Impossibly hard. On the game's recommended 'Adventure' difficulty the story takes you to a series of trials culminating in a boss fight that was literally impossible. With the absolute best equipment available up to that point and with literally dozens of healing items on hand, there was still no way to win. The boss constantly unleashes an AoE attack that hits your entire party and even when properly blocked to reduce the damage, two of those attacks is usually enough to knock one or more of your characters unconscious and after that, there's just nothing else you can do. You heal one character, then the next AoE attack takes out the other two and reduces the survivor's health to nearly nothing. That last surviving character either heals themselves or an ally, it doesn't matter which, because the next sweeping AoE takes out whoever's left and it's Game Over. I reloaded this fight over and over again, trying different techniques and nothing worked. I guess I'm just bad or else I needed to grind more levels before reaching that point, but forced grinding in order to progress is really not fun. I completed all the story elements up to that point and defeated all the scripted monsters you face but I was still nowhere near powerful enough to win that fight. If you switch to the game's easy Story mode and give yourself the handicap of extra health you can do it, but that's honestly just embarrassing. I suppose I'd just have to let the game hold my hand and coddle me, but I really didn't want to play the game that way. Unfortunately there just doesn't seem to be any other way to do it, but playing in the game's 'baby' mode with a health handicap really kills the idea of you being some kind of a hero.

That's another of my complaints - your characters just don't feel heroic or special in any way. They're not particularly strong or powerful and everything else in the world seems powered down as well so it makes your characters feel less like adventurers and more like some random plebs off the street with delusions of grandeur. I mean, a single wind elemental annihilates your entire party, they're obviously not very good, yeah?

I guess I can understand the appeal of trying to take some average schmucks and do something special with them but it winds up being presented in a way that just doesn't appeal to me at all. Your mileage will vary, obviously.

O jogo não é difícil, é ruim mesmo! Sistema de jogo exige adivinhar o que vai acontecer, história super travada, Personagens sem graça e a curva de complexidade (não dificuldade) cresce antes que se tenha recursos para lidar com ela. Horroroso! Não gaste seu dinheiro com isso. (Para não ficar parecendo que odiei o jogo sem motivo: As magias e ataques especiais no jogo são extremamente desbalanceados, mas o jogo te dá uma ferramenta para contornar isso. Quando o inimigo inicia a conjuração de uma magia surge um timer, e algumas plaquinhas. Ocultas atrás das placas estão os tipos de dano que cancelam a conjuração. Por que oculta no início do jogo? Não sei! Basta adivinhar corretamente qual tipo de dano que o inimigo não consegue te dar um ataque em área capaz de tirar 25% da sua vida. Agora se você decidir dar um ataque normal para abrir a plaquinha, perder a vez do personagem que consegue dar o único ataque que pára a conjuração, ou estiver sem mana na hora se ferrou. Fora que tudo no jogo exige timing, tem de ficar apertando botão toda hora para poder potencializar defesa e ataque, o dev não pensou um segundo como é irritante iniciar num jogo e ficar tomando dano de graça por que não aprendeu o ritmo de cada maldito inimigo insignificante dos primeiros níveis! E nem entrei na droga da formiga que chama mais duas aliadas igualmente fortes pra caramba tornando um combate bobo em potencialmente mais difícil que o primeiro chefe.) Lixo total!

This legitimately felt like an SNES-era RPG, albeit with some modern graphical lighting effects. The heavy influences from Chrono Trigger and other games of the 90s and early 2000s (Super Mario RPG, Golden Sun, etc) are obvious, but the game never felt derivative to me. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Sea of Stars é um dos melhores jogos que eu já joguei, simplesmente incrível, por isso eu platinei.

Não há como negar que esse jogo é LINDO, absurdamente bonito e fluido. Com personagens carismáticos e com suas individualidades.

A trilha sonora é INSANA, maravilhosa, viciante, não tem como jogar sem a música.

Em relação a gameplay do jogo, não há críticas, bem sólida e divertida, apesar de eu achar o leque de habilidade limitado ele ainda assim funciona.

A lore do jogo é excelente, PORÉM, o final eu achei decepcionante, já que para o verdadeiro final é necessário 100% do game, e mesmo com o final verdadeiro, ele não é tão satisfatório.

Conclusão, vale muito a pena, ótimo combate em turnos, recomendo para todos até mesmo como uma inserção no gênero.

Good so far. It doesn't tell you how to start coop (from what we could tell), but you bring up the pause menu with Start button and there's assign players.

Takes a lot of inspiration from Super Mario RPG, the way the world map looks reminds me of Chrono Trigger.

My understanding of the fishing minigame (since it doesn't give you an obvious tutorial): Press A to cast. You can press A while it's in the air to drop it immediately, and left and right to move where it will land. Hold A to reel. Repeatedly tapping A seems to randomly stun the fish (?). When reeling there will be a highlighted vertical line that moves and change and size. You want to keep the fish in that area or else it will free itself.

Most fun I had in a long time. I played Chrono Trigger and ended up with Sea of Stars by recommendation. And oh boy, what a great recommendation it was. Wonderful graphics, music and story. Fight mechanics definitely better than CT, it was entertaining till the end.

I was hesitant whether to give this game a positive or negative review until the very end, since honestly I have mixed feeling about it, but finally I found it hard to give it a thumbs down.

Sea of Stars is simply mediocre in many ways:
-Characters and the story are a bit childish, but funny and just sometimes a little interesting, though without developing much
-Exploration and bits of metroidvania are there but very bland and uninteresting
-Character/power progression is basically non-existent, just a linear one without any choice
-The OST is quite nice but nothing outstanding or memorable for me
-Food/healing mechanic feels just like a nuisance in the game
-etc.

The difficulty and the combat part of the game was probably the hardest one for me to decide anything about.
I played on a "hard" difficulty without any relics which make the game easier with each one turned on.
At the start the game was pretty hard with very limited options for what you can choose to do, but bearable.
A little further into the game it got much worse, where most of enemies were just one-shotting you, especially with bad RNG (secret-locks on enemies abilities) at the start of the battle. In some fights it was just broken and clearly unbalanced (given locks which must be cleared with a particular element, when I still don't have it in my kit).
From the middle to the late game, when you get more options of stalling/healing midfight and switching characters, it turned more into a sustain-stall kind of fights, just sometimes more interesting when you had to think about which combos to use to clear fights (though the game is quite unfair in this case too).

Despite all of above mentioned things, the best and outstanding part of the game as you could have guessed yourself, is its artstyle and animations. From the overworld part of it and animations in fights of both enemies and your characters skills/combos are simply wonderful and pleasant to look at.

In the end, I would recommend this game mostly for a nice and chill experience, especially on the discount of course.
Just be careful with your expectations and don't expect any particular aspect (metroidvania, turn-based combat, exploration and stuff...) to be any kind of deep or anything.

This is a charming retro RPG that plays like a combination of Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG. The main storyline is well-paced and about 30 hours long, and the free DLC adds about eight more hours of gameplay. I played a bit on Steam Deck and it was rock solid there as expected. This is an amazingly beautiful game - the pixel art draws me in with each new environment. There's so much variety and creativity in the many worlds contained within Sea of Stars. Everything about this is a nostalgic love letter to old school games but with the crisp detail and snappy controls you would expect from a modern piece. Love the plotlines - they are simple but impactful, and the characters are each unique. This was well worth the time and money, and the FREE DLC has been a joy to play through :)

Sea of Stars is not a perfect game, but it's a fun love letter to Chrono Trigger and other RPG's of the era. The pixel art is truly beautiful and it really helped put me into the same head space of growing up and playing JRPG's with my dad.

The general dungeon exploration feels like Chrono Trigger, but with a bit more environmental interaction and more frequent puzzles. Enemies are still visible wandering around each area, and you transition immediately to combat upon touching one.

Battles are in teams of three, and you have a variety of individual skills as well as different combos you can use between various combinations of your characters, but battles do have some new twists as well.

Timed hits and blocks are very important to success here, and there are a number of other mechanics to familiarize yourself with to optimize your play, but it all works pretty well and the game teaches you as you go.

Now there were times when I was struggling with certain bosses' attacks that I would have preferred a more traditional approach, but the interactive combat does alleviate the tedium of "random" encounters that plagues many other games in the genre.

There's also a relic system that allows you to make the game harder or easier at your choosing by equipping them, with no penalties for doing so.

Sea of Stars in general is one of the most player friendly role playing games I've played, with absolutely nothing being missable. They just want you to have fun and play the way you want to. There's also a New Game + mode if you want to do it all again, and a free DLC with several additional hours of gameplay.

The story has its ups and downs but overall I enjoyed it- there are some exciting surprises and big ideas, but with maybe a slightly incomplete feeling when all was said and done. You won't be left guessing but might be wanting more. Hopefully we get some more games in this universe to further flesh things out.

The main complaint I've seen is that the main characters don't have a lot of character development, but it's still a really strong cast and I was very attached to them. Lots of great side characters along the way, too.

Really hard to imagine a fan of class JRPG's not finding something to enjoy here. Definitely pick it up if you want to experience that 90's magic again or if you're just looking for something new to scratch the RPG itch.

Постепенно раскрывалась вся история, сочетающаяся с хорошо проработанным сюжетом и персонажами. Особо не акцентировался на побочных заданиях, но было любопытно изучить мини-игры типа игры в колесо и различные головоломки. Также впечатлили широкие возможности взаимодействия с командой персонажей.

Если коротко, то это добрая и искренняя игра, где добро побеждает зло, а центральная тема — дружба и взаимопомощь. Если ты задумывался о знакомстве с жанром JRPG, рекомендую обратить внимание на эту игру. Она не затянута, интересна, а после окончания основной кампании открывается дополнительный контент.

Разработчики явно вложили душу в дизайн и проработку противников. Каждый враг имеет уйму атак, у всех свои уникальные спрайты и анимации это очень круто ⚔️ Скучать в боях не приходится: ситуация на поле меняется достаточно часто, чтобы не чувствовать себя на автопилоте.

История сама по себе стандартная для такого жанра игры. Но подано всё с настроением: мир ощущается живым, музыка и визуал делают своё дело 🎵✨ И даже когда сюжет идёт по предсказуемой дорожке, просто приятно находиться внутри этого мира.

Дополнение досталось даром, так что сильно ругать язык не поворачивается. Но с головоломками там явно переборщили в какой-то момент это начинает тормозить темп и превращается в обязанность, а не удовольствие 😅

Одна из первых игр в жанре JRPG в которую я играл и прошёл. Если как-то и можно описать Sea of Stars кратко, то это классическое такое аниме или около того. Боевик, Комедия, Драма, нужное подчеркнуть.

Сюжет не сказать что что-то новое, но он неплох, хотя порой думаешь что будет поставлена точка, но нет, идём дальше бить лицо какому-то плохишу и от этого возникает ощущение затянутости. Персонажи приятные, но было бы неплохо чтобы между глав-героями была некоторая напряженность или какая-то любовная линия, хотя уже остальная команда по мне прописана уже лучше, у каждого есть свой конфликт, арка и тп.

Геймплей прост, но сделан хорош, со вкусом, и не вызывает проблем. Разве что головоломки могут заставить потупить порой, но и они решаемы. Боёвка клёвая - просто и со вкусом. Тратишь ману на навыки/заклинания, восстанавливаешь её обычными ударами, имеются комбо-приёмы и ульты у каждого из героев. Всё просто, но интересно. Отдельная тема боссы. Кто-то губка для битья, кто-то сложнее, кто-то может ваншотнуть, у кого-то своя уникальная механика и тп. Все интересны, хоть порой заставляют нервничать и/или думать.

Подводя вышесказанное, то Море Звёзд хороший вход в жанр, если до этого вы его не трогали или трогали, но вяло. Не без недостатков, но всё равно крайне достойно. А то что DLC к игре бесплатно, то это вообще песня. Рекомендую Sea of Stars крч.

If you're looking for a game like Final Fantasy 6 or 7 or 9 or 10, or a game like Secret of Mana or Lufia or ChronoTrigger, meaning a masterpiece as a rpg, well look no further, that's the best I found up to now :D
The music is more than amazing, the combat system is kinda perfect and the story well...I cried at least once, just to give you an idea :) I could say that's a solid game, but nonono....this game is a masterpiece.

I just bought the three Octopath games but I didn't play yet.

This is wonderful - while linear, fairly easy, not very deep this game is utterly engrossing.

It’s gorgeous, has amazing music , great story and is genuinely adorable . I never played the original 16bit chrono trigger, ( I was a pc gamer back then already) but if anything, Sea of Stars made me discover the 2D jrpg genre , and now I want to explore more of it .

Sea of Stars is a wonderful, wholesome JRPG that got me to like JRPGs in general. A very reasonable story length of roughly 30 hours for me, not including the post-game expansion, gorgeous art, catchy music, endearing characters (Garl is a treasure), and genuinely crazy plot twists.

The co-op mode is also fantastic because all the timing challenges in battle only need to be completed by one person in the party so if you're playing with kids or someone who is newer to these kinds of games, you can still solo the timing challenges like normal, which I think is a great way to help people get into the game who may not otherwise want to play it (it can be surprisingly hard without the story mode assists).

I definitely recommend it.

A beautiful adventure! The pixel-art visual style is absolutely charming and gives the game a strong identity. The music is really enjoyable and truly enhances the feeling of traveling. Sea of Stars is easily one of the best modern RPGs I’ve played. It perfectly captures that classic retro feel while adding just enough modern polish to make everything feel smooth and fresh.

The pixel art is absolutely gorgeous, with detailed environments and fluid animations that make every area stand out. The soundtrack is incredible and fits the world perfectly, making exploration and battles even more immersive.

A really good nostalgia experience, a fun game with good story telling. I started my first playthrough on the harder difficulty and left it that way, so that there would be no brainless combat, no grinding, no slog - and I made the right decision. Almost every fight has a chance of killing the party, and that has certainly made me more engaged. The visuals, music, engine, character design, it is thumbs up across the board for me!

Really? THIS is what the hype is about? It looks gorgeous, but, come on man, the combat is an amazingly simplistic slog. There's no way to learn new skills outside the plot basically and everybody has an extraordinarily tiny move set. Almost totally linear with no way at all to grind and there's not much you can do to prepare for a battle - no passive traits or new classes or anything along those lines. The story is just kind of there, and overall this game is just surprisingly bland. The devs put a lot of love into it, but they completely flubbed the combat system.

Ich habe das Spiel durchweg auf dem Steamdeck gespielt. Es läuft flüssig und sauber.

Sea of Stars hat alles, was es für ein gutes RPG braucht. Tiefgang, Emotionen (ich sage nur Garl), gute Grafik, gute Musik und vor allem eine spannende Geschichte.
Ich habe früher viel und gern die alten RPGs auf dem Super Nintendo gespielt. Secret of Mana & Secret of Evermore, Chrono Trigger, Terranigma, Mystic Quest usw.
Sea of Stars reiht sich gut ein in diese großen Namen.

Das Kampfsystem mit dem Time-Events empfinden manche als störend, ich fand es innovativ. Es ist spannender als ein Zelda, bei dem man eigentlich immer nur draufhauen muss und actionreicher als ein Secret of Mana, wo man 30 Sekunden sein Schwert laden musste. Hier muss man aufpassen um rechtzeitig zu blocken oder ähnliches.
Man merkt, dass sich die Entwickler richtig viel Mühe gegeben haben. Man merkt es in vielen Details. Die Story ist groß. Wirkt am Anfang wirr und am Ende rund. Es gibt viel zu entdecken, viel zu sammeln, viel zu erleben.

Jedem Fan der RPGs der alten Stunde kann ich nur raten: Probiert es aus! Mir hat das Spiel sehr viel Spaß gemacht =)

Me ha gustado mucho. Siendo sinceros, lo que me atrajo de este juego en un inicio fue el estilo artístico más que la historia, y debo decir que en eso es una pasada. Ojalá más juegos siguieran la tendencia de volver al pixel art, porque pese a que el trabajo que conlleva puede ser mucho mayor, el resultado es una bomba.

Por otro lado, debo decir que en algunos otros aspectos me ha decepcionado un poco. La historia, aunque en términos generales es bastante buena, peca mucho de ser la típica historia de "héroes elegidos que tienen que derrotar a un malo malísimo". Y ya. Los dos protagonistas se me hacen bastante planos durante la mayor parte de la historia, y me parece una auténtica oportunidad desaprovechada viendo lo bien construidos que están otros personajes como Garl, y lo divertidos que son otros como los piratas, de los que no llegamos a saber mucho en realidad en la historia principal.

El final sí que me ha decepcionado mucho. Al menos el que se obtiene sin completar todos los objetivos opcionales. Derrotas al boss, y ya. Y ni siquiera es el malo malísimo que ha causado todo el problema de la historia, sino uno de sus secuaces. Yo estaba esperando que ocurriera algo más, pero no. Se queda ahí. Y me ha dejado seco.

Pero reitero, para mí jugar Sea of Stars ha sido una experiencia positiva en general. El apartado artístico, el diseño y charm de los personajes y los bosses, la variedad de ataques que tienen y las mecánicas de combate... Elevan a otro nivel un juego que, de no ser por estos aspectos, sería simplemente... Normalucho.

Its an excellent game with outstanding visuals and music, and a good storyline.

Yeah, some of the fighting mechanics get old after a while and fights can feel like they last too long in some of the areas, also some of the characters in the party could use some more... character. But overall I had a lot of fun with it.
The DLC is very good as well, despite some of the new skills you use there being not too great, and the enemies were too spongy (plus, some of them could heal their whole group or, worst case scenario, there was one type that could revive all of his fallen allies!).

If it weren't for these flaws, I'm sure this game would be regarded as a classic.

Sea of Stars is a JPRG in the style of old gaming classics such as Golden Sun and Chrono Trigger that focuses on a group of friends as they accept their fate as the Children of Solstice and do their duty to defend the world from the evil Fleshmancer, after fully completing the game i'll give some pro's, neutrals and cons.

PRO'S:
-Good characters that are well written, well designed and stylish
-Great environments with amazing attention to detail
-Amazing lighting and effects that really give the game a nice mystic type of feel
-Good amount of puzzles that are well designed and fun to figure out
-Good combat that is unique, well designed and balanced
-Good music that fits the game perfectly, great soundtrack
-Great story that has plenty of twists and turns along with many good heartfelt moments
-Good map exploration that is very reminiscent of old school JRPG's, well designed towns to explore, puzzles to solve, secrets to find
-Good enemies that are well designed
-Has cooking mini game that gives passive bonuses to your characters
-Has a fun little board game mini game if you want something extra to do as you explore the world
-Has a fishing mini game with many fishing ponds scattered around the world
-Has multiple cinematics that give the game more style
-Has free DLC, that's gives the score an extra point
-Has Co-op if your into that kinda thing, i played solo that's what my review is based on

I've been playing games on Steam for years, and not ONCE have I ever write a review, but GOOD GOD this game is so frinkibinking awesome.
It's not a perfect game, but a a good game, one unlike any other I have ever played, if you like jrpgs please give this a chace, even if you don't particulary like jrpgs actually.
Games like this deserve much more recognition, and if it weren't for this kind of games we woulnd't have others like Expedition 33.
So please, buy the game, and enjoy playing a product especifically designed to enternain you in the simplest and purest way possible.

I've recently been made aware that a decent chunk of people think this game's story is bad. I'm writing this to tell you that such criticisms are pretty strongly exaggerated. This is a perfectly good game and an easy recommend.

Get the obvious praise out of the way, the presentation is top notch. It's a very colorful and vibrant world with colorful and vibrant characters and creatures. Easily one of the prettiest pixel games I've ever seen out of the indie scene. Music ranges from decent to catchy and is always used appropriately.

Gameplay-wise, Sea ofStars is also very solid. At least, it was for me since I played it on hard mode, which buffs enemies and prevents you from using items in battle and fully healing from resting at a campfire. Anyway, this is a turn-based RPG. Enemies roam around set areas of the world and you can engage them if you wish or try to avoid them. Approaching an enemy that is unaware of your presence gives you an advantage. Once in battle, everyone gets into a set position. Where enemies stand matters. If they're standing close to each other, it may be possible to hit multiple enemies with one big special attack. A couple of characters even have special moves that reposition enemies so you can take full advantage of this mechanic. Every attack in this game has a small window in its attack animation where pressing the confirm button will boost the power of the attack, sometimes even causing the attack to go off again. You can also press the confirm button to defend yourself from enemy attacks. It's great cuz it keeps you active and alert during every phase of every battle. Perhaps the most interesting mechanic of this game occurs when enemies try to use special attacks. Enemies have to spend turns charging up their special attack. During this time, their defense is increased. You can interrupt these special attacks by hitting the enemy with the correct attack attribute (slash, bash, poison, moon, sun, or arcane). Sometimes, you need to hit them with multiple different attributes. So, when you see an enemy charging up a big attack, you'll be made aware of how many attacks need to land, but now what attributes. It becomes a fun little thing where you want to try and start using special attacks and combo attacks that have as many attributes as possible, because even if you don't cancel the enemy's attack completely, you can still reduce the power for every correct attribute you land (with a few exceptions). Sometimes, you may just not even want to bother with trying to cancel the attack and heal up instead to weather the next attack if you're in a bad spot already. Basically, I played for 44 hours and never once got bored or apathetic towards the combat.

As for gameplay outside of combat, it's good. Just good. Exploration is rewarded and I don't think anything is actually permanently missable. There are only a handful of sidequests, but the rewards for completing them are quite useful as a result. The in-game economy is pretty well balanced. I almost always had just enough money to get essential equipment upgrades and a couple more useful things. You're encouraged to forage the world for ingredients to cook in order to maintain your party members, because cooking meals doesn't cost any money. Overall, I'd say the gameplay experience is carried by the battles, but it's built on a solid foundation.

Now, as far as the story goes, I'm really confused as to what people wanted to see. I suppose the fairest complaint is that the characters don't do a whole lot of growing. I can agree with that. The thing is, they kinda don't really need to do a lot of growing. They're already quite likeable, and not in a forced way where the game keeps telling you to like them. No, I mean they're genuinely nice people that I'd probably spend an afternoon with. I'm sure your mileage will vary, but I know for a fact that not every beloved RPG has great characters with tons of depth, or even a great story. One thing I really appreciate about this game's story is its world building. There are lots of moments where you get to learn about the history of this fictional world, why some groups are the way they are, and I enjoyed all of that a lot. Another complaint I've heard refers to what becomes of some villains and how it relates to another game called "The Messanger". I'm told this game is a prequel to The Messanger. I wouldn't really know. I played The Messanger 6 years ago and I couldn't tell you a single reference outside of one reference in the post game. I don't really know how to describe these complaints without getting into spoilers, so I'll just say that the ultimate fate of everyone in this game was satisfactory to me. I can only assume that critics wanted something more like villains groveling for mercy, only to be swiftly put down, but this really isn't that kind of game and I don't know why anyone would think that. it is.

In conclusion, this game is an easy recommend. It's affordable, it's short for an RPG, it's fun and engaging, it's pretty, and the story ranges from inoffensive at worst and enjoyable at best.

How this game is not at least a 8-9/10 for just about everyone baffles me. This game honestly got me back into single-player games. Sea of Stars has so much heart and charm going for it. I genuinely cared for the characters and thought the writing was good. The story is unique and creative. The art... oh my gosh- amazing! And the battle mechanics are simple but addicting. I found myself wanting more just to mess with the battle mechanics. Personally, this is a top 5 JRPG for me.

El juego es sin duda hermoso, pero con eso no me alcanzó. A las 14 hs de juego, me venía obligando a jugarlo, sin ganas, tan sólo para ver si el juego me enganchaba. El combate me parecía repetitivo, fácil y sin diversidad, todo esto aclarando que no soy un acérrimo fan de los JRPGs. La historia me parecía muy genérica y vacía. Juro que quise quererlo, pero realmente no hubo caso. Abro el paraguas y digo que no lo recomiendo desde mí perspectiva y que quisas no soy el target real para este juego, pero si alguien es como yo, entonces quizás le será útil esta pequeña reseña.

Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, Dragon Quest, FF7 – для меня это игры из разряда [i]«мне очень нравятся, но я в них не играл»[/i]. Безусловно, это уже классика…но они все так состарились, что без шаманской магии так просто в них не поиграть. А ведь хочется во что-то подобное поиграть…
Именно с таким чувством я начал играть в Sea of Stars – современная JRPG в духе [i]«той самой»[/i] классики 90-X. Забегу вперёд и скажу, что Sea of Stars не является каким-то шедевром и уж тем более не станет «классикой жанра». Но ей этого и не надо, чтобы быть очень хорошей игрой.

[h2]🟢Плюсы[/h2]
[h3]Мир игры[/h3]
Наверное, именно он привлёк моё внимание. Концепция большого и волшебного мира, состоящего из множества островов, я встречаю довольно редко (только One Piece приходит на ум), а ведь это идеальный вариант для игры про приключение и свободу. Что касается мира игры, то он отличный, и его хочется исследовать на все тайные закоулки и награды.
Также у мира есть относительно небольшой лор, но он полон различных историй и легенд, которые всегда приятно слушать возле костра от Тикс.

[h3]Пиксель-арт[/h3]
Игра сделана в пиксельном стиле аля [i]“Игра на SNES”[/i]. Разница лишь в том, что технологии с того времени скакнули вперёд: персонажи и их портреты нарисованы красиво, локации разнообразны и наполнены мелкими деталями, а анимации придают живость миру. Особенно понравилось динамическое освещение, которое плавно меняется одной кнопкой. В общем, художникам большой лайк за 16-битный стиль.

[h3]Головоломки[/h3]
Исследование и бои разбавляются небольшими головоломками. Они достаточно разнообразны и не требуют от вас 200 IQ, но и не скатываются в «решение в одно действие». Есть классические загадки с поиском парных плит, перемещением блоков, отражением света, сменой весов, составлением маршрутов и т.д.

[h3]Звуковая часть[/h3]
Как и визуал, звук сделан с большим уважением к JRPG 90-Х. Звуки ударов, успешных попаданий в тайминг, нахождения предметов – всё это звучит хорошо. Над музыкой тоже постарались: у каждой локации есть своя музыкальная тема, которая меняется при смене времени суток. В боях же музыка чаще всего повторяется, но с разным звучанием.

[h3]Боевая система[/h3]
Вот вроде классическая боёвка из JRPG с пошаговой системой…но тут врывается Mario RPG со своей системой [i]«скрытых QTE»[/i], что сильнее вовлекает в бой. Ещё есть прикольные механики с прерыванием заряжающихся атак и живой маной, благодаря которым нужно на несколько шагов вперёд продумывать свои действия.
Хотя и поругать боёвку есть за что: некоторые QTE вообще неинтуитивны (особенно для лечения), а в определённый момент бои становятся однообразными и слишком частыми. Ну и лично мне не хватило какой-то… [i]«глубины»[/i] в боёвке. Здесь нет дебаффов/баффов, оглушений, дот-эффектов (хотя урон ядом так и намекает на это) и т.д.

[h3]Боссы[/h3]
Именно здесь боёвка полностью раскрывается. Боссов в игре много, и каждый из них требует уникального подхода и концентрации. А на высокой сложности без грамотного распоряжения ресурсами вас снесут за 3-4 хода. Такие битвы продолжительны (10-15 минут) и постоянно держат в напряжении, потому что ХП босса не отображается.

[h2]🟡Спорные моменты[/h2]
[h3]Сюжет[/h3]
Нельзя назвать сюжет сильной стороной игры. Это очередная история об «избранных», которые отправляются в большое приключение, чтобы спасти мир от тёмного зла по имени Флешмансер. В целом сюжет достаточно простой, добродушный и даже наивный…но это не значит, что это проблема (Боже, помилуй тех, кто считает детскость априори минусом игры). В игре хватает неожиданных поворотов, хорошего юмора и просто эмоциональных моментов.
Напарники сглаживают неоригинальный сюжет. У каждого из них есть свой характер, мнение на ситуацию и персональная история, в ходе которой они меняются. Чего только стоят Гарл и Сераи. Но есть в этом ложка дёгтя – [b]главные герои[/b]. Они вяло участвуют в диалогах, не проявляя уникального характера или личности. Точнее, личность есть, но она у них одна на двоих. Даже немногословный Клауд из FF7 будет проработан лучше.

[h3]Колесо[/h3]
В игре есть свой аналог Гвинта под названием «Колесо». И как бы это сказать…ну он очень спорный. Конечно, у него интересная концепция и механика, а играть интересно. Но всё портит ровно две проблемы: [u]отсутствие баланса[/u] (связка монка и роги – самый настоящий чизинг) и [u]рандом[/u]. Пофиг на тактику – крути барабан и молись рандому.

[h3]Сложность[/h3]
Мне нравится, что её ты можешь настроить под себя. Тем самым игра даёт тебе выбор, что круто. Но даже так само скалирование сложности здесь идёт в обратную сторону. Я играл на высокой сложности и если в начале было очень трудно, то дальше становилось всё проще и проще.

[h2]❌Минусы[/h2]
[h3]Отсутствие коопа по сети[/h3]
В игре хорошо реализован кооператив, но он только локальный. Это значит, что если вы хотите сыграть с другом по сети, то вам придётся использовать Remote Play, который будет снижать качество картинки вашему другу. Ну и кооперативные ачивки в изначально СИНГЛ игре – это брух.

[h3]Недосказанность[/h3]
Как я понял, Sea of Stars является приквелом к предыдущей игре разработчиков. И акцент явно делался на то, что мы знаем её, т.к. некоторые вопросы остаются неразрешёнными (особенно с судьбами некоторых персонажей). Та же [spoiler]четверка культистов просто исчезает из повествования в середине игры и больше не появляются [/spoiler]. Но особенно это касается концовки…

[h3]«Истинный» Финал[/h3]
У игры есть две концовки: стандартная и истинная. И для второй нужно чуть ли не на 100% пройти игру, что готов сделать лишь малый процент людей. И эти люди в итоге получат… ту же самую концовку, суть которой не поменялась (минимум изменений). Хотя эмоционально концовка всё равно работает и оставляет “приятно-грустное” послевкусие…

Да, пожалуй, именно эта деталь компенсирует все недостатки игры – [b]эмоции[/b]. Сюжет может и простой, но у игры всё равно получается играть на чувствах игрока (последняя сцена true финала у меня в сердечке). Многие игровые механики JRPG здесь упрощены, но взамен нам дали и новые. А мир пусть и пиксельный, но сделан и анимирован с душой так, что он чувствуется живее некоторых игровых миров из больших игр.
Sea of Stars – это сказка, которая способна погрузить в вас в простое, но яркое приключение о дружбе, свободе и мечтах. И хотелось бы, чтобы таких сказок было больше…

People who say otherwise don't like videogames. This game has it all. Nostalgia, JRPG elements, innovative twists, a great told story, awesome music, engaging combat, outstanding 16-bit pixel graphics.
I was so surprised by the characters and storytelling. I actually was shocked at some story turning points and actually teared up at other situations.

Don't buy it on sale. But it now. It is worth every penny and the devs deserve all the money for this game.

RPG avec des graphismes rétro bien agréables.
Les nombreuses "reliques" vous permettent d'adapter la difficulté selon vos envies.
Les attaques peuvent avoir différents éléments, sans que ça tourne au plat de spaghettis indigeste.
L'histoire est assez conventionnelle, mais quelques touches d'humour sont là pour agrémenter l'ensemble.

거기에 더해 피곤한 전투가
이 게임의 단점을 극대화했다고 봄
매번 전투할 때마다 쉽게 이기는 법이 없고
모험 중 얻게 되는 템도 좋은 것들이 없다 보니
캐릭터들이 성장하는 것도 잘 못 느껴짐
도파민 터지는 부분이 크게 없어서
몇 시간을 하던 얼마나 노가다를 하던
내 캐릭터들은 여전히 제자리걸음인 게 보였고
그러다 보니 스토리는 전형적인 모험을 떠나는 용사물 스토리인데
모험심이 아예 사라지게 됨 그렇다고 스토리가 매력적이냐 하면
그것도 애매함 게임은 이 회사의 전작인 The Messenger를
플레이해야 그나마 떡밥이나 연결점이 좀 보이는데
이전작을 플레이하지 않고 하게 되면 그냥 지들끼리만 아는 씹덕용어를
남발할뿐 그리고 거기에 더해서 떡밥에 떡밥을 더 얹음
이새끼들은 모든 등장인물들한테 떡밥을 3개 이상은 만들어 놓고
엔딩쯤에 가서는 한두 개만 알려주고 다시 새로운 떡밥을 또 얹음
아주 못 배워 처먹은 새끼들임
거기에 더해 캐릭터들이 하나같이 다 밋밋함
디자인도 밋밋하고 작명도 밋밋하고 다 밋밋함 그리고
제일 밋밋한 가를 이 새끼는 주인공도 아닌데 ㅈㄴ 나댐
더 말하면 스포지만 암튼 두 주인공이 들러리된 느낌으로
스토리가 진행되니 너무 몰입이 안된거 같음

솔직히 기대 많이 했던 게임이고 전작인 The Messenger를
너무 재밌게 해서 그런지 실망이 더 컸던 거 같음
수려한 도트 그래픽과 훌륭한 ost는 100점을 주고 싶지만
나머지는 최하점인 게임임

I did not sign up to play "Sea of Garl".

This singular character ruined the entire game for me.

Most issues facing the party are through his own stupidity and garbage nature.

His best scene in my playtime was the beginning of the game.

Sea of Stars ended up taking me a little longer to finish because I mainly played it on my Steam Deck, and honestly it felt like the perfect game for a handheld device. It’s the kind of RPG that is easy to pick up, play for a bit, and then come back to later.

The art style is beautiful, the worlds are memorable, and the story is very well done. There’s also a twist later in the game that caught me off guard in a really cool way and added a lot to the experience.

By the end, though, the game probably ran a little longer than I would have preferred. There were still side activities I could have done, but I found myself ready to wrap things up so I could move on to other games. That said, the journey was still very enjoyable.

Overall, Sea of Stars is a really good RPG and one I would definitely recommend, especially as a handheld or mobile-style experience. It’s a great game to play in shorter sessions while still offering a full and memorable adventure.

Simplesmente amo esse jogo, história e gameplay muito divertidos, já tinha jogado uma vez mas não tinha me atentado em fazer o final verdadeiro e agora que fiz só amo ele mais ainda, a unica coisa nele que achei paia são os troféus do coop, porque eu queria platinar mas precisa de 3 players e não tenho como conectar 3 dispositivos de saída agora para poder fazer e não tenho ninguém pra me ajudar, mas fora isso o jogo é foda recomendo

Ainda não conclui o jogo, estou indo com calma para aproveitar o cuidado e dedicação na arte e música do jogo.
Mas estou sentindo que ele está "me forçando a rushar"... os monstros não reaparecem se eu avançar para a próxima tela e voltar...eu literalmente resetei o jogo para poder subir um pouco o nvl dos personagens para conseguir derrotar um dos chefoes

Fun game, with its own unique turn based content. It gives you a reason to use all the characters regardless of who is the strongest or most capable which is nice. The music is good and visuals are well done. I do think it is worth the money and is easy to get into.
