A VR game that only supports one decade old VR headset unless you buy it elsewhere (and then only supports the Facebook headsets apparently). VR games that don't support SteamVR shouldn't be sold on Steam. Thankfully these sorry devs never released anything else on Steam. Shame this is still sold here.
I fell off after a while, but it's a good remake of the original Shufflepuck Cafe. A little tedious, but eh.
Any Commodore Amiga or Atari ST gamer would remember Shufflepuck Cafe. Too much fun! This is the next gen version and it is a blast from the past. If you're under 30, check it out to play a great game and enjoy some great video game nostalgia.

Ich kenne Shufflepuck Café noch aus Amigazeiten und es hatte damals schon Spaß gemacht, wenn auch sehr übersichtlich gestaltet. Die hier gezeigte Adaption ist ein, in meinen Augen, sehr gelungenes Remake des Klassikers und macht auch echt Fun. Die Story ist kurz erklärt: Man ist mit seinem Raumschiff auf einem Planeten abgestürzt und versucht es zu reparieren. Zufällig ist dort eine riesige Bar, mit verschiedenen Wesen, verteilt auf mehreren Ebenen. Als Shufflepuck-Spieler geht es nun darum gegen alle Gegner anzutreten, Quests zu erfüllen und am Ende durch je einem Entscheidungsspiel eines von 13 nötigen Reparaturteilen zu erhalten. Allerdings benötigt man zuerst alle Biografien eines jeden Gegners und diese kann man mit sogenannten Credz, welche man in den Modi Duell, Wette oder Überleben, erspielen kann. Zusätzlich kann man neue Schläger oder Pucks mit den erspielten Credz kaufen, die wiederum verschiedene Eigenschaften oder Vorteile bieten. Hat man einen Gegner komplett 'besiegt' (alle Biografien + Teil), kann man sich im Laden mit Schläger und Puck des jeweiligen ausrüsten und diese durch minimale Upgrades verbessern. Diese sind ein Münzmagnet oder der Fähigkeit, immer dann Credz zu bekommen, wenn der Puck den Schläger bzw die Bande berührt. Auch besitzen alle Gegner unterschiedliche Spezial-shots, die man je nach Ausrüstung, ebenso nutzen kann. Auf jeder Ebene befinden sich Gegner von leicht, mittel bis schwer und das abhängig von der Ebene. Je niedriger, desto leichter, während man ganz oben doch schon mal viel Geduld beweisen muss. Auf den Boards tauschen immer mal Münzen auf oder ein Sondersymbol, welches verschiedene Ereignisse auslöst, wenn der eigene Puck es berührt: u.a. die Größe des Schlägers, des Pucks oder man hat das Pech und der Gegner bombardiert einen für eine bestimmte Zeit lang nur mit Spezialschüssen. Hinzu kommt, je höher man spielt, desto mehr Credz kann man erspielen, aber umso teurer sind auch die benötigten Biografien. Man muss also ernorm viel grinden, um voran zu kommen, etwas Abwechslung bietet ein kleiner Spielautomat, mit dem man mit ebenso im Spiel erlangten Token, etwas gewinnen kann: angefangen von EP, Credz bis zu Teilen von Biografien, gilt es sie aus einer Reihe von verdeckten Karten aufzudecken und jederzeit zu beenden. Erscheint der Totenkopf, verliert man alles. Nach 9 Stunden Spielzeit muss ich sagen, es macht mir viel Spaß und vor allem, man kann es ganz gemütlich zwischendurch mal spielen. Die Duelle an sich brauchen, je nach Gegner und Ebene, von wenigen Minuten bis zu etwas längeren Sitzungen, machen aber insgesamt richtig Laune und die Umsetzung ist gut gelungen. Die Grafik ist vll nicht jedermanns Sache, aber es passt auch irgendwo zu diesem Retrolook, aber eben auch weil ich die Amigaversion noch gut kenne. Wünschenswert wären sich noch einige Modi, wie das einstellen des Punktescores oder spezielle Spieltische mit Objekten darauf, die es zusätzlich erschweren. Es ist für Spieler geeignet, die noch das Ur-Spiel kennen, aber auch für Leute, die einfach kleine und schnelle Partien spielen möchten. Das tolle ist nämlich: man braucht nur die Maus und selbst während des Zockens kann man getrost die Tasse Kaffe in der linken Hand halten ;)
I wish I could recommend this game. I really have loved it since first playing it on my iPod Touch over 10 years ago. It was really awesome finding it on here! It mostly lived up to the nostalgia, even though it was much harder (and physically painful at times!) to play on PC with a mouse rather than on a touch screen. The character lore was interesting to unlock, the knock-off Tatooine aesthetics were charming, and even though it was a little grindy at times it was fun enough for me to not mind.
The problem is that my save data was backed up to a cloud that had one inexplicable error on startup and wiped my entire game. It has been quite some time since then and I still can't bring myself to dive back in because what if it happens again? There doesn't seem to be a way to have local save data. Because I can't be sure if my save is actually permanent, the grind and physical strain just isn't worth it to me to try again. It's disappointing to have gotten so little out of the PC version considering the price. Maybe if you're playing on VR you'll at least avoid the physical drawbacks enough to run those risks?
Oh well. I'm still grateful to Agharta Studio for the years of fun. I just wish I could show that gratitude with a positive review.
The only sad part about this game is that it never got the multiplayer it deserved. But as a singleplayer game is still really good though.

这款游戏是很不错的air hockey电游，游戏内容丰富耐玩，除了气垫球本体外还有钱币/商店系统，有小游戏抽奖机，有不同的游戏模式，可以使用不同角色的人物技能和装备技能，还有丰富的成就系统，在游戏发布的年代来看可以说相当不错了，可以说放到现在也依然耐玩。不过不知道是年头太久还是什么其他原因，各种steam成就的获取率相当低，可能是因为很多人当年买了之后就直接放库里吃灰了吧XD
游戏的主线任务是通过不断赢得气垫球获取的钱币来购买角色传记，集齐所有19篇传记并完成任务后就可以获得一片飞船碎片以及拥有该角色技能的挡板/冰球套组，并且还可以化身为该角色并获得该角色的技能。另外，赢得比赛还能获得经验，升级玩家等级并获得各种加成，可以说随着游戏的进行，体验会越来越好，但对手也越来越强。

Yep, it is a shufflepuck game. You get to shufflepuck a whole lot. If you are interested in shufflepuck - I strongly recommend it.
This game tried to be a follow-up to Shufflepuck Cafe from Amiga, but fails. Characters don't have unic detailed ways to play against the player, except their special move, which is lame by feeling all the same at the end ; getting coins will force the player to battle over and over again against the same opponent, which will feel even more boring ; and there is no multiplayer mode even locally, something really pointed out back then. Graphics are good, but that's about it.

If you like air hockey, this game is a lot of fun. Started playing in 2013 or 2014 on iOS and picked up the game on Steam in January 2018 - still playing it 5 years later. Highly recommend.

Belle petite découverte que ce Shufflepuck Cantina. Rien d'incroyable mais tous les ingrédients sont là pour s'amuser.
Il aurait cependant demandé un peu plus de travail sur le rendu, le coté très "low poly" me dérange un peu. De façon plus globale il manque de finition n'importe comment.
A prendre à petit prix.
It was nice that it could be enjoyed simply and lightly, but it was fun only at the beginning and the content was too repetitive. And there is an achievement that can be unlocked by clicking Like on Facebook!
Ich habe schon das Vorbild "Shufflepuck Cafe" aus den 90ern auf dem Commodore Amiga geliebt, und so liebte ich auch die inoffizielle Umsetzung Shufflepuck Cantina. Ich hab das Spiel stundenlang auf dem iPhone und iPad gespielt, und kürzlich habe ich mir, da die Handyversion (egal ob iOS oder Android) gelöscht worden ist, für den PC gekauft. Das Spiel macht immer noch Laune, da gibt es nix zu sagen, aber anscheinend hat Agharta Studios das Spiel "aufgegeben". Seit Jahren keine Updates mehr, und auch die Bugs, die schon bei der Handy-Version drin waren, sind 2023 noch immer vorhanden. Der "Absorbierer Puck" bleibt immer noch an der Bande hängen, und immer noch startet immer wieder mal eine Runde "mittendrin", das heißt man hat keine Chance, einen gegnerischen Treffer zu vermeiden. Das ist echt Schade, denn in dem Spiel steckt echt viel drin.

Fun casual game
Great entertaining game just like the old classic, same feeling, same fun. I was a huge fan of Shufflepuck Café on Amiga and I'm happy with this new version.
There're a lot of missions and mini quests to complete, so you'll have plenty of time to entertain yourself with this game, even if that means some grinding too.
The special strikes are fun and useful since you can make some strategy with it.
But this is a quite easy game that gives a feeling of lack of content and variety. The animations after each win/loose are too slow and repetitive, this is annoying and a waste of game time, there should be a way to remove these animations in the options. I lack a faster way to end the embodiement. And after a higher level, money is useless especially when we have already purchased everything from the store.
The main thing is that it's a game to keep yourself entertained and have a good time, and it succeeds in that goal. I'm therefore satisfied despite some sadness to realize that this game could be even better with a few tweaks.

Bei der heutigen Technik funktioniert es auch alles deutlich besser wo mein keine Flusen mehr aus den
Kontakten der Mauskugel friemeln muss.
Die Gegner haben für mich nicht den gleichen Charme wie damals aber die Umsetzung ist gut gelungen.
Ich hätte mir im VR Modus allerdings gewünscht ohne Maus sondern mit den VR Controllern zu steuern.
Aber im großen und ganzen... Daumen hoch

Demasiado simple tanto en historia como mecánicas
Básicamente estamos ante un juego que originalmente se conseguía en plataformas Apple y por no querer actualizarse se puso acá para no dejar de generar ingresos. Es entretenido a ratos pero se vuelve cansado jugando más de 30 minutos, definitivamente está hecho para sesiones cortas en smartphones mientras esperas tu turno en el banco o el dentista. Ciertamente se vuelve un festival de grindeo para conseguir los desbloqueables y llegar al último nivel, si tu curiosidad por el jefe final es muy fuerte vas a estar horas jugando contra la IA explotandolas más como una tarea que como entretenimiento legítimo.
Recomendado como un juego casual para de vez en cuando, solía tener una función VR y aunque el ratón es satisfactorio, la realidad es que nada como tener mayor variedad si cuentas con el equipo VR.
Como curiosidad, Dross jugó Shufflepuck Cafe y perdió pensando que por fin iba a ganar en un juego.
Un remake de la version NES mais franchement en beaucoup moins bien appart les graphismes (encore heureux ) et pas mal de farm. A acheter uniquement si vous voulez a tout prix jouer a ce remake, mais attendez qu'il soit en solde.

Steam has left the tag VR on the game, and trailer videos showing it as VR, but VR is not supported. Requests for support are denied, forum posts asking for help ignored. The best hint you can get is seeing that it used to be called "Shufflepuck Cantina Deluxe VR". Some of the links still call it that, but don't make the same mistake I did. VR doesn't work. Pitty, it seems like it was a well-respected VR game. I would've liked to play it.
Still a decent non-vr game, just buy it for the right reasons.

At first it looks like a nice air hockey arcade game with interesting characters and lore, but it eventually shows how grindy and artificial it is, with an insane ammount of repetitive and empty missions. Just buy it on a sale if you want to play a little air hockey from time to time, but don't waste dozens if not hundreds of hours in completing this.
Not nearly as fun nor quirky as the original. Everything has to be unlocked, you have to buy biographies you don't want to read to progress further. Opponents have no charisma, and there's no feeling of impact with the puck compared to a 30+ year old game. I should have checked better, it definitely feels like a mobile port of a F2P grindfest.

J'ai commencé ce jeu sur mobile en 2013, mais il n'y avait pas la fin, puis le jeu a été retiré du store.
Du coup, quelle ne fut pas ma joie de le retrouver sur Steam.
J'attendais d'avoir un peu de temps pour rassembler les différentes pièces de mon vaisseau et enfin me casser de l'Athanor.
Le jeu est super (évidemment, sinon je ne l'aurais pas repris).
Ambiance, gameplay, références à Star Wars, Téléchat et cie, c'est excellent.
+ le dernier boss (enfin !!!) est très réussit.
Mais sérieux.
Pour aller à ce dernier étage,
il faut farmer pendant des siècles,

It's a fun game unless you actually want to progress in and eventually complete the story - in which case you're going to need a metric ton of the in-game "credz" tokens to buy 19 "biography entries" for every single one of the 13 opponent characters. That's 247 biography entries. Which is a LOT of credz. Which can only be reliably received by replaying the same opponents over and over and over and over ... you get the picture. The higher ranked the opponent, the more credz their entries cost. To unlock all 19 entries for one of the 3 low ranked opponents is over 6k credz. For one of the 3 high ranked opponents is about 36k credz. A "6-0" Gold Medal victory in a Duel against one of the high ranked opponents would net you about 1.3k credz, a bit more if you're lucky with credz drops during the match, and a bit more on top if you have spent thousands of credz on upgrading your mallet and puck to give you 1(!) credz with every strike/wall bounce respectively (level up enough and this is doubled to 2 creds per strike/wall bounce, but I have a feeling most people will drop the game way before that point.) The rest of the math is left as an exercise for the reader.
good idea, but too repetitive and difficult, would have been a lot better if it was a point and click adventure game

It's like the old MS DOS game Shufflepuck Café. Even the music is almost the same. Very entertaining, but a bit grindy though. If you liked the old one, you will love this too, because it's basically the same game with nice graphics, more opponents, special moves and a store, where you can buy pucks and mallets for your in-game points.

O yaşta kardeşimle bana Disneyland kadar devasa gelen bu küçük oyun parkında görmüştüm ilk defa "hava hokeyi" denilen güzide masa oyununu. En sevdiklerimdendi. Yıllar sonra aynı oyunu (gayet mantıklı bir şekilde) evdeki masa ve bir adet bilgisayar faresi kullanarak oynama imkanı veren bu oyunun yapımcılarına buradan sevgilerimi gönderiyorum. Thanks dudes!

no controller support
I got this game a few years ago. My laptop was too weak to run it while it's not a heavy game. I played it a few hours ago and i liked it. My only problem with it is that i get frame drops often. It's very good but this problem makes it bad a little. If i could find a solution to that problem i would say this game is 10/10 if you like the idea. It has a story too.

Ich hab ein wenig gebraucht, bis ich mich endlich dazu durch gerungen habe, dieses Game zu kaufen, da es sich mir nicht so ganz erschloss, ob es ausschließlich für VR gemacht ist, oder nicht. Also für diejenigen, für die es ebenso unsicher ist: Das Spiel funktioniert auch ohne VR!
Zum Spiel selbst: Sehr schön gemacht. Habe gerade ein wenig gespielt und habe richtig Spaß dabei. Erinnert durchaus an die guten alten Zeiten des Shufflepuck Cafe auf Amiga und/oder Atari und ich könnte mir vorstellen, dass ich dieses Game öfter einfach mal so zur Ablenkung zocken werde. Ich hoffe, das ich es dann auch mal unter Win10 zocken können werde.

Každý soupeř disponuje jednou částí lodě, se kterou se plánujete vrátit domů, ale tu získáte, až když si koupíte celé vyprávění k danému soupeři za spoustu kreditů.
Jsou zde tři režimy her se soupeři. Společné mají to, že podává ten, kdo dostal gól a kdo dal gól, dostává bod. Za gól z podání jsou dva body.

Hráč hraním se soupeři, plněním misí a hraním automatu získává různé odměny. Zejména skore, kredity (Credz) a žetony (Token). Zvyšováním skore hráč leveluje a získává postupně vyšší odměny. Za kredity nakupuje speciální puky a pálky a jejich vylepšení. Také se za ně kupují výše zmíněná vyprávění o soupeřích (nutné k dokončení hry). Získáním celého vyprávění o soupeři hráč získává také možnost převtělit se do soupeře či používat jeho vybavení. Žetony se v automatu mohou proměnit na další odměny (žetony, kredity, skore, puky, pálky a koncepty).
Získané vybavení dává hráči různé výhody, např. i štít. Vybavení soupeřů poskytuje navíc speciální magický pohyb puku aktivovaný přidržením tlačítka myši. Rychlost pohybu závisí na načasování puštění tlačítka. Pokud hráč toto vybavení vyleveluje na maximum, tak pak pohyb puku může použít volně s jiným vybavením. Tlačítkem myši lze také urychlit přípravu puku na nové podání.

- Na jednom ze stolů (podlaží Patio) se mi párkrát stalo, že se puk u mantinelu zarazil a pomaličku se pohyboval podél něj. Pokud v tu dobu není možné použít magický pohyb puku tlačítkem myši, tak to trvá celou věčnost, než dojede k soupeři, který přihlíží až mu puk komicky rozbije "mocným" úderem sklo.
- Párkrát se při vybírání režimu hry u vybraného soupeře stalo, že se jeho zobrazená postava výrazně zvětšila částečně mimo obrazovku. Ovládací prvky byly vždy použitelné, takže to ničemu nevadilo.

I consider this game a worthy successor to Shufflepuck Cafe.
The table is a bit short, but gameplay feels smooth enough. Winning games rewards you with in-game currency that you can use to unlock special pucks and mallets with power-ups.
And also the opponents have trick shots, where the puck violates the laws of physics.
On the downside, some of the characters make gross sound effects, and you can't disable voices without also disabling all sound effects. :(
It won't change your life, but it is fun when you have five minutes.
This is why Steam needs a Mixed button. Buggy un updated game since 2013 and really just a sad mess. Unfortunately, I will be keeping it as I used to play it on my phone before they removed it from the play store. I miss it and the game is pretty good with a Star Wars feel, interesting characters and fun gameplay, under the old age and messy bugs, like you can't alt tab cause the game crashes... Shame they never bothered updating it, fixing it to fit the times and just giving it a tiny bit of love…
Never played it in VR, but as far as I can say a game that brings some nostalgia of the good old times when "Shufflepuck Cafe" was played. Also characters are actually very fine and funny like Furry.

TLDR: Limited play area. Somewhat sluggish and slow in pace. Dubious AI. Split-focus between simulating the bar and focusing on gameplay. Too low tech for good immersion.
Unfortunately between the CRT scan lines, limited animation work and grind oriented progression that gradually unlocks more floors and opponents there is little to recommend this one. The core gameplay has you shift a paddle left and right on a comparatively small table and the dubious physics is only partially masked away by using high tech little anti gravity pucks.
It seems like the devs wanted to bring a classic to VR and just make a strong impression, they might have been ahead of the curve with a decent idea but the execution just landed them superficially accomplishing all their goals and leaving the title rather pointless and lacking in entertainment value.
Conclusion: All kinds of games craft all kinds of interesting areas to explore so leaving that aspect aside, you can find your Pong/Arcade Tennis type gameplay better fulfilled by playing one of the many decent brickbreaker games available on Steam. Removing Shufflepuck permanently for declutter.

Ein Spiel welches bei mir Erinnerungen an die guten alten Amiga Zeiten und das Shufflepuc Cafe weckt. Und ich habe schon lange nicht mehr so schnell die Zeit vergessen wie bei diesem Spiel. Meiner Meinung nach ein gelungenes Spiel mit hohem Spassfaktor. Einziger Wehrmutstropfen für mich ist die fehlende Unterstützung für mein HTC Vive. Ich würde mir sehr wünschen das dies noch implementiert wird.
Nouvelle version d'un vieux jeu atari. De nouveaux adversaires, un effort pour créer un but, un fil conducteur pour continuer à jouer, une ambiance géniale (nombreux clins d'oeil à l'univers de Star Wars). Un vrai coup de coeur.

Shufflepuck Cantina Deluxe could have been an okay if simplistic air hockey game, but it is brought down by an incomprehensible grind, a lack of variety, and weak AI that appear to have unrestricted access to special moves.
While you can face a number of AI opponents, each with their own name and story, they all feel pretty similar to play against outside of their special move. As for that special move, while you have to build a bar through play to activate a special, the AI opponents can trigger them as often as they wish.
As for the grind, words fail to describe it. Matches are giving you around a hundred credits to win, while the cheapest equipment costs 5000 credits. (The game's economy is completely skewed, as it acts like it is a big deal to give you even a handful of credits.) Your basic income of tokens is two per 30 minutes, and they are used to play a completely random card flip game, where every single flip costs a token. (You'll mostly earn tokens through challenges, but there are only so many challenges to complete.) You can easily rack up your total score, but that is the one currency that is completely meaningless. (Score determines your place on the leaderboard, but since it is cumulative over everything you earn, it is only truly a measure of time spent rather than any indication of skill.) Every character has a list of boring "missions" that they want you to complete, but these missions are mostly just playing more regular matches.
For a buck or two, this might be a decent time waster, as long as you didn't care about unlocking anything at all. Except this is a $10 game.
Excellent jeu , à la mécanique simpliste mais vraiment bien foutue . c'est un revival de shullpuk café inspiré des premiers starwars sur tatooine.
J'y ai passé plus de 10h afin de le terminer et j'ai du cheater l'argent pour que le jeu garde du fun , sinon on passer des jours à refaire inlassablement les mêmes parties .
en tout cas pour évoluer correctement sans trop perdre de temps je vous conseille d'investir dans la tres grande brosse et le palet repoussoir
les missions n'ont au final pas un grand interet car seule les biographie ( que l'on doit acheter avec l'argent du jeu gagné à la sueur des parties) débloquent réellement l'avencement du scenario .
donc n'ayez aucun scrupule à utiliser cheat engine pour vous mettre à toc de pognon et finalement rendre le jeu faisable car vous devrai tout de même venir à bout de vos adversaire et votre souris n'a pas fini de fumer ^^ . en tout cas merci vraiment pour ces quelques heures de fun pour 9euros , c'est vraiment un bon investissement!

While this game can be entretaining, it will only be if you really really like pong (air hokey in this case), cause if not it will get repetitively tedious really fast

J'avais adoré l'original sur Amiga de Brøderbund Software paru en 1988, et je peux dire que de retrouver ce jeu presque 30 ans plus tard est quelque-chose d'inattendu. En l'occurence il s'agit d'un des meilleurs remake que j'ai eu l'occasion de voir, on y retrouve tout le gameplay et l'esprit de l'original (avec même la petite musique qui va bien), le tout avec de vraies améliorations et un total plaisir à jouer. Ce que j'adore dans cette nouvelle version est le nombre impressionnant de quêtes et de bonus à déverrouiller qui procure une totale sensation de plaisir à progresser à chaque partie, l'univers complètement immersif avec les bios des personnages délirantes excellement écrites, et surtout le jeu lui-même qui repose sur une réelle maîtrise du skill, et à la fois une étude stratégique de chaque adversaire pour choisir les galets ou super-coups les mieux adaptés et connaître leurs coups d'envoi et réactions. Graphiquement le jeu est un petit peu daté aujourd'hui, mais la direction artistique étant très réussie, ce n'est pas du tout génant. Un must-have pour tous les amoureux d'arcade (et de SF). 10/10
