[b]The Perils of Man[/b] ist ein schönes [b]Point-&-Click-Abenteuer[/b] von [b]IF Games[/b] aus 2015.
Wir spielen die 16jährige [b]Ana Eberling[/b], deren Vater seit 10 Jahren verschwunden ist, sie bekommt aber zu ihrem Geburtstag überraschenderweise ein Geschenk von ihm, ich möchte weiter aber nichts spoilern.
Das Gameplay ist üblich für "Point-&-Click" - wir sammeln Gegenstände, müssen ein paar Rätsel lösen.
Die [b]Grafik[/b] ist sehr comichaft, die Figuren (nicht alle sind menschlich!), sind knuffig designt. Auch das [b]Sounddesign[/b] ist solide gemacht, es gibt eine komplett vertonte [b]Deutsche Sprachfassung[/b].
Es handelt sich aber nicht um ein "klassisches" 2D-Point-&Click, wir laufen mit Ana durch eine dreidimensionale Welt, die für das Genre schon sehr hübsch gestaltet wurde!
Ein normaler Durchlauf des Spiels dauert um die 3,5 bis 4,5 Stunden. Leute, die das Spiel mit allen [b]14 Achievements[/b] vervollständigen wollen, sollten (auch bei Zuhilfenahme von Guides) 4,5 bis maximal 6 Stunden einplanen.

Ich empfehle dieses schöne [b]Point-&-Click[/b] allen Fans des Genres ohne Bedenken. Ich finde den [b]regulären Vollpreis[/b] [u]sehr fair und angemessen[/u], sollte das Spiel mal mit 50% Rabatt oder gar mehr (wie im Moment auch!) im [b]Steam-Sale[/b] gelistet sein, würde ich glatt von [b]Pflichtkauf[/b] für Genre-Liebhaber sprechen.

I tried this since I felt like playing a simple adventure game, but find it is too tedious to finish. Too many areas aren't a puzzle, but rather an arbitrary sequence of events you have to guess (look up online) in order to proceed.
For example, how do you enter the manager's office?
- There is a sign that says he'll be back in 30 minutes
- It turns out what you have to do is:
1. Look out the window
2. Talk to the man
3. Talk to the woman
Somehow that unlocks the manager's office. Nothing to do with time or 30 minutes, again, just an arbitrary sequence of events that lets you proceed.
Also, some camera issues (maybe a bad port?). There is no way I would figure out how to get down the elevator since the "lever" you need to attach the balloon hook to is off-screen. You can only see it sometimes when you run through the room to random spots.

Yine nötr puan vermem gereken ama Steam'in sistemi yüzünden olumlu ya da olumsuz yorum yazmak zorunda kaldığım bir oyun. Perils Of Man bağımsız yapımcı elinden çıkma bir Bilim Kurgu Point & Click. Hem bir çeşit "babasını arayan genç kız" hikayesi, hem de "teknolojik mucizeler insanlar için her zaman faydalı mıdır?" sorgulaması. Oyunla ilgili olumlu ve olumsuz yönleri madde madde yazacağım:
Olumlu:
- 3 boyutlu çizgi film hissiyatlı görseller güzel. Bölüm aralarındaki sinematik sekanslar da bence çok iyi. Üzerinde emek harcandığı belli.
- Hikaye sürükleyici ve her ne kadar biraz klişe içerse de etkileyici. Aslında bu hikayeden ergenlik dönemindeki gençleri hedefleyen bir roman çıkabilirdi. Çok satmazdı muhtemelen ama çıkabilirdi yani.
- Müzikler oyun boyunca çok iyi. Seslendirmeler de. Yalnızca bir iki yerde garip hatalar var, mesela bir karakterin (erkek) söylemesi gereken cümleyi diğerinin seslendirmeni (kadın) okumuş falan.
- Oyundaki bulmacalar ilk bölümlerde tatmin edici. Zorluk seviyesi iyi. Genellikle karakterimiz ne yapmamız gerektiği ile ilgili sağı solu gözlemlediğinde fikir veriyor. Inventory'de devasa nesneleri taşıyabiliyor olmamız saçma ama daha ne büyük gariplikler gördü eski oyunlarda bu gözler.
Olumsuz:
- Hikaye güzel demiştim. Hikayenin işlenişi pek iyi değil. Daha doğrusu karakter derinlikleri pek yok.
- Yukarıdaki maddeye ek olarak oyun epey kısa ve ikinci kısmı oldu-bittiye getiriliyor. Belki karakter derinliklerinin oluşmamasının sebebi budur.
- İkinci kısımdaki bulmacalar garip biçimde aşırı kolay. Oyun neredeyse bir interaktif çizgi-filme dönüşüyor. Bu kısımda ayrıca akla mantığa sığmayan absürt durumlar var. Örneğin karakterimizin saklanmaya çalıştığı kişinin önünde dolanması ve bu kişinin inatla karakterimizi görmemesi gibi. Oyunun bu kısmı aceleye gelmiş belli ki.
- Oyunda otomatik hotspot gösterme özelliği yok. Yani tek tuşla ekranda iletişim kurabileceğimiz nesneleri göremiyoruz. Bu da bizi belirli kısımlarda piksel avcılığı yapmaya zorluyor. Oyunun özellikle 3 bölümünde bununla karşılaştım. (Kısa bir oyun olduğunu söylemiş miydim?)
Sonuca gelirsek... Bu oyunu Point & Click sevenlere indirimdeyken öneririm. Hiç iz bırakmayacak ama oynadığınız süre boyunca (ki bu da uzun bir süre değil) keyif verebilecek bir oyun.

In theory, it does a lot right. In reality, it does nearly everything wrong.
The slow movement itself already makes this a kind of walking simulator. And if you have no clue what do to at all, you are losing time and patience watching your character walking. Ah, yes, clues: Forget the "help function", as the advices are often just forgettable. There are hints for things you have already done whick is rather confusing. Oh, and there is no hotspot activation. The story seemed to be bearable enough to justify a playthrough, as I really like point and click adventures. But after a few hours, the shortcomings made me surrender.
Lovely, quick game with an engaging story and talented voice acting.

Game is a little old but in a retro way. fun story and the puzles are fun and get you thinking out of the box.
This game defines Point N Click Adventure. Everything about it is a joy to play. I loved every moment from beginning to end. Lots of interesting locations and characters. A pretty cool involved story. A couple of the puzzles were either far reaching or didn't make sense at first so I consulted the walkthrough a couple of times. And it really could use a hotspot indicator. And the common complaint for almost all P&C games is we all wish they'd allow WASD control. Otherwise this was exactly what we're all looking for in a P&C Adventure. Play on playas!!

In realtà, The Perils of the Men, sarebbe da recensire NEGATIVAMENTE a voler essere obiettivi. Innanzitutto il flusso di gioco è abbastanza breve e poverissimo al suo interno. Il gioco sembra volersi comportare come una ag classica in un primo tempo, e ne sono la prova gli enigmi presenti nella fase iniziale, in numero e qualità sufficientemente buoni. Ma poco dopo è come se ci se ne dimenticasse e gli enigmi diventano sempre meno e per lo più legati ad azioni necessarie a far proseguire la vicenda. Sembra quasi che all'improvviso si sia tentato di trasformare il gioco da un classico punta e clicca, ad uno narrativo esplorativo. Il problema è che si tratta di due generi molto diversi e che raramente possono coesistere; il primo richiede molti enigmi, location hotspot, oggetti da inventario; al secondo occorrono dialoghi, sceneggiatura più approfondita, sotto-trame e cosi via. Ma il gameplay impoverito di enigmi, necessari nel primo tipo, non viene arricchito degli elementi del secondo tipo. Per alcuni giocatori potrebbe perciò capitare di concludere il gioco con l'impressione di aver giocato poco e praticamente non aver fatto nulla.
Perchè lo consiglio comunque? Beh, è una motivazione molto personale. Innanzitutto, il gioco ha un soggetto molto originale o comunque già trattato nel mondo fantascientifico ma mai in questi termini. La storia quindi è interessante anche se raccontata in modo molto affrettato e finisce per risolversi tutto negli ultimi cinque minuti di gioco che pure sono intensissimi. Anche l'atmosfera di certi scenari è molto accattivante grazie alle musiche suggestive scelte. Infine, il gioco è spesso scontato e venduto per pochi euro e si tratta di un indie fatto a basso costo un po' con kickstarter, un po' con sovvenzioni statali e voglio attribuire i difetti del gioco all'inesperienza e alla carenza di fondi. Ripeto, può non bastare a giustificare l'acquisto, ma io il gioco ogni tanto lo riprendo con piacere in mano. Quindi qualcosa di buono dovrà pur avercelo.
I wanted to like this game, but I couldn't. One of the biggest issues is the 3D camera, which makes navigation tricky and frustrating. The inventory is also buggy, and getting items out of your stupid inventory feels like more of a puzzle than the actual puzzles.
The story feels hollow and empty. It had potential, but it didn't deliver. And everything is too slow. If they'd just done things in 2D and spent more time developing a good story and dialogue, this could have been a pretty good game.
A nice point'n'click game.
I played this almost a decade after release and wasn't really expecting much, but I quite enjoyed it. I think any old school adventure game fan wants to be a Bill Tiller fan from his having been one of the leading artists on Curse of Monkey Island (the amazing art of which is a key part of making it an all-time great) and other Lucas Arts classics. But unfortunately he's mostly flopped since deciding to change from being an artist to being a designer and writer. A Vampyre Story was abandoned unfinished (he's been talking about making a second part for 15 years now, but it's clearly never going to happen) and wasn't a good game at all even taking it as just a first chapter. Ghost Pirates of VooJu Island was an unplayable disaster. Duke Grabowski was another one that was abandoned after a very short, mediocre at best first chapter.
So I was happy to discover that Perils of Man is short but tells a complete story and tells it well. The art is very good as you'd expect from Bill Tiller, the voice acting is excellent with the one notable exception of the protagonist's mother, the story is well written and entertaining, the puzzles are pretty basic but interesting enough mostly to keep the player motivated. The one major problem is that some of the environments are quite dark (with no brightness option in the settings), and there is no hotspot indicator. So it either becomes a tedious pixel hunt several times or you just need to check a walkthrough (as I did) when you're stuck and are pretty sure it's just because you missed some random object in a dark corner of some room.
This is a fun point click adventure game. Its not overly long or very difficult, but its a neat little story and satisfying to complete. There are some bits that are a bit glitchy due to the 3D interface but it wasnt hard to look past that. If you catch it on sale i highly recommend it. It may not be worth full price to some due to its fairly short playtime.

Was quite surprised as I saw this game in my inventory which seemed hidden somehow. Plus, was a nice change in genre since I didn't play these kind of games that much.
As a 16 year old girl you try to find your missing father by solving puzzles and traveling in time.
The game has some bugs since it came from the mobile port but you can unsee them if you just try to enjoy the journey!

의외로 골때리는 과학자 집안의 장녀가 생일을 맞아서 부친이 남겨둔 유산을 따라 집안의 비밀을 추적해 나가는 어드벤처 입니다.
이야기를 진행하며 집안의 비밀을 추적하고 그 이면의 진실을 알게 되었을때 진짜 이 집안의 사람들은 대체 뭐하는 사람들인가 하는 생각이 들 정도입니다.
할아버지(?)가 남겨둔 특수한 책과 그 책에 지정된 특정한 시간을 넘나들수 있는 특수한 안경을 가지고 시간을 여행하며 비극으로 남아있었던 사건들을 별다른 희생이 없는 보통의 사건으로 바꿔가며 진실에 다가가는 그런 이야기입니다만... 진짜 진실은 어이가 없을 정도로 씁쓸하죠.
그래도 책과 특수한 안경만 있다면 시간을 마음대로 여행할수 있는 물건을 만든 주인공의 할아버지(?)는 진짜 대단한 사람인것 같습니다.

I played for over two hours & I didn't find the story & characters engaging. To be honest I find them rather annoying. The puzzles are simple & aren't fun, the point & click can be all over the place, just feels like it's there so it can have an excuse for gameplay. The animations & voice acting are great! for an indie title, they're outstanding.
I can see younger audiences liking this. if you are or have an 11-year-old they would like this. It's their demographic this game targets. Disappointing, a good story should know no age.
I won't be giving a rating out of 10, this isn't for me. I do recommend it for younger audiences.

Ana Eberling ist der jüngste Spross einer Erfinderfamilie. Der Vater sowie einige ihrer Vorfahren sind spurlos verschwunden. Die Mutter ist deshalb überängstlich und gewährt Ana nur wenige Freiheiten. Kein besonders aufregendes Leben. Dies ändert sich jedoch schlagartig an ihrem 16. Geburtstag, als Ana ganz unerwartet ein mysteriöses Geschenk von ihrem verschwundenen Vater erhält. Nichtsahnend wird sie damit buchstäblich in einen Strudel von unglaublichen Ereignissen gezogen, denn ihre Familie hat sich schon über Generationen mit Zeitreisen und dem Vorhersehen von tragischen Ereignissen beschäftigt. Ausgestattet mit einem Risiko-Okular und in Begleitung des mechanischen Vogels Darwin macht sich Ana auf, ihren Vater und vielleicht auch ihre Vorfahren zu finden. Doch damit hat sie auch das Schicksal von Tausenden Menschen in ihrer Hand.
In klassischer Point-&-Click-Manier lüften wir so Stück für Stück die wohlbehüteten Familiengeheimnisse. Begleitet werden wir dabei von dem überaus liebenswürdigen Geschöpf Darwin, der uns auch des Öfteren dabei hilft, uns aus einer misslichen Lage zu befreien. Wie immer in solchen Adventures finden wir Gegenstände, können diese bei Bedarf in unserem Inventar sehr komfortabel miteinander kombinieren und müssen sie an der richtigen Stelle wieder einsetzen. Ein zusätzliches Rätselelement bietet das Risiko-Okular, mit dem wir Gefahrenquellen erkennen können, die es dann zu beseitigen gilt.
Mir hat die Grafik und auch die Vertonung ganz gut gefallen. Die Rätsel waren bis auf wenige (nicht ganz logische Kombinationen) nicht allzu schwer. Der ganz große Pluspunkt geht an die Geschichte. Diese ist wirklich spannend und sorgt am Ende für einige Überraschungen. Ein kleines Oldschool-Adventure, das wirklich Spaß gemacht hat.

Grafik ve sanat tasarımı oldukça güzel olan ve ondan da önemlisi atmosferi baya güzel olan bir point&click Perils of Man. Kayıp babasından beklenmedik bir hediye alan Ana'nın macerasına tanık oluyoruz. Hikaye güzel, bulmacalar ise fazla kolay. İndirimlerde mutlaka göz atılmalı.

It has very nice graphics and animations, the story and the puzzles are nice and pleasant.
Overall, I recommend this game; however players looking for a challenge will be disappointed, as the game is VERY short: expect to clear the game in 2 hours or so of gameplay; also the difficulty is not hard, with the game hardly providing a challenge, except for a few minor graphical glitches which can sometime cause a plot-critical item to become hard to see amidst its background.
I didn't completely hate the game, but as a big fan of point and click adventures, I also just can't recommend this one. There are some interesting ideas in the mix and the visual design isn't bad, but none of the puzzle solving, game mechanics, or story elements really felt like they were worth the time I spent playing (which is saying something given that the game isn't very long). The achievements are easily earned if that's your thing, but unless you got this game at a deep discount, I would play something else.
Really cool concept for a game, graphic style is a bit out dated. However, if you can get over that it has a superb story. The game-play elements can sometimes be a bit hard to grasp, make sure you pick everything up.
1. The story is a historical time time travel mystery with a dash of quantum leap (a 90's TV show) inspiration. It's fairly solid and equally well written and like the average Hollywood movie you'll have to gloss over a little plot hole here and there. As you'd expect there's a twist and I'll happily admit for once I didn't see it coming.
2. Graphics and visuals are good, nothing spectacular, but, for a 7 year old indie point and click title, it doesn't look as old as it is.
3. The voice acting is well above and beyond what I was expecting for the price and certainly adds to the immersion and story telling.
4. As for the characters, as already mentioned voice acting is well done, the protagonist can, at times, be a little annoying and a couple of characters are (in my opinion) not particularly well written and in all my time with Perils of Man, I think I laughed once, maybe twice, curious considering graphics (again in my opinion) do tend to lean towards a more comical styling. That said the mechanical bird and the interactions between said bird and the protagonist are the highlights, sufficient as to make you care about them both, which is kind of important.
5. Gameplay is solid, no bugs, good pathfinding* and interaction, easily controlled just using the LMB and ESC key, although sadly little in the way of any real challenges or puzzles. The only real detraction in this area are the cut scenes which are only 30FPS, possibly even less and rather nauseating to watch.
*With one exception being the transition area between the furnace and reservoir in the Theatre basement, which was badly coded/implemented.
6. All achievements can be earned in a single playthrough, there's no alternate endings and no replayability beyond earning achievements.
So, do I recommend it... yes, while short, it is memorable. I would, however advise against a full price purchase simply for the fact that in the last 12 months it has spent more time on sale on Steam with a 50-90% discount than it has at full price.

Die Geschichte ist nicht neu und erinnert an die Science-Fiction-Fernsehserie Travelers – Die Reisenden die zur selben Zeit erschien.
Mit 5 Stunden Spielzeit etwas kurz und es bleiben viele fragen offen.
Alles in allen ein gut gelungenes Spiel im Bereich aller Loom und Monkey Island wovon es immer weniger neue gibt!

Ein kurzes (ca. 5 Stunden) und interessantes Point & Click Adventure über Zeitreisen. Ana versucht ihren verschwunden Vater aufzuspüren dabei landet sie immer wieder in der Vergangenheit und zwar an gefährlichen Orten. Also Gefahren bannen, Vater aufspüren und Happy End, natürlich läuft es anders als geplant und eine Art jagt beginnt durch verschiedene Zeiten und Gefahren. Ein nettes Adventure für Zwischendurch für jedermann, absolut empfehlenswert.

Perils of Man is a nice point&click adventure game. It offers quite good story combined with good puzzles and pretty artstyle.
You play as a girl who wants to uncover the secrets of her father who was a scientist and disappeared long time ago. The story involves altering the time which will let you to explore very different environments and interact with with wide variety of characters.
The gameplay is the usual point&click style. Although the puzzles are pretty interesting. At times it might become a bit annoying with all the backtracking but it's worth it.
Barely anyone noticed this game and in my opinion it's underrated. It's not a masterpiece or something you will remember for your whole life but it has something which makes it feel like one of those the clasic point&click games, it has that vibe. Probably because it was a collaboration with ex-LucasArts developers.
Of course there's a lot of talking too and the game has some sense of humor. You'll meet some interesting characters and have a pleasant (or not) talk with them. You also have your little helper.
This game requires paying attention to a lot of things but once you figure it all out it feels rewarding. Although sometimes i'd like some hints or something because walking back and forth while trying to figure it out could be tedious. Nevertheless most puzzles are really good.
Graphically it looks quite good. I know I usually say 3D point&click games are bad but this one probably is one of the better looking ones. While graphics are nothing special the artstyle compensates for it. Character design is really good.
Voice acting is surprisingly good and I have no complaints here. Plenty of different characters and they all sound original.
Overall a good point&click game. It has lovable characters, cute graphics, interesting story and puzzles. Get this on sale.

Nice point and click with ethical turnabouts to think about while you play to be god (sort of). It has a good idea and all, the game per se it's ok enough, but you end with the sense of lots of loose ends, things unresolved or explained just mid-way. So the experience feels like unfinished and rushed at the end.
Buena aventura gráfica con tono filosofico y encrucijadas éticas mientras tu protagonista se lía jugando a ser dios (más o menos). La idea principal del juego es buena, los acertijos no son complicados... en sí, el juego está bien, pero tiene algunos factores que estropean la experiencia. Lo principal es la cantidad de cabos sueltos, temas sin resolver o explicados a medias que hacen que sientas la aventura, inacabada. El final, algo precipitado, es casi anticlimático. Y la genial exposición de la moralidad de las decisiones (aunque como jugador seas tan sólo expectador de las mismas) flojea en el peor instante a causa de esa aceleración en el último acto y la falta de empatía con el personaje principal que se le tiene en ese momento.
Aún así es un buen entretenimineto como juego. Pero a mi parecer tenía más potencial de lo que a resultado finalemnte.
Recomendado, pero sin el entusiasmo esperado.
Very mixed feelings, not gonna lie. I really like Ana, Thomas and basically every character. The biggest problem I see with this game is it's budget. The graphics look dated, I've bugged the game at least twice during the playthrough, there're many un-polished things. The camera work is sometimes really bad and, my god, can you add the run option. The game is basically unbeatable if you don't wanna be frustrated out of your ass or use a guide, so many items have tiny hit-boxes and are barelly visible. BUT the story, while basic, is really enjoyable. Like I said, I enjoyed Ana as the protagonist. I feel like Edgar was a little anoying, but excluding that everyone isn't all that bad. What ultimately will kill the experience for many will be the playthrough time. Most of my hours in the game were spent afk. Game is beatable in less than 2 hours if you know what you're doing.
So this game is very sweat, and short. Not sure what the developers have been doing recently, but I really see good things and room for improvement.
6,5/10 would be generous, so I'm just gonna call it a "barely positive"....

Great little game. It took me 6 hours to play through. Reminded me of the old school P&Cs from the 90s.
The game is ok but the scenery is very simple and the story is also simple.
The action is like any point and click game, and I also like pointandclickgames (among other kind of games), but there could have been more to it...that is to say, for what I like in point and click games.
The story is not very deep and the graphics are ok but just a bit to simple in my opinion, there is little background scenery and the same goes for the action, a bit childish.
I do want to emphasise that it's my opinion and I do recommend it cause not all games have to be "gems" and specially if you're new to point and click games this one will keep you busy and maybe even make you wanna play more pointandclicks so if you're interested in those kind of games, this a good starter.

Im speziellen hat er sich mit Zeitreisen beschäftigt, was den Spieler erahnen lässt, dass er wohl möglicherweise noch am Leben ist - wovon Ana ohnehin als einzige überzeugt ist.
Durch das Geschenk bekommt Ana nach ein paar kleinen Rätseleien im elterlichen Haus eine eigenartige Brille, das "Risiko-Okular", mit dessen Hilfe sie alle Gefahren um sich herum erkennen kann, was ihr bei ihren Abenteuern sehr nützlich sein wird. Außerdem entdeckt sie ihres Vaters Labor unter dem Haus. Durch ein Buch und die Brille kann sie jetzt auch Zeitreisen unternehmen, und so macht sie sich auf die Suche nach ihrem Vater, den sie seit 10 Jahren sehnsüchtig vermisst...
Das Abenteuer ist nicht mit einer sehr langen Spielzeit gesegnet. Grafisch gesehen ist es hübsch gezeichnet, scheint jedoch ein klein wenig aus der Zeit gefallen, wie man so schön sagt, es wirkt durch die teilweise einfache Darstellung der Umgebung etwas älter und erinnert so an frühere, einfache Spiele. Dennoch, um die Ehre der Entwickler zu retten, muss ich sagen, dass nichts fehlt. Irgendwie mochte ich, dass die Szenerie nicht mit tausenden unnützen Dingen angefüllt war - wohl, weil es dem Schwierigkeitsgrad des Spiels angepasst sein sollte. Die Charaktere sind schrullig und witzig gezeichnet und die das Spiel tragende Geschichte ist sympathisch und gut in Szene gesetzt.

Die Rätsel sind nicht sehr schwer und auch nicht sehr leicht - ein ungeübter Spieler sollte hier gut zurecht kommen, ein Liebhaber knackiger Rätsel wird sich hier nicht gefordert fühlen.
Die Musik ist ok, die deutsche Sprachausgabe hervorragend. Der Unterhaltungswert dürfte für die meisten gut sein, denn es gibt im Grunde nichts zu meckern. Zu vernachlässigen, aber von neueren Adventures gewohnt, fehlte mir die Möglichkeit zu rennen oder mit einem Doppelklick in die nächste Räumlichkeit zu wechseln.
Das Spiel ist zwar keine echte Herausforderung, aber das muss ja auch nicht sein. So bleibt es für jeden spielbar und unterhaltsam. Es hat auf jeden Fall meine Empfehlung !

Perils of Man is a 3D point-and-click adventure with some interesting ideas. It was worked on by Bill Tiller (of Curse of Monkey Island fame, as well as the fantastic Duke Grabowski). It doesn't really stick the landing, but I enjoyed it nonetheless, and I would recommend it to casual adventure game fans.
Our protagonist is a sheltered sixteen-year-old named Ana who lives with her crackpot mother in a crumbling old mansion. Ana is descended from a long line of genius inventors who all have a habit of either dying horribly or vanishing into thin air. A mysterious birthday gift, purportedly from her missing father, leads her to a hidden laboratory full of interesting gizmos. Before we know it, Ana is traveling through time, trying to prevent terrible disasters alongside a brand-new robotic sidekick and armed with special goggles that help to identify danger.
These goggles, known a "risk atlas", are a major game mechanic. When you arrive in a new location, putting on the goggles will switch you to a first-person view; you can look at the environment through Ana's eyes, and objects glowing bright red, such as an oil barrel too close to an open flame, will indicate which puzzles you are meant to be solving.
Perils of Man does suffer a bit in the execution department. There is a little bit of a pacing problem; at a tight four hours or so, the game doesn't feel like it's quite large enough to accommodate its own story. We are whisked so quickly from location to location that not all of the story beats have sufficient time to really land, and we roll into the game's conclusion before it really has time to get off the ground.
The art style is quite nice, and there's lots of good-looking cutscenes sprinkled throughout. Unfortunately, not all areas of the game seem to have gotten equal amounts of love, and some locations are much more sparsely decorated than others.
I enjoyed the Perils of Man because I liked the story, and I am a total sucker for time-travely kinds of games. Also, I liked spending time with Ana, who is as cute as a button, and her robotic sidekick, who is very reminiscent of Oscar the Automaton from the Syberia series. The puzzles are nice and breezy, too. All in all, this was a great game to kick back with for an hour or so after work, and it kept me engaged for the few nights it took me to play it.

Bardzo polecam tą minimalistyczną graficznie grę. Opowiada ona o bardzo ciekawej historii, możliwości przechodzenia w czasie za pomocą googli ryzyka. Subtelna historia, piękna oprawa muzyczna i bardzo ciekawe zagadki, pozwoliły mi na 6 godzin przepięknej gry. Niektóre zagadki jednak nie mają sensu, przez co można długo zastanawiać się nad ich rozwiązaniem

内容は、
発明家一家に生まれたアナが疾走した父親を探して時空を超えて冒険します。
シナリオも良くねって有り、埋もれた秀作の一つと言っても良いと思います。
序盤の母親はちょっとうざいですが、そこを超えるとどんどん楽しくなります。
謎解きは、アイテムを見つけるのに苦労するかも知れませんが、それ以外は簡単です。
（アイテムハイライト機能が無いので頑張って探しましょう。スパホ版はあるんですけどね。）
セールならかなり安くなりますし、日本語化もしましたので、ぜひとも皆さんプレイしてみてください。

You can predict that the game will technically tank: it's in 3D. The full game, not just the cutscenes and the trailer.
The 3D Point n' Click experiment was justly abandoned 20 years ago, yet someone decided to ignore the obvious, so here you've got:
- Wrong cameras
- Invisible spots
- Impossible moves
- 10 clicks necessary to pass a door you know is there
- Etc
3D wasn't bad enough in their play tests, so the devs included other ancient, Geneva Convention-banned design flaws:
- Invisible walls
- No hot spots key
- Cursor labels not on cursor but at screen top (can you do splits with your eyes?)
- Inventory drag instead of acquisition click
- Superfluous inventory combination steps
- No fast movement
- Deliberately slow transitions between rooms
It's called a point n' click, but what it really is is a point n' move n' press n' keep pressing and move n' drag n' not yet n' now you've got to start over n' move back n' wait n' oops n' etc.
More bad news I'm afraid: The storytelling is poor, the story nonsensical, the characters stupid (the mother unbearably so...) Even some of the dialogue is presented in the wrong order.
In this context, the absurd puzzles / inventory combinations are actually consistent, but it's not a good thing.
There is one original idea in the game: a danger-sense you use to identify what the puzzles are that you have to solve. It's a visual tool, and it's offered in first person view.
The idea works. Furthermore, it's pleasant in both narrative and gameplay aspects.
You can't perform any action in first person view, sadly.
A full 1st person adventure approach would have cancelled most technical flaws, and possibly made for a pleasant game despite the weak story.

The game has a really interesting conceit and the bones of a great story. Unfortunately, they never really developed it. Characterization is basically nonexistent. A lot of intriguing ideas are mentioned, only to be completely dropped or never addressed, and the "Twists" are just nonsensical. Only worth buying if it's desperately on sale.
Perils of Man is a classic point and click game worked on by a former LucasArt dev. It's in the shorter range of games and to be honest, it was a bit too short and I'd love to play more of it; exploring the fate of Ana's mysteriously disappearing relatives (including her own father!). If there ever was a Perils of Man 2; that'd be it.
The gameplay is your classic point and click, it can be a bit clunky and tbh the game feels way older than 2015. However that might be done on purpose, to mimic the look of Harter's previous work in the Autumn Moon graphic adventure engine (although this game is unity and is a mobile port).
The story is captivating and you get thrown into the mystery right away, you follow the adventure of Ana as she's trying to find her missing father. This leads her to finding out more about the so called family curse. The characters are quite okay and the voice-acting is definitely in the better part of the scale.
Definitely recommended for all point n click fans!
While the adventure is short, it is very good. I like the story and the art style. The voice acting is really good. I don't feel like any of the puzzles were overly difficult and I was able to solve without a walkthrough, the in game hints are helpful. I would like to see more perhaps find out what happened to Ana's father.

Since the game has Bill Tiller on board, I really tried to like it. The visuals are appealing, but it's boring, obtuse and occasionally broken. Did not bother completing the game, honestly, but it's a red flag because I'm a huge fan of point-and-click adventure games. It's pretty rare for me to leave a game with no regrets.

Ogl to gra mocno posrana, główna bohaterka porusza się jakby miała nielada problemy z hemoroidami. Mocno nudzi i często przychodzą momenty, że za marchewke nie wiesz co zrobisz i potem masz już taką obsesje robiąc 10 kółko po całym domu, że klikasz wszystko już jak leci. Gdyby nie to że kupiłam tą grę za 10 zł to bym sie chyba załamała że to mam... no ale w sumie ma jakiś plus. Przy niemieckiej sciezce dzwiękowej można pośmiać sie z mutacji bohaterki. Jeżeli ktoś lubi siedzieć kilkanaście godzin i se klikać we wszystko jak leci totalnie bezmózgowo a potem łączyć tarke z balonami to jak najbardziej niech to kupuje...

Хорошая история. А это необходимый базис для игр данного жанра.
Анимация в игре, конечно, стремновата, да и элемент псевдо 3D не очень радует глаз, но с ним могут быть замечены проблемы всего в паре мест на всём протяжении. В управлении могли бы на мышь повесить хотя бы открытие инвентаря, да и на ПКМ легко бы влезло управление ПНВ.
Сложностей с прохождением я не встретил, даже ни разу не воспользовался знаком вопроса в верхнем правом углу (понятия не имею, что он делает). Головоломок как таковых в игре нет. Но не думаю, что это минус, принимая во внимание, что уже больше 20 лет они одни и те же в играх.
Для тех, кто с английском не в ладах, есть прекрасный русификатор от Prometheus Project, который можно найти на ZoG'е или где-нибудь ещё
Awesome point and click game that brings me back to my childhood memories. This is an excellent game with an awesome story. This game is better developed from older graphic adventure games with hint option given. It was worth every dollar spent on it.

Perils of Man has a unique story involving what it would be like if we could see the risks that come in the future. Would it be good? Bad?
It was very interesting to see how involved the main character becomes in this and how much her life changes from these events. I would definitely recommend this game.

I have so many games, and many of them, as I've come to found out, are not worth my time. This one, though, which I found while looking for good games to play, was a very nice surpirse. It's got a simple but very interesting sci-fi plot involving time-travelling and changing past events, and the puzzles are reasonable. Voice actors also did a great job. Rercommended!
Sadly, a great storyline, great puzzle ideas and brilliant art, music and sprinkling of sound effects are spoiled by clues that are borderline and as illogical as the mad Captain himself who sees German warships in an achohol induced haze. It's an epic story, but spoiled by just one thing, the clues being so tentative, that the immersive and credible storyline ;is just not strong enough to hold.
Worth playing, but dont bother without a guide to remove the tedium you will go through; by having to click on everything may times over.

In questa avventura grafica comandate Ana, una ragazzina che ha appena compiuto 16 anni, ed è alla ricerca di suo padre. Tutto inizia quando sua madre le da un cilindro violaceo trovato in un box di legno appartenuto a suo padre. Girando per la casa ne troverà i segreti e andrà nel passato nella speranza di evitare gli incidenti descritti nel libro The Perils Man, sperando che ciò l'aiuterà a trovare suo padre, scomparso misteriosamente 10 anni prima. La storia che c'e dietro a questo gioco è carina ma il resto del gioco fa acqua da tutte le parti a partire dagli errori di penetrazione dei poligoni a volte la ragazzina attraversa i muri o cammina nel vuoto. Graficamente è povero per essere del 2015, e la durata del gioco è meno di 5 ore. Che diventa poco meno di 2 ore se lo si vuole rigiocare da zero. Gli enigmi non sempre si capiscono, e non sempre si vedono gli oggetti interattivi nello scenario, in più l'unione degli oggetti nell'inventario è un pò macchinoso anziche unirli nel classico modo, ossia un oggetto sopra l'altro. Bisogna inserirli negli ingranaggi che si trovano al centro dell'inventario, solo cosi si combinano. Infine è tutto in inglese. ^^;
Personalmente non lo consiglio a meno che non volete giocare un'avventura grafica come pausa, prima di iniziare un nuovo gioco tripla A.

The animation hurt my eyes
Tengo un profundo respeto por Bill Turner. Si algo habré hecho durante mi niñez, es recorrer los escenarios creados por él en The Curse of Monkey Island y, más adelante, los de The Dig. Tengo hasta una copia original de A Vampyre Story (Que espero poder terminar algún día). Sin embargo, tengo que decir que este juego solo me generó decepción.
Era prometedor, quizás demasiado. Cuenta con mecánicas únicas y una trama que, a simple vista, atraparía a cualquiera. Sin embargo, rápidamente se pierde el encanto, y la única razón que queda para jugarlo es descubrir si, con algo de suerte, el juego remonta de alguna manera.
