Ana oyun + Cleopatra: Queen of the Nile DLC ile birlikte ciddi içerik sunuyor.
🎯 Genel Puan: 8.4 / 10
🔍 İnceleme
Pharaoh + Cleopatra, şehir kurma oyunlarının “old school kralı” diyebileceğimiz bir yapım.
📌 Ekstra Not:
Sabırsız oyuncular uzak dursun.
Ama strateji + planlama seviyorsan → bağımlılık garantili 🧠🔥
Blast from the past for millennialzzzzzz
nice and chill building game. A very old one but classıc for me
Does not hold up as well as other strategy games from the era. Not worth trying unless you have nostalgia for it.
just a cool game to chill with
Nostálgico e, mesmo antigo, ainda muito!
Would aid King Hor-aha again
Nostalgia galore. Played this back in my WIN98 Machine. A few glitches but playable.
I loved going back and playing this game again.
This game is one of the best i haver played
Been playing on and off for almost 3 decades. Really good

A very fun city builder using ancient Egyptian technology, plan your housing where it can service industry without having undesirable location, get services coverage for water, religion, medicine, etc. There's actually a ton of detail and fine tuning to perfect building placement, your workers tend to turn one direction so you have to build your roads in a way to ensure that every housing gets all the people types walking. Lots of color with fun little dialogue from the workers walking the roads or working the fields/industry! I've played it well over 500 hours, good re-playability in my experience, different options for maps depending on opening screen choices, and actually quite challenging as you get in later ages. And don't forget to pay attention to the opening dialogue, about whether you have to build a military, which will involve building near the copper ore to mine efficiently. Really fun, highly recommended.
A blast from the past, played a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of it back in the day, and it is still looking super gorgeous. Gameplay still stands out as a solid city building game, though UI is a bit dated by today's standards.
solamente me encanta.
Is there any chance we can get this for macOS?
Stará, ale stále skvelá hra.
Pharaoh is a classic city-building game that still feels rewarding today. Managing resources, pleasing the gods, and building massive monuments is deeply satisfying. The pace is slow and the interface is dated, but the depth and charm more than make up for it. A must-play for fans of classic strategy games.
I love this game.
wow
(g)old
Started playing this game when I was a kid and I still enjoy it.
Holy nostalgia. GOTY
I honestly don't think I'll ever find a city builder I like as much as Pharaoh. I have played so many new ones but come back to this time and time again. It might be part nostalgia but it's also just an excellent game with slightly outdated graphics. There are definitely annoying things (such as when the market delivery person refuses to supply food to the shack to the left for no clear reason), but it adds to the challenge. Such good replay value as well. I may have only 135 hours on Steam, but I think I cumulatively have over 600 hours since I first got this on sale at GAME as a teenager.
Fun up to a point. Becomes extremely tiresome and boring the further you go and the more pyramids you have to build. You end up just sitting there waiting for the pyramids to build themselves, even with the 'pyramid speedup' option enabled.
Also when playing longer missions, you tend to run into the 'aging population' issue which can easily end up destroying your city, forcing you to reload or start again. There are workarounds to try and solve this problem, like intentionally removing your housing and replacing. But the fact that the player should have to do this highlights a major game design issue. The player should not have to intentionally remove their population.
It became increasingly clear to me that a huge portion of the difficulty of this game is derived from simply battling the game's mechanical flaws.
There are better city builders out there. Hell, check out the other games by Impressions because they were better made than this.
I used to play this game on Windows XP Professional back in the 2000s. I saw it here and, since I loved this game, I wanted to give it a shot on my Surface Pro 5 running Ubuntu.
I am NOT disappointed at all, it works beautifully!
Playing for more than 5 hours straight for the first time in decades says it all!
Thanks Steam for making this possible, and thanks to the developers for creating such an amazing game! TOTALLY recommended, NO DOUBTS!
Deep, complex and brutally difficult with gorgeous graphics and great historical detail
This a great classic city building game. Easy use. Very few bugs/crashes. (Never for me at least....) Plays and feels just like childhood playing all over again.
nostalgia no more
Great game BUT buy it on gog. Steam port is very unstable not unplayible but unstable.
That goes for most old pc games on steam. Gog have good emulation instead of direct ports witch mean more stable experience.
Have played all the Sierra Ancient Civilisation games over the years. Always enjoyable and fun. All of them are among my favourite games.
One of my absolute favorite games ever. Infinite replayability.
Un gran clásico en administración de recursos
Had big problems playing this on windows 11, game ran ridiculously fast (even at 10% ingame speed) and crashed every couple of minutes
It's a classic game. Get this if you don't want to get the remake. The graphics are a bit more realistic.
Great game to zone out to !
I've played almost all the games in this series - loved the roadblocks being added!
IF YOU KNOW YOU KNOW
This is a classic strategy game!
Great game.
Its a fun game :)
It's nostalgic. I used to play this all the time
fun game
Classic
Is fun
This was my childhood
facil de jugar y entretenido
Pharaoh + Cleopatra isn’t just a game, it’s like stepping into ancient Egypt itself. Twenty years ago, I remember rushing through schoolwork just to get back to building my cities, managing farms, temples, and monuments under the desert sun.
The game still holds up: the art feels alive, the music carries the pulse of the Nile, and the strategy is deeply satisfying. Watching your city thrive, your people happy, and your monuments rise gives a real sense of accomplishment.
Even now, with the Cleopatra expansion, it feels just as exciting. Pharaoh + Cleopatra isn’t just nostalgia, it’s a timeless city-building classic. Today’s games may have fancy graphics and nonstop action, but they rarely capture that calm, immersive vibe. The feeling of truly living in your city, hearing the Nile, and watching your civilization grow. That’s something modern games just don’t give you.
Pharaoh + Cleopatra is such a blast from the past. I loved it when it first came out, and I still love it today. It’s the perfect combination of fun, strategy, and ancient Egypt, all wrapped in a healthy dose of nostalgia. The city-building mechanics remain engaging, the atmosphere is timeless, and the charm hasn’t faded one bit. If you enjoy strategy games with historical flair, this classic is still a must-play.
its just a nice change from my main style of pvp games
This is something I can do at any time and it is relaxing for me. The ease of the game is helpful when I'm trying to settle my mind from the outside world.
pyramid go brrrr
great game, love the old style city building style. Still challenging even now! Great to go back and do missions on harder modes.
and old fashioned (early style) building game... a relaxing game with enough challenge to keep it interesting.
Best game ever! Stands the test of time.
its fun
Pure nostalgia. I played this game years ago and was happy to see it still exists! Great time sink. Highly recommend.
Sierras Citybuilders are all solid, if dated these day.
The same as I remember when I first loaded it up after coming back from the store with the big box and an actual manual. Good simple RTS. Some parts of the campaign could be better and the same glitches exist. Wouln'd change anything. Good way to lose a couple hours.
This game is a childhood favourite, I am struggling to play it now as I'm so used to newer generation controls in these type of builder games, but it is such a fun nostalgic thing for me.
oldie but goodie

Love this game since I was kid.
Unfortunately, this game crashes within a minute of being opened, repeatedly. I think it is just too old to run on most computers, which sucks.
just a good old game
It's a real classic and totally easy game play, one for lazy Sundays! I've liked this game ever since I was young and I had it on my first family computer, it sticks with you even after 20 years. Defo worth a play.

Un classique
Pharaoh + Cleopatra, developed by Impressions Games and published by Sierra in 1999, is a landmark in the city-building genre and remains one of the most atmospheric, mechanically rich, and historically grounded simulations ever made. As a spiritual successor to Caesar III, and part of the same engine lineage, Pharaoh takes the proven city-building framework and transplants it to Ancient Egypt, complete with Nile floods, monument construction, and a unique economy centered around the rhythms of Egyptian life. The included Cleopatra: Queen of the Nile expansion adds a substantial campaign and new challenges, making this bundle a must-play for both fans of classic strategy games and those interested in historical simulation.
The game puts you in the sandals of a noble family rising through Egyptian society over the course of several millennia. Starting with small settlements along the Nile and progressing to mighty urban centers like Thebes and Memphis, each mission offers a distinct challenge grounded in a specific historical period. Objectives may involve building pyramid complexes, developing trade networks, maintaining political stability, or defending your city from invaders. These goals evolve in complexity over time, pushing you to master not just city layout, but also the subtleties of ancient logistics, religious appeasement, and long-term planning. The campaign is lengthy and well-paced, charting a believable evolution of Egyptian civilization while integrating mythology and monumental architecture.
Pharaoh’s core gameplay revolves around a detailed simulation of city life, with a walker-based system where citizens deliver goods and services by physically walking through your city. This means that city planning is far from cosmetic—your road layout, building placement, and service coverage directly affect how your city functions. Food distribution, water access, entertainment, healthcare, religion, and education are all necessary to evolve simple huts into grand estates. This system creates a highly strategic puzzle out of urban planning: if water bearers don’t walk far enough, your houses will regress; if priests or entertainers can’t reach homes, citizens become unhappy. Unlike modern city builders with radius-based effects, Pharaoh demands spatial logic and constant refinement.
Resource management is where the game truly shines. Your economy is tied to the Nile, whose yearly flooding nourishes farmland but also poses a threat if poorly managed. Agriculture is the backbone of your city, but it ties into a broader system of manufacturing, trade, and taxes. Players must establish supply chains: grow barley, turn it into beer; mine gold and export it; craft luxury goods like jewelry or papyrus. Trading with other cities becomes essential as some resources—like cedar wood or precious incense—are unavailable locally. Balancing internal production with external trade requires careful attention to storage yards, transport logistics, and maintaining trade routes. When it all works smoothly, it’s immensely satisfying. When it doesn’t, it’s a lesson in the fragility of ancient supply chains.
Religion and monument-building are essential aspects that differentiate Pharaoh from its Greco-Roman cousins. The game features five gods, each representing a domain such as agriculture or health. Players must construct temples and shrines and host festivals to keep the gods appeased. Neglect them, and divine wrath may manifest in plagues, crop failures, or industrial accidents. Meanwhile, monument construction—pyramids, mastabas, sun temples, and obelisks—serves as the ultimate test of your city’s stability and resource coordination. These massive projects take years to complete and require vast quantities of labor, stone, and food. Watching a pyramid slowly rise over decades of in-game time is one of the most rewarding visual payoffs in any city builder.
The expansion, Cleopatra: Queen of the Nile, integrates seamlessly with the base game and pushes the time frame forward into the Ptolemaic era. It introduces new missions, additional monuments such as temples to Isis and the Lighthouse of Alexandria, and an increase in military challenge. Foreign invasions, particularly from the Romans, are more frequent and demanding. This makes military defense more critical, and players must balance their economy with the need to train troops, construct fortifications, and maintain an army. Though combat is still the weakest aspect of the game—with clunky controls and limited tactical depth—it adds stakes and variety to the mostly economic and logistical gameplay.
Graphically, Pharaoh + Cleopatra has aged with surprising grace. The 2D sprite-based visuals are richly detailed, colorful, and filled with life. From the bustling markets and scribes' schools to the flowing Nile and towering pyramids, every part of the game is lovingly animated. Citizens go about their daily lives in believable routines, and the environment reacts to your decisions—fields turn brown during droughts, and construction sites grow slowly over time. The interface, though dated by today’s standards, remains functional and intuitive after a brief learning curve. The game's use of overlays and advisors to communicate city health is particularly well done, giving you insight into underlying problems without overwhelming you.
The audio design, too, contributes heavily to the game's atmosphere. The soundtrack features a blend of ambient and traditional-sounding Egyptian music that complements the slow pace of city management without becoming repetitive. Sound effects—market chatter, festival drums, or the ominous voice of a displeased god—further enrich the experience. The advisor voiceovers are memorable and helpful, though some of their phrases may wear thin after dozens of hours. Still, they help build a sense of immersion and continuity throughout the campaign.
There are flaws, of course. The walker system, while clever, can be unpredictable and occasionally frustrating. Services may not reach certain neighborhoods due to poor road design or AI quirks, which can lead to unexpected regressions. Military gameplay feels tacked on, offering little tactical nuance beyond placing forts and hoping your soldiers win. And for players used to modern conveniences like auto-saving, notifications, or advanced logistics tools, Pharaoh can feel unforgiving. But these quirks are part of its charm. The game requires patience, planning, and experimentation, rewarding you with a deep sense of accomplishment when your sprawling Egyptian metropolis thrives.
Ultimately, Pharaoh + Cleopatra remains a towering achievement in city-building and historical gaming. It manages to combine complex systems, historical authenticity, and rewarding gameplay into a cohesive and engrossing experience. Few games since have matched its dedication to simulating an ancient civilization with such detail and care. Whether you’re an armchair historian, a strategy enthusiast, or simply a fan of intricate management games, Pharaoh + Cleopatra offers a timeless journey into the heart of the ancient world—one paved not just with roads, but with vision, patience, and stone.
Rating: 9/10
IT's so much fun. I love building ancient worlds.
Great old school city builder. Very enjoyable.
Nostalgic.
This was my introduction to the genere of Impression Games style of city building.
This was one of my favorite CD based games from the 90s.
The music is fun, the visuals look amazing and it's fun to watch them construct the pyramids; laying down the foundation to pulling the stones in.
I know they made a remastered version of this, but really the RM can't compare to the original. It has a subtle ascetic that makes it unique.
very very very fun

CLASSIC
fine game
Mi primer Gran Juego de Estrategia. Desde el 2000. Una Obra de Arte de Sierra productions
Very fiddly mechanics and hard to navigate menus. Jazzy graphics and enjoyable to come across an alternative take on city builders but gameplay not fun enough
26 years old and still better than some of the builders these days.
- No micro transactions
- No anti cheat, certainly not farming my data, software
- Can be run quite literally on a Maris Piper Potato with an Intel 4 HT sticker on it
- "Take goods back to the Bazaaar"
seriously so much fun, did run into some bugs
