feel bad being so harsh on a small indie game but I just feel like I wasted hours of my life for no good reason. Don't buy it.

It's a short, but charming game with equally charming characters as your potential companions. I fell in love with Kyo's adorable shyness, Spooky Peter's spookiness, the fact that you can rob a bank with Leon....not to mention all of the genuinely heartwarming and/or heartwrenching tales of the afterlives and former lives these ghosts led. Between Vera, Gary, Hattie, Agatha, Dave, and Steph, I'm not sure who my heart goes out to most!
Not to mention the incredible design of each character, from adorable to genuinely unsettling. They all shine with their own unique spark, and I love them all for it. They're all so well-developed in such a short period of time that I simply cannot recommend the game enough. <3

I love Dave so much! That wisp/pet owner concept... Pass the tissues. On sale I paid less than $2 USD, and I think it was worth it just for Dave to punch me in my feels.

What I thought would be a game to get laughs out of for dating goofy ghosts in here, was actually an emotional roller coaster that had me almost tearing up at one point. Yes you'll get laughs but where this game shines most is actually making you forget you're playing a game and being so good at getting you immersed and invested in the characters through dialogue alone that you will unexpectedly care about these characters more than you thought.
If you want great dialogue and well written characters, play this game.
If you're a game designer hoping to make something similar then DEFINITELY study this game for its character dialogue.

Wow, I liked this game so much more than I expected. It's so oddly wholesome, even the "bad" ghosts. All the ghosts have their own distinct personalities that you can get to know, even the host, Fran, who has some interesting lore to her. The art is weird but perfect for the game, right down to the pure white ghosts on vibrant solid-color backgrounds. And I love the Hell music.
It's surprisingly hard to get rejected by all the ghosts, though.
Also, I LOVE DAVE SO MUCH. I replayed multiple times to choose different responses and get different endings, but I just couldn't bring myself to be mean to Dave.
(PS: disregard my playtime. I mostly played in offline mode, so it didn't get logged. I fully played the game and got all achievements.)

This isn't really the sort of game I'd play if it wasn't something I'd heard of before and extremely cheap during a Steam sale, but I did have a nice time with this one. It suffers from the one-sided nature inherent in these kind of games and some ghosts are better than others, but overall the characters are charming and fun to get to know. Riley was a nice surprise, there's a lot of things that do the whole jock with hidden depths thing but I like that he still keeps and is open about his passion for sports and being more than that doesn't mean those interests are treated as lesser. Leon's route was fun, I wish there were more instances of the ghosts interacting with each other because it helps break up the monotony of your character being a blank slate with not much personality to bounce off of. Other routes just didn't have as much going for them or felt unfinished. Taking the few hours to see everything reveals a mixed bag, but I would recommend this in the end.
A short, cute, introspective visual novel that is exactly what it says it is. It's a vibe honestly.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this game so far! The artwork is charmingly simple yet effective. Each character is their own person separate from every day stereotypes (all but riley ?) and each have a heart-string pulling story of how they came to be a ghost and why they are seeking companionship. Its silly, its cute, and it has sweet touching moments. I got this game on sale for a buck and some change and am very glad i got it!

A cute and wholesome Visual Novel where you either date or be a jerk to 14 ghosts while trying to figure out if you're in an afterlife of somesort.
Takes about 1-2 hours to complete, has alot of replay value as each character you date gives more info as to who they were before and overall it's a fun time.
Fran, Steph and Gary are best ghosts!

I bought Speed Dating for Ghosts because I saw Gary somewhere and I was wondering what his little deal was. This game has way more story going on than what I had originally expected. I would recommend giving this game a try because there were a lot of parts where I had a good laugh and a lot of parts that were a little more introspective. Speed date some ghosts!
This is exactly what you want from a visual novel. It's moving, funny, and has just enough there to make you feel like you're in the scene despite there being minimal visuals. Speed Dating for Ghosts has placed itself up there as one of my favorites after playing through it as it tackles some hard topics I've never seen a game take one but respectfully and with grace. I was laughing I was reliving some of my own hurt, but all in all it was an amazing package of a game. Best of all, it wasn't super long. Highly recommended.
Um visual novel/date sim curioso, divertido e um pouco sinistro. A arte é super simples, porem harmoniza muito bem com a atmosfera do jogo e dos personagens. Ele é jogo até que rápido mesmo tendo 12 fantasmas para conversar, inclusive as conversas são bem escritas. Tem muitos desfechos engraçados, e o meu favorito foi falhar em todos os encontros. O único defeito é ter que apagar tudo para refazer os encontros, entendo o porque mas é chato.

This game is really cute, but I also liked that it had fairly frank discussions around a topic that's normally taboo in polite company. Each of the ghosts was interesting in their own way and I enjoyed getting to know them. And pissing them off.
I like this game! Each ghost has their own personality and back story. Not an endless play for me, but maybe every couple of years or so?
