Esse é um jogo que realmente se destaca pela sua história e gameplay no meio dos jogos de terror, com certeza merece respeito. A ambientação é ótima, com uma atmosfera que te deixa constantemente tenso. A história também é muito boa, e o jogo incentiva você a ler documentos e tentar entender, junto com os personagens, o que está acontecendo. Cada cenário traz novos lugares para explorar, o que deixa tudo ainda mais interessante.

Sobre a gameplay, o diferencial em relação a outros jogos do gênero é bem marcante. Aqui temos algo próximo de um roguelite, se você morrer com um personagem, outro continua a história do ponto onde você parou. Isso deixa a experiência mais dinâmica e até mais tensa, porque você realmente não quer perder aquele personagem.

Os enigmas são outro grande destaque. Como alguém que ama o gênero, posso dizer que aqui tem um puzzle melhor que o outro, você realmente precisa parar e pensar para avançar.

No geral, é uma experiência super envolvente. Recomendo muito para quem busca uma boa história e ótimos enigmas.

It begins with solid ideas, but loses steam halfway through.

[h2]The good[/h2]
The premise is great: a horror game with permadeath forces you to be careful and adds real tension to every decision.
Each character reacts differently to the environment, which is a nice touch.
The graphics are excellent, and the atmosphere is strong.
The story starts off intriguing.
Some of the puzzles are very logical and well designed.

[h2]The bad[/h2]
The interactions with the “Presence” (the main antagonist) are handled through minigames that rely on reacting to on-screen prompts. Instead of feeling tense and immersive, these moments come off as “game-y” and repetitive. In some cases, I barely even understand what’s happening because I’m too busy staring at button prompts instead of the actual scene.

Some puzzles are also poorly communicated, either in *what* you’re supposed to do or *how* you’re supposed to do it. A few are easier to brute force than to actually understand, even after solving them!

[h2]The ugly[/h2]
The multiple-character premise goes nowhere. They essentially function as extra lives for the one character that really matters (who forces a full restart if dead). They don’t meaningfully change exploration or abilities. For example, a character who supposedly lives in a location still has to solve puzzles to access their own space.

The story also doesn’t significantly change if any of them die. They just feel like expendable resources to push the main character forward.

There’s also a mechanic that plays with classic horror tropes, like forcing characters into obviously dangerous situations (think reaching into a disgusting toilet). Here, these choices can lead to permanent death, which is novel and even amusing at first. But later on, after conditioning you to avoid these traps, the game subverts the idea by punishing you for being cautious, killing a character anyway.

The game soft-locks at random points since the last update. ALL doors lose their action indicator and can no longer be opened. The following "fixes" do not work:
1: Closing the game and reopening it. Nope - soft-lock still in place.
2: Restarting the chapter. Nope - you can no longer open any door at all. The soft-lock appears to be in the save.
3: Starting a new save and going back to the beginning of the entire game. Nope, the soft-lock actually appears to be in something permanent in the game once encountered!
4: Verify files. Nope - still soft-locked as above.
5: Uninstall and reinstall. Nope, still soft-locked.
6: Delete all saves, reinstall. Nope, soft-locked right from the start.

Finally, uninstall, delete game folder, delete all saves, delete AppData or documents folder data depending on version, search for all references to "song of horror" and delete them, remove all "song of horror" data in the registry. Now it works but you will need to start all over again.

At this point I started again, moved forward, reached the middle of chapter one and "Here's Door Soft-Lock." Of course, this f'ing around means I have more than two hours in game and cannot refund.

*As these are no more updates for this game, do not buy unless you want to waste money.*

A very unique horror experience that properly shows love to the works that inspired it. It was able to keep me on edge the whole time trying to keep all the characters alive because of how serious the game handles the permadeath feature. There were some low points however. The puzzles mostly suck as the instructions given are either barebones or even misleading. I ended up looking up a guide for most of them. Environmental puzzles however were actually nice and made sense though. The story is very enjoyable and really liked how they the interpretation of the cosmic horror element of it all and how they connected the characters to the plot. Voice acting however leaves a lot to be desired. Some performances are fine but then you get the cop who had a really weird jamaican accent and the old man who was just kind of poor. All in all though, definitely a game that should be played at least once if your big on horror as a whole

Definitely a hidden gem. Interesting narrative, tense atmosphere, waves of fear and dread. Very little to complain about, the biggest thing is there's no keybinding. Had to make a custom profile for my mouse to use the extra keys for in game menus so I didn't have to reach my hand six inches over to reach I, M and J. Aside from that two puzzles/segments are extremely obtuse but the puzzles overall are great. Really enjoyed the development of the story, the details in the environment, and the interactions with different characters. Unfortunate there probably won't be more expansions on the universe with the devs having gone MIA.

看到不少評論說解謎的部分很隱諱應該是紙條或是探索的不夠詳細，我自己玩下來覺得隱晦的部分只有第三章的[spoiler]幻燈片[/spoiler]部分、第四章[spoiler]手術牽開器[/spoiler]的部分以及第五章[spoiler]撕碎的照片[/spoiler][spoiler]除鏽混合物那邊沒有翻譯，不影響解謎[/spoiler]。
jump scare除了那個大聲嚇人的雞爪部分玩到後面覺得很煩之外，多數的空間都有配合那個空間的特殊表演，這個部份我玩到超過100個小時也還是有發現新的部分，每次發現新的都覺得很新鮮，只是觸發方式很不固定有的看過很多次了有的都還沒看過(只在別人的直播中看過)。
結局的部分，遊戲都已經設計成人死不能復生的玩點了，在結局上卻沒有因果關係，[spoiler]至少多一個結局出來也好[/spoiler]，我覺得有點可惜。
最高難度的成就我提供一些建議，如果遇到暗靈不用找地方躲了，那個QTE按對也是照樣判你死刑，然後建議全程用跑的，雖然說跑步更容易吸引怪物但是我全程用走的吸引更多

我下面提供一些資訊還沒有玩的人斟酌觀看：

關於聽門的視覺補助是表現在臉部上面
如果遇到之前玩死的角色可以看他的對話內容，如果比較負面他不會提供道具反而會殺死你

Gioco schifoso.

Noioso, comandi di movimento disgustosi al pari di resident evil 1 nonostante abbia 20 anni di meno. 1% horror 99% "cerca l'item per proseguire". Mille puzzle che si mescolano tra di loro rendendo tutto lento, noioso, frustrante e quasi obbligatoriamente cercare online come proseguire.

Не рекомендую. Не смогли подступиться к второму эпизоду после прохождения первого. Во время прохождения первого эпизода пришлось снизить сложность на минимум, потому что во всех остальных системах дурацкая система того, что ты должен перепроходить игру если потеряешь всех персонажей. Вроде бы и классная задумка с тем, что у тебя на эпизод есть ограниченный пул персонажей, и вроде бы логично, что за потерю всех персонажей - game over. Но когда персонажи могут умереть от того, что они просто буквально вышли в окно, а вся игра сводится к прокликиванию кучи мест и возвращению в одни и те же комнаты, переигрывать совсем не хочется.

Базово прикольная хоррор-головоломка. Есть приятные моменты, но скорее всё же игра оставляет неприятные или ни какие впечатления. Лор вроде и есть, но в основном заложен в записках, которые просто ни о чём. Управление корявенькое.

SUBLIME....La HISTORIA, la DIFICULTAD de los puzzles es aún mayor que Tormented Souls que ya es decir....la jugabilidad también es genial... muy original la forma de enfrentarte a "El coco". El factor TENSIÓN es BRUTAL cúando te ataca "La cosa". La que más miedo da es cúando tienes que impedir que entre por la puerta, el corazón te va a mil por hora....La única pega que le pongo y que me parece un ERROR FATAL, es que han puesto el mismo botón de mover al personaje y el mapa!. Cúando tienes que correr te pones nervioso y si le das de mas a la palanca, pulsas L3 (el mapa). Si quitaran eso, sería un 10 / 10.
Espero más proyectos de éstos creadores,a mi me han ganado

CONSEJOS: Fíjaos bien en las características de cada personaje... Tendréis más posibilidades de sobrevivir si elegis a uno que sobresalga en fuerza (empujar puertas) y serenidad (cúando te escondes). El personaje de Alexander NO lo uséis, es MUERTE SEGURA cúando os toque lo de esconderos...es DEMASIADO miedoso y se sale de control el mantenerlo con vida.

PD: Para los LLORONES que se quejan de las muertes permanentes, se puede cambiar la dificultad del juego al inicio para eliminarlo, aunque la experiencia de juego ya no será la misma...vosotros mismos...

On paper it's a very cool concept but the puzzles are just way too obnoxious to the point that I found the game boring and not scary. When it is to a point that I have to look up a guide just to figure out a puzzle I consider that to be a failure of game design. Some very cool ideas and wish it was just executed a little better, But idk walking around aimlessly for 2 hours trying to figure out which of the 30 key items goes where and trying to solve ridiculous puzzles just gets frustrating. After a while it's not scary it's just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying.

Густая мистическая атмосфера, по хорошему напрягающие мини игры при встрече со злом и цепляющий, хоть и простенький готический сюжет о проклятой шкатулке. Звучит неплохо, но хорошие стороны напрочь разбиваются о тупорылую механику потери героев после их смерти, с необходимостью перепроходить ВЕСЬ эпизод заново(а это может занимать больше часа игры). Это не превозмогание в духе Dark Souls, это потеря всей хоррор атмосферы и превращение игры в забег от одной активной точки до другой, с чувством постоянного раздражения. Тот случай, когда одна претенциозная геймплейная механика хоронит в перспективе хорошую игру.

Si por lo que sea mueres con todos los personajes tienes que volver a empezar todo el capítulo y pensaba que podría elegir el segundo sin completar el primero pero no. Me enteré tarde que se podía desactivar la función de muerte permanente. Lo siento pero no pienso volver a hacer todo, una pena pero culpa mía también por no fijarme en las opciones.

Don't normally write reviews so this won't be too complex.

Great horror game, the permadeath made me feel attached to my characters and sad when I got them killed. The first two episodes especially are great, the third was fine (but I hated that last section), and chapter 4 had some annoying back and forth (though was still pretty enjoyable). The last episode was pretty short and simple, but it was cool to wrap up the story the way it did. The ambience was great, and I loved the variety of settings: mansion, church, asylum, etc. Overall, highly recommend for people looking for a horror game that feels like some of the classics. Much more reliant on dread as opposed to constant jumpscares, unlike some modern horror games, though there are of course still some that can occur.

Easily an 8.5/10.

Takie 5/10, losowe minigierki szybko zaczynają wkurzać, tu i ówdzie widać niski budżet, szczególnie kuleją animacje. Niektóre postacie, kobiety szczególnie, mają tak jakby kompletnie zniszczone uzębienie xD Finalnie polecam, bo lokacje są świetnie zrobione i muzyka idealnie buduje atmosferę.

I bought this day 1 and I forgot to leave a positive review. first all I'm glad the developers were able to even complete this game after not reaching the goal in kickstarter. I knew I had to buy this game at launch. it's such an unique horror game. there are multiples protagnists to choose from, each with their own unique skill. if he or she dies they are permanently dead.

from what I remember the game was too hard for some people and they did make it easier, and not sure if perma death is still here or affects the story. I still recommend this game as it gets horror right!

恐怖归恐怖，但这就是一款粪作。

这游戏几乎没有的线性剧情指导，必须要靠舔图摸索，还有一大堆无关紧要的交互物品来浪费你的时间，或者让你容易忽视掉关键物品。

QTE环节的玩法指导不明确 (比如控制呼吸，正常难度下也非常容易送命)。
从第二章开始，明显想学生化危机系列的跑图解谜，东施效颦，小作坊小故事就好好的做细节。还居然TMD有故意坑玩家的交互陷阱。真是操蛋了搞死你几条命就得重头开始，再把繁琐的事情再做一遍，纯纯浪费时间。

最傻逼的是一些迷宫，在缺少剧情指导和地图的情况下，你就像个无头苍蝇一样在大型茅房里面转来转去找屎吃。

这游戏就他妈的应该分章节卖，第一章就是拿来骗融资的，剩余几章都是从制作组屁眼子里蹦出来的粪作。RNM退钱。

The atmosphere is really good. I like the exploration parts and the story is surprisingly decent for a horror game. Really cool camera angles at some points and while I don't like the game being divided into episodes, there is a lot of variety here.

There are some things, though, that just spoiled the fun for me big time. I dislike almost all of the enemy encounters. The mini games are not scary, they are boring. I am not talking about the random event stuff happening, like a ghost suddently appearing or a door slamming really loud all of a sudden. These random events are scary and fun.

There were also too many puzzles for my taste and they were pretty hard to solve which sometimes seemed unfair but that could have been me.

Another point to make this game more frustrating than it needs to be is the fact that you have to redo an entire episode if your characters die for whatever reason. This game is not bad but the its concept and the encounters are too annoying.

One of my favorite horror games! My friend recommended me this game years ago and we've played it a while on her console back then. Later i bought it for myself on steam and even got all achievements!

STORY
It's about a cursed music box that plays a melody. Everyone who listened to the cursed song gets horrible nightmares and hallucinations until they kill others and/or themself. The main character is Daniel. He wants to find a way to get rid of the cursed music box.

GAMEPLAY
The game has 5 big chapters. In each chapter you can choose a new character. They all have strenghts and weaknesses. You can also choose between 4 difficulties. Be warned - the hardest difficulty (H.P. Lovecraft) is no joke and your character can die easily! Once a character dies, he stays dead for the rest of the game and a new character will continue the chapter. If you don't want that - make backup saves!
In this game you have to find clues, solve puzzles, listen on doors, hide or fight against the darkness. There's a lot of walking and interacting. Fighting the darkness needs a lot of key spaming or precise mouse movement.

GRAPHIC
The graphics are ok. It has a certain charme to it. What you'll like is the atmosphere and the backround noise. It gives the chapters a specific vibe or creepyness. That's actually one point that stands out a lot for me. It's what gets me back into the game.

ACHIEVEMENTS
All achievements are kinda easy, they just take time and multiple playthroughs. I recommend PSNPROFILES (Website) for the full achievement guide. I also recommend making backup saves when playing on "Edgar Allan Poe" and higher.
And here's a small tip for the achievement "A parting gift":
- start Chapter 4 on M.R.James
- choose Ernest
- go to the insta-kill-door in the Refectory
- RIP Ernest :,)
- choose Sophie as the new character
- continue the chapter
- Ernest's ghost will spawn in the Refectory or in the close area
- listen to what he says, if it sounds kinda positive, it's save to interact
- if it's something negative, don't interact or you'll die

BUGS
I came agross one bug: Every time my character get's surrounded by tiny wind-storms and starts panicking, my game freezes. Then I'll have to go back to the library and repair the data and only then I'm able to continue playing.

This game needs a movement mechanics mod. Not being able to map controls is ridiculous, not idea why that was left out. Makes the game unplayable.

Looks nice, but no way I'm going to fight with controls especially with walking pace so slow to begin with.

This game is amazing! That more people don't know about it, is as tragic a story as the one in the game! The option for losing characters ups the stakes for solving the mystery. The scares are clever, and with them being random, I just had no idea what was coming next. I like a game that keeps me guessing. Sound design also helps to ratchet up the tension. My only real issue, and it wasn't a deal breaker, was that it didn't have a control scheme for a Playstation controller. I did just fine with keyboard and mouse though. The controls were easy to pick up. Highly recommend for anyone who loves that classic horror game feel, and likes a challenge.

Song of Horror hat mich gelehrt: Türen schließen allein reicht nicht – sie öffnen sich trotzdem, wenn du gerade wegläufst. Und diese Geister… ernsthaft, ich habe eine Sekunde nicht hingeschaut, und schon waren sie wieder da, als würden sie meine Netflix-Wahl kontrollieren.
Humorvoller Horror trifft auf pure Panik – ich lache, während ich gleichzeitig aus dem Fenster springen möchte. Perfekt für alle, die Angst, Spannung und ein bisschen Wahnsinn lieben. Oder für alle, die einfach mal ihre Nerven testen wollen.

La historia, a quien le guste el horror cósmico, le va a gustar. La jugabilidad es original (más o menos). Los puzles son entretenidos y la mecánica de escuchar las puertas es lo más curioso (genial para jugar con cascos). La exploración de escenarios es buena, la consiguen hacer inquietante con el efecto luz del personaje (vela, linterna...). Se logra el terror psicológico y ambiental (me encanta el efecto de abrir una puerta y que parezca no haber nada al otro lado; la nada; el vacío). En ocasiones, plantea escenas que, desde un punto de vista literario, son (¿filosóficamente?) hermosas (habitaciones sin puertas, pasillos infinitos...). En general, ha sido una experiencia entretenida (8.00).

Schöner Oldschool Horror in fantastischen und abwechslungsreichen Kulissen. Ein ständiges Gefühl der Bedrohung und tolle Rätsel! Mich hat zunächst die Tatsache des Perma-Death von einem Kauf abgehalten, auf dem niedrigsten Schwierigkeitsgrad gibt es diesen jedoch nicht, so dass ich nun endlich auch auf meine Kosten kam und diese Horror-Perle genießen konnte.

Dazu eine Spielzeit von etwa 20-25 Std.

I really enjoyed the playable character mechanic, where you can loose characters permanently. It ups the stakes a bit and actually makes you a bit nervous, which is good for a horror game!
It can be hilarious at times if you misread a prompt and immediately get someone killed in a stupid way - did mean i had to restart a few chaptrers because I kept yeeting people out a window by accident.

Surprised this is indie. It is so well made in many various ways. Some puzzles were too cryptic tho and the Lovecraft difficulty was punishing as its a luck based game half the time, due to its unpredicable nature.

J'ai terminé le jeu pour l'intrigue, cette partie était sympa même si je n'accroche pas trop à comment la fin a été mise en scène.

Pour le reste c'est des idées cool sur papier mais très mal implémentée et fait un beau cas d'école sur pourquoi les survival horror comme RE, Silent Hill ou même Crow Country marchent mieux.

Punir un joueur par des mini jeux flou et potentiellement mortel c'est vraiment pas une bonne alternative à juste forcer une gestion de ressource vie/munition et des simple ennemies qui te punissent. Je suis sur que c'était adaptable à leurs systeme de personnages... C'est vraiment dommage.

El juego es bastante bueno, pero hay varias cosas que no me gustan:

1) Los personajes mueren de manera permanente, si mueren todos
tienes que empezar el capitulo desde el principio esto es algo molesto,
sobretodo si eres de los que les gusta conseguir todos los logros.

2) Hay muchas muertes ramdon y muchos puzzles, algunos son muy
complejos tanto que te obligan ha buscar la respuesta por Internet,
enserio no es broma tienes que ser agente de la CIA mínimo.

3) Aunque el juego lo ha echo una empresa española no tiene voces
en español... Por que? No lose, pero me parece muy feo eso...

4) Mucha gente dice que el juego da miedo.... Pero no es cierto
o al menos en mi cosa ya que el exceso de acoso de la "Presencia"
(La cosa mala que te persigue por el juego) te sacan del rol y te hace
perderle el respeto al juego, obligándote a chulearte de ella cada dos por tres.

Great game!

Song Of Horror starts off very strongly, with the most interesting chapter in the whole game in my opinion.
The whole setting in this big, creepy, dark mansion, some unknown entity lurking around every corner, hiding behind every door, puzzles and the fact you can forever lose your characters. This sounds to me like a mixture for a good horror game.

I enjoyed how mysterious The Presence was for the majority of the game. I absolutely loved the subtle little scares, there's hardly any real jumpscares in the game, and a lot of it (especially the amazing 1st episode) are a lot more subtle, maybe a figure appears somewhere, not really announcing itself, and then you look again and it silently disappeared, maybe a door closes itself around the corner. I feel like later in the game those particular, subtle events don't really happen anymore, and just resort to the more generic ones that can happen basically anywhere, but they still get the job done.
I also find certain events that I'm pretty sure can kill your character if you wander into them (I can't really confirm this because if I enter a room that changed into an impossibly long corridor and wandering into it makes my vision blurry, I'm getting the f outta there, never to see the event ever again xd) very interesting, and I find that the game even upon loading - would not repeat same events and surprise me with a new one on a different occasion.

The game uses some insta-kill spots too, but I will say - they don't feel cheap at all. They all really do make sense if you take the time to analyse the circumstances and the information at hand, and other times The Presence really does try and trick you very sneakily.
Also, I have to compliment the usage of characters that you lose! They may appear again in the chapter, actually - and they may pose a new threat themselves, or they may not. I thought it very creepy and very much in theme with the game.
Each episode the game introduces a new threat. What that means is basically [b] how [/b] you would defend yourself against it. And no - there is [b] no [/b] combat in the game, you have to run and hide which adds to the tension, really making you feel like a powerless little bi*ch stacked against impossible odds.
Every new encounter basically means a different minigame, from "go hide and hold your breath" to "hold the door down" etc.

The controls may require more modern audience to get used to it, but if you're a little older, I don't think you should have a problem with tank control system. The only issue I had with it personally is when the camera angle changes as you're holding the button, adding another input or letting it go for split second will reset the orientation which can end up making your character spin in a circle when you [b] really [/b] don't want to spin in a circle, just a mild annoyance really, very easy to get used to.
Oh, and sometimes it feels like the camera angle should change a little bit quicker, like at times where it want's you to go to the end of the big room from one end to the other, you're meant to look at the items at the end there but the camera happily hangs in the opposite corner, not allowing you to see where you're going or what you're looking at. Doesn't happen very often but there were instances where it did happen.

Graphically, I must say the game looks stunning, and the atmosphere is so thick you could slice it with a knife.
Also, worth noting - the game only plays up to 60fps, can't go above that (maybe with some tinkering in the config apparently) but in all honesty - somehow I could barely even notice it, and I puke when I see games locked to 60fps normally.
Audio is really creepy as well. Hardly any music really, but all the sounds mask up the lack of it. I could often hear floorboards creak behind me, something that sounded like footsteps would approach from behind every now and then, doors knocking and stuff like that.

I feared a lot that the longer the game went on the less scary it would be, maybe the threat from The Presence is more trivial later on or something?
Nope. Throughout the whole game I felt just as vulnerable.
Similarly, I felt perhaps the levels would get a lot worse after the amazing mansion in the 1st episode?
Well, at certain points I felt like it wasn't the same anymore, but honestly, there was not a single location I disliked. Well, apart from the library, which is a short section only thankfully.
I had the same exact concern (once again) in regards of the "monster". Will the devs dumb it down at some point and turn this mysterious being into a dumb zombie or something?
Well, once again in the library there was a part involving The Presence that made it seem really dumb to me. Like all the mystery was gone and it was just this stupid monster thing, but thankfully that came and went, and the game continued on being creepy. I think the very next level actually, involved something that looked like a zombie, and I fully expected the game to take a turn here and present me with Resident Evil-like creatures (hey, I love RE, but that's not what I wanted from this game) alas, I misjudged the game once again, and it managed to avoid slip-up.

One actual issue I had were some of the puzzles. Most of them are perfectly fine! They can be fairly easy, others you're going to have to sit down and read what information you have, decipher this and that and it's really good, everything makes sense and everyone's happy. Then other times the puzzles feel so ridiculously obscure, even with a guide on the side (yes, some puzzles had me stomped to the point where I just looked them up to avoid frustration) and if my life depended on it - I could not tell you how the weight of the sun = the wind blows at 12,4mp/h in South Africa so therefore 13x4 = Eagle if you turn it upside down and count backwards.
Seriously, some of the puzzles drained me like Sasha Grey drained you know what.

Overall though, I really, really enjoyed the premise of the game, the setting, the atmosphere - all phenomenal, despite difficulties and a bit of frustration with certain puzzles.

Una autentica joya del terror.

Entiende mejor que ningún otro juego este concepto. No te persiguen monstruos, no puede combatir, tampoco es un juego de esconderse ni de sigilo.... Entiende lo que realmente causa miedo, la sensación personal de que algo que no entiendes esta ahí, que no puedes combatirlo y que no sabes cuando ni como, pero va actuar. Es la obra que más a entendido y ejecutado el terror lovecraftiano o "horror cósmico" del autor.
Para los que no saben nada del juego o han jugado y lo critican por absurdeces, este juego no tiene screamers programados ni momentos predifinidos. Es un juego donde los eventos de terror son cuantiosos y procedurales, haciendo que te pases el juego y al ver a otra personas digas "anda, eso no me paso a mi". Además, nunca estas a salvo y es que una entidad "te observa" y reacciona a como juegas. Si corres, si tardas, si pasas muchas veces por determinados lugares.... se va alterando y te responde con eventos, que unas veces te asustaran, otras te harán tomar decisiones con poco o ningun pretexto salvo tu intucion o, generaran minijuegos donde deberás esconderte para no morir. Y es que otro plus para ese terror es que la muerte de tus personajes es permanente, haciendo que si pierdes a todos en el capitulo o en algunos, a Daniel (el principal) tengas que reiniciar el capitulo. Esto hace que tus decisiones sean cuestionadas continuamente.
La historia es magnifica, yendo de menos a más y con un cierre tipico del horror cósmico.
Quizás a los personajes les falte algo de carisma, pero el hecho de que cada uno tenga un perfil diferente y no sean una skin, le da un toque más al juego donde un señor borracho lleva muy mal mantener la calma en los eventos pero es más fuerte para bloquear la puerta o un policia puede usar su pistola como una vida extra.
Otra critica licita son los controles con mando, el juego es muy jugoso para jugarlo con mando pero en los eventos minijuego a veces no funcionan del todo bien y eso puede ser fatal.
Los puzzles son otra maravilla. Son en su mayoria dificiles y te hacen pensar, pero a excepción del maldito[spoiler] puzzle de las diapositivas [/spoiler] todos son muy originales y ejecutables.
En definitiva, si sabes llevar la frustración que te puede causar una dificultad que esta ahí para mantener tu tensión al limite, es una obra de arte que para mí, es de los mejores juegos de terror que se han hecho nunca.

Recensione dopo una trentina di ore di gioco.

PREMESSA
"Song of horror" è la declinazione moderna-indie del survival horror a inquadratura fissa. Ci ho giocato subito dopo essermi confrontato con Resident Evil 1 Remake (2008) e aver acquistato e restituito il Resident Evil 2 remake recente (che ho trovato tecnicamente perfetto ma senz'anima).

Laddove RE1 dava un senso strisciante di tensione, SOH è veramente un gioco dominato dal costante terrore.
Troppo, probabilmente.

Partiamo dai difetti, allora.

DIFETTI
Troppo terrore rischia di non terrorizzare più.
A volte la sensazione è che certi jumpscare siano veramente a caso e fuori contesto, cose che non hanno nulla a che vedere con il tema del gioco e il nemico da affrontare, e troppo presto impari che certe cose non preludono a un vero pericolo; avrei preferito un po' più di messa a fuoco sul tema, e più senso della misura.
Okay qualche incidente casuale (roba che cade, roba che salta OGNI TANTO) ma un terremoto o dei glitch visivi allucinatori rischiano di diventare troppa roba e "non ci credi più"; e ci sono troppe entità. Sembra che con questo gioco gli autori abbiano voluto mettere in atto e visualizzare TUTTI i tipi di paure e di manifestazioni spettrali che esistono, e questa cosa risulta dispersiva e poco seria sul piano della trama. Inoltre la frequenza dei fenomeni è mal gestita. Dipende da quanto "rumore fai" ma a volte è troppo lo stesso e ci si rende conto che molte manifestazioni sono innocue la cosa perde fascino.
Ma il vero problema sono le casual death e le situazioni di pericolo stile arcade: se hai quattro personaggi con permadeath non puoi fare come con le vecchie avventure Sierra che (letteralmente) giri un angolo e qualcuno/qualcosa ti uccide, diventa scorretto e frustrante. E anche le situazioni di assalto spesso sono mortali perché è facilissimo sbagliare il ritmo nella persone dei tasti. E quindi la modalità di gioco prevista dagli autori, quella con i permadeath, in sé affascinante, diventa impossibile da affrontare, e ti ritrovi a toglierla, ed è un vero peccato perché era molto bello tenersi stretti il personaggio con le unghie e con i denti e volerlo salvare a tutti i costi.
E andando avanti la frequenza e cattiveria degli altri diventa insostenibile.

Infine: alcuni puzzle sono molto belli ma poco logici (le chiavi, il proiettore, il sensore, nel mio caso) e sei costretto a guardare i walkthrough. Not good.

MA ALLORA IL GIOCO NON CI PIACE?
Il gioco, malgrado i jumpscare puerili, qualche enigma così così e la difficoltà calibrata malissimo, mi piace.

Intanto perché revitalizza l'avventura horror a inquadratura fissa (la ripresa si muove, in modo molto fluido, quindi c'è anche modernità e dinamica, ma l'inquadratura predefinita che mostra e nasconde a scelta degli autori dovrebbe essere un must e infatti in tanti la amiamo).

Girare da soli con una torcia o candela per una villa buia, dove dietro a ogni porta può esserci "la presenza", con suoni e segni a ricordarti che non sei da solo, è meravigliosamente inquietante. Su questa cosa gli autori hanno creato una macchina quasi perfetta. Se potessi gli direi solo di calibrare un po' meglio gli spaventi e la difficoltà alle prossime creazioni, magari facendo più beta testing. L'idea del permadeath è coraggiosa e bella ma davvero andrebbe collocata in un gioco dove le casual death sono rarissime.

La grafica è superba, con quei colori smorti da horror che ormai sono un classico, la pioggia, le atmosfere perfette (complimenti vivissimi ai designer dei luoghi, è tutto meravigliosamente credibile e inquietante). La scelta è quella di un taglio realistico ma non in modo eccessivo, comunque disegnato/creativo, con uno stile definito che non piega tutto al realismo fotografico, e questa cosa funziona benissimo.
Forse in tutto questo splendore avrei curato di più i visi, che nelle inquadrature da vicino sono un pochino inespressivi (soprattutto gli occhi, a voler essere pignoli), ma questi sono solo dettagli da critico antipatico. Voglio sottolineare che si tratta di una produzione INDIE che compete e vince per grafica e gameplay e originalità rispetto a molti classici e giochi moderni AAA (e l'horror è una materia delicata e difficile, non basta "spendere più soldi" per farlo bene).

L'audio è ultra convincente: i rumorini che ti creano la tensione, le musiche giuste. Perfetto.

COME GODERSELO APPIENO?
Il mio consiglio è di provarlo per qualche giorno con il permadeath attivo e vedere come vi trovate, magari siete bravissim* e sono io che sono una pippa (cosa probabile).
Partite usando prima i personaggi che vi piacciono meno, e quando muoiono, o se vi rendete conto che con il permadeath attivo non riuscite, proseguite togliendolo (si può modificare in corso del gioco il livello di difficoiltà, strano ma utile) o ricominciate da zero (sapendo le cose ci vuol poco).

Una soluzione che ho trovato ideale è questa: partite con il permadeath con un personaggio non fondamentale o che non vi piace molto, e cercate di mantenerlo in vita il più possibile (è molto bello tenere la tensione e cercare a tutti i costi di sopravvivere). Poi se muore passate a un altro personaggio, disattivando il permadeath e concedendogli, diciamo, cinque recuperi, e al quinto lasciatelo andare; quando muore usate un altro dei personaggi dandogli vite infinite.
E quando vi bloccate a lungo guardate i walkthrough. Alcuni enigmi sono scemi e basta.

PARERE FINALE:

Gioco indie con pretese altissime, in gran parte realizzate.

Morti improvvise che mal si adattano al permadeath (che in sé è un'ottima idea coraggiosa che ti tiene agganciato alla sopravvivenza del personaggio), che fortunatamente è disattivabile ma resti con la sensazione di "non star giocando come l'avevano voluto gli autori" (la sfida però resta, molto alta).

Atmosfera meravigliosa, grafica superba, audio dosato alla perfezione, tutto adeguatamente inquietante.

La tensione eccessiva a tratti rischia di non convincere; troppi elementi narrativi "di spavento" puerili o fuori contesto che rischiano di rovinare l'atmosfera e strappano persino qualche risata (che potrebbe non guastare, ma guasta); ma questa cosa non rovina comunque l'esperienza generale.

Promosso nell'insieme, lo consiglio a chi ama l'horror a inquadratura fissa in stile Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Alone in the dark.
Dubito avrete la pazienza di completarlo ma l'esperienza vale la pena lo stesso.

It's really frustating, the game has a lot of bugs and autosave makes it worse. There is no way to exit the game, forcing me to shut down steam every time i try it.

When the protagonist dies the game is over but thanks to autosave i got stuck where the game goes on without him. I humbly ask for the developers to at least disable autosaving, thanks to that my save of almost 20 hours of playtime got screwed.

The game itself is good but with these problems mentioned it's barely playable.

I'm ambivalent about this game - there are certainly good parts and there's fun to be had, but as the game progresses the puzzles get more and more obtuse and by the end I was just glad to be done with it. Definitely a mixed bag.

29h Spielzeit (wenn man die 4h nicht mitzählt, die ich brauchte um jedes Kapitel noch einmal zu widerholen) auf Edgar Ellen Poe! Der vorgesehene Spielmodi um die ganze grenzenlose Spannung, Faszination, Angst und Verzweiflung des Spiels zu erleben! Hier ist Permadeath dein Bester Freund und dein schlimmster Feind. Habe ich gerochen, dass das Ende eines Kapitels naht sind mir kurzerhand durch Panik und Kurzschlussreaktionen alle meine Charaktere flöten gegangen. Ich hab noch nie so viel Spaß gehabt (NICHT) xD Die Story ist nicht schlecht. Nimmt einen gut mit und etwas zu verpassen ist beinah unmögliche ABER willst du wissen, was das absolut beste am ganzen Game ist? DIE RÄTSEL ZU DENEN DU KEINERLEI INFORMATION bekommst HA!!! Die sind mit Abstand das beste was ich je gesehen habe! Wer sich das ausgedacht ist ein richtig fieser mieser...... liebenswerter Mensch *Dinge die ich schreiben würde und die der Wahrheit entsprechen verstoßen gegen die Richtlinien xD*

Wenn du das Spiel in Ruhe und ohne Panik vor Permadeath spielen möchtest, tu dir selbst den Gefallen und spiel es auf Hoffmann. Da ist es möglich Charaktere zu behalten und an Speicherpunkten zu starten, wenn du stirbst.

Ich wünsche jedem mit diesem Spiel eine wunderschöne Zeit.

Song of Horror is a fantastic survival horror game, it doesn't cheap out with incessant jump scares and builds an oppressive moody atmosphere that will stay with you.
I recently had severe technical issues with the game which rendered it unplayable however I had reached out to Protocol games and Ignacio was kind enough to help me work it out.

Bought this awhile ago and finally got around to playing. At first it was exactly what I wanted. An old style horror game with clunky mechanics and puzzles. I got thru the first chapter and then in the second chapter I died. Annoying but fine. Came back as a new character and went to retrieve my lost items and I was missing a vital item making my game broken. I would have to restart the whole chapter, do a bunch of walking around and collecting items all over and I just don't have that in me. I was annoyed enough my character died during an event I had no issue with previously and now I have to do all that over? No thanks.

Also, including permadeath moments for merely investigating is frustrating. Maybe using a different icon to represent these moments would help?

Song of Horror is, without a doubt, my favorite horror game of all time. It gets everything right: the pacing, the atmosphere, the subtle but brilliantly placed jumpscares, and that slow burn feeling of dread that never lets up. It doesn’t rely on cheap tricks — every scare feels earned, and the tension is always building.

The characters are one of the best parts. They’re all unique, and they react in ways that feel true to who they are. No one feels like a cliché “horror victim” — instead, you get a cast of people whose personalities really shape how you experience the story. The puzzles are also fantastic, clever without being unfair, and perfectly tied into the environments and narrative.

The structure of the game is genius too. The episodic format makes every chapter memorable, and the permadeath system means your choices truly matter. Losing a character isn’t just frustrating — it changes how the story unfolds, and that gives the game a weight most horror titles don’t have.

What I love most is how the game proves you don’t need combat in horror to make it engaging. Instead, the mechanics make you feel constantly under threat: holding a door shut while something pounds on the other side, hiding and trying not to move, escaping when shadowy hands drag you toward another dimension. Every moment is tense and terrifying, but in a way that serves the atmosphere, not just action.

And then there’s the overarching story and tone. It has a strong Lovecraftian feel — mysterious, otherworldly, and unsettling in a way that lingers long after you stop playing. The world, the episodes, the mechanics, and the story all come together to create something unique and unforgettable.

For me, Song of Horror is the gold standard of horror games. 10/10. Every horror game should aspire to be like this.

Si recomiendo es como jugar al Resident Evil Remake con la camara, los mapas y detalles de los objetos son muy lindos.

Si da miedo ya que me concentre bastante y la musica de suspenso te hace poner tenso

Los puzzles??? Como siempre digo los puzzles no son lo mio asi que realize un speed run con guias de Steam por que nada, osea es un juego de terror brother. Vengo a asustarme no a hacer un examen de la univesidad

De que va la historia??? No tengo ni idea por que seguro lo detalla en los textos y papeles que hay por ahi, pero como no leo ya que soy un hombre de accion no se que son los bichos o que hacemos o que buscamos.

Solo se que me gusto explorar los mapas y pelear contra los bichos.

8/10 ( -1 Por tener mucho puzzle y -1 por no tener combate PVP ni usar armas)

Different stories, characters and places. some of puzzles are easy and some of them are not.
There is one thing that I don't like which is there a lot of unnecessary details. But you can just skip them.

Nails the atmosphere—creepy houses, eerie tension, and the constant feeling of being watched. The presentation and story setup are solid.

That said, the pacing didn’t click with me. The game leans heavily on exploration and puzzle-solving to progress. Instead of feeling terrified, I often found myself stuck trying to figure out where the last key item was or how to solve a riddle. For me, that pulled the tension out of the experience and made it feel more frustrating than scary.

If you’re into slower-paced, puzzle-heavy horror where solving riddles is just as important as surviving the scares, this game will probably be right up your alley. But if you prefer relentless, chase-driven horror like Outlast or Alien: Isolation, you might find this one a bit too slow.
