Denuvo, ubisoft connect, ubisoft connect's cloud saving not working resulting in my losing ~8 hours of progress. Wish I could refund, not worth the $4.99 I paid for it. Was a great game, sad to see it with such a terrible company.

Como port esta una mierda. Para jugarlo hay que instalar la plataforma de Ubisoft, y la configuración y sincronización de controles es tediosa.
Como juego es divertido, original y su estética es muy bonita. Es complicado, y exige tiempo, no es precisamente un juego casual. No vale tanto como pretende Bugisoft pero en oferta puede valer la pena. Esta bien.
I love this game. If there wasn't a need for Ubisoft's launcher.. it would be infinitely better lol. Luckily, the new release [i]"Scott Pilgrim EX"[/i] [b]doesn't require the launcher[/b]. Regardless though. [u]Scott Pilgrim vs. the world[/u], is an incredible game. Quite a short beat'em up. 7 levels. 7 bosses. One at the end of each. Simple movelist. A leveling system for some reason. Currency to buy items across levels in certain stages. And so on. Also quite challenging at times; and there's even a pretty cool hidden character you can unlock later on after beating the game a certain amount of times.
I highly recommend this to anyone who hasn't tried it before. Especially for the online/co-op aspects of it. 10/10 Game right here from me.
Also if you want to know how to unlock the one hidden character, here's how to do so: [spoiler]He plays the same as the main guy Scott. Unlocked after beating the game with each of the main cast of characters. Scott, Kim, Ramona, and Stephen. The character is pretty much just a re-color of Scott, who has a different special, guts attack, and a few different animations and some new base attacks.[/spoiler]

And it can all be enjoyed with friends/family along the way with the inclusion of local/online co-op. 10/10.

multiplayer doesn't work. it's broken. errors every time. and it has to go through Ubisoft anyway which makes it a huge nightmare to get set up properly and then the thing doesn't even ♥♥♥♥♥♥ work lmao. refund time!!!

I'm aware of how beloved this game is and how it's a rerelease of an older game but for the life of me, no matter how much I am so keen on trying to fall in love with this game, I genuinely can't get myself to get into it and stick with it. I am also aware of the fact that the game requires you to be connected both online and with Ubisoft Connect at all times in order to play, but I'd like to mostly focus on the gameplay itself in this review.
First thing first, I recognize that this very much FEELS very retro; through and through, it feels like an old game and what you'd expect from an older-game, and a part of that really helps the immersion of it feeling so nostalgic and simple, so much so that I can genuinely imagine myself sticking with this for longer.
I wouldn't say I'm a big fan of Beat 'em ups, but I very much enjoy a lot of them and praise the core element to them where it doesn't have to be complicated. It's an arcade-y style game where you can just go in and out at any given time without feeling the pressure of having to learn such a complex story OR relearning different mechanics that makes or breaks the game; the very fundamentals of this game being a beat 'em up also was a bit disappointing because punches felt very weak with no strength to it, and it was just a constant battle of getting stunlocked for 5 seconds with no counter or recovery. The game felt like it was an endless cycle of just constantly getting your momentum killed before it ever even picks up and it feels like it fails as a game that's meant to be a fun beat 'em up.
But something about this game specifically feels so dreadful and empty, I've never watched any TV Show of Scott Pilgrim and have only went as far with the movie, and some clips of their TV shows... I went into this game expecting the game to have the same kind of flashy-feel and eccentric-style of the movies and just the entire IP of Scott Pilgrim itself, it feels very lively, arcade-y, fun, quick and snappy.. but this game felt... incredibly slow and tedious. Maybe it just had a slow start and I've yet to give it a chance, and honestly, I actually did start to grow on me a little pushing through the first few stages but it still ends up feeling a little bleak.
The game comes off to me as a little empty and no part of it gives any sort of justice to this IP as I know it from an outside perspective; and in no way, shape or form does this game feel any friendly towards any person who is only getting *into* Scott Pilgrim, rather than people who are already *very familiar* with the franchise.
One way to explain it is that it feels like it's very fanservice-y, and a lot of it will go over your head if you're not already a hardcore fan of it and that it feels a bit intimidating for anybody who wants to get into it due to there being no real story, and it just dropping you straight in the middle of everything with no explanation or storytelling whatsoever. I understand and know the basic premise of the core of what Scott Pilgrim is but nowhere have I ever really given any sort of motive to get through this game since it makes you feel kind of lost from the very beginning, upon pressing "Start", you are immediately just dropped into a character selection with no introduction or notes of who's who and right after comes the world select and you don't even know why you are there in the first place, upon completion of a level, just a single image frame and that's it. No text dialogues, no speech bubbles, no storytelling found to be anywhere. If I didn't know any better, I'd be so confused as to what the game even is and why would I even be here in the first place; like as if an unfinished gameplay demo of an untitled game were just shoved into my face.
The reason why this is such an issue to me is because it is a complete disparity to what Scott Pilgrim tries to make itself as for an IP, quirky lovable characters all with their own eccentric attitudes and personalities that clash into one another creating such a lively, fun, and absolutely electrifying setting. You don't get any of that in this game whatsoever.
Now moving past the gameplay aspect, I then have to remind you that you are constantly required to be online, Ubisoft Connect is there, DRM is there, incredible input delay even when playing as a single player, somehow the controller isn't supported and setting up a mulitplayer, whether co-op or local feels like the most impossible task ever, where one click of a button is somehow a two, and each and every single button just defies you and is by all means unresponsive, and would only ever "do something" when it feels like it.
For a game that's supposedly an old game, with such simple graphics, it feels like I'm running Cyberpunk and Elden Ring at the same time, all at once at the highest graphics possible for how unresponsive the game is, with its major delay EVEN THOUGH it's such a seemingly undemanding game.
Yes, I am playing on my computer, No it is not an issue with my PC specs, and Yes, I am plugged in into the controller with a wire.
This game just feels like a fever dream with how it plays, sounds, feels and works. Like just an absolute mess of a game with no sign of it being polished whatsoever, and as much as I hate it is to point fingers, a part of me feels like the fact that there is DRM and Ubisoft has had a hand on this is some to blame.

Third time I bought this game. Still an awesome game witth top notch sprite work and music! The gameplay is fun although not flawless.
The game has a couple of issues. 1. Ubisoft launcher; 2. Down time of enemies is too long; 3. Steam says there is no controller support, but controllers work perfectly fine - basically not a real issue.
It is worth to buy the game for the music and sprite work alone!

This game was a fever dream to try and play with friends. We had multiple desync's, where 2 of us were in front of the boss, 1 was fighting a wave we fought 2 screens back, and someone just existed purely in void. This is cause purely from the "Ubisoft Connect" software that forces itself to install and you must have it to play this game at all.
Another fun game ruined by Ubisoft. I recommend you give this one a pass, its not even worth it at 5 bucks.
I have a stack of old Ubisoft games I can no longer play because they abandoned them with broken DRM. The same will happen here thanks to Denuvo and UPlay. Do not buy.

Ok, almost as I remember it on PlayStation 3, except of silly Ubisoft connect that required for some God knows why reason - maybe just cause? Some bugs were fixed, still grind required to get stronger enough - but I still like it.

i love millenial slop scott pilgrim and anamanaguchi, but i do not love that the steam version of this game has terrible to nonexistant controller support that only has the godawful and soon to be obsolete xbox button layout no matter what controller you use, also it was hard to get a controller to work at all

upon downloading the game i was hoping it would work , but nope constant freezing and the volume keeps ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up, meaning i cant even hear it sometimes unless i close and open it again. also it doesnt support controllers either, i dont really feel like playing with keyboard and i was excited for this what a a waste of my 5 dollars
Very glad to have this game be preserved after years of being banished to copyright hell. For a licensed game it's not the most polished product of course but it's short and sweet. Sucks that this version though has audio issues. Super excited for EX.

in theory, ubisoft’s scott pilgrim vs the world presents itself as a title almost surgically tailored to my tastes. I admire the live action film, the comics, the animated adaptation; moreover, I have a longstanding affinity for the side scrolling beat em up genre.
I have invested countless hours into shredder’s revenge alongside various other entries within the genre, deriving substantial enjoyment from them. however, something about scott pilgrim vs the world refuses to click with me in the manner I anticipated.
the experience feels sluggish. characters feel slow and barely responsive. combat lacks the fluid cadence that defines the genre at its best. it is paradoxically more engaging to watch one play the game rather than actually playing. every movement carries an unwelcome weight; the inputs never translate with the immediacy I seek. I acknowledge the appeal intellectually; nevertheless, I remain unable to internalize it. even basic traversal feels laboured.
aesthetically, the game excels. the character designs, the environmental artistry, the pixel presentation; each element reflects care alongside stylistic conviction. however, presentation alone cannot compensate for gameplay that feels inert in my hands.
for context, I played the demo for scott pilgrim ex; the difference was immediate. that title clicked instinctively, much like shredder’s revenge alongside other exemplary beat em ups. its movement feels agile; its combat responsive; its overall flow markedly more gratifying.
I have experimented with both keyboard alongside controller; neither configuration alters my experience. at this juncture, I would recommend prioritizing scott pilgrim ex upon release before investing in this entry. its mechanical fluidity alone distinguishes it.
naturally, this remains a minority perspective. many enthusiasts of the genre hold scott pilgrim vs the world in high regard. nevertheless, my considered recommendation is to gravitate toward scott pilgrim ex, which releases in the coming days.
I had to repeat the first level like 4 times because my stats where trash until I found out you can enter the shops from the background.

This game is crazy bad don't buy it. I love the IP, this game lacks allthe humor and is poorly made to boot. hit boxes on the enemies are terrible, and the game regularly traps enemies you need to move on off screen leaving you stuck having to reset. This is hot garbage.
