I remember playing this game years ago, but never finished it because of clunky controls and some bugs.

Finally I did finish it, but my 8 hours of playtime is not correct. This game can be completed in around 4 hours.

The story worked fine for me, the gameplay so-so. Mechanics were OK, but throwing objects never worked for me. It's still pretty fun, if you can ignore the issues it has. On sale, definitely worth it.

Extremely disappointing.
I played Japanese survival horror PS2 games to death growing up as a teenager, and watching Remothered: Tormented Fathers go through development was so exciting. But no. Instead it was utterly broken audio design and imaging (something fundamental to the game for working out where your stalker is), super slow movement making any escaping frustrating, and harmful transgender stereotypes seen in the horror genre in past decades. Absolutely shocking.

Сначала напишу о первой части:
Remothered tormented fathers это редкий хоррор в нашей время, она с пониманием относиться к старой школе хорроров, без дешевых скримеров. используя только медленное, вязкое погружение в безумие и атмосферу тотальной безнадежности.

На мой личный взгляд основным моментом на который в первую очередь здесь стоит обратить внимание это звук и свет, потому что вы не увидите преследователя прежде чем не услышите его бормотание или кашель, а может быть скрип половиц в темноте пустого коридора.

Саундтрек здесь шикарный и держит тебя в напряжении ровно до того момента пока ты не добежал до точки сохранения и не выдохнул на секунду, Музыка начинает нарастать когда противник находиться близко, ты можешь услышать его за стеной либо под тобой когда ходит на первом этаже и бормочет что нибудь. Причем в игре такой саунд что он будто бы играет на твоих нервах, ты сидишь за жердочкой и думаешь видит ли тебя эта "Фигура в красном"?

Свет здесь тоже играет не малую роль, у Розмари рид (Так зовут главную героиню если ты не знал) есть фонарик и это реально нужная штука, но в принципе без него обойтись тоже можно, говоря о важности света, я имею ввиду раскаты молнии который освещают дом и при свете которых тебя могут заметить противники и ты в свою очередь их заметить можешь тоже.
При появлении определенного преследователя, если внимательно смотреть кроме изменившегося саундтрека и голоса противника, можно будет заметить что свет в доме тоже ведёт себя "Странно"

Дальше о Атмосфере:
Это уже вкусовщина, но я бы не проходил эту игру несколько раз если бы она не зацепила меня своей атмосферой, во первых огромный пустой особняк викторианского стиля где-то на затворках Италии, особняк действительно огромный и открыт к исследованию. Атмосфера создается здесь всем не получиться отметить что-то одно, Саундтрек, особняк с заколоченными окнами и скрипучими половицами добавить к этому дробь дождя по окнам и раскаты молнии и чем не замок доктора Франкенштейна?

Квесты:
Квесты здесь вроде бы и простые но в тоже время иногда и придётся поломать голову на некоторых местах, особенно в замкнутых пространствах когда за персонажем погоня, нужно внимательно осматривать комнаты на предмет ключей и возможных действий. (В винном погребе например такая штука была, когда заходишь в дверь ее нужно, забаррикадировать шкафом и когда противник ломиться с этого шкафа падает ключ, а все обычно в паники бегут дальше и встречают свой press f)

Схватки:
Схватками это конечно не назвать, но пусть будет так, находишь отвертку улучшаешь ее с помощью проволоки и при атаке у тебя есть чем отбиться. Крови здесь много и убегая от пресслодователя часто нужно продумывать несколько путей отступления иначе Розмари покинет помещения еле стоя на ногах в прямом смысле слова.

По итогу:
Для меня наверное это прям самый удачный коктейль хоррора поэтому 10/10

è un po' datato e si nota soprattutto nella grafica e dal punto di vista del gameplay c'è qualcosa di migliorabile (i movimenti di camera poi possono essere snervanti, in alcuni punti compromettono la giocabilità perfino) però il gioco ha un'atmosfera favolosa, gotica, tenebrosa e terrificante. è incredibilmente suggestivo, me lo sono goduto dall'inizio alla fine.

Подождав, пока гувернантка закончит смену, Розмари под покровом ночи пробирается в дом доктора Фелтона для того, чтобы расспросить его жену касательно их общей дочери Селесты. К сожалению, её поиски заканчиваются неудачей, ведь в её комнате наша героиня обнаруживает полуразложившийся труп его жены (по крайней мере, ей так кажется на первый взгляд). В этот самый момент в комнату врывается полуобнажённый Фелтон в руках которого красуется серп. Он подходит к трупу и произносит имя Дженнифер, и здесь Розмари вспоминает, что во время разговора с ним он уже произносил это имя во время того, когда она спрашивала его про его дочь Селесту, ведь Селеста – это Дженнифер. Получается, он убил свою дочь? Именно этот вопрос задаётся Розмари, прячась в шкафу в этот самый момент.

Верны ли догадки Розмари? Этим нам и придется заниматься большую часть игры, расследуя особняк в поисках улик и доказательств причастности Фелтона к пропаже его дочери. Попутно ища выход из особняка, по которому разгуливает полуголый дед, что пытается нас прикончить. [/b]

[b] Игровой процесс в Remothered: Tormented Fathers представляет собой стелс-хоррор. Из-за того, что местом действия является полуразвалившийся особняк, главной героине в лице Розмари придется передвигаться по нему, не издавая лишнего шума. Поскольку именно на него реагирует местный психопат (владелец дома) доктор Фелтон. Главная героиня – хрупкая девушка, посему единственное, что ей остается делать в любой ситуации – это убегать.

Но не стоит думать, что это типичный хоррор на манеру Outlast или The Medium. В арсенале Розмари есть небольшой ворох предметов: винные бутылки, чашки, различные атрибуты дома, которыми она может отвлекать врага, ведь враги в игре очень остро реагируют на любой тип звука, будь то шаги главной героини или ее взаимодействия с окружением дома. Также одним из главных атрибутов защиты Розмари выступает холодное оружие. Нет, она не будет использовать его для того, чтобы напасть на обезумевшего старика, ведь тогда бы игра закончилась сразу после первой встречи. Холодное оружие, по типу ножа или вилки, можно использовать в момент, когда враг попытается вас прикончить – происходит небольшое QTE, где нужно вовремя прожать нужные кнопки, тогда Розмари вонзит оружие во врага, тем самым открывая окно для побега, пока враг будет ошеломлен. Оружия хватает на одно применение, после чего ломается, и вам снова нужно будет искать для него замену, благо его в достатке.

Само собой, как и любой «Survival Horror», в игре присутствуют головоломки в виде поисков предметов, которые разбросаны по всему особняку. Отыскав которые, вам придется понять, где именно и для чего их использовать. В игре нет карты, поэтому нужно старательно запоминать маршруты, по которым вы будете передвигаться в походе ваших поисков, а также места, в которых находятся головоломки. В целом, данный элемент игры сделан на хорошем уровне, по особняку приятно передвигаться из раза в раз.

Еще одна из немаловажных черт данной игры — ее звук. Как и в любом Survival Horror, звук играет одну из важных ролей в игре, ведь именно он создает ту самую атмосферу дискомфорта, которую мы испытываем на протяжении игры. Но именно в Remothered звук является не просто инструментом погружения, он является частью игрового процесса. Поскольку благодаря ему мы можем ориентироваться, где и в каком именно месте находится враг, начиная с его шагов и дыхания и заканчивая ее бормотанием. [/b]

[h2] ИТОГ: 8.5 из 10. Remothered: Tormented Fathers – является одним из немногих недооценённых проектов подобного жанра, которые могут приятно вас удивить. История, что разворачивается на протяжении всей игры, её тайны и недосказанность заставляют забыть о том, что у игры довольно слабый дизайн и посредственные анимации. Тебе хочется просто идти дальше по сюжету ради того, чтобы наконец-то узреть его финал. Remothered – это духовный наследник таких легендарных серий как Clock Tower или Hunting Ground. [/h2]

Falando com toda sinceridade possível, esse foi o pior jogo em questão de gameplay pra mim. Muito travado, com alguns bugs em momentos cruciais, fazendo o player tiltar e perder totalmente o interesse em continuar. No entanto, eu tiro o chapéu para a história: surpreendente e chocante. This is part of a unique survival horror genre.
The ones that lets you face a unique deadly threat, like Alien Isolation or Amnesia the Beast.
I loved the fact that you are left on your own, trying to understand what to do and where to go without too many indications, and yet the level design isn't needlessly abstruse.
It's also frightening and stressful, but not as much as Alien Isolation and Amnesia: the Bunker.
it's also easier, so I definitely advice to play Remothered first for a first take into this genre.
The story is surprisingly interesting.

Recommended – on sale / for classic horror fans

If you grew up with PS1&2-era survival horror where you’re weak, hunted, and always a bit stressed, this feels like a small love letter to that era. If you expect smooth modern controls and a long campaign for full price, you’re going to be disappointed.

What I liked

The house feels like a real place
The mansion is old, heavy and noisy. Floors creak, doors complain, everything sounds like it’s judging you for snooping around. The environment isn’t just a backdrop, it adds to the fear.

Sound design that actually matters
I loved how sound muffles when the camera is near a wall or an NPC, and how every noise you make feels like a risk. You’re constantly listening and thinking: “Did I just alert someone, or is it just the house?”

Hiding is stressful in a good way
When you hide, the MC starts breathing harder, and it really sells the moment. You feel hunted, not like some action hero on vacation.

Old-school pacing
No cheap “BANG” jumpscare every 30 seconds. You open drawers, move around, make noise, and then regret how much mess you left behind, wondering if the AI will respond to it. It’s slow burn, not horror-on-rails.

Good value on discount
The game seems to last about 2–3 hours once you know what you’re doing. For a deep sale price, that’s fine. As a short, intense horror experience, it works.

What I didn’t like

Clunky and dated feel
Movement and interactions are stiff. It definitely feels like something from another era, but not always in a charming way.

Stealth can be janky
Sometimes it’s not clear if you got caught because you messed up or because the AI just decided it saw you through reality itself. Not game-breaking, but frustrating.

Trial & error deaths
The game likes to kill you as part of “learning the rules.” If you hate repeating sections because you didn’t know what was coming, this will annoy you.

Story is interesting but messy
Without spoilers: the story has cool ideas but isn’t always cleanly told. Don’t expect everything to be nicely explained.

Final thoughts

Remothered: Tormented Fathers is a short, focused, old-school horror game with a great atmosphere, strong sound design, and rough edges everywhere.

If you:

like classic survival horror,

can tolerate clunky controls and some jank,

and grab it on sale,

then it’s worth playing at least once.

If you want long playtime, modern polish, and zero frustration, it’s probably not for you.

Довольно занятная и жутковатая игра. Хоррором и шедевром её не назовешь, скорее триллер, сюжет и персонажи которого раскрываются по мере прохождения. Было и такое - вот это поворот! Наверное больше рекомендую чем нет. 7 стариков с голой жопой из 10 :)

In Remothered: Tormented Fathers schlüpfen wir in die Rolle von Rosemary Reed, deren Ähnlichkeit mit FBI-Agentin Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster lässt grüßen) kaum zu übersehen ist. Aus zunächst unklaren Motiven besucht sie den pensionierten Notar Dr. Felton in dessen düsterer Villa, in der offenbar ein schweres Familiengeheimnis begraben liegt. Story und Atmosphäre sind grundsätzlich gelungen und erzeugen stellenweise eine dichte, bedrückende Stimmung.

Leider hört das Lob hier größtenteils auf, denn spielerisch hat Remothered erstaunlich viele Baustellen. Allen voran Rosemary selbst: Sie bewegt sich quälend langsam und agiert oft so unbeholfen, dass es regelrecht schmerzt. Das Spiel setzt massiv auf Backtracking, offenbar um die Spielzeit künstlich zu strecken. Hinzu kommt, dass häufig völlig unklar ist, wohin man als Nächstes soll oder wo sich benötigte Gegenstände befinden. Hinweise gibt es kaum bis gar nicht. So irrt man oft planlos und ohne roten Faden durch das riesige Anwesen.

Währenddessen wird man immer wieder mit denselben Verfolgungs- und Stressmomenten konfrontiert. Das Spiel hätte auch problemlos „Schleich-Simulator“ heißen können. Speicherpunkte sind zudem rar gesät, was bedeutet, dass man bei Fehlern oft weit zurückgesetzt wird — besonders frustrierend, wenn man nicht permanent zum nächsten Speicherpunkt zurückrennt. Spätestens hier leidet der Spielfluss erheblich.

Auch das Ende beziehungsweise die Auflösung der Handlung konnte mich nicht überzeugen; der Plot fühlt sich letztlich unbefriedigend an. Und so wimmert und stöckelt Rosemary (natürlich in High Heels, die man in einem Spiel, in dem Lautlosigkeit essenziell ist, selbstverständlich nicht ausziehen kann) mehr schlecht als recht durch die Villa. Ich habe das Spiel trotz meiner Abneigung nur mithilfe von Guide-Videos beendet, da man sonst schnell ins reine Rätselraten verfällt.

Unterm Strich bleibt ein durchschnittlich gutes Spiel mit einer eher mediokren Horror-Erfahrung nach Schema F. Remothered ist kein schlechtes Spiel per se und für Fans von Thrillern oder Krimis durchaus einen Blick wert. Wer jedoch Wert auf ausgereifte Spielmechaniken und einen flüssigen, fairen Spielfluss legt, könnte hier schnell frustriert werden. Ein sehr wackliger Daumen nach oben — bin mal auf die Fortsetzung gespannt.

I was really excited to play this game but couldn't even get through the first hour.

The walking pace of the protagonist is sooooo slow and if you want to run you have to listen to endless panting.

Pros: [b] If you enjoy female survival horror like Rule of Rose or Haunting Ground, then Remothered is a great game [/b] with some questionably problematic themes (as many old school style horror tend to have, this may be a pro or con to each individual player). The female character moves, acts, fights, and interacts with puzzles and surroundings as a woman of the last century would have - an immersive experience for those who enjoy this common realistic aspect of female survival horror. It is cozy horror that takes place in once-beautiful Italian mansion. The size of the mansion works well for the amount of time it takes to play through the game - the level design is just right, with fun exploration as the game progresses. Truly feels like a neatly packed horror game wrapped up in a moth-eaten present box. The creator did a marvelous job with the character designs and transitions, intro/outro, marketing and logo, and the music is faultless and appropriate for the time period of the game. The graphics, the color palette and lighting, the pacing, the controls remind me of PS2 in a great way and I think it passes as a decent survival horror game. No discernable glitches via PC. I like that the credits include a wealth of supporters.

[spoiler] Media literacy is necessary to understand the sensitive nature of the horror trope used. Identity as horror shines through, as the main antagonist struggles with internal horror and trauma that turns them into a 'monster.' Many people enjoy this horror trope, myself included, but it being queer-coded trauma is grafted from a decades long problematic theme. The surprise reveal of - forced gender dysphoria turned the antagonist into a mindless killer - is not new by any means (Sleepaway Camp, Silence of the Lambs, etc), but it has continuously painted a historically marginalized, vulnerable, and small population of people as disgusting, shocking, and violent to the average audience. Depending on media literacy experience, this has previously influenced audiences to have negative/fearful views of people who don't fit typical gender roles and lifestyles. The story shifts part of the blame to a mix of drug abuse and body horror through parasitic moth insects (forced transformation, unlike the natural beauty and change of a butterfly, and similar to Silence of the Lambs symbolism). While unnatural change as body horror is awesome, the use of gender dysphoria seems dated and a historically tainted reference to use for an antagonist build. Other than that, the Red Nun redeems aspects of this criticism by being revealed to be the main antagonist, with a strong character design and clearly insane motives ...

Tangent: The way Remothered addresses forced gender change is different than how it is addressed in Rule of Rose, where (spoiler) the main character is also put through a similar problem, experiences and relives the trauma, but grows and works her way through it by the end of the game without turning into a monster - I mention this because both are female survival horror, with Rule of Rose being a classic that addresses this trope in a more empathetic yet shocking way without dehumanizing someone who goes through it. I recommend that game for anyone who enjoyed Remothered. [/spoiler]

Overall, VERY interesting, a bit bitter towards the end and story-wise the motives felt odd, BUT the gameplay was incredibly fun. I'm excited to play the second game, even after reading some negative reviews - I'm open to the experience because the creator clearly put a lot of work and artistry into this game. Очень качественный и целостный проект. Играется на одном дыхании! Интересная история, правильно работающие механики. Понравилось, прошел с удовольствием.

НО! Смотрел прохождения других и, либо мне так повезло, либо я что-то делал не так. При передвижении по дому мне вообще не давали передохнут "ребята", которые там живут, изучать локации было тяжело, постоянно приходилось убегать и прятаться.

Еще немного выбивали из колеи фиксация на элементе и активности, так часто не удавалось укрыться, а на завершающей миссии на чердаке моя попа вообще сгорела, потому что я попросту не мог активировать щиток пока не встал в конкретное место, иначе кнопка активности не срабатывала.

Коротенкая, не успевает надоедать, загадки интересные, сюжет присутствует, а отдают игру, при этом, вообще за копейки. Рекомендую для тех кто любит неторопливые лонгплеи.

Holy-Moly ist die Story extrem geil und zum !Ende! gab ein neues Gefühl für mich obwohl ich es noch nicht so ganz vertanden habe was eigentlich der sinn hinter der letzten cutcene ist!. я, честно, не знаю почему эту игру кто-то недолюбливает. графика? она вышла в 2018, и весит всего 6,5 гигабайт, вы чего ожидаете? сложные головоломки? вы, но конечно не все, сайлент хиллы прейзите, хотя там в тысячу раз хуже.. сюжет????? он идеален.. ну.. почти. для кого-то он может быть запутанным и непонятным, но это по большей части из-за внимательности.
звуковое сопровождение просто прекрасное -- мурашки на коже появляются. да, конечно в игре есть баги, и в этом прохождении я встретил штуки так 4, но какая игра у нас без багов есть? давайте не будем забывать насколько мизерный бюджет был при создании игры, который растянули настолько, что создали настоящий шедевр.
long story short -- я рекомендую эту игру, конечно, всем, но тем кто имеет хоть каплю терпения, чтобы пройти долгую и нудную часть с одним лишь стариком ради продвижения в сюжете, я настаиваю её пройти.

There's a kernel of an interesting game in here, unfortunately it's obscured by incredibly tedious gameplay and absolutely horrendous dialogue. The initial exchange between Mr Felton and the mc was just too much of an exposition dump, which in a game about exploration is a really weird choice. I wanted to experience Clarice's revelations as she explored the mansion, so having the mystery front loaded was weird. Btw, I know she's not called Clarice, but I'm going to be honest, she's a blonde Silence of the Lambs Jodie Foster.

The game itself is just a laborious slog that takes too long to get anywhere. The opening cutscene was unneeded, we could've just started at the van scene and nothing would've been lost. The game never really gets going and when the hideous revelation is made I didn't really care because no time was spent with the characters.
Even after Clarice makes her discovery, the game is a bore. It plays like the starting level of a survival game, an area I should be in for an hour, tops.

Really disappointing, wish I could get a refund.

Скучный, душный и не страшный. Механики - неотполированные от слова совсем. Графика на уровне 2008, а не 2018, в целом как и геймплей. Левел дизайн - в наше время даже чатГПТ справится лучше. Перед тем как запустить саму игру, у меня не было никаких ожиданий в отношении нее, чистый лист

Но вот уже почти 6 часов подряд я провожу за самым скучным геймплеем, который мне только доводилось видеть
Получить удовольствие получилось разве только тогда, когда я показал эту игру товарищам в дискорд,
Знатно посмеялись над лестницей на батарейках, над каблуками главной героини, которые она так упорно не желала снимать всю игру пока бегала от голого деда с серпом стуча ими по полу с такой громкостью, что он распространялся на все поместье

В общем, я изо всех сил старался хоть как то оправдать игру
так как изначально она меня очень заинтриговала, но по итогу оказалась гигантским разочарованием
стоит ли она своих денег?
Если у вас крепкие нервы и вы не боитесь душного геймплея - да, определенно
в игре приятный визуал, достаточно приятная озвучка героев, проработанная мимика, хотя иногда кажется, что разработчики переборщили)

Минусы:
основная вещь которая нужна в хорошем хорроре такого жанра
1) хороший и вариативный дизайн уровней
2) Читаемый пространственный звук
Игрок должен иметь возможность понимать где находится враг даже не видя его,
в игре с этим большие проблемы, вы можете понять справа или слева находится "монстр" но вот на каком из этажей он находится.... не ясно от слова совсем.

LvL дизайн представляет собой 3 этажа практически одинаковых по своей структуре - ОЧЕНЬ длинные коридоры, которые противоречат механике стелса, а так же не способствуют интересным погоням

Личный вердикт
Любите челленджи на несколько часов, и не боитесь долго разбираться с тем, как решить абсолютно нелогичную и противоречащую здравому смыслу загадку - игра вам подойдет как никому другому

Но если вы ожидаете увидеть захватывающую запутанную историю с расследованием и глубоким сюжетом - то вам стоит выбрать что то другое)

Я не вытерпел)
я не говорю о том что эта игра хорошая или плохая,

Remothered: Tormented Fathers sofre do famoso caso "ideia boa, execução ruim", com uma boa ambientação, uma trilha sonora tensa e uma história cheia de mistério e simbolismo. O jogo sofre com bugs constantes, IA inconsistente(os inimigos te enxergam pela parede certas horas ou ficam igual uma barata tonta em certos trechos) e seções de perseguição frustrantes, nas quais não é possível realizar ações-chave se o inimigo estiver por perto (um exemplo seria você tentar usar elevador onde seria apenas entrar nele, o jogo não deixa por você estar sendo perseguido o que te leva a ter que perder um tempo despistando seu perseguidor). Isso quebra completamente o ritmo e transforma momentos de tensão em pura irritação. Apesar de uma narrativa interessante e reviravoltas que prendem a atenção, o design confuso e o polimento precário impedem o jogo de alcançar o potencial que tinha.

Alien Isolation is my favourite horror game of all time, so when I heard this had a similar stalker style antagonist AI, I was intrigued. And yeah, there are shades of that cat and mouse tension here, but it never reaches the same terrifying behaviour that the Xenomorph had. The rough around the edges mechanics mean it sometimes crosses from tense into straight-up frustrating. That said, the atmosphere is great very old-school horror vibes and the narrative is genuinely interesting. It’s the story that ultimately kept me pushing through, even when the gameplay was testing me. Other players have said the same the world and sound design pull you in, and when the game hits, it really hits. It’s just worth noting the story can get a bit convoluted if you don’t keep up with all the notes and lore pieces, and there are some technical hiccups depending on the platform. Still, you don’t see many modern games try to emulate something as intense as Isolation and for that alone, it deserves some respect. Even with the rough patches, it’s worth trying if you want that slow burn horror.

This game is not for the faints of heart. Tension is very high from start to end. This is pure adult horror taking inspiration from movies by Dario Argento and Alfred Hitchcock, and games as Clock Tower and Alien: Isolation. It's the kind of game where fear accompanies your every step, where sometimes you don't dare move from your hiding place and in the end you decide to stop the game promising yourself to try again later. Just as in Alien: Isolation or Visage, the tension is always high making it difficult for you to think clearly, you don't always know precisely what to do, you don't always know what and where to search, you need to perform trials and errors and repeated explorations of the same places. I don't think these are defects, I think they make the game more realistic, more serious, less toy-like and closer to plausible survival experience.

Some reviewers complain that it's not always clear where the sound of footsteps and speech of the chasers is coming from. Well, I invite the reviewers to visit an old and very big abandoned mansion where every single creak or the sound of the wind is amplified and reverberated in all directions, where you can distinguish a whisper even if it comes from another floor and so on. Furthermore, the trick of enhancing and blurring noises and sounds is typical of all horror films; it's an artistic effect that creates the right atmosphere of uncertainty and tension; I really don't understand these complaints. On the contrary, the great sound design, creating such an immersive and effective atmosphere, is to be applauded. Even the original soundtrack is very good and adds to the atmosphere.

It's not only a matter of sound; developers put a lot of effort in the architecture of the mansion, in the design of the ambients and furnitures, in lighting and so on. Very good use of UE4 here. Remothered shows that you don't always need big worlds or many locations to develop a good game. Just like in many movies, sometimes one location is enough. And the Felton mansion is a very haunting and remarkable location.

You can see the different and more adult approach even in details. In Remothered you need to collect very few documents. Many developers make the grave mistake of relying on tons of documents scattered around the game world to reconstruct the story, thus mocking the players' intelligence. It's unclear why people would leave so many documents lying around in the most unlikely places, and why they would write so much, and about things that in reality no one would write! Remothered consciously avoids this gross error; there are very few documents to read, mostly newspaper articles and photos, and they're found in fairly plausible places. And above all, they don't reveal too much of the story, only adding a few clues.
Even puzzles are in keeping with the atmosphere, quite plausible and realistic, and don't clash with the story or ruin the survival experience; a remarkable achievement considering that in most games, the exact opposite happens. It's clear that the developers thought long and hard before designing the gameplay.

Obviously Remothered is not without flaws. As many indie productions, animations and human models are not at the state of art, not comparable to AAA games for sure; however they are not so bad, they are ok, I would say AA.
In my opinion, there's a design flaw: enemies sometimes scrutinize the closet you're hiding in very closely. How can they not notice your presence, and why don't they open the closet to check? Sometimes enemies notice you hiding in the closet; but then why not double-check every time? The smartest thing would have been to prevent the player from hiding in the closet when in the enemy's cone of sight. And once hidden, don't let enemies approach the closet as if they suspect something. These are minor details, but in a game that takes realism very seriously, they're important.
Many reviewers complain about many bugs and flaws. To be honest I didn't find any particular flaw or bug, except the moths! :-) Maybe the game got patched in the meanwhile. Just one friction from time to time: selecting items by orienting the camera is not always smooth. I would like to say that not everything is smooth as expected in AAA games. But it's not true: today AAA games are sold at $80 but are more flawed than this one! :-)

Someone could complain about the unclear story; it's a deliberate choice from developers. Tormented Fathers was meant to be the first episode of a trilogy; everything would have been clear in the last episode, but it was never developed. That's why authors published a graphic novel to explain the dark sides of the unfinished story.
By the way, I'm not so happy about the story. I don't want to spoil the story; just let me say it tastes like Phenomena (Dario Argento) meets Psycho (Hitchcock). Phenomena is a sort of horror fairy tale with a more simple and better plot imo. On the contrary, I think Remothered developers overdid. Story smells a bit of B or even Z movie, not so plausible and not so interesting to be honest. However the use of moths is very effective.

In conclusion, Remothered is one of the scariest "flat" games I ever played. Flat means not VR, VR horror games are the scariest ever imo. Remothered is not for everyone because of very distressing gameplay (not flawed, on purpose), no combat, heavy psychological horror, high tension hide 'n' seek game, very crude horror cut scenes especially in the end.
Absolutely suggested to those who want their stomach tighten with tension and anxiety!

With a heavy heart I'm writing a review of what this game could have been rather than what it is. As such, I don't recommend playing this unless you have some intense curiosity and patience. All of the ingredients for a great game were here: a unique story and cast of characters, an interesting protagonist. A beautifully-crafted setting with great attention to detail. Genuinely chilling atmosphere, and the setpieces and cutscenes were charming and quirky.
I can see what they were aiming for with the gameplay, and it's a brilliant idea: a kind of open-ended horror sandbox of obstacles and puzzles. You explore the mansion and solve puzzles, deal with traps/enemies and unravel the story, all at your own pace.. offering a unique experience. If they had nailed the enemy AI, it could have been a bit like Alien Isolation but in a spooky mansion. And that sounds like solid gold to me.
Sadly though, the gameplay falls flat. The controls are sluggish and unresponsive, movements of the player and enemies are glitchy and unpredictable. Fail states seem to occur randomly through no fault of the player with punishing results, winding back an hour of progress. For half the game I was hiding in a locker praying that the game won't softlock my one save slot.
I still think it's worth playing for the vibes and the cool story. But be prepared: the true horror is lurking within the janky gameplay systems, and few souls will be willing to brave such abominations.

Este juego cuenta con una gran historia y con una ambientacion que genera tension en todo momento, su jugabilidad no es complicada, es facil de manejar, variedad de objetos y documentos, ademas de coleccionables, solo tuve 1 bug en todo el juego, que se soluciono reiniciando el punto de control, tiene una duracion aprox. de 6 a 7 horas, MUY RECOMENDADO.

I absolutely cannot fathom why this game has mostly positive reviews. I had to stop after the first hour because it was all so clunky. The movement and gameplay? Clunky. Animations? Clunky. Pacing? Clunky. Voice acting and writing? You guessed it! Incredibly clunky. I, like a different reviewer thought this was supposed to be "the good one". I generally only write reviews when I recommend a game. But brother. I am so disappointed.

Игра не очень. По началу было интересно, но когда появился враг, сильно задушила меня. Проходить дальше нет интереса, но из геймерского любопытства, возможно в будущем еще поиграю. Пока не рекомендую.

Leider irgendwie verbuggt oder es ist gewollt, dass der Opa gar nicht mehr von einem ablässt. So ist es leider unmöglich, die Story oder die Rätsel zu erkunden, da man dauernd nur wegrennt. Abgebrochen, deinstalliert.

Very solid INDIE clocktower inspired horror game with a interesting/confusing story, tense and scary moments, a good map to get chased by the stalkers in the game, interesting boss-like encounters, and a sequel set up that at least makes me interested in what's next

I'm going to be very fair.

The Good

- What this game does well is it's sound design with a soundtrack that adds to the creepy atmosphere.
- The plot for the game actually is pretty good and a nod to old Italian Giallo films. You play as Rosemary Reed who bites off more than she can chew when she decides to confront Dr. Richard Felton about the mysterious disappearance of his daughter Celeste.
- The twists were good up until the very end, when it becomes a bit convoluted and ends with a bit of a cliff hanger setting up the next game.
- The game is genuinely scary, if you play with headphones on and the lights off at night. I felt really anxious creeping around corners in the mansion to avoid the enemies.
- Cinematic cut scenes
- I did enjoy small details in the game, like Rosemary being poor at running because she's a smoker.

The Bad
- The controls are not the greatest. Why do I need open up my inventory to use pieces to solve puzzles?
- Stalker enemies feel pretty unfair.
- You can't attack enemies but rather just defend yourself with minimal items.
- While the plot is good, the dialogue is often not the best with full info dumps in exposition.
- The final boss fight is extremely aggravating when you literally have to push a cart out of the way mid boss-fight. Seriously, who tf thought that was a good inclusion?
- You don't learn too much about the protagonist because they wanted to set up her backstory for the second game.

The series had a lot of potential and the writer came up with an interesting story and introduced some nice twists that (mostly) made sense. However, deliberately holding Rosemary's backstory for the second game is cheap, the clunky controls in this game and apparently worse controls in its sequel mean I will be skipping the next installment in the series. I'll be interested in what he does next. If you're interested in hidden gem Survival games, play this one. Skip Broken Porcelain and just look up what happens in the story.

Going into this after acquiring it in a Fanatical bundle, I had read about the abject tragedy that was Broken Porcelain, however, was also very assured that this was the “good” one. If this is true, then I absolutely shudder to think of what the sequel is like...

I must also stress that my getting an achievement, and finding a missable note is the only reason I carried on.

[h1][b]Yay:[/b][/h1]

+ The one segment that most people seem to note when talking about the criticisms was one of two parts I enjoyed.

+ [spoiler]The other was walking around the safe, day-lit manor before heading up to the final encounter in the attic was a nice change of pace.[/spoiler]

+ [spoiler]I quite liked the blocked off area of the house.[/spoiler]

+ The game thankfully ends.

[h1][b]Meh:[/b][/h1]

~ [spoiler]The only thing that resembles a boss can be skipped by breaking all of the all the mirrors, I did not know of this prior to thinking the game wanted me to smash all of them, for the first reason given in the negatives. Thus, while the rest of the game makes me think that not having to fight the thing was a blessing, if it was another good aspect, I didn't even know I missed it until after I did.[/spoiler]

[h1][b]Nay (Holy gods above...N A Y):[/b][/h1]

- As opposed to the “find item and figure out how to use it” nature of Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and Clock Tower series, this game is more “wait and find the trigger for an item when we let you use it” .

- This means that even when you can see an item glinting in front of a stair lift in a room the character's head would be hitting the ceiling in, you need to jump though hoops to get a battery for it, have the game allow you to go up, then grab it.

- Another side effect of this is that you only have the items for the next puzzle, with the game having 0 faith in your ability to connect the dots, and mentally sort things by possible use.

- I was able to only barely make it out of the first stalker encounter, due to what felt like luck, and while the [spoiler]light-based gameplay of the second one is clever in-theory, rather than being a cylinder that is isolated to the floor it's on, like Monstrum's Fiend, this is projected to a sphere.[/spoiler]

[spoiler]In other words, this means you have no idea where she is, and me hiding for a time, thinking she was on the same floor as me, only to then pop out, right as she was almost finished climbing the stairs happened over 4 separate times. Does it add to the tension and horror? Maybe to some, but to me, it was simply bad design that was completely unfair to the player.[/spoiler]

- Missable achievement/notes associated with it.

- The only reason the entire game happens is because the protagonist breaks into the house it's set in after being denied entry. My connection, sympathy, and empathy went right out the window then and there.

- Though, the entire plot is a contrived, non-sensible collection of shards brought on by the protagonist having less self-preservation of a Dodo.

[spoiler]The protagonist wanders into the house, looking for news on a medication derived from moths, but the mentally-absent owner, and their nurse throw you out. On literally breaking and entering, as stated above, the exits are sealed with karmic retribution, and the night has changed the owner of the property.[/spoiler]

[spoiler]Once you evade them for a time, and progress, a red-clad hooded figure takes their place, eventually leading you to uncover the fact the wife of the owner is dead, and an area of the residence was blocked off. Breaking into there, you then fall through the floor, into a the basement, only to then escape the resident again, whereupon you find a revelation: said total murderous psychopath began life as a female, was then forcibly transitioned to male, sent off to World War II, and the reason for all their actions was because they still want to be female.[/spoiler]

[spoiler]This, to me, made it seem like whomever was responsible for the game wasn't so much trying to portray gender dysphoria as it is, rather what they thought it was like, and on messaging a male to female friend of mine (Who I was already chatting with for sanity before this reveal), they not only confirmed my sentiment, but made known how derivative it was, listing several other horror that did the exact same plot twist.[/spoiler]

[spoiler]Now literally only continuing to get the rest of the achievements, and put it behind me, the rest of the plot unfolded. The nurse from before re-appears, gives protagonist lady totally-not-drugged cocktail, they drink it unquestioningly, you escape, nurse is revealed to be red lady from before, turns into something else, you blind her, then she flees to the attic. After going up to get the way out, and evading her, only to then dive thought a third storey window, it's revealed the protagonist, and red lady were both part of the team that spent months together making the drug...yet neither recognised the other until then, if memory serves.[/spoiler]

Cue the credits.

- While the derivation, and [spoiler]possible transphobia[/spoiler] were already bad enough, the fact that while all of this is happening, the protagonist keeps her high heels on, as well as that none of the characters do anything even slightly level-headed, and the [spoiler]only male character is a faceless interviewer in the intro[/spoiler], an argument can be made it's also misogynistic.

Call all of this homage if you will, but the fact it can even be interpreted as any of those traits means no favours are being done at all to anyone that worked on this...whatsoever.

[h1][b]Verdict:[/b][/h1]

Simply put, this was a complete failure to me in almost every aspect, being one of the biggest, cringiest, pain-filled slogs of a game I've ever played, and, not-so-fun fact, is what inspired me to make a tier lower than Dourly-Dismissed.

On the plus side, on typing all this out, I can now say the book is fully-closed on this one, and I can move on.

Купил эту игру на распродаже, связкой, что называется, две в одной. В принципе, игра любопытна и играть в неё можно, тем более, что мрачная графика и тревожная музыка создают нужную атмосферу, но голозадый антагонист и механика "убеги-спрячься просто" убивают. Да ещё и главная героиня, начиная прихрамывать после очередного столкновения с дедушкой с серпом, вызывает стойкое желание бросить всё и удалить "не шедевр". В общем, могли сделать и лучше. А главное - непонятно, что делать!

Es un juego de horror, desde luego, pero el horror no reside tanto en temática, ambientación, etc. como en los controles horribles y nada responsivos y en las mecánicas fatal implementadas.
Mira que me gusta de vez en cuando jugar a jueguitos de terror sin muchas pretensiones, pero con este ha sido una lucha constante contra todo lo malo que tiene para poder sacarle un poco de jugo, no merece la pena, si quieres el principal gimmick con el que se publicitaba el juego, busca una recopilación de las muertes y te ahorras pasar por el suplicio que es jugarlo.
