It can be considered a small-scale roguelite project. There aren’t any major issues—everything works as it should. It would’ve been even better if there were a more casual, easier mode. Since permanent upgrades are very limited, progression can be time-consuming. Those looking for a challenge might want to give it a try on sale.

Cool little game. When you die you go back to the start, but some upgrades are permanent and remain. The levels are randomly generated so even when you go back it doesn't feel like doing the exact same thing again. I assume that most people won't spend much more than several hours on the game, but it's priced accordingly.

Also the game plays well at 21:9 resolutions, good job devs!

tips：全成就有关需要购买物品的成就
可以直接在家中购买药水或者钥匙，同样可以解锁成就

The beginning just doesn't look promising at all and he progress seems to be too slow, while it's not really comfortable to start with, there isn't even an autocast for the only (ranged) attack that you get at the beginning besides the cooldown/resource based attack you also have.
The UI isn't intuitive, for example Escape button doesn't close other menus but instead just opens the main one, the map can't be transparent so it's not too comfortable to walk with it and there's no minimap.

I actually only played for around 4 hours. The others were for the cards years ago. THe game is overall an okay game. Basic twin stick shooter. Some bosses are just junk. Example there is a boss called Rognar? i think and if you do not attack the stupid rocks that drop the enemy only takes 1 DAMAGE PER HIT!!! and has like at "Heck" difficulty they have probably like 1 million HP. There is nothing to tell you this. This is also the same for one boss swamp thing? you have to burst the bubbles when they are near them. That is my only gripes with the game is that there is no way to know these things.

Would still recommend the game.

Razenroth is yet another of literally hundreds of lazy amateur 2D retro top-down shooter/brawlers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. This one does have a little depth as it has some lightweight RPG elements, inventory stuff, upgrades and so on, but that effort was wasted on a very middling to poor technical implementation.

Unwisely, the developers decided to steal the copyrighted monster design of Beholders from the D&D universe, and these critters unfortunately are not "free" for anyone to use, just as you can't steal the likeness of Donald Duck (try it and see how fast Disney comes for you), you can't steal the likeness of copyrighted creates from Wizards of the Coast. So this game is at risk of a DMCA takedown at the very least... as always I can't suggest gamers should risk there money when copyright infringement is involved.

One important note is that even though this is an amateur project, it does seem to be sincerely and genuinely made. I couldn't find any flipped assets, plagiarism or any other kind of insincere actions from the developer (with the exception of the probable ignorance of their copyright infringement), but unfortunately genuine intentions alone are not enough to produce a brilliant PC gaming experience.

On the upside, the game does feature customisable controls and resolution, so at least some of the basic, minimum requirements have been met. Unfortunately there's a number of other technical defects and shortcomings which contribute to the game being difficult to recommend to gamers.

The artwork here is terrible, it's a hodge-podge of amateurish "My First Wacom Tablet" style drawings used instead professional looking game assets. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget to arrange someone who can create graphical assets properly, or lack of talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low, enough on its own to deter gamers.

While there are options to change the resolution for the game, all this does is scale up the simplistic 2D art assets used to make the game, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. Without any other substantial graphics tweaks, it's not possible for gamers to improve the lacklustre 2D visuals.

The game features no proper level design or game/story flow/plot, as they opted to try to use samey repetitive procgen algorithms as a substitute for adding such content to the game, to avoid doing the important job of level/map design. As a result, the game doesn't actually have any content worth mentioning, just endless, boring, repetitive, soulless algorithmically generated sameyness. Developers must learn that procedural generation is not an acceptable substitute for content.

These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.

Razenroth didn't appeal much to the people who own a copy of the game, either. It has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game didn't really capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for destroying 50 objects, trivial to get, but less than 19 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. Hardly a success story, gamers just weren't all that interested in the game.

Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this only happened once, and isn't consistent with the achievement stats, that show less than 19 percent of players bothered playing the game for any reasonable amount of time. How is it possible for this game to have so many concurrent players who didn't bother engaging with this game? Trading cards. People will use card idling software to collect the cards and sell them, but this won't trigger any achievements in-game.

That tells us people only really bought this game for trading cards, and that's a damning indictment of the woeful quality. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with little merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards.

So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam?

Razenroth has the comically over-optimistic price of around $5 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam. For comparison, the $5 asking price for this game could get you games like "Payday 2", "Fallout 4" or "Civilization VI". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this.

I am 32 years old.

My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old.

When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing.

Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side.

With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay.

After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like.

Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends.

Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together.

Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that.

好游戏，可惜数值平衡一坨屎。前期基本没有回血手段，越前面越难滚雪球，必须拿到特定几个道具才能平稳度过前期。而且boss的特效判定也是一坨屎，机制也不写清楚，莫名其妙就掉了一堆血挂了。金币抠抠索索的，打半天怪掉几个金币，第一关出了商店一个道具也要20+，你身上几个金币够买个屁，进第二关等死吧。那个印记可以换金币，后期缓解金币需求，问题是能不能买的时候直接抵扣？我特么还要跑回基地现场换，不能提前换，因为你可能换完还没买就死了，白浪费印记。
一股小家子气，明明容量就小，细节上还扣扣索索的，我解锁了所有工作台，击败了全部12种BOSS，通关了全部难度，居然没遇到一个凤凰祭坛，老子全通了还有个凤凰角色没解锁，你TM逗我玩？金苹果就遇到一次，通关十几次，只见到4次任务，5次任务的成就都没刷完，制作人你是缺心眼吧。

Additional notes: I hesitated giving it a D, but that would make it a thumbs down... and I don't think the game is bad. Just between mediocre and okay. Nothing for me to feast on, but many new/young players might enjoy this very indie/low budget top down shooter with bullet hell mechanisms, lovecraft ambience and amateurish drawings.

A low-budget and simple but also very fun roguelike shooter. It's the story of a journalist who ventures into another world, which is of course full of demons.
There's plenty of stuff to collect and to upgrade, including a home base.
Boss fights are a bit hard sometimes, but that's part of the appeal.
It's cheap, fun and has a ton of replayability.

Action gameplay from a top-down perspective with a "bullet hell" flavor, sprinkle in some RPG mechanics, add a dash of roguelike elements for good measure. Mix the ingredients together in the Unity engine, and don't forget the Lovecraftian garnish.

It may sound like a good recipe, but Razenroth ends up being a very mediocre product. It doesn't do anything particularly well, and unfortunately, it gets a few important things wrong.

[b]Full Review:[/b]

First and foremost, the movement is dreadful. It's too floaty, gliding around like you're a puck on an air hockey table rather than an intrepid adventurer trudging through a dark forest. The developers could probably benefit from reading "Game Feel: A Game Designer's Guide to Virtual Sensation" by Steve Swink.

The core gameplay loop is simple and functional, but it's nothing to write home about. In borrowing from various games, and combining different genres, Razenroth fails to add anything new or compelling of its own. If you've played anything similar, this is entirely unremarkable.

The music is bland and repetitive. I tried to improve the experience by muting it and playing tracks from Diablo or listening to podcasts. It helped, but still. The other sound effects were generic at best.

One thing that really bugged me was the "character hit" sound effect. You know that heart-pounding sound games typically use when a character is close to death? This game uses it every time you get hit. I kept thinking I was about to die, only to see my health at 80 or 90%.

Everything from the visuals to the audio, the UI, the HUD, and the general feel of combat and movement could be improved with a bit more polish. "Indie" does not have to mean "low quality", many games have proven that. The level of polish here is what you'd expect from a free browser game rather than a commercial product.

Combat text and damage numbers should have a border, or use a better font so they stand out against the background. If indicating damage received via the same method, use a different color and/or a different direction (i.e., damage dealt numbers float up, damage received numbers sink down). Don't just use a minus sign. There are other ways to communicate this information, but if you're going to do it that way, do it right and make it legible.

Lastly, more contrast is needed between the character models, objects like trees, and the rest of the world. This can be mitigated by setting the color palette to "Bright" or "Mixed" in the options menu.

[b]Conclusion:[/b]

I don't always use numeric ratings, but I'd give Razenroth a solid 5/10. It's not the worst game, but it could be better, and there are so many other options. If you have anything remotely similar, pass. Else, it [i]might[/i] be worth considering on sale. The lowest recorded sale price is $0.49 at -90% off.

PS: Not sure which version of the Unity engine is being used here. Setting the resolution was finicky at first, but aside from that, the game ran well enough on Linux.

Es un RPG de Dungeons de proyeccion cenital, safa, tiene el grindeo caracteristico de este tipo de juegos, la musica me gusta, los graficos son semi decente, pero no me atrae la jugabilidad.

По моим ощущениям игра значительно старше указанного в стиме 2015 года - либо она пришла в стим в указанном году, либо просто сделана на старом движке. Для своего ценника (особенно 15 рублей по скидке) игра довольно неплоха - есть несколько разблокируемых персонажей со своими способностями и пассивными умениями, возможность прокачки стартового дома ради получения бонусов для персонажа. Что касается минусов, то основным является именно рандом, особенно на максимальной сложности, поскольку все в игре генерится случайным образом. Пройти на норме после пары попыток проблемы не составит, а при прокачке дома это станет прогулкой в парке. Вторая сложность посерьезнее, но при прокачке дома тоже станет вполне проходимо. Вот третья сложность мне так и не далась - мобы становятся толстые до безобразия и попытки прохода превращаются в ожидание погоды у моря - по большей части вы просто не будете получать достаточное количество полезных предметов для персонажа, чтобы убить боссов. Тут встает второй момент - для получения достижений придется потратить некоторое время на пробеги или их попытки и самым долгим у меня получился вариант с заданиями - их надо выполнить 5 на достижение, а генерятся они на случайно формирующихся картах раз в никогда. Еще не всем нравится серо-коричнево-зеленая цветовая гамма окружения, выбранная разработчиком. В целом для своей стоимости игра вполне приличная. К игре есть достижения и карточки.

A very entertaining top down action shooter with RPG elements.
It's plug and play! Simple, bug-free, responsive, smooth.
Don't expect much depth story wise. The graphics and sound are mediocre.
The forte of this game is the razor sharp game-play, with 5 maps that are always random and there is permadeath! (yes, if you die you have to start the campain all over again, but it's not such a big deal).
If you take Diablo and simplify it to the extreme, you get Razenroth!
The 5 maps are short but the game is addictive, especially for players who want to acquire as many achievements as possible, so you will have plenty of incentive to have multiple playthroughs.

Cool roguelike adventure game.
It's not frenetic and fast-paced like some others. On the contrary, it's slow and relaxing. It's a nice change of pace.
The gameplay is very simple - fight through the enemies and then face the boss. Procedural levels give it a ton of replayability.
It's simple and that's ok, it's totally worth it.

This is a game which has a cheap price but is not inferior at all. The game has content and fun that are not commensurate with its price, which surprised me heavily. It has the traditional gameplay of 'rogue - like', with a overlooking perspective. It's a bit difficult for beginners, but once you get the hang of it, the game becomes relatively easy. For example, you can use the various pillars in the game that cannot be shot through to avoid the attacks of small minions, and then playfully kill them. Of course, as a 'rogue - like' game, luck is also very very important. If you can't get powerful items all the time, it will become very difficult to fight against the final boss in the later stage. A very powerful item - The golden apple is very useful, especially on very hard difficulty level.
Completing different tasks in the game can unlock several different characters, and different characters have different passive skills, but I think the gap between the characters is not particularly big. A decent roguelike, with simple mechanism of progress. Closer to Binding of Isaac or Vampire Survivors which I've also played recently. There could be more skills to use though.

Leaning heavily on randomization comes at the cost of player onboarding on lasting direction of play, worsen by generating unbalanced experiences for difficulty.

Куплена была аж в 2016 году за баснословные 12 рублей, только сейчас решил пощупать на тему "а почему я это не скрыл еще?". Поиграл с часик под ютюб. В целом понял что пора ее скрывать. Не зашло, хотя отзывы вроде как почитал и некоторым нравится. Но, увы. Для баланса поставлю палец вниз.
