In its art style, this game gives the impression that it will be a very chill and whimsical experience. It is whimsical, for sure. But chill it is not! This game is *hard*. I have taken a lot longer on levels than I expected because I kept falling down. Sometimes I've even had to quit and restart the level later because I was getting tired. That being said, the challenge doesn't feel that frustrating, and it feels good when you overcome it. I think this is a great game and more unique than it might look, with its unusual platforming mechanics being quite enjoyable once you get the hang of them.

Das schlechteste beider Welten: Zu schwer und auch noch zu wenig Checkpoints.

Gleichzeitig behandeln dich die nicht abbrechbaren Tutorials wie ein dreijähriges Baby. "OH NEIN! Die Kristalle fehlen. Wir müssen sie wiederfinden!"
Ja. So wie im Level davor. Wenn man jetzt nicht eine Stunde lang am Collectible scheitert, war das vor einer Minute.

Very very conditional recommendation. The controls are snakey. The challenges are challenging. But... sometimes it feels like the snake just doesn't wind around things the way you would expect. Only recommended for people who like challenging controls of wiggling as well as repeating areas as you plummet off bamboo poles.

Great art, great feeling of movement, solid music and sound. Longevity of play added thru collection of challengingly placed objects and timed speed runs. Otherwise expect a 4-9 hour game, depending on how often you fall.

I hate the controls so much. Something conceptually simple like "coil around that stick" is a nightmare to execute. You literally need to be doing 4 things with your hands at the same time. It's very easy to forget which of those 4 things does what, and fall to your death.

Fun game, best played in moderation.

Initial clash with the very unusual control scheme may be a bit of a shock. It's an odd game. Takes a bit of getting used to. At first I had no clue what I was doing. My hands were lost and my poor snake kept falling off of things into its demise. After playing it for a while I still had no clue what I was doing. But my hands? Oh man, my hands sure knew. Obstacles that were once impossible became second nature and my snake was slithering through the levels at a brisk pace. The only thing holding Snake Pass back is that there's not all that much variety to it. The levels start feeling repetitive if you just binge them. It's a great game to boot up and play a level or two, but not something that works for a multi-hour session.

Ca faisait un petit moment déjà que j’avais entendu parler de ce jeu : un jeu de plateforme avec un personnage sans patte, qui ne peut donc pas sauter (et même pas marcher). Le concept est plutôt original, et effectivement, je n’avais jamais joué à un jeu de plateforme où pour avancer vite, il faut slalomer, où pour monter, il faut s’entortiller autour de ce que l’on peut, s’accrocher, assurer son assise, avant de se déplacer un peu plus haut, un peu plus loin, et de se raccrocher le plus vite possible en s’entortillant à tout ce que l’on peut. Le jeu n’est pas particulièrement difficile à terminer une fois qu’on a bien pris en main le pad et compris ce principe. J’ai pu donc pousser à le finir à 100% en collectant tout ce qu’il y avait à collecter. Recommencer les premiers niveaux et fouiller partout étaient assez rigolo, mais assez vite, j’ai préféré aller voir la localisation des pièces et autres feux follets, car ce qui m’amusait était de comment les récupérer sans mourir, plutôt que de fouiller partout pour les repérer. Un petit jeu sympathique donc, avec un concept original, et que je suis bien content d’avoir pu faire à l’occasion de cet event.

Que jogo bom! Um plataforma em que você nao pula, gozado né? Isso torna o jogo charmoso e muito desafiador (uma criança nao zera nem fodendo isso aqui kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk) enfim, acabei de terminar a platina e se forem jogar façam, é muito legal e faz valer muito mais a jogatina, se voce so faz os objetivos principais vai sentir que o jogo é "vazio". Bom, de ponto negativo, só diria a camera que em alguns lugares ela deixa um pouco confuso mas nada que atrapalhe a experiencia, vao sem medo.

Snake Pass is a really unusual physics-based platformer. You won’t be jumping or running in the way you’re used to. You control a duo: a snake (either a cobra or a python) and a tiny hummingbird. The story mostly takes a backseat, since all the attention is on the gameplay.

The game has 15 levels, and in each one your goal is to collect three crystals (yellow, pink, and green) to unlock the portal to the next level. For those who love to scavenge every nook and cranny, there are extra challenges: over 20 blue bubbles and 5 golden coins. The coins are hidden in the trickiest, hardest-to-reach spots, acting as mini-secrets for the most dedicated players. And the blue bubbles make the snake bigger, but that doesn’t make it any easier to control.

Physics and controls are both the game's main highlight and its biggest pain point. The developers say the snake’s physics is “unrealistic but believable.” And that’s totally true: you can really feel the weight of the animal, how it flows, and how it grips surfaces. The snake doesn’t feel like some plushy sausage — it has inertia and personality.

But here’s the catch: keyboard controls. Holding down the left mouse button, space, and maneuvering with WASD to keep the snake from tumbling off a ledge isn’t easy. The game clearly seems built for sticks. Luckily, the developers recently confirmed Steam Deck support, and honestly, I think this project shines best on consoles or with a gamepad.

Over time, the levels throw increasingly tricky obstacles at you: from simply wrapping around bamboo poles and underwater sections to levers and wind-based puzzles. The hummingbird isn’t just there for looks — it helps lift the snake’s tail or toss you between little islands, which becomes crucial in the later stages.

The game runs on Unreal Engine 4. No bugs, everything runs smoothly, but subjectively, the graphics feel a bit too glossy and sometimes a little cheap. It’s not entirely clear why this style was chosen, but that’s a matter of taste.

So, Snake Pass is great for developing spatial thinking. It’s a game that makes you think differently, not like in standard platformers. Despite the slightly tricky controls on PC, I can recommend it to anyone looking for a fresh gaming experience and who doesn’t shy away from a challenge.

作为一种新的游戏创新来说非常值得肯定，但是玩起来很多地方差点意思。
有的地方利用旋转来增加难度，但是除了导致晕3D没有很大的作用。
蛇头的位置有时候会莫名其妙的改变，导致死亡重来。
相对来说游戏的难度是摸清楚蛇模型的重心，摸清楚之后可以展现各种老油子操作。
只是通关的话游戏时长不长，但是操作模式的关系，玩几关必须休息……玩了好久才打完

2D/3D platformers offer some of the most straight forward and entertaining challenges that most can jump in with no issue. There's plenty to collect, improve, and master as the player to keep yourself hooked for many hours. But here comes what is probably the most unique "platformer" to exist, Snake Pass.

Contrary to every other game in the genre, you can't jump, attack, or move normally. And there's also no bosses, lives, or power-ups the more you progress, mainly because your just a limbless snake.

As a result, you REALLY have to learn and master these controls, as you'll mainly be shuffling on the ground to move, wrap yourself around poles and such to traverse the landscape, and use your body in varying lengths to acquire whatever collectable on your way. You even have a cute little bird companion who offers support by grabbing your tail, which can be a lifesaver in certain situations!

It's somewhat similar to other games that have a frustrating way to "play" like QWOP or Getting Over It, but while those games are designed on purpose against the player, this game is a lot more compact and the difficulty ramps up just enough where it feels fair.

This game will not be for everyone, and I can see how this will turn off players who can't gel with the controls, especially since it can be very easy to get agitated with failure the more you progress. If you are down with the set-up and want a really unique challenge; with a short but creative 15 levels, your in for a really interesting adventure that will test you in ways you didn't think was fun!

Snake Pass is a simple concept with remarkable execution, and it really deserves a lot of praise for what it's achieved. If you're interested in games with unique controls - things like Getting Over It or QWOP - but feel like those are a bit too focused on being hard rather than enjoyable, Snake Pass is the perfect middle ground.

Snake Pass is, overall, very simple. It has a simple story that just gives you a goal to follow while snaking around, and light touches with music and atmosphere support the meat and potatoes of this game - the controls. (If you don't enjoy learning new control schemes, this probably isn't for you.) The adaptation of a snake's movement is the core of the platforming challenge; figuring out how snake locomotion works is exactly what makes this game so fascinating. Noodling around with Noodle and finding new ways to overcome obstacles is a refreshing variant on the platformer genre which can sometimes be extremely formulaic.

I think it was a good call to make Snake Pass light on story and heavy on gameplay. If it had been any more complicated, or if they had spent less time getting the controls to work like a well-oiled machine, it wouldn't have achieved what it did. More story or more presentation would only have distracted from the experience.

Overall - this is a wonderful gem of a game, especially if, like me, you enjoy novel twists on platformers using unique control schemes. Snake Pass is such an obvious labour of love that I find myself coming back to it again and again.

Peguei esse jogo por ser de plataforma e bonitinho, logo, deveria ser tranquilo e relaxante....sabe de nada inocente.

Aqui você é a cobra Noodle, que junto de seu amigo Doodle, o beija-flor, vão ter que encarar uns desafios de plataforma de forma um pouco diferente: apenas rastejando e se enrolando nas coisas, pq cobra não pula, cobra não voa.

O jogo é bem difícil no começo, mas a medida que você vai pegando os itens das fases, você vai aumentando de tamanho e assim tudo fica mais fácil, mas nem tanto assim. Tente só pegar todos coletáveis após terminar o jogo para evitar frustrações desnecessárias.

Os devs moderaram bem no pico de dificuldade, pois as fases poderiam ter um nível "pau no cú" se eles quisessem, por causa das mecânicas de movimentação.

Apesar de ser difícil e frustrante em algumas partes, o jogo é curto e simples de completar, o que é muito bom.

What a wonderful experience this game was. Calling Snake Passage a 3D platformer kinda undercuts how very different it feels from any other 3D platformer out there. It's a one of a kind expierence, which I can wholehearedtly recommend to anybody who's not afraid of trying out new mechanics. The controls are tight, although understanding how the snake moves warrants getting used to. The level design is great, and the coins and all the other things you can find throughout the levels never felt like they were hidden in too obscure places, although some were a real challenge to get to.
That being said, do not, and I repeat, do not buy this game, IF YOU DON'T HAVE A GAMING PAD, as this game relays heavily on fine movements of the movestick.

Visuals: The game looks great, I love stylized graphics like that.

Gameplay: Most of the obstacles were fun to navigate and deepened how I was moving the snake. I finished the game in around 10 hours and decided to not go for 100%, in part because of the wind mechanic in the last levels. It could be very frustrating. Maybe it's a skill issue, but I felt like my mastery of the movement didn't help me in those levels.

Story: Pretty much inexistant. There's hints at a story, but it kinda falls flat.

Audio: Pretty generic, but it fits with the theme and didn't get annoying, which is good for this type of game. The voice of the snake was weird.

Playability: Controlling the snake can feel very satisfying and mastering the control is great.
At time, I felt like the controls and camera were fighting a little against me.

Fun little game, I give it 3.5 / 5.

Fantastic slow-paced platformer. I will say though, this game absolutely MUST be played on a controller, and I suspect many of the negative reviews were from people that attempted to play on mouse and keyboard. Having only the cardinal directions in a game where you're wrapping around circular poles is a recipe for frustration.

Snake Pass se ha ganado un puesto entre mis plataformas preferidos de todos los tiempos.

Tiene una jugabilidad única y desafiante, en principio puede parecer algo tosca o tediosa la movilidad, pero una vez te adaptas a ella se convierte en un juego altamente adictivo.

Buen diseño de personajes, niveles y banda sonora.

Es aconsejable completarlo con todos los coleccionables ya que por el contrario el juego resultaría demasiado sencillo.

Recomiendo su compra sin duda alguna! Y recordad, si necesitais ayuda solo probad a pedirla ;)

Osobiście uważam, że gra jest bardzo przyjazna dzieciom, ze względu na kolorystykę i proste obsługiwanie węża (choć z początku trzeba się przyzwyczaić). Sam pomysł na sposób poruszania się postacią wymagał na pewno bardzo dużej kreatywności, co jest dużym plusem - szczególnie grafika i płynne animacje. Gra sama w sobie jest krótka do przejścia (fabularnie), można to zrobić praktycznie w ciągu tego samego dnia, ale historia jest nadal ciekawa. Mimo wszystko cena jest w miarę adekwatna, ze względu na wkład w grafikę itp. Jedyną przykrą wiadomością jest to, że gra zapewne nie będzie kontynuowana pomimo zapowiedzi w pokazówce o dalsze przygody dwójki przyjaciół. Polecam, ale w skali od 1-10 dałabym takie 8,5/10, ponieważ przyjemnie spędziłam na tym czas.

I'm not sure how I never heard about this game. I only found it while browsing the animal game sale, and I'm glad that I did! The gameplay is so unique, fun, and clever. I had a lot of trouble controlling Noodle at first, but once I got the hang of it, being able to scale bits of precarious bamboo became very rewarding.

I made it my mission to get all of the collectibles in the base game without any help, and I did it! Took me 11 hours total to play through the main game, while grabbing every collectible. Very worth it, especially considering that there are still time trials and an arcade mode I can try out.

I also love Noodle! His design is so cute. I've always loved playing games that let me be an animal, and one that lets you be a snake AND utilizes all of the unique movement of a snake??? Amazing. 10/10

Definitely worth $5-$15. I dont think this is worth the full $20.

Everything is polished. I will say I wish the controls for moving forward and tighten grip were on the shoulder buttons so it would be easier to alternate between these. They really got the moving like a snake thing down. Never thought I would be mentioning that as a plus to something. With trial and error you will get better at the controls. Points for polish, originality, and level design. I will say there is a real sense of accomplishment when you accomplish something and when you are quickly moving like a snake up scaffolding.

Im very happy with my purchase, but wouldnt pay more than $15 for this.

Snake Pass has solid gameplay unlike any I have played before, with a pretty environment and a cute snake to look at the whole time. Takes a minute to figure out the wrapping mechanics, but becomes a (mostly) cozy platformer once you do. I highly recommend this if it is on sale, and recommend it to avid achievement/collectible hunters at normal market price if they can spare the cash (very interesting achievements in this one).

P.S. I strongly recommend a controller.

[i]Snake Pass[/i] is an Incredibly clever take on the 3D platformer where you slither and coil (instead of run and jump) to the end of each level. With its unique premise of playing as a snake, the game finds its most satisfying moments in a slower paced design that challenges the player's ability to plan ahead and make deliberate movements. There can be tension and frustration no doubt, like the slow crawl past long-winding geometries only to fall from hastily reaching for collectibles, but similarly the high sense of achievement of successfully maneuvering past these challenges is second to none. Thus if its unique premise with a more tactical-approach to 3D platforming seems interesting, I recommend you give [i]Snake Pass[/i] a try but just prepare yourself for a lot of falling.

Un buen juego con una premisa tan interesante como un juego de plataformas sin saltos. Artisticamente es muy bonito y tiene la duración justa y suficientes modificaciones a la jugabilidad como para que no se sienta demasiado largo.

Por otro lado el movimiento de la cámara en momentos llega a ser problemático, en varias ocasiones vas a morir porque la cámara no te deja ver lo que tienes alrededor, y la física de la serpiente es mejorable. En el movimiento normal de la serpiente, al reptar por el suelo, se siente bien, sin embargo al trepar por los troncos la sensación es de que la serpiente es un gusano de gominola en lugar de una serpiente. La serpiente no es capaz de quedarse quieta colgando sino que se resbala constantemente, incluyendo aveces estando agarrado, y muchas veces parece como si apenas tuviera fuerza para alzarse a si misma. ¿Llevamos a caso a una serpiente con perdida de musculatura por una vida sedentaria?

Aún con todo eso, el juego me ha gustado y no descartaría jugar a una posible secuela si mejoraran las físicas de la serpiente y la colocación de la cámara.

Eu comprei esse jogo há muitos anos atrás e não dei a chance que ele merecia. Joguei apenas 30 minutos e larguei, julgando os controles como imprecisos e o gameplay como disfuncional. Agora em 2025 peguei pra jogar de novo porque ainda tava com uma pulga atrás da orelha com esse game, e como eu estava enganado! Esteticamente maravilhoso, rodando super bem no meu PC que não é de primeira. Músicas do David Wise que considero no nível mais alto dele, ao lado de DKC Tropical Freeze (apesar desse jogo ser menos numeroso em músicas, tem apenas uma trilha por mundo). E o gameplay, quando clica, fica incrível!

Se você comprar pra testar, jogue pelo menos até a fase 1 do mundo 2 para julgar se você realmente não gostou. Você vai morrer bastante, cair nos buracos e ficar sem entender porque, até você entender como usar adequadamente todos os movimentos do Noodle. Pra mim foi assim, chegou um momento em que o jogo clicou e ficou incrível de jogar!

edit: uninstalled and reinstalled the game and controller support works fine!

snake pass is delightful, however i prefer to play games like this on a controller, and even though steam states that snake pass has controller support, I could not get my controller input to work with the game. the issues snowballed from there.

The keyboard/mouse controls are a little weird but functional. The wonky keyboard controls did get me killed a few times and changing key-binds has a 50% chance that the new binds don't even take to the program which is frustrating. it would have felt so much better to just use my own controller.

please have the developers fix this issue immediately because otherwise its a very fun and whimsical game

There's no stupid story or anything extra; it does one thing excellently and isn't pretending to be something it's not. After you play this game you will never again complain about tank controls in a game because you have experienced SNAKE CONTROLS.

Not Worth the Frustration - 3/10
I wanted to like Snake Pass, but the controls turned it into an absolute nightmare. You're constantly juggling multiple buttons just to make basic movements – forward, grip, lift tail, camera control – it's like trying to pat your head and rub your stomach while doing calculus. What looks cute and simple quickly becomes exhausting.

The "thinking like a snake" gimmick sounds clever until you realize it means wrestling with physics that feel like controlling wet spaghetti with broken arms. Simple tasks become infuriating ordeals. Wrapping around poles requires precise timing of multiple simultaneous button presses, and one tiny mistake sends you plummeting to restart.

Despite the colorful graphics and cheerful appearance, this is absolutely NOT a kids' game. Young players will be frustrated within minutes. The difficulty spikes hard after the first level with zero warning, and there's no accessibility options to help struggling players.

If you want a relaxing platformer, look elsewhere. This demands the patience of a saint and finger coordination of a concert pianist. Maybe hardcore gamers who love punishment will appreciate it, but for most people it's just tedious and exhausting. The controls don't "click" – they clunk.

Si te gusta sufrir este es tu juego. Jugando a este juego empezaba a sudar, como si fuera al gimnasio.

Bajo una inocente apariencia de un juego de plataformas en 3D de estilo infantil, como podrían ser Mario Bros, Donkey Kong, Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, etc. Se esconde un infierno. En primer lugar por los controles de la serpiente, y segundo por la cámara, que tienes que mover constantemente mientras estás controlando a la serpiente. Quiero pasarlo bien, no sufrir todo el rato. Es el Dark Souls de los plataformas en 3D.

Simplemente no.

This game is genuinely so bizarre, like who on earth was this game made for? It is clearly marketed towards kids in the same way games like mario and spyro were, but then it has these wack controls that by the time you have gotten the hang of em, you've finished the 15 levels of the game. That being said though, once you do get the hang of the controls, going back and 100 percenting the levels' collectables is actually pretty fun.

Weird game that you gotta really give a chance, although it is quite short.

So, I've had this game for many years, and only now just finished it. I loved it. I thought the parkour mechanics, we're super unique and fun to figure out! I've had this game for so long that I started it as a kid and finished it as an adult xD. I had got this game around the time some life stuff was going on, and I'm really happy to have finished the game. If you're reading this and are still unsure of the purchase, do it. I can't recommend this because of the controls. This is not how a snake's body works. I was intrigued at first, after all, the premise sounds interesting, but it becomes frustrating quickly, especially when you want to collect all of the orbs and coins.
Only the first third of the body actually helps you climb, and the rest is dead weight. It becomes particularly frustrating when you're trying to coil around a tube, only for your tail to go limp and drag you down into the abyss.

The control scheme is not good and it is explained even worse. You are told to move by slithering, though that only moves the front part of the snake while the rest of the body anchors you to the ground and prevents you from moving forward. That is not how a snake body works - it is one big muscle that it can move and tense instead of it being 80 % limp dead weight.

I did not have such issues first years ago, so I guess the game got worse somehow. The game has "move forward" control, though for some reason it is not working. How do you mess up moving forward.
