I recommend this game for some quick and simple dogfighting fun, and/or if you have time to spare, but no emotional or mental investment available.

For me it was an impulse decision, based on the fact I wanted to play a plane game, I didn't have a dedicated one yet, and this was on sale. For this use-case it is ideal.
It runs crazy well, even on an office laptop. On a different computer, I got 400 frames on a 1050 Ti.
There's mods in the workshop (which are typically either reskins or unbalanced by vanilla standards, but still really fun), and a split screen co-op mode to have a damn good time with.
I don't believe I'll stop playing this game in the near future.

There are so many small issues with this game, that annoy me more the longer I play.
[i]-The enemies tend to cluster in certain, seemingly somewhat randomly chosen areas later, which causes massive problems for anything that can't outrange them, later in the game, because the swarm will tear you to shreds like angry piranhas.
-Sometimes certain mission targets simply commit to spiting the earth itself, and as such cause trouble with their ritual self-sacrifice.
-Some weapon stats are misleading, or falsely stated, and actual details regarding weapon functions are not given in the game itself.
-As with the previous: Some upgrades do not affect some weapons in certain ways, despite the game telling you they do.
-The game lets you earn tokens to buy a "headstart" into the campaign. Yes, you will start at a later point, but you will have very few resources, and be either slightly, or extremely underpowered, relative to the enemy scaling.
-For some odd reason, on multiple devices now, the game occasionally decides, that it does not want to take controller inputs anymore. My dualshock just doesn't work anymore, and my flight sticks only work halfway, or not at all. I can usually fix this by reconnecting the controller, but it's bad this can happen while in a dive, or otherwise during a mission.
-You can't adjust most of the settings once out of the main menu. This includes keybinds and graphics.
-The music volume adjustment does not work reliably until a reload of the scene/game. If you enable it after loading a save, it often doesn't play at all, except for brief snippets of two seconds at seemingly random times.
-It seems like a lot of stuff, that could and should have been ironed out long before they concluded development.
-Oh, and the enemy catalogue, that only updates after you've killed something, is at best a bad model viewer, because it doesn't tell you stats, and has very little flavour text. There was an attempt, but it was half hearted at most.[/i]

I like this game, I enjoy it a lot, but it has some very rough edges to deal with.

Only reason why the dev made this a roguelite was because he wasn't able to figure out the difficulty. Took me 20+ hours to beat the game only for the final boss to have a oneshot attack without any other mission having prepared me for that point.

With the game giving you infinite ammo you'd like to think that the game intended for maximizing kills to fully upgrade your plane but no.

most videos I've seen on this game are people ignoring every single building and hostile plane beelining it for the objective without upgrading zilch.

Missile tracking is significantly stronger and more difficult to avoid than in Project WIngman or Ace Combat 7 and I cannot in good faith recomend this unless you are exclusively getting it to hangout with a friend IRL who is already into the plane combat "sim" genre.

This is a remarkably fun Sim-super-lite. it's not really a sim game (very basic controls, works very well on a controller), simple polygons, plenty of interesting planes to choose from. But where this game really shines is in split screen multiplayer. My kid and I had a ball playing this game together when he was younger, which also means the game is pretty accessible, as well.

The game was a rollicking good time to play. We spent about 40 hours playing through the entire game. Later missions of course get more difficult, but still lots of fun. Some tactics were needed, but nothing a pre-teen couldn't handle. Overall, I'd rate this as a recommended. Don't expect a deep story, or realistic physics. It's just plain fun in 3d space.

I'm really surprised no big publishers have stolen this idea yet, so for something like 9 years now it's the undisputed champion of roguelite arcade 3d flight combat games. It could be better in some ways, I guess, but if you want to play a roguelite arcade 3d flight combat game, you're hurting for choice. So if you enjoy the idea of a roguelite arcade 3d flight combat game, you can't really go wrong here.

I really really really want to like this game, but there are some major issues with how aircraft are balanced around maneuverability and weapon loadouts.

Essentially, if you're not flying a light aircraft don't expect to outfly anything, but also don't expect to be able to kill anything in a timely manner. All other aircraft are unfortunately garbage with no redeeming qualities. Bombers move in a way you expect and can take exactly what weapons you expect them to, but every aircraft type in the game is stunted by its inability to either take out targets quickly or turn quickly. Weapons outside your wheelhouse of specialty are too expensive to take even a single one of, with the option for four total weapons, this just seems like a major design oversight. The "balanced all-rounders" cannot take a variety of weapons and are restricted to basic missiles and basic guns. Why? Nothing can do both well enough to warrant trying it, long ranged air-to-air is extremely useless due to enemy craft turn speeds, and since all other aircraft are essentially sitting ducks, your only option is to play a light aircraft until it has max upgrades and then try to rush down the remaining mission objectives until you win the game. This takes forever, because you are stuck with basic weapons on these aircraft. This mostly matters with ground targets that don't move, because as mentioned, air targets can move faster and turn quicker than missiles. The only hope you have of hitting them is when they just randomly choose to not turn away from missiles chasing them, or head-on engagements where they over-extend and quickly breaking off before their missiles get to you. The AI just doesn't know how to win this exchange, but will otherwise engage you at a perfect 500 meter range, every single time. If you are extremely, extremely patient, you could outrange the enemy with a slower aircraft and constantly return to base to win missions, but I imagine this would get exceptionally tedious very quickly and take you a very very long time.

The wingman drones have been the only thing that give me enough breathing room to actually take out targets while outnumbered, you just don't have the turning speed to dodge missiles and put things down at the same time. This would be mitigated if every enemy flyer weren't the fastest turning set of aircrafts in the game.

To give you an idea of how unbalanced this is, the non-postgame aircraft with the highest turn speed is the DEFAULT enemy aircraft. Its turn speed stat is by default 20% faster than ANY other aircraft. Typically, it's much more than that. When you finally unlock it, it EASILY dodges missiles and its turn speed can be increased to 1.5x the base turn speed. This is DOUBLE any other aircraft, and MORE THAN DOUBLE most of them. In later missions, enemies run this upgraded version. This wouldn't be an issue if you were not fighting a group of 3-10 of them at any given time with a forced loadout.

I might be able to deal with the lack of availability of viable weapons if average enemy turn speed wasn't such a massive, massive issue.
Just...Why? Who decided this?

This game is decently fun, but is definitely on the rougher side of what you will find on the market.

When I first purchased this title, I had virtually no expectations for it, outside of the existence of the workshop, which was itself enough of a draw to get me to purchase the game. Really, I was hoping for a workshop and roguelike version of Project Wingman. What I got was a fun product, that I put on a Steam Deck to play offline in travel, which it excels at. Despite it's untested nature, the game is evidently functional on the platform.

As the name implies, this game is a roguelike-title that sees you attempt to work your way through twelve standard levels and one dedicated boss stage, across three standard worlds (and one boss world). In terms of roguelike mechanics, you the player collect research points and money throughout a run, where money is used within runs for procurement of up to three levels of upgrades for all of your systems and planes (Which is to say four systems and the plane itself. For me, this typically looked like flare upgrades, cannon upgrades, rocket upgrades, AA missile upgrades, and Micromissile Upgrades, in addition to my plane). When you die, all of your money is expunged and the upgrades lost, so you are really incentivised to spend it. Research points, by contrast, are used for game-wide procurement, which allows you to procure new aircraft and subsystems to use in the game. This includes a pretty wide array of equipment, from the aforementioned subsystems to Air-Torpedoes, MIRV Air-to-Ground platforms, bombs, and even more futuristic items, such as railcannons and laser blasters. In terms of airframes, the selection is modest but capable, with planes divided into the roles of bombers (High payload, or ground selection capability, at the cost of avionics, or the air-to-air selection allowance, with high durability and low speed), interceptors (fast but weak aircraft, with an avionics focus over payload), or fighters (the jack-of-all-trades aircraft that boast middling speed, armor, payload, and avionics). Each aircraft also possesses a wide array of skins. Money and research points are acquired in-game through dealing with primarily optional targets in missions, where most missions only require you to destroy a few specific targets before you can progress, with a notable increase in difficulty between worlds. To that end, the game does a good job of providing an array of optional targets in positions that are often dangerous to pursue in gameplay. Really, though, this generosity showcases the biggest weakness of the title itself; the balance of the game.

Based on several posts by the developers of this title, the intended way to play this game revolves around building up a fleet of capable aircraft that are well suited to several specific tasks and intentionally selecting aircraft for missions: if a mission involves shooting down a flight of AWACs craft, you ought to have an interceptor on standby, if a mission involves destroying a radar array, you ought to have a bomber, and so forth. In reality, this is not how I, nor anyone I know, plays this game. Typically, we just build into a strong, jack-of-all-trades fighter that can solve the game, which means we aren't spreading our upgrade points across numerous planes. If you eliminate all of the targets on early levels (and you should, since the increase in difficulty makes getting money in later levels substantially more inconvenient), you can have a fully maxed aircraft before the setting change, which completely throws off the balance of the title. Without a need to stick around and build capital, there is no reason not to just rush the myriad of decently well-crafted main objectives and bug out. In fact, doing so is the optimal way to play, given the increases in enemy armaments. Thus, there isn't really much progression after the very beginning, making the roguelike elements of the game quite stale. And yes, you can take on optional challenges to make the game more difficult from this point, but you are never really prompted or rewarded for doing so, with progression through game-wide upgrades being quite sluggish. This is worsened by the huge difficulty disparity across mission goals, which range from simple tasks like "blow up this big, glowing, immobile monolith" to "fight a flying battleship and several waves of hyper maneuverable fighter jets." Really, the lack of scaling makes levels more RNG than a difficult climb. That's not even to mention the awful final boss, whose presence is identical in every run on the final day. The final boss is incredibly bad;
[spoiler]With the first phase being a clever attack on a floating platform against static defenses and a few squadrons of fighter jets, the fight starts off as an incredible test of your flexibility as you juggle ground and air management. Once done, the player can take out some support pylons to summon an hounest to god metal gear, which is an incredible looking setpiece that forces the player to engage powerful weapons at extremely close range in order to best it. While this phase can be annoying, it is quite the spectacle and I never felt cheated by it. The final phase, however, tops Bioshock for the worst final boss in games I've played. The mech's head will take flight and boast a health pool that is an enormous bullet spoonge, whose main attack is trying to ram you in midair, forcing you to either deploy back-firing weapons that are useful exactly no where else, or "joust" the bloke. Jousting will literally take over an hour, at the distance you have to move away from the boss in order to dodge safely, and it's just not fun. It feels like a gear check in a game otherwise befit with choice in approaching problems and is just unfun after the spectacle of prior stages. Combined with Roguelike permadeath, this had ended so many of my runs in the final minutes that it wasn't even satisfying to best[/spoiler]. From gameplay clips on the web, it seems like most players don't even bother with the boss in vanilla, which is really indicative of how out of place it feels. My last point of contention with the game has to do with control rebinding, which you cannot do from within a match (it must be done in the main menu), which is a huge deal to me since plane controls are more about fine tuning the exact feel of how I play the game, not really a one-size-fits-all approach.

If you can get past these quirks, however, you will find a fun dogfighting game that is fit for quick games against seemingly overwhelming odds, that you can even play in Co-Op, topped off with a small but dedicated workshop community. The soundtrack is short, but fun, being quite reminiscent of Ace Combat or Project Wingman songs, but in a more arcade-like presentation.

別にこのゲームが特別魅力的というわけではなく、steamにおいてmod抜きで空戦を楽しみたいなら、消去法で本作かProject Wingmanの2択になります。

空戦に興味があるならエースコンバット7に目が向くでしょうが、あちらは雲や雷や砂嵐、識別に時間がかかって敵か味方か分からないゴミみたいなギミック、やたらと多い時間制限や騙し討ちミッションが多すぎてまともに遊べる出来ではありません。

ローグライトな空戦がやりたいなら本作、リアルな空がいいならProject Wingmanを買いましょう。

もしも真面目に攻略するのなら、後半のステージは敵機の群れに突っ込むと常時アラートが鳴るくらいに囲まれるので無視して、ミッションの目標だけ破壊したらさっさと帰りましょう。
交戦したいのなら、ミサイルを撃つよりもスペシャル枠に装備する後ろの敵機を狙う機銃で逃げながら攻撃するのが楽です。
ミサイルを撃つよりも確実に落とせます。
自分はこんな戦い方したくないのでワークショップで冗談みたいに強い武器と冗談みたいに強い機体をダウンロードしました。
マニューバが80以上に設定されている作品はどれも強いです。

One of the best arcade flight games out there. When I bought this game I was really looking for something that would be like a modern Rogue Squadron 64 and it really manages this perfectly. It also has avoids the trap of many roguelites where everything is underpowered and unsatisfying until you get an rng perfect run. Pure fun - no fluff, no filler.

Sky Rogue is an underappreciated gem. It doesn't have the hyper-realistic flight model of DCS or the photorealistic graphics of MS Flight Simulator. Instead, it's pure fun!

It hits a sweet spot where it's more sophisticated than an arcade game- just enough to give you a real sense of flight - but not so complex that you can't pick it up and immediately start having a blast.

It's also set in an interesting world where flying aircraft carriers are the norm, the wide selection of planes are all original, and you can customize your load out with a variety of weapons that run the spectrum from normal to wild. It's almost like being in the Air Force in the world of G.I. Joe.

The difficulty level ramps up steadily but doesn't feel unfair, and as you play you permanently unlock new weapons and planes, exactly as you would expect for a game that's 100% focused on giving you a great time shooting down planes, dodging missiles, and blowing up a variety of targets on land and sea. Oh, and you can shoot down the enemy's flying aircraft carriers. Like I said, it's all about fun (and replayability).

The polygon graphics won't stress your computer in the slightest, but work really well for the setting and add to the charm. The music isn't extraordinary, but is upbeat and never gets annoying.

It's also modable, and there are a TON of player-created planes! Want to fly a plane from Macross, Xevious, R-Type, or Silpheed? They're all there.

I play a lot of sims and semi-sims. Sky Rogue is a guilty pleasure. It's a nice break from "serious" sims, and something I'm always happy to come back to. Yes, it's an old game, but it's just as fun as it's ever been, it's cross-platform, runs on a potato, and supports a HOTAS. What more can you ask for?

Incredibly punishing difficulty curve. Even when clearing days 1 though 5 perfectly, day 6 and beyond jack up the difficulty to the point of instantly punishing you for even minor mistakes due to scaling enemies 4 fold, or tracking missiles doing 3/4 of your health, even with top tier aircraft.

I love rougelikes (~400 hrs on dead cells, ~30 hrs on spiritfall within 2 weeks of buying), and steam keeps recommending me matches made in heaven for this genre. I have enjoyed war thunders sky battles in the past, and being able to play it in a rougelike form is amazing. Would definitely recommend, although might be a bit niche. Also, being able to run this on a crazy old mac is amazing, I never would've guessed that this barely needs any RAM.

Wizard of Legend: top down rougelike
Clone drone: kinda rougelike ish, really fun with friends, a bit less by self.

It is a fun game once you figure out how to play it. There is a total lack of instructions. Seems to be a common theme these days.
But it's biggest downfall is a total lack of save game.
I get in real life you only get one chance, but this is supposed to be a game. Let us save save progress while we explore the undocumented game FFS!
Let us SAVE the fecking game play.
Launched into a swarm of aero platforms .. blat. GAME OVER. Start from day 1 again. This game needs a makeover to make it into an actual playable game.

Это секс про самолеты, наверно единственная игра про самолеты которая мне понравилась в которую до сих пор играю еще с сырой пиратки.
В одно время это довольно простая аркада, летаешь без гравитации, но с другой есть где мозги повыебать, даже ракеты с автоприцелом не всегда попадают, если хотите зачистить всю карту: как не в пиндюрится в землю, как не просрать хп от самолетов, турелей и прочей поебени, какое оружие выбрать на какой самолет
Оружия и самолетов куча наверно на любой вкус и цвет, миниганы, неуправляемые бомбы, ракеты, инфрокрасные ракеты, самонаводящиеся ракеты(хотя самонаводящиеся наверно тоже скорее инфракрасные, ими сложно попасть в цель), самолетов куча, истребители, бобры, вроде есть стандартный самолет у него хп побольше, но летает так себе, а есть комариная залупа которая летает как надо, но дохнет от случайных плюх.
Есть несколько режимов игры, я пробовал только компанию и уж не знаю к сожалению или к счастью часто проебываю в ней и прогресс обнуляется, наверно это единственное что мало приятно, а так под пиво самое то

Не знаю, откуда такой нереальный рейтинг, но вообще это просто криво портированная поделка. Вот буквально что вы видите в описании, процедурно-генерируемый воксельная как бы авиаркада с геймплеем уровня не выше девяностых. Даже не знаю, что я ожидал, ну каких-то механик интересных, оружия, схемы управления для ПК нормальной...

Hidden gem of a game that tragically isn't updated anymore. Even so, there's still lots of content and replayability here, not to mention all the steam workshop content. So many interesting planes, weapons, and builds you can try out in a fun arcadey gameplay loop. Co-op is unfortunately local only which means having to use steam remote play and has some jank (like mouse flight not working in co-op) but is otherwise a blast if you can make it work.

I really hope this game gets a resurgence one day, it scratches an itch that few other games do.

I'm giving it a negative but only to highlight my problems with the game; it's not a bad game in itself; everything works, but it's lacking in gameplay for me.
First thing that stands out; controler works, but there is too much things to assign, so you will have to compromise on sth - I did target tracking and targeting on the same button. In tutorial buttons shown on screen won't even match the default settings (still controller, it works on M&K afaik).
Flying feels like you pretend to fly your toy plane as a kid; I don't feel any momentum, it's super easy to stall and ruin your maneuvers; it may sound weird, but it's almost like controlls are too reponsive. Also, a dedicated dodge button? For me it highlights that controlls just aren't good and its a bandaid sollution. After playing games like Ace Combat and Project Wingman I may have a little too big expectations, but there are fun, arcade flying games that feel good and this one just doesn't cut it for me. Then again, it's a finished game and you may enjoy this VERY arcade-y flying model, so if you have money to spare, why not.

汉化不是100%，像飞机的名字还是英语的，武器也是英语的。
前1小时很无聊，但开始解锁新的战斗机后，就有意思了。中期赚钱可以用轰炸机，飞哪哪炸没，血量又高。
歼击机比较考验微操作，赚钱慢些，但很刺激。
推荐打折入。

What if you took an aerial combat game with Star Fox-esque graphics, and made it a roguelike? You'd get this masterpiece. It's incredibly fun, the weapons are satisfying to use and fun to try out, and the build variety from the vast number of planes and weapon combinations that you progressively unlock as you blow up more and more enemies makes the replayability skyrocket. The only downside with this game is that it's BEGGING for online multiplayer rather than just the splitscreen co-op (online PVP would slap, but even just online co-op would add a lot of value as well, and would easily take this game from a 4/5 to a 5/5 for me). Though, if you manage to pull it off, the splitscreen co-op slaps regardless (whether you're IRL or manage to get steam play together to work). Definitely worth it if it's on sale!

Fun and colourful arcade aerial combat. Lots of planes and weapons although unlocking things might take a little while. I still haven't managed a win yet, it's pretty difficult later on; you really need to practice strafing runs to effectively get in and out of harm's way.

EDIT: It works with my 'new' T.Flight X HOTAS as well. You should be able to map most controllers of this type it would seem.

This is... exactly what I was looking for. I was a huge fan of the Dynamix "Aces" series (think Windows 3.1 and 1991!), but never found anything else that was procedurally generated. Much less what I wanted because I wanted homing missiles, better graphics, etc.

Now I have it "acquire"!

Now, I got this here so I could get some stuff from the Workshop, I would recommend some weapon packs and the Zhenya fighter mod (forward swept wings, basically let's you have any weapon combination you wish, and flies 50% faster than other aircraft IF you accelerate - 150% faster with a booster so you can outrun missiles!)

It's a nice-to-have.

Also, the universe is apparently loosely based on Metal Gear, because... well, you'll see. Get to Level 15 or so on the story mode. And beware that the boss has MULTIPLE FORMS! First time I "beat" it, it transformed and hit me with a death ray...

Tips:
Make sure you save up money and ONLY spend on upgrading your aircraft and PREFERRED weapons.

Long range is king, generally,

Dogfighting is a lot easier with the all-aspect/360 degree aspect missiles (can lock onto enemies even behind you, and yes, such things actually exist in real life)

The deployable drones are gimmicky, they don't work very well. But they didn't work AT ALL in past versions and it's satisfying to see them take down an enemy!

Boost is best item

You can land BEFORE completing the assigned mission to restock flares/drones/limited special ammo weapons (all missiles, bombs, and guns are unlimited ammo, very arcadey and fun). You can even switch airplanes from anti-air to multi-role or ground attack to clean up the last few ground enemies after stripping air defense! Landing AFTER mission complete ends the level. Landing to restock before mission completion costs money!

Your money is your score

Hold Spacebar to auto-look at your current target quickly from any angle

Level biome changes ever 4 levels

After beating the boss you get a homing laser machine gun for your aircraft, capable of attacking both air and land/sea targets. You may also unlock a couple of new fighters, I don't remember.

Missiles are dumb or smart. Smart (homing) weapons EITHER attack air OR land targets, not both - only exception is the unlockable homing laser.

空战街机风格有创意工坊武器配置有一定自由度机体类型多但是数值平衡一般打的比较刺激所以还是很好玩的

基本上需要先对空再对地/对海然而空战机很难兼顾对空以外的任务所以不如对空机只带空对空轰炸机只带炸弹然而这又需要频繁回家换飞机

答案是不如把分屏合作加一个P2P联机
