I dont understand the hate for this game. Its a very solid entry into the COD-Zombies/horde mode FPS genre, with very visually unique maps and a very cool aesthetic. Yes, the player base is dried up, and yes, it has a layer of jank that is pretty undeniable. But its a very focused, fun game, especially given how the COD games are all getting more futuristic and insane. Im having a great time and will continue to enjoy this game, despite how negative the discord community was about me having positive thoughts on the game.

Sker Ritual is a good entry into the COD Zombies-like genre. Something about it really reminds me more of the COD WW2 era Zombies more than anything. There's a thin film of jank on this game - just the same jank as WW2 zombies.

The dark atmosphere and steampunk weapons fit the genre well. There's a reasonable sum of weapons and enemy types present, with a few very different maps to switch things up. Overall, the game's pretty good. For the most part, it doesn't deviate far from the traditional Zombies formula. The cosmetic progression is exceptionally slow and unremarkable.

Beyond a few maps and game modes, there isn't much else to do in Sker Ritual. Overall, it's tough to say if it earns its $25 price tag. If you want round based Zombies in the same vein as COD without the baggage of the full Call of Duty franchise, then it's hard to find a better alternative than Sker Ritual. But unless you're truly hungry, I'd recommend you pick this up on one of the frequented 50%+ sales.

Don't recommend this one playing solo, even though its possible.

This is a great Kino der Toten clone. It looks terrible - you'll need to mess with settings, and it'll be grey, slimy, foggy and pixelly. The gunplay lacks the buttery smoothness of COD, naturally. For its stiffness though, it's got some fun horde-kiting madness with challenging but strategic puzzles you can play through. I really like the buildup to bosses, and the unguided puzzles after the boss are great for those jonesing for easter-egg hunting in classic COD Zombies - if you can handle the stiff feeling of the gunplay.

Playing solo might lock you into Easy mode, because the long range enemies are brutal. Hordes are challenging to deal with, but unless you get blocked or are dealing with a boss or challenge, melee enemies are mostly fodder and only dangerous in groups of five or more.

I bought it because I played the demo and it brought me back to the early COD Zombies days. It's nostalgic, but it is it's own game. The maps are fun, the weapons are good (although I'm a sucker for more variety in any game with guns, I found myself always using the same 2 or 3 in this), and the secrets are cool too. It doesn't feel to crazy either, and beating a map is very doable even solo.

At its best it's marginally more engaging than Call of Duty zombies, but it's usually not its best. The game says "Doing the objective on maps is optional" but then locks exploration of those maps behind doing the objective. Additionally, the objective sometimes requires you to hold onto a map specific weapon, functionally limiting you to a single gun slot(unless you purchase a specific perk).
