Fun game with solid performance after tweaks and a hardware upgrade. The dx11 launch command fixed most of my stutter issues, but stutters still happen here and there. Redout 2's recommended specs seem kinda low honestly. Playing with an X3D CPU and a current 16 GB GPU at 1440p I get around 90 FPS in career and closer to 144 FPS in arcade with settings at high. Also playable on the Steam Deck, but at med/low settings and 30-40 FPS. This game scratches that Wipeout itch pretty well.

The game feels really fast and the vehicle is feels good to control with the dual stick. The strafing, tilting and boosting is fun. Tracks are flashy and colourful. I'm not loving the music but it does the job in the background. Nice arcade racer.

結構賛否両論なレビューがあったが、個人的には前作より操作が複雑になって面白い。
いろんなコースも水中だとジャンプ中の挙動などが異なるので、前作と比べると集中力とスリルが増加したように思う。
あとはやっぱ[h1]マシンがローポリじゃなくなって重厚感ある見た目になってる！[/h1]これが個人的に最高。
強いて言えば…これは願望になってしまうけど、レース中の音楽をこちらの任意の曲とかにできたら嬉しいな。他社ゲームのGRIPとかはそれができるので

I remember Quantum Redshift on the original Xbox, and Wipeout was awful on PS1 back in the day. Well Redout 2 blows both games out of the competition. Its very fast and the gameplay is solid. Sure its fantasy racing, no other racing title allows you to feel like your on a rollercoaster ride like this one.

In my racing games, I like turning to actually turn the vehicle when I turn. Not rotate it slightly while it slides along in the same direction while thinking about the concept of turning. Also the female voice giving incredibly cliched backstories on ever track (that are total visual nonsense) as if I care about the checklist of sci-fi tropes about muh water warz or whatever in the arcade racing game is insufferable. And I don't know if the game only ever played me one track from the soundtrack, or if all "electronic" """music""" sounds the same, but got damn does this soundtrack suck noodles.

I also had some slight, but incredibly noticeable when trying to turn at 900 MPH, stuttering at times until I could get in the options and turn the settings down from their "Epic" (r*ddit ass game) defaults.

This is peak anti-gravity racing. The themed tracks, the flow, the visuals, the music, they are all synced. It's a fast, intense experience. The addition of the boost mechanic and (biggest of all) implementation of twin-stick steering has skyrocketed Redout 2 to my top spot in this genre. However, this game does have its faults. The linear progression of the campaign feels more like a grind. The unlock order and slow part access really make the game feel less like "improve your build and style" and more like "keep grinding"

If you're looking for a challenging but fun racing experience I 100% recommend this game to you. The learning curve is a bit harsh but it's also definitely worth it to get good at this game.

Only downside is if you have ADHD like myself you'll start to see racing lines irl, ESPECIALLY if you have a car of your own.

If Redout was a fun time, Redout 2 will also be a fun time.
If you haven't tried Redout, how do I say.
- The control is like for a 6-DOF spaceship. It works with the game. It's fun.
- It goes fast and going through corners smoothly feels great.
- Just having the ship running along the tracks feels good.

Just two things I dislike:
- Later in Career mode [b]the lap amount increases to 4[/b]. I use to clear just one event and get exhausted. 15 minutes in average, is a long time to continuously keep yourself alerted of everything outside the ship.
- Just like it was in the previous game, [b]ANYTHING outside of the track will end your ship on the gentlest contact[/b]. And there's Arena Race which instantly ends as soon as your ship explodes. I was pissed off at this and decreased the difficulty to the lowest. If I have to deal with instakill stuff, I want to do it with less of other concerns going on at the same time.

In a fewer words, the game gets exhausting.

Other than that. Not much to complain. Some would say Career mode goes repetitive with small amount of tracks. But take it this way, you are going to need to play the same tracks at least that much frequently to have the layout in your muscle memory. Also just running along itself feels good. Whether it be the same track or not, the fun is still there.

Одна из лучших и динамичных представителей аркадных гоночных игр (по моему мнению)!
Резкий набор запредельных скоростей выше 6000 km/h передаётся идеально! Автоматически сам вдавливаешься в спинку кресла, и иногда падаешь на пол.
По оптимизации проблем не наблюдалось. Даже когда километры трасс и строений проносятся мимо кратно секундам, ФПС не желает начинать падать, скакать и держится в промежутке 50 единиц от стабильных (1000-1200 зависит от трассы) независимо от происходящего.
По итогу оставляю оценку 8.5/10. Хотелось бы видеть немного больше кастомизации и в целом наличие мастерской ;3

Redout 2 é outro jogo pertencente às pérolas do gênero anti gravidade. A sequência agora é ainda mais rápida, as pistas são maiores, e as corridas muito mais frenéticas.

Eu poderia abrir a análise dizendo que esse jogo é uma sequência espiritual ao F-Zero mas isso seria uma mentira, Redout 2 toma liberdade na sua própria filosofia de design e faz algo muito mais original, esse jogo representa uma evolução do gênero ao invés de uma mera sequência.

O gameplay recebeu melhorias em comparação ao antecessor, as naves agora respondem melhor aos comandos e não tem aquele efeito de "deslizar" sobre a pista, cada movimento no controle se traduz de maneira precisa pro jogo garantindo que você nunca perca controle no ritmo absurdo do gameplay.

Cada pista foi pensada pra acomodar os controles melhorados, toda curva, reta e momento em queda livre foram feitos de tal maneira que ofereçam desafio pro jogador menos experiente mas ainda possam ser dominadas com um pouco de prática. Cada evento faz diferença, tanto pra competir, quanto pra aprender o design das pistas.

Em termos audiovisuais o jogo dispensa apresentações, gráficos ótimos e bem trabalhados (apesar de alguns backgrounds terem poucos detalhes), bons efeitos visuais, sound design absurdo e uma ótima trilha sonora.

Redout 2 merecia mais atenção, uma pena que o gênero de anti gravidade seja tão nichado. Recomendo fortemente a compra.

If i can describe this game in One Phrase...
Its Pure, F- Speed.

Its not a joke when people say that this is one of the fastest racing games out there yet.
Not for the faint of heart, but if you love going above 3000 km/h on a racetrack while avoiding walls, well, this game is for you.
Its controls are simple to learn, but ships and tracks are hard to master.
Oh, and you can customize your ship, from how it looks to how it peforms.

Первый и выдающийся опыт в гоночных играх, хотел нечто необычное, чем просто машинку на колёсах, удивлён имеющимся механикам с упором на гравитационные технологии.

[b]Геймплей[/b] - 10 из 10
Большое количество гоночных трасс распределённых по “лигам” - структурной составляющей из множества заданий, длящихся короткими заходами в среднем по ±2 минутки. По мере прохождения этих лиг будут открываться новые корабли, предметы кастомизации и модификации, за счёт которых можно улучшать характеристики корабля. Соответственно, есть интервал мощности в установленных модификациях на трассу, что не допускает чрезмерного отставания или жульничества перед ботами. Учитывая, что это не просто автомобили, а корабли на гравитационных технологиях, в игре будет нарастать механика применения манёвров в свободном полёте, приземлений, вращения вокруг своей оси и даже перемотку времени, оставляя постоянную динамичность, не смотря на короткие заходы. Используются различные погодные условия характерные для мест проведения гонок, если это недра - угроза чрезмерного повышения температуры, гидросфера же наоборот более лояльна, снижая температуру, что даёт больший размах для ускорений. Есть выбор набора сложностей в настройках, что делает игру приятней для казуального или экстремальней для любителей острых ощущений геймплея.

[b]Онлайн[/b] - 5 из 10 (недостаточно данных для полной оценки)
Отдельный режим с игроками, где можно выбрать любой корабль с равными для всех предустановленными модификациями, что положительно говорит об упоре именно на опыт игроков. Игре явно не хватает актива, долго ждал формирования сессии, по итогу присоединился всего один человек и сразу вышел, поправлю данный параметр, повлиявший на итоговую оценку, если смогу попасть в сессию, всё бы ничего, но есть достижения подвязанные к онлайн активностям. Можно пригласить друга непосредственно из Steam и связать игру аккаунтом из Epic Games.

[b]Стилизация и концепт[/b] - 10 из 10
Игра интересно раскрывается через комментарии рассказчицы, фигурируя вокруг тематики технологического прорыва и будущего. Мы как авантюрист подчиняющий гравитацию проходим через события, преобразившие Землю, что проявимо в виде тематических карт на мотив известных городов. Преобладание гравитационных магистралей создают свою уникальную атмосферу и среду, которая непосредственно влияет на играемые сессии. Игра отлично проработана, не ограничиваясь просто желанием создать очередную гонку, а сочетает нотки уникальных реализаций.

[b]Управление[/b] - 8 из 10
Клавиатура и мышь - на пк вполне играбельно на клавиатуре, но поддержка мыши отсутствует даже в интерфейсе, а использование дополнительных клавиш вроде оборота камеры назад, перемотки времени скорее только усложнит игровой процесс, учитывая что задействованы awsd для движения, стрелочки для тангажа, пробел для гиперускорения. Сразу видно, что игра делалась с упором на геймпады. Можно переназначить все игровые клавиши.
Геймпад(конфигурация Xbox) Flydigi Direwolf 3 – значительно удобней, по сравнению с пк версией, для гонок это вполне характерный аспект, я полагаю. Движение, ускорение и тангаж регулировать значительно удобней на стиках и курках, ABXY в основном используются в интерфейсе, за исключением перемотки времени. Также можно переназначить все игровые клавиши.
Также хочу отметить возможность смены режима камеры - от первого лица, близко к кораблю и отдалённо от корабля, каждый режим имеет свои преимущества и интерес попробовать сыграть.

[b]Локализация[/b] - 9 из 10
Все необходимые для понимания аспекты игры и повествования хорошо переведены в субтитрах. Озвучки на русский, к сожалению, нет.

[b]Звуковое сопровождение[/b] - 10 из 10
Динамичное, с умеренной интенсивностью музыкальное сопровождение как в интерфейсе, так непосредственно в самих заездах. Звуки хорошо подстраиваются под играемую среду, если брать погружение в воду - ощущение приглушения на глубину, при ускорении – замедление проигрываемого сопровождения. Имеется разнообразие под играемую карту. Окружение задаёт большее погружение в стилистику будущего.

[b]Краткий итог[/b] - Интересный представитель гоночного жанра на тематику гравитационных технологий, предпочтительней играть с геймпадом.

The game is missing AI speed options for Arcade "Quickplay" races, the AI are only given the arcade presets of 1000-1100. Sometimes, I don't want to race at the fastest speed. And, the game also doesn't want you to do so, seeing as speeder capability ranges from 184 to ~1100.

Outside of that and the inconsistent flying at slower speeds, the game is quite fun and feels like an overall improvement on the gameplay from Redout 1. The music is a noticeable improvement from Redout 1 with practically no tracks that I disliked. The sound design is peak and gives me extreme neuron activation when I hit a drift while stacking boosts. Visuals have been upgraded to eye candy levels and the environments have been upgraded in a similar fashion. Review recommendation will be updated to positive once the Arcade "Quickplay" races are feature complete.

I've enjoyed this game immensely better than the original Redout which felt far too "floaty" for my liking.

Redout II feels nicer to play in every respect and I love the new boost mechanics.

This is hands down my favorite AG Wipeout-inspired racing game on Steam so far, (the runner up being BallisticNG which is also amazing), I've only gotten a few hours into the campaign and I love everything I've seen so far.

Only complaint is that a few of the maps are very visually busy or have sun glares that make it difficult to see where the track is leading which often results in crashing the vehicle but its not so bad once I've gotten more used to the track. Probably a skill issue on my part.

I hope this game sees more development and grows the playerbase more. I'm so happy I decided to give this game a chance despite the bad launch week reviews because I was disappointed with the original game and Redout II seems to have fixed all of the things I disliked about the first game.

aerial stuff is somehow worse to the point that the devs seemingly acknowledged it by adding a rewind button. a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rewind button. in a racing game. ridiculous.

In short, a substantial downgrade from the first game.
Pros:
- I appreciate the game being sufficiently different from the first to justify a separate release instead of a DLC.
- The late-game AI becomes quite challenging.
- The upgrade system is gear-score inspired (think Forza) which adds nuances to builds.

Cons:
- The campaign blatantly wastes your time. The same tracks are repeated multiple times in the same ship-class and same event-type.
- Ships have a lot more grip, which makes for a more shallow driving experience than the first game.
- To balance out the increased grip, the AI is a lot faster. Touching walls is a death sentence (not to your health, but to your speed). Boost timing/management is much more important. You are expected to memorize the tracks if you want to progress.
- Barely any track variety. There are effectively 9 tracks. Each track has 3 variations, but they feel largely the same, as they share the same environment and base-track.

A blazing fast and complex racer that manages to honor RO1 legacy while being distinct from it, plays wonderfully in hour-ish bursts if you can roll along with the oddities on its difficulty tuning.

[h2] Full rundown[/h2]
The race faster than ever promise that the OG delivered is still very much in effect, the game delivers an adrenaline rush and demands you to keep locked in even when you happen to be safely ahead of the pack, which is usually the main weaknesses of racing games.

With the addition of air roll controls, ship control got a bit more complex compared to RO1, and lowkey doesn't fit properly on the gamepad anymore if you have the standard amount of thumbs, with one of the air handling axis (steer in my case) usually ending up on the d-pad. There's assists to help if you're so inclined and it will become intuitive in its due time, but until there Tartarus-Ixion won't be a fun sight.

Boost is not only an improvement from 1, it's a work of art.
Two boosts to work with, regular one which can be held is available at all times, and a tap to activate Hyperboost on regular cooldowns, both can be used at once for the most zoom-per-buck, any form of boosting will increase your ships heat which scales with the boost strength, once that meter is full the heat will start to eat at your ships health.
Release the boost and the heat meter will start to decrease immediately, but the health regen will only kick in after 5s of not receiving any damage from overheat or collisions, which at the speeds you will be going is not something to take for granted.

Result is the boost patterns of RO1 on a wonderful risk-reward system where your ship is very sturdy if you boost conservatively, and a tin-foil with a dream when going at full tilt, so the knife-edge scales smoothly as your skill level grows and the times get smaller.

The ship selection and upgrade system is complex but not really.
12 ship brands with their own traits, upgradable with 6 different parts, for 6 different stats which dictates your top speed, cornering, boost strength, health pool... But as your upgrade options increase the ships original stat line importance shrinks, so while I was thankful for Conqueror and Akhal's arrival, on late-game the ships brands are almost cosmetic unless you are squeezing your very last bits of pace (which to be fair, is not uncommon due the difficulty quirks, but more on that later)

More notably and odd, is that the ship builds doesn't seem to change much, Neo Tokyo and Cloud Ocean are basically Monaco and Monza yet the stat lines featured at their leaderboards share a lot, with some parts being like the PSLN having a clear edge, I often try to tweak my setting for a location just to end up with the preset of another.

The track locations are beautiful and have their own types and tricks that can affect your ship handling, with the technical routes being even tighter than ol' RO1 Sequoia, so having a ship that can corner counts a lot more here.
However while the philosophy of each is very distinct per location, per route not so much, all 3 tracks of a location share the same starting line and having fair bit of overlapping, which can feel samey at times and cause you to zig instead of zag because you mistook the route you were in.
Blind corners are a prevalent issue which the game thankfully acknowledges, giving rally-like pace notes to help out with the track learning, and you can turn them off independently of the HUD once you don't need/like them anymore. (Or if you do want them, but not the HUD for optimal Cloud Ocean vibes)

Career as mentioned, can drag a bit, specially on A class where the game seems to be trying to make sure you're up to speed before handing you the big guns of S league, the event unlock requirements are lenient all the way to the very last SRRL events, so feel free to skip when a long race at Tartarus shows up yet again, and if a extra trophy or event starts to smell of BS, do skip it because sometimes it actually is (more one that still later)

OST selection features some great tracks, but the dynamic mixing don't always stick the landing.
My impression is that they tried to one-up RO1 and ended up with loop slices too thin, the very last events of the game feature 3lap boss runs, that was almost 18mins of Tartarus with a 3min music, [i]before any cuts[/i], stubbornly refusing to give way to the next track. You might want to run your own music separately there, even if it's RO2's own OST, which is a shame because the effect when you jump is genuinely nice.

[h3]The GitGud elephant in the room[/h3]

Questionable decisions were made.
Qualifications don't change time regardless of difficulty, so the statements "I can win a race on the last difficulty" and "I can't score a pole even on baby-mode" [i]can both be true at once[/i], you'd think this a oversight that has to be reported to the devs, but that's the neat part, it already has.
An A league pole time was almost 7s faster back in June-22 compared to now Nov-25 (1:53.8) vs (2:00.4)

Putting this on charitable words as a Redout fan, it's likely a device to ensure you still have things to strive for and can't get complacent after you've been able to complete the game since the times line up neatly with the last difficulty
Putting this on un-charitable words of a design PoV, it's counter-intuitive and tone-deaf, mixing up the wires and giving a difficulty wall for people that just wanted to chill while being chill with the people that asked for a punishing game
Putting this on words of Tazuna UmaMusume, "I know you meant well, your heart is always in the right place... But your heeeead Director, what were you thinking?!"

Thankfully they are extras so at most you'll be missing out on a fancy wing and a couple achievements right? [i]Not quite.[/i] Speed and Time trials have only 3 result tables for the 6 difficulties, with the last 4 sharing the same table.

It is more lenient than qualifications but the issue remains, on normal (Pilot) you need to squeeze 2.56s more pace from your race times to be able to score a gold, while on nightmare where the challenge should be at its peak, getting gold is trivial since your race pace is already 2.27s faster than you'll need. (Source: Neo Shinagawa - Arcade 1lap vs Class S In Utopia time)
On the optional challenges, like the one which gives you the STRM module, it became a 6.7s pace improvement for a Nightmare player, while the Zero difficulty player gets a comical 13.8s improvement request. Across Neo Shinagawa's ~80s lap, its wild.

I do have to note, all these times [b]are doable[/b], even I scored a fair bunch of them, and my hunch is that it's designed this way so you not only progress the career ladder, but the difficulty one as well, through the time trials "Redout pace", to qualifications "Nightmare pace", and lastly to extra trials and platinum raising you up to "Online pace".
But this approach lets everyone down, it placed unnecessary walls for the people that just wanted to have fun, and the resulting backlash caused nerfs affecting veterans that wanted the challenge.

[b]In conclusion:[/b]
The game had big shoes to fill, and it successfully did so
The implementation of the default AP/TB combo in the core of the game is genuinely amazing, making a drive that always feels amazing even when you are circling back to easier events/locations, the track overlap makes them sometimes feel like a stepdown from 1 but that doesn't detract from the experience, they're still fun to drive on, I just wish the difficulty settings actually did what they tell you properly, so I could fully recommend without needing a warning disclaimer.

Ist ein spaßiger Racer!

Es fühlt sich auch im Vergleich zum ersten Teil (den ich noch nicht so lang gespielt habe, 2 h)
Definitiv wertiger in der Handhabung an.

Allerdings ist es eine etwas längere Lernkurve, bis man die „Stunts“ drauf hat, ohne aus der Strecke zu fallen.

Dennoch finde ich, ist es eine erfrischende Abwechslung, dass man mehr nachdenken muss im Gameplay als bei anderen Racern. Man nutzt nämlich nicht nur den linken Stick zum Fahren, sondern auch den rechten fürs Strafing. Aber hat man es einmal drauf (ohne KI), dann macht das echt Fun. Vor allem wenn man die Strecken irgendwann drauf hat.

Das Einzige, was mir persönlich negativ aufgefallen ist: Die Musik ist tatsächlich ziemlich lame im Vergleich zum ersten Teil. Einfach zu viel „Bum Bum“. (Im ersten Teil sind definitiv bessere Songs.)

Und wenn man im SRRL ist, muss man 4 Runden statt 2 oder 3 Runden fahren. Da muss ich ehrlicherweise sagen: Das ist mir mit 4 Runden einfach zu viel. Deswegen komme ich nur schleppend voran im SRRL. Ne Bossstrecke ist dann halt 6 Runden lang, wenn man alle Strecken als einzelne Runde nimmt. Das ist schon hart.

Die Custom-Einstellungen der Schiffe? (wie nennt man die Autos hier?)

Sind auch ehrlich gesagt jetzt nicht das größte i-Tüpfelchen. Es ist nett, aber echt wenig an Änderung, wenn man ehrlich ist. Aber hey, sie haben unfassbar viele Farben und Muster.

Ich mag auch, dass wir verschiedene Power-ups haben, um so das Schiff (ich nenn es jetzt Schiff) einzustellen. So fahren sich die Gefährten alle anders, je nachdem, welche Power-Ups man nimmt.

Die Strecken sind auch alle ganz interessant, auch wenn ich Neo-Tokyo aufgrund der tausend engen Kurven absolut verabscheue. Und einige, vor allem die DLC-Strecken, sind mir auch echt zu lang, teilweise. Ist ja alles gut und schön, aber ein bisschen kürzere Strecken tun es manchmal auch.

Es wäre auch nett gewesen, wenn sie wie im ersten Teil mehr Minispiele gehabt hätten, wie im ersten mit dem Ausweichen oder so.

Aber alles in allem ein sehr solides Spiel fürs Zwischendurchspielen. Sehr nice.

Redout 2 dares to ask the question, "Can a racing game be *too* fast?" And the answer to that will fully depend on the player for this one.

Not every inch of every track needs to be memorized to complete the campaign, but hooo boy will you be using the rewind button if you don't know where the tricky corners are.

The sequal cleaned up alot of the less useful "fluff" of the first game, and the ship and level designs are off-the-charts cool. It's a great pickup if you're done with the first and want more content, but know that this one is well faster and maybe so fast that you'll be hitting the reset button more than you're used to. Still a great game - no hesitation on the recommend.

Redout 2 is to this day the best anti-gravity racing game on the market.
After Wipeout Omega and Redout 1, I came to appreciate the game after about 40 hours and am amazed every time at how brilliantly the ships handle. The skill ceiling is very high and it takes a lot of time to be able to drive quickly and safely. I recommend it for all hardcore anti-gravity players.

I have mixed feelings about this game, due this game having made some steps forward, but also seeming to make some bad design choices. I am also a fan of the previous edition of this series. The game itself is decent enough. Like the previous version, this game is meant for the speeddemons who like to control a vehicle at lightning fast speeds.

Fans of the previous version will probably be dissapointed with this game in the redout series, as the racing in this game, is more like a complete different approach from Redout 1 instead of of an evolution or a revolution. Mistakes in general, are less punished, due to more durability, wider tracks. The quick race/arcade (solo mode) is quite botched up due to having only one leaderboard rank for all kinds of vehicles. The game is now made more for casual players, instead of people who want a challenge.

==The Good==
* Introduction of the temperature mechanic, along with the overheating mechanic. Gravity and atmosphere density (including water) where already the previous version. Some section with high temperature are probably able to inflict damage to the vehicle which is operation beyond the temperature limit.
* Higher topsteep from the get-go. Starting vehichle are able to reach higher topspeed from the start. Fully upgraded vehicles are probably even faster than class 4 from the previous edition.
* Rolling mechanic when jumping. You sometimes have to roll the vehichle in order to have smooth landing on the next section of track, else you have a bad landing or you even crash the vehichle, despite reaching the next section of track. This can make some jumps more difficult.
* Vehichles can be further finetuned, instead of buying upgrades which only upgrade a certain aspects and consists of only 4 upgrades per vehichle. There are 12 brands, which is an increase from the previous version. The looks are also now fully customizable for each vehicle. There is however no longer a customable passive upgrade and an active upgrade to choose from, compared to the previous version, adapt from the upgrades themselves.
* The tracks in general are still good and like the previous version, a visual spectacle to look at.

==The Bad==
* Bland music. Somehow, the music is quite forgettable despite known videogame composers have been working on this game.
* Durability in this game is mostly used for having more boost time, instead of being able to survive contant with the barriers or other vehichles. As such, you have to push it to the extremes to crash a vehicle due to bad steering, even after boosting and pushing the ship in the danger zone, you have fly about 10-15 secondsmostly clean, in order to start the swift repair cycle, which reapirs the ship in about 10 seconds completely for free.
* The game is less difficult also due to wider tracks in general, thus requiring less precision and it has rewind time feature for career and arcade races. This sounds good, but the reward for performing well is much more diminished.
* You have to go through the whole career mode in order to get access to the best parts. In the previous version, you had acesss to the best class from the start in the quick race mode. Now for both career and solo mode, you still have to plow through the whole career mode. Money is gone, thus you can't save cash to get a fast vehicle quickly available.
* Abolishment of the class system. Despite being good, due to performance brackets, it completely botches the time attack mode in solo, due to being able to set only one time on the leaderboard. Its the same for the speed mode. Also, you can no longer select the amount of laps for time attack. Speed is now limited to a time limit of 180 seconds. No longer being able to select laps.
* Race mode in the arcade version has no selection of competitor vehicle performance. If you select a slow vehicle, (200-300 points) your opponents will have >1000 performance points ships. You practically lose at the start of the race.
* Less game modes to choose from. Previous modes such as instagib (race two or more laps nearly almost completely clean to set a good time and survive) survival (race unti l the vehicle runs out of durability or time and gain points for every circuit section past) and endurance (gaining points in a long race) are gone from this game.
* The ship, despite having upgrades, seem less unique now.
* Customising colour schemes and livery is now more of a hassle. In the previous version, both could be adjusted in the same menu. Now you have to switch menus to adjust on the two. Still not sastified with the look of the vehicle? Back to the other menu.

==Bugs and stability==
Game performs well and rarily crashes on Windows 11. The game should be played on a pc which is able to perform better than the minimum or matches or even exceeds the recommended requirements.

I really tried to get into this game (I loved the first one), but I just couldn't. I just found it incredibly frustrating, I just kept playing it out of stubbornness. Still haven't done the last 3 races, they need 60 more stars to unlock them and I don't feel like getting them.

I found it much, _much_ more difficult than the original -it was easy to lap the AIs on Redout difficulty there eventually, at the end of the game after getting better- here pilot was quite challenging, and even with the time trials being made easier I still haven't gotten the STRM upgrade.

That's another thing I really didn't like, how upgrades are unlocked, instead of choosing what you want you can get it from specific races, for example the PSCO upgrade that AI very often uses is locked after the halfway point of the final league if I recall correctly. I'm not saying it would've made a difference, but I wanted to try it, but no, you have to play that late to get it. Even in earlier leagues I remember the AI having upgrades sometimes a tier above what was available to you.

Not that I enjoyed the buildcraft either. I don't want a pseudo-rpg (OK that's a bit hyperbolic, I admit), I just want to pick one or two things that do distinct stuff and go, not quibble about trade-offs.

It probably follows from the difficulty discussion, I didn't like the tracks either. More over, they were not memorable at all e.g. black hole was just annoying.

Finally, the soundtrack... was it even there? I don't remember a single track.

I guess if you liked the first game but found it too easy, the handling is different but tighter here(and probably this has higher skill ceiling?), or if you want to git good this would be a nice challenge. Also, if you think your ship is laggy, try disabling, I think VRR? The thing that tries to fight tearing, you might see a difference.

Oh, one thing I forgot to mention is that races are too long, 8 minutes on a single race is way way too long, maybe OK for boss tracks (i.e. to be done sparingly) but in SSRL pretty much every race-against-opponents must be about that length.

F-Zero with drifting and lots of eye candy. Looks great and feels great.

There are a few tracks that don't feel great to play, especially if you crave pure and utter speed. 90% of tracks are fantastic, despite the few that aren't.
It does really suck if you're looking to have a custom ship, you can't unlock any of them (except the first one) right away. Not the most thought out part of the game, in terms of customization and preference.
In other words, you have to do a majority of the campaign to get all of the parts, skins, and upgrades for your ship. you also have to spend a considerable amount of time to unlock every ship (let alone, to test it out to see if you like it, at least the stock versions anyways. the arcade ships are all unlocked, but you cannot customize them to your liking, even with skins).

Even after saying all of this, the game is an 8/10 from gameplay alone. Learning the technique to haul ass around a certain set of turns juuuust right feels exhilarating. boosting and managing heat/ship health has never felt this good. sense of speed warranting a cure. an addiction considered dangerous in comparison to cigarettes.

If you enjoyed Wip3out back in the days, this is for you. Similar to its predecessor, but on a somewhat beefier yet aging build or corporate laptop, it runs real nice, plays great and will cure boredom at home as well as on a business trip to remote and boring locations.

Get both, signal that we want more of this, and start playing online! These games deserve more concurrent users...... :S

手感赛道方面的问题其实不严重，严重的是试听方面没有和游戏配合好。首先是音乐问题，实际上音乐本身质量并不差，风格相比一代更像是传统原教旨主义电子乐，但是这种偏学院派的电子不适合加到音效丰富的游戏中，因为它轻薄的声场很容易被音效掩盖，导致只能听到鼓点，要解决这个问题必须更改混音方式或者直接增加弦乐等来避开同频干扰。其次是画面，动态模糊太弱了，导致速度感不如一代，调成近视角也偏高，按理来说赛道变窄了速度感应该更高才对，同时视角太过稳定，缺乏fov变化的动态感。希望制作组解决以上两个问题

After 9 hours I'm just starting to get the full scope of the controls. This game makes full use of your controller and can be hard to master. Once you get that down, it's incredibly fun to play. Ship designs are cool and customizable, and levels feel like a roller coaster ride. The sense of speed is awesome. I haven't heard any music tracks that really stuck with me but the music does set the mood nicely. The graphics are pretty damn nice looking too.

Besides the learning curve the game is VERY fun to play. Solid 8/10 for me.

I am a racing game connoisseur and aside from F-Zero GX this is the best futuristic racing game I have ever played. Do yourself a favor and by this if you are a fan of the genre.

Как по мне незаслуженно забытая гоночная игра. Здесь есть все что можно ждать от гонок: красивые трассы, высокие скорости и необходимость оттачивать каждый трек (приходит само).
К плюсам можно отнести:
Хорошая графика
Приятное управление, которое легко освоить (по началу будет сложно привыкнуть)
Разнообразие треков
Разнообразие гоночной техники
Отличный саундтрек
Гибкая настройка вашей гоночной техники
Минусы же более мощные:
Есть баги, на пример если цеплять стены можно начать дико крутиться
С обновлением поведения гоночной техники некоторые испытания в обучении стали непроходимы на золото
Если хотите закрыть все звездочки то придется заниматься бэктрекингом (~1500 звездочек)
В карьере соревнования начинают приедаться
В общем и целом игра отличная, но очень не популярна что жалко. Скорее всего она вышла тогда, когда уже гонки никому не сдались, а еще есть вероятность что игра отпугнула управлением т.к. надо использовать 2 стика.
