Rise is a small kid of Gamearth, the world where the classic videogame characters live. He finds himself lost in the middle of a war against the Space Grunts, the bald muscular soldiers with big guns that just invaded his world. Only with the help of the legendary gun, Shine, he’ll be able to stay alive and just maybe, incredibly, save his planet from the invaders.

Rise & Shine is a 2D Action Platformer and Twin Stick Shooter where you play as a child named "Rise" who finds a gun named "Shine" during space grunts invasion, and then decide to team up to put an end to this gruesome invasion.

The game offers connected linear multiple stages which will lead you through the story as you go, you will meet NPCs who will help your cause during your mission and also you will find hidden secrets and bullet upgrades which you can use in different ways.

There are enemy screens where sometimes you can get overwhelmed by the number of the bullets on the screen, it's after all a Bullet Hell genre, you can counter back the bullets by shooting them, or sometimes take cover behind objects placed in fighting scenes which makes it more fun as well.

The music and OST were nice, suitable for war themed and invasion games. It gets more intense during battle sections.

There are very few boss battles in the whole game, but all of them were fun where you need to strategize your attacks and use of different bullets to overcome them.

This is a fun and very recommended 2D Action Platformer Twin Stick Shooter game if you're a fan of either or both genres.

Good game. Short and sweet. Lots of little secrets and Easter eggs, and the hunt accentuates the great artwork. Both puzzles and battles hit a sweet spot for me challenge-wise, taking a few tries without getting super frustrating.

Playing on a controller, the gameplay was pretty good although switching gun modes and bullet types effectively got confusing.

It took me about 3 hrs to complete the story, and I'm no speedrunner.

Incredibly short when going for nothing but main story completion, and it did not grab my interest in any of it's bonus activities. I may be wrong, just going by memory, but I swear this used to be a flash game on Newgrounds or something like that. Only worth it if you're into this particular genre AND it's on sale.

Este juego es una BASURA y voy a explicar claramente porqué:
1: El juego abusa del instakill. No es divertido que en su única dificultad, te maten de 2 impactos, pero menos agradable es que abusen de matarte de un impacto. Al final se convierte en una espiral de muerte y reinicios que aburre mucho
2: El juego es un "bullet hell", pero el problema es que el nivel de enemigos y balas que te persiguen es absurdo en muchos puntos.
3: La historia es simple, y decepcionante. Los personajes protagonistas y los secundarios son irritantes y planos de principio a fin
4: Avanzas 2 pasos y te corta el paso una horda de enemigos o un puzle con mala sombra. Avanzas otros 2 pasos y vuelta a empezar
Dura 1 hora el juego. Pero se completa en 3 porque 2h son muertes continuas y ensayo y error con puzles tediosos.
5: El boss final es difícil. Pero más que nada porque te mata de un golpe y él es una esponja de daño. Una vez vencido tendrás un final muy decepcionante.
RECOMIENDO QUE NO LO COMPREIS NI JUGUEIS.
Lo mejor que podéis hacer es ver un gameplay acelerado con cortes del juego en Youtube. Si lo decidís comprar no recomiendo gastaros más de 1€ (Key). Creedme que no los vale. Lo único que merece la pena es el apartado artístico

The visuals are really nice. The rest of the game is awfull ...sofar I played. And I did not even finish the first level, because its so bad.
The controls are one of the worst I have seen ever. It started when I tried to use the mouse to use the main menu. You can use the mouse halfway to light options up, but this does not mean its really "active". You can't click anything either. Then I tried to mix controls with mouse and keyboard. Kb does not work at all, beside the enter-key. But you can't use this combination either because you can't mark anything proper with the mouse, nor navigate with the kb. For chance I found out, the menu is meant for using a gamepad only. Such an ridiculous experience is already the best welcome to a quality time in games you can have.
Somehow I managed then to mute the music and start the tutorial. They really honestly teach you there how to jump, dash (they call it run), cover and shoot. And REALLY HONESTLY you will not regret taking a quick look at this tut at least. My mood was already beyond sealevel at this time. The real game itself could not cheer me up anymore either. Mainly simply because of the controls. Guess you can remap the buttons, but I decided to save the effort, because somehow its edgy, no matter where I would bind the actions.

I rather would buy this game as a comic book, than to fiddle my own way through. At least I would not have any problems to use my own real hands to turn the pages.

Rise & Shine es ese juego que parece una cita a ciegas entre un shooter arcade de la vieja escuela y un rompecabezas que hay que resolver bajo fuego cruzado. ¿Excitante? Sí. ¿Frustrante? También. Es como intentar montar un mueble de IKEA mientras alguien te lanza pelotas de ping-pong.

Lo primero que llama la atención es su arte. Vamos, que el juego es bonito, con esos gráficos dibujados a mano que hacen querer pausar solo para apreciar las escenas, como en una galería de arte pero con explosiones. Además, tiene esos desafíos que te hacen usar tanto el cerebro como los reflejos, un combo entre un James Bond con dislexia numérica.

Al juego le hace falta un poco más de equilibrio entre disparar y pensar. A veces se siente como que te piden hacer malabares con cuchillos en lugar de pelotas. Rise & Shine es un juego de plataformas y disparos en 3ª persona, en el que controlamos, valga la redundancia, a Rise (el niño) y Shine (la pistola). Mundojuego está siendo invadido por el imperio Nextgen, siendo Rise elegido por los "guías" para empuñar a Shine y detener la invasión a balazos. Se trata de un juego relativamente breve y a mi parecer muy bien equilibrado, con buena dosis de acción (y gore) y situaciones diversas que hacen el juego muy dinámico y nada repetitivo. Además, encontraremos numerosas referencias a personajes conocidos de videojuegos a modo de guiño.

[h2]Jugabilidad / Apartado técnico[/h2]
La jugabilidad es precisa y bien cuidada, requiere puntería y reflejos, ya que pueden condensarse muchos proyectiles en pantalla y nuestra vida es bastante limitada, fácilmente morimos de 1 o 2 toques. El juego nos ofrece 2 tipos de munición, así como 3 modos de disparo, lo cual también sirve para resolver ciertos puzzles sencillos o situaciones concretas. Es más recomendable jugar con ratón y teclado, pues te permite mucha más precisión a la hora de disparar, pero funciona perfectamente con mando.

Completar la historia no debería tomarnos más de 2 o 3 horas si vamos con calma. Una vez completado el juego en modo normal se desbloquea la dificultad Iron man (donde solo tenemos una vida), siendo este logro el infierno de los completistas (el truquito de usar "copias de seguridad" solo sirve hasta mitad del juego, a partir de ahí... "Git Gud"). Muy recomendado este jueguecito de del estudio español "Super Awesome Hyper Dimensional Mega Team".
Lo salvaría de un incendio! 👨‍🚒👍🔥

Rise and Shine es un juego muy simple, si esta en oferta y estas aburrido compralo, de otra manera no lo recomiendo mucho, la historia hace guiños a todo la cultura de videojuegos y obviamente no se toma enserio, el juego suele tener una mecanica de morir obligatoriamente para saber que hacer, el disparo esta bien y el apartado gráfico es de lo mejor que tiene, ademas de que es bastante corto y un 100% solo es dificil y tediosos, es un juego simple y basico, eso no esta mal pero no vengas con granes aspiraciones.

Rise and Shine is a near miss. It has a weird thing going on that you don't often see, where the game is very polished, yet it also feels incomplete in almost every way. The game is a side scrolling twin stick shooter, you use your gun to both blast enemies and solve puzzles. Both aspects are well done, the gunplay feels good and the puzzles are tricky and clever. The problem lies in that the gameplay never builds to anything more exciting. Even for a game that is incredibly short, the encounters all end up feeling samey.

Taking place in a world that is a mishmash of all video games, Rise and Shine does a good job of throwing out nods and winks to video games of the past without having to resort to corny pandering or meme culture. That being said, the game never takes it to the next level, it teases changes in art/graphical style, but never follows through. The narrative is the same, it sets the game up and doesn't really follow through on much.

Rise and Shine would be palatable as a $5 game, maybe even $7.50. It is very pretty, and the gunplay is cool. $15 is entirely too much for such a short, repetitive game however.

Te digo una cosa; tengo más tiempo jugado por conseguir los dichosos cromos.
Dicen que es un juego corto pero me niego a comprobarlo. Con 45 minutos he tenido más que suficiente.
Los gráficos están bien, pero los controles son bastante incómodos. El uso de la bala teledirigida apesta.

It's not a bad game exactly, but it's a little more difficult than it leads on.

As someone mentioned in a review below, I'm not really sure why there's a health bar when almost everything kills you in one hit.

It's a neat game because of the gun puzzles, but ultimately is quite flat other than the art. I'll recommend it, but probably on a deep sale price as it doesn't seem to be very long. Just hard.

Rise & Shine es un run and gun con alma de cómic, mezcla de humor, acción y frustración a partes iguales, donde controlas a Rise, un niño que debe salvar su mundo acompañado de Shine, una pistola que habla con más actitud que muchos protagonistas de acción.

El juego es tan bonito como difícil, cada pantalla parece una viñeta animada, llena de color y detalles, pero también de enemigos que no te dejan ni respirar. Su estilo visual es espectacular, con referencias a otros videojuegos que le da un toque único y muy divertido.

👍🏻 Muy recomendable si te gustan los desafíos intensos y los juegos con mucha personalidad. Detrás de su apariencia de cómic simpático se esconde un título exigente, original y sorprendentemente adictivo.

-While unholstering and aiming your movement speed is significantly slowed.

-Your dash ability doesn't have I-Frames.

-You can't jump and then dash in the air.

-The camera shake is ridiculous. Every single time I fire my weapon?! No option to turn off.

-Its hard to read visually what is happening due to the art style and camera shake.

-You are forced to take cover "Gears of War" style. With a button to enter and exit cover. In a "Run and Gun" shooter?!

-Your health bar is tiny, onscreen below your character. Red jelly on the sides of the screens obstruct your already compromised view to indicate low health or damage.

-Childish and dated references: "Noobs", "Badasses"

Jogo curtíssimo, virei apenas em 3 horas. Apesar da proposta interessante é um game com alguns problemas bem chatos, puzzles mau elaborados e dificuldade muito oscilante, uma hora muito difícil outras bem fácil, sem contar com a história bem fraca. Apesar de ter um preço bem pequeno não recomendo.

It's hard to make the difficulty properly and this game isn't successful in it. I played thru elden ring, S ranked cuphead and it's DLC but this game is very bad. I have to control my bullets in a bossfight, i still don't know if the analog let the bullet move in any direction or its like 10 or 12 directions. Gameplay is too slow and always broken by puzzles.

So sad because the art team did a great job and it has a lot of fan service with all the game references, but the gameplay itself is very slow and full of suffering.

I will say the Ugly first
- difficult (even on easy)
- trial but death, attempt again, death, attempt again, death.... rinse and repeat...
- puzzles..... urgh....

The bad
- some of the puzzles can take a while to work out and that is just really annoying for a side-scrolling platformer that is suppose to be a simple shoot-em up.

The good
- It has a story
- There are some funny parts
- attacks are not basic, there is variety
- Graphics/Sound
- There is more blood than a baby in a blender

Had I known it was a difficult / Puzzle/Shoot-em Platformer instead of just Shoot-em up platformer i wouldn't of bought the game. BUT...
The game is still, it is just my personal preference toward certain puzzle games. The Puzzles in the game, require quick reaction, accuracy, and patience.

Rise and Shine feels like it came out of a completely different era. Its art direction, excessive gore, and general humor all feel like they came out of the glory days of flash games on newgrounds. It constantly references other games and the general story is that Gamearth needs to be saved. It really makes you feel like you opened up a time capsule. However this game came out in 2016. It's a love letter to older flash games that doesn't hold back its punches and bathes in its crude humor chalk full of references. The plus side to this is that it plays incredibly well with tight platforming and having to act fast or on time to enemy attacks really feels great. The only thing that feels a little bit problematic is that shooting your weapon requires you to sorta stop everything and aim. Also when you need to take control of a bullet, sending it flying after aiming feels off and most of the time you miss your shots. This also kinda adds boring moments to the game where you're retrying the same shot because you keep missing an enemy's head or having to redo a boss segment just because you didn't aim the bullet right. But apart from that it was a really enjoyable experience albeit a short one. Definitely worth picking up on sale!

Another example of where devs were super try-hard at making an obnoxiously "difficult" game instead of something fun. I really wanted to like this game. Love the artwork and theme, the story seemed interesting, but I couldn't get into the annoying combat and puzzles. You have a slight health bar, but with the number of 1-shot-kills... why have one? The guided bullet is annoying AF, and you have to direct it through irritating gauntlets just to hit a button. I quit once I got to the first boss. Trying to shoot the 3 grenades it chucks at you, and then avoid this ridiculous barrage of bullets... all without dying in 1-2 hits... come on.

Again... make a game that's fun. I will never understand why developers are so obsessed with creating games this challenging. I know there's a small number of players who enjoy that, but most people don't. There are countless games out there... and we're not going to waste our time playing something that requires us to die 50 times before we can move forward. A good balance in combat is key, and this game definitely swings in the direction of... "Holy f#ck me" hard.

But hey... you got my money. Who cares if I actually enjoyed the game, right?

This is Ready Player One in side scrolling video game form. There are endless references and Easter eggs from older games, and I found that endlessly charming. The game itself is fine, but not amazing. It plays similarly to Metal Gear with over the top cartoony action and massive bosses to fight. As such it does a solid job. I'm going to give this game a weak recommendation, I really did enjoy my time in the game, but I also dident really come back to it either.

By no means a long game, but it's an entertainingly meta and self-referential game that's also a bit of a satire on the gaming community. The smooth controls and unique art style are something you'll appreciate when playing. Definitely worth getting your hands on, especially during a sale.

No cóż, ja jestem świeżo po skończeniu omawianej produkcji i całkowicie się z tym nie zgadzam, bo racja gra jest dość wymagająca, ale dzięki dobrze zaprojektowanej rozgrywce i lokacją nie bywa ani trochę frustrująca. Bardzo częste i umiejętnie rozmieszczone checkpointy pozwalają na szybką naukę i opanowanie planszy do perfekcji. Wszystko jest tutaj naprawdę porządnie zrównoważone i ostatecznie mimo wysokiego poziomu trudności przez całość przeszedłem dość płynnie. Uważam, że tak samo dobrze zrównoważona została tutaj długość gry — można ją przejść w około 3 godziny i choć wydaje się to dość niewiele, to moim zdaniem dla tego typu produkcji jest to zdecydowanie wystarczające, ot przyjemna przygoda na jeden wieczór. Dla osób chcących spędzić tutaj trochę więcej czasu zostaje tryb "Iron Man", który to już nie wybacza żadnych błędów, tym samym usuwając zapis gry po każdej śmierci.

I'm sure this game is for some people, but it was just too frustrating for me for two reasons:

1) Annoying puzzle system that is super finicky
2) The game demands absolute perfection, even on Easy. I legit don't understand why there's even a health bar, everything in the game 1 shots you, often times out of nowhere.

Great game with good synergy between its gameplay mechanics, visuals, and soundtrack.

My biggest complaint is that I wish the game were 1-2 hours longer. The movement controls are a pinch sluggish but not bad. I beat the game in about 2 hours, so make what you will of the $15 price tag. However, given the quality of everything that it does have, I think the price seems vaguely within reason.

Rise & Shine weiß irgendwie nicht was es sein möchte. Ich kann mir beim besten Willen keine wirkliche Zielgruppe für das Spiel vorstellen...
Zumindest gehöre ich nicht dazu.
Das Spiel ist schwerer als es aussieht und auch brutaler als man anfangs meinen würde.
Und mit schwer meine ich so schwer, das es frech ist. Ständig gibt es Instantdeaths, die Trial & Error vom Spieler abverlangen, was ich persönlich schlichtweg verabscheue.
Und so wurschtelt man sich mittels Trial & Error durch ein Spiel durch was nicht sonderlich interessant ist und zudem versucht interessant zu wirken mit Anspielungen auf andere Videospiele, die, wer hätte es gedacht, besser sind und dementsprechend ein vom Spiel genannter Grund sind, dieses hier nicht mehr anzufassen und andere, bessere Spiele stattdessen zu spielen.

Kommen wir für die Schnellen unter uns einfach mal zur Pro-Contra-Liste:

+ Die Idee sich in die Höhe zu schießen, statt zu springen ist irgendwie nett, auch wenn es im Endeffekt das Gleiche bewirkt
+ Fourth Wall Breaks (also, dass das Spiel sich selbst bewusst ist, dass es ein Spiel ist) sind recht unterhaltsam gewesen
+ Der Comiclook sieht gut aus

[u][b]Contra:[/b][/u]

- Instant-Deaths, die teils ohne Vorwarnung kommen
- Sei der schöne Hintergrund noch so schön, was bringt dieser denn, wenn bei dem hohen Schwierigkeitsgrad des Spiels man ständig auf seine Umgebung achten muss, dass man nicht sofort stirbt?

+- Teilweise fand ich es schwierig zu erkennen was sich im Vor- bzw. im Hintergrund befindet

I really wanted to give this game a chance but Rise & Shine is like a patient diagnosed with schizophrenia. It serves beautiful colorful graphics in post apocalyptic world, the main hero is 10 year old kid but the game let him die painfully in explicit scenes, it accents on covering system but don’t let you to use properly due to constant enemy fire, it requires precise navigation of guided bullets but gives you imprecise controls, it wants to build the oppressive atmosphere but throws the many jokes into it. And I could continue like this.

나름 퍼즐 플렛포머라고 해야하나... 컨트롤하는데 2가지를 한번에 해내야 하는게 꽤 됩니다.
볼륨 자체는 크지가 않아서 컨트롤만 된다면 평균 2시간이면 완결을 볼정도로 짧습니다.
스토리는 이게 뭔가 하는게 자주 있긴 하고 패러디도 많아서... 그냥 그려려니 합니다...

Ça se voit que l'équipe qui a conçu ce jeu était impliquée et passionnée par leur projet. La DA très typée bande dessinée est plutôt sympathique, le gameplay tente de se renouveler tout au long du jeu et il y a quelques bonnes idées et même si le jeu était relativement court, je n'ai pas vu ça comme un défaut. Le jeu sait s'arrêter avant qu'il ne s'essouffle totalement. Mais malgré ces bons points, je n'ai pas du tout accroché au jeu à cause de sa difficulté parfois injuste et pas très bien dosé, le scénario qui est assez accessoire, des phases de jeux où il faut mener la balle téléguidée à des interrupteurs qui, je trouve, casse le rythme de jeu et des nouveaux éléments de gameplay apparaissant au fil du jeu qui ne sont pas vraiment fun et qui sont utilisés de façon assez scolaires. Ce n'est pas un mauvais jeu, c'est juste un jeu moyen à assez inégal qui cible avant tout les nostalgiques amateurs de run and gun à l'ancienne (donc pas moi).

A pesar que este Gun & Run no es están frenetico como lo son habitualmente lo son de este genero, es mucho mas táctico en el uso de cubrir, desenfundar y utilizar los diferentes tipo de balas y habilidades, hasta como manipular tus balas a ciertas zonas. Hay algunos puzzles que no son la gran dificultad, pero igual no están demás. El apartado del juego hace muchas referencia de los videojuegos de los 80 y 90, cada uno de estos personajes con su tragico final durante la invasion del Mundo Juego. La estetica es un estilo cartoon que no le cae mal, teniendo algunas escenas gore, ya sea de nuestra propia muerte o de otros personajes.

Questo sparatutto a scorrimento orizzontale è veramente divertente. Ci sono dei piccoli enigmi che rallentano un po' il ritmo di gioco, ma sono ben inseriti nel solido gameplay. Lo consiglio a tutti gli amanti del genere ma voglio mettervi in guardia sulla durata del gioco che è veramente minima: in 3 ore si arriva alla fine. Devo dire che la difficoltà è abbastanza alta, quindi questo potrebbe rallentare un po' la cavalcata verso i titoli di coda. Segnalo la presenza di una modalità Iron Man, in cui bisognerà affrontare il gioco con una sola vita. Morire significa ricominciare da capo. É una modalità per pazzi masochisti: l'ho apprezzata molto. La cosa peggiore però è l'impossibilità di skippare i dialoghi in-game e doversi sorbire della lente animazioni che quando si gioca per la prima volta sono piacevoli. Purtroppo se siete tra quei pazzi che proveranno a giocare nella modalità Iron Man queste animazioni e dialoghi saranno il peggiore scoglio che fiaccherà la vostra determinazione. Riverderli per la quindicesima volta comincia a venire a noia...

한 자루의 총으로 게이머스의 운명을 구할 소년의 여정 [b]《라이즈와 샤인》[/b]이다. 단도직입적으로 말한다. 굉장히 플레이 타임이 짧다. [i]뭐 그래도 어드벤처 게임이니 6시간은 넘는 거 아닌가?[/i] 그런 생각은 버려라. 각 스테이지의 길이도 굉장히 짧고, 보스전은 총 네 번이 끝이다. 그리고 난이도도 쉬운 편이라 더욱 짧게 느껴지는 편. 눈치와 센스가 좋은 사람이 처음 플레이할 경우 빠르면 1시간, 못해도 3시간 안에는 끝을 볼 수 있을거라 본다.

확실히 쉬운 게임이다. 쉬운 게임인데, 아이언 모드 때문에 도전과제 올클리어를 위해서는 다소 노력이 필요하다. 이 게임은 노멀이랑 아이언 난이도랑 완전히 동일하다. 다른 점이 있다면 바로 아이언 모드는 퍼마데쓰라는 것. 즉, 한번 죽으면 아에 처음부터 다시라는 말. 거짓말 안 보태고 총알에는 2-3방, 덩치들에게 공격당하거나 함정에 걸릴 경우에는 무조건 즉사다. 노멀에는 세이브가 혜자라 죽어도 부담이 없는데, 아이언 모드는··· 어쩔 수 없다, 부담이 큰 게 사실. 실수로 뭐하나 잘못 누르면 바로 즉사. 하지만 다행히도 플레이 타임 자체가 워낙 짧기에, 약간의 노력과 의지만 있으면 가능한 수준. 적들의 총알은 총알로 맞받아 깨부술수 있고, 덩치들의 이동속도는 느린 편이며, 우리는 2단 점프랑 대쉬기도 제약 없이 쓸 수 있다. 죽었을 때 [i]'아, 처음부터 하기 존나 짜증나네 접어야지 ㅅㄱ'[/i] 이렇게 치솟아 오르는 감정만 2-3번 잘 참아내면 된다. 그리고 신중하게 다시 진행하면··· 이거 충분히 해내리라 본다.
