This is my childhood game & my very first RTS. It's really fun, especially if you want to run the solo campaigns. It's very good for 5-10USD. Any more than that- just obtain it through other channels. I love the concept of having your military & civilization grow with different ages (ancient, medieval, industrial, modern). Going from spears to nukes- it's very satisfying. The music is really nostalgic for me and I still listen to it every now and then.

Infelizmente, o jogo não superou as minhas expectativas. Embora seja um clássico, a interface é extremamente datada e a curva de aprendizagem é demasiado complexa para quem procura uma experiência de estratégia mais moderna e intuitiva. Para quem está habituado a jogos atuais, a jogabilidade parece pesada e pouco fluida. Acabei por pedir o reembolso.

Grew up playing this, I still have the hard copy in my house somewhere, I bought the Extended Edition on Steam though, the original didn't have Thrones and Patriots but I digress, if you love RTS games give Rise of Nations a try! Conquer the World was great but I do love the other campaigns they added, specifically the Cold War. Multiplayer is also great, love playing with my friend, we'll tag team a group of computers on the hardest difficulty, we actually have to save the game because it takes so long to finish, we'll start playing early evening and fishing the next day in the late afternoon, it's insane. (Yes we do have a population mod on that increases it to 1,000). That said? Would highly recommend it, only thing I'm a bit upset about is that they never released a second installment, the only evidence of that on the internet is some concept art still floating around, which is honestly a shame.

Really unique ideas in it which are executed well.
The only gripe I have is that I HAD TO install the 4GB patch because the game kept crashing in multiplayer. Considering this is an official release on Steam called "Extended Edition" I figured it would already be capable of the 4GB patch, but I guess not. Small issue though.

One of my favorite childhood game. Timeless strategy game that's easy to learn but offer plenty of depth. If you like game like cilivisation where you go through the age of history, I strongly recommend this one.

[b]TL;DR: If you have a GTX 750 Ti as your GPU, this game might crash constantly. If you have another GPU, the game is actually really good and you should give it a try, as it feels like if Civilization had a baby with AoE. It has some really unique concepts for a RTS game.[/b]
The game is great, but it kept crashing in some scenarios. Some maps worked just fine, but there were maps that gave me a constant influx of BSODs - and after 15 crashes, I still couldn't pinpoint what was causing the problem. Tried to increase the memory by applying the 4GB patch, tried rolling back drivers, tried verifying the integrity of the files, but nothing worked.
Apparently it has something to do with my specific GPU, which is a bit dated - though it shouldn't have been a problem, since it was released around the same time that the Extended Edition was launched. I'll leave my specs in the review so you can compare whether it would work for you or not.
Bear in mind that if you don't have this GPU, you might REALLY enjoy this game. It's a really unique RTS and it mixes many war concepts that other games of the genre do not have - like [b]historical age progression, national borders and attrition.[/b] Its campaign is also fun, with a system inspired by the board game RISK, incorporating cards and regional power that would have you start battles with advantages or disadvantages. I might get back to it in the future when I upgrade my graphics card and this review could get updated then.

Unfortunately, the AI in this game is just really really really bad. This is probably the second worst RTS game of all time after the Empire Earth series. This is a game clearly made by people who don't understand the genre.
The concept sounds really cool - take a civilization form the stone age to the future. Where it breaks is the implementation. You basically have to rush and attack other civs as quickly as possible (even on the easiest setting) which basically defeats the purpose of having a future age in the first place. If you evolve to the future age, the game becomes so redundant and boring that it's hard to finish the same. The same thing happens EVERY SINGLE TIME: Once other civilizations get stealth bombers (which can't be shot down), they just bomb your wonders until you've lost all the benefits the Wonders give and you basically have to keep spamming units OVER AND OVER again to take out the civilizations one at a time. All the while, the other civilizations keep circling back and re-taking the land you've just taken so it's this never ending game of cat and mouse which gets REALLY boring REALLY fast.
I'm honestly don't understand how they missed the mark so horribly on this one. This was released in the golden age of RTS and it was just SO SO bad that it shouldn't have ever had a place along side games that actually work like Age of Empires.
I wouldn't recommend this RTS game to anyone. Stick with AOE, Ashes of the Singularity or Starcraft. These are reputable companies that actually hire good developers to make good Products. RoN clearly just cheaped out on the dev aspects.

Depois de Age of Empires II, esse foi o jogo de estratégia em tempo real que eu mais joguei na vida. Posso ter comprado só agora na Steam, mas jogo desde que foi lançado, sabe-se lá há quantos anos. Um primor.

经典神作，我从小时候第一次接触电脑的时候，除了玩BF2就是玩这部作品了。它让我在那个懵懂的年纪接触到了什么是战略、科技、资源、军事实力，以及它们在对抗对手的重要性。对我来说是一部特别有意义的益智游戏。小时候真的是天天守在电脑前玩。长大了偶然又发现了这部作品，果断入了一份回味了一下童年的味道。不得不说当年的游戏仍旧让我印象深刻，虽然这部作品没有中文，但不影响我游玩它。唯一美中不足的就是这个作品的画面有点落后了，画质不太清晰，而每局游玩的时长基本在40分钟往上，所以看久了眼睛会很酸涩。如果有机会，希望能玩到重制版

[b]43 часа наиграно.[/b] Это тот случай, когда запускаешь на один матч и потом смотришь на часы с вопросом, куда делся вечер. Игра затягивает намертво. Смесь эпох, RTS и 4X-элементов с нормальной макроэкономикой до сих пор ощущается редкостью, потому что похожих игр в таком же жанре и с такой же подачей почти нет. Тут однозначно респект за масштае решений: как расширяться, где держать границы, что апать в экономике, когда выходить в войну, как пережить переходы эпох и поймать свой темп.
[h2]Главная боль: лимит юнитов[/h2]
Самое спорное место для меня это лимит юнитов. Базовые 200 заметно душат, особенно когда партия разгоняется и хочется вести нормальную войну по карте. На анлокнутых 1000 игра раскрывается сильнее: появляются широкие фронты, резервы, давление по направлениям, ощущение масштаба и истории. Начинается тот самый режим, ради которого это вообще стоит включать.
При этом с большим лимитом приходит своя цена. Когда на поле 500 воинов, управлять ими совсем не так же быстро и удобно, как толпой из 50. Селекты, группы, постоянная суета по фронтам, реакции на прорывы, подвоз подкреплений. В какой-то момент ловишь мысль, что лимит в 200 появился как страховка от превращения матча в кликовый марафон. Для меня рабочий вариант это поднятый лимит с пониманием, что за масштаб платишь отсутствием времени и повышенным вниманием.
[h2]Вариативность[/h2]
В остальном игра жирная по возможностям. Настроек море, вариативности полно, стратегии реально отличаются и не сводятся к одному правильному билду. Можно играть от экономики и технологий, можно давить территорией, можно ловить тайминги по эпохам, можно душить оппонента на границах. Для 2003 года это должно было быть уровня легенды на все времена и GOTY, без скидок.
[b]Итог:[/b] если любите стратегии, где важны голова, темп и долгие решения, Rise of Nations однозначно для вас...

Отличная RTS, более глубокая, чем Age of Empires и другие её клоны. Образцовое переиздание: улучшенный графоний, достижения, рейтинги, мастерская, карточки, всё как надо. А то любят некоторые лодыри в стим засунуть какой-то древний артефакт без ничего и денежку за него просить по полной.

Чудова гра, крізь роки одна з най кращих стратегій, до того ж це моя най перша гра в жанрі стратегії з дитинства, яка мені показала цей ціквий жанр.
Однозначно рекомендую цю невмерущу класику, поціновувачам данного жанру!
