Soundodger+ is a surprisingly meditative yet challenging blend of bullet hell and music game that had me grinning from ear to ear once I found my groove with the hand-choreographed levels. The soundtrack is genuinely exceptional — artists like Disasterpeace, Danny Baranowsky, and Lifeformed bring a range of styles that make each level feel distinct, and honestly the music alone is worth the asking price. The level editor is the real star for longevity, letting you craft stages to your own songs with a surprisingly approachable toolset that opens up a ton of creative possibilities. Just know going in that auto-gen mode is pretty weak and doesn't sync well to the beat, so treat it as a bonus rather than a selling point. If you enjoy tight, minimalist games where flow state is the reward, this is absolutely worth picking up.
Really not finding this to be a good time. The idea is that it's a rhythm game where you move your mouse cursor out of the way of the projectiles which fly at you based on the rhythm of the song. In practice, it really doesn't feel good. The hit detection feels super unforgiving, and the projectiles do this back and forth thing depending on the music instead of flying forward consistently which completely screws up my sense of timing. You barely evade a projectile, and suddenly it's reversed back into you. Also haven't enjoyed any of the music I've heard so far. I don't doubt that some folks will have a good time with this, but I'm not one of them.

다만, DLC에 패턴이 예술적인 반면에 조금 과하다는 생각이 드는 것들도 몇 개 있어서 라이트하게 즐기실 분들은 DLC보다 정규 곡을 먼저 완료하시는 것을 강력히 권장드립니다.

All jokes aside, it's a fun arcade game for turning your brain off and listening to some amazing tunes by some amazing lesser-recognized artists. There's a lot of variety here, so you're bound to find at least ONE song you like, and that alone is well worth the recommendation. The Zen Mode makes it even easier to turn your brain off and just go 'ahhhhh yes'. Play the game, turn off your brain, and sweat [or don't! your call!].
I like it, so that's that.

全方位から敵弾が飛んできて、音楽が終わるまでひたすら回避し続けるゲームだ。
最初こそそれなりに面白く感じたものだが、しばらくプレイしていると「初見殺し」のギミックが登場するようになり、段々とストレスになってくる。
代表的なものは通り過ぎた敵弾が逆流するもので、ストアのPVでそれがどういうものか確かめられる。
ギミックとしてユニークであることは否定しないが、プレイ体験としてはいきなり戻ってきた敵弾に当たる、というプレイ体験でしかなく、気持ち良さとは無縁。
あと音楽自体も…う～ん、はっきり言って印象に残るような曲がないのでインパクトが弱い。というかプレイ中は回避に夢中になるので音楽を集中して聴いている暇がないとも言える。
ゲームのコンセプトは面白いとは思うが、「いい曲がない」「初見殺しがプレイ体験を損ねるだけ」という2点の問題は到底お勧めできるものではない。
I've never played such a boring and frustrating bullet hell game. The levels are so bland and inconsistent, 95% of the level has no difficulty, and then near the end of the level, it all of a sudden goes "random ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ go" and just kills you. I love hard bullet hell games, and the difficulty itself wouldn't be an issue (from most levels) if the gameplay around it were at least somewhat challenging. However, it's just a nothing burger of a level until that one section. The worst part is that you can't even really practice the levels either. The only form of practice is a god-mode playthrough. So if the hardest section is at the end, you first have to sleep for 2 minutes before having one attempt to practice the hard part. I was hoping once I got to the harder levels in the game that this problem would vanish as the easier sections would become harder and require some focus; however, the hardest sections just go into situations where you can't beat it without luck or absurd amount of practice, way more than any other part of the song would ask.
TLDR: Only play this if you aren't going for 100% completions and only want to see silly levels, or try Soundodger 2, as from the looks of it, it has actual gameplay and a good practice mode.

Soundodger+ is actually probably one of the best rhythm games out there- having a whole level editor, which is something most games like this won't have.
As for the actual gameplay, it's incredible. The music just slaps so hard, I will casually listen to Katapult every day, as well as most of the other songs. Although Soundodger 2 has been out for awhile, I wouldn't call this game dead. It is still really fun to play, and I still recommend it.
I think the heart feature is actually really smart, as it tests your skill by tempting you to go for it, then not get hit all the way after if you're going for 100%. And it can be really hard and challenging on DLC levels like Venus, as well as the heart levels in the main levels section.
I could go on for hours about how much stuff is this game including or excluding the DLC, but I'm not going to torture you like that. Overall I'll just say that this is a great game for people who like rhythm games, or people who are just looking for something to play. And if you are just getting into the game, you're in for a ride.

Honestly, I have no idea what to rate this game out of ten.
10 of my 11 hours played were all me making custom music levels and having fun doing so, challenging my friends to play those levels.
The last 1.7 hours were spent playing *actual* levels from the game.
So... worth the buy, can recommend, but definitely... a weird situation for my review, lol.

Soundodger+ is a bullet-hell game with wonky hit registration and an inconsistent hitbox. It's a music game without the ability to add your own music, with (while not terrible) not amazing music. Ultimately, it's a game that fails on all fronts while also being a rather miserable experience to actually play. No thank you.

WARNING: This game is soon going to be delisted, as Warner Bros., the owners of Adult Swim and Adult Swim Games, has decided to delist multiple games, including Soundodger+. The reason why is not known, however it is likely that the cause is a failure of the new Suicide Squad game. Buy this game soon, or if you run out of time, buy it from itch.io. It isn't likely that Bean will be able to do anything to solve the issue, as apparently the company isn't allowing the copyrights of the games to the original creators.
UPDATE: Today is a good day. You can still buy the game, since it's no longer owned by Adult Swim Games.

Una mecanica preciosa para aprender y masterizar en la vida de uno. Los niveles hasta normales son dificiles, pero todos se sienten justos cuando te golpean. Me costo entender cuando es dañina la hitbox, ojala estuviera un poco mas explicado eso. Pero el juego es justo, divertido, tiene temones y es disfruton.

Despite the "rhythm" tag, Soundodger does not feature rhythm-based gameplay. Rather, the concept is exceptionally simple: Just move your little dot around with the mouse and try to avoid the many projectiles flying across the screen. You can click the mouse to slow down the action if things get too hectic, but that's about the extent of the mechanics.
There is simple joy to be had weaving around waves and waves of triangles, but Soundodger's strength lies in its presentation. Projectiles are fired out in rhythm with the stage's song, and your play field rotates around creating projectile swirls and patterns that often have a hypnotic, kaleidoscopic effect. There is a minimalist approach to color and shape usage that works to the game's benefit, allowing the patterns to dazzle without compromising playability. Each stage's patterns have been crafted with intent and end up having their own personalities and idiosyncrasies that make the stages feel distinct from each other. The music's also quite good, with an energy that helps guide you even as it creates anxiety.
Despite Soundodger's simplicity, it gets very difficult. You need not only a steady mouse hand but to be in tune with your peripheral vision and anticipate gaps to escape webs of streaming projectiles. You can't play the hardest levels right off the bat, as they are progressively unlocked as you beat the available levels and accumulate score percentages. The later levels seem pretty impossible to escape unscathed, at least for my limited ability, but it's interesting to see how wild things can get.
There is an editing mode where you can create your own levels with your own music, but I haven't played around with that. You can also auto-generate levels for MP3s you have, but while they're certainly playable you can definitely feel the lack of flow and intent that comes with hand-crafted levels.
Soundodger is challenging and engaging and worth playing if you like twitch-based mouse games.

This is legitimately the only rhythm game I've played that has autogen levels that work with things that aren't like, standard dance music, I don't feel like I'm fighting a computer with no clue what it's doing to play my favorite songs, I can tie every bullet in the bullet hell of this game to the sound it originates from almost effortlessly. I've only played a little but it's truly amazing for that alone
Yes
Control circle with mouse and dodge incoming cone bullets. You can predict from where they will be coming from, when they will be shot, amount of bullets and bullet pattern when you listen to the music. You do not have to move to the music. Your arena is a carousel and the cone firing guns are dancing around you, always changing positions and unpredictably by accelerating speed and changing rotation direction. Cone bullets can either be scripted following a predestined way or aiming at your current position. They can come in single shots, multi/burst shots or in sequence shots. There are bigger ball bullets and diamond homing bullets. The speed of the bullets can be slowed/accelerated by the game and there is a special mean rewind mechanic which lets bullets travel backwards and forth again several times. The game often mixes things up in every possible way making it very interesting and not repetitive to play. The difficulty rises from easy to hardcore throughout many levels.
The only negative in my book is, that you cannot change the background color so the white light as day of all normal levels will hurt your eyes. If you persist through the normal levels though, the advanced levels have a black background color which is far more comfortable for the eyes.

Not quite as good as I expected it to be. You sure need a sense of rhythm to complete the levels, however, what bugs me is that the level itself follows the beat, but not the moves you have to perform, which makes it feel very arhythmic.
To be fair, it was challenging and I had some fun. 5/10

I came across this game just looking through various Steam categories and it seemed somewhat interesting, so I put it on my wishlist to try out sometime. Just got it and my GOD how have I not heard of this game before
The gameplay is simplistic, but in a really good way, nothing over explained while everything is still clear. And the music.. jeez it's SO GOOD - great composers and really original songs that are very different from each other while still fitting together as one whole ost.

Quick Description:
-Soundodger+ is an oldie but a goodie. This is a really well designed avoid em up and is excellent value for the price point. Each level you will face a new set of projectiles all matching the tempo and speed of the song. This game looks so cool visually, has a killer soundtrack w/ tons of variety, and offers up consistent challenges from start to finish.
What's Good:
-The best avoid em ups have banging soundtracks and Soundodger+ doesn't disappoint. There are tons of a different tracks, and each one sounds great. The songs set the tone for every level b/c the movement patterns of the projectiles match the songs tempo and tone. This has one of the better soundtracks out there.
-This game looks awesome visually! It's a very simple look, but it works perfectly. There are lots of bright colors, tons of shapes, textures, and different types of projectiles speeding right at you. The screen will quickly be filled up w/ enemies trying to ruin your perfect run, but you will pretty much never lose track of your circle. It's a bit of minimalist look which is why they can get away w/ so many things happening on screen at once.
-There is a really well designed difficulty curve that will challenge even the most experienced players out there, but is still really accessible to beginners. This is an extremely easy game to learn although very tough to master. At first glance, you would think that projectiles are fired at random, but they are always line w/ the tempo of the song. You will get better and better and flowing w/ the song and avoiding taking damage.
-Tons of replayability! Getting 100% on any level is pretty challenging, and collecting a heart w/o taking damage is even more difficult. This will keep players come back for more. There is also a fully functional level editor that offers hundreds of fun and challenging levels.
-Soundodger 2 just released in early access this month and it's extremely fun. I'd highly recommend snagging this first if you haven't played it yet b/c it's a great introduction to the core gameplay mechanics and it's cheap as balls. $7 is an absolute steal.
Could Use Some Changes:
*These issues have all been addressed in the sequel
-There is only one powerup in the game. It's a slowdown mechanic that can help you in a jam. You will lose points off of your end game score but it may be worth it to avoid hitting a projectile. I would have loved a couple of different powerups to try out.
-You could argue that the aesthetic in this game looks a bit like a Flash Game. I was quite happy w/ the visual look and variety, but I immediately noticed a visual improvement in the sequel.
Thoughts:
-Soundodger+ is exactly what I was hoping it would be. I meant to play this years ago, and when I saw that the sequel was coming out, I decided to give this a try. I'm really glad I did. This genre is growing on me more and more. There are some great games on the market now and I'm excited to see how it evolves in the future.
Consensus:
-Solid Game (Tier 3 and makes up 35% of my reviews). This is a great game to play, become competent, and eventually master. I will be playing a lot more of both this and the sequel in the future, and this is an easy recommendation from me.
