Clearly takes inspiration from old school Lemmings, with mindless dodos falling from a trap door and walking forward with no mind to the hazards until they reach the Exit, or die. Instead of granting the Dodo’s powers however, your entire interaction is to slide around either the columns or rows of the tiles that make up the level. In this way rearranging the structure in real time you can open up a path that saves some or all of the dodos. Sometimes you have a little bit of time to think about your actions but often and especially in later levels you are frantically shifting things around trying to keep the dodos from dying.

In that way this very much demands a fast response, making reflexes an important part of passing a level. Even then however it’s not trivially obvious what the solution is so it does definitely require a little bit of thought too. For me however it gets too frantic for there really to be enough time to think out what I’m trying to do. Thus the game becomes more frustrating than fun by the time I finished maybe half of the levels. If you like your games fast and furious however I think this could be a lot of fun.

Although clearly developed with mobile platforms in mind at some point, it currently looks like a desktop game and plays just fine on my laptop. And as a bonus it is fully touchscreen compatible.

Gra zawiera 100 poziomów na 4 światach (Prehistoria, Starożytny Egipt, Antyk i Północ Wikingów) oraz 4 specjalne Dodo, które pozwolą nam ułatwić grę (lub utrudnić). A mobile game I received for free. I would not have bought it. It is a decent puzzle game but intended for, more intuitive on, and likely more enjoyable on touch screens. Linux (Ubuntu 22.04) version works fine (though full-screen toggle is not persistent) so maybe it would be decent on Steam Deck.

I do not prefer the grind-for-highscore type games, but maybe this is for you and your touchscreen device.

Seemed like an okay premise, I could see how someone would think it was a good idea to make this, but it wasn't really very fun. I got 15 levels in in 15 minutes and was already disinterested enough to uninstall. Same mechanics every level, and wrap-around sliding-puzzle isn't really that great of a mechanic in the first place - it would be good for 10 levels then it's time to introduce something else. (And, more realistically, it's not even a mechanic for the first ten levels, it's a mechanic you introduce later, into a game that's already done some better mechanics you can combine it with.)

Graphics and sound are okay. It was a struggle to get it to even start on Linux (start button originally did nothing, forcing proton experimental made it play music on a white screen, forcing proton somewhere in the version 4 area got it working).

I am 32 years old.

My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.

When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.

Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.

With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.

After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.

Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.

Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.

Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.

"Save the Dodos" is an unusual hybrid of Lemmings and a sliding tile puzzle. Fundamentally a ripoff of Lemmings (but with dodos marching endlessly in one direction), instead of assigning jobs to some of the lemmings, you put your finger on your iPhone screen and drag bits of the platform level around to mix and match until you have the right escape pathway for the [strike]lemmings[/strike] dodos.

From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.

There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision.

The game features simple, cartoony 2D graphics, of the type you normally expect to see in low effort mobile apps. 3D graphics programming does require a degree of skill and competence and unfortunately not all developers have the budget or talent to deliver this, despite 3D graphics cards hitting the mainstream in the 1990's. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing.

The controls can't be customised because the game has such a dumbed down, simplified interface that it's just iPhone screen tapping stuff. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here.

Some of the defects in the game can be attributed to the poor choice of using node-webkit/NW.js instead of a serious game engine. This is a very poor quality toolset for gaming, sometimes used by amateur developers as it doesn't require advanced game development skills, but unfortunately has very limited capabilities because it's primary function for games is to make simple HTML/browser/simple mobile apps rather than full fledged PC games (and given we are here for PC games, you can see why this is a problem). Just as you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, you can't make a great video game if you use a terrible engine.

This looks and feels like a mobile app, but it doesn't seem to have made it to the app stores. It's unclear why this was put on Steam instead of the app stores it seems to have been designed for. Maybe it was removed, maybe it was rejected by Apple and Google (they do have more rigorous quality standards than Valve does for Steam, after all).

Regardless, for all intents and purposes "Save the Dodos" might as well be a mobile app, it has the same limitations and dumbed down qualities. It's impossible to recommend such a game to PC gamers. We don't spend all this money building gaming rigs so we can pretend they're iPhones and play games that might as well be mobile apps.

These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.

"Save the Dodos" didn't appeal much to the people who own a copy of the game, either. It has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game didn't really capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for finishing a level in less than 25 seconds, trivial to get, but less than 22 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. Hardly a success story, gamers just weren't all that interested in the game.

"Save the Dodos" is relatively cheap at $3 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.

Lemmings obviously comes to mind. However, this is not just a clone with modern art. The gameplay is different, and the mechanic here is tile swapping.
It's a light-hearted cute and colorful puzzle game where you have to save the lemm, er the Dodos. The difficulty is just right. Not too easy, not too hard.

Save the Dodos is a mix of the classic Lemmings with a tile swapper, and it mixed well. There's just enough variety in stages to prevent the game from getting boring and repetitive. The cheap price and colorful art style complete the pack. Finally, the game is quite lengthy: 100 levels in 4 different zones should take around 6~8 hours to complete.

My main critique is that it appears there was only the bare minimum effort on the PC version of this mobile game. There are almost no config options, and the Steam overlay doesn't work (no screenshots for you, but at least the achievements works).

Додо - не только оверпрайснутая пицца или додстер. Но справедливости ради, вкусная и с быстрой доставкой. А еще вымерший вид нелетающей птицы. Под Додо часто подразумевают маврикийского дронта, птицу, которую убил человек. Поскольку дронт жил в полностью комфортной среде обитания. На островах Маврикий не было существ, которые были бы опасны для Додо, поэтому когда они видели моряков или прочие намёки на скорейшею погибель, дронты думали "О прикольно, пойду схожу, узнаю что это".

Данная информация Вам в жизни не пригодиться.

Теперь об игре. Игра представляет собой простой платформер, целью которого является всеми силами спасти птичку Додо путем переставления платформ и сопровождения их до Save портала. По сути геймплей немного похож на Леммингов. В игре существует несколько видов Додо: призрачный, жирный, любвеобильный, с каской. Которые немного разнообразят гемплей. Так же есть четыре режима игры: доведи птиц до цели, доведи птиц до цели Но за тобой гоняется ебака, собери все фрукты на локации и донеси их до корзины, продержись N секунд пока за тобой гонится ебака.

Графика красивая. Играется на планшете довольно бодро. Достижения легкие, получил 38 из 43 даже не напрягаясь. Проходится за 3-4 часа, на 100% часов за 6 думаю можно. Имеет 100 уровней, каждый проходится секунд за 30 минимум на 1 звезду точно. Карточки есть.

По мне игра стоит ровно столько, сколько она дает. Это не шедевр, но и не мусор. Убить время любителям простых платформеров и офисных игр самое то.

Поскольку Додо не слишком умны, вы не сможете напрямую им командовать. Наши пернатые друзья просто запутались, и у них на тарелке было достаточно! Вы будете управлять Додосом, изменяя уровни. Меняя платформы и препятствия, вы можете направить Dodos к безопасности и избежать массового вымирания.

Save the Dodos сложно назвать полноценной компьютерной игрой, в ней нет ничего особенного и удивительного. Проект можно отнести скорее, к малобюджетной мобильной головоломке, однако не стоит радоваться так, как в AppStore и PlayMarket данный продукт, похоже, отсутствует.
Сегодня каждый желающий может создать похожий проект и выложить его в Steam Greenlight. В настоящее время на площадке Steam очень много похожих проектов на Save the Dodos и только из-за этого данный проект ничего не стоит.

4 мира, чтобы провести ваши додо; Доисторический, Древний Египет, Античность и суровый север викингов
4 специальных Додо
4 режима игры (классический, выживание, спасение, сбор)

Сюжет:
В проекте нет никакой сюжетной линии и весь смысл заключается в прохождении четырёх этапов. В каждом этапе, есть 25 миссий, которые отличаются лишь сложностью и на самом деле назвать все эти головоломки, сложными язык не поворачивается. Каждый этап - это отдельная визуальная локация, к примеру, во втором этапе игроку предстоит спасать Додо на песках и пирамидах Египта. Для получения доступа к новому этапу, игроку необходимо заработать определённое количество звёзд, которые даются за прохождение миссии. В каждой миссии есть условия для получения звёзд, к примеру, спасёте 10 Додо - 3 звезды, спасёте 7 Додо - 2 звезды, спасёте 3 Додо - 1 звезда.

Геймплей:
Весь игровой процесс, состоит из нескольких игровых режимов, которые практически ничем не отличаются. Первый и главный, заключается в том, что необходимо сопроводить 3-8 Додо до портала. Второй режим, можно рассмотреть как некое выживание, в распоряжении игрока находится 60-90 секунд и все это время необходимо правильно и грамотно избегать противников. Остальные режимы, встречаются очень редко и в них необходимо освобождать новых Додо, собирать различные продукты и т. д.

Достижения:
Единственное, что может задержать игрока, это игровые достижения, которые относительно лёгкие и выполнить их при желании, может, каждый. Сложности в достижениях никакой нет, так, как все они накопительные, к примеру, убейте 10-50 Додо, сохраните 100-200 Додо, соберите 50 звёзд и т. д.

Визуальная составляющая:
Визуальная составляющая ничем не отличается от множества различных проектов, которые еженедельно выходят на мобильные устройства. Конечно, локации древнего Египта и Севера нарисованы неплохо, но они не запоминаются надолго. Музыкальное сопровождение слишком назойливое и выводит из равновесия буквально через несколько минут.

Звук:
Здесь нет никаких игровых настроек, а это значит, что можно только включить или выключить звук. Нельзя настроить уровень звука, освещение, яркость и даже нет синхронизации сохранений т.е вам нельзя начать играть на одном компьютере и продолжить на другом.

Итог:
В итоге, можно сказать, что Save the Dodos является обычным низкобюджетным проектом, который может заинтересовать лишь заядлых любителей головоломок.
Покупать стоит только ради коллекции.

Казуальная головоломка про перетягивание девяти кусочков уровня по экрану, перекочевавшая на Steam со смартфонов. Основная цель - привести птиц Додо к порталу с минимальными потерями (они мгновенно помирают при встрече с ловушками и бегающими по карте охотниками). Содержит сто уровней. Удивляет лишь наличием додо-каннибалов с кровавыми клювами, которые зачем-то поглощают своих сородичей.

Надоедает сравнительно быстро (местами и вовсе кажется слишком легкой даже на поздних уровнях). Теряется на фоне "настоящих игр" со Steam. Ввиду однообразия игровых механик и общей репетативности геймплея порадует только "проверенных" любителей казуальщины - всем остальным может наскучить минут через двадцать после старта.

Вердикт: игра для смартфонов (в которую было бы приятно играть стоя в очереди), зачем-то портированная на PC. Весь геймплей показан в трейлере, ни на какие геймдизайнерские сюрпризы рассчитывать не приходится. Не вызывает ни отторжения, ни восторга - среднего качества "казуалка", утопающая в собственном однообразии, но в целом не заслуживающая негативной оценки (жаль, что на Steam нет кнопки "так себе").

A nice Lemmings-like game, only that instead of ordering your "lemmings" (dodos in this case) around, you move parts of the map to guide them.

Also has several extra modes (tied to specific levels) like survival, rescue and collection (don't know if there are more, only got to the second region of four yet).

Every region seems to have 25 levels so far, so there's enough to do - especially considering the low price this has when on sale.

Later there are also different types of dodos (you have to unlock them by completing the rescue-missions) with more or less different characteristics.

Also I didn't experience any bugs so far.

Definitely recommended if you're looking for a short and fun game - even if it's not on sale.

应该是手游移植过来的益智小游戏
总体质量还算不错，依靠移动切换地面组合，用来帮助渡渡鸟回到传送门
因为地图各个方向都是互通的，所有渡渡鸟本身不会摔死，但地图里仍然有很多危险的陷阱或者敌人，需要依靠你自己的操作，帮助渡渡鸟们躲避他们
每关都会出现一定数量的渡渡鸟，根据到达终点的数量给予一定评价，如果最低1星评价所需的数量都没达到的话则仍然算失败
难度不算很低。。。至少这不是一个只是依靠策略就能全部三星通关的游戏，有时候还是需要一定的快速反应力的
有时候不小心弄错了一步。。。导致渡渡鸟和陷阱在同一个地图块上的话，你无论怎么切换都无法避免渡渡鸟死亡
价格不贵，关卡数量也非常庞大。。。真要玩的话可以消耗非常多的时间

Save the Dodos is a modern Lemmings game with dodos! Use the mouse to swap the terrain around and make sure all your derpy dodos reach the exit safely without getting killed. The game has 100 levels to complete.

I'm quite impressed by the game! The terrain is divided in smaller squares. You use the mouse to swap the terrain both horizonal and vertical. The levels get more challenging as you move on, but some levels have some clever loopholes that make them very easy once you figured it out. You start with just the standard dodo, but as you move on you'll unlock different dodos that have some unique ability compared to the original one. This can make a level extra easy or hard (depending on what youre trying to do).

This game can get a bit bugged sometimes (frozen screen or multiple background sounds playing at once). But nothing a quick restart can't fix! The Steam Overlay doesn't seem to be working either, which means no screenshots to share on Steam sadly.
