I loved this game for its fun party time stuff. Never did the online but it seems people were passionate. Do everyone a favor and don't bother looking at the second game. Could be fun for anyone who hasn't played this game and they made sure no one knew afterwards with the dismissal of this game from the store. Want to play Pacific Rim with your pal in a fish luchador mech? Well if you're reading this you're out of luck unless the studio decides innovative is cool again and gives steam the game.
This is simply one of the finest games to enjoy with a group of friends, particularly if you have ever harbored a desire to unleash havoc upon them and entire cities.
really fun and I love just sitting down and playing versus with my friends.
Good game, but Modus delisted it from Steam to force you into buying the inferior sequel. I mean, the singleplayer modes are still available here, so why stop selling it?
This review's rather late to the party, but Override 1 is without a doubt one of the best casual one hit wonder mech fighting games to date or at least I personally believe so. Sadly, its potential was short-lived and criminally underutilized. Unlike many Mecha themed games out there that are most commonly based off of either Gundam or Titanfall aesthetics in terms of scale and design, Override wanted to make you feel like you were controlling an absolute unit of steel machinery. The various city maps and overall campaign against giant monsters are a real treat for fans of franchises like Godzilla, Ultraman, or even Pacific Rim. However, despite this, the game does not have much replay-ability value after completing the campaign as the story is relatively identical regardless of which mech you choose to play as and is extremely short. No secret unlockable mechs or maps, no alternate routes/endings, etc. The game is fairly lacking in a roster as well. Though it may seem that there are a handful of mechs to choose from, most are already available when you boot the game up for the very first time. Plus, the ones locked behind a DLC paywall will instantly be available as well if you of course purchase them. Perhaps, if the devs made the player actually attempt to earn the new mechs by maybe having you randomly encounter and fight them sometime throughout the campaign, it would've been more rewarding and would've given motivation to the player to grind a little to acquire the locked mech without simply being handed the entire roster in one sitting. As someone who grew up playing Godzilla Unleashed for the Nintendo Wii (By far the best Godzilla game that has yet to be topped even by the 2014 Playstation game imo), I can say that if there would be any Kaiju/Mech game that modern devs could draw inspiration or take notes from, it would without a doubt be the Atari/Pipeworks Godzilla game trilogy. The games had great rosters, numerous maps with decent building physics and overall fairly diverse campaigns (mostly for Godzilla Unleashed and the player's actions as specific monsters). Now give Override those three qualities, and a more open roaming mechanic in-game, and I personally believe the game would be a real competitor in the giant monster/mech game genre. Most unfortunately though, the devs I guess decided to take all of the potential they could have improved on with this title and utterly throw it into the incinerator and turn it into a generic e-sport wannabe sweat-fest. I tried it out and lost interest within a week. No monster campaign, no city locations, all sport-themed arenas and senseless grinding that gets you nowhere as the rewards for completing fights are pitifully bare minimum. Bottom line, R.I.P. Override 1, fantastic small mech title that had an opportunity but was horribly cut down by its developers in favor of some goofy ahh Real Steel/Rocket League hybrid. A real shame considering not many mech games these days capture this specific type of "GIANT robots fighting GIANT monsters in CITIES" that resonate that old-school "MECH VS. KAIJU" action.
I love giant robots and kaiju. The mechs are all extremely cool looking. The game has an awful lot of polish and looks great. But I can't seem to get into it.
My biggest gripes are:
The heat gauge underneath your health meter. Your mech overheats if you button-mash. Overheat and you can't dash, block, or attack. It's great for multiplayer because a player is punished for playing cheap. But the CPU is not restricted to this limitation, and it's not uncommon to find myself being pinned in a corner by 3 enemies beating the crap out of me without mercy.
The desperation attack are too overpowered. It's nice having a "oh crap" attack to turn the tables, and the animations are REALLY cool. But you could be diligently working over an opponent and struggling to keep your health at a high enough level that you don't have to use a desperation attack...then your enemy hits theirs and wipes out 75% of your life bar and you lose anyway. Once again, great for multiplayer but not fun against the CPU.
My other issue is that special attacks don't seem to be very responsive. Countless times where I swore I was holding X and hitting a shoulder button to perform a special and my mech is just standing there like a bump on a log taking punishment without answer, then suddenly performs the attack way too late.
With the servers being shut down: the first two major problems I have become magnified. The simplest answer to those problems was don't play against the AI. Don't have that option anymore.
I'm definitely going to check out the sequel to this game. It looks like several of the problems I outlined above have been smoothed out. I'll give that one a shot when it goes on sale. While I didn't hate this game by any stretch; I'm still disappointed and wouldn't give it the recommendation.
Yeah, can't recommend it, sadly. It's just too gimmicky. The "campaign" is utter ♥♥♥♥♥. It's nice you can play it with every mech, but that hardly changes things. No difficulty options, maybe introduce some "rogue-lite" elements, an actually good plot, team battles, dunno. Stuff like that.
All that's left then is the Skirmish mode vs friends or AI, which gets boring after a couple of hours at most.
The multiplayer scene seems to be entirely dead, waited minutes for a match, but couldn't find anyone.
Apart from that the robot hitboxes are wonky, the controls are often clunky, loss of character is frequent, despite instant wake-ups, the blocking mechanic is ... strange, to say the least, and the game would have been better off without it entirely or with an entirely different counter mechanic. The Mechs themselves are all fun and somewhat unique, but the battles get super busy on screen. Explosions, screen shakes, flashes, camera going haywire. All of that sells that it's actual Mechs fighting, yes, but it makes for a bad playing experience.
The general control scheme is cool, every button controls one of the Mech's extremities, and in Co-op up to 4 players can control 1 Mech, everyone on a different limb. That's awesome and probably where this game has the most potential.
It's a great idea with mediocre execution and, unfortunately, entirely dependent on whether you have friends to play this with, as solo it's just pointless.
Incredibly fun game, an "arena fighter" genre type of game that you don't see much of anymore, reminds me of good old titles like "spawn: in demon's hand", "heavy metal geomatrix", "one must fall: battlegrounds", "gundam seed rengou vs ZAFT II", "virtual on" and so on, there really aren't many games like this that i can think of nowadays, and i absolutely recommend it.
Big arenas with destructable enviroments, fun, easy to pick up and play arcade style gameplay, various melee and gun weapons to pick up, a good variety in the way that the characters play differently from one another, fun movesets.
I haven't seen a game quite exactly like it on the PC and wish i'd have found out about it sooner.
You have a league mode, which would be sort of a campaign mode where you start out with a robot, play matches ranging from 1v1 to team matches to 4v4, and can gain upgrades and credits as you progress, and by completing specific tasks. Or you can just set up a versus match and choose any robot and arena from the get go, you can also set up the AI level of your opponents, and choose any mode you want (1 to 4 player versus, team mode in any way you wish to arrange, for example 2vs2, 3v1, etc), and in addition to bots, you can also invite online friends...which brings me to the next point...
The only cons for me are regarding the online multiplayer mode, the fact that you will sadly are not likely to find people to play online with you if you use the matching service :( there are barely any active players as of this writing, very sad and unfortunate as i find this a VERY underrated game that deserved much better.
Ostatecznie zyskuje on swoje miejsce w gronie elitarnych żołnierzy walczących z monstrami i nim zdąży otworzyć butelkę szampana, odkrywa drugie dno swojej misji.

No i jeszcze jedna sprawa!
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2842419589
Jeśli masz ekipę do grania, śmiało w to inwestuj!

Controlling the mechs and learning to use the special moves is very fun, but the swarms of enemies are not nearly as much fun as fighting mechs one on one which you wont get much of in single player.
If there was a community of people playing, then easy to recommend.
As is, you're looking at a rather uninvolving campaign and then CPU or couch matches.
It is nicely done and I enjoyed learning to play and then beating the campaign. But I am kind of done with it quickly.
The Mechs are great, but as others have said, the city aspect is nonexistent; they're just small arenas with bits in the way. You will not be exploring.
For the price paid, it's fine, but I'd not be happy at full price given the limited scope to the game now.
Experience Pacific Rim style mech battles like no other.
The game looks great for a 2018 game, decent variety of mechs with their own special moves.
The combat is relatively slow and light attacks don't do much damage, so you need to calculate when you want to perform a heavy attack move as it drains energy and your wide open while you charge it.
The maps are destructible, so you are able to level the whole city.
The game is focused on multiplayer, and it's hard to find players online so unless you want to do couch/local versus match with friends in your room, you're pretty much stuck with single-player which is a big con.
Also, could be more maps.
If you like mech combat games, it is a solid purchase on sale.
It's alright.
wish there was more to this then just a kill bugs game.
maybe a Team death match where it's Mecha vs Kaiju?
Have 2 factions to spice it up a bit?
It would be cool to customize my Kaiju.
sucks that i actually enjoy the game and the community is completely dead, it wouldve been great if they just kept updating this game with new maps, skins, and game modes, instead of going for an unnecessary sequel that completely bombed
thank you for making a local/couch multiplayer game.. now me and my gf can Override and chill.. it was a ride alright
I absolutely love this game, I know I have a weakness for big stuff hitting other big stuff after seeing who knows how many Toho Kaiju movies and this games satisfies all my expectations. Worth picking the season pass edition cause the dlc characters are so fun to play as well. The game is quite simple and it allows for casual and approachable fun
i love the game i just wish the dlcs were free an more maps for the game but its fing awesome
Buen juego.
A fun game, but make sure you have friends to play it with. The game consists of arcade mode and multiplayer. Arcade mode is where you protect the world from monsters and occasionally fight another mech while unlocking upgrades and tools to help your mech. Multiplayer Allows up to four players to participate in one of three different modes, free-for-all, team battle, and shared mech (Up to four people all control the same mech. Can be challenging to even fight an easiest difficulty level AI). Unfortunately, the arcade mode is only really satisfying the first few times you play it and multiplayer is completely dead. Therefore, I don't recommend it if you don't have anyone to play with; however, if you do have friends to play with, it is great if you're looking for giant robot fighting game.
Pretty fun game especially playing it with friends! Though, this game gave me nausea from time to time.
Sounds okay, looks okay, but does not feel okay. Not fun in the slightest. Mainly was not a fan of the limb focused fighting... which is backbone of the game. When I bought this I was expecting monsters to have their own unique moves like how the Godzilla Melee or War of the Monsters was back in the day. Also the building crumble at the slightest touch, missed opportunity their for the monsters to use the environment as a weapon. Disappointed to say the least.
Very cool idea! Pacific Rim as a video game! And.... What a terrrrrrrrible execution!
The story mode is an absolute joke, about 1.5-2 hours long, SUPER easy, pointless missions and dialogs. Everything in the "story" mode is pointless. I was too hyped about the game that I even bought the Season Pass. What an unfortunate purchase.
The fighting feels like robot-like sponges hitting each other. No real sense of massive impact. This is even worse when fighting against the aliens of the story mode. It reminded me of some super bad PS1 games I played as a kid.
The premise of the game is awesome, but with the story mode being so stupid and the online being completely dead, you won't get your money's worth. Even for a mecha-nerd this game won't offer much. Recommended ONLY and ONLY if you are planning to play against a friend.
5/10
Maybe I was just too hyped for a game like this, but I did not enjoy it at all.
the best non vr mecha games
we can use a lot of incredible weapons(laser sword , laser gun and a lot of others weapons )
, use wonderfull ultimates, in various wonderfull stages , like full cities and countries for exemple egypt where we can enter in a temple
this stage is my favorite
we have really the impression our mecha is giant and it is incredible the city , all the bulding are little compare to us and it is an amazing feeling
and an incredible adventure mode where we must protect the city of monsters *
and an amazing mode customisation and costumes to unlock
it is a mecha wonder 10/10 for me i recommend a lot
I don't know why but this game has some goods in it. remind me alot like those goods 2000's era game
rarely and not much good brawler robots game. but this one is very good and yeah there drawback like
not much online plays since i only played singleplayer camping to get use to the control.
But I do hope someone or something will make this game to be known MORE.
keep up the good work! i would give 8 out of 10 with good rate!
Pretty fun arena fighter. It could still use polish though, mainly in the audio department(buildings have no destruction sound effect, the sound effects are generally weak, and the game music could definitely be better). Here's hoping that the sequel is better.
The reason I like this game is its unique concept. I haven't seen such a game in steam.
I mean you play with giant robots to protect earth
and even multiplayers can control same robot like in pacific rim, power rangers etc.
PROS:
-Unique concept
-Cheap
-Fun story
CONS:
-Multiplayer is dead sadly
-Short story (2 hours)
-Robots aren't balanced (Metageckon has the coolest and most powerful skills and cool appearance (like Godzilla))
-Last boss is easy
Overall buy it on sale and enjoy for a few hours, if you are ok with playing single.
Pacific Rim meets Real Steel, the gameplay is great and the mech design also wonderful. The 4-players-in-the-same-mech is the best feature in this game IMHO, 'cause now we can feel how's like to be Jaeger Pilot or Megazord Pilot. Highly Recommended if you looking something new and unique in brawler game genre (*pardon my bad English)
A very fun cheesy tropey mecha vs kaiju game.
A varied roster integrating all the typical archetypes, a cheesy anime plot and a campaign allowing one to upgrade your mecha.
There are also cosmetics to unlock (purely ingame unlockables).
Definitely worth picking up if you're a fan of the genre and want a light beatemup allowing you to rampage through arena's (cities, ruins etc) taking out attacking monstrous mobs, bosses or other mecha.
I "like" this game, lemme explain
if you expect to play your good ole buttonmash-speed-attacking-mecha-game, u are absolutely WRONG
this isnt your "mecha games" this is more of those Super Robots , super slow and HEAVY giant mahoosive units that punch slow and hits hard.
Base Gameplay
do i like playing it? decently yes.
at the first hours of the game you will realize this isnt a buttonmash, but each thing do its own movement, left leg, right leg, left arm, right arm to attack,
at the 2nd hours i eventually get used to moving, still kinda hard to play when againts multiple enemies. decently good at counter and when to effectively use skill. ()
i learned how to combos at the 3rd hours, and the game become so easy (at Hardest Difficulty on normal Arcade)
With that in mind, depends on your robot that you choose, theres a bit of different style of combos that you do, or how fast they move,
like if you see a mech with big hands, their hands reach fast and hard, but if they have tiny legs
Rocca is my main
, it dont dash well. And again, depends on the mech it will feel light ,rigid, or fat depends on the mech.
Story and Characters, in which it lacks a LOT OF PERSONALLITY
the sad thing when playin this is that its so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ empty, it felt empty.
Each character has a Slightly different storyline... "Slightly".
its even worsen by the fact that, these characters SHOULD have voice acting.
the story is nice, in execution, basically being told thru the text when you finish or start a mission. it truly lacked voice acting tbh.
Aside from the mechs design that are EXTREMELY EXTRAVAGANTLY COOL! , the character that pilots them are REALLY good. it's so SAD that they dont have a voice of their own!
like cmon, implement some voiceacting ingame also, so when they attack they shouted their special attacks, or like noticing they have some special attack to spend, or panicking when overheating and the like.
i am aware of that if you "shout" your special attack it would be annoying, but doing it once a while would make you feel like dems anime super robot pilots you know?
this also made me realize even more immersion things that are missing, the arena and such.
like at least you'd expect a scream or two from the citizens of the area that you are in, like if you are in a city, you'd hear people cheer for you when you did combos, or got scared when you fall.... on them.
Visual are impressive, BUT
everything is clean... "Wayy too clean"
when you are in the dessert, or your mech fall and hit building or the river, i kinda expected to see at least my mech get some of those dirt.
hell, i was expecting some Battle damage, WHICH IS SO SAD!!! because CMON NOW DEVS!! make these mecha takes some damage from time to time. it weirded me out at how pristine the mech is, like they are so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ clean, at least expected some grime from time to time you know?
like, at least when you complete a battle and the like, and you see how messed and roughed up your mech is, you have the reason to make sure its pristine to the end. more reason to master the game.
With that in mind
so yeah.... this is not the best immersive super robot brawl game, but its good enough. sadly, i do belive it lack SO MUCH on the immersion spectrum
i actually want a sequel of this game, where the character is even more pronounced, and the pilot aswell
An amazing game with an unfortunately dead community. Get this game with a friend or three and enjoy hours and hours of beating each other up as a giant fish luchador, but if you don’t have friends interested in the game I can’t really recommend it unless the game comes alive again because matchmaking is near-impossible.
Controls are super easy to pick up even for non-fighting game players, with no crazy inputs or combos to learn besides whatever you come up with yourself. The game is insanely fun, just possibly not worth full price. Pick it up at 20 bucks or less and you won’t regret it.
This game is insanely fun with friends. it reminds me of good old ps2 brawlers. its really fun and polished and id reccomend it on sale to anyone looking for a good time-killer
Transformers'ın dövüş oyunu versiyonu, gayet eğlenceli ancak 50tl kesinlikle değmez, indirimlerde 7.50TL oluyor o zaman kesinlikle değer işte.
fun game, definetely not worth the full price, but definetely worth more than the 85% off price it's been selling for.
Graphics are very nice and way better than I expected. I wish maps were bigger or maybe that buildings didn't feel like a castle of cards that get completely obliterated just by going near them. This leaves a sense of emptiness sometimes, even though some of the maps have interesting peculiarities, like the underground passage in Egypt, or the viaducts in the futuristic recreation of Paulista Avenue in São Paulo, Brazil (which also counts with a very nice looking recreation of MASP. As a brazilian, this attention to detail made me happy.)
The game heavily emphasizes PvP, and I'm okay with that. It feels a bit clunky in the beginning, but I think this happens just because we are used to button mashing in most 3d fighting games, and after you learn your mech's moveset (whichshould take just a few minutes in practice mode) the game should feel more responsive. The "more than one pilot for same mech" mechanics feel fresh and bring something new to the table, but heavy coordenation is needed, and I'm still unaware if the player is able to take part in online PvP matches in this format or if it only works in co-op modes. However, having played a bit of Arcade mode, I feel like the enemies kinda lack personality and interesting, unique, mechanics. I haven't been able to play it in higher difficulties yet, and maybe this stuff is present there, so I'll update this review whenever I check it out.
Right now, at 85% off, check it out, specially if you're a fan of mechs, kaijuu, and whatnots. The full price does feel expensive tho.
By far one of the best fighting games i've ever played.
Not a fan of fighting games cuz they're all just the same with different characters and abilities, but this game got me really hooked by its gameplay mechanics.
It runs smooth, the controls are good and not too hard once you get used too and the game is quite pretty and well animated, the punches feels strong, your abilities are cool and each robot seems to have a kit that really benefit from their optimal playstile, you should really try this out.
The best part: It is NOT a souless cash grab. All skins are obtainable through gameplay without being too grindy (Played the arcade mode entirely and alredy got 2-3 epic skins).
You NEED to play this if you like giant robots and fighting games, even this is not like any fighting game ive ever seen.
Matchmaking is quite slow tho, the game doesn't seem to have a lot of players rn, but i hope it grows in the near future.
Bônus points: You can play with up to four people controlling the same mech.
its a brazillian game, it sure deserves a lot.
Fluid animations, vibrant graphics, and an enjoyable combat system, totally recommend for anyone who likes fighting games, mechs, or is just looking for something fun and easy to pick up.
Override mech city brawl
-----------------------------
lets begin and answer what matters.
Is this game fun? YES
If you like mechs and kaijus to beat up then get this game.
It has a cheesy story mode that fits the Kaiju world.
Earth is under attack, giant monsters are destroying cities.
Choose your mecha and fight them.
The game features a singleplayer story mode, online pvp mode and offline versus mode.
You can unlock skins for each mecha and customise them.
The gameply is extremely fun and will get you going for a few hours a day.
The idea that the devs had in mind is great.
Its a fun game set in a kaiju world. And i love it.
Totally recommend the game.
Have fun !!!!
This game reminds me of the Power Rangers. You play as giant mechanical “animals” and other kind of robots and you fight against each other, destroying the whole tiny town around you. There are some weapons and each character has its own abilities and special attacks.
The campaign is short but can be played again and again.
I recommend trying out this game if you like controlling gigantic monsters and fighting with them.
There is even a local multiplayer.
Totally worth the 15€ that I payed for it (it was a special offer including all DLCs).
90% OFF IS TOTALLY WORTH IT FOR THIS GAME
I paid up when it was half off and later grabbed the DLC. No regrets; there's just not enough games of this genre out there.
This title's failing is with the awful storyline mode which seems tacked-on in comparison to the joyful execution of the combat and co-op systems. A simple fighter style arcade mode would have been better than the faux-roguelike progression slog of the current story.
Great characters, simple but deep combat system, unique co-op capabilities such as sharing a giant robot (legs/arms assigned to each player), and loads of heavy hits and big explosions.
For it's price, it's highly underrated. A neat fighting game with pretty graphics, cool mechs, awesome animations and a nice overall polish. I really recommend picking it up with friends.
This game is very cool, fun and graphically impressive. It also has a ton of potential from devs, that look like they know Robots. That is what this genre needs, some people who actually know Robots, besides scientists and myself. Rock em Sockem Robot Time!...Of course at this current sales price it's a no brainer/computer to purchase! If like fighting robots of all kinds, from various places, you will enjoy this. So far, I have just trained and played 1 single player match. Both were fun!!
Yes the free weekend is only free online multiplayer. But the game is also on sale for $3 for the base game and $4 for all the DLC pack. Like seriously its an amazing mech fighter that you can have a blast with your friends with. You can co-pilot a mech with one of your friends to make for a challenging team battle. You can actually have 4 people co-piloting the same mech! the multiplayer is limited to 4 people per lobby though so keep in mind, its not a massively multiplayer experience like other online games. I would recommend this game to anyone who loves anime, fighters or giant robot fights. Everything has a good feeling of weight behind your actions to make you feel like the mech you are piloting is massive. The maps are destructible as well.
The only Cons I have for this game is that the original price is 30 bucks, but its on sale right now for $3 so buy it you nerds! The last Con is that there is a small player base (also solved by buying this amazing game).
So just buy it already. get the $4 DLC included version since the skins as sick.
Two hours in, instantly took turns with various Mechs in training. I played around with buttons to see what happend. Oh what a treat! There is a tutorial available... NOT FORCED, but you can take it old school and learn by pressin and testin, or you can select a tutorial. While I've not, nor plan to tutorial, I learned the buttons layout, like most games, fit all the mechs. Each mech has its own unique look, as well as skill set. Find the one that fits you best!
You'll choose your mech, and fight against other mechs online, or in arcade, training. I've not done many missions in arcade but so far I've faught xenotype alien things. Each mission you'll either unlock mods to install, cosmeics, weapons and research type parts so you can further upgrade and deck out your mech. "DechaMech" To save the world and/or defeat all opposition!
Do you have what it takes?!
Override Mech City brawl is very fun. Movement is exactly what it should be. Combat is exactly what it should be. If you take the time to appreciate and enjoy it. Take the time to understand it you can really pull off some neat moves, combos, and throw in a skill or ultimate at just the right time.
This is a game that's going to stay in my library, and my children also enjoy either watching or playing as well.
While I did manage to pick this awesome game up on sale, the Override: Mech City Brawl - Super Charged Mega Edition for $3.99 + tax... at $4.23 I feel like I got waaaaaaaaay more than I paid for. I would have been happy paying full price for this title.
If you're a mech, brawling, fighting fan, if you don't enjoy Override Mech City Brawl, the problem isn't with the game ^^.
I Recommend ANY Mech, Brawler, Fighting game fan pick this up and have hours of fun be it solo, online, or locally with family or friends.
[Edit: more cons, meh section and better readability.]
[Edit edit: more mehs]
I do enjoy this game! It's pretty fun! Though, I'll just give you a list of Pros+Cons+Mehs:
Pros:
- Responsive controls
- Mech variety
- Weapon variety
- World building is pretty decent
- Good local multiplayer game
- skins are literally handed out for beating story missions
Cons:
- lack of actual movesets and combos (the most difference between the mechs you get is specials and the kick)
- online multiplayer is definitely dead
- story missions are extremely samey
- difficulty in story missions didn't seem to make a difference
- bad PR when launching a free weekend that deterred a lot of potential players
- charged attacks are difficult to distingush
- shielding is kinda pointless
- actual mech stats are not displayed
- mechs aren't categorized in any way when going to select one
- story is very short, payoff seems almost non-existent
- controls not displayed for controllers when in local matches
- some enemies don't feel like threats and are more just, health sponges (the nest things)
- some enemies don't feel like threats and are easily ignored mid mission, (the little pink tick looking things)
- some maps are kinda samey, too small feels like sometimes, other times the map feels too big
- the egypt map sucks, especially the hole bit in the middle of the map
Mehs:
- best if played with friends
- DLC is, kinda cool, ig
- writing could use work
- was slightly over-hyped
the game is pretty good if you are looking for a game to play with your friends or just wanna waste a couple of hours. I feel like there is untapped and wasted potential in the game. I also feel that it is a full product, but more like 75% full being passed off as 100%.
Although, pick this up when it goes on sale. It definitely isn't worth $30 on its own. More like, a $20 game, $30 with all DLC.
Possibly one of the most functional as well as best giant robot and monster fighting games. Upon choosing a robot you can even do story mode to fight kaiju while earning modules, weapons, and credits to upgrade your chosen robot. Even the pvp is quite entertaining and fun.
Can the game expand its single player content cause Im not getting any players online and i really love playing this game alone only, so the replayability can be longer can you guys add single player contents.
This game has the feeling that overwatch gave me but it still feels fresh and is extremely replayable. So replayable to the point i have bought this game 7 times now, twice for me and 5 times as gifts
I would certainly recomend this game!
I just randomly found this game on sale one day, and I gotta say, it's one of the best random find and purchase games in my library. I never knew how much I needed a 3D fighter with giant robots in my life until I got this. Combat is pretty standard I think? I haven't actually played nor owned anything else that I can compare directly to this for reference, so all I can say is that this title left a great impact on me for this specific fighting game sub-genre. Feel like randomly taking some time out of your day to take your favorite mech on a stroll through a large city while walking through buildings and fighting other mechs? Me too. This is great for scratching that gaming itch. All the character designs are really interesting, and the eight battlefields add enough variety, I find. It can get repetitive after a while, but that's why there's so many things to shake up. Or just stick with your main if that suits you. I can't judge, I do pretty much the same, but rotating between two other characters outside my main. Giant deer mech! Woo!
Wow this game is a lot of fun. More fun than I expected. The story mode is a little lite, although it is designed mainly as a way to pump up your Mechs stats. The characters are well designed with just enough quirkiness to make them endearing. This franchise would benefit from DLCs that offered more environmental variety or increased story modes. I was surprised that the engine is Unreal 1. So it almost feels like an early 2Ks game xbox.
Purchased this game with a 85% discount and with the amount of contents offered by this game, this is an absolute steal.
Pros
1. Decent graphic.
2. Interesting mech designs and flashy characteristic ultimate moves.
3. Extremely easy to pick up, every move can be achieved with at most 2 button combinations. The move list is so simple and intuitive, almost anyone with some gaming experience can pick up and play.
4. Good candidate for casual party game.
5. It encourages tactical fighting style, which is uncommon and offered an interesting approach to 3D mech fighting genre. This game has a mechanism which each attack will generate heat and overheat will rendered your mech completely defenseless unless the build up heat has been dissipated completely, this encourage you to fight more tactically instead of relying solely on muscle memory and reflex to chain insane combo hit to obliterate the opponent.
Cons
1. Arcade (a.k.a campaign) is very short and almost zero replayability unless you are a completionist who wants to complete the campaign with every mech.
2. Lack of depth, due to the simplicity of the move list (a very small move pool), you can master all the moves and executed them in the fight effortlessly within a very short time. The fight quickly lost its freshness from there once you experienced all the game could offered.
3. Arcade in normal mode is insultingly easy.
4. It is too multiplayer reliance for the gameplay longevity, which is quite unfortunately because the player base is almost non-existent.
5. The expected staggering effect on hit feels finicky and the combo hit don't feel as rewarding as it should be.
6. The mech feels weightless when fall down and the vertical movement via jet pack feels very underwhelming.
7. The Voltron style mech control scheme where multiple players control a single mech feels gimmicky. In practicality, there is zero need to split the responsibility to control the mech's feet or arm or what ever actions, this is due to the simplicity the move list even though it can sometime create some hilarious moments.
Overall this game is not bad and worth a try when it has a hefty discount slapped to it.
I will give it a 7/10.
It is a really fun 3D brawler with a bit of janky feel, but once you get a feel for it, its consistent and there can be quite a bit of depth to combat. I suck, but I've seen some people do some crazy combos where It's clear I haven't fully grasped everything. And now there's local co-op. Definitely a good party game. I originally played it on a free weekend and then waited to get it. It's on for 5$ and its totally worth it. It does need more players.
Great fighting game.
It is not a perfect fighter, but it is fun and can become chaotic in the best way.
There is a good number of characters to choose from who are colorful, unique, and interesting.
Who doesn't like giant fighting robots?
So I went and bought this game, the "ultimate" version for $8. The game play is fine, the arcade mode is a decent pass time. Really my gripe is just me being late on the game. The online matches are so dead. There is no one playing this online. I waited a literal 15min and no one should up.
This game delivers what it says, and it's fun if you have friends. Other than that, the online aspect of it is so dead, I personally recommend a more popular fighting game to have your online fighting fill.
mechanics are there but arcade is very repetitive. multiplayer is what this is all about. maybe add a build your own robot feature would be a cool touch. also it has that lame fortnite vibe i hate but thats just me.
but overall pretty fun.
Its worth its money and quite fun, but because this game isn't played by too many people playing online is not as easy, but luckily there is a local mode so you can play with with your friends.
So I bought this game yesterday for two specific reasons:
1. I'm always on the look-out for fun games to play in the same room, on the couch with friends.
2. I have a hard-on for giant mechs and giant monsters brawling it out in over the top settings.
As of writing this review, I haven't played the online multiplayer mode and I probably never will as I don't care for it.
Now... did it satisfy the two specific reasons for which I bought this game?
Yeah, it did!
+ The designs of most mechs are really awesome to look at and each mech plays awesomely unique in comparison to the rest.
+ You can feel the weight and the impact of most of the attacks and hits.
+ The coop mode (where multiple players control one mech) is not groundbreaking, but me and my friends found it fun and somewhat innovative nonetheless!
+ There are some items in the game which can be picked up during a match, which adds some fun combat diversity.
Now for some "okay" stuff:
/ The controls (for the gamepad at least) are something to get used to at first, as it is not your typical "x to hit" layout, but
me and my friends quickly got the hang of it and it works fine.
/ You can play through the story on your own or with friends (controlling the same mech together). The story is nothing to write home about, but it does provide a funny (if short and predictable) narrative to follow as you play.
/ It's pretty cool that your can break the buildings in the environment, but whereas the mech attacks have weight to them, the buildings do not. It feels like you could fart on them and they'd fall apart. I would like it more if you could actually scale the buildings or rip them off and use them as weapons, but alas.
/ I myself think some of the mech attacks could be a bit more over the top to fit the over the top theme, but most of them are cool enough.
/ Although I think it is a nice balance mechanic, I find it somewhat disappointing that super moves can only be used once you're under a certain amount of health and not part of some charge up system (like in Dragonball Z). I don't count this a negative point however, because I do really think it works fine as it is implemented.
Now to wrap this up with a negative:
- Although you can clearly feel a ton of love and passion was poured into this game, I believe it to be somewhat overpriced, especially considering you can to pay individually for a lot of dlc. Personally I think this game should've been around $20 at launch and the mech dlc's should've been free. I believe the game would've garnered a bigger audience and maintained a larger, online playerbase with that pricepoint.
This game is one of the most underrated games out there. It was on my radar since it's announcement. It got lost in obscurity and the steam sale got me back in. Was instantly in love and bought the season pass to show more appreciation. I love using most of the mechs.
I honestly really love all the mechs designs and unique animations and abilities, the arcade mode is decently fun but I can't really connect with anyone in matchmaking, maybe cus there aren't that many people playing idk I prefer single player anyways. I would say definitely give this game a shot just because of how fun all the mechs are in general but MAYBE wait for a sale if you're not sure cus there isn't a TON to do in the game with the scarce matchmaking (All the pilot designs and their dialogue are really fun though)
its a fun concept, and i enjoyed it for a while, but for a fighting game, it moves pretty slowly, and only two of the mechs actually felt like giant robots. the others all just felt like not really that
(reviewed for summer sale, didnt put a lot of effort into it)
You know how in Power Rangers, each ranger gets to control a limb and somehow their Megazord is able to preform ridiculously complex and perfect kung-fu moves? In Override, you'll get to see just how possible it is to be so in sync with another player that you're able to pull of complex maneuvers and defeat your enemies in style.
I got Override for my friend and I after we watched a video of Override where three people piloted the same mech. We thought it would be a fun, but awful mess, like Octodad's hilariously messy CO-OP, but after we fought the computer controlling all the mechs, we learned that we can actually pilot a mech pretty well together. Not satisfied with the lack of online CO-OP for arcade mode, we took our tandem mech piloting online, where we encountered another pair of tandem mech pilots. We kick their butts so hard that we just had to let them win at least once to keep playing with us.
Overall, it's a pretty fun game with friends and offers just enough depth to be interesting alone, especially with its interesting execution of arcade mode. My only complaint is a common one; there is no online CO-OP for arcade mode, BUT if you have a friend / family member who is willing to play with you, you can play local CO-OP in arcade mode.
is fun gaem
8/10
pls buy
It's a simple 3D mech brawler. Controls take some getting used to but they're not overly complicated. If you wanna complicate things you can control a single mech with friends, i.e. one person on each limb. The mech designs range from cool to ridiculous, but are mostly good overall. Worth getting if you're a mecha fan, if not, get it if you have friends to play with. Single player campaign exists but it's just there, not great nor bad.

WE NEED Chinese!
I really want to love this game, because the concept and basic gameplay is great. However, the servers are dead so I can't even enjoy playing this game online. Maybe they could do a different pricing model, or make a few robots F2P. Hope the servers don't stay dead forever.
For the amount of money you have to pay, and the few characters you can play, *inhales* AND the fact you pretty much have to spend more money to unlock characters to make the game have more re-play value, makes this game a good to bad.
Now if your still reading this then good for you, but to be honest this game has good mechanics, great art, and huge mechs for huge amounts of destruction. But i would be lying if i said it didn't get old pretty fast, like I said the limited characters make it so that once you know the basic moves of all characters, it JUST GETS SO DULL. Also the most frustrating part of the whole thing is all new characters are behind a pay-wall, halting all the re-play value again, and is just another sign of greed that just puts this game 10 years closer to its death if it's not here already. all in all, it's a good game but for the money and pretty much needed dlc's for the better game-play, makes this game not worth the time. Don't buy this game.
WE NEED CHINESE
Awesome fights. I am feeling like a Power Ranger on 90's. You can play up to 4 people with controlling the same robot. It is so fun!!! This game deserves it. Please give it a chance. It has ranked mode, 1vs1 and brawl mode. All of them so fun. Also it has a story mode too. Graphics are awesome. I can't talk anymore just awesome game. Thank you for Devs! Finally a game that deserves money!
Override Mech City Brawl
one of those rare fighting games where your never locked into a combo for 90% of the match by a tryhard the only problem is there aren't many people around 8/10
I'll be making a FULL review video later in the future but this is just a quick one.
Pros
+ Split Screen - Not a lot of games have this and it very nice feature to couch co-op with friends.
+ Story Mode - Although its a bit simplistic, it still has it.
+ Easy to learn
+ FUN Gameplay
+ Soundtrack - The music is actually really amazing!
Cons
+ Population - Its a fighting game, so it needs people to play it. Right now, it lacks player count.
+ Skin change at other menus - This is whatever really. Just rather change on the fly thats all.
+ Arcade mode has no replay value other then wanting to just try it on Hard. Could be helped with a different reward system?
Other
+ Balance (Its a fighting game so its going to happen.)
Right now the Meta is all based on 3 part charge attacks (both arms, and 1 leg).
Some Specials and Ultimates lack effectiveness compared to just using charge attacks.
(WatchBot for example, his projectiles are slow and low damaging and his Ultimate is
just the worst. You can't see what you are hitting and it starts pointing up?)
+ Blocking - Overheats your bot way too fast. But right now really no reason to block since Charge attacks are so potent.
+ Needs a Air Dive Punch option.
I see this game having amazing potential. Hope they get it right soon.
To sum it up: Alot of potential, a very interesting single player mode for a supposedly online fighting game
Pros:
+ Surprisingly well optimized
+ Decent graphics
+ Good, diverse roster
+ Surprising single player mode for a supposedly online fighting game
+ Decent cosmetics earnt through GAMEPLAY
Cons:
- Single player sometimes boggles down to cheesing hordes of weak enemies since they keep on stunning you
- Some people in online duals will just run away from you and jump all over the place (Using freakin Vidar) if you use mechs that are slow (Mainly Rocca and Pescado)
- Some balancing issues, most heavy mechs are not very viable since you can hit someone out of a heavy and some ultimates are too bloody useless
This game isnt that good as it looks like in the trailer.. there arent much combos and the gameplay is kinda slow. i tryed to play online but there arent other players. only found 1 match so far and the server broke up after 30 secs -.-. but i think this game is a good taktic combat beat em up in a few weeks. still hope for more updates like combos and more punch/Kick functions. atleast it would be good to give other players a demo to check if they like this game or not, becouse im pretty sure u will earn alot negativ revs from others who buy it and then see that the game is kinda... yeah. BUTT i still like it :) hope there are more players for online gaming in the next weeks ty.
I'm teetering on recommending this and telling people to flee for their lives until a few updates hit to smooth things over, and that actually punches me in the gut. It's actually depressing that something that came off as incredibly fun during the beta is leaving me so on edge after release.
To start, the game is just as fun as you'd imagine a giant robot brawler to be. Hits actually feel like hits. When you connect with a charged attack or a nice meaty special, it feels good. The issue here is the hit detection at times. Direct hits will at times just phase through the target with no explanation, and certain moves shift the hitboxes around in the wonkiest ways.
No graphical hiccups that I've seen so far, besides a few accessory issues. Certain ones not working on certain bots for example, leading to hats and glasses sitting on the ground under the bot and hovering in midair when they jump. But otherwise all of the alts are completely awesome. But does Shifu's ponytail always need to flip the actual hell out when a fight is over?
The problem that's actually leaving me tipping back and forth is balance. Now that the full game is out and people are free to flock to it, it's becoming apparent certain bots got more TLC on the moveset and utility front than others. Certain matchups are nearly entirely unwinnable for one of the two bots. You'll often find mulitple players using the same bot, the same tactics, the same way. Counters only go so far to alleviate the problems, but they're a step in the right direction. Even those that weren't given the dev-team love aren't immune to some technical issues. Metageckon, for example, has a noticeable hiccup with his buzzsaw special that can get him (and his victim in the worst situation) locked in a corner for the entirety of the move, providing Ult-level damage for one bar of meter depending on the angle of the corner.
But I mean...it's still a *decent game* at its heart. The TL;DR I'll put down is this: if you've got a pack of friends that want to all go back to War of the Monsters or something, this is a good party game. It's fun. Just don't expect the moon for the price tag. ...I mean, you'll get the moon. Just not...you know what I'm saying.
Recomendo!
This is a pretty cool game for the $30 price. The combat is decent - accessible enough for casual button mashing, but there's also a layer of skill if you utilize the parrying and charge attack mechanics correctly. There's a small campaign that serves as an arcade mode for each mech, nothing too crazy here. The online has a handful of modes ranging from 1v1 ranked to 4 player brawls. You can play in team battles or even have multiple people piloting a single mech in an online match. The mech customization is mostly skins (think Overwatch) with an accessory slot (think TF2). The game doesn't take itself too seriously, so some of the skins and accessories are pretty goofy.
Show these guys some love and give this one a shot if you like the idea of mechs beating each other up.
So much fun! I love the aesthetic, I love the concept, and I love the combat. This is a fighting game that isn't based around memmorizing long strings of button combinations, it is a game about utilizing a specific set of very intentional movements to handle the current combat situation. The combat flow is slower paced and more methodical than most fighting games, but this gives you much more time to think and strategize as you plan your next move. The combat itself is a new concept that I'm thoroughly enjoying. There are 4 attack buttons, Left punch, right punch, left kick, and right kick, with the ability to charge each attack, and each mech has 4 special moves. Weapons will also randomly be deployed around the battle field to pick up as a fun temporary tool.
There is plenty of content for a fighting game, including a surprisingly in depth arcade mode which sees you fighting off waves of kaiju and other mechs, while earning mods, research points, and weapons to better upgrade and outfit your current character. I was not expecting anything more than a traditional fight through the roster arcade mode and I'm definitely not complaining. Its great, and you still unlock special skins and accessories by playing arcade mode, so people who just want to relax and fight the AI aren't punished for not wanting to fight against random real people.
It has multiplayer mode in which you can either fight your friends, or fight cooperativly with each player taking control of different parts of the same mech, power rangers style. This is as silly and fun as it sounds.
Overall Override is just great fun and a great game. Its like the Rock'em Sock'em robots of the future and I love it.
Fantastic game, and one you should definitely pick up if you have a friend to play with! That said, it's currently best with friends, because connecting to anyone else seems to make the game...struggle. Parrying against my friend was straight forward and easy, and the hit registration was solid. With anyone else I connected with through Ranked or Casual though, it was impossible to get parried, or perform a parry. This game is absolutely fantastic and I DO recommend it, but currently the matchmaking is in need of a few touches.
This small, likely temporary issue aside, I highly recommend this fun mech themed brawler. It has mechs, destroyable towns and cities, and just rampant fun. If you have even just one friend to play with, your money is already well spent, and I'm sure the networking issues will be shorted out soon enough!
(And hopefully, we'll be able to mute our mics in game soon enough too...because that's uh...not a thing yet)
Sort of like ARMS for the switch. Not quite War of the Monsters PS2, but good in its own way. Good price point, its a little light on content. I hope campain mode gets some sort of online-duo mode some day. Or maybe a ladder match arcade mode.
