This game has to grown on you to like it... ive tried... and its not for me... i just dont find it entertaining... its terribly punishable... while you try to min max your army... always pushing into enemy that is ambushing you and bombarding you... all the technology u have sucks.... sometimes it feels like it would be easier to conquer russia with russian forces... elite german units sucks... only infantry worth a damn are pionieers... and so on and so on....

What makes this game special is how elegantly all of its systems work together. At first glance it looks like a classic turn-based wargame about tanks and infantry, but after playing a full campaign you realize how deep and carefully designed everything is. Artillery suppression, air power, terrain bonuses, experience stars, heroes, logistics, encirclements. Every mechanic feeds into the others in a way that feels incredibly satisfying.

The result is that battles develop naturally. You start a campaign thinking tanks will solve everything, and then slowly discover how important infantry, artillery support, and air superiority really are. Suddenly your Stukas become surgical strike weapons, your artillery shapes the battlefield, and your veteran infantry becomes the backbone that holds everything together. It feels less like solving a puzzle and more like conducting a real military operation.

What impressed me most is how the campaign evolves. Early scenarios capture the momentum of Blitzkrieg, while later battles force you to adapt, defend long fronts, and manage increasingly complex situations. Each scenario feels like a story in itself. Some missions are fast breakthroughs, others are tense defensive battles that keep you thinking several turns ahead.

The core army system is brilliant. Watching your units gain experience, heroes, and history over dozens of scenarios creates a strong attachment to them. Losing a veteran unit actually hurts, which makes every decision meaningful.

And despite the depth, the game never feels unnecessarily complicated. The mechanics are clear, the interface is smooth, and everything flows naturally once you understand the systems.

To the developers: you managed to create a strategy game where mechanics, history, and gameplay reinforce each other perfectly. It’s rare to see such thoughtful design.

Panzer Corps 2 is not just a good wargame. It’s a beautifully constructed strategy game.

An absolute monster of a turn based wargame. It's not hardcore, and as a result you get a lot of beautiful mechanics. Everything from deciding the makeup of your core force which you carry though the game to the heroes you can mix and match on your units to create very interesting builds.

One of my favorite parts of the system is the set of choices offered at the beginning of the campaign in order to create your general. You can effectively decide which mechanics are active and as a result influence all of the decisions you make about army composition and tactics used.

The huge breadth of unit options where everything has a very distinct role makes for very complex rock paper scissors mechanics that mean you have to think about your moves and how to tackle various objectives.

This is one of my favorite games of all time, simply due to the breadth of tactical and strategic decisions to made in the campaign.

Now for the cons. The story is incredibly cringe, to the point that I think you really have to put up a Weharaboo forcefield in order to survive the experience. Divert your eyes and click like mad or embrace the suck. The choice is yours.

Absolutely love it.
Had 300+ hours in just the base game. In terms of different missions, you can go through the entire campaign 5 times and still come across new missions and be surprised. And if those different missions arent enough there's a ton of options at start to challenge you time and time again.

I absolutely love the way you can customize your armies, for some reason you actually get quite attached to some when you've used them during almost the entire game being very experienced and then sadly passing away due to an unexpected enemy.

For me the DLC's are a great addition, the normal campaign takes about 20 - 28 missions per run and if you have all the axis dlc's you get a TON more to play through till you reach the end (enough time for customization etc). As of now, im still in my first run of the DLC's with like 100 hours and counting, so more than enough to do.. Maybe some more branching for different missions and campaigns ( I really miss the africa campaign in here) would be nice, but besides that.. Awesome!

Overall, Amazing game.
Mechanics can be a bit much at start, not knowing what to do, what to buy.
As soon as everything clear the game is still very challenging and can be very puzzling at times with the right difficulty options.

Base game 10/10 from me.
Axis DLC's 8/10, a lot of different missions, a lot of time and possibilities to change and customize armies etc. Some more variety in terms of missions could be nice, maybe an Africa campaign DLC at some point ;).

Some of you guys review bombing this game as a Nazi propaganda tool need to chill the hell out.

Similar to PC1 and the predecessor titles Panzer General I & II, the campaigns in PC2 don't mention Nazism, display any swatiskas, reference Hitler by name, or align your activities as the player to anything directly related to the holocaust or atrocities committed by the Germans in WW2.

The purpose of the game is to offer a WW2 experience from a German perspective with emphasis on their military campaigns, NOT their politics. Part of the equation required to make that experience somewhat authentic is to humanize the real people who served in the Wermacht and this is the extent of what's done - albeit with a mix of real and fictitious cast.

Humanizing people who were on the wrong side of history doesn't extend them allowances for despicably immoral acts, got it?

Reading some of the reviews on this game would give the impression the campaign has you running death camps or ordering forces to participate in Kristallnacht - when nothing of the sort happens. Probably the most edgy thing is in the 1943-44 campaign where you have a bonus objective to avenge a fallen Panzer Corps by hunting down the Soviet armor group that massacred them.

Speaking of - why do I never see comment warriors review bombing games that let you play as Soviets? It's like the purges, pogroms, and holodomor were never a thing... my twice great-grandfather left St. Petersburg just before communism came along, so I can offer plenty of thoughts here.

I'm not a German apologist, closet Nazi, or out to dishonor the sacrifices made by anyone's grandparent or relative in the most deadly conflict in history. I'm just a history major who isn't afraid to unpack contentious topics because defeating bad ideology requires understanding it, but dog-whistling Nazism or injecting a slanted view on history isn't this game's goal (especially when the devs sneaked pride flags into a WW2 setting).

I'm also not afraid to leave comments open on this review - unlike most people posting review bombs. Go ahead and call me names. I learned a lot from playing this game and if you enjoy turn-based WW2 strategy with a lot of historical depth, it's worth buying.

Můžu doporučit, ale jsou tam i věci co se mi nelíbily.
Co je dobré:
1, Krásně zpracované mapy.
2, Krásně zpracované jednotky, animace.
3, Na normální obtížnost pohoda.
4, Hrdinové, ocenění, expení, armáda postupem kampaní roste a zlepšuje se.
5, Dobrá balanc jednotek.
6, Mechaniky (opevnění, obklíčení, jak se co počítá) jsou mnohem jasnější než v jedničce.
7, Krátký a dobrý tutoriál.
8, Armáda je omezená na sloty, nemůžete stavět nekonečné armády.
Co se mi nelíbí:
1, Estetika GUI, grafika obecně mimo bojiště. V nákupu / upgradu jsou jednotky rozplizlé, zvětšené z původních modelů, je to nepřehledné, otřesně hnusné. V jedničce bývala po misích oddechová obrazovka, kde si člověk mohl prohlédnout jednotky a udělat management. Tady to musí dělat na bojišti, ty mapy se střídají moc rychle za sebou nemáte čas si užít úspěch. Taky mi chybí představení prototypů, jednotky nemají popisky, žádné historické reference nic. Hrozná škoda, tohle je hrozně odfláknuté.
2, Omezení na sloty je možná až moc přísné, takže jsem měl ke konci 40 000 prestiže a neměl ji za co utratit, protivník měl převahu v letadlech a nebylo to jak řešit.
3, Nápad že artiny většinově nebudou bránit střelbou buď před obrněnci nebo před pěchotou vedl k tomu, že jsem si na začátku hry koupil 15ky děla (co umí oboje) a měl je až po San Francisco.
4, Na konci není nic, žádná tabulka se score, animačka, cokoli. Hodí vás to do hlavního menu. Aspoň tabulku s nějakými body tam dát mohli. Takhle ta hra vypadá neukončeně.

C'è una famosa campagna del '41. Prima di acquistare PC2, datevi una letta a quello che dice Edmon, cioè lo sviluppatore.
Io dico che un gioco del genere può rappresentare un'ottima sfida per chiunque.

it is a solid strategy game that can be a real challenge if you want it to be. not as good as the first one in some ways. I liked the fuel management system better in #1, when planes would stay on the field until, either, you remember to send them back to base or, they crash. the UI is a little funky in this one and kind of gets in the way of damage indicators, and the camera snaps back at the end of the opponents last turn, sometimes keeping me from seeing what happened lol. a couple annoying nuances that can be overlooked in time. at 10hrs of gameplay I give it an 8.7 out of 10.

Yes I would recommend this game to others. It is simple in its presentation but it requires you to research the game fundamentals though YouTube videos and also to enable the Advanced Options. Always enable this option as it will enhance your gameplay. Too many playthroughs are saddled with flying blind. The YouTube videos and Steam Discussions will help newcomers immensely. Otherwise you will play the game blindly and perhaps become frustrated in the process and you may set it down.

As a veteran of Panzer General and Panzer Corps 1, I consider Panzer Corps 2 a deeply flawed sequel — not because it is difficult, but because it actively punishes competence and breaks the core design principles that defined the series for decades.

The Battle of Moscow ’41 exposes everything that is wrong with the game’s campaign and scenario design. Even a technically correct victory requires constant reinforcement, unavoidable attrition, and massive prestige bleed. I finished the scenario with roughly 600 prestige despite careful play, standard replacements only, and preserving my experienced core. The next scenario (Kharkov) then assumes a rebuilt, functional army — with no compensation whatsoever for the economic collapse Moscow forces upon the player.

This is not challenge. It is economic sabotage disguised as difficulty.

The scenario design is fundamentally broken:

Victory hexes are scattered across the entire map, forcing overextension.

The player must capture Moscow and immediately endure an overwhelming Soviet counteroffensive.

Enemy forces arrive in relentless waves of infantry and heavy armor.

There is no meaningful pause, no disengagement option, and no strategic “out”.

You either reinforce and bleed prestige, or you lose irreplaceable core units. There is no clever alternative. Skill does not change this outcome.

Worse, the game’s economy actively encourages perverse strategies: letting core units die to avoid reinforcement costs, rebuilding them later, abusing AI behavior, or excessive save-scumming. Preserving veteran units — once the heart of Panzer General and Panzer Corps — is now often economically irrational.

In Panzer General and Panzer Corps 1, good play was rewarded. Efficiency mattered. Long-term planning mattered. Hard battles could be recovered from. In Panzer Corps 2, long defensive scenarios function as grind traps where prestige drains regardless of how well you play.

Winning no longer feels satisfying.
It feels like surviving a design mistake.

Preempting the Usual Developer Defenses

“It’s historical.”
Historical difficulty does not justify broken progression. History explains pressure, not mandatory economic collapse. Good historical strategy games translate difficulty into interesting choices — not forced attrition with no player agency.

“Just lower the difficulty.”
Lowering difficulty does not fix structural problems in scenario pacing, prestige economy, or campaign continuity. It merely hides them. A well-designed strategy game should reward skill at all difficulty levels, not punish it.

“You’re supposed to lose units.”
If the optimal strategy is to deliberately sacrifice experienced core units, then the campaign economy is fundamentally misdesigned. A Panzer Corps game where unit preservation is discouraged has lost its identity.

“It’s meant to be brutal.”
Brutal can be fair. Moscow ’41 is not. It is oppressive without being clever, punishing without being rewarding, and difficult without offering meaningful strategic alternatives.

Final Verdict

Panzer Corps 2 does not fail because it is hard.
It fails because it is hostile to good play.

The Battle of Moscow ’41 is emblematic of the problem: poor mission pacing, unavoidable attrition, and a prestige economy that collapses by design. Where Panzer General and Panzer Corps 1 respected player skill and long-term planning, Panzer Corps 2 replaces them with grind, punishment, and frustration.

This is not evolution of the series.
It is a regression — and a profoundly disappointing one for long-time fans.

One of the few examples where the sequel is every bit as good and even better than the original. Both stand the test of time as great games. The DLCs have been fun, and even some of the community mods have been EXCELLENT, though I wish the one would sit down and complete the war.... they had a 1939 through 1942 or so and seem to have left off there. Regardless, I have probably sunk too much time into this game and I keep coming back to it when I finish others. I look forward to ongoing DLC releases and expansion of the product line. Maybe some more US / UK driven official campaigns as well despite this being titled Panzer Corps. Or to port some of the original campaigns and missions into the '2' model.

I highly recommend the game. For a turn based strategy game it really does a good job of keeping you involved and in the action. Two thumbs up!

[h1]The Chinese Localization Needs to Be Redone Properly[/h1]

I was genuinely interested in playing Panzer Corps 2 in Chinese. Unfortunately, the current Chinese localization is of very poor quality and feels unfinished.

There are [b]numerous missing translations[/b], with hero names frequently appearing half in Chinese and half in English. [b]Punctuation is inconsistent and incorrect[/b], often using English punctuation where Chinese punctuation should be used, which seriously affects readability. Even more concerning, [b]basic terminology research is clearly lacking[/b]: well-established city names (for example, Sedan in France) are handled with random phonetic transliterations instead of their commonly accepted Chinese names.

These are not minor stylistic issues — they are fundamental localization and QA failures. Any professional localization process should catch problems like missing strings, inconsistent naming, and incorrect terminology long before release.

If this localization was outsourced to an LSP, I strongly recommend reconsidering that partnership. If it was produced primarily via machine translation, it would honestly be more respectful to players to withdraw the Chinese version entirely rather than leave it in its current state.

I sincerely hope the developers will [b]redo the Chinese localization from scratch[/b], with proper linguistic review and QA, and release it only when it meets a basic professional standard. Panzer Corps 2 deserves better, and so do its Chinese-speaking players.

Perhaps I did not give it enough of a chance but it did not strike me as my cup of tea. I am not a fun of the civ-like combat. Only aux units have range and everything else is "melee" which strikes me as very odd. That being said, I am not into turn-based (with a few exceptions) and I got this simply because of WWII-bias makes my brain go awooga

No steep learning curves, straight into the action, optional tutorials.
Very intuitive design and I like the UI
Graphics does the job and it definitely has replayability there.
