If you played the first Simulacra game you will be incredibly disappointed by this game. Like why did Teddy tell me about his UTI when I beat his high score?? Play literally any of the other games in this series.
Short but feels alright, had to watch a lot of ads in a game inside the game.. 10/10 would do it again.

despite this one honestly feeling a bit like a joke, i actually had as much fun as i did for the 1st game? its very goofy for what it is, but i feel it matches very similar energy to the 1st game, and i loved what that game did.
overall, i kind of prefer this one over the 2nd game? a funny game for sure, but i had fun with it

This game was pretty fun to play through, seeing all that it holds. It has fair amount of dialogue or interesting or humorous texts. There are plenty of easter eggs and secrets that are unrelated to any story or achievement which made the few that I did come across fairly rewarding. Though to be fair, I think this game would really hard to fully complete without the aid of an external guide, as this game can get fairly foggy on what you need to do or where you need to find information to get these shockingly convoluted achievements. I've poked around on my own before looking at a guide and I figured out some stuff, but the majority of it, I don't understand how you were so supposed to solve half of these lengthy goose chases.
But for the game and how it presents itself, it's fairly solid. A good story, never felt like it was really a waste of anytime. Would have loved for the fake ads in the game to be able to skip through them much quicker, especially after replaying the game multiple times to get the rest of the achievements. You would have replay parts quite a handful of times if you want to see everything this game has to offer. A game doesn't need to hold my hand for me to want to play it but the grindy achievements of having to use a boost 50 times or score 300 points in a fake flappy bird, felt unnecessary.
But overall, I enjoyed it. You don't lose very much playing this game, unless you would want to solve it unaided for the secrets, then you might lose your sanity. Recommended it if you're looking for something interesting and FREE!

An interesting implementation of an idea of the trends and theirs consequence in the Simulacra universe
its a pretty solid free game but simulacra is way better. more interactive, gave you more choices n had more outcomes and little achievements/gameplay differences, while this game has few outcomes (id rather watch someone play this while id rather play simulacra on my own bc the outcome doesnt rlly change) and mostly an identical story no matter how many times you replay. it only ever progresses when you beat the stupid STUPID flappee bird game which is insanely hard,,, </3 i much prefer simulacra progressing with texts, leads, etc. i prefer detective simulacra over frustrating mobile game simulacra. i also liked greg, taylor, and anna better than teddy -- i was excited to see each new anna vlog, read all her texts and posts, look at her tindr account (and create our own bait account) and js overall explore her phone, but everytime i found a new dropbox link for teddys vlogs or got a new text from him i just sighed in exasperation. i liked how the other friend characters and contacts were normal though n teddy really was just going thru it
also, despite being a good game, its like.. half horror, and half funny. simulacra had its funny n lighthearted moments (esp around taylor) but it was mostly horror or js unsettling, even in the most subtle ways (annas wallpaper changing to face you) while i couldnt take the footage of teddy dancing or the overall premise of this game seriously (the flappee bird game is about.. peeing? it was more gross than unsettling or scary, but i guess even being gross kinda unsettles you)
moreover, the simulacra actors seemed to be hired professionals while i think that the actors here were all just members of the company. it felt more homely, and it may seem more realistic to some, but i preferred the hired actors in simulacra due to the fact you could tell they were more skilled when it came to acting, and the fact that there was more diversity (as they were from like, all over the world) made it feel more realistic in its own way. to each their own, though. give this game a try and review it yourself, id say its worth playing, whether you like it in the end or not

This dark fable on addiction is tied to a god-awful game alongside simple text adventure elements.
Save your time for the Lost Phone duology, and Emily Is... trilogy.

A fun little experience that is shorter and takes itself less seriously than the original Simulacra. I wish it was scarier as pretty much all tension from the first game is gone, and the topic, while interesting (video game addiction), it feels like it doesn't have much to say about it. Either way though, if you enjoyed Simulacra you'll probably like this, plus its free.
I am however, extremely annoyed at how much time I wasted thinking you could actually beat the game without using any eggs.

Very good but short game! I recommend more dialogues and story lines in the future game if it will be created.
If you played the first Simulacra game, you'll be extremely disappointed by this one. There are no riddles to solve, no mystery to unravel, a failed lesson on video game addiction, and on top of all that, you only talk to one single person. Teddy. Juuust Teddy. So all you really have is this boring ass game (that is neither funny nor interesting to play) and Teddy (who is an incredibly unpleasant person). I couldn't even be bothered to try getting the other endings. Just glad I made it through the game once without falling asleep.
It may not be content-rich as the other two Simulacra games but it is still sure as hell good!

Been a very huge fan of the Simulacra series for just over a couple years now. I had already played the first Simulacra before this one so my standards were quite high.
It should be mentioned if you're looking for a long story like the first Simulacra, you'll be disappointed. I think this is more so a spin off if anything.
I love how it dives into addiction, especially with video games as it's a relevant issue in our modern day. The feeling of validation, euphoria and excitement when beating a high score which causes addiction in some people especially when they're at their most vulnerable. [spoiler]As an example, when we learn everything is going wrong in Teddy's life such as his job, relationships and mental health. He mentioned he always turned to video games as it helped him with a sense of belonging.[/spoiler]
I really do like the psychological horror aspect, it hasn't lost its touch from the first Simulacra, creepy jumpscares when you least expect it and those damn ads. It really does make you think and ask yourself questions such as:
"What am I really agreeing to when I hit "Accept" on Terms and Conditions pages? No one reads them." Hence the IRIS OS and "FlapeeBird" asking very peculiar questions and showing non stop ads.
It quite literally is the slogan, what if a game plays you? Certainly did, that damn bird game is irritating.
Overall, I really enjoyed my experience with SIMULACRA: Pipe Dreams and would definitely revisit this to 100% my achievements. If you're a thriller enthusiast, give it a go!

Nah, screw this game. You are making fun of whole mobile game industry & live service games which is nice, but by making u go thru the same experience. This game just doesn't respect the players time. Becoming the type of game you are critiquing is just sad. Hey, if the devs meant for this game to be sort of a litmus test, respect for that. But if you expect something like Simulacra 1, u will be immensely disappointed (like I am!!!).

Simulacra: Pipe Dreams hooked me right away with its eerie atmosphere and unsettling story, classic for the Simulacra universe. It dives into the horror of game addiction, and they really nailed the creepy, claustrophobic feel of being sucked into something sinister. I loved the immersion—switching between apps and trying to piece together what’s really going on kept me on edge.
But honestly, being forced to play FlappeBird was borderline evil! That little bird drove me nuts, and it’s the kind of frustrating, addictive mechanic that’s so true to life it almost hurts. Overall, it’s a perfect mix of psychological horror and social commentary, minus that infuriating bird.

This is the free, much shorter game in the SIMULACRA series but still quite a lot of fun. It parodies mobile games/apps and tells a cool story despite the overall shortness of it. If you aren't sure about buying the full SIMULACRA trilogy, then definitely give this one a try since it's free and see what you think from there.

This game is amazing. I was expecting low effort from a spin off game but Kaigan Games proved me very wrong. The story was 10/10 and so was the soundtrack. I totally recommend this game to any fan of simulacra.

This game is good .... but not for it being scary. Which is to be expected of the Simulacra franchise. There are jumpscares that got me, but I wouldn't consider this a scary game. The only reason I wouldn't recommend this is if you want a scary game, or if you think that joke-fake ads that you can skip are so unbearably annoying.
Simulacra games are games that are written to be scary and have a big meaning but are often times comedic instead, mostly due to the acting and the writing. What this is, is a free to play goof game. Up to you if that's your cup of tea, personally, I had a blast, it was really funny and honestly I like Teddy as a character. It's just a shame as you don't really hear much of him actually talking because the game is so short and like half his messages are [spoiler] possessed onto him. [/spoiler] so he doesn't really get too much time to shine as a character, which is unfortunate because he's the main person you speak to throughout the game, the rest of the characters are just sidepieces you have like a few conversations with, like 2-3, only if you do specific interactions.
Well, it's alright, the replayability is not there though, to get other endings you got to play flappy bird over and over and over again WITHOUT spending "hours" if you spend hours and you take the "ultimate" deal you die in the end, so if you want that good ending you either watch ADS like 50 of them, over and over again or just give up, these ads are ofc parody's and are funny at first but holy hell does it get annoying having to watch 20+ ads to beat 1 phase of the game, now ofcourse ads give you eggs and eggs give you power ups that you can buy, you get 30 eggs per ad so if you want to NOT die and get the better endings you have to watch ads non stop and that is annoying and beats the whole replayability scheme. It becomes "Ad Watching Simulator" instead of simulacra. What if i don't watch ads you say? well good luck because the levels are INTENTIONALLY unbeatable that way you NEED to watch ads, now you can pay like i said, take the deal that gives unlimited eggs but what's the point? you die in the end and that's not a good ending, so you NEED to watch ads non stop and holy hell you might watch a thousand ads before you beat the 3rd phase which is to have a streak of 70 or over, and yeah the game is WAYYY harder pulling these random tricks on you these unbeatable and impossible to survive tricks so yeah you need eggs. It's a free game which is great it's good none the less for playing through it the first time, but will make you go insane if you try and get the good ending.

TL;DR :: This game is only GOOD if you're a major fan of the series. It has many easter eggs and references to the overarching story, and it has a few cool puzzles hidden in it's secret puzzles. If you're not a huge fan of the series, skip it. It's not fun, imo. That said, it's free. Free is the reason for a positive review here. I would have paid 3-5 for this game and been... fine... with the purchase.
GAMEPLAY :: So, in the TL;DR, I said this game isn't fun. That's because the core game loop here is Flappy Bird. Yup, you WILL be playing Flappy Bird to get through this. Mechanically, that's basically all there is to the game. Much of the puzzle solving and subterfuge that drives the first game and exists to some degree in the others is gone. You only really have one contact through the game, and it feels like what you say only marginally matters. Mechanically, this game is dull. There are some cool secret puzzles, but they are fairly intense. I solved some of them on my own, but I looked up others, and I'm glad I did. Some of them use classic ARG elements like ciphers and morse code, and I just don't have time in my life for that.
This is more of a warning than anything else. If you do play this game and you want the good ending, [spoiler]save your eggs until the second portion of Flappy Bird. Answer the questions how the game wants you to. Spend only the time you need to on eggs. Mostly watch ads for them. DON'T TRY TO BEAT THE GAME WITHOUT EGGS LIKE I DID. It's a waste of time, and I'm pretty sure there are sections where it's impossible. It certainly looks impossible to me.[/spoiler]
STORY :: The story is interesting in some ways, boring in others, and in some sections it doesn't make much sense. It's a commentary on [spoiler]gaming as validation[/spoiler]. The first game commented on [spoiler]presenting a perfect version of you on the internet[/spoiler]. Both are good narratives, and I think it's genuinely creepy in parts. MAJOR SPOILER [spoiler]Near the end when your feed starts filling up with people who are clearly possessed by this game's Simulacra, it feels like the walls are closing in, and it was relatively powerful[/spoiler]. The secret document at the end of the secret puzzles is really cool. That's about it for positives.
As for negatives... the antagonist is not good. This spoils the ENTIRE story, so only read this if you don't want to play or you already played. This is intended as an unfiltered commentary on the game. Reviews are meant to help not just players, but developers as well. [spoiler]The Simulacra here has too human of a voice. The idea is that this one thrives on breaking people down and bringing them into her arms. She views humans as less than, which the one from the first game did as well, but she does it in a weird way. It's like she only wants them to be validated and find meaning in her game. That's not a bad concept... but it seems strange for a Simulacra as we know them. It's too human of a motivation. Plus, beating her by winning her game makes no sense. If anything, being very good at her game should embolden or strengthen her. The idea that playing the game she's LITERALLY brainwashing people into playing is what beats her is kind of weak. Also, I hate games that talk for me. That thing where you type something, or you select an answer and it swaps the text for something else. It's played out. It's not scary. The only way I've seen it work where it actually spooked me was in a game where you had to type something, actually type it and after the first few letters or so, every letter you typed changed the some of the previous letters. Because it felt more active. It's a nitpick, but... yeah... it bothered me.[/spoiler]
GRAPHICS AND SOUND :: The game feels smooth. It has the polish of the previous game and it feels like a natural progression. The jump scares are fine, and the acting is fine. Teddy does a decent job, though I feel like his scenes could have been thought out more. The sound was good, the Flapee Bird music was the right level of annoying, and the iterations of it throughout were effective enough. I will say this, and it's more of a concept aspect, but it's a visual thing too. The peeing aspect of Flapee Bird... it was really juvenile. It wasn't funny and playing with it on my screen was embarrassing even when nobody was in the room. I didn't appreciate it. I didn't like looking at it. I didn't like hearing it pee as I played. It felt borderline insulting. If this was a parody game, it would have been fine, but I like the series and I wanted to experience the story content. It degraded any sense of dread that might have been established, and it added nothing to the game. If the developer reads this: Consider the tone of your game and what your players are trying to get out of the experience.
Also, the ads were the perfect way to inject humor. They were great. 10/10 The acting was perfect. The jokes were great. It was a good way to interject humor into what is supposed to be an off putting experience because we know ads have weird acting and strange jokes. That was a good decision.
This is an idea on how to improve the story, and is intended almost solely for the developer, if they decide to read this. [spoiler]I really disliked the ending. Here are some alternatives that would make more sense to me. What about the idea of review bombing her game. Make Teddy a programmer in his backstory. In his secret logs, have him hide clues on how to create a bot that review bombs the game. The Simulacra seem to have little control over actual websites and programs that are out of their digital reach, so this idea could work with some tweaking. Then show the negative reviews tick up. Watch its rating plummet on the app store. Then you could have her visibly get weaker as engagement with her game drops. Don't like that? You could have Teddy write a virus that installs a patch that corrupts the game, but he's too far gone to implement it himself, so he hides pieces of it across the web and his emails. In the final struggle where you're building Teddy up emotionally, that last little bit of positive reinforcement gives him the agency he needs to give you the last bit of the code needed, or the last piece of the URL or something. You did something similar in Simulacra 3, and I thought that was a smart way to end the game. Beating these things you created is possible with the rules you've laid out. They're not invincible, you were smart enough to give them vulnerabilities. Give us the means to combat them, OR make a game where we're meant to lose. Either story is impactful. This ending felt sloppy and poorly thought out. Sorry, love your work, but this was a miss for me.[/spoiler]
So, in conclusion. This is a fine game. It's bad in places, it's good in places. It has pros and it has cons. If you like the story of the Simulacra series, there is enough of that in here to pull you through the game. Priced at free, it's fine.
this game is hot garbage and an insult to the original. While the original avoided the whole "phone bad, book good," message by showing nuance, this game's themes of video game addiction are so unbelivably muddy and black and white. Pipe Dreams has a lot more comedy than the first game and while some of it is pretty funny, it makes it VERY hard to take seriously as a horror game. It's super boring too, you don't get that mysterious and open feeling of investigating the first game offered. Instead of interacting with tons of other people and all of which contributing to the story in some way, it's just you and Teddy, who I absolutely hate as a character. It doesn't help that this story is so unbelivably stupid and disconnected from the first. I get that its a spinoff, but this feels like it was originally some unrelated found phone horror game that just became a Simulacra game last minute. I thought so little of this game when I first played it that I didn't even bother to get the other endings for it, something I've done in the first game multiple times to the point where I know the first game like the back of my hand. This is free, but don't waste your time, play the first game instead, this is the worst game in my entire steam library

Not as good as the first Simulacra, but a really solid game. There are a lot of annoying things about this game, but they're part of the story and meant to be that way, so if you can just enjoy it for what it is, I think it's fine. Kaigan Games are really skilled at storytelling design and know how to tell a good story through an immersive experience. The game's sense of humor is also great, and there are tons of easter eggs and hidden secrets you can find throughout. And also this game is free. There's quite a bit of game here, especially if you get all the endings and achievements, and it's well made, so this is one hell of a free game. Thank you, Kaigan, once again for your game dev prowess.

A lot shorter than the first Simulacra game, and plays very well with the common tropes of annoying, saturated, nonsensical ads playing with free-to-play content. The jumpscares aren't as startling, but some of the imagery is quite disturbing in its own right. The twists are also frequent and surprising.
