Honestly SCP: Fragmented minds is one of the best SCP games out there and there's only been one chapter.
I've followed this game's development since pretty early on so I'm happy to say that this may shape up to be THE best SCP game ever. Even better than SCP containment breach. Do yourself a favor and buy this game, I promise you won't regret it.
This feels like SCP mixed with doom (2016) atmosphere wise, the creature design is on point, and even if it's not what you'd expect an SCP game to look like it still feels like it fits in with the rest of the universe.
The only complaint I can think of is that at times it's a bit difficult to tell what you're supposed to be doing since there aren't any objective markers, but I only had to look at a playthrough once.

This is probably the best SCP game i've ever seen and it has so much potential. I really suggest you try this game and have no regrets.

Short and sweet, for the price you get a decent 5 hours of play time. Nothing revolutionary, but tense and clever.
This game was so good, almost like I was watching an award-winning TV show. The developers were really working hard on this one, even in the chapter 2 sneak peak. Can't wait to see the complete release, this already got me looking for every possible clue/sneak peak.
*edit* after thinking about things I thought the game needed improvements on, I really want kovich and the other characters to interact with each other more. I also really hope that when kovich finally enters the main dome, he meets up with his MTF team, even if some or all of them are killed off in a later chapter, i really want to see them meet. Progression was fairly linear, I know the aspect of them game is to be non-linear-ish so I also think that way more different paths should be made in addition to the few that are already in chapter 1.
p.s. i really want some things like backgrounds in the steam point shop, seriously the graphics of this game is very good.

This review is not to bash the game but to simply do what the devs asked and review the game to help with development. The game is great and the devs are really talented and simply know what they need to make the game more enjoyable and I can't wait to see what they cook regardless of my complaints. So go and buy the game and support the team behind fragmented Minds.
After a first playthrough of "Chapter 1" some of the major problems with the game that I hope to see fixed or polished were instantly apparent.
The combat is very dull especially for a starting area and since there is only one or two mandatory combat encounters you're not really encouraged to try and be creative when it comes to dealing with the enemies. When you do decide to fight back combat boils down to stunning, whacking away and the occasional block if don't decide to stun the enemy first. When it came to using the barrels I didn't bother to give them a second thought as an option to take out anything. I did try to make the fire extinguishers work but found the timing to be annoying without hurting myself but I never tried to use them to sneak attack any of them. Will also try to see if I could just throw and shoot the extinguishers with Sarah rather then letting them blow up in my face. Fighting the elder was also disappointing when I just attacked it the same way as the other 3199s.
Enemy behavior is god awful. They all walk on a set path so its very easy to walk past all of them and avoid detection. They don't feel "alive" to make them feel real in their world. Since walking straight past them all it got me hoping that in the future they make it so all the residue left behind by SCP-3199 would make your footsteps louder to 3199 to hear to get them to investigate and to encourage you to find a alternate path around them or to sneak kill past some to add more "mandatory' combat encounters.
Exploration at times feels very linear for "chapter 1" don't know if I wasn't looking well enough or this is something that is planned to be expanded even for chapter one. But when it came to the open warehouse, tunnels and enemy infested areas It felt like some areas where given wasted alternate routes that didn't reward you for exploring(Easy to not care when the game is very much in development) or pointless to take when you could sneak straight through all the enemies resulting in a linear path to quickly go on to the next area. But when it also comes to all the office and maintenance areas I'm not expecting a ton of rooms to avoid seeing doors that say "locked" or "power needed" but more things to make it feel like one moment there was people just being themselves and the next chaos. More in the line of "2017 Prey" which is the feeling I get playing "Fragmented Minds".
Story wise I'm easily invested in it just because it's anything to do with the SCP foundation. But Kovich really needs to have more to say and react to when it comes to him seeing all that is new and horrifying to him. There's a lot more that the game needs to get fixed but they are things that seem like they will be addressed in future updates to the game.

This game gives me HalfLife vibes in the best possible way. I love it and can't wait for part 2!
This game is increadably well pollished, every item that I thought "oh yea I could jump this gap or climb this surface.
The non blast doors can be moved around after they are opened like doors in real life. My only half gripe with the game is with whoever did the horifying sound disign, they managed to truely make me feel like a paranoid skitsaphrenic. This has made it so that I can't finish the game because its too scarry but im a bit of a ♥♥♥♥♥ so this isn't much of a problem overall.
This is a great game with lots of pollish I highly recomend.

I would like to start off that SCP Fragmented minds is by far one of the most gorgeous SCP games I've seen, The Graphics even on medium still look great, The environments are well lit, and the SCP's react to light very well.
The score is also genuinely impressive and heightens the tension in most scenario's however in most area's it can become repetitive especially with Repeat encounters of SCP-3199 and its various growths.
However, for as great and ambitious this game is there are parts of the game that I really wish get ironed out later on in the games development.
[h1] The Games Optimization is Great, But also Messy. [/h1]
For Starters I am on a Ryzen 5 7600 and an RX 6750 XT, which is a mid range GPU and a great CPU, I was able to run this game flawlessly and without issue on Ultra.
However, Even after multiple hotfixes there are parts of Optimization that continue to concern me and have yet to go addressed.
Back when SCP Fragmented Minds came out, I was unable to complete the game due extremely high CPU Temperatures nearing on 95 Degrees, I have never experienced this in any other game in my life even games twice as demanding, Additionally as of the multiple hotfixes that came out, this issue has MOSTLY gone addressed but remnants of it still persist to this day, I will still see sudden and massive CPU Temperature increases, but not to the likes of 95 degrees, and these high temps persist for quite a while.
Freezing, Sudden CPU Temperature spikes, are a constant with this game and not bad at a glance, but it can become very annoying and almost detrimental when going in and out of sections.
[h1] Combat is incredibly dull, Creativity is encouraged, but never taught.[/h1]
If you are someone like me who likes playing stealthily and getting through encounters as quietly as possible to avoid wasted resources, You barely get enough room to experience the combat within the one hour/two hour long experience of chapter 1, however, The Combat really needs a touch up, I wouldn't be harsh to say an overhaul.
For Example, Here are issues I've frequently cited that make the combat feel a little lack luster.
The Forced SCP 3199 Elder Encounter is used as an example.
The best way to kill the elder is by luring it toward Barrels, Using Sarah and a fire extinguisher to freeze it and damage it from the explosions and then following up with 3 charged attacks before rinse repeating.
However, because there is only ONE notable encounter where combat is mandatory outside of the Elder Fight, You will never have an idea to do such a thing, Nor does the game really give an indicator this is the cleanest way to do this.
The Block is Incredibly unresponsive, You will hear an audible THUNK when a block is successful, but there is zero visual indicator that a block was successful, only an audio cue, and with little visual feedback.
Most of the enemies in the game outside of a few attacks from the elder and juvenile are completely and poorly telegraphed and do not give you much of an indication on when to block, resulting in block spam.
I feel like if you are going to do a forced combat encounter, you should have sprinkled those in between stealth encounters to get players accustomed to the combat and stealth, as I said there is only one mandatory combat encounter and then the Elder Encounter.
[h1] Navigation is rough and as a result most rooms suffer from straight hall syndrome [/h1]
If you are someone like me, you can very easily get lost and get confused as to where you are going, the main hub with Jayden is a prime example, when he asks you to disable the lockdown, You are not given any indication on where you are supposed to go with a way marker to said door and leaving you be once you go the directed direction.
Many rooms feel the same or some even go as far to be literal straight lines where it takes you from point A to Point B.
There are only a few rooms where I can think of where you can approach the way you get to point B in a different way.
You see this slowly but surely become apparent. as the game goes on, I do hope to see navigation improvements to give players hints on where they are supposed to go with a visual indicator as well as variety in room design, so they don't all feel the same. for example a point A taking you to point Z, The rooms need to feel different, your progression should feel meaningful and something the player can approach differently.

Despite the issues that really bogged the game down for me, I'm more than willing to give it the benefit of the doubt as its an early access product and things are subject to change. I do wish navigation and combat look to getting addressed so some players don't struggle or feel unengaged.
But despite those issues the game is an amazing product and definitely worth the £7.99 can't wait for chapter 2, Multiplayer and the survival mode I remember being mentioned in dev blogs.
It’s one of my favorite SCP games so far. It’s kind of frustrating seeing some of the negative reviews crapping on the game when it’s in early access and saying the gameplay is lacking—well, no sh**. It’s early access. Keep up the good work, devs!
